- Lucas: Ciao, and welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Episode 25 already. Can you believe it? Lucas: I know, time flies. Last time we learned numbers eleven to fifteen. Remember, Luna? Luna: Oh yes! Undici, dodici, tredici, quattordici, quindici. Nailed it. Lucas: Well done. Today, we're going to talk about transport — how to get around in Italian. Luna: Oh, useful! I'm planning a trip to Italy soon. Lucas: Perfect. So let's start with the basics. The word for car is la macchina. Luna: La macchina. Car. Got it. Lucas: Yes. La macchina. Now, what about bus? That's l'autobus. Luna: L'autobus. Like the English 'autobus' but with an Italian accent. Lucas: Exactly. And train is il treno. Luna: Il treno. Like 'train' but trimmer. Lucas: And bike — la bicicletta. Luna: La bicicletta. That's a mouthful. Bee-chee-cle-tah. Lucas: You got it. So let's practice all four: la macchina, l'autobus, il treno, la bicicletta. Luna: La macchina, l'autobus, il treno, la bicicletta. Nice. Lucas: Great. Now let's put them in a sentence. If you want to say 'I take the car,' it's Prendo la macchina. Luna: Prendo la macchina. Prendo means 'I take', right? Lucas: Exactly. So Prendo la macchina. Can you try? Luna: Prendo la macchina. Lucas: Perfect. Now, what if you take the bus? Prendo l'autobus. Luna: Prendo l'autobus. Lucas: Yes. And the train? Prendo il treno. Luna: Prendo il treno. Lucas: And the bike? Prendo la bicicletta. Luna: Prendo la bicicletta. Oof, that's a lot of syllables. Lucas: But you said it well. Now imagine this: you're in Rome. You want to visit the Colosseum. How do you go? Prendo l'autobus? Luna: Uhh... Prendo l'autobus. Or maybe the metro? Lucas: We haven't covered metro yet. That's for another episode. But for now, let's practice a little scene. You're at the train station. You say to yourself: 'I take the train.' Come si dice? Luna: Prendo il treno. Lucas: Yes. And your friend asks: 'And you, Luca, what do you take?' You say: 'I take the car.' Luna: Prendo la macchina. Lucas: Good. Now, let's review all four words once more: la macchina, l'autobus, il treno, la bicicletta. Luna: La macchina, l'autobus, il treno, la bicicletta. I think I've got them. Lucas: You do. And remember, you can use them with Prendo. So Prendo la macchina, Prendo l'autobus, Prendo il treno, Prendo la bicicletta. Luna: Prendo la macchina, Prendo l'autobus, Prendo il treno, Prendo la bicicletta. Lucas: Excellent. That's our episode for today. Practice these phrases and you'll be ready to navigate Italy like a local. Luna: Grazie, Lucas! I'll practice while I plan my trip. Lucas: Prego! And thank you for joining us on Fexingo. Keep practicing and we'll see you next time. Ciao! Luna: Ciao!
