- 0:58And also joining us, a special, super special guest, a new maven to the podcast.
- 1:06So, several sassels could not be here today. However, comma,
- 1:10we have Afterlife Allie.
- 1:12He's here. Hello, Allie. Hi, Bill. Hi.
- 1:16Hi, Anne. Welcome, Allie.
- 1:19I'm a licensed funeral director, so from the morgue to the movies,
- 1:22I see dead people on and off the screen. Oh, my lord. All right.
- 1:27The real deal funeral directors. So we're going to have some sort of perspective
- 1:30on what a damn corpse would look like when it's getting brought to the morgue
- 1:34or onto the slab, as they say.
- 1:37Well, excellent. I'm happy that we're all here, and I'm happy that you're listening
- 1:40to us out in podcast land.
- 1:43We've got a real doozy here to bring to you.
- 1:46Episode two is Sleepaway Camp.
- 1:49It's a hell of a movie, and we're going to get into the nitty-gritty of it.
- 1:53What a movie. What a movie.
- 1:57What a experience. It was a movie. It was definitely a movie.
- 2:04But before we get into that, I want to hit something real quick and just kind
- 2:09of cue everybody into a little bit of what we do here at Horror Movie Maithens.
- 2:13It's a review podcast that most definitely contains spoilers.
- 2:19And it really kind of works out to be a play-by-play or a blow-by-blow,
- 2:22if it were, of the movie of the week.
- 2:25The horror movie genre in its entirety tends to have and contain adult themes
- 2:31and language and graphic images.
- 2:33So if you're someone out there who's a little squeamish or jives away from the
- 2:37gore, you know, be cautious. Caution you.
- 2:42Beware. Enjoy the horror movie mavens to enjoy it the best.
- 2:46You should probably have either watched the movie recently or watched the movie
- 2:51with us or watch it for the first time and then click us and enjoy.
- 2:58Enjoy the thing as it were, as we're recording.
- 3:01I think that's the best way to kind of get the most out of our little our little
- 3:06experiment here, which is, yeah, our movie made. So here we are.
- 3:11We're at Sleepaway Camp, the 1983 classic, the horror movie. It's a slasher.
- 3:19That's a classic. It's a classic.
- 3:23I consider it to be a classic in a lot of ways. It's an R-rated film.
- 3:28The tagline of the movie is, you won't be coming home.
- 3:34And the movie poster itself is sort of iconic. Basically, it's a camp area in
- 3:40the background and a shoe coming out of the water with a knife through it and
- 3:45the flood and the whole thing.
- 3:47What do you think of, Tom, what do you think of the tagline,
- 3:51you won't be coming home?
- 3:53Oh, you know already what you want.
- 3:56You wouldn't be coming. You won't be coming. Home. Home. Or anywhere else.
- 4:04Nowhere. Nowhere. Yeah. I think the movie poster is awesome.
- 4:08I think that, gotta be honest, the tagline kind of sucks on this film.
- 4:13You won't be coming home. I think the general theme of the movie is you'll get
- 4:18on the bus and you won't be coming home.
- 4:20Just a general, like, I don't know.
- 4:22I guess that's what that's what a tagline's supposed to be. Allie,
- 4:25what do you think about the tagline?
- 4:27Yeah, you assume everyone's going to die.
- 4:30And they kind of do. They kind of do. So I guess it's true to form.
- 4:35The runtime on this film is an hour and 24 minutes. So we're a little under
- 4:38the average time. I think an average movie is about an hour and 30 minutes.
- 4:42So we're a little bit under.
- 4:43It's filmed. I don't know where it's supposed to be based in,
- 4:47but it's filmed in Argyle, New York, in upstate New York.
- 4:50It was produced by American Eagle Films and United Film Distribution Company,
- 4:56the two unknown and defunct films, which surprises no one.
- 5:02This is kind of like a B-horror movie.
- 5:05It didn't really make anybody a ton of money, which actually isn't true,
- 5:10but we'll get to that in a second.
- 5:11It was written and directed by Robert Hilsake, who, as I looked him up on an
- 5:17internet movie database,
- 5:19did literally nothing but Sleepaway Camp 1, Sleepaway Camp 2,
- 5:24and had, I think, a writing credit on... There was a third one.
- 5:28Now. Nowhere else.
- 5:30Now. There was more... And I can tell you from experience that Sleepaway Camp 2 was so bad...
- 5:36In my humble opinion, it's not even worth watching.
- 5:40Are you sure you're not going to make us watch this next week?
- 5:43We might. You know what? I might try to inflict a little more pain on you and
- 5:47make you watch the sequel to this freaking thing.
- 5:51This movie was made as Robert Hilsig was a college student in school.
- 5:57And he actually took time off in his academic career to make this movie against
- 6:04the advice of his student advisors and his college professors.
- 6:09They said, don't do it. It's going to be a mistake.
- 6:12It's going to do nothing but ruin your ambitions and not have enough function to get the project.
- 6:19The movie budget, he got somehow, he got a movie company, American Eagle Films
- 6:24or United Films Distribution or whoever financed it, whoever's the financier,
- 6:29budgeted $350,000 to make this movie.
- 6:32Tom, guess how much movie this money made?
- 6:36$76.89. No, slightly more than that. Is that a real guess?
- 6:42No, if you want me to guess, honestly, what, $120,000?
- 6:47$120,000, okay. Allie, what do you think? What did this movie gross?
- 6:51Let's go $300,000. $300,000. This movie cost, the budget total, was $350,000.
- 6:59It made over $11 million.
- 7:02Get the F out of here. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why horror movies will always be made.
- 7:09Because they can be made for nothing, budgeted, and rake in a killing.
- 7:15At the end of the day. And then, but also, back in that day,
- 7:20I don't mean to cut you off, but back in that day, movies saved the theaters for a lot longer.
- 7:25Fair, and, but, there was also a massive VHS distribution and marketplace that
- 7:34people went out and bought this thing in Groves.
- 7:36And looking into some of that distribution end of it, because I think,
- 7:40when it was put out on VHS England, that their FCC or whoever does their version of censorship.
- 7:51Yeah, it's not FCC.
- 7:53I don't know who does the censorship, but regardless. BCC. Brills. Right. Right.
- 7:59Whatever Mickey Mouse Corporation that is, they took out 85 minutes of the movie or something crazy.
- 8:07They let 30 minutes air.
- 8:09I was about to say, that's the fucking entire movie
- 8:14yeah that's the entire thing so it was something that's like
- 8:17that i don't know the exact figure of the the time they cut
- 8:19out but it was the whole movie and so they had a lot of problems
- 8:22they had they had to kind of appeal to some of these deaths are so gruesome
- 8:27and graphic that it's like jeez i guess the english weren't feeling that like
- 8:31that weren't feeling that mess the death count the kill count on this movie
- 8:35is 13 total and i gotta be honest with you i watch this movie.
- 8:39Allie, watch this movie. You did too.
- 8:41I could only find 12 deaths.
- 8:44But that's the official count was 13. I don't know. I don't know whether it matters or not.
- 8:50It's starring Phyllisa Rose as Angela, as Ricky, the role of Ricky,
- 8:57her cousin, is Jonathan Tierston.
- 9:02And as the role of the nasty, mean girl, Judy, is Karen Field.
- 9:10The real age of Phyllisa Rose, the actress that played Angela,
- 9:14was 13 years old when she filmed this.
- 9:17That means that she was unable to go to the movie theater for the premiere of
- 9:22her own feature. It was pretty wild.
- 9:26The only other thing I have to say before we get into the notes on the movie
- 9:29and the play-by-play is, I think it stands to be said that because this movie
- 9:34was produced in 83, and...
- 9:40Friday the 13th was made, I think, in 1980, 81.
- 9:45The success of Friday the 13th, the original, Jason, spawned a bunch of these
- 9:52clone-type camping movies.
- 9:54And each one of them was sort of more ridiculous than the next.
- 9:59They kept getting more and more extravagant as time went on.
- 10:03Sleepaway Camp is one of these films, man. It's with a twist.
- 10:07There's not a masked killer.
- 10:10What a twist What a twist Yeah what's a twist It's almost like an M.
- 10:16Night Shyamalan I wonder if M.
- 10:18Night was out there Somewhere as a young man watching this thing
- 10:21You know what I'm going to make all my movies With some weird ass twist at the
- 10:24end of it Just to try and top Sleepaway Camp The classic that is Sleepaway Camp
- 10:29The absolute classic With that being said The film starts With a nice dedication It says,
- 10:39in fond memory of mom, a doer.
- 10:42And so I guess mom of the director, Mr.
- 10:47Hilsig, must have passed away at some point.
- 10:51And so this is in dedication with mom. Now, I don't know if his mom was some
- 10:54sort of ballistic person or would have been proud of this movie or not.
- 10:58But yeah, for mom, a doer is I kind of liked the beginning dedication.
- 11:04So that's nice. Shout out to moms out there.
- 11:06Yeah, shout out to the early, super, super duper early Mother's Day.
- 11:11This one's for you, Mom. A movie about something that is so outrageous.
- 11:14This one's for you. This one's for you.
- 11:17So we've got the intro song. And at first, when, you know, you've got an overhead
- 11:21view of camp, and it's kind of a fall scene, and you see the camp layout and everything.
- 11:26When I first saw this, I was thinking, you know, this camp looks freaking trashed.
- 11:31I have no idea why we're in this repair, this mad of repair.
- 11:35And I guess it came to me after the fact, after kind of watching the entire
- 11:39credit scene, opening credit scene.
- 11:42Yeah, this is the aftermath. this is
- 11:45the after it was all said and done because there's also a
- 11:48for sale sign there's a sheriff's notice on the front gate that
- 11:52gives us kind of a clue that camp arawak
- 11:55was for sale and this is like after results said and done so the movie beginning
- 12:01is kind of set in the end of the aftermath of this nightmare that takes place
- 12:07and it's kind of trashed so yeah the mr hilsig this movie,
- 12:14the person who directed and wrote this movie, he actually went to this camp.
- 12:18He was a young man, and he went out of his way to film this thing in his childhood
- 12:24campground, which is kind of neat. A little nugget.
- 12:28Also, the executive producer, as I'm seeing it here, roll on.
- 12:32I did take note that it seemed like the soundtrack doesn't really is not commensurate
- 12:38with what's going on here. It's like I was super sad and depressed. and dramatic.
- 12:46Opening score. And all it's doing is panning around various activity areas of the camp.
- 12:52So I guess it's trying to set a somber tone, but it definitely doesn't feel
- 12:57like it matches, but maybe... There's been some very choice music moments throughout
- 13:04this whole thing. I agree with that.
- 13:07Yeah, I agree with that. I'll leave it there.
- 13:10As far as the opening, actually the opening scene,
- 13:15we've got two twins with incredibly thick northern accents at a lakeside kind
- 13:23of, I don't know, swimming hole, a lake.
- 13:26Almost looks like it's across the way from the camp itself that we later on
- 13:31find our unfortunate campers at.
- 13:34They're at a sailboat with Dad, and Dad's just hanging out on the front of the
- 13:38sailboat. These look like twins of some sort. They're kind of teasing each other.
- 13:42The accents. Are these Northern accents, Allie? Is that where we're hearing them?
- 13:45I believe so. It kind of sounds like a New York accent. A little bit,
- 13:49but like New York, New York.
- 13:51Right, city. City, yeah. There's definitely something going on here with the
- 13:56accent. See, I'm going to interject.
- 13:58Go ahead. While watching the movie, I thought there was a mix of New England in there.
- 14:04Really? I agree with you. It's like, I can't tell. I think it's a mix of both.
- 14:10So I think you have, like, rich New York kids and, like, rich New Englander kids.
- 14:16And they're all getting involved in this camp. I'll go along with that.
- 14:21Because later on in the movie, you see the one kid, I don't remember his name,
- 14:25but he's wearing a Yankee shirt.
- 14:26So that's a big giveaway, like, where we are. But, I mean, he could be, you know, wherever.
- 14:34Yeah, for sure. And it does identify New York as, and you can see the plates.
- 14:39All the vehicles driving around are New York. So it's established that it is
- 14:43in New York. I believe so.
- 14:46And if it's not, definitely it's highly intimated just based on,
- 14:51I'm going to say, a lot of these Italian older counselor guys running around
- 14:55here all seem like somebody that I would see on any Brooklyn corner.
- 14:59This is literally taking place in the Catskills.
- 15:03I think so, man. I think so. We're going to go somewhere in the Catskills.
- 15:08Yeah, so we have super thick New York accents. The two young twins are kind of at each other.
- 15:13These are Steiner and Angela, and they're just having a nice summer afternoon
- 15:19with their dad on who we think is the dad on a sailboat. And then we've got some water skaters.
- 15:25Who are, they're trying to, I guess, manage a swap of a driver.
- 15:30She's kind of pestering the main guy, the driver guy, the boy,
- 15:34to try and get her to swap.
- 15:36He's a lifeguard. He's like, no way, man, you're going to ruin,
- 15:39you know, whatever kind of driver's license or whatever issue that there is there.
- 15:43But I will say that the skier seems genuinely petrified, whether that's acting or not.
- 15:51She seems like completely out of her mind, freaked out the entire time and I
- 15:55felt like that was something that had to be marked on because she was freaking
- 16:00loose and even before the accident, after the accident, it was a goddamn bunch of bugs.
- 16:05Angela and Peter tip the boat over onto bed as a prank and it results in a tragedy.
- 16:14So, wow! There is tragedy.
- 16:17The young girl is now driving the boat and we see a guy on the shore,
- 16:22just kind of calling out to him, hey, you know, we're going to be late,
- 16:25and it's a dude who's kind of just on shore.
- 16:29John, I guess it is John, isn't it?
- 16:32And the boat literally it's supposed to turn and it doesn't turn,
- 16:38and it flies directly over this group that's just kind of in the water.
- 16:45Yeah, the girl skiing is trying to warn them and, you gotta turn the boat!
- 16:49Oh, you turn the boat. they're like looking at each other comically like what
- 16:56did she say i don't know what to say and they just keep driving straight yeah
- 17:00so the book goes right over this group of people.
- 17:05And we don't know what the uh the outcome is for a large part of the film it's a weird kind of cgi I,
- 17:14when the boat goes over them, it's kind of an odd look.
- 17:20But I mean, if you really look really hard, it's all going to be a weird look.
- 17:24Let me see. You only see one kid left floating in the water.
- 17:29Right. Dad is floating and then a life jacket.
- 17:32Dad looks like he's KIA and there's no blood, which is very odd for a movie
- 17:36that is absolutely packed with blood.
- 17:38There's no blood in the water and it's just kind of a tore up life jacket.
- 17:43And, you know, then we just roll on to eight years later, which is kind of an
- 17:48odd move. But so we've transported.
- 17:51We don't know who died. we don't know what happened to these young kids and their dad.
- 17:55The moment of silence for dad and whoever got it, whoever else got it in this
- 17:59movie, we'll... Alright, guys.
- 18:01The moment of silence. The moment of silence. Please.
- 18:05Because God didn't. That was rough. We'll do this, too.
- 18:09You can't hear that, Tom, but I just played something. All right.
- 18:13So eight years later, we go to this weird colonial-looking house.
- 18:17And I say it's weird only because of the occupant that's inside of it.
- 18:20This really freaky-looking woman with a beret on who's got, like,
- 18:26these strange features.
- 18:27I cannot describe to you why she looks so strange to me. Maybe it's her costume.
- 18:32I don't know. I don't know what's going on here, but she's very unsettling.
- 18:36She's got a little note, a ribbon. Remember when we used to,
- 18:39in movies and in cartoons, we would see little ribbons tied on people's fingers
- 18:46to remind them of something? What happened to that?
- 18:49Well, now we have phones. Technology happened to that?
- 18:54Technology. I kind of think it's a little kitschy. I'm going to start doing
- 18:58it. I'm not going to write any notes to myself.
- 19:02I'm just going to have ribbons tied all over my hands.
- 19:06Let's see how well that works. Yeah, I'll probably be fired by next week,
- 19:09but... You'll have 5,000 ribbons on your hands. Right, exactly.
- 19:14It'll be up and down my arms all with like a clown. All right,
- 19:19so eight years later, we have Richard and Angela, who... They're with the aunt,
- 19:25they come down the stairs, and she's completely nuts. We can tell this immediately.
- 19:29The actor's playing, it is insane.
- 19:31She's got a red ribbon on her finger, like we've already established.
- 19:34And these two kids are going to camp. And really, the only thing that the kid,
- 19:38her actual child says, we established that her kid is the boy and his cousin is the girl.
- 19:45Angela is the girl. So we have already kind of established now that the flashback
- 19:50is one of the participants in the lake that must have, you know,
- 19:55survived the boating accident.
- 19:57And they're off to camp, right? They've got their camp gear on.
- 20:01She's bought them some supplies for camp. and all he can say is no chips,
- 20:05which I thought was kind of a cool quote. You know, that's exactly what I'm looking for to do.
- 20:10The main character, Angela, does not speak until 31 minutes into this movie. Wow. Uh-huh.
- 20:17It is not a long movie, and she doesn't say a goddamn thing until 31 minutes.
- 20:24She just stares for most of it. Yeah. Just looks.
- 20:28Just looks. And, you know, it's a creepy look.
- 20:32I know she's an innocent young lady, but someone's berating her.
- 20:39Like, you're a piece of shit.
- 20:40You don't mean nothing. Yeah.
- 20:42Yeah. It's nothing. Nothing there, though. It's a vacant stare.
- 20:46It's not like a malicious stare or a creepy stare. Or or or or is it?
- 20:51Or is it? Yeah, exactly. She's drinking it all in, certainly.
- 20:55And let me tell you something.
- 20:57A couple of times it creeps me the hell out. But yeah, I already went over it.
- 21:01She was 13 years old during the making of this movie.
- 21:04And really, all the campers are their age.
- 21:10We're in an age, these younger characters are really older actors.
- 21:16This movie is kind of a vigilante in many ways. But in a different way,
- 21:21it's a vigilante because it actually used people that young.
- 21:25And it kind of has that feeling of being awkward How you are when
- 21:28you're Kind of like a preteen To
- 21:31a teen How things are weird to you And life is just awkward And you know Life
- 21:39is not going the way you thought It was going to go But all of these people
- 21:44are that age Which is why the movie kind of gives off A certain authenticity to it Yeah so.
- 21:51Okay have you guys ever been to camp Allie have you ever been to sleepover camp
- 21:55Sleepaway camp I have not.
- 21:57I was a Girl Scout, and we stayed overnight at a camp, but I never went to an actual sleepaway camp.
- 22:04Okay. Tom? Wait, wait, wait. Repeat that. So you went overnight to a camp?
- 22:08Yeah, so I was a Girl Scout for the Brownies, and we just stayed one night at a camp.
- 22:15So just one overnight. Just one night. So that was my closest experience.
- 22:19So you slept. So you slept there.
- 22:22Right. It was just one night. It was one night. Okay. Yeah, it was just one night.
- 22:27Alright. I have... Oh, a sleep-away camp? Like, how long were you there?
- 22:32For a weekend. It was when I was in college.
- 22:35It was all the leaders of the fraternity, sorority organizations got shuttled off somewhere.
- 22:44I forget where it was. But yeah. No, I'd done it, and it was not fun. It's not fun.
- 22:52Not fun. So...
- 22:56Here we are. All these kids are piling off. You were a counselor,
- 22:59isn't that? Who, me? Yeah.
- 23:02No, no, I was there. Oh, you were just attending it at the camper.
- 23:07Yeah. Okay, cool. So all these campers are climbing off this bus here,
- 23:12and we are introduced to two other characters.
- 23:15Yeah, kids jumping off the bus. They're all happy to be here for the camp.
- 23:19We're looking at two individuals we're meeting, so for the first time,
- 23:22this is our head counselor.
- 23:24Oh geez what is his name uh
- 23:28ronnie ronnie head
- 23:31counselor head counselor ronnie with the booty shorts he's got his jack to the
- 23:36gills and he's got the the famous i guess late 70s early 80s going on and you've
- 23:43also got mel who is who turns out to be the owner of the camp high socks mel as I'm going to call him.
- 23:51He is a real shady looking character, in my opinion.
- 23:55Everybody's yawning at the kids. Orderly fashion. Everybody get out.
- 23:58And I guess as most camps would start, right? Everybody go, don't run,
- 24:02don't run, don't bump into each other. Orderly fashion. Go to your cabins.
- 24:06The rest of the kitchen staff is in the background. These are like a shady group of characters.
- 24:11And I guess we just straight up had a pedophile head cook enter the scene.
- 24:16I thought it was the first time I felt sick to my stomach in the movie. Yeah.
- 24:22My first thought was, I can't wait for him to die. Yeah.
- 24:26Definitely. Because he's a total creep. Yeah. And he's talking about how these
- 24:31kids are ripe for the picking and all this other stuff.
- 24:33These are like 10-year-olds and 13-year-olds.
- 24:36I believe he calls them baldies.
- 24:38That was so weird. Very cringy. Christ!
- 24:45Horrible just horrible and you
- 24:48know what what's even more horrible is that this
- 24:51shit actually happens oh these people exist oh for
- 24:54sure so enter paul and
- 24:57paul is a friend of ricky's from the last year or the last few years they've
- 25:02been to this camp and they're discussing how judy i guess our antagonist our
- 25:08primary antagonist amongst other people has developed quote unquote meaning she's looking good.
- 25:14I guess she's turned into a young lady instead of no longer having a figure of a young girl.
- 25:20I guess Meg is our head... I'm sorry.
- 25:24Meg and Suti are our head girl counselors, and everyone's basically just jogging
- 25:29to their respective areas.
- 25:31Ricky's kind of showing his cousin around. This is where we do this.
- 25:35This is where Ronnie Shack is. This is where the arch range is.
- 25:39And we get a look at old Judy, who kind of blows off Ricky in in a weird kind
- 25:45of I'm better than you way because you're talking to the older dudes.
- 25:47This is the first time where I kind of immediately started to get a problem with the movie.
- 25:53And my main problem is all of the characters have either a Y or an IE name.
- 25:58We got Ricky, we got Ronnie, we got Judy. There will be a Billy in the future.
- 26:04There's many other IE or Y names. Eddie is involved at some point.
- 26:08There's a lot of IE names.
- 26:09And it really messes me up as far as trying to keep track of who the hell everybody
- 26:14is. It's another Italian New Yorker thing. I guess so.
- 26:17Oh! Oh! Oh! What's your mouth? I'm Irish, but it's fine.
- 26:24They got a lot of I, E, and Y names, too. That's true. Yeah. So...
- 26:30This is the beginning of Angela's very odd staring issue of the movie.
- 26:38She looks like she's horrified every damn second of this movie all the way up
- 26:45to the end. We're meeting Meg.
- 26:48We're meeting Susie. And this is really where the odd blank staring expression
- 26:54begins and starts to unsettle her cabin mates.
- 27:01Yeah i don't know really there's not a whole lot left to say about it judy clearly
- 27:06is not a big fan of her and kind of like i don't know like i wouldn't be a fan
- 27:10of her either at this stage because she's literally just sitting on her bunk
- 27:15staring at this girl on top.
- 27:18Face expression i don't know what the hell's happening here but uh yes that's
- 27:24what's happening in the girl's cabin,
- 27:26We eventually flash to the pedo cook, who seems like he's going to molest young Angela just outright.
- 27:35It's not a lot of innuendo. He's just basically saying this is what's going
- 27:39to happen. Come back to the book. Oh, yeah.
- 27:41Oh, they're all pink. They're all pink on the inside.
- 27:44Like, what the fuck did he say? Like, what in the world?
- 27:48So our jacked head
- 27:51counselor ronnie hears from meg that this
- 27:55girl angela is just staring out in the outer space not eating and so she's kind
- 28:00of asking for some help from ronnie ronnie is clearly a good dude he's going
- 28:05to take her back specifically to give her me some special meal from the cook
- 28:09the pedo cook who maybe he doesn't
- 28:11understand he's a pedo but um he thinks he's doing what a good thing.
- 28:15He thinks he's doing a good thing. You know, he sends it right into a buzzsaw.
- 28:19I gotta admire Ronnie's junk. It is on full display.
- 28:24These thigh shorts, these are high up, man. Jesus.
- 28:28The shorts go higher as the movie goes on. Yeah, you're right.
- 28:32And it seems like he's getting buffered too.
- 28:34That's true. He's seen more buffs than the last and less clothes.
- 28:39He's wearing a cutoff shirt with a collar. It's incredible.
- 28:42The shit that they got away with Would you imagine me in those shorts?
- 28:46No, I don't imagine anyone in these shorts. I don't want to imagine running those shorts.
- 28:50But I have to see them. And there they are, packaged on full display.
- 28:55So, yeah. The pedo is going to walk this poor, unsuspecting girl into the pack.
- 29:01Because she's not very talkative and she still needs to eat.
- 29:04And so he leaves Angela in the capable hands so that he can take a phone call of the cook.
- 29:12And so we get full arm over the shoulder, belt unbuckling.
- 29:18Here comes the Vienna sausage
- 29:21It's awful And it doesn't
- 29:24happen Thank God Thank God
- 29:28Artie Who is the cook's name by the way Artie Trying
- 29:32to do some dirt I guess
- 29:35your buddy Ricky runs in To discover that
- 29:38there's a A scene taking place And before anything actually Takes place they
- 29:44all run out to eat And Artie is Boiled He punches some produce foxes or whatever
- 29:51in the walking closet because he got caught right-handed, right-handed.
- 29:56Really, really gross. Very uncomfortable vibes.
- 30:00I guess this is the first time you see Ricky...
- 30:04Being the hero to Angela. Guarding up, yeah.
- 30:08He's sticking up for her a lot in the movie, and this is probably the first time we see that.
- 30:14And Artie, grown man, shakes Ricky around in a threatening way,
- 30:18and Ricky gets involved.
- 30:20Thank God. Yeah. Thank God. Hey, what are you doing?
- 30:25I'm happy the movie didn't take that turn. I know. It takes so many other horrible turns.
- 30:31This is the one that we didn't want to see as well, though. Mel,
- 30:34I think he smells that there's something rotten in Denmark because they both
- 30:38got an exchange a strange glance.
- 30:40He's fixing his belt. Yeah.
- 30:42And he's like, yes, she must have been scared. Yeah.
- 30:46She must have been asking for it. She deserved it. So.
- 30:55Standard issue camping uniform. So there is a most gigantic pot that I've ever
- 31:02seen in my Yeah, I think we could all fit in that. Bill, Bill,
- 31:06I'm going to correct you right here.
- 31:07You've never been behind the kitchen in the Greek festivals.
- 31:11Oh, does it have that big of a pot?
- 31:14Those pots exist. Really?
- 31:17I was asking this when I was watching. This guy needs a step stool to get up
- 31:20there, and it is impressive.
- 31:22The amount of corn that he needs to throw in there in order to feed all these
- 31:27damn counselors, and I guess students or campers as well.
- 31:31So our Artie goes in And we see from a camera view A guest of our assailant
- 31:37Is running around the kitchen Trying to hide from Artie He's coming out of the walk-in.
- 31:44And Artie's going to get back on his rickety-ass chair And to do,
- 31:47I guess, pour some more salt Into the boiling, a massive boiling pot And here
- 31:52we go The beginning of the tragedy That is,
- 31:57How gross this kitchen is to you, by the way Yeah, it's all right Like completely It's really...
- 32:01Disgusting there's fly paper hanging down with
- 32:04all the dead flies on it it's just it sets a really
- 32:07gross scene yeah and this guy's got a uniform on his
- 32:10white uniform that looks like he hasn't been washed in 14 years and camp just
- 32:13started so you know he's not gonna he's this hygiene is not his top priority
- 32:18he gets pushed over top of the giant boiling pot and he's claiming hey you better
- 32:25cut it out or help me down or you psychopath or and we see someone It's you,
- 32:30What are you doing And you pull the chair
- 32:33away In order to get the fall over
- 32:36this boiling pot And it is successful And
- 32:40is it gruesome And it's a five minute long Scream We said the same exact things
- 32:49The longest screaming scene I have ever seen commences Wait hold on I reenacted I won't.
- 32:59For five minutes straight.
- 33:01And, I mean, his burn's too lucrative, man. They do a makeup job on this.
- 33:05Or Ben runs in to find him. Yeah, Ben, the helper on the kitchen,
- 33:10is like, runs in to find him, just absolutely destroyed by the boiling water.
- 33:18It's bubbling. You're watching the bubbles all as he's screaming.
- 33:21Horrible. It's like a pizza in an oven. It's disgusting. It is boiling.
- 33:26I love pizza. I do love pizza, and I'm going to have a harder time eating it
- 33:31now that I already got as burned as you do. Wait, I'm sorry.
- 33:35There was bubbling on the skin. Oh, the skin is bubbling like a pizza crust. I watched it.
- 33:41Yeah, I didn't watch it properly. It was whole saying to the day.
- 33:46I do need to mention that the hands that pull the chair away to facilitate Artie's
- 33:54injury, an OSHA recordable injury, no doubt.
- 33:58OSHA. OSHA. Yeah. OSHA. They are masculine-looking hands.
- 34:04This is clearly a boy's hand very cardiovascularly like they've got veins in
- 34:10them it's not a young girl's hand it looks like a young boy's hand.
- 34:16The paramedics that take him out, that have him all wrapped up these are not
- 34:20actors these are local EMS people that were just on the film set,
- 34:25they didn't have money to pay for actors so they just have these guys,
- 34:31you can see that The uniform that they're in, it says on the back of it,
- 34:37the firehouse that they belong to.
- 34:39It's like the Hudson Falls medical or paramedic team or something.
- 34:45It says Fort Edwards, Hudson Falls. And it's the hot mirror.
- 34:50Do they call 911, these guys?
- 34:54They must have. And there's a physician, for some reason, we don't really know
- 34:58why, but the guy with a stethoscope, so he must be a doctor.
- 35:02He's on scene and he's going to tell him he's basically destroyed every nerve
- 35:06ending on his body. And that's why he screamed five minutes straight.
- 35:10If you destroyed every nerve ending, you wouldn't feel any pain.
- 35:14Right. That's a fair point. It's going that you know that he's hurting,
- 35:19though, just based on what we saw, which is not stop yelling. I mean, yeah.
- 35:24The owner wants to cover this thing off. We're not interested in reporting this injury.
- 35:29Mel is out there. His name, the actor's name that plays Mel is Mike Kellan.
- 35:34He died just months after the filming. He never saw this film go to print.
- 35:38Yeah, this is the last John in the movies that we see.
- 35:42So I'm going to go ahead and give Mike Kellan a moment of silence as the actor
- 35:47because I kind of feel bad about that. Only because.
- 35:53He had a rich movie history too. Regardless.
- 35:57So yeah, Mel is going to confront our buddy Ben and the rest of the kitchen
- 36:03staff and offer them, I sort of guess a bribe? 50 more dollars a week.
- 36:09In adjusted dollars, we looked this thing up. In adjusted dollars,
- 36:11that's $142 extra in their paycheck. That's not bad, huh?
- 36:17They're all standing around going, yeah, that's not bad. The rest of the guys,
- 36:21they all get some other small stipend. It's like $25 a week.
- 36:25They all giggle and laugh about how they're not going to tell anybody.
- 36:29It'd be better if they were a union.
- 36:31Yeah, that's true. Then they'd have to report it. It'd
- 36:34be sort of a mechanism are reporting in dirty
- 36:38uh but you know
- 36:40162 bucks is sick money i guess and back back then yes but yeah 50 bucks an
- 36:48extra an additional a week is uh i guess all right the accident i mean in 1982
- 36:54money yeah 1982 money in today's money would be 162 bucks.
- 37:00The accident and cover-up is on. The first murder is a secret or murder.
- 37:04We don't know that he actually dies.
- 37:06I didn't count him in the body count since when he left, he was still amongst
- 37:09the living, and we never hear from him ever again. Thank God.
- 37:12He can go sit in his hospital bed and writhe in agony for all I care.
- 37:18Ben is a black man in the kitchen staff who, I guess, all of his help is also black.
- 37:24Is this racist undertones, do we think?
- 37:27Oh, yeah. You think so? Okay. Allie, are you too sensitive?
- 37:32Oh, no. Not at all. I just think, yeah, probably back then, and he was the number
- 37:37two, so... He's the number one now.
- 37:39Now he's the number one. He's the number one in my heart. All right, so...
- 37:43We're talking about the cafeteria, the kitchen guy, right? The kitchen staff, yeah.
- 37:48Ben, the number two. Oh, Mr. Ben.
- 37:52That was very like... Yes, sir.
- 37:56Yes, sir. Yeah, he played it very much like an old Kind of minstrel-esque,
- 38:01Feel, which probably was A thing at the time Regardless of whether it was a
- 38:06thing or not a thing I felt like maybe a little bit strange So it's fair to mention it,
- 38:11We go back to the boys cabin Where Ricky is performing a trip On a poor,
- 38:18Unsuspecting camper Named Mozart, who appears multiple times In the movie Mozart
- 38:23sits up really carefully into someone's bare ass.
- 38:27Inevitably contracting probably pink eyes, face slabs against his kid's bare ass.
- 38:32I don't remember playing tricks on my friends like this, but maybe,
- 38:36I guess. Are you sure, Bill? Because you did this on me.
- 38:40I didn't. Did I? I'm joking. No. Yeah, because I remember that.
- 38:47It was Sasso's, and he's not here. No, and he's startled somewhere, I'm sure of it.
- 38:55All right, so we got an all-Italian counselor crew, and they all wear cut-off
- 39:00shirts, and they all wear these shortest shorts I've ever witnessed on a human rear end. Shortest.
- 39:08Shortest. I don't know how people in the 80s wore these clothes.
- 39:14I know. And, I mean, the midriffs that these guys are wearing,
- 39:18they're altering these shirts so that their stomach is exposed.
- 39:22Yo, bro, you like my abs, bro? You like my abs, bro?
- 39:25Yeah, you like my hairy-ass abs? I just don't know how everything isn't falling out.
- 39:30Like, even as a female, if you're wearing shorts that short, people can see things.
- 39:35I don't know how... That's what we're going for.
- 39:37They got nothing to hang out. That's 14.
- 39:42That's a fair point as well. These are odd-style choices, you know?
- 39:48Well, the counselor men, they're supposed to be a little older.
- 39:51I don't know. Yeah, they were looking at like, I guess potentially 18 or 19 years old.
- 39:57There's no way.
- 40:01Regardless, we now appear at a very contentious baseball game where we are literally
- 40:10telling each other to eat shit and die.
- 40:12And the line that I love is, You shouldn't live, Bill.
- 40:17That was my favorite comeback. I think I'm going to actually work that in my
- 40:21rubber You should You know what Bill He shouldn't live.
- 40:28That's what I'm talking about I thought that was hilarious The
- 40:31baseball scene is extended as hell And it is very vulgar And a lot of strange
- 40:37clothing choices Are accentuated And you can really tell the two cabins have
- 40:41a lot of Animosity to each other Ricky is a king shit talker man He's doing
- 40:46God's work out there on the dime God's work.
- 40:51Mozart's playing the worst video game I've ever seen out in the outfield. Makes a killer catch.
- 40:57The dude, out of nowhere, looks like a real schlub. These flows don't fit.
- 41:01Drops the video game. Makes a killer catch.
- 41:05Yeah. That's me out. Off the face, the whole thing. And that's Tom.
- 41:10That's Tom's level coordination.
- 41:12As he falls down in the outfield making a petrified catch.
- 41:17Yeah we're we won a lot of money we
- 41:20were betting and we are killing it man
- 41:22we're doing a we're when i
- 41:25tell you it's a long baseball scene i mean it's a long baseball scene very long
- 41:30they really wanted like hey remember baseball yeah it feels great remember childhood
- 41:35we're we're gonna make sure you remember this shit because we're gonna sit on
- 41:38this and marinate cruminate forever maybe this is the only part that the English approved when it was,
- 41:45Well, it would be Cricket.
- 41:50Fair point. They were like, what is this game they're playing in this dirt field?
- 41:56Cricket. It's Cricket. And we all know Cricket because we all watch Bluey, right?
- 42:02Well, we all watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
- 42:06Cricket? What are we going to do with that? Cricket? Like, what?
- 42:10And Raphael gets his shit dropped.
- 42:13There you go. That's right.
- 42:15By Casey Jones. By Casey Jones, the masked man.
- 42:19Almost looks like Jason, too, which is an interesting segue to getting back to a rec hall.
- 42:23We have some sort of social area. It looks like an open day on a wooden structure
- 42:28that we all hang out in and look at girls and remark about how Angela is fucked
- 42:33up and we need to go and try and get her, I don't know, you know,
- 42:37into a precarious type situation.
- 42:39We're eating... She looks like a damn robot when she's on that bench eating
- 42:44whatever the hell she's eating.
- 42:46More girls to skinny dip because they're referring to 15 guys and only 5 girls.
- 42:51Right. 100 day sausage party going on. Oh yeah.
- 42:55Total sausage party. Sounds like the swingers parties I used to go to.
- 43:01That's... That's a strange thing.
- 43:05Alright. That poor girl. Alright, so... the guys, they're all going swimming,
- 43:12and they're all wanting Angela to get into the water.
- 43:16They're trying to spin some game. It's terrible.
- 43:20I have a blue oyster culture. Props to blue oyster culture, by the way.
- 43:24He's got a mullet. He has no game at all. The other dude in the button-down
- 43:28in the friggin' boat shoes.
- 43:32He's trying to get her to... It's a whole situation. There's a brawl that ensues
- 43:36because Ricky comes up and tries to get her.
- 43:41Ricky to the rescue and Ronnie to the rescue.
- 43:44This is a theme throughout the entire movie.
- 43:48Both Ronnie, the head counselor, and Ricky are on point. Yeah,
- 43:53their cousin Ricky, they're on point.
- 43:55We see early on that Mel and Meg have got a thing.
- 43:59The head woman counselor for our cabin that Angela's in and Mel,
- 44:03the owner, they, I don't know, she's kind of flirty and doing some flirty stuff.
- 44:08Regardless, something to keep an eye on We've got Angela's First line coming
- 44:13up She's not said a goddamn thing the entire time There's a brawl that ensues You know,
- 44:18we've got Paul Who approaches her after the fact As these guys are all beating up each other,
- 44:26And the mel does nothing to lift a finger on any of this shit He's just liable to the whole thing,
- 44:31business owner, like any good business owner, just watches the adolescent boys
- 44:35beat the piss out at each other.
- 44:37We've got Paul who comes and says, are you okay? And kind of reaches out in
- 44:41more of a sensitive area or sensitive time for her, and she says,
- 44:46goodnight. A line delivered with such perfection.
- 44:48Why does she need to continue to say any other lines?
- 44:54Her acting so far has been literally staring out into outer space as if she's seen a ghost.
- 45:01She looks as though she's seen Many dead people And she's going to see many
- 45:05dead people apparently I don't really have much else to say about this scene
- 45:09Ali do you have anything else to say?
- 45:11What would you say if someone was trying to defend your honor?
- 45:14I mean, that's a good excuse to talk if you've been silent this whole time.
- 45:18I mean, the least you can do is say goodnight, in my opinion.
- 45:21It's a good idea just to talk for the first time.
- 45:25So, yeah. So, we've got a little budding relationship, potentially,
- 45:28between Paul and Angela.
- 45:30Something to remark on, at least, at a minimum.
- 45:34We go then, and Judy is out there looking like, I want to break this up,
- 45:40because that's who Judy is.
- 45:41She's out there talking to a bunch your mother good eyes.
- 45:43Meanwhile, she's looking to make Angela's life a little help.
- 45:47So we're back outside. We've got girls pressure boys pressuring girls to skinny dip.
- 45:54And the girls do not want to go. And they do not.
- 45:58There's just a bunch of dudes who get bare ass naked and jump into the water.
- 46:02And I have to tell you, I've never been in a situation in my life that there
- 46:08was just a bunch of dudes decided to get naked and jump in the water.
- 46:11I heard you never Skinny Dipped before. You never left.
- 46:15I Have you done this stuff with a bunch of dudes? No.
- 46:21Well, no, I have never Skinny Dipped. I have Skinny Dipped with guys and girls.
- 46:26But as if it all, girls? I've never seen this many dudes go in the water skinny dips and by themselves.
- 46:33Like, there has to be a girl in there somewhere. Just junk and suntan lines.
- 46:37I mean, there are Yeah, obviously it has to be a girl in there but either of that has to be.
- 46:42There was not in this scene. In my groups, I was always the first one in. So I can't.
- 46:48Go on. You should own the dudes. Go on.
- 46:53I guess the good thing's the best. Bill's never lived. He had experience. The idea...
- 46:58Bill's never lived. Yes, yes. Go on. Yes, yes. I have very bad luck,
- 47:02as we know. My name is very obvious.
- 47:05He shouldn't live, Bill. He shouldn't live.
- 47:08He shouldn't live, Bill. That should be a good bumper sticker idea.
- 47:12So, I think the idea was that if the guys get naked and go in,
- 47:16the girls will follow. this backfires woefully.
- 47:19None of the girls go in. They won't.
- 47:21That's real life. And you know what? Good for them. That is real life.
- 47:25God damn it. So the movie has a lot of true-to-true-form aspects to it there.
- 47:30There's a guy and a girl that go on a boat. I don't know what these people's
- 47:33names are. I don't really give a shit. They're on a canoe.
- 47:36They tip. She leaves. The boy, I guess, Kenny. Another one name.
- 47:41God damn it. Yeah, no Kenny.
- 47:43Kenny is trying to scare this chick. I want to say he's trying to get lucky
- 47:47but he's not doing a very good job.
- 47:49He literally just antagonizes her away after flipping the boat over.
- 47:53I don't know if it's a game at all. The dick move is not going to get you any
- 47:57action. No. Oh, we're at this part. Okay. Yeah.
- 48:00We are flipping the boat over. Maybe trying to get her in a confined space,
- 48:06which is, that's so weird.
- 48:08Yeah, very kind of creepy. Why would you do that? Like always Sunny,
- 48:12there's the implication they're on the boat. Yeah, it's always an implication
- 48:15Are these women in danger?
- 48:19It's not a C implication By the way You don't get it at all No,
- 48:24I don't, dude, I don't get it It's a C implication It's all about the implications Oh,
- 48:30her name is Leslie, another IA name So Kenny and Leslie Get in a canoe They
- 48:35both go over, Leslie leaves The chicks all go to They're out, they're real schmucks,
- 48:41Kenny is still underneath saying something about, watch out for the water moccasin.
- 48:45There's water snakes and, you know, a couple of dundrums and heptics and the whole thing.
- 48:51Water snakes. Oh, yeah, water snakes. Watch out for those water snakes.
- 48:55There's a person that pops up under the canoe that Kenny is in,
- 48:58yelling back on short to the girl he's, I guess, trying to get with.
- 49:03And this person drives Kenny. We see the back of the head, a little bit of long hair.
- 49:08So if this is a mystery that we're working on, We're going to go off the premise
- 49:12that we don't know what's happening.
- 49:14This guy gets it. So a moment of silence for Kenny, even though he's kind of dead.
- 49:18Rest in peace, Kenny. Rest in peace, Kenny. Is that what a moment of silence is happening?
- 49:23Yeah, they... It's a thing.
- 49:27This mystery of Salient, we're starting to get the concept that somebody's out
- 49:31there running around evening the score. What could it be?
- 49:34Guy or girl? I don't know. Well, we saw Masculine Hands, but the second kill,
- 49:40or the second accident, quote-unquote, we don't really have a good concept longer here.
- 49:46So we don't have a good concept of what's going on here. It's kind of dark here.
- 49:50The lake, we come back in the morning, the lake has been trashed.
- 49:53We've got a counselor out here who's literally losing his mind.
- 49:56I identify with this because every time I wake up and everything's destroyed,
- 50:00I'm like, I go off in the house. So here we are.
- 50:04We've got a mess. The canoe is floated in.
- 50:09He flips the chinny over Because he's got to do a lot of clean up In order to make this suitable,
- 50:14For the kids to work Or play or whatever Near this lake area And as we flip
- 50:21the boat over, Kenny is dead And it is Rough looking, man There's a snake that comes out of his mouth,
- 50:28This face I mean, the may dove This was, yeah, this was very like Ooh,
- 50:34damn Yeah It was hard for whatever type of special effect they used.
- 50:42I like that they had the water snake coming out of the mouth.
- 50:46That concludes the what?
- 50:48The water snake comes out of Kenny's mouth on the beach.
- 50:52That's a good conclusion to Kenny.
- 50:55Right, and then we've got the same pyramid groomed like that.
- 50:59You know what it is? It's the eyes.
- 51:01It is. The eyes. For sure.
- 51:05Dying with the eyes open is always way creepier than eyes closed.
- 51:11Too much white. He's got chunks of his face missing.
- 51:15He's got snakes coming out of his mouth. Before we do the canoe flip over,
- 51:20the counselor that I identified with who's freaking out prior to seeing Kenny's
- 51:26face melt away says, this lake is a mess.
- 51:30These peckerheads suck. And I think that's a good quote.
- 51:35I like that quote. These peckerheads suck.
- 51:37Yeah, I can identify with that. Sounds like me at work.
- 51:41Yeah, it sounds like me I'm not really so much at work But maybe sometimes We've
- 51:47got the good makeup job We've got, a policeman is basically Saying that there's Potentially could be a.
- 51:54An accidental death, it could be You know, I don't know,
- 51:58A death that is maybe needs to be investigated.
- 52:03Take note of the policeman's mustache. This guy comes back. His mustache looks
- 52:09robust. It's natural looking.
- 52:11Everything. There's nothing to possibly see anything wrong with that mustache.
- 52:16Later on, this same gentleman comes back and he clearly shaved his face because
- 52:20it is the thickest mustache I've ever seen.
- 52:22We'll get there. So Mel is trying to sell the cop on the fact that there's nothing
- 52:27to see here. We're not reporting it as an accident.
- 52:29We don't want any issue at all.
- 52:33He works on another cover-up, whereas Ronnie, the counselor,
- 52:37kind of takes the policeman aside and is like, I was going to say before Mel
- 52:40Highsox left that that kid was a strong swimmer, and, you know, he would know.
- 52:46So Ronnie's kind of putting a little bug in the cops here, like,
- 52:48this may not be an accident. This is probably something that needs to be looked a little further into.
- 52:55And his arms grew. His arm grew even more, and his pectoral muscles grew even
- 53:00more, and his package is even more robust than before, Ron killing it in this entire movie.
- 53:06And he never seen him again in any other movie. So this is one moment to really,
- 53:11this is his time. This is Ron's time.
- 53:15I'm going to take a moment here to talk about the beginning of the movie.
- 53:19The beginning of the movie had the two little twins playing in the water with their dad, right?
- 53:25The kid, the boy, who's in that scene, did you know that he, a little factoid,
- 53:33he is the brother, the older brother of a cast member on the Jersey Shore show, the situation?
- 53:44That little kid is the older brother of the situation there,
- 53:48there's still a show going on at the Jersey Shore yeah I haven't watched a show,
- 53:54personally I felt like it was a strange kind of,
- 53:59yeah, I didn't know the older brother was in anything it's a factoid,
- 54:02if nothing else, these people are all famous in some way that he's a child actor
- 54:07and his other brother gets into a reality show that's a hit in the,
- 54:122000s time frame. That's crazy.
- 54:15It's a bit weird. It's a strange little... But it also shows you how Hollywood is all connected.
- 54:23It's all kind of incestual in a way, isn't it?
- 54:26They all kind of... They stick with the same groups of people.
- 54:30They all drink kids' blood? Yeah, maybe. I've never been to those parties, so I don't know.
- 54:40That's that's beyond my pay grade sir i know i'm not drinking any kids but,
- 54:45the next scene is the volleyball game yeah yes i did say yeah and i really meant
- 54:50it the the next scene is a volleyball game scene that asshole judy is wearing
- 54:56a judy shirt on the front of her shirt what in the hell is that about,
- 55:02I thought the same thing. Yeah, she's just, you know, the sideways ponytail,
- 55:07the nasty face, the curmudgeon face. I don't really like anything about Judy. She's a douchebag.
- 55:14Meg, the counselor, gets nasty with Angela, who is not participating.
- 55:19Angela's on the sideline talking to our friend Paul.
- 55:23I guess the boys and the girls are not supposed to come in when we're doing
- 55:27activities. They're playing volleyball.
- 55:29Angela's not participating. Judy calls her out. Meg goes over,
- 55:32the counselor being the authority figure, tells the dude Paul to scram.
- 55:37Angela is, you know, giving all the verbal cues to Paul, then slowly turns and
- 55:42goes back into silent mode when Meg is talking to her, which is fucking bizarre.
- 55:47And we've got a clear conflict between the authority figure and Angela.
- 55:56I don't know, you know, they... Ah.
- 55:59Yep. Susie is also to the rescue. Whenever Meg starts coming at Angela.
- 56:06Susie steps in and stands up for her.
- 56:09And Angela talks to Susie, no problem.
- 56:13But isn't the crazy part of the scene, the guy that's been trying to hit on her, leaves?
- 56:20Yeah, well, I guess so. Why is that crazy?
- 56:23Why are you putting her in a spot now? I don't know. I didn't find it crazy
- 56:28just because Meg is the older authority figure, so he's like,
- 56:31I better get out of here, which the West told me to bounce.
- 56:35Yeah, but like, you know, you're kind of interested in this...
- 56:40Person. Right. You're saying he should have stuck up for her a little bit.
- 56:43Just be like, hey, what's your problem?
- 56:46That's a good point. He immediately just like, oh, gotta go.
- 56:50You know what I would say, Tom? I'd say that's a red flag in a relationship.
- 56:54Even though they are only 13-year-olds, goddammit, you should stick up for your woman.
- 57:00Huge red flag. I'm with you. Paul and Angela later on in the night are holding
- 57:04hands coming out of that little social hall, and,
- 57:08they have a first kiss type scene and Judy's behind them sort of giving them
- 57:13the mad dog when I'm on the way out, giving them a stink eye.
- 57:16There's a kissing scene which is the most awkward thing I have ever witnessed.
- 57:24It's a kiss where one person is not participating and then another person is
- 57:30wanting more than the other person.
- 57:32It's like I got a sort of form for first kiss as far as first kisses go.
- 57:36It's very uncomfortable. Yeah.
- 57:39Do you remember your first kiss, though? I do.
- 57:44It wasn't pretty, but I don't think it was as ugly as this. He still got some problems.
- 57:52He kisses her and she looks like he just farted and then he says,
- 57:56can I do it again, another goodnight kiss and he goes in again.
- 58:01She kind of like rolls her eyes and gets out of there like somebody just, again,
- 58:06farted in the pew at church i can relate to that you
- 58:08know similar similar first kiss
- 58:11situation like really oh oh all right let's do
- 58:15it i don't know i wasn't like eyeballing him like angela maybe he was maybe
- 58:22boys are kind of decided that they're going to make the first move to their
- 58:25they're more mentally prepared than the than the ambushee who's who's got this
- 58:30sprung upon them unbeknownst to them. This was a plan the entire time.
- 58:35If you're, like, really into the person, I feel like you'd be really into the
- 58:37kiss, but if you're not into the person, it's like, oh, God,
- 58:40this guy just kissed me now. What do I do?
- 58:42Well, see, Bill, I'm going to.
- 58:45I can't make the first move. Really? You don't make the first move on a date? Really?
- 58:52You let the girl make the first move? I'll move on that. That is a strange move, sir.
- 58:58Yeah, I know, but it's kind of got to feel, like, natural.
- 59:02Yeah. Oh, I agree. And I have been in a few situations where it seemed like I should make a move.
- 59:08I did anyway, and it blew up in my face.
- 59:11So... Yeah, so that's the thing. Like, I'm, like, I can maybe make the move,
- 59:16but I don't want it to blow up in my face.
- 59:19Rejection's a hell of a drug. Yeah, rejection would be tough.
- 59:23The boys are back in their cabin as the awkward kiss is concluded.
- 59:27Paul goes back to his cabin.
- 59:29The boys are all huddled around that poor son-of-a-bitch Mozart who's getting
- 59:33whipped cream in his hand and tickling his face so that he squashes it directly
- 59:38in his face. I have been the victim of this, and I have done this to other people.
- 59:43This is a classic. But Mozart does not feel happy about what just happened to
- 59:48him as he grabs a knife and begins to run around the cabin wanting to stab Ricky,
- 59:55who is the ringleader of this whole thing. And I'm telling you,
- 59:57we're going to see this knife later.
- 59:58It's a straight edge knife. This is no little fucking butter knife.
- 1:00:01This is a real deal, Holyfield.
- 1:00:03I cannot relate to chasing someone around with a knife. But, you know, whatever.
- 1:00:11You haven't lived in a...
- 1:00:14Household. I don't know. You can chase around with a knife like that? No.
- 1:00:20But I've heard of other people that have. Right. Okay. It's happened. It's happened.
- 1:00:28Well, Ricky doesn't care. Obviously, he's also had this situation happen to him.
- 1:00:32Maybe his crazy beret-wearing mother chases him around the house with a knife.
- 1:00:37He lobbies against the taking of the knife. I have no idea why, but...
- 1:00:42At the end of this thing, there is the oddest pig pile.
- 1:00:46Oh, yeah, the pig pile. Does that happen at boys' sleepovers?
- 1:00:49No, I've never... Every time, but we're naked.
- 1:00:55It's right after skinny dipping by ourselves... Exactly. ...that we all jump
- 1:00:59on some dude who, I guess, had a kiss with a girl.
- 1:01:02And in order to celebrate that, all of our genitalia needs to be firmly placed
- 1:01:07up against each other in a pig pile.
- 1:01:08Oiled and oiled up. oil, rice, and a lot of head of greeting.
- 1:01:13The oil is important. It comes off weird and it never becomes unweird.
- 1:01:22In the beginning of the next scene, we've got Paul and Angela.
- 1:01:27We're doing the guessing game. Guess who? And he covers up her eyes.
- 1:01:32She guesses her cousin. She guesses Burt Reynolds.
- 1:01:36And then, surprise, it's Paul, and the romance just continues to bud.
- 1:01:42Lots of good, you know, wilt.
- 1:01:45Yeah. You know, lots of lots of good body language.
- 1:01:50Of course, Judy's gotta come over and ruin this shit. They're vibing big time.
- 1:01:54She comes over and says some nasty comment.
- 1:01:57Yeah. Judy is again the mean girl and calls on Meg to kind of gang up on her, and what they do,
- 1:02:05Meg comes over and, like, the Terminator heat-seeking missile goes right to
- 1:02:10Angela I guess she's looking the dude also pales again.
- 1:02:15I'm sorry time out, time out, time out,
- 1:02:19Alright, this is the point where they're all sitting down Yeah Again,
- 1:02:24that's Alright Yeah, so I think I think I know where we're at the movie That's all I wanted to know.
- 1:02:33So Meg Tries to elicit an answer from Angela Why don't you go swimming She just
- 1:02:39gives her the death stare And shakes the absolute shit out of her Bouncing her
- 1:02:43head around I don't know where Ronnie is, but he's flying in like Superman again Getting Meg off of her,
- 1:02:49They're armed more famey than before, looking like the goddamn Incredible Hulk.
- 1:02:54Look at those pants. I know. They're popping up. In that juice. In that juice.
- 1:02:59Yeah, he's definitely in mid-cycle. And he's looking great, yeah.
- 1:03:02You know, I'm going to rub them up for Bronnie. It's not going to be quelled
- 1:03:06at all through this episode.
- 1:03:08Bronnie, you're going to ask you again. Pardon me.
- 1:03:11As Angela's stare down into Meg was, I guess, not well-received.
- 1:03:16Get a hold of yourself. A plane, that airplane scene sort of reminiscent of that.
- 1:03:21We got Angela now back at the, Angela and Judy, swarming again back in the cabin
- 1:03:29right after the scene where Meg shakes the absolute shit out of Angela.
- 1:03:34We've got the line of the movie, I think. And I've seen this movie twice.
- 1:03:39First time, Ali said I called it out as well.
- 1:03:43This scene has the line of it.
- 1:03:46Time I guess I react the same way you're a carpenter's dream as flat as a board and ready to screw,
- 1:03:54wow that's it yes that's it that's the scene and let me I'm just going to play
- 1:03:59the clip real quick Tom hold on one second.
- 1:04:03That's not it. That's not it. Hold on. Hold on. Technical difficulties.
- 1:04:10Vlad is a board and needs a screw. Yeah, I popped really hard.
- 1:04:17So that gets the nice lady camp counselor, not Meg, but Susie,
- 1:04:23to slap the ever-loving shit out of Judy.
- 1:04:26Five fingers across the face. Loved it.
- 1:04:29Yeah, Judy, when five fingers say cross the face. Yeah. Slap.
- 1:04:33Slap. And she's Rick James right now.
- 1:04:35The surviving slap and the whole thing, Angela kind of stumbles out to go see
- 1:04:43her cousin and there is an ensuing balloon fight, water balloon fight on a roof.
- 1:04:50Yeah, this is weird. Have you ever had a balloon fight on a roof, Tom?
- 1:04:55On a roof? On a roof of a cabin. But they're literally throwing like with no warning.
- 1:05:04Oh, yeah. No, no. They're festivals each other on the roof, and then they jump
- 1:05:09into effect and toss a balloon at Angela's face. She goes down like a sack of shit.
- 1:05:14You know, I gotta be honest with you. A balloon fight on the roof throws me
- 1:05:17for a loop, but Angela's going on the chops.
- 1:05:21That's borderline assault. Okay, I'm with you.
- 1:05:24And it really rides to the occasion of Ricky losing his ever-loving mind to
- 1:05:28defend his cousin. I mean, going to the point where he was so unstable In the
- 1:05:34defense of his cousin Hey, hey Yeah, I don't know You cocksuckers!
- 1:05:39Like, he's like, it's over and over and over again And he was wearing the Yankee
- 1:05:42shirt And he's wearing the Yankee shirt Well, I think we answered the question Yeah.
- 1:05:49Yeah, Mel decides that everyone is in trouble.
- 1:05:54The kids on the roof, equal punishment to Ricky, just cursing them all out,
- 1:05:58calling them pricks and all types of other things.
- 1:06:01I don't know. Does the penalty fit the crime? The kids on the roof getting the
- 1:06:05same punishment as Ricky cursing them all out because of his filthy mouth, quote unquote.
- 1:06:11Does that seem like a fair... Does Five Socks, Mel, give them the fair treatment there?
- 1:06:18Yeah. Is it a good judgment call? Yeah, they deserve the same punishment.
- 1:06:23Really? I don't think so.
- 1:06:25It's being dangerous. Mel wants to keep his camp in order to put him on any
- 1:06:28more accidents. Well, this fight was, this water balloon fight on the roof was
- 1:06:31happening with Mel in the background.
- 1:06:33He had already seen the goddamn thing happen. Presumably.
- 1:06:36He's blind. The only reason he jumps in is because somebody gets hit in the
- 1:06:39face and goes down like a sack of potatoes.
- 1:06:42And this kid's ready to fight. These kids are tower Oprah Rickey, by the way.
- 1:06:47This guy's better he's got a lot of that's like this it's not the size of the
- 1:06:50dog but the size of the fight in the dog hey I don't know,
- 1:06:55Scrappy Ricky he gets punished the kids on the roof get punished,
- 1:07:00I don't know I'm not into that but the line that Mel says to Angela are you
- 1:07:06okay Angela after getting in the face with the,
- 1:07:09water balloon you better change before you catch pneumonia what an old person
- 1:07:14thing to say a little bit of what.
- 1:07:18All right, let's take back.
- 1:07:22Water balloons to the dome. Right.
- 1:07:26Like, that's straight assault. Oh, I mean, seriously? Have you never been hit
- 1:07:31with a water balloon, Tom? You don't normally aim for the face.
- 1:07:34I do normally aim for the face. I play for keeps when I play water balloon fights.
- 1:07:39Everyone knows what they're getting into. Now, Angela did not know what she was getting into.
- 1:07:44However, the warning from Mel to change before you get pneumonia has anyone
- 1:07:49in the history of water balloon fights summer, ever to track pneumonia to the
- 1:07:53point where they need to be born with guys?
- 1:07:56That's an oddity. I don't care who you are. It's a weird line. It's a weird line.
- 1:08:00And that's really, yeah, we're not... Alright. That's a very odd take from Mel,
- 1:08:06who's just basically trying to cover up any issue that's ever happened at his
- 1:08:09campsite or his overnight camping area.
- 1:08:13I do want to say that the scene...
- 1:08:16Bill asked me this question before that how real
- 1:08:20or not real of what's happening in the girls cabin
- 1:08:24versus the boys or even just outside of course the
- 1:08:27guys are gonna roughhouse they bust each other's balls they
- 1:08:31fight they wrestle but then they're kind of still friends at the end of the day the girls
- 1:08:34i think this movie really does capture how
- 1:08:37evil girls are to each
- 1:08:40other especially behind the scenes and especially if
- 1:08:43a boy is involved like judy doesn't really want paul or anything like that but
- 1:08:49just because another girl is getting attention the other girls act evil towards
- 1:08:54them yeah so I feel like this is a more realistic take on what camp would be
- 1:08:58like at an actual sleepaway camp as opposed to,
- 1:09:02spiteful as opposed to can I add to that bill yeah of course,
- 1:09:07So, you know, I went to college. I was in a Greek organization, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:09:13But what I heard from the sororities.
- 1:09:19Absolutely, like... Yeah, the feelings are longer on each other.
- 1:09:23So hard, yeah. So, like, this... Like, now that I'm thinking of it now, this makes sense.
- 1:09:30Yeah. It's really realistic with how evil the women actually are.
- 1:09:35More so than other horror movies that you've seen where there is a mean girl
- 1:09:38in the mix it's more realistic women are like girls are just harder on girls,
- 1:09:45not saying not saying that,
- 1:09:49but guys are harder on guys. Well, you have some reason. We don't just bully.
- 1:09:55Well, that's true. And I know in more recent times, bullying has been cut down.
- 1:10:02There's been campaigns upon campaigns to cut down on bullying.
- 1:10:05It's not really tolerated schools. I mean, I got bullied all the time when I
- 1:10:08was in high school, but I do have to say that there's some sort of tribalism
- 1:10:13that happens with, I guess, with younger kids.
- 1:10:16They all don't kind of band together. They put on the weakest kid And they just
- 1:10:19continue to Almost like prison mentality, right?
- 1:10:23Like they all are in the same area And there's something about the human condition Exactly.
- 1:10:28It identifies the weak one And then they all stand together in order to Continue
- 1:10:33to beat on this person Who's unsuspecting,
- 1:10:36It's a weird thing that we all deal with As human beings So I've got something,
- 1:10:45Angela goes back to factory reset after she gets hit in the face with a water bottle.
- 1:10:51Back to the movie. Yeah, she goes,
- 1:10:55directly up to the deadest face I've ever seen, even before when she was just
- 1:11:01at the moment, even like the eight years later scene, in the beginning of the
- 1:11:05movie when there were tears with the hand.
- 1:11:07She goes so dead-faced after the water balloon that I'm taken back by how this
- 1:11:14water balloon has impacted her. I thought maybe she contracted pneumonia instantly.
- 1:11:18But that's just me. We have a factoid here. My name is Billy,
- 1:11:22and I was allergic to bees, and I never went to camp.
- 1:11:26So I feel like I just confessed something to you guys.
- 1:11:30There's another Billy that's about to get some bees to his mug.
- 1:11:34He goes to the bathroom. Can anybody take a shit around here at peace?
- 1:11:38Is one of the lines that he says right before he gets stung to death.
- 1:11:43Billy goes into the stall, and there's a little room with his frippy-ass looking door and knobs.
- 1:11:48The broom goes across the stalls it is in order to lock him in.
- 1:11:53And then someone on the opposite side, Knife's open the screen and dumps in a beehive.
- 1:12:01That presumably destroys this kid. Would that door broom combo to lock the stall,
- 1:12:09would that hold you in there, Toll?
- 1:12:11Absolutely fucking not. No. There's no possible way.
- 1:12:15No way. There's two screws on the handle. You're pushing right through that.
- 1:12:21Shoulder tackle that door or I would squeeze underneath. Exactly. Exactly.
- 1:12:30I'd be on my belly crawling out. If I couldn't undo Fort Knox of this stall,
- 1:12:36I would be on my belly crawling down to get the hell away from all my bees.
- 1:12:40Not cool The makeup job on
- 1:12:43Dead Billy Who by the way was involved
- 1:12:46with the water balloon incident That as I said He's kind
- 1:12:49of the ringleader of the water balloon incident On the roof The makeup
- 1:12:53job is so gruesome It looks like there's raspberries
- 1:12:56on his arms With the welts of the
- 1:12:59bees That stung him Oh yeah blisters everywhere Giant butt It was rough looking
- 1:13:06man Thanks for crawling in and out you can say what you want about the validity
- 1:13:10of this movie it's a 10 on all levels of the makeup the effects are unbelievable
- 1:13:16and they're all real by the way these are all real.
- 1:13:21It is it is a scene and a half and Mel has an idea so he actually got stung
- 1:13:28by bees no no well there's an actor who really did put bees on his face live
- 1:13:34bees like they put some sort of like They use the smoke. You know how they feel like the beehive?
- 1:13:40Go to disperse them and put them where they want them to go.
- 1:13:44Well, when there's... All right. So I'm going to tell you some knowledge.
- 1:13:48Go ahead. When there's smoke with bees, it makes them very docile.
- 1:13:53Right. So when they sense smoke, they eat honey, and it makes them very like, okay, we're cool.
- 1:14:04So like oh we gotta get out of here got it so they won't stay me,
- 1:14:14And I guess that's how the actors kind of deal with that, too.
- 1:14:17And that's a good trick by the beekeepers as well.
- 1:14:22You can pay me enough to have that amount of bees on my face.
- 1:14:25I once was allergic, but I have no longer.
- 1:14:28The EpiPen situation is no longer something I need to worry about.
- 1:14:32However, Mel, we switch to Mel, who's got an idea that there's a killer on the
- 1:14:37loose, that he's ruined financially.
- 1:14:39Everybody's getting their kids from the camp.
- 1:14:42Ronnie tries to defuse the situation. There's only about 25 kids left.
- 1:14:47Mel is very apoplectic about how he's finished financially. It seems like Mel
- 1:14:51is fuming and wanting and gunning for somebody. Who is he gunning for?
- 1:14:58He doesn't say the name. Allie, who is he gunning for? Who does he think the
- 1:15:01killer is? He believes it's Ricky. You think so?
- 1:15:05I think he's convinced it's Ricky, always defending his cousin.
- 1:15:09Just based on the shouting match we had at the rooftop thing?
- 1:15:11And all the anger he shows and just any aggression.
- 1:15:16He yells a lot. He swears a lot. So he thinks he's capable of murder.
- 1:15:21Tom, do you think that Mel thinks that Ricky's a killer?
- 1:15:27No. Bullshit. You don't think he thinks that? Nope. Who do you think he thinks
- 1:15:32it is? Does he have no idea? No.
- 1:15:35He has no idea. He doesn't know what the fuck's going on. I completely agree with that.
- 1:15:41Mel High Sox, it does come off like a complete looney tune in this entire thing.
- 1:15:46But he is a man with a little bit of power in this little kingdom of his.
- 1:15:50He's going to run around, and I guess, in fact, his own internal investigation, as it were.
- 1:15:55Angela seeks out to meet Paul in the back of some area, I guess a cabin area.
- 1:16:04And she says oh i thought you were the killer like
- 1:16:08you know oh she's so scared gives a scare summertime
- 1:16:11love blooms they roll they tussle around in the sand there's an entire little
- 1:16:16scene where he's trying to go for a boob maybe they're trying to get to first
- 1:16:20base yes we're in full swing as far as love is in the air little hearts and
- 1:16:26bubbles and butterflies are flying around,
- 1:16:28these two kids that are tussling around in the beach area.
- 1:16:34But out of nowhere, she gets up, runs around, runs away.
- 1:16:40When the flashback hits? I think this is when the flashback hits, right? Yeah.
- 1:16:46It's a very odd flashback. Do you remember the flashback time?
- 1:16:51This is a flashback where Angela, I guess, has some sort of a thought about her past.
- 1:16:58Is it when the flashback happens? I think it's the two little kids who see the guts.
- 1:17:05Yeah, right there. So there's two little kids in the doorway and there's two
- 1:17:08males laying in bed together, kind of caressing each other and giving a little,
- 1:17:13you know, a very loving embrace of two male lovers.
- 1:17:17And we now find out for the first time that dad, from the beginning of the boat scene,
- 1:17:22John, and the other person who's mature, who looks shocked when the boat runs over the whole family,
- 1:17:29these two were lovers together, because they're in a relationship,
- 1:17:33and there's a scene where the two twins are sitting in the bed rotating,
- 1:17:37and the boy is pointing at the girl, and it's a little bit unsettling,
- 1:17:41the entire thing is black background, there's not a lot It's clearly like a memory.
- 1:17:47She comes back to reality, Angela rather, pushes old boy off,
- 1:17:52who's trying to go a little bit further than maybe she was comfortable with, and she scampers off.
- 1:17:57What are our thoughts about the flashback scene?
- 1:18:01Was it as awkward for me as it was to you guys? I'm here.
- 1:18:06Maybe awkward. Definitely awkward. Yeah.
- 1:18:11Yeah, that scene with them as kids and they're pointing at each other, like, I...
- 1:18:18Didn't like that. I didn't really get it that first time around watching it,
- 1:18:24I'm like, why is this scene even in the movie? I didn't understand it at first.
- 1:18:29And it comes to light a little bit further down the road, but the gay lover
- 1:18:32scene, that's a little bit advanced for its time.
- 1:18:36We're talking about 83. 83.
- 1:18:40During the height of the AIDS epidemic. Yeah.
- 1:18:44And gay relationships are not out there.
- 1:18:47This is not something that's common, at least consumed media material.
- 1:18:53It's not like a thing that we all talk about. It's almost a taboo at this stage.
- 1:18:58It's before my time. I was born in 84, but I would assume that,
- 1:19:03I mean, even in the 90s, it was in the taboo range.
- 1:19:06Yeah, that's why, like, alright.
- 1:19:10I know where we are in the movie review part. You know where we are?
- 1:19:16No, I do not know where we are. All right.
- 1:19:20Well, we've got the two lovebirds on the beach rolling around in the sand.
- 1:19:26We've got a flashback of the two, apparently the father and the gay lover together
- 1:19:32in bed as the two twins watch on and kind of giggle.
- 1:19:35And we've got the two twins sitting on the bed, one boy pointing at the girl as it rotates.
- 1:19:42And now we're heading to the flag football scene. We're doing flag football. Yeah.
- 1:19:48The flag football scene, it's a very small group of kids.
- 1:19:52Almost everyone is left because of the presumed killer on the loose.
- 1:19:56There's only about 25 kids left.
- 1:19:58And we're playing flag football. We're running around playing capture the flag.
- 1:20:02It's just not football at all. It's capture the flag.
- 1:20:05Oh, right. Sorry. We used to play kick the can. I never played capture the flag. I don't know.
- 1:20:10The flag needs flags. We didn't have flags. We got a camp. Wait,
- 1:20:13wait, wait. I'm sorry. You never played capture the flag?
- 1:20:16I mean, in school, possibly.
- 1:20:19But when in the neighborhood...
- 1:20:22We played kick the can, which is basically the same premise.
- 1:20:25Kind of come out of a hiding spot, run up to the can. There's somebody goaltending the can.
- 1:20:29And if they put two hands on you, you're out or whatever.
- 1:20:33It's the same sort of concept. You ever play stickball?
- 1:20:37Stickball? Yeah.
- 1:20:40I, yeah, I have played stickball. Won't you give me a hand job?
- 1:20:45Not really. I don't like to play handball with me. Fine.
- 1:20:50No, like with a blue ball You can't be going, oh, there's two people Yeah,
- 1:20:55exactly, that's what I got I got blue balls I'm telling you what You gotta figure
- 1:21:01something else out Because I can't help you out This will not be the dad scene
- 1:21:05in the bet With me and you tonight,
- 1:21:08So we're playing The flag.
- 1:21:12We got Angela and Paul There's a little bit of a recap on What did you run and da-da-da-da-da.
- 1:21:18It's a comical blank stare, run off into the distance type thing.
- 1:21:25I have to go. She runs.
- 1:21:27Like, as in I gotta go return some videotapes? Or, like, is this an American
- 1:21:32Psycho type of excuse? I have to go.
- 1:21:35She runs out into the woods.
- 1:21:37I need to return some videotapes. Exactly. That's the weird excuse that she gives. I have to go.
- 1:21:44She gives no explanation of Paul. who's definitely desperate to make amends with her.
- 1:21:49Judy swoops in to tempt the young Paul with her developed body and her sideways ponytail.
- 1:21:57The cousins reunite on the road with the dumbest plan and nonsensical plan I
- 1:22:01had ever heard of to win a capture the flag game where it's so convoluted that
- 1:22:07they're going to hide in the woods and they're going to jump out and get the
- 1:22:11flag at some point, whatever.
- 1:22:12It's a whole weird scene. It's
- 1:22:14basically just nonsense to get us into the woods so we can discover...
- 1:22:19Two kids, Judy and Paul, kind of making out. That wasn't so bad.
- 1:22:25All of these kids are in the woods. We got four out of the 25 kids in the woods.
- 1:22:29Who the hell is out there playing the game?
- 1:22:31Half the damn residents of this camp are now in the woods trying to try to,
- 1:22:36you know, play and kiss each other. I don't know.
- 1:22:39This was before Lyme disease. This was before that, right. This was before the
- 1:22:44Lyme's disease epidemic hits.
- 1:22:47We're just running around in a brush with a pie. The highest shorts you've ever
- 1:22:49seen. No one's worried about ticks or nothing. At this point, who's the killer?
- 1:22:54Allie, when you first saw him, who did you think the killer was?
- 1:22:57I'm leaning towards Ricky. Really? Who's the killer?
- 1:23:01Hmm. Wait, I'm here. Hmm.
- 1:23:05I don't know. It's hard to tell. Hard to tell at this point.
- 1:23:09I thought for sure it was Ricky, too.
- 1:23:13Ricky? Yeah, he... I don't know. He's kind of giving off this weird, angry vibe.
- 1:23:20And he's getting angrier as the movie continues. He gets more and more angry.
- 1:23:25So, yeah, we discover that Paul is making out with Judy. They both discover them individually.
- 1:23:32That wasn't so bad. Judy teases Angela stares blankly it's kind of rinse and repeat at this point,
- 1:23:41Mel so after the kissing scene
- 1:23:44yeah we're all discovered we're all chasing after each other we've all discovered
- 1:23:47that each other are making out with each other regardless we're back at the
- 1:23:52watering hole on the league side Paul's trying to apologize to Angela where
- 1:23:57she completely just checked the fuck out mentally she's just staring off of the sunset.
- 1:24:03Judy teases Angela. Angela stares blankly.
- 1:24:06Mel questions Ricky by the lake as well and sort of gives him like the old Columbo
- 1:24:13questioning where were you and what are you doing and how's your summer been and the whole thing.
- 1:24:18Meg and Judy gang up on Angela and toss her into the lake.
- 1:24:22In front of the owner who does something, who does nothing as well again,
- 1:24:27is complicit in the bullying of children.
- 1:24:31He tries to hold Ricky back You're not going to protect her this time Yeah Physically
- 1:24:37accosting Ricky In the meantime.
- 1:24:41This guy Mel's a real clown There's a lot of
- 1:24:44staring by Angela And then she gets tossed in the lake for her effort Everybody
- 1:24:48acts like this is A really big deal Which I guess it is You've got these people
- 1:24:54who are in charge These counselors who are in charge of these kids And they're
- 1:24:58bullying other children Mike's supposed to be taking care of her,
- 1:25:01not ganging up with the other...
- 1:25:05Campers and throwing her in water. Yeah. Who just dumps our children into a camp?
- 1:25:13Well, somebody does. Or somebody used to. We talked about how negligent on parents, too.
- 1:25:19If you're part of these 25 campers that are left here, why have you not brought your child home yet?
- 1:25:25There's been a few deaths so far. Right.
- 1:25:29That, too. At some point, if you're not taking your kid out of this,
- 1:25:34there's been multiple deaths.
- 1:25:35There's been an injury, a serious burn victim injury.
- 1:25:39No one's taking their kid out? Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Time out.
- 1:25:43But there's no way to let people know, because we're thinking of today.
- 1:25:48I don't think we can text people. That's a good point.
- 1:25:52I don't know, man. At some point. A telephone. A telephone has been invented.
- 1:25:59It's an answer, that seems, certainly.
- 1:26:01Come get your kid. All these other kids and dying.
- 1:26:04I'm sorry. I'm sorry. My phone don't work. Or do you think it's the kids calling home?
- 1:26:09Like, hey, mom. Give me the hell out of here. Billy just died in the bathroom
- 1:26:13with all these bees. Can I come home?
- 1:26:15Like, they don't ask for the fire. Because I don't think Mel is sending out a message to anyone.
- 1:26:21I don't think Mel or any of the... Well, maybe Ronnie is.
- 1:26:24Maybe Ronnie's out there trying to call Darren's because Ronnie saves the day
- 1:26:28again, shakes Mel out of his stupid rage before he gives You know,
- 1:26:33Ricky and old DDT on the sand front there.
- 1:26:36His response is, huh? As he's getting shaken out of his rage. Like my response.
- 1:26:43That's my own response. So we've got a counselor meeting.
- 1:26:47We're now, we're done with the beach. We're at the counselor meeting out in front of the main cabin.
- 1:26:52Ronnie's handing out some assignments. It's an off day for a lot of the counselors
- 1:26:55since half these kids are gone.
- 1:26:57Eddie, another IE name, gets the short straw. and he's got to take some young
- 1:27:02boys camping and he's pissed.
- 1:27:05A group of boys, the young boys, who he's got to take out in the middle of nowhere
- 1:27:09to camp, which doesn't seem like very much fun because by the time they get
- 1:27:13out at camp, it's pretty black, so I don't know. We're not making a fire in time.
- 1:27:17We're not actually having any fun. We're just going out in the middle of the
- 1:27:20night and setting up tents. Very odd move.
- 1:27:23Meg wants to sleep with high socks Mel. We had a little bit of foreshadowing in this before.
- 1:27:30She's kind of doing the old hair flip, and then I'm three later.
- 1:27:34Yeah, what a weird matchup. Meg, not the most attractive girl in the world, but what the fuck?
- 1:27:41A lot younger and a lot cuter than Mel. Mel?
- 1:27:44You mean we're after a month? Does Mel have any money? I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:27:48I don't know what's going on there. But they're looking to set up some sort of date situation.
- 1:27:54So Meg, the nasty bitch that she is, goes back to her cabin,
- 1:27:58goes to shower up to get ready for her date.
- 1:28:01And there's a line so she goes to a different cabin she unlocked the key code
- 1:28:07there I don't think I would ever shower in the regular shower if there was open
- 1:28:11cabins because of all the kids that go staying Was there a normal shower?
- 1:28:17Yeah there's a normal shower that everybody's in a line for but no one else
- 1:28:21has the idea to go to the other cabin that's empty?
- 1:28:25I'd be at the empty cabin a little bit Come on man,
- 1:28:28I just wouldn't shower. Well, I guess there's a way about it,
- 1:28:33too. If you went swimming in the pond, you're clean enough. There you go.
- 1:28:38Thank you. Thank you, Allie. Thank you. I'm going to have a swim in the shower.
- 1:28:42It's a lot of fun scum in that pond there.
- 1:28:46That's right. Scum, scum, right up in that tank. Oh, boy. Yucky, yucky. So.
- 1:28:54Meg the asshole Goes to
- 1:28:57the empty cabin To shower
- 1:29:00off The scum from her taint I
- 1:29:03guess apparently is what we're going with As the killer We're going with that
- 1:29:08The killer actors And I thought we were going to see some boob here We've seen
- 1:29:12no boob We've got no frontal nudity on Meg Little Lucy No boobies for her Does
- 1:29:21that make you upset, Bill?
- 1:29:24No, not necessarily. Meg, for all I know, is underage in this movie,
- 1:29:27so maybe we can go ahead and not see it. That does not make you upset.
- 1:29:32It does not, but it's worth noting that horror movies typically...
- 1:29:37There's titty everywhere, typically.
- 1:29:39But regardless, we did not see any poop.
- 1:29:43Don't lose. If Taylor enters, we get a shower stab through the wall scene.
- 1:29:48Fredictable, in my humble opinion. She pushes her body up against the wall and
- 1:29:52she gets a knife through it.
- 1:29:55Later on, you see the wound and it looks rough. I don't know who showers like Meg does either.
- 1:30:01She doesn't know so. She's just like doing this routine where she's kind of
- 1:30:05off. It's through the curtain, right? It's not through the curtain, it's through the wall.
- 1:30:09It's like behind her, the shower wall. A lot of blood.
- 1:30:14And we look at this knife, and it is Mozart's knife that was taken away earlier.
- 1:30:19And the hand still looks similar to the first kill. It looks pretty masculine to me.
- 1:30:25So as we're trying to figure out who this damn killer is, the clues are starting to build up.
- 1:30:30We've got a big knife that presumably, I'm thinking it is Mozart's knife before
- 1:30:35when he got the shaving cream to the face.
- 1:30:38And a masculine boy-type hand.
- 1:30:42So There you have it Meg, moment of silence Can we do a moment of silence for her?
- 1:30:48Let's give her a moment 3, 2, 1 Moment of silence for Meg We have Eddie And
- 1:30:56his camping fiasco Seems like it's just miserable,
- 1:31:00He's got a bunch of kids I'm counting 4 No, there's 5 I'm counting 5 kids,
- 1:31:08He's pissed. There's a hatchet. Clearly the red herring.
- 1:31:12We're showing us the hatchet for later on. He's pissed. He's yelling at these little kids.
- 1:31:16Regardless, they all set up their little camping gear. No one's having fun.
- 1:31:22Ricky pleads with Angela again. He's getting nowhere.
- 1:31:26She kind of stares blankly and then agrees to meet him at the waterfront later. After the social.
- 1:31:35So I guess I shouldn't say he's getting nowhere. He's hidden somewhere.
- 1:31:38She's basically agreeing to meet him later on. But, man, she looks...
- 1:31:43She's looking rough, man. She's clearly had some sort of mental break.
- 1:31:47That balloon hit her. Maybe she's concussed.
- 1:31:50We've found an issue where we're going to meet later. And Judy has to make her
- 1:31:54snide remark as they pass.
- 1:31:57Annie's got the cameras out in the woods. They're already sleeping.
- 1:32:00I don't know what the hell's going on. Why did they immediately go there and just went to bed?
- 1:32:04They made no fire. They're just laying down in some sleeping sacks or some sleeping
- 1:32:09bags. They attempted a fire. It's just...
- 1:32:12I don't know, Ali. It looks like shit. Eddie looks like an asshole,
- 1:32:15and he treats these little kids like assholes, so he's an asshole to boot.
- 1:32:19One of the kids is cold.
- 1:32:21Then the other kid is cold. The fire must have not been so great since everybody's
- 1:32:26freezing their ass off out here.
- 1:32:28And they've decided that they got to go back, and so Eddie's going to drive
- 1:32:32these kids back. and leave the other three kids completely unsupervised.
- 1:32:38What in the world? There's five total kids, two go back, having three, right?
- 1:32:45No, but later on, I think they show...
- 1:32:48Four sleeping bags. This is where the part confuses me of having one,
- 1:32:51two, three, oh, it's his sleeping bag that's what I mean. I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:32:56I know. All I know is, Annie's got to drive the kids back. We have a perspective
- 1:32:59of the murder, potentially with the hatchets.
- 1:33:02And, alright, so these kids are about to get axed. They're about to get it.
- 1:33:08Yeah, it's showing four kids. They're about to get murked. Yeah, but here's the problem.
- 1:33:12Who the fuck leaves kids unsupervised down the middle of nowhere without telling
- 1:33:16them I'm going to drive feels bad.
- 1:33:18I don't know, Allie. You have to take all the kids with you.
- 1:33:22Never leave a kid behind. This is crazy.
- 1:33:25Allie, do you leave kids behind? No, never.
- 1:33:30You don't leave kids in the woods? Why not? I don't leave my kids for a second.
- 1:33:35I don't have any kids. Why are you asking me?
- 1:33:38Yeah, well, just as an adult, Tom, this is bad cool. This is poor form.
- 1:33:44Now he's walking around looking for his little date. this hot Meg that's got
- 1:33:49stabbed in the shower. I can't find her.
- 1:33:51We got gross Judy making out with a dude with the feathered hair.
- 1:33:55Why do you got a kiss so wet? That's what she says. That's her opening line. Wow.
- 1:33:59A lot of saliva. Too much saliva.
- 1:34:02Mel comes by to look for Meg and he discovers we got a little hiding.
- 1:34:07Feather hair needs to get under the bed.
- 1:34:09Judy acts natural. Says she's got no idea where Meg is.
- 1:34:12Potentially, last time I saw her, she was out in that vacant cabin taking a shower.
- 1:34:18So there goes Mel and he says something about you shouldn't,
- 1:34:22again, the old man routine with this guy, go read it in the dark,
- 1:34:26it'll hurt your eyes. What about how kind of line is this?
- 1:34:29They feed him all the old man life. Yeah.
- 1:34:32I have a feeling that Mel didn't even have that line.
- 1:34:35The actor that played Mel didn't have that line. He's just out there giving
- 1:34:39people words of wisdom about deponia and reading the dark.
- 1:34:43So Mel goes to search for Meg. The wet kisser bugs out because Mel came in. So he's all nervous.
- 1:34:52Somebody's leaving unsatisfied. He's got to go. He puts his shoes on, bounces out.
- 1:34:57Judy's apoplectic. She was looking to get some tonight. So she's pissed,
- 1:35:01giving the nastiest, dirtiest look you've ever seen in the world.
- 1:35:04Yeah, that's the worst stare of the movie. Worst than Angela.
- 1:35:07Worst than Angela. just against a, you know, a blue screen of death computer stare.
- 1:35:13She's given stares like, you know, staring at holes. God, those stares. God. You're a wreck.
- 1:35:23All I even see is the white of the eyes. You're right. It's a lot of staring.
- 1:35:29So we got Meg, who's discovered by Mel. Mel and Meg, the romance that never was.
- 1:35:34She's been stabbed right down the back, dissection style.
- 1:35:38It's kind of rough looking. It's gross.
- 1:35:43You know, Mel and Meg. She falls out, too.
- 1:35:47She's not having a dead on the floor. What a dead war. It kind of makes me laugh a little.
- 1:35:52The physics of that, how does that work? So she died standing up.
- 1:35:55She only falls out of the shower as Mel is walking. Moves the fabric.
- 1:36:01I don't know if the physics is working there, but we'll go with it.
- 1:36:07It was by the white of her eyes.
- 1:36:10Forgive me, Meg. Forgive me. Forgive me, Meg.
- 1:36:13Mel is absolutely nuts now. He named Ricky as the person that he wants to get.
- 1:36:20He's going to get the killer.
- 1:36:21He's going to make sure that he avenges her death.
- 1:36:24In the meantime, Judy has a weird, long-haired individual step into her doorway.
- 1:36:33We get a freeze frame of this thing. It looks to me like a male with long hair.
- 1:36:40And I think this is specifically to throw your off.
- 1:36:45I don't know if it's Ricky, the actor that plays Ricky. I don't know if it's
- 1:36:48somebody at third party That a face we don't recognize But Judy's sitting there
- 1:36:53doing some hair curling And this person Clods along into the cabin And,
- 1:36:59And who is this person? We really don't know.
- 1:37:02I guess it's some trickery to get the filmmaker to either confuse us or get
- 1:37:09us off track. What's everybody's thoughts on this?
- 1:37:13So she gets kind of knocked out. She gets punched right across the face.
- 1:37:18Is it a girl move to punch another girl across the face?
- 1:37:22Or is it more of a guy move? the hand
- 1:37:25is looking a little more feminine reaching for her
- 1:37:29curling iron pillow goes over the face so she's got enough strength to hold
- 1:37:34her down whoever this person is and then this part is really confusing to me
- 1:37:41with the hair curler they open it up and all you see is that in the shadow is she getting it in,
- 1:37:49her butt or in her vagina or both I don't know what's happening here.
- 1:37:55I wish I could hear, like, see what you are seeing right now. It's awful.
- 1:38:04And it's one of these things where I guess you're supposed to just leave it
- 1:38:08up to your own imagination. It is brutal to not see it. It almost makes it even worse.
- 1:38:13If she got it in the butt, if she got it in the genitals, whatever,
- 1:38:17I don't know. It is in the butt. It is up.
- 1:38:20Maybe the burn effect. God, I don't know. I don't know either.
- 1:38:25I know that Eddie comes back to the camping area after he dropped off the two
- 1:38:30wussies that couldn't have it in the cold.
- 1:38:32And all these kids are hatching. And I'm thinking I'm looking at four.
- 1:38:36Eddie pukes. He's had enough of it. He's got a row for hell.
- 1:38:40He runs back, leaving the, you know, because he's really responsible for leaving
- 1:38:44these poor souls out here on their own.
- 1:38:47He runs back. Yeah, you got to feel guilty for that one. the moment of silence
- 1:38:51for all four kids or three kids or whatever. We gotta do it.
- 1:38:55Three, six, seven, four, silence, silence.
- 1:38:59Ricky, the pace quickens now of the film. This thing starts to pick up pace quite a bit.
- 1:39:05Ricky's gonna go get some camis since he didn't go to get food, I guess.
- 1:39:10Mel ambushes him and beats the absolute shit out of Ricky who he claims is the
- 1:39:17killer. I got him, Meg. I got him.
- 1:39:19And I mean, guerrilla style, both fists coming down like fists of fury.
- 1:39:24Complete animal kill. It was
- 1:39:27a real deal Holyfield beatdown of an old man taking out all of his fury.
- 1:39:34Headlocked down on the ground, beats the piss out of Ricky.
- 1:39:38Ricky looks dead to me. And Ricky claiming he has no idea what he's talking about.
- 1:39:43Right. And claiming ignorance the entire time, even after getting slapped and
- 1:39:47punched and beaten the hell out of. Thank you.
- 1:39:51Yeah, Ricky, we don't know. We don't know if Ricky's dead or alive,
- 1:39:54but he sure looks dead after the beatdown.
- 1:39:56Ronnie's literally single-handedly running around the entire camp trying to save the day.
- 1:40:00He's telling people to call the cops. We're looking for kids.
- 1:40:03While Mal is beating the hell out of one of his campers, Ronnie's single-handedly
- 1:40:07saving the absolute day.
- 1:40:09After the beatdown, I gotta make this like I promised.
- 1:40:13He stumbles out into an archery range, says some sort of line.
- 1:40:19I don't even know what it was, but he promptly gets an arrow right in the throat.
- 1:40:24What a good archer. Whoever the killer is, gets immediately... He says, it can't be you.
- 1:40:29It can't be. It can't be. And then he gets it right in the throat.
- 1:40:33Hell of a makeup deal, too, there. Good effect.
- 1:40:38Does Mel get a moment of silence?
- 1:40:41Eh, we should give it some. Alright. Let's give it some.
- 1:40:44Do we think some moment of silence is happening? Alright, Mel's dead.
- 1:40:48Moment of silence for the clown. I'm Mr. High Socks.
- 1:40:52The cop has a gigantic flashlight. The same policeman that I pointed out his
- 1:40:56mustache before, now has the fakest painted-on mustache I've ever seen in my life.
- 1:41:03It's comical. This mustache, I have to bring attention to every time I see it
- 1:41:09because it looks absolutely ridiculous.
- 1:41:11It's not even the same hair color anymore. No, much darker. It's not particularly
- 1:41:15different. Somebody just painted it with Sharpie.
- 1:41:17Paul's waiting down by the lakeside as directed by Angela. She shows up looking disheveled.
- 1:41:25Her hair is all polished up. She tells him to strip. We're going in.
- 1:41:31She's finally going to go skinny dipping with Paul. Let's go swimming.
- 1:41:35Let's strip down butt naked and get into the water.
- 1:41:39So, Paul's up for his game. Let's roll.
- 1:41:43And, man... He's,
- 1:41:45She looks rough, actually. Yeah, the hair. I don't know why her hair is so much.
- 1:41:50I don't know if you can tell.
- 1:41:52The cops are searching for missing kids.
- 1:41:55The mustache cop discovers Ricky, or what's left of Ricky.
- 1:42:01He's all beat up and swollen eyes.
- 1:42:03He really looks messed up. In the original script, a little food for thought,
- 1:42:08he died. Can they see him? Josh, Josh.
- 1:42:11Are you? What's up, Tom? Hi. Hello. Hello. What are we waiting for?
- 1:42:18The cop is finding Ricky and finding that he's alive.
- 1:42:22Yeah. In the original script, she died.
- 1:42:26And they changed the original script to kind of force the issue a little bit
- 1:42:30on making people not know for sure who the killer was.
- 1:42:35So, yeah. Ricky, they say he's alive. Maggie's discovered. All the counselors are freaking out.
- 1:42:43Mr. Cop mustache He's got a pretty cool looking face Facial expression Zoom
- 1:42:48in on that mustache Absolutely shocking A terrible So,
- 1:42:56We're about to reach our shocking conclusion Tom are you there.
- 1:43:00Hot later. Okay, cool. Our shocking conclusion.
- 1:43:04We've got Ronnie and Susie coming up on the waterfront beach area.
- 1:43:11Angel is sitting there humming a lullaby of some sort, holding Paul's head.
- 1:43:18We've got a creepy-ass flashback that involves the aunt talking to a poor head-wrapped
- 1:43:25boy that she identifies as Peter.
- 1:43:29And after identifies her as Angela after basically saying that we don't need
- 1:43:35another boy in the house, we need another girl.
- 1:43:39So now we've identified that Peter is the person who survived the boating accident. Angela has died.
- 1:43:47What does this mean for us now? What this means for us now is Angela,
- 1:43:52who we know to be Angela at least,
- 1:43:55stands up, revealing that Paul's decapitated head falls off of her lap,
- 1:44:02stands up revealing that she is the killer.
- 1:44:04She is Paul. I'm sorry. She is the boy.
- 1:44:08The Peter, yeah. She's the Peter dog head.
- 1:44:12She's the killer. And she makes the absolute most sick sound I've ever heard
- 1:44:18with the facial expression of boot.
- 1:44:21This wide-eyed, wide-mouthed growl and snarl.
- 1:44:26The camp counselors are completely shocked. Ronnie's line is, it can't be. She's a boy.
- 1:44:32Yeah, she's a boy. We're seeing full frontal bush. The penis to match holding the same knife.
- 1:44:39Mozart's knife. And this face Burned into my memory Will never Leave As long
- 1:44:48as I live, will never leave There's a lot that goes into this too So,
- 1:44:52Ronnie is shocked The graphic nudity That hiss, the growl Ah.
- 1:45:00Let me play You're not going to hear this sound But let me play this thing real
- 1:45:04quick Angela's reveal Let me just play it.
- 1:45:10Got this oh lord it's a boy,
- 1:45:15yeah she is a boy she is a boy,
- 1:45:19and it is unsettling to my core now there is a body double clearly there's a
- 1:45:26body double for the 13 year old actress who played Angela,
- 1:45:31obviously he's not a boy in real life the actress that body double is uncredited
- 1:45:36in any credits known to us.
- 1:45:39It's a mystery of who that body double is. A lot of people think it might have
- 1:45:42been a local, maybe a film hand on set.
- 1:45:47Felicia Rose is the actress that plays Angela.
- 1:45:51She was unable to be filmed for the scene due to her age.
- 1:45:56So what they did was they made a prosthetic face and they got and they put that
- 1:46:00prosthetic face over the body double.
- 1:46:03So what we're looking at is It's a face that does not quite seem all there.
- 1:46:09It's a hell of a prosthetic, but it gives the impression that simultaneously
- 1:46:14realistic and something that is unsettling to the point where our brains can't
- 1:46:18really fully grasp why it looks that unsettling, because it's frozen in time.
- 1:46:23It's a mask. It's not a person's face doing that.
- 1:46:29The body double remains unknown to this day.
- 1:46:32There's no information on that at all. And that's
- 1:46:35even more kind of interesting The lore of Sleepaway
- 1:46:38Camp Is one that kind of lends
- 1:46:41itself To what the hell was happening With this filming Where they have no information
- 1:46:45at all All this information comes flooding into us all at the same time The
- 1:46:50shocking ending The moment where we find out That the bully was actually turned
- 1:46:54into a girl By this disgusting person known as the Ant Aunt Martha Aunt Martha,
- 1:46:59who's a real piece of shit One of the most shocking That I can remember the
- 1:47:04endings that made me just sit there and just look at each other like, good lord. The.
- 1:47:10Before I get thoughts from everybody, because I'm going to get some thoughts,
- 1:47:13the end music and the sound effects
- 1:47:16of that hiss are something that is definitely an incredible moment.
- 1:47:20And the title sequence for the ending to the movie, as the credit rolls.
- 1:47:25It's a chorus that says, it's called Angela's Song, and the chorus says,
- 1:47:31you're just what I've been looking for.
- 1:47:33I don't think so, dude. That's not what I was looking for. That is a strange
- 1:47:36ending soundtrack number.
- 1:47:39The ending. Thoughts around the horn. Tom, can you give us your thoughts?
- 1:47:45Tom is not there. Afterlife Alley, give us our thoughts on the ending.
- 1:47:50The ending is definitely a shock.
- 1:47:52Real weird surprise ending. You never suspect her to be actually Peter.
- 1:48:00And the movie in general, using a lot younger kids, like we talked about Friday the 13th,
- 1:48:08This has a lot younger kids than it's normally the older camp counselors.
- 1:48:13And this movie kind of breaks the rules with the males being the sex objects.
- 1:48:18Like we talked about, there were no boobs.
- 1:48:20There were no female naked scenes.
- 1:48:23It ends the movie with a penis.
- 1:48:26And the girls are the real monsters in this.
- 1:48:29But Martha, in my opinion, being the number one villain. Oh, she's the main novel.
- 1:48:36Oh, yeah. She created a monster, right? Yeah.
- 1:48:39You can't grow up being treated the opposite sex, living this whole lie,
- 1:48:45the confusion about the A father and what that means for you,
- 1:48:50and then being treated as a girl.
- 1:48:52It's a great movie, and I think it was way ahead of its time.
- 1:48:55Yeah, I think it's ahead of its time, too.
- 1:48:58And I think it lives on in horror movie circles.
- 1:49:03It's got a lore of it. There's a lot of distractions.
- 1:49:06Oh, okay. Good to hear from you, man. I think it moves.
- 1:49:11It kind of lives on in horror movie lore that, you know, it was made in this
- 1:49:17certain way, this B-roll sort of way.
- 1:49:21And it's got that ending that really makes you it's a head scratcher man it's
- 1:49:28a gore fest, it's a slasher it's a camp killer movie for me it gets three and a half pumpkins,
- 1:49:35on my first watch and if you rewatch it it probably,
- 1:49:39gets a little less just based on the fact that the shocker ending is a little
- 1:49:45less but I'll tell you what on my second watch it's a little less than that
- 1:49:48much man it still gets me in the pit of my gut
- 1:49:51I feel like you pick up on more things too So it doesn't get less for me Alright,
- 1:49:55how many pumpkins does it get for you?
- 1:49:57I'll give it a three and a half Three and a half sounds good Tom,
- 1:50:02what's your pumpkin rating?
- 1:50:05Zero. Wow! Whoa! You're way on the opposite end, eh?
- 1:50:11Absolutely. Why a zero? I don't know. Like, just like that.
- 1:50:17I didn't really feel the effect, like, also, like, the whole like, reveal at the end.
- 1:50:28Like, that god, the face, terrible.
- 1:50:32Terrible, but... Terrible in a way that you hated it, or terrible in a way that it scared you?
- 1:50:39Just terrible. Like, it just was awful. Terrible that you hated it.
- 1:50:45Hated it. Wow. I didn't see that coming. Wow.
- 1:50:49We got to definitely, and this is why we do our own movie movies, right?
- 1:50:53For a difference of opinions, we got a diverse group of people here,
- 1:50:57and we all kind of see things a little bit differently. So that's interesting, man.
- 1:51:030.0 pumpkins Tom's review shocks me more than the ending Now I'm shocked Now
- 1:51:08I'm looking around What's staring at me with a penis hanging out Rotten pumpkins,
- 1:51:14Rotten pumpkin oak Rotten pumpkin,
- 1:51:18That's fair man Well we've gone long We've gone almost two hours so I'm going
- 1:51:24to wrap it up Anybody have any final thoughts they want to get off the trip
- 1:51:28Before I wrap this thing up with a bow on it Nope, could've gone.
- 1:51:35Because that was the assignment. And the next week's assignment,
- 1:51:39if you want to know, if you do, if you want to join us for next week,
- 1:51:44our next week's assignment is going to be Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic,
- 1:51:50Psycho.
- 1:51:51It's going to be our, more of a mainstream, iconic type movie.
- 1:51:57Psycho has got everything that you want in a horror movie.
- 1:52:01And I hope you folks at home listening and continue to watch those horror movies from week to week.
- 1:52:11That's your homework assignment. In the meantime, my fellow neighbors,
- 1:52:16you look forward to Halloween just like me for your hoax, afterlife,
- 1:52:21Alan, and Springstone Tom.
- 1:52:23Good luck. I'm Bad Luck Bill. See you on the flip side.
- 1:52:29Can't wait to bear this. Get out of this.
