Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for a sports update on a podcast.
- 0:04Speaker 2: The Monday night Football Week one matchup will feature an
- 0:07Speaker 2: AFC West showdown between the Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 0:11Speaker 1: The struggling New York Mets are calling up.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Outfield prospect aj Ewing and finally, back in nineteen sixty seven,
- 0:20Speaker 2: Martin Luther King Junior cover the cause of Julia Roberts
- 0:24Speaker 2: hospital burn.
- 0:25Speaker 1: How about that, Gojoe.
- 0:27Speaker 2: The Mets are so bad and so desperate they have
- 0:30Speaker 2: called up their number two prospect. The number one prospect
- 0:34Speaker 2: is already up. He's playing now. Aj Ewing is playing
- 0:38Speaker 2: for the Mets. That's how bad this team is. And
- 0:41Speaker 2: how about that another Ewing in New York?
- 0:43Speaker 1: Gojo?
- 0:45Speaker 3: Incredible day the Mets. What's going on? It is?
- 0:49Speaker 1: I mean, how about that AFC West show down? Huh?
- 0:51Speaker 3: I mean, anyone else? Get chills?
- 1:00Speaker 4: I go Joe?
- 1:00Speaker 1: How are you?
- 1:01Speaker 3: I'm good. I'm used to guys.
- 1:04Speaker 2: You're engaged now, Gojo. We have some things we want
- 1:06Speaker 2: to discuss with you. The Bear, I think is something
- 1:08Speaker 2: we want to discuss with you. With television show that
- 1:11Speaker 2: Mike Ye brought up an hour number one. Taylor just
- 1:13Speaker 2: started watching Breaking Bad. I want to get into Lane
- 1:16Speaker 2: Kiffin and who's more racist, Mississippi or LSU. But it's unbelievable.
- 1:23Speaker 2: What is Lane? What is Lane doing? It's incredible. But anyway, Gojo,
- 1:29Speaker 2: congratulations to you. You are engaged, and I am. I'm
- 1:32Speaker 2: halfway through your best man speech, just so you know.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I was just gonna ask how it was coming along,
- 1:38Speaker 3: because that was my first thought in the moment, not
- 1:42Speaker 3: Oh my God, I've against all odds, found this partner
- 1:45Speaker 3: that I get to spend the rest of my life with.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Oh god, my mom probably somewhere weeping, knowing that she's
- 1:51Speaker 3: finally married off the last of her children, and the
- 1:54Speaker 3: one that I'm sure for her felt the most hopeless,
- 1:57Speaker 3: considering each of the other two have given her two grandkids.
- 2:00Speaker 3: It's at this point, but my mind wasn't anywhere there.
- 2:03Speaker 3: It was Oh, yes, Stu Gotts finally is going to
- 2:06Speaker 3: have his muse, his masterpiece with which to paint in
- 2:10Speaker 3: my best man speech.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I can't wait, Stu.
- 2:13Speaker 5: Are you going to go to Gojo's wedding? Because I
- 2:15Speaker 5: feel like Gojo looks up to you as almost like
- 2:17Speaker 5: a mentor of sorts, and you're notorious for bailing last
- 2:21Speaker 5: minute for things. And it feels like Gojo would really
- 2:24Speaker 5: appreciate if you're at the wedding, But you are somebody
- 2:27Speaker 5: who is kind of hard to pin down.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I mean, I'm his best man. I'm not so certain
- 2:33Speaker 2: that Gojo has invited me to the wedding. I haven't
- 2:35Speaker 2: gotten an invite yet. I don't know am I invited Mike.
- 2:37Speaker 3: I mean, oh, Stu Gott's yours is the first one
- 2:40Speaker 3: going out. Because to Taylor's point, this can go one
- 2:43Speaker 3: of two ways for me. One Stucott shows up at
- 2:45Speaker 3: my wedding, Wow, what an upset for everyone else who's invited.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Stu Gotts only in vain. And two, if you don't come,
- 2:53Speaker 3: I know the gift's going to be there. Like yes,
- 2:55Speaker 3: I know exactly how the game goes on this front.
- 2:58Speaker 3: What I'm excited for is if you don't don't come,
- 3:01Speaker 3: because I saw the other day you're posted pictures your
- 3:04Speaker 3: daughter's graduating. You've raised these young women, they're getting ready
- 3:07Speaker 3: to go out into the world, and soon there will
- 3:10Speaker 3: be no more lacrosse mitzvahs for you to use. And
- 3:13Speaker 3: so I'm wondering what the next round of excuses are
- 3:17Speaker 3: gonna look like. When you start bailing on.
- 3:19Speaker 1: This, there's always more excuses. Taylor put it on the poll.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Are there always more excuses? Listen?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Thank god Rachel got that extra year of eligibility. Oh okay,
- 3:30Speaker 2: there we go, So don't have it. Don't have it
- 3:33Speaker 2: during lacrosse season, all right, because I got, like, you know,
- 3:36Speaker 2: twenty five thirty games to go here.
- 3:37Speaker 6: You know, lacrosse season is twelve months a year, Mike,
- 3:40Speaker 6: Just so you're clear, and I look forward to collaborating
- 3:45Speaker 6: with Taylor on writing the speech for Stu Gotts to
- 3:47Speaker 6: not deliver at your wedding.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Well, Taylor, listen, he is.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Mike mentioned the photos that I'm posting a graduation those
- 3:53Speaker 2: are posted by Taylor. Taylor actually wrote the congratulations to
- 3:57Speaker 2: m before graduating, and my wife said, Jesus Christ, will
- 4:00Speaker 2: you get a hold of your account.
- 4:05Speaker 3: No, it's not happy. I just appreciate that both of
- 4:10Speaker 3: the mentors in my life cannot be bothered to run
- 4:13Speaker 3: their own social Stu Gotts has you guys ghostwriting everything
- 4:17Speaker 3: for him. And I don't think my dad has posted
- 4:20Speaker 3: something to his socials without my sister's help in a
- 4:23Speaker 3: decade plus. My sister's the best paid social media manager
- 4:28Speaker 3: in all of sports. I could tell you that without fail.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I'm glad you brought up your father because all I
- 4:33Speaker 2: heard was you got the three of you just laughing
- 4:36Speaker 2: at me because I'm having computer issues. I can't get connected.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I had to put readers on to read the update.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I am your dad. I mean, what were you guys
- 4:45Speaker 2: laughing about?
- 4:46Speaker 3: Yeah, Mike, so I as you dealt with your first
- 4:50Speaker 3: bout of computer issues, Taylor and Mike, you were both like,
- 4:54Speaker 3: you know, Stu Gott's is the worst when it comes
- 4:57Speaker 3: to computer issues, and I threw out, my dad has
- 5:00Speaker 3: giving you a run for his money, And both these
- 5:02Speaker 3: guys understandably pointed out they've worked with my dad plenty
- 5:05Speaker 3: and while he's on the metal stand, you were the goat.
- 5:08Speaker 3: So that's why we made the comparison that you are
- 5:10Speaker 3: Tom Brady throwing the very technologically damaged football to my dad.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Rob Gronkowski in the all time lineup of guys who
- 5:19Speaker 3: can outwork their computers despite working in an industry that's
- 5:22Speaker 3: necessitated you do so for years now.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Gojo.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Where the difference between you are worth with your dad
- 5:28Speaker 5: and Stu Gotts lies is if your dad is having
- 5:31Speaker 5: computer issues.
- 5:33Speaker 3: It will kill your dad.
- 5:34Speaker 5: Your dad will lose sleep over the fact that he's
- 5:37Speaker 5: having computer issues until those issues get resolved. When Stu
- 5:41Speaker 5: Gotts has computer issues, he just throws his hands up
- 5:44Speaker 5: and goes, it'll probably be fixed sometime soon. I don't
- 5:47Speaker 5: know how, I don't know who's gonna do it, but
- 5:49Speaker 5: something's gonna fix it.
- 5:51Speaker 1: It'll fix itself. Yep.
- 5:52Speaker 6: For the record, I asked your dad last week to
- 5:55Speaker 6: come on and he said that he had sent all
- 5:57Speaker 6: of his equipment back to FanDuel and he didn't have
- 6:00Speaker 6: a microphone.
- 6:01Speaker 4: And I said, oh, that's no.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Problem, we'll get you.
- 6:04Speaker 4: We'll get you another time.
- 6:05Speaker 6: Not two hours later did he text me back and
- 6:08Speaker 6: go I went and got a microphone if you still
- 6:11Speaker 6: need me. Stu Gotts has needed a new computer since
- 6:15Speaker 6: we started this venture back in twenty twenty.
- 6:18Speaker 4: Yeah, and he has yet to go get one. Yeah,
- 6:20Speaker 4: but he still.
- 6:21Speaker 6: Deals with the same computer issues and always says, it's
- 6:24Speaker 6: this damn Internet.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, yes, not the computer, it's the World Wide Web.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Really.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Yes, it's the perfect summation of my dad studios. You're right.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Nothing has ever painted the picture more accurately than that.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Gojo The perfect representation of this is when we're at
- 6:47Speaker 5: the studio doing the radio show for Fox Sports Radio, Me,
- 6:52Speaker 5: Izzy and Stu Gotts are all in the same room together.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Stu Gotts is having Internet issues and he goes the
- 6:57Speaker 5: Internet here just not working, and we have to remind him, Hey,
- 7:01Speaker 5: we're all on the same internet.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Ye they got me shoved way back in that room.
- 7:06Speaker 2: I'm sitting in, you know, the number one seat, and
- 7:08Speaker 2: I'm telling you the server.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Is not close to my computer.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not serving if the factor's it's a
- 7:13Speaker 2: good Internet connection or not. But the server is very
- 7:16Speaker 2: far away. I mean, I like once server. I have
- 7:19Speaker 2: no idea.
- 7:21Speaker 3: I like to imagine Stu Gotts in twenty twenty six,
- 7:24Speaker 3: when his phone call is not going through, is still
- 7:27Speaker 3: walking outside and trying to hold it up to be
- 7:30Speaker 3: closer to the phone tower.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Wait, you're not supposed to do that.
- 7:37Speaker 4: Seek the high ground?
- 7:38Speaker 3: Can you hear me? Now?
- 7:39Speaker 1: Guy? I keep moving seat the seat, hoping it will
- 7:44Speaker 1: improve my Internet. I remember three of you. Got man.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I'm old, I'm old, I'm sorry, I'm lazy. Listen. Computers
- 7:54Speaker 1: are changing, I mean, and.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Don't I get intimidated when I walk into the store,
- 7:58Speaker 2: the electronics store. I don't know what computer to buy,
- 8:01Speaker 2: which one has the proper outlets, which one has the
- 8:03Speaker 2: proper connection in the good sound that Taylor wants. So
- 8:06Speaker 2: I don't know what to do. I walked in there
- 8:07Speaker 2: several times and then walked right back out.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Mike, I mean, see Taylor and Mikey. I think you
- 8:13Speaker 3: guys can appreciate this, like, because I used to get
- 8:16Speaker 3: frustrated when my dad would author similar replies to stuff
- 8:20Speaker 3: because usually, and I'm sure you guys have spelled out
- 8:23Speaker 3: exactly what Stu Gotts needs, and that hasn't helped the
- 8:25Speaker 3: situation at all. But in this current world we're living in,
- 8:29Speaker 3: we're every day there's a new AI bot that's come
- 8:32Speaker 3: out and some new doomsday headline. I'm realizing quickly the
- 8:36Speaker 3: tech curve is going to render me into my dad
- 8:39Speaker 3: and Stu Gotts much quicker than they got shown the
- 8:42Speaker 3: door by technology. So I found myself a lot more
- 8:45Speaker 3: empathetic because I'm afraid because I already feel like a
- 8:48Speaker 3: boomer when it comes to current technology.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Sure Jojo a great point.
- 8:52Speaker 5: I also know for a fact that Stu Gotts has
- 8:54Speaker 5: not walked into any stores yeah.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah, there was this time I walked in with Beyond
- 9:00Speaker 2: and I had two computers. I didn't have my best
- 9:02Speaker 2: by card, and I told the guy I'll be right back,
- 9:04Speaker 2: and I never showed up.
- 9:05Speaker 4: I mean, see, what Stu needs is he needs a
- 9:09Speaker 4: Sydney golic.
- 9:10Speaker 6: Okay, he needs somebody with full access to his credit card,
- 9:13Speaker 6: and we'll use it for her own personal games.
- 9:16Speaker 4: But at the same time, we'll.
- 9:17Speaker 6: Make sure that you get what you need, right like listen,
- 9:20Speaker 6: computer for you, two for me.
- 9:22Speaker 4: That's how we're gonna do this.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yes, it Yeah, she didn't buy her dad anything. I
- 9:26Speaker 2: mean she has that credit card and she didn't buy
- 9:28Speaker 2: him any equipment.
- 9:28Speaker 4: I mean he doesn't have the technical issues you do.
- 9:31Speaker 4: I wonder why.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I prefer not to think.
- 9:39Speaker 3: I'll let Sydney reach out to your daughters and explain
- 9:42Speaker 3: the system how it works.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yes, Gojo. Do we have a date on this wedding yet?
- 9:46Speaker 2: Because who wouldn't want to go to a goldic wedding?
- 9:49Speaker 2: Of course I'm going to be there. Do we have
- 9:50Speaker 2: a date yet?
- 9:51Speaker 3: Do we know? We don't have a date yet, So
- 9:54Speaker 3: it's good that you reminded me of the extra year
- 9:56Speaker 3: of eligibility. So I know now to avoid that. So
- 10:00Speaker 3: as always thinking spring or summer next year. Because we're
- 10:03Speaker 3: in industry, we want to make sure that all the
- 10:05Speaker 3: people that we know and love were usually very busy
- 10:08Speaker 3: during the fall and the spring, are going to have
- 10:10Speaker 3: the time to do this. But no no date set yet.
- 10:14Speaker 3: I am lobbying Stu Gotts and hear me out on this.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I'm lobbying because I'm going to be thirty seven years
- 10:20Speaker 3: old in September, so I'm later to getting married than
- 10:23Speaker 3: the majority of my friends. And at this point, majority
- 10:26Speaker 3: of my friends, We've done a million weddings. We've done
- 10:29Speaker 3: the tuxes, We've done the wedding parties. I am lobbying
- 10:32Speaker 3: for the most dressed down wedding possible. If I could
- 10:36Speaker 3: do it in my backyard, I promise you I would.
- 10:39Speaker 3: I'm trying to float the idea of renting a house
- 10:41Speaker 3: somewhere that's got a pool and having everyone just wear
- 10:44Speaker 3: bathing suits. I don't want people to have to rent tuxes.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I don't want to have a wedding party who feels
- 10:50Speaker 3: like they have to show up early and do all that.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Because I've done that, and then once I've gone to
- 10:54Speaker 3: weddings as a person not in the party and realized
- 10:57Speaker 3: how much better and easier life is. I don't want
- 10:59Speaker 3: to put people through that on account of me. We've
- 11:02Speaker 3: done this, I got the love, I'm getting all the
- 11:04Speaker 3: important parts out of this. I want this to be
- 11:06Speaker 3: a very fun, very relaxed party. And I realize as
- 11:10Speaker 3: I'm saying this now, none of it matters, because none
- 11:12Speaker 3: of this is about what I want. So I'm going
- 11:14Speaker 3: to just vent this all to you guys, and then
- 11:17Speaker 3: count on the fact that she'll never listen to this
- 11:19Speaker 3: podcast ever.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Don't you dare dangle Brian Kelly in a bathing suit
- 11:22Speaker 2: in front of me and then go back on your word? Okay,
- 11:25Speaker 2: because if Brian Kelly's wearing a bathing suit at your wedding,
- 11:27Speaker 2: I'm there first one there.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I'll be there early about that.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Steve Gott's I'll do you one better because my dream scenario,
- 11:33Speaker 3: like my fiance is from Louisiana. There is no one
- 11:36Speaker 3: on earth she loves more than Coacho, and so all
- 11:41Speaker 3: I want I want Coach O to officiate the wedding
- 11:45Speaker 3: all my man, I want Coach O in the bathing
- 11:47Speaker 3: suit at the pool after just dripping it like there's
- 11:50Speaker 3: a chance I get left at the altar, and I'm
- 11:53Speaker 3: still willing to risk that because the idea of Coach
- 11:56Speaker 3: O coming and being the efficient at our wedding is
- 11:58Speaker 3: too good for me to pay up. From a content standpoint.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Yes, Mikey, why are you shaking your head? What's happening?
- 12:05Speaker 6: I'm just thinking about all the suntan oil that's going
- 12:08Speaker 6: to be dripping off Coach oh as he's trying to
- 12:10Speaker 6: read your vows and who can understand them? And I
- 12:13Speaker 6: just I'm trying to decide my course of action to
- 12:16Speaker 6: get an invite. Do I pressure Gojo No, because he
- 12:19Speaker 6: probably doesn't have enough say to get me there? I
- 12:22Speaker 6: Do I go to Mama Golic because she I imagine
- 12:26Speaker 6: she's gonna have some say. Or do I try and
- 12:30Speaker 6: sort of get in with the bride so I get
- 12:32Speaker 6: the invite?
- 12:33Speaker 4: And honestly, I think I'm gonna go Christine Goliic.
- 12:35Speaker 3: That's where I think I'm gonna go with the happening.
- 12:36Speaker 2: How About I pitch the Golicks a live show from
- 12:39Speaker 2: the wedding and they need you to be there for it.
- 12:41Speaker 4: How about that?
- 12:42Speaker 3: So Stu Gott from the were getting You're getting to
- 12:46Speaker 3: the heart of what I want. Yes, because what the
- 12:49Speaker 3: one thing in talking to everyone I have about their weddings,
- 12:52Speaker 3: their experience and the early information gathering. This shit's expensive
- 12:58Speaker 3: and so yep, I want to sell the wedding. Oh like,
- 13:02Speaker 3: I want my tucks or whatever I wear to look
- 13:05Speaker 3: like a NASCAR jacket, just logos everywhere. I want this
- 13:10Speaker 3: to be the goal the Golic Wedding presented by Stu
- 13:14Speaker 3: Gotson Company. I want banners, I want live ad reads
- 13:18Speaker 3: during the ceremony itself. I want the cake cutting sponsored.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I want all of it. And I feel like you're
- 13:24Speaker 3: the perfect person to help me make this happen.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I'm gonna help you make this happen. This is delightful.
- 13:28Speaker 2: We're all smiling. Ear to ear tailors. Probably what's going on, Taylor.
- 13:33Speaker 5: I'm just imagining Stu gott starting his best man speech.
- 13:36Speaker 5: He go and then he before he starts, he goes.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Before I have anything to say, I just have to
- 13:41Speaker 5: remind you, guys, this is brought to you by ZIP recruiter.
- 13:47Speaker 2: It's got to be a jeweler, right, it has to be.
- 13:49Speaker 2: We need to get a free ring out of this.
- 13:53Speaker 6: Do you take this woman to be your lowfully wedded bride,
- 13:56Speaker 6: presented by the Subway Fresh Tank Hotline.
- 14:00Speaker 3: And as I sit around and stare at these beautiful
- 14:03Speaker 3: arrangements presented by one hundred flowers.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Flowers, listen, we'll work out the kings here and we'll
- 14:08Speaker 2: get this thing.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Uh, we'll get it, like we'll get it the right
- 14:11Speaker 1: plan intact here.
- 14:12Speaker 2: You need to just have a Subway Fresh tak hotline
- 14:14Speaker 2: for people for invites who don't go, and they can
- 14:16Speaker 2: leave a voicemail congratulating the new family.
- 14:19Speaker 1: How about that, see she.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Got That's so good because everyone does that book where
- 14:23Speaker 3: people go in and sign that no no. We need
- 14:26Speaker 3: a microphone for the people that are there to award
- 14:29Speaker 3: their takes and then the cat. Wow, that's I actually
- 14:32Speaker 3: might do that. That sounds like an incredible idea.
- 14:35Speaker 4: What do you mean, might do it?
- 14:36Speaker 1: This is what we're doing, cy texts you. As I said,
- 14:40Speaker 1: I am so I know it's so cute.
- 14:43Speaker 3: This is this is a fun fan fiction for me
- 14:45Speaker 3: before reality sets it.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yes, when you asked her to marry you, what you
- 14:49Speaker 2: did was you you resigned your right to ever have
- 14:51Speaker 2: a say about anything ever again. Okay, that's what you did,
- 14:55Speaker 2: but I am in I am so jealous of this idea.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I'll consider divorcing Abby remarry How about that.
- 15:01Speaker 3: It's just gonna divorce Abby, remarry her on the same
- 15:07Speaker 3: day of my wedding and do all of this stuff there.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Instead of that. That's a double wedding.
- 15:13Speaker 5: Gojo, your car is going to be going away at
- 15:16Speaker 5: the end of the night with you and your your
- 15:18Speaker 5: new wife, and Stu Gotts is gonna remind everybody, all
- 15:21Speaker 5: right that was brought to you by Shell pennz Oil Performance.
- 15:26Speaker 6: As they drive off with their Progressive home and Auto insurance.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Pundling save.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Well, this has to happen.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Brian Kelly, so he's definitely on the invite list, right,
- 15:40Speaker 2: I mean, there's no doubt.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you know. I'm gonna go back in the
- 15:44Speaker 3: vault and see how many of my old coaches that
- 15:47Speaker 3: I can get into one room at the same time,
- 15:49Speaker 3: because I feel like a table, you know what, I
- 15:52Speaker 3: want to recreate more or less, and I feel like
- 15:55Speaker 3: this is something that everyone sorely misses. Do you guys
- 15:58Speaker 3: remember the Coaches film old cast for the National Championships
- 16:02Speaker 3: in college football back in the day Larry Fedora feet
- 16:05Speaker 3: kicked up on the table, taking everyone through it. I
- 16:08Speaker 3: just want the coaches film room over at one table,
- 16:11Speaker 3: breaking down the wedding in real time like it's Game day.
- 16:15Speaker 6: Wow, the coach's film room mixed with Glazer's party for
- 16:19Speaker 6: the coaches, his pool party for the coaches out in
- 16:23Speaker 6: the owners meetings.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Yes that oddly no one cared about. Go ahead, Taylor.
- 16:27Speaker 5: So I don't want to make any any promises, Golick,
- 16:29Speaker 5: But if I could get a plus one to this wedding,
- 16:31Speaker 5: I could ask for door, Larry Fedor could come home.
- 16:34Speaker 3: See because he was the star of that show, Like
- 16:37Speaker 3: Larry Fedora is the one name that I remember from that.
- 16:40Speaker 3: So Taylor, consider your plus one signed, sealed and delivered.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Can't wait to see you and Larry fed in there.
- 16:45Speaker 3: It's gonna be great.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Taylor.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Do you realize what you're doing to the relationship you
- 16:49Speaker 2: have with your girlfriend if you invite Larry Fedora instead
- 16:53Speaker 2: of her? What I mean, I'm proud of you, let's
- 16:56Speaker 2: start there. I'm proud of you, but I also care
- 16:58Speaker 2: about you.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Man.
- 17:00Speaker 4: First get him on the shop, then invite him to
- 17:03Speaker 4: the wedding.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes, And what makes you think you're invited
- 17:06Speaker 2: to the wedding.
- 17:07Speaker 5: I mean, well that's what I was. That's why I
- 17:09Speaker 5: was kind of dangling the carrot in front of him.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Trojan Horse made with Larry Fedora is really well.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Executed, and it's Fedor in a bathing suit.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't even know what he looks like in
- 17:30Speaker 3: a baby's Oh he knows. I mean got abs for
- 17:33Speaker 3: days for wow. All right, Larry, Larry Fedora and Coach
- 17:39Speaker 3: O having basically like on stage like at the bodybuilding competitions,
- 17:44Speaker 3: the two of them just dripping an oil flexing up
- 17:47Speaker 3: on stage there.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Yes, can you guys imagine this wedding if it were
- 17:54Speaker 2: by a pool in bathing suits? I mean, who's who
- 17:57Speaker 2: is going to show up to Michaelden Junior's wedding?
- 18:00Speaker 1: I mean seriously, it could be Marcus Freeman could be there.
- 18:03Speaker 1: No man, Titeo could be there.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Boy, Marcus Freeman, you want to talk about a good
- 18:08Speaker 3: chance to be get left at the altar A five
- 18:10Speaker 3: like that guy?
- 18:11Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, the dangerous game.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Inviting Marcus Freeman to your wedding is a very dangerous
- 18:15Speaker 2: game at a shirtless wedding which he only has to
- 18:17Speaker 2: wear a bathing suit.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Oh my god, amazing.
- 18:21Speaker 3: By the way, speaking of Marcus Freeman, I know we're
- 18:23Speaker 3: going to talk about the Lane Kiffin thing at some point.
- 18:25Speaker 3: It's not lost on me that this offseason Marcus Freeman
- 18:29Speaker 3: does the Esquire photo shoot, and the biggest thing to
- 18:32Speaker 3: come out of that is everyone's like, oh man, the
- 18:33Speaker 3: players are going to give him so much grief and
- 18:36Speaker 3: fall camp at these meetings because he's got these attractive
- 18:39Speaker 3: snl like photos that he took for this magazine. And
- 18:42Speaker 3: then Lane Kiffin does the Vanity Fair piece and all
- 18:44Speaker 3: hell breaks loose. We got Southern states and fan bases
- 18:47Speaker 3: fighting with each other like it is a very different
- 18:50Speaker 3: tone and tenor for these articles that I thought we're
- 18:52Speaker 3: just like tough pieces where you took cute pictures, and
- 18:55Speaker 3: apparently I was very wrong.
- 18:56Speaker 2: You're funny, Mikey C getting the invite? What do you think,
- 18:59Speaker 2: Mikey Mikey S getting an invite? Little smoke break during
- 19:02Speaker 2: the wedding.
- 19:02Speaker 6: I will say he should get it over me. Yeah,
- 19:05Speaker 6: I mean, he's brought you far more joy than I
- 19:07Speaker 6: ever could.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Can you imagine trotting, Mikey C. How to introduce your
- 19:12Speaker 1: wife to do your wife? Oh my God, you leave you.
- 19:16Speaker 4: No.
- 19:17Speaker 3: See, Mikey C wouldn't be allowed inside the wedding. We
- 19:20Speaker 3: would set up a dumpster on the way in and
- 19:23Speaker 3: he would have to pick off and here if you
- 19:25Speaker 3: the famous guest there and do the smoke breaks. The
- 19:28Speaker 3: problem is he'd be nervous and he wouldn't do half
- 19:31Speaker 3: of them unless we had one of you guys out
- 19:33Speaker 3: there ushering the guests over to him and forcing their hands.
- 19:36Speaker 3: So it's gonna take a village, but I think we
- 19:38Speaker 3: can make it happen.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Oh, I love this.
- 19:40Speaker 5: Mikey C's plus one is just a cloud of smoke.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Yes, a pack of cigarettes?
- 19:45Speaker 4: Right?
- 19:48Speaker 2: How about how wen goes he getting the invite?
- 19:56Speaker 3: Gotta have hal in there. I'm trying to like he'd
- 19:59Speaker 3: be good too. I feel like we need to have
- 20:01Speaker 3: him organize the round of golf in the lead up
- 20:03Speaker 3: to this, because if we're doing it by a pool,
- 20:05Speaker 3: maybe like Palm Springs areas, so then you've got golf
- 20:08Speaker 3: out there, and I can count on how having all
- 20:11Speaker 3: the inns at the different golf courses out there. Considering
- 20:14Speaker 3: he's really, i mean really seems to be deep in
- 20:16Speaker 3: the golf lane now, so yes, I am I am
- 20:19Speaker 3: fully planning on leveraging that relationship for the best quality
- 20:23Speaker 3: rounds of golf in the lead up.
- 20:24Speaker 2: See what are the keys is to invite people that
- 20:26Speaker 2: you know are going to come to the wedding, yes,
- 20:29Speaker 2: force them to say no, and force them to give
- 20:32Speaker 2: that bigger check you were talking about earlier. I did
- 20:34Speaker 2: this with Lebtard. I invited him to my daughter's Bob Mitzvah.
- 20:37Speaker 2: I knew he wasn't coming, and I knew the gift
- 20:39Speaker 2: was It's a buyout essentially, is what it is. You're
- 20:42Speaker 2: buying yourself a way out of something you don't want
- 20:45Speaker 2: to attend, and you give more money. Levutar put my
- 20:47Speaker 2: kids through college. That's how badly he didn't want.
- 20:50Speaker 3: To go to there.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Bot Mitzvah.
- 20:52Speaker 3: I mean, so that's that's my plan. And then the
- 20:55Speaker 3: other thing I stumbled upon the other day because my
- 20:57Speaker 3: algorithm is starting to point in this direction. I saw
- 21:00Speaker 3: a video the other day that was a list of
- 21:02Speaker 3: the known brands where if you invite them to your wedding,
- 21:06Speaker 3: they'll send you gear and gift cards. And so I'm
- 21:10Speaker 3: starting to put together the list of brands that we
- 21:13Speaker 3: want to send out the invites to so that we
- 21:15Speaker 3: get the free ship.
- 21:16Speaker 2: It is fun going through the invite list, though, Like
- 21:18Speaker 2: you just write down a bunch of eights and then
- 21:20Speaker 2: you start cutting people out.
- 21:21Speaker 1: You know, it's great.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Tell listen, let's see that live on the air. Can
- 21:24Speaker 2: we help you cut the list out of the fifteen dude?
- 21:27Speaker 3: Honestly, we should make the tables live on the air. Two.
- 21:31Speaker 3: This is like cut down today. This would be fun
- 21:33Speaker 3: for me to be on the other side, because usually
- 21:34Speaker 3: I was the one getting cut. Now we can all
- 21:37Speaker 3: sit here and be like the tribunal council and decide
- 21:40Speaker 3: who we're going to cut, and then be chaos agents
- 21:43Speaker 3: and figure out how we're going to situate these tables
- 21:45Speaker 3: for maximum drama hard knock skulic wedding.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Yes right, yes, listen. If you're in worried, I mean
- 21:55Speaker 2: we are onto something here. There is a good at
- 21:57Speaker 2: each table sponsored by the way right Table two sponsor.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Yeah, there's not even table numbers, it's just your sponsor.
- 22:07Speaker 4: I'm over a bear.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Yes, he's gonna have a beer sponsor, a liquor sponsor.
- 22:11Speaker 1: He's gonna have all.
- 22:12Speaker 4: This is amazing.
- 22:13Speaker 1: I can help you with that.
- 22:14Speaker 3: By the way, I said. That's why I'm telling you
- 22:17Speaker 3: because I know you're gonna be the one to help
- 22:19Speaker 3: pull in all these deals.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Yes, I'm on it, Consider me on it, and I'm there.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I don't know when you're having it, but I am there.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Let's transition here. There's no easy way to transition from
- 22:28Speaker 2: the wedding to racism.
- 22:33Speaker 4: Depends on the tables.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I should be laughing, yes, but Lane Kiffin doing what Listen,
- 22:38Speaker 2: No one could be surprised that Lane Kiffin left Mississippi,
- 22:42Speaker 2: took the job at LSU, forfeited his chance to become
- 22:46Speaker 2: a coach of a national championship team or a team
- 22:49Speaker 2: that went deep into the playoffs, and then when he
- 22:52Speaker 2: gets to LSU starts taking unnecessary shots at old miss.
- 22:57Speaker 2: This is what Lane Kiffin does, Mike, whether you like
- 22:59Speaker 2: it or not, this is what Lan Giffen does once
- 23:01Speaker 2: he gets once he arrives at your school, he starts
- 23:04Speaker 2: tearing down his former school.
- 23:05Speaker 1: It's what he does it.
- 23:07Speaker 3: First off, what a great piece overall, But you're right,
- 23:12Speaker 3: this is the scorpion in the frog story.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:14Speaker 3: You can't act surprise when this is the case. And
- 23:18Speaker 3: I think, and when you read this article, I remember
- 23:20Speaker 3: when Lane originally left. There were a lot of the
- 23:24Speaker 3: people around Ole Miss that I think the reason they
- 23:28Speaker 3: felt so different and they felt so offended by this
- 23:31Speaker 3: is because they had been convinced through his time in
- 23:34Speaker 3: Oxford that he was different, that this had truly been
- 23:37Speaker 3: a rehabilitative process for Lane. He talked about, you know,
- 23:41Speaker 3: his sobriety, all the things that he had changed, how
- 23:44Speaker 3: he needed Oxford more than Oxford needed him, and it
- 23:47Speaker 3: seemed like so many people thought that also meant that
- 23:50Speaker 3: they were immune to him leaving for something better. And
- 23:53Speaker 3: in this case, they're one of their most hated, if
- 23:56Speaker 3: not their most hated rival, and so I think that
- 23:59Speaker 3: was the issue. But forever everyone else who now has
- 24:01Speaker 3: seen this pattern again and in this way, I don't
- 24:03Speaker 3: think there'll be anyone whoever buys into the idea that
- 24:06Speaker 3: it's going to be somehow different going forward. And in
- 24:09Speaker 3: this case, again I'm not even saying I blame Lane
- 24:12Speaker 3: Kiffin for taking the opportunity at a place like LSU
- 24:16Speaker 3: that is so rich in all the things that modern
- 24:19Speaker 3: college football coaches covin and because it's his prerogative to
- 24:22Speaker 3: take any job the same way now it is for
- 24:25Speaker 3: a player to go to any school that they want
- 24:27Speaker 3: to hear. But I can also look and understand from
- 24:30Speaker 3: the Old Miss fan side and completely get why, Hey,
- 24:33Speaker 3: maybe they thought it was different this time, even though
- 24:36Speaker 3: when you zoom out, this does fit into the larger pattern.
- 24:39Speaker 5: So stud The quote from the article that has all
- 24:42Speaker 5: Miss fans upset Lane Kiffin told Vanity Fair. When he
- 24:48Speaker 5: was coaching there, Kiffin says top recruits would tell him, hey, coach,
- 24:51Speaker 5: we really like you, but my grandparents aren't letting me
- 24:53Speaker 5: move to Oxford, Mississippi. That doesn't come up when you
- 24:56Speaker 5: say baton rouge. Louisiana. Parents were sitting here this weekend
- 25:00Speaker 5: saying the campuses diversity feels so great. It feels like
- 25:04Speaker 5: they're no segregation. That was the quote from the article.
- 25:07Speaker 5: And now it's coming out that lane Kiffin reportedly left
- 25:10Speaker 5: Old Miss because families were just overall uncomfortable with Oxford's
- 25:14Speaker 5: racial history lack of a diversity. He took issue with
- 25:17Speaker 5: symbols like the Confederate flag, the Colonel Rebel, and the
- 25:22Speaker 5: nickname Old Miss itself. What it feels like to me
- 25:27Speaker 5: is this is right message, wrong messenger.
- 25:32Speaker 2: I don't know if it's the right message it's certainly
- 25:34Speaker 2: not the right messenger. I can tell you that did
- 25:37Speaker 2: Lane talk about any of this stuff when he was
- 25:39Speaker 2: coaching at Old Miss?
- 25:40Speaker 1: Any of it? Do we know?
- 25:43Speaker 4: Oh?
- 25:44Speaker 3: No, I know because and I think the reason I
- 25:47Speaker 3: tend to side with Taylor because I have seen and
- 25:51Speaker 3: heard from plenty of people who are closer to Old Miss,
- 25:54Speaker 3: closer to the history of the South, that have certainly
- 25:58Speaker 3: brought up the past of Ole Miss, the things that's
- 26:01Speaker 3: associated with and for people of color, how tough and
- 26:05Speaker 3: problematic that's been a time. So I'm not going to
- 26:08Speaker 3: discount the reality of any of that situation, especially one
- 26:11Speaker 3: that I'm unfamiliar with. But to Taylor's point, in this setting,
- 26:15Speaker 3: from this person, this does not feel like it's being
- 26:19Speaker 3: brought up in a way that is genuine and empathizes
- 26:24Speaker 3: with that plight, because it feels like it's part of
- 26:28Speaker 3: a recruiting pitch in a way that I think makes
- 26:30Speaker 3: a lot of people kind of pull back, And.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Bristle doesn't everything with Lane Kiffin, it's hard to believe
- 26:35Speaker 2: right Ron Messenger is probably the right way to go there,
- 26:37Speaker 2: Lank It's hard to believe that anything is genuine or
- 26:40Speaker 2: sincere because He's always a used car salesman.
- 26:42Speaker 1: That's what he is.
- 26:43Speaker 2: I mean, essentially, Mike, he's a high paid used car salesman.
- 26:46Speaker 2: What's off putting about this is he was talking about
- 26:49Speaker 2: how difficult the decision was.
- 26:51Speaker 1: If all those things are the.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Case right about old miss and I happen to agree
- 26:57Speaker 2: with many of the things he said, But then why
- 27:00Speaker 2: was it such a difficult decision for laying in his
- 27:02Speaker 2: family to leave Oxford, Mississippi and go to LSU. It
- 27:06Speaker 2: shouldn't be that difficult if indeed all that stuff was
- 27:09Speaker 2: going through his head, And if indeed it was problematic
- 27:12Speaker 2: recruiting kids because their grandparents and their parents didn't want
- 27:15Speaker 2: them in Oxford, Mississippi, why do you leave?
- 27:17Speaker 1: Why do he make such a big deal.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Why is it so difficult for him to leave Oxford
- 27:21Speaker 2: if it did that was the case, Mike, Well, yeah.
- 27:24Speaker 3: And I think that's what this article kind of does
- 27:27Speaker 3: a good job of hammering home is. You know a
- 27:30Speaker 3: lot of people have had the chance to interact and
- 27:33Speaker 3: be around Lane Kiffen. When you cover college football, I've had,
- 27:35Speaker 3: you know, limited opportunities, and there's been nothing wrong with
- 27:39Speaker 3: the interactions. Paul Feinbaum kind of summed it up, though,
- 27:41Speaker 3: he's like you're never quite sure exactly what you're getting
- 27:45Speaker 3: or where it's coming from. He's a tremendously difficult person
- 27:48Speaker 3: to read, and he's someone who, to your point, we've
- 27:52Speaker 3: known so much publicly and everyone's seen so much about
- 27:55Speaker 3: him for such a long time because he got into
- 27:59Speaker 3: the spotlight such a young age. He was the youngest
- 28:01Speaker 3: NFL coach ever at one point when he was hired
- 28:03Speaker 3: by the Raiders, and so we've seen everything that's publicly
- 28:07Speaker 3: happened with Lane, all the missteps on Front Street, and
- 28:10Speaker 3: so even at this point now you're never quite sure
- 28:14Speaker 3: because you've seen and enjoyed some parts of it. There
- 28:17Speaker 3: are like some parts of the you know, prodding and
- 28:20Speaker 3: online trolling and things that you look at and in
- 28:22Speaker 3: a vacuum go, well, this is fun for college football
- 28:25Speaker 3: to have an agent like this, someone who is coming
- 28:28Speaker 3: in and kind of making fun of the establishment and
- 28:30Speaker 3: ruffling some feathers, because this is a sport that thrives
- 28:33Speaker 3: on characters. And then there's some times where that goes awry,
- 28:36Speaker 3: and so it makes it kind of difficult to reconcile
- 28:39Speaker 3: all these things that you've seen at once Stull.
- 28:41Speaker 5: My favorite quote was from the Vanity Fairs Chris Smith,
- 28:46Speaker 5: the author of this anti Mississippi feature. He said, after
- 28:51Speaker 5: four hours of talking with Kiffen, I'm stumped. Is he
- 28:55Speaker 5: endearingly sincere or so full of shit that it's an
- 28:58Speaker 5: art form the ladder?
- 29:01Speaker 1: I mean.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Multiple choice, Mike, those are your two options, your bait?
- 29:08Speaker 2: Which one you're going with?
- 29:09Speaker 1: I mean it's bullshitter, man.
- 29:12Speaker 3: I mean, well, like to your points, Ducts, like every
- 29:17Speaker 3: college football coach to some point is a salesman, right,
- 29:21Speaker 3: Like that's kind of an innate part of the job.
- 29:24Speaker 3: But you know, there are just things like this that again,
- 29:29Speaker 3: like I've seen since this came out, I've seen videos
- 29:32Speaker 3: of former players talking about their experiences like this on
- 29:36Speaker 3: old Missus campus, whether it's guys that played there, people
- 29:38Speaker 3: that came there from other schools that played there.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Yes, Mike, Mike, I'm certain it's happened. I'm not saying
- 29:43Speaker 2: that Lane Kivin is lying. It's just a convenient time
- 29:46Speaker 2: for Lane Kivin to start bringing it up.
- 29:47Speaker 3: That's the all correct And that's what makes this feel strange.
- 29:50Speaker 3: No matter what angle you come from, and this is like,
- 29:53Speaker 3: this is probably not the person or the setting with
- 29:58Speaker 3: which having this componversation is going to do the good
- 30:02Speaker 3: that it could.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Right, it's using race as part of your sales pitch.
- 30:05Speaker 2: We all know it's a sales pitch.
- 30:06Speaker 1: In part. It's a sales pitch, all right.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Some of it might be genuine, might be sincere, but
- 30:10Speaker 2: you're bringing that into your actual pitch, and that's off
- 30:13Speaker 2: putting to a lot of people.
- 30:13Speaker 1: It's going to be off putting to a lot of people,
- 30:15Speaker 1: and it should be.
- 30:17Speaker 5: Gojo the bigger thing from this story. I think September nineteenth, LSU,
- 30:26Speaker 5: I don't even know what I'm expecting for that weekend.
- 30:28Speaker 5: It's hard to even comprehend what that game is going
- 30:30Speaker 5: to be.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Like, well, I know is just put the kids to bed,
- 30:32Speaker 1: that's it.
- 30:33Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, you remember what it was like
- 30:36Speaker 3: when he went back to Tennessee when he was at
- 30:38Speaker 3: Ole miss yep, Like they had to stop that game.
- 30:41Speaker 3: That was the one where it was the fake mustard
- 30:44Speaker 3: bottle flask got thrown onto the field along with golf
- 30:48Speaker 3: balls and a host of other shit. But it is
- 30:51Speaker 3: going to be and I was looking the rest of
- 30:54Speaker 3: the college football slate is pretty lackluster like provided these
- 30:59Speaker 3: teams are forming the way that they should be. Got
- 31:02Speaker 3: to imagine the college game day crew is there. Got
- 31:05Speaker 3: to imagine this is the big draw of the weekend
- 31:08Speaker 3: and that atmosphere is going to be unrivaled to I really,
- 31:13Speaker 3: I don't know what to expect, but I expect a lot.
- 31:16Speaker 1: It's interesting. Did the writer ask Lane if it was
- 31:19Speaker 1: so bad there?
- 31:19Speaker 2: Why didn't he do anything about it when he had
- 31:21Speaker 2: the biggest position at the school? Did the writer ask
- 31:23Speaker 2: Lane if it was so bad there? Why he stay
- 31:25Speaker 2: there so long? Did the writer ask? Did the writer
- 31:27Speaker 2: ask anything? Did he did he ask Lane anything? Or
- 31:31Speaker 2: you just let Lane say whatever it is Lane wanted
- 31:34Speaker 2: to say, without any kind of follow up?
- 31:35Speaker 1: Whatsoever?
- 31:36Speaker 2: Well, Lane, if it's that bad there, then why was
- 31:38Speaker 2: it so difficult for you and your family to leave there?
- 31:42Speaker 4: No?
- 31:43Speaker 3: Okay, I appreciate journalist critics Stu Gott's work.
- 31:49Speaker 2: I mean, I listen, I should be proud of this guy.
- 31:51Speaker 2: And I don't know what I'm doing here, but there.
- 31:53Speaker 2: I mean, what he said it begged for follow ups
- 31:57Speaker 2: and Lane didn't get any.
- 31:58Speaker 5: I mean, just to be clear, are you asking us
- 32:01Speaker 5: what the article said just because you didn't read.
- 32:03Speaker 2: It, of course. I mean, what do you think I'm
- 32:05Speaker 2: asking you? You think I'm gonna fucking read that thing?
- 32:07Speaker 2: Get out of here? I mean, Vanity Fair?
- 32:10Speaker 1: Where do I get it?
- 32:11Speaker 3: I got I got lucky. I opened it up on
- 32:13Speaker 3: my last free read for Vanity Fair and went back
- 32:16Speaker 3: to check something and got Paywalden. I was like, a man, Well,
- 32:19Speaker 3: I just I'll do my best to remember it.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Yes, No, Taylor, I was asking those questions. I wasn't
- 32:24Speaker 2: judging the writer. I was actually asking those questions in
- 32:27Speaker 2: the hopes that you had read it, of course, which you.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Did it.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Old Lane, It's just like, it's it's Lane being Lane, right,
- 32:39Speaker 2: can we chalk it up to that? Just yes, it's
- 32:41Speaker 2: Lane being They're all used car salesman. Lane takes it
- 32:44Speaker 2: to you know, he takes it out to the extreme.
- 32:49Speaker 2: And I'm not saying that's what make Lane, makes Lane
- 32:51Speaker 2: Kivin great, but he will stop at nothing to get
- 32:54Speaker 2: to land a prize recruit quarterback. And he just proved
- 32:57Speaker 2: it here. And so that's, uh, that's what most of
- 32:59Speaker 2: these guys.
- 33:00Speaker 5: But I'm with Gojo in the sense that college football
- 33:04Speaker 5: is better because it has these characters like Lane Kiffin, Gojo,
- 33:09Speaker 5: I found a quote from Paul Finebaum that I think
- 33:11Speaker 5: you are referencing. His quote is from fine Bomb. I
- 33:14Speaker 5: first met him in two thousand and nine, and I
- 33:16Speaker 5: can't decide either. Lane Kiffin is an introvert and he's
- 33:20Speaker 5: a drama queen. He's sincere, and he doesn't get enough
- 33:23Speaker 5: credit for his acting ability. What it's what makes him fascinating,
- 33:27Speaker 5: and it's what makes him the most polarizing code in
- 33:30Speaker 5: all of college football.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, yep, yeah, wow, Yeah.
- 33:36Speaker 3: It's he, you know what. Honestly, Lane Kiffen is sort.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Of the.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Perfect embodiment of where we are at, like culturally in
- 33:46Speaker 3: twenty twenty six. He is a master of keeping your attention,
- 33:49Speaker 3: Like all of this is just the attention economy, and
- 33:53Speaker 3: Lane make sure that at critical moments you will be
- 33:56Speaker 3: paying attention to whatever he is doing.
- 33:59Speaker 4: Right.
- 34:00Speaker 2: You think the people at all Miss are hop set
- 34:02Speaker 2: with Lane kivid Like he could never go back there again, Right,
- 34:05Speaker 2: he cannot.
- 34:05Speaker 1: There's no way he was beloved there.
- 34:07Speaker 3: He's going to September nineteenth and without to be insane.
- 34:10Speaker 1: He can't just walk them around by himself anymore though, right.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Oh no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 34:15Speaker 2: No no, not that he was planning on doing it,
- 34:18Speaker 2: but if he just wanted to take a stroll through campus,
- 34:19Speaker 2: he can't.
- 34:20Speaker 1: He can no longer do that, right.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Nolex Stutts. I'll put it to you like this. There
- 34:23Speaker 3: was a Brian Kelly went on a podcast recently and
- 34:27Speaker 3: was talking about how he's got this year off where
- 34:29Speaker 3: he's not coaching, and he said he wants to go
- 34:31Speaker 3: out and visit with a lot of his former assistants,
- 34:33Speaker 3: catch up with them, try and learn some things. And
- 34:36Speaker 3: he mentioned he's like, I want to know, go and
- 34:37Speaker 3: visit with Marcus Freeman, who he brought to Notre Name
- 34:40Speaker 3: as his defensive coordinator. Mike Denbrock. The OC was, you know,
- 34:43Speaker 3: in Brian's wedding, and so he's like, I want to,
- 34:45Speaker 3: you know, go back out there to South End and
- 34:48Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, I mean, I see no reason
- 34:50Speaker 3: why he wouldn't be welcomed back in. He knows all
- 34:53Speaker 3: those guys will. The dismount for Brian wasn't I think
- 34:57Speaker 3: the most enjoyable for a lot of Notre Dame fans.
- 35:00Speaker 3: I don't think now, considering where the program sits, there's
- 35:03Speaker 3: gonna be a lot of venom there from anybody. This
- 35:05Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin situation is the total opposite. A. The wound
- 35:09Speaker 3: is incredibly fresh and B. It's also just a completely
- 35:13Speaker 3: different tenor to this with everything that we've just mentioned
- 35:16Speaker 3: involved Gojo.
- 35:17Speaker 5: You're based in Los Angeles, and we need a Lakers
- 35:20Speaker 5: corresponding with the Lakers getting swept ear to the street,
- 35:23Speaker 5: what are the people saying about this Lakers team?
- 35:28Speaker 4: Boots on the ground, right.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Boots on the ground from someone who could not live
- 35:34Speaker 3: further from downtown by the Staples Center, Crypto, whatever the
- 35:37Speaker 3: hell they call it now, Boots on the ground. People
- 35:40Speaker 3: are preparing for their weekly visit to whatever Farmers Market
- 35:43Speaker 3: is in their neighborhood. Most of them are still ready
- 35:46Speaker 3: to complain about traffic at any moment in time. They're
- 35:49Speaker 3: planning a beach trip this weekend. There's talks of several
- 35:52Speaker 3: brunches happening in the West Hollywood area. So business as
- 35:56Speaker 3: usual out here in Los Angeles as far as I've seen.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Just because in LA you have to have him as
- 36:01Speaker 2: our Laker correspondent.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I mean, how many Laker games have you been to?
- 36:04Speaker 1: GoJ two? Okay, okay, done this year? That's two more
- 36:10Speaker 1: than us.
- 36:10Speaker 3: I mean I heard the get in price was like
- 36:12Speaker 3: fifty bucks last night. I could have gone pissed. I
- 36:15Speaker 3: don't want to drive all the way over there. Yeah,
- 36:17Speaker 3: so far right?
- 36:18Speaker 5: Gojo you you had such a great take that I
- 36:20Speaker 5: saw on Twitter. When it comes to this thunders Laker series,
- 36:24Speaker 5: specifically when it comes through the Thunder, I would rather
- 36:28Speaker 5: get dunked on forty million times than lose to the
- 36:31Speaker 5: Isaiah Hartenstein lit little floater that he does.
- 36:36Speaker 3: Dude, Yes, it's and it's it's so well crafted, and
- 36:40Speaker 3: he's so good at it now. And that's even worse.
- 36:43Speaker 3: Like I could understand, like you know, like Rudy Gobert
- 36:46Speaker 3: not the most offensively inclined big man, so when he
- 36:48Speaker 3: puts up a shot, you're like whatever. But the fact
- 36:50Speaker 3: that that little shot put has now become a lethal
- 36:53Speaker 3: weapon that Isaiah Hartenstein uses, I would be furious. It
- 36:58Speaker 3: is so demeaning and descending as a shot.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Yes, Micha, are we're getting carried away as Nick fans.
- 37:04Speaker 2: When I say I want Oklahoma City, I'm not going
- 37:06Speaker 2: to be satisfied unless we play Oklahoma City and beat
- 37:09Speaker 2: Oklahoma City in the NBA Finals.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Terrible idea. What are you doing?
- 37:12Speaker 1: I no, so.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Listen, I'll put it to you like this.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we know.
- 37:20Speaker 3: I famously lost to Alabama on that twenty twelfth title game. Yeah,
- 37:23Speaker 3: and there was you know, Alabama was coming off a
- 37:25Speaker 3: national championship. It was their first back to back in
- 37:27Speaker 3: the Saban dynasty. And you always hear that be the best,
- 37:30Speaker 3: you want to beat the best. I wanted no part
- 37:33Speaker 3: of them, Like I remember so vividly the night we
- 37:35Speaker 3: were number three, and I think it was like Stanford
- 37:38Speaker 3: or Oregon was two, and then Kansas State was number
- 37:40Speaker 3: one at that point and both of them lost and
- 37:42Speaker 3: we bumped up to number one, and I remember sitting
- 37:44Speaker 3: there going, well, Alabama's number two now, And I much
- 37:47Speaker 3: rather would have played the Kansas State team in the
- 37:51Speaker 3: national title and been polishing my big ring and had
- 37:54Speaker 3: everyone arguing about hypotheticals if that Bama team would have
- 37:57Speaker 3: even made it to the BCS. So no, that stuff
- 38:00Speaker 3: is nonsense. You want the trophy however it comes. If
- 38:03Speaker 3: you have to beat them, great, But if you happen
- 38:06Speaker 3: to get the Spurs or somebody else who at least
- 38:09Speaker 3: is looks like less of a death star than the
- 38:12Speaker 3: defending champions. You take it, run with it. I'm surprised you,
- 38:16Speaker 3: of all people, is opting for this. Two guys.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I don't know what I'm doing here. I mean Kojo.
- 38:20Speaker 5: His argument was that in five years people would look
- 38:22Speaker 5: back at the title and be like, well, you guys
- 38:24Speaker 5: beat the Timberwolves to win the title. You guys beat
- 38:27Speaker 5: the Spurs. I don't care who we have to beat
- 38:29Speaker 5: to win a title.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm not someone I'm the guy who does that, right,
- 38:33Speaker 2: So I'm afraid someone's gonna do it to me. Right,
- 38:35Speaker 2: you didn't do it against the best team of the NBA.
- 38:37Speaker 2: He did it against the t Wolves.
- 38:38Speaker 3: I mean, I will say people are already now, in
- 38:41Speaker 3: the wake of all the Jalen Brown stuff with the Celtics,
- 38:43Speaker 3: they're already going back and reminding everybody that the Celtics
- 38:46Speaker 3: had that cupcake road through the Eastern Conference to their
- 38:49Speaker 3: title when those guys did win it. So you're not
- 38:51Speaker 3: wrong in that people, Because I'm usually one that argues
- 38:54Speaker 3: sands the time wants enough passes. We just look at
- 38:57Speaker 3: the banner, we look at the wead Wikipedia entry. No
- 38:59Speaker 3: one remembers the context of that moment. But in the
- 39:02Speaker 3: recency after some people can't do that. I'm with Taylor, though,
- 39:05Speaker 3: I don't give a shit. Check out my nice raining,
- 39:08Speaker 3: Look at my fun replica trophy. Look at that banner.
- 39:10Speaker 3: That's pretty sweet. I don't give a damn.
- 39:12Speaker 1: It's Bill Simmons. That's who I'm worried about. But we
- 39:19Speaker 1: love Bill
