- 0:58Speaker 1: All right, guys, good morning, welcome to the Aired Out podcast,
- 1:54Speaker 1: seen and heard live from North Main Street, literally just
- 1:59Speaker 1: feet away from the sidewalk here, North Main Street, Barry, Vermont.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It is a well, it wasn't beautiful morning this morning.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I still think it's beautiful. We have some sun and
- 2:09Speaker 1: some clouds and temperatures today supposed to be mostly sunny.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I just think this is some low lying stuff, but
- 2:16Speaker 1: it's gonna move aside. Sixty three later today. Tonight I
- 2:20Speaker 1: think they said thirty eight with a few clouds rolling in,
- 2:23Speaker 1: and then tomorrow still plenty of sunshine, but a little
- 2:28Speaker 1: bit cooler. Tomorrow they're saying fifty eight degrees. Wow, good
- 2:33Speaker 1: morning and a very happy Tuesday to you sitting across
- 2:38Speaker 1: from us. Please let me introduce. I don't know where
- 2:41Speaker 1: to begin. Let's go with you on the far left there,
- 2:44Speaker 1: sexy lady Donnie Potress, Donne Donna Portress. Geez, you're gonna
- 2:50Speaker 1: hold that against me forever now. At least I didn't
- 2:54Speaker 1: say your husband was Jerry.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Thank goodness.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Anyway, Good morning, Donna, morning Jad. Please introduce next to
- 3:03Speaker 1: you Eddie and his beautiful wife Linda.
- 3:06Speaker 3: This is Ed Sanborn. He is our recipient for Bikers
- 3:09Speaker 3: for Beth this year. And this is his wife, Linda.
- 3:13Speaker 1: And you, Linda have been putting up with his ship
- 3:17Speaker 1: for how many years now? Fifty four years? Oh my god,
- 3:24Speaker 1: that's amazing. Yeah, well, listen, Eddie, it is a great
- 3:34Speaker 1: pleasure to bring you on the microphones. I've been hearing
- 3:37Speaker 1: about you for weeks. It seems like everybody and their
- 3:44Speaker 1: brother is related to you in some way, Eddie? Is that?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Is there some truth to that?
- 3:50Speaker 4: Donna saying yes, yes, I lost my younger brother to
- 3:54Speaker 4: colon cancer four years ago. Okay, so I know a
- 4:03Speaker 4: lot of people. Yeah, yeah, between riding bikes and going.
- 4:09Speaker 1: And Rex was telling me that everybody knew and loved
- 4:14Speaker 1: your brother too.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Yes, yes, he was a great guy.
- 4:18Speaker 1: So obviously, at some point today we're going to be
- 4:22Speaker 1: talking about the particulars of year number seventeen for this
- 4:28Speaker 1: incredible event which was supposed to be and correct me
- 4:32Speaker 1: if I'm wrong, Downer, but wasn't it supposed to be
- 4:34Speaker 1: kind of a one and done for Beth? Hemenway, yes,
- 4:36Speaker 1: seventeen years ago.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Seventeen years ago, started by Cass and Shelley Brisett.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I remember, well, yep, I.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Wasn't there the first two years, but I've been with
- 4:48Speaker 3: it starting in the third year.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Amazing and I know that God. I mean it's like
- 4:57Speaker 1: every year you're on the air with me, and I
- 4:59Speaker 1: know I say this same thing every year, but I'm
- 5:02Speaker 1: going to say it again. There have been so many
- 5:06Speaker 1: happy stories that have come out of Bikers for Beth
- 5:10Speaker 1: where people have overcome the odds and beaten its ass,
- 5:15Speaker 1: the ass of cancer and they're doing so well. And
- 5:19Speaker 1: not only are they doing well, but they're still involved
- 5:25Speaker 1: and still riding motorcycles and it's still volunteering and helping,
- 5:29Speaker 1: giving back, helping out, which is really remarkable. I mean,
- 5:33Speaker 1: look at Steve England. I mean he's just one example.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Of several yep, and Linn Craig.
- 5:39Speaker 1: And Randy Tucker, yes exactly, I know that a bear
- 5:48Speaker 1: shits in the woods, but Randy Tucker will.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Definitely be there right as far as we know, he
- 5:54Speaker 3: will be there.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Just saying because maybe the whole does a bear shit
- 6:00Speaker 1: in the woods comment, maybe that's more appropriate for Travis Payatt, Yeah,
- 6:07Speaker 1: because he's has he ever missed one?
- 6:09Speaker 3: I don't think so, not since I've been there. No,
- 6:13Speaker 3: he has not, and he always tries to beat somebody there.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Yeah, he tries to be the first bike in the morning.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I've come close a couple of years beaten him, but
- 6:26Speaker 1: I just can't seem to do it. Eddie back to you,
- 6:31Speaker 1: But you're the man of the hour here. You have
- 6:37Speaker 1: also ridden a motorcycle for how many years?
- 6:41Speaker 4: Since I was fourteen years old?
- 6:43Speaker 1: Okay?
- 6:44Speaker 4: I rode dirt bikes and then I rode a few
- 6:48Speaker 4: jet bikes and then I went to Harley's.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Okay, So, but you've ridden in the Bikers for Beth ride.
- 6:57Speaker 4: I'd say fourteen fifteen years, most of it all, Yeah,
- 7:01Speaker 4: all of them, all, all of it. One or two
- 7:05Speaker 4: I missed because that was it.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Yeah, Rex is saying good morning, now, how are you late? Really?
- 7:13Speaker 1: I feel bad for you that you're related to to
- 7:15Speaker 1: Rex Thompson. How are you related to this my cousin?
- 7:17Speaker 1: Your cousin, Yeah, you know that guy loves you, man,
- 7:21Speaker 1: he thinks the world?
- 7:22Speaker 4: Are you?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Oh and your brother? I mean you guys? Are you
- 7:27Speaker 1: know you're all well connected?
- 7:29Speaker 5: Uh?
- 7:30Speaker 1: He speaks very highly of you. Yeah, when he's serious,
- 7:34Speaker 1: which is rare. It's it's not often. But so are
- 7:39Speaker 1: you still riding your Harley, I sure you.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Are until I can't hold it up no more, it
- 7:45Speaker 4: can't go.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I am going to be riding all right now. Your
- 7:48Speaker 1: beautiful wife of fifty four years next to you. Uh,
- 7:53Speaker 1: she had a little problem with you and motorcycle riding.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Am I right? Yes? Okay? What happened?
- 8:00Speaker 4: Well, I had a beautiful soft tail. Yeah, and she
- 8:05Speaker 4: didn't trust my legs anymore. Yeah, got nervous.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Okay. How long ago was this? You're seventy two now,
- 8:14Speaker 1: when I was seventies, probably seventy. Okay. I traded for
- 8:20Speaker 1: a trike. You traded it for a trike.
- 8:23Speaker 4: So that she could ride. She feels safer.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Ok I hated it. I hated it. What's that, Linda?
- 8:33Speaker 1: You loved it? He hated it? Yeah, okay, so we
- 8:36Speaker 1: got a compromise here. What the hell's going on? I mean,
- 8:38Speaker 1: at some point we got to battle this out right.
- 8:41Speaker 4: I didn't like the way it handle, I didn't like
- 8:42Speaker 4: the way it ride and all well, I put maybe
- 8:45Speaker 4: one hundred miles on it whole year that I had it,
- 8:48Speaker 4: or two years that I had it, Okay, and I
- 8:52Speaker 4: just hated it. And I called up Wilkins and see
- 8:55Speaker 4: what they had and I said, you know, this thing's
- 8:57Speaker 4: just nothing but a lawn ornament to me because I
- 9:00Speaker 4: hate it.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Well, they were accustomed to dealing with old fellas.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Like you that I'm I'm old cool.
- 9:06Speaker 1: You were born and born and raised on two wheels.
- 9:08Speaker 1: But I understand, yeah, you know. I mean here's the plus.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Though, still you can't lean, and I like leaning, and
- 9:15Speaker 4: yet like but you.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Still got the wind in the hair though, I mean
- 9:18Speaker 1: a little bit. Okay, wait, show us again, show us again,
- 9:23Speaker 1: all right, wind on the side of the hair. So
- 9:28Speaker 1: so did you what did you do with the trike?
- 9:31Speaker 4: I traded it for another soft deal.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Good for you, my man. Yeah, and that just done
- 9:37Speaker 1: pissed Linda right off.
- 9:39Speaker 4: I wrote it last year and by Christopher Bath.
- 9:45Speaker 1: So you guys had a you guys had a little
- 9:46Speaker 1: scuffle about this.
- 9:48Speaker 4: No, just she didn't doctor me anymore? Was you real? Quiet?
- 9:52Speaker 4: And I enjoyed it.
- 9:54Speaker 1: For how many weeks?
- 9:56Speaker 4: Months?
- 9:57Speaker 1: Months? I am? Well, so you're writing that, you're writing
- 10:01Speaker 1: that that soft tail? Now?
- 10:02Speaker 4: Yes, I am okay? And you love it when I
- 10:05Speaker 4: get out of the cellar and his mud gets away
- 10:07Speaker 4: from the dirt roads.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Sure are you? Do you feel stable enough on this.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Oh yeah, okay, I stay active. It's the only way
- 10:17Speaker 4: I can keep my mind off and what I've got. Yeah,
- 10:20Speaker 4: if I didn't, i'd go bananas, Sure I would, I'd
- 10:23Speaker 4: go completely berserk.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I bet, I bet.
- 10:26Speaker 4: That's why you know I still work part time and
- 10:29Speaker 4: I stay active.
- 10:31Speaker 1: So where do you work? Programs?
- 10:34Speaker 4: Bart Clank?
- 10:35Speaker 1: Okay, what do you do?
- 10:37Speaker 4: I'm a security okay, up there. It's right next to
- 10:42Speaker 4: Jerry's business where he works.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Uh, and Jerry's just writing here in a fist fight
- 10:50Speaker 1: between Linda and Ed. My money is on Linda. He
- 10:58Speaker 1: didn't say how. I mean, he didn't say how much
- 11:00Speaker 1: I could. We could be talking about two or three
- 11:01Speaker 1: bucks here.
- 11:02Speaker 4: Well, next time I see him back and then I
- 11:04Speaker 4: will go out, we'll find out who's all right?
- 11:08Speaker 1: So how many days a week do you work in? Parts?
- 11:11Speaker 2: Are?
- 11:11Speaker 1: In there?
- 11:12Speaker 4: I work four days a week, okay, They're only like
- 11:14Speaker 4: six hours a day, and then the Saturdays I work
- 11:17Speaker 4: four hours.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Okay. Where do you Where do you guys live? How
- 11:22Speaker 1: long you've been there?
- 11:23Speaker 4: Thirty five years?
- 11:25Speaker 1: Okay? Where? What about before that? Marshfield? Marshfield okay, all right, Yeah.
- 11:33Speaker 4: I couldn't keep putting nothing hooked down up there. Sure,
- 11:36Speaker 4: that was the only one on the street work and
- 11:37Speaker 4: everybody else on welfare.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Well, then, so.
- 11:42Speaker 4: When you go out to stock your vehicle to go
- 11:44Speaker 4: to work, find out it's empty when you just barely
- 11:45Speaker 4: got put ten gallons of gas in it, you kind
- 11:48Speaker 4: of wonder or you lose three batteries.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Sure, Okay? Where'd you go to high school?
- 11:55Speaker 4: Spawling High School? I graduated in nineteen seventy.

- 12:19Speaker 4: Panera bread, Panera bread, Panera bread. And what's the other
- 12:23Speaker 4: place beside that? Uh, just down the road. Yes, we
- 12:29Speaker 4: worked down there. I worked night six to midnight.
- 12:31Speaker 1: What were you driving?
- 12:34Speaker 4: I was driving a fifty nine Ford and then at
- 12:37Speaker 4: the time I had a one hundred Honda dirt bike.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I'd used wow, and Linda, what were you? What were
- 12:44Speaker 1: you driving around?
- 12:45Speaker 4: Nothing?
- 12:46Speaker 1: In his car? In his car? Yeah? Right. See, guy's
- 12:52Speaker 1: met in the sixties and and you've been in from
- 12:55Speaker 1: out your your whole life. Oh yes, okay, yeah, you
- 12:58Speaker 1: ever thinking about cashing in and bind that island somewhere
- 13:01Speaker 1: south and getting the hell out of here? Really?
- 13:05Speaker 4: You write me a check?
- 13:06Speaker 1: Oh you are okay?
- 13:08Speaker 4: Well, you write me a check and I'll head I'll
- 13:09Speaker 4: be gone.
- 13:10Speaker 1: All right. So so this is this is your state,
- 13:13Speaker 1: this is your.
- 13:14Speaker 4: Your born raised here, and I'll.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Be buried here. Okay, all right.
- 13:18Speaker 4: You're my ashes be thrown into the sewer pipe whatever
- 13:23Speaker 4: she does with him, and I won't know afterwards.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Uh listen, And as I said earlier, we may we
- 13:31Speaker 1: may get a couple of incoming calls here this morning
- 13:35Speaker 1: from from folks. He may want to talk with you.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I'm not sure if Rex is able to uh to
- 13:40Speaker 1: do that or not, but uh, he wanted to. He
- 13:42Speaker 1: wanted to be here this morning too, and has said
- 13:46Speaker 1: so much about you that just you're you're just a
- 13:49Speaker 1: great guy and everyone knows you. So what happened? And
- 13:55Speaker 1: and don I want your your input on this, to
- 13:58Speaker 1: your your your version of the worry, But what what
- 14:01Speaker 1: what happened with this diagnosis? What what's going on?
- 14:04Speaker 4: Well? Yeah, go ahead, I uh I couldn't go to
- 14:10Speaker 4: the bathroom for a week, okay. So I went to
- 14:13Speaker 4: my doctor. He sent me up to the hospital for
- 14:16Speaker 4: a scan and he found out I had a blockage.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Okay.
- 14:21Speaker 4: So from there he sent me to see a surgeon
- 14:27Speaker 4: and he well, first have a colonoscopy and they couldn't
- 14:31Speaker 4: go only maybe a foot or so up and couldn't
- 14:36Speaker 4: go no more because it was blocked. So he recommended
- 14:39Speaker 4: I go in for surgery and he took a So
- 14:45Speaker 4: I went in and had surgery and he took out
- 14:47Speaker 4: a third of my coalon okay, and he said it
- 14:53Speaker 4: was cancer and uh, he reconnected the two ends together.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Which then I stayed there and I don't know, I
- 15:04Speaker 4: don't know, four or five more days in the hospital,
- 15:06Speaker 4: and then I sent me home. I came home and
- 15:09Speaker 4: then one or two days later I couldn't get out
- 15:12Speaker 4: of bed. I was sick, sweating, fever. I was bad.
- 15:20Speaker 4: And then my wife come in, looked at me, and
- 15:22Speaker 4: then she got one of our friend of ours. She
- 15:26Speaker 4: came up and she looked at me and I was
- 15:29Speaker 4: white as a ghoal. She said, better rush you up
- 15:31Speaker 4: to the hospital. This was like eight o'clock in the morning.
- 15:36Speaker 4: So they rushed me up to the hospital. They took
- 15:39Speaker 4: me into a CT scan and they put me right
- 15:41Speaker 4: into emergency surgery where they had sewed me together.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Blew a pirate.
- 15:46Speaker 4: I was full of septic and the surgeon came in
- 15:52Speaker 4: after I was awake. He said, if you'd wait another
- 15:55Speaker 4: couple of hours, you'd been dead.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I was gonna say, sepsis can kill you fast,
- 15:59Speaker 1: and asked.
- 16:00Speaker 4: On top of it all, I came down with covid O. God,
- 16:05Speaker 4: so I was the most sickest s ob for the
- 16:07Speaker 4: next two weeks that you can think of.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:11Speaker 4: Wow, they'd be putting one bag of and but I
- 16:15Speaker 4: saw me as soon as that one emptied, the buzzer
- 16:17Speaker 4: go off and the nurse come in and put another
- 16:19Speaker 4: one right on me because I've had so much septic
- 16:21Speaker 4: in me.
- 16:23Speaker 1: And Linda, where you were you're driving the bus here,
- 16:27Speaker 1: You're you're right there with him. I'm guessing the.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Doctor came in after.
- 16:34Speaker 5: If you had waited an hour.
- 16:37Speaker 1: If you had waited an hour, you wouldn't be here.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Yeah wow, and he does Yeah, oh yeah. I am
- 16:46Speaker 1: not surprised, uh Eddie, that you don't like ambulance ambulance rides.
- 16:52Speaker 4: I took an ambulance once to Burlington when I had
- 16:55Speaker 4: a heart attack a few years back.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and you probably cussed come out the whole way.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Oh, I didn't like it.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Yeah. If if I were an EMT driving an ambulance
- 17:07Speaker 1: and I pulled up and I just took one look
- 17:11Speaker 1: at your face with that hat on and everything, the
- 17:13Speaker 1: way you're dressed, everything, I'd be like, oh Jesus, here
- 17:16Speaker 1: we go. This guy's going to be a huge pain
- 17:20Speaker 1: in my ass.
- 17:20Speaker 4: I love you too.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, I mean I could just tell that the
- 17:24Speaker 1: way you are, You're you're you're you're an old for honor,
- 17:27Speaker 1: You're a self sufficient guy. You're you're tough, tougher than nails.
- 17:31Speaker 1: And I'm I could tell by your handshake at what
- 17:34Speaker 1: seventy two? I think you said your yeah. Uh. Tim
- 17:38Speaker 1: Campbell Senior is saying hi from Florida and wishing all
- 17:44Speaker 1: of us a say ride on the eighteenth, I think.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Yes, yep, eighteen, yep, eighteenth.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Yes, seventeenth is the pre party at Custos. Yeah. So, Donna,
- 17:58Speaker 1: how how did you? I mean, obviously you've known Eddie
- 18:02Speaker 1: for how long?
- 18:04Speaker 3: Well, I've known Linda a lot longer than I've known
- 18:06Speaker 3: ed yeah, okay, but yeah, it's been quite a few
- 18:13Speaker 3: years so since I've known Ed.
- 18:16Speaker 2: But and they've got a good family.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Crystal Gale saying good morning from North Carolina. Cindy Wade
- 18:23Speaker 1: is locked in here from I think North Carolina.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Also, Cindy Wade isn't from is she's from Williamstown.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Oh, Cindy Wade, I'm thinking of.
- 18:32Speaker 2: The other side.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Uh or Briar? And where is she? By the way,
- 18:38Speaker 1: She's still in North.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Carolina, Cindy Briar, Yeah, she's she'll be up here on
- 18:43Speaker 3: the fourteenth or fifteenth, I think.
- 18:45Speaker 1: So she's gonna come up and get the helmet on
- 18:48Speaker 1: and go and then run right back.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Now she's she has a camper. Oh, all right, should
- 18:56Speaker 3: be here for this most of the summer. Anyways, she's
- 18:59Speaker 3: a bird.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Huh yeah, wow, lucky her.
- 19:02Speaker 1: So how did you how did you find out about Eddie?
- 19:05Speaker 1: I mean, what's like, how did this all unfold? Somebody
- 19:12Speaker 1: nominated me? Okay, she wouldn't tell me.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he was nominated and I knew, you know,
- 19:21Speaker 3: what was going on with Ed before he was even nominated.
- 19:25Speaker 3: But yeah, but yeah, I still am not telling you
- 19:29Speaker 3: who nominated you unless that person told you.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Well, we just got to comment. We just got to
- 19:35Speaker 1: comment here saying when I congratulated Ed on the nomination,
- 19:39Speaker 1: he told me he didn't deserve it, that there were
- 19:42Speaker 1: people that are worse off than him.
- 19:44Speaker 2: That's what he said.
- 19:46Speaker 4: That's what he was said of myself. I think there's
- 19:48Speaker 4: got to be people out there worse than me. I
- 19:50Speaker 4: told her that when she come up to my house.
- 19:52Speaker 3: It's it's hard making that decision, it really is. And
- 19:56Speaker 3: we did have a lot of nominations this year, more
- 19:59Speaker 3: than we ever had, and just making the decision, it's,
- 20:05Speaker 3: you know, it's it's it's difficult.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Wrecks you with us?
- 20:10Speaker 5: I am my man. Can you hear me?
- 20:12Speaker 3: Ye?
- 20:12Speaker 1: Can hear you?
- 20:13Speaker 3: Laugh?
- 20:14Speaker 5: I got to tell you some of my.
- 20:15Speaker 6: Best memories with Eddie was growing up and hunting. We
- 20:19Speaker 6: always whether it was rabbit hunting, uh, squirrel hunting, bird hunting,
- 20:29Speaker 6: and in his Harley's. The guy always had a Harley.
- 20:33Speaker 6: I just remember my dad being so jealous and upset
- 20:36Speaker 6: every time Eddie got a brand new Harley. I would
- 20:41Speaker 6: laugh so hard because he was like, oh, my dad
- 20:43Speaker 6: always wanted a Harley. And then Eddie would come up
- 20:46Speaker 6: with his brand new Harley, and he was beautiful.
- 20:48Speaker 5: He always had like soft tails and shit like that.
- 20:50Speaker 5: He's got some tale now, yes, so Eddie's always had him.
- 20:54Speaker 6: The Sandborns have always they like they grew up in
- 20:57Speaker 6: the woods. They've always been just hard work hunting kind
- 21:00Speaker 6: of people. And uh, so I gotta tell you a
- 21:03Speaker 6: funny story though. And Eddie, ed do you remember that
- 21:06Speaker 6: time you shot Steve Gilman?
- 21:08Speaker 4: Oh? Yeah, you, I don't know. I don't remember you
- 21:14Speaker 4: being there, but oh.
- 21:16Speaker 6: Yeah, we were all there because Eddie. So I'm gotta
- 21:19Speaker 6: tell you what happened, JD. Were we got separated. We
- 21:22Speaker 6: were Pirateridge hunting. I think cousin Randy was there, my dad, Eddie.
- 21:26Speaker 6: I don't remember who Eddie was with, but we all separated.
- 21:31Speaker 5: Clarence, that's right. So we separated.
- 21:34Speaker 6: We were on the upper hill, Eddie was down below,
- 21:39Speaker 6: and a partridge blew up between us.
- 21:41Speaker 5: And of course, Eddie, weren't you hunting with a ten gauge?
- 21:44Speaker 4: No, no magnums in it.
- 21:49Speaker 5: Them fucking tell it's come through.
- 21:51Speaker 6: Everybody hit the ground except big old fat Steve Gilman.
- 21:55Speaker 5: He couldn't fucking move.
- 21:57Speaker 6: He just puts his hands over his head and all
- 22:00Speaker 6: the pellets come through. That's where we're start hollering, you
- 22:03Speaker 6: killed Steve. He had pellets inside of that. God dang
- 22:06Speaker 6: best none of them came through.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Oh my god, nobody saw.
- 22:13Speaker 5: We didn't even know you were down there.
- 22:14Speaker 4: No, you know, I wasn't intentional.
- 22:18Speaker 5: No, not at all.
- 22:19Speaker 4: No.
- 22:20Speaker 6: Randy did the same thing to us once he shot,
- 22:23Speaker 6: and the pellets came raining down all around us over
- 22:26Speaker 6: at an apple orchard.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Rex, Was there any alcohol involved?
- 22:31Speaker 5: No, okay, only on Steve's part.
- 22:34Speaker 6: Steve was the only one because and it wasn't really alcohol.
- 22:37Speaker 6: I think he called it snake bite medicine of the van,
- 22:42Speaker 6: and he'd go, oh my god, I just got bit
- 22:44Speaker 6: by a snowsnake, And then he'd pull that little bottle
- 22:47Speaker 6: out and take a sip off of it.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Rex, Are you gonna because are.
- 22:54Speaker 5: The things I remember as a kid.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Are you going to be riding on the eighteenth?
- 22:58Speaker 6: Oh of course I will, all right, Yeah, this full
- 23:03Speaker 6: cancer thing is I mean, I went through it with
- 23:06Speaker 6: my wife, I went through it with I mean, those
- 23:09Speaker 6: guys they just went to His nephew just died. I'm
- 23:12Speaker 6: on my way to Dartmouth right now to see Keith
- 23:15Speaker 6: and Hornstraw who has just got his cancer back and
- 23:19Speaker 6: just went through chemo. So I'm gonna go down there
- 23:20Speaker 6: and fuck with him.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Wow.
- 23:25Speaker 5: So yeah, it's everywhere. You gotta stay away, you gotta
- 23:27Speaker 5: watch out. I think it's contagious.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I know, man, it's Uh, it's crazy. And to think
- 23:34Speaker 1: that this is this is the eighteenth year that this
- 23:38Speaker 1: event has been happening, Rex is Uh, it's amazing. It's amazing. Yeah,
- 23:46Speaker 1: any other stories about Eddie before we before we let
- 23:50Speaker 1: you go.
- 23:52Speaker 5: No, They've always been good people.
- 23:54Speaker 6: Eddie's always been a super hard working person, so you know,
- 23:59Speaker 6: and and and this whole kind of situation really sucks
- 24:03Speaker 6: because between being sick, how do you have a job
- 24:07Speaker 6: and how do you fucking take care of your family?
- 24:09Speaker 6: Like Hegan's self employed, just like I am. They have
- 24:12Speaker 6: no income coming in, so how do they.
- 24:15Speaker 5: Fucking do this?
- 24:17Speaker 6: Even if he survives it, they're gonna have nothing at
- 24:20Speaker 6: the other end of this, Right, Why do we have
- 24:23Speaker 6: to go broke or die?
- 24:26Speaker 1: Yeah? I don't get it true.
- 24:29Speaker 6: We shouldn't have to make those choices when it comes
- 24:31Speaker 6: to life and death.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Rex, thank you for hopping on with us this morning.
- 24:37Speaker 1: I love you bid.
- 24:37Speaker 6: Yeah, all right, Eddie, you take care. We will see
- 24:40Speaker 6: you at the bike man. Me and my wife will
- 24:42Speaker 6: be down there. My son also.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks a lot, Rex, I appreciate it.
- 24:47Speaker 5: All right. We love you guys.
- 24:48Speaker 1: You take care, all right, buddy, We'll see you. So
- 24:54Speaker 1: you went up to Eddie's house and he probably knew
- 25:00Speaker 1: that you you guys had had chosen him as as
- 25:04Speaker 1: the recipient.
- 25:07Speaker 2: No, not at the time.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I mean, we couldn't do anything until we got all
- 25:10Speaker 3: the interviews done and we went over all our notes
- 25:14Speaker 3: with every interview that we did. We had interviews for people,
- 25:19Speaker 3: somebody that lives in Bradford, somebody that lives all the
- 25:21Speaker 3: way down near Bell's Falls.
- 25:23Speaker 1: It's and it's what a decision.
- 25:27Speaker 3: It's hard, it really is. I mean we, you know,
- 25:30Speaker 3: take our notes, we write everything down the best that
- 25:32Speaker 3: we can and Stacy and Stacy Marian and Linn Craig
- 25:40Speaker 3: both helped with the interviews. We did a couple over
- 25:43Speaker 3: the phone just because we couldn't make it down to
- 25:46Speaker 3: these people and but with our notes, and it was
- 25:51Speaker 3: a toss up between Eddie and one other person.
- 25:54Speaker 1: And you know, what's what's amazing about the money that's
- 25:59Speaker 1: raised through Bikers for Bath is that when it goes
- 26:02Speaker 1: to the recipient, the recipient, there's no conditions. The recipient
- 26:10Speaker 1: can use this money for whatever they want any way
- 26:13Speaker 1: they want.
- 26:15Speaker 3: The pros that whatever we collect goes to the recipient.
- 26:18Speaker 1: It's all cash, sure, no cash, no overhead, nothing. I mean,
- 26:25Speaker 1: everyone is volunteering or donating. Food is coming.
- 26:30Speaker 3: From Josh is the one that handles the food.
- 26:34Speaker 1: So yep, over at Custos does an exceptional job every single.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Year, exceptional.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Totally rely on him, same mail.
- 26:42Speaker 3: It's easy. Oh my gosh, Sue Cass's mother is making
- 26:49Speaker 3: potato salad. I can't even think of what her last
- 26:53Speaker 3: name is the.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Same one its it's that the same uh potato salads
- 26:57Speaker 1: last year. Huh, that was unbelievable. We went for seconds.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Are you surprised? It was so good? The food is
- 27:06Speaker 1: always amazing and you're not going to go away hungry,
- 27:11Speaker 1: and you're definitely going to go away with a smile
- 27:13Speaker 1: and some laughter because everyone.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Getting together with every friends family.
- 27:17Speaker 1: What's the deal are we doing the silent auction? Are
- 27:19Speaker 1: we what's what's the raffle all of that stuff?
- 27:23Speaker 3: So I'm not we are going to be eventually selling
- 27:26Speaker 3: tickets for three for three raffle items. One of them
- 27:31Speaker 3: is definitely a saddle bag from Bergamot and a more
- 27:37Speaker 3: and they they've been great with their donations every year.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Williamstown always are.
- 27:42Speaker 2: We did the.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Ride for his father one year, but the day of
- 27:49Speaker 3: the were the kickoff party. We're going to be doing,
- 27:51Speaker 3: you know some selling tickets for some items and doing
- 27:58Speaker 3: you know, like we did last year. Yeah, it starts
- 28:02Speaker 3: at it's only from five to eight and Jane McGrath
- 28:05Speaker 3: will be playing for US. Shane McGrath, he played for
- 28:10Speaker 3: US last year, is.
- 28:11Speaker 1: So ridiculously talented. I don't even I don't even know
- 28:17Speaker 1: where to begin with that guy. I mean, the first
- 28:20Speaker 1: time I heard him, I was so blown away. Williamstown boy, Yeah,
- 28:24Speaker 1: my god, is he good? And everyone listening you should
- 28:28Speaker 1: tell him that I said that, because I mean, I've
- 28:30Speaker 1: told him, but he's so modest too. God man, he's
- 28:34Speaker 1: so good. Ye, And thank you Shane for doing that.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Yes, we appreciate it. And the day of the ride,
- 28:42Speaker 3: train Wreck is playing. Okay, wow, wow, first time we've
- 28:47Speaker 3: had a band in a long time.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Now, Eddie. Some of us would like to know if
- 28:57Speaker 1: you're willing to share and you don't have to. What
- 29:01Speaker 1: you might consider doing with the funds that are raised
- 29:08Speaker 1: for you for this year's Bikers for Beth. I have
- 29:12Speaker 1: medical bills.
- 29:13Speaker 4: That's why medical bills that Medicare does not pay, and
- 29:19Speaker 4: I see the only insurance I have. All I can
- 29:22Speaker 4: do is pay a little a little bit each time
- 29:25Speaker 4: that I can. That's all I can do. That's why
- 29:28Speaker 4: I'm working. Other than keeping my mind off and what
- 29:33Speaker 4: I've got, it keeps me saying, you know, if I
- 29:37Speaker 4: sat home did nothing, I'd go nuts. I'd go nuts,
- 29:45Speaker 4: you know, I'd drive me insane. Listen what I'd have
- 29:50Speaker 4: a lot of wondering to do. Of course, of course,
- 29:53Speaker 4: you know when you get this and you're never gonna
- 29:55Speaker 4: get you don't know if you're ever gonna get rid
- 29:56Speaker 4: of it or not. Because I have to go in
- 29:59Speaker 4: every four months. Colon Oscarby is the last one I
- 30:02Speaker 4: went in. They snipped out three more polyps and one
- 30:06Speaker 4: of them was cancerous. Okay, so in June I've got
- 30:10Speaker 4: to go look for another one. It's just going to
- 30:13Speaker 4: be an ongoing thing. Yeah, So it just keeps coming back,
- 30:19Speaker 4: and I.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Hear you have a good person who schedules.
- 30:22Speaker 4: Yes, I do, sweetheart.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Does she schedule the colon? Does she does she go
- 30:28Speaker 1: in there and hold your hand and insert the camera
- 30:32Speaker 1: and do all that stuff? She gets you? Does she
- 30:36Speaker 1: help with getting you in the in the little NIKEI.
- 30:42Speaker 2: There?
- 30:44Speaker 1: Listen, Eddie, you know, listen, this has been a tough
- 30:49Speaker 1: road for you. It's a tough road for for anybody
- 30:53Speaker 1: at any age, but for someone who's in their seventies
- 30:57Speaker 1: going through this.
- 30:59Speaker 4: I don't wish it on no one. I wish it
- 31:02Speaker 4: on no one. Yeah, but it doesn't. Cancer doesn't care
- 31:07Speaker 4: who would attack.
- 31:09Speaker 2: It does not discriminate.
- 31:10Speaker 4: It is not onsoever.
- 31:12Speaker 1: You know.
- 31:13Speaker 4: I never thought i'd come down with it.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Yeah, thankfully it was.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Unfortunately I caught mine in.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Time, probably because Linda suggested that you might go to
- 31:29Speaker 1: the doctor.
- 31:30Speaker 4: Well, see, I've never my whole life, I've never had
- 31:33Speaker 4: a colonoscoy. But now I tell everybody go get one early.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:38Speaker 4: I even taught my son and my sister and the
- 31:41Speaker 4: rest of them all in. My sister had nine poll
- 31:44Speaker 4: up taken out yea, and my son had all been
- 31:51Speaker 4: We're all negative. Yes, yeah, my son had one. It
- 31:55Speaker 4: was positive.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I'd say, you know, and there's so much you know
- 31:59Speaker 1: we here, Oh you as soon as you turn fifty,
- 32:02Speaker 1: you got to do it. Now they've downed it to
- 32:04Speaker 1: like forty eight years old, forty five? Is that what
- 32:07Speaker 1: it is now?
- 32:08Speaker 2: Forty five?
- 32:10Speaker 1: I say, man, you know, I say, if you're going
- 32:14Speaker 1: to your doctor anyways and you're forty, just ask the question.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Hey, if there's a family history of it, some doctors
- 32:22Speaker 3: will suggest doing it.
- 32:24Speaker 1: That's right earlier, exactly exactly it find out, you know,
- 32:29Speaker 1: ask around, Ask your family, do we have some history
- 32:32Speaker 1: of this running through our family? Ask these questions?
- 32:36Speaker 2: Yep.
- 32:37Speaker 4: I was like, my brother passed away from it. I
- 32:39Speaker 4: didn't think any of us.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Would have it.
- 32:42Speaker 4: I get it, Yeah, but I did you know your family?
- 32:47Speaker 4: You know. I'm just fighting it until yeah, hopefully I win.
- 32:51Speaker 1: It seems like it seems like it's a good fight, Eddie.
- 32:57Speaker 4: Yeah, as long as I keep my mind up in
- 33:00Speaker 4: it and keep moving and going on.
- 33:03Speaker 1: If I was, if I was cancer, I would be
- 33:08Speaker 1: a little intimidated by you. Just to look in your eyes.
- 33:12Speaker 1: You look like a badass, you do you look you
- 33:16Speaker 1: look like you got a lot of fight left in you.
- 33:18Speaker 4: Brother.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah, stubborn too.
- 33:21Speaker 4: I'm stubborn, very stubborn. Yeah, you know, as long as
- 33:27Speaker 4: I'm upright, I will fight, Yeah, not give in.
- 33:32Speaker 1: But you're still enjoying life. You're still playing it on
- 33:36Speaker 1: swinging leg on that microphone or on that motorcycle. You're
- 33:43Speaker 1: gonna get out this am I right?
- 33:46Speaker 4: Excuse me?
- 33:47Speaker 1: You're going to get out this spring on the bike? Right?
- 33:49Speaker 4: Oh? Yes, okay, oh yeah, I'll ride that thing till
- 33:52Speaker 4: I can't get on it no more.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Okay, all right, And Linda won't ride on the back
- 33:57Speaker 1: with you.
- 33:57Speaker 4: Now, I'm just gonna have to find another hundred twenty
- 34:00Speaker 4: pounder or something she get right.
- 34:02Speaker 1: On the back. Well, if you have a barn, you're
- 34:13Speaker 1: gonna be sleeping in anybody. I'm telling you that right now.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Let's get something like what I have.
- 34:18Speaker 1: He's got a talk house. Yeah, I have to get one.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Get him down tractor's fly, go down there and get one.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Oh my god, it's all one.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Donald. Where are we with? Uh? Silent auction items? Donations?
- 34:37Speaker 1: What do you guys need? First of all, kudos to
- 34:40Speaker 1: your whole committee too. You guys meet you guys meet
- 34:43Speaker 1: what once a month?
- 34:44Speaker 3: Once a month until close to the ride, and then
- 34:47Speaker 3: we do the week before and two weeks before the ride,
- 34:51Speaker 3: just to make sure we have everything in line.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Okay.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Eileen O'Connor has once again taken up doing the bottle drive.
- 34:59Speaker 3: It's been rough because Southbury doesn't can't take it to
- 35:04Speaker 3: Southburry and she has to wait at beverage baron for
- 35:08Speaker 3: them to count the returnables.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a job. That's a job in itself, it is.
- 35:17Speaker 3: I mean, she's I'm not sure where the farthest is
- 35:20Speaker 3: that she's been, but I know she just recently went
- 35:22Speaker 3: to Chelsea.
- 35:23Speaker 1: And wow, Yeah, what a freaking.
- 35:27Speaker 3: She's also helping, you know, collect donations too, so and
- 35:30Speaker 3: we are If any business is out there, you know,
- 35:33Speaker 3: please reach out. You can go to the Bikers for
- 35:35Speaker 3: Beth louisel Heman Way facebook page. You can send a

- 36:35Speaker 1: The send off prayer will be Steve yep by Steve England,
- 36:39Speaker 1: who is a survivor, beneficiary, a just a super human
- 36:45Speaker 1: being God. Happy birthday to Lisa too. She just celebrated
- 36:49Speaker 1: on she did. But there's another guy who's just had
- 36:54Speaker 1: prostate cancer and just whooped its assure. But there it's
- 37:00Speaker 1: going to be a barbecue, the raffle, live music afterwards

- 38:05Speaker 1: be determined.
- 38:07Speaker 3: We understand that there's a lot of construction going on
- 38:10Speaker 3: in the route, so Cindy has a couple of people
- 38:13Speaker 3: making doing look arounds and seeing what's going on.
- 38:17Speaker 1: I have ah a suggestion, but i'll make that off
- 38:24Speaker 1: the air with with you. Just ride that I did
- 38:26Speaker 1: not long ago, and I was stunned and how beautiful
- 38:29Speaker 1: it was and the roads were perfectly smooth. But whatever
- 38:33Speaker 1: we you're gonna let me know right away once you
- 38:36Speaker 1: guys finalize the route, and I'm going to put that
- 38:40Speaker 1: on Facebook. Yes immediately, Eddie, are you're going to be
- 38:45Speaker 1: riding this year? Did I already ask you that question?
- 38:47Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 38:47Speaker 1: You're going to try to ride? Okay, try Okay?
- 38:51Speaker 4: My health is.
- 38:54Speaker 2: On the day, one day at a time.
- 38:56Speaker 4: Yeah, where will we because I do have bad days
- 39:00Speaker 4: in short days.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Up Are you going to be upfront?
- 39:04Speaker 4: I don't know where I am. Okay, I have no
- 39:06Speaker 4: idea where I'm going to be. Okay, Okay, I haven't been.
- 39:09Speaker 4: Nobody said nothing.
- 39:10Speaker 1: So yeah, if.
- 39:12Speaker 3: You're going to be up front, get there as early
- 39:14Speaker 3: as Travis does.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Yeah. And you know, if you try to cut in
- 39:18Speaker 1: the line on Travis Payette.
- 39:21Speaker 4: He's my son in law, so he it doesn't matter.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Buddy, you don't put your If your front tire is
- 39:28Speaker 1: two inches ahead of his, it's not going to be good.
- 39:32Speaker 1: I've tried it before. It doesn't it doesn't work. He
- 39:35Speaker 1: gets pissed. So do we need more items for the
- 39:42Speaker 1: silent auction if we can get them?
- 39:44Speaker 3: Yes, he would love to get more items, and we
- 39:49Speaker 3: will definitely be having two or three live auction items, Okay,
- 39:54Speaker 3: bigger items.
- 39:55Speaker 1: What are the logistics on on doing that? What's the process?
- 40:00Speaker 2: Usually?
- 40:01Speaker 3: You know, it depends, you know how much Like last
- 40:05Speaker 3: year we did a Yeti cooler and everyone knows how
- 40:08Speaker 3: expensive yet He is or how high priced I should say,
- 40:11Speaker 3: And that was one of our live auction items. So
- 40:15Speaker 3: we go by, you know, depending on you know what
- 40:18Speaker 3: the item is and if we you know what we
- 40:22Speaker 3: can get off of it for a donation.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Boy, there's a lot of people listening right now. So
- 40:29Speaker 1: many people shout out from Jen Lapan, I don't know
- 40:34Speaker 1: if she's going to be riding this year, Kathy Email, Hi, Kathy,
- 40:38Speaker 1: gen Dilworth, Crystal, I mean, wow, there's.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Just Till Gale is actually my nephew, Dustin's sister.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, adore her, adore her. She listens every morning,
- 40:51Speaker 1: you know.
- 40:51Speaker 2: I see her commenting a lot.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Jason Sanborn as my son. Yeah, yeah, I'm sure if
- 40:57Speaker 1: he's riding, he'll be riding right next to you at
- 41:00Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 41:01Speaker 4: My son rides. My daughter rides.
- 41:04Speaker 1: How many kids you guys have to go to?
- 41:06Speaker 4: Two kids, one daughter and one son.
- 41:08Speaker 1: How old are they?
- 41:10Speaker 4: My son's fifties.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Well, you know Samantha JDA's daughter.
- 41:17Speaker 4: And she's in her fifties.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Can't say that, buddy, don't say that. Jesus, You're going
- 41:23Speaker 1: to catch a whole rappist ship for I'm afraid of her.
- 41:26Speaker 1: I am, Yeah, Kyle, he might be right, Okay, Kyle
- 41:35Speaker 1: might be riding too.
- 41:36Speaker 4: He might be riding to by my nephew from Florida's
- 41:41Speaker 4: coming up, but wow, yeah, I'll be here.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Yeah, well maybe we can get him on one. So
- 41:50Speaker 1: I'm you know, I'm surprised that that you and Donna
- 41:53Speaker 1: are are still friends, knowing that Donna is such a
- 41:57Speaker 1: proponent of strikes and loves them so much.
- 42:00Speaker 2: It's not a trick, JD.
- 42:02Speaker 4: I don't judge.
- 42:02Speaker 3: He am spider trikes have the two wheels in the back.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Does it have three wheels together? Yes?
- 42:11Speaker 1: Then I'm surprised your friends with Eddie still period.
- 42:15Speaker 4: I don't judge no one what they ride.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Okay, I judge should judge. I'm a motorcycle rider.
- 42:20Speaker 3: I got my license just like the next person. And
- 42:24Speaker 3: because I choose to ride three wheels.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Sure, what about Gary? Is he riding?
- 42:28Speaker 3: I'm not sure if he's riding this year or not.
- 42:30Speaker 3: I think for Eddie.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Will you know what I love about this event is
- 42:34Speaker 1: that people just come up from everywhere. Let me, people
- 42:39Speaker 1: that don't even know you, Eddie, People people that don't
- 42:42Speaker 1: know the recipient, they'll be there. I mean, motorcyclists love
- 42:47Speaker 1: to do the stuff we get. We get groups and
- 42:49Speaker 1: clubs that'll come over from New York, some that come
- 42:51Speaker 1: down from Canada, Massachusetts, and and look at Artie b
- 42:56Speaker 1: My god, I freaking love that guy.
- 42:59Speaker 3: You know, day we see him, well, keep.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Watch because he's going to be on aired out real soon.
- 43:07Speaker 1: By the way. But I don't want to make that
- 43:09Speaker 1: announcement just yet. I think I just did. But Artie
- 43:13Speaker 1: is you know, a couple of years ago he left.
- 43:18Speaker 1: I think he was down in Massachusetts or somewhere somewhere
- 43:20Speaker 1: far away, left at like five in the morning to
- 43:24Speaker 1: get up here. And he's like, I'm just arriving now.
- 43:28Speaker 1: And I'm like, dude, are you crazy? And he's like,
- 43:31Speaker 1: I wouldn't miss this for anything.
- 43:35Speaker 4: Great guy, awful lot of good people out there. I
- 43:38Speaker 4: appreciate all of them.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Yeah, and this ride, I should say, is very well organized.
- 43:45Speaker 1: It's safe. There's kind of a debriefing ahead of time
- 43:50Speaker 1: of what spots to be, you know, exercise some more
- 43:53Speaker 1: caution in it's blocked well intersections. We have stopping points.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Are they the same as the past? So there'd be
- 44:02Speaker 1: Route five right there, twenty five and five at the
- 44:06Speaker 1: mobile station. Then we bang a left on five. We
- 44:09Speaker 1: go north up to Wells River and then to P
- 44:13Speaker 1: and H truck stop at the junction of Exit seventeen
- 44:18Speaker 1: there on ninety one North and we stopped there for
- 44:20Speaker 1: a little bit, pee break, photos, food snacks, whenever you need,
- 44:26Speaker 1: drink whatever, hang out for a little bit. Jerry Portress
- 44:32Speaker 1: is actually going to be going up in a hot
- 44:35Speaker 1: air balloon this year with.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Hang on.
- 44:40Speaker 1: It's tethered with his camera and he'll be photographing all
- 44:46Speaker 1: of the motorcyclists together, which is fantastic. Of course, you
- 44:50Speaker 1: remember when he climbed that guy's tractor track.
- 44:52Speaker 2: I heard about it.
- 44:53Speaker 3: I I remember that.
- 44:55Speaker 4: You remember that he climber asked the guy and the
- 44:58Speaker 4: guys climbered up on.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Top of it.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Did a camper one year too?
- 45:02Speaker 1: Yeah, someone's camper? Yeah, Canadian? I think they were. And
- 45:05Speaker 1: he was like, do you mind if I crawl up
- 45:08Speaker 1: on top of your camper?
- 45:10Speaker 3: And he's a person who's afraid of heights.
- 45:13Speaker 1: He's afraid of heights. Yes, I remember that. Remember that.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Remember everyone's yelling at him, don't slep b But Jerry's
- 45:23Speaker 1: such a great guy. He does amazing pictures. He rides along,
- 45:27Speaker 1: he takes pictures, He actually rides his motorcycle with one
- 45:30Speaker 1: hand and with the other hand snaps that. Have you
- 45:34Speaker 1: seen him do that, Linda, Yeah, sick bastard. Really. I
- 45:39Speaker 1: don't know how he does it, but he's he is,
- 45:45Speaker 1: but he takes great pictures. And and so then after
- 45:49Speaker 1: PNH will stay on three oh two, watch out for
- 45:51Speaker 1: a couple of frost heaves and and some that that
- 45:54Speaker 1: road takes a beating every year during the winter. And
- 45:57Speaker 1: then three oh two back to Barry.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Through the city and take a left here on two.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Metroway one one thirty quarter or two somewhere in that ballpark.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, somewhere between.
- 46:09Speaker 1: A lot of people show up and receive the bikers
- 46:14Speaker 1: when they come back.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Yeah, they do.
- 46:16Speaker 1: And the bikers make it very well known that they're back.
- 46:22Speaker 3: We just ask, you know, those people out there in
- 46:24Speaker 3: their vehicles, do not try to cut the bikes off.
- 46:28Speaker 2: We're not.
- 46:29Speaker 3: This isn't just a fun ride. It is a fun ride,
- 46:32Speaker 3: but at the same time, we're doing it for a reason.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Sure we are.
- 46:35Speaker 3: And it's just so rude when you have a vehicle,
- 46:38Speaker 3: somebody in a vehicle trying to cut a bike off
- 46:40Speaker 3: and it's happened, It has happened.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Yeah, it has. What else do we need to know?
- 46:50Speaker 1: We need we need some more silent auction items. Get them, yeah,
- 46:55Speaker 1: get them to you more.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Yeah, reach out to me.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Send a message to the Bikers for Beth okay facebook page,
- 47:02Speaker 3: Cindy and I yeah, you know we we monitor that page, okay.
- 47:09Speaker 1: And if anyone wants to make any kind of donation,
- 47:11Speaker 1: even if you're in a different state, if you're not
- 47:13Speaker 1: going to be here you it's so easy to do
- 47:17Speaker 1: it is yep. Just get on Bikers for Beth on Facebook.
- 47:21Speaker 1: That's simple, and it's all going to uh this good
- 47:24Speaker 1: looking chap here right in front of me, Eddie, Sam.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Not what you said a minute ago. I'm not going
- 47:31Speaker 1: to say what you said about your wife when you
- 47:32Speaker 1: watch in here. Lord. But you guys have been married
- 47:37Speaker 1: for fifty four years. Congratulations. So what's the secret to
- 47:42Speaker 1: fifty four years together?
- 47:43Speaker 4: Ear plugs?
- 47:44Speaker 1: Ear plugs, ear plugs. What are you saying, Linda, Yeah,
- 47:50Speaker 1: he's deaf, right, ear plugs. He's deaf and he needs
- 47:54Speaker 1: ear plugs. And so there's a there's a good amount
- 47:57Speaker 1: of selective hearing that's going on, I think. And he's
- 48:00Speaker 1: just stubborn. God, how do you do it. Linda, does
- 48:03Speaker 1: someone pay you by the hour to deal with this guy?
- 48:06Speaker 1: She's you'd be a millionaire wow pa in the Yeah, yeah,
- 48:18Speaker 1: I you know it's funny, uh, Eddie. The second you
- 48:22Speaker 1: walked in here, I felt like I've known you for
- 48:25Speaker 1: a long time. I think a lot of people feel
- 48:27Speaker 1: that way about you. You're just one of those guys, you're.
- 48:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm an old time German, so yeah, I grew
- 48:36Speaker 4: up having it rough. So yes, yeah, you didn't have
- 48:45Speaker 4: much and I learned appreciate what I had.
- 48:49Speaker 1: And that was it. Yeah. Good team of doctors that
- 48:56Speaker 1: are taking care of that up there on the hill though, right, Yeah, yes.
- 49:01Speaker 4: Oh, I give him some crap sometimes.
- 49:04Speaker 1: I can't even imagine. You wouldn't believe if some if
- 49:10Speaker 1: I was a doctor and I saw you coming in,
- 49:12Speaker 1: especially after this conversation this morning, I'd be like, you
- 49:15Speaker 1: guys are up in my salary twenty percent if I
- 49:17Speaker 1: got to deal with this guy. Oh and Linda is
- 49:22Speaker 1: stubborn too? Is he missing? Is it? Tilia listener?
- 49:30Speaker 4: Yeah, Dean uh Tila, Tilia.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Yeah, Yila. She says you're pretty stubborn too.
- 49:39Speaker 5: I'm the bitch of the family.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Excusey so the fireworks get flying sometimes. Oh yeah, but
- 49:47Speaker 1: you've remained together all these years, fifty four years.
- 49:50Speaker 5: Have you ever had a divorce?
- 49:54Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 49:54Speaker 4: Right, anyways, you don't divorced because I ain't got nothing
- 49:58Speaker 4: you can have.
- 50:02Speaker 1: Listen, and I say this genuinely. There's so many folks
- 50:10Speaker 1: that are listening who are posting comments of first and
- 50:14Speaker 1: foremost above everything, love to you and support and encouragement,
- 50:20Speaker 1: but also belief in you that if there's anybody that
- 50:26Speaker 1: can handle this, it's a tough old guy like you. You know,
- 50:35Speaker 1: you're a strong dude. I wouldn't tangle with you right now.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I can see it in your eye. You got some fight, man,
- 50:44Speaker 1: and you need to stay positive, stay encouraged, and you're
- 50:50Speaker 1: going to know damn well on May eighteenth how well
- 50:56Speaker 1: you're loved, because you're going to see a lot of
- 50:59Speaker 1: people there that love you.
- 51:02Speaker 4: It's just one thing I never expected. And like I
- 51:06Speaker 4: told her, I'm I'm not a person that I don't
- 51:10Speaker 4: know how to say out a word for it, but
- 51:14Speaker 4: I think there's other people that are worse than me.
- 51:18Speaker 4: But mhm, I'm just that's the way I was brought up,
- 51:23Speaker 4: you know. Yeah, But you know I don't know what
- 51:27Speaker 4: the word is for it, not selfish or whatever the
- 51:30Speaker 4: hell is. It's just the way I was brought up.
- 51:33Speaker 1: You're a humble guy.
- 51:36Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I think other people before I think
- 51:39Speaker 4: of myself.
- 51:40Speaker 1: You would you'd rather give than receives?
- 51:45Speaker 4: Right?
- 51:45Speaker 1: Yeah? Is there anything I'm missing? Donna? There any Is
- 51:56Speaker 1: there anything that that we're missing here? I want to

- 52:48Speaker 1: you've been through a lot.
- 52:49Speaker 4: Well. I went through hell. First couple of times I
- 52:53Speaker 4: thought I was in hell, especially after I ended up
- 52:57Speaker 4: with septic almost died. It makes you think, sure, it
- 53:03Speaker 4: makes you and then having set and then having COVID
- 53:06Speaker 4: on top of it afterwards, You've never been so sick
- 53:09Speaker 4: in your life for two weeks?
- 53:11Speaker 1: Never?
- 53:12Speaker 4: Yeah, never have you been there?
- 53:14Speaker 1: You you had quite the infection. Yeah.
- 53:19Speaker 4: If I hung around home another hour or two, I
- 53:21Speaker 4: wouldn't be here right now.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Yeah, well, your your whole body was was poisoned.
- 53:30Speaker 4: Yeah. And I was asked if they to reconnect it,
- 53:33Speaker 4: and I told him where you could go with reconnection?
- 53:39Speaker 4: I did? I sure did. He keeps trying to ask
- 53:43Speaker 4: me every time I go for a colost you come
- 53:46Speaker 4: in and have that reconnection, And I said, I told
- 53:48Speaker 4: you once, sorry, what you can do with your reconnection.
- 53:50Speaker 1: So I'll play with this.
- 53:54Speaker 4: I'll play with colossia bag even though it's a mess
- 53:56Speaker 4: of stinks and everything else. I'll deal with it. But
- 53:59Speaker 4: I'm not going to deal with almost dying again.
- 54:03Speaker 1: No way, he says.
- 54:05Speaker 4: Some people, he says, they heal up, fine. I said,
- 54:08Speaker 4: well I didn't, and the way I felt and what
- 54:11Speaker 4: was on my mind and everything what I was told, No, yeah,
- 54:15Speaker 4: it ain't gonna happen. Good for you, for you know,
- 54:19Speaker 4: like I said, I'm stubborn. Yeah, well you know, I
- 54:22Speaker 4: went through hell and I'm not going to go through
- 54:23Speaker 4: it again.
- 54:24Speaker 1: You're also you're stubborn, yes, but you're also you're advocating
- 54:29Speaker 1: for yourself. And good for you for speaking up and
- 54:31Speaker 1: saying that I'd probably do the same thing. Man, Really,
- 54:38Speaker 1: quile of your life, dude.
- 54:39Speaker 4: You know, I feel a little better, feel better, and

- 54:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I went from uh, two hundred and forty three pounds,
- 54:57Speaker 4: I'm down to one hundred and eighty two.
- 55:00Speaker 1: Wow.
- 55:02Speaker 4: Wow, probably another reason why I feel a little better.
- 55:07Speaker 1: Who knows? Listen comment here that cancer doesn't know who
