- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Dutch with Fexingo, episode two hundred and five. Luna: Hey Lucas, happy to be here. And if Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Dutch, you're in the right place. Lucas: Exactly. Today we're going to keep it very practical, because last time we talked about the wrist and the ankle. Luna: Oh right, that was a good one. We said pols and enkel. Lucas: Yes. And we practiced saying 'Mijn pols doet pijn' and 'Mijn enkel doet pijn'. Luna: Mijn pols doet pijn. Mijn enkel doet pijn. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's add a little more. What if you actually hurt your ankle? You might say 'Ik heb mijn enkel verzwikt'. Luna: Ik heb mijn enkel verzwikt. That means I sprained my ankle, right? Lucas: Exactly. Let's break it down. Ik heb, I have. Mijn enkel, my ankle. Verzwikt, sprained. So, Ik heb mijn enkel verzwikt. Luna: Ik heb mijn enkel verzwikt. It's a bit of a mouthful, but I think I got it. Lucas: You did. And don't worry, we'll practice it a few more times. Now, let's imagine a tiny scene. You're playing football, and you fall. Someone asks, 'Wat is er gebeurd?' Luna: Wat is er gebeurd? What happened? I'd say, 'Ik heb mijn enkel verzwikt.' Lucas: And if you hit your wrist, you could say, 'Mijn pols doet pijn.' Luna: Mijn pols doet pijn. So that's my wrist hurts. And mijn enkel doet pijn for my ankle hurts. Lucas: Right. Now, I want to bring up something real. You know, we make these episodes every week, and we love doing it. But a lot of people don't realize that this show is completely ad-free, and it's only possible because a small group of listeners chip in monthly at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, that's true. It's a way to keep the lights on without annoying ads. And it really helps us keep making these for you. Lucas: So, if you've been enjoying the show and want to support it, that's a simple way. No pressure, though. Luna: Now, back to our bodies. Let's practice those phrases again. Repeat after Lucas: de pols. Lucas: de pols. Luna: de pols. And de enkel. Lucas: de enkel. Luna: de enkel. Now, if I say 'Mijn pols doet pijn', what does that mean? Lucas: My wrist hurts. And 'Mijn enkel doet pijn'? Luna: My ankle hurts. Easy. Lucas: Now let's try a little role-play. I'm the doctor. You come in and say, 'Ik heb mijn enkel verzwikt.' Luna: Ik heb mijn enkel verzwikt. Lucas: And I say, 'Laat me even kijken. Doet dit pijn?' You can say, 'Ja, mijn enkel doet pijn.' Luna: Ja, mijn enkel doet pijn. Lucas: Perfect. So, to wrap up, we have de pols, de enkel, Mijn pols doet pijn, Mijn enkel doet pijn, and Ik heb mijn enkel verzwikt. Luna: Great review. I feel much more confident about these body parts now. Lucas: That's the goal. Keep practicing these until we chat again. And remember, if you want to support the show, the link is in the description. Luna: See you next time, everyone. Tot ziens!
