- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for back to the basics in healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Balanced Life Chiropractic, and we have doctor Harley with us.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Hello, doctor Harley, Hey John, Happy first day of October.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Yeah, we're cruising right through the year and next thing,
- 0:10Speaker 1: you know, it's going to be like Christmas and we're
- 0:12Speaker 1: not ready for that. But this time of year, and
- 0:14Speaker 1: it was weird. We start the week with like ninety
- 0:16Speaker 1: degree days. So this is that time of year where
- 0:18Speaker 1: we're going through some transitions and that kind of messes
- 0:20Speaker 1: with some allergies, doesn't it.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Right. We've kind of talked about that a little bit
- 0:23Speaker 2: off and on last week we were talking about, you know,
- 0:25Speaker 2: just kind of the fall weather change. While you might
- 0:28Speaker 2: be feel a little more crumby. But this week, especially
- 0:31Speaker 2: in the last couple of weeks, have been really bad
- 0:33Speaker 2: for sinus problems.
- 0:34Speaker 1: And my wife was having some sinus issues and Doctor
- 0:37Speaker 1: Harley punched her in the face a bunch of times,
- 0:38Speaker 1: which that helped a lot, didn't.
- 0:40Speaker 2: It Before you go running to the board. No, it's
- 0:43Speaker 2: a good way, right, And I didn't physically actually hit
- 0:46Speaker 2: my patient.
- 0:47Speaker 1: No, no, no, it's a little little thing that you do.
- 0:49Speaker 2: What is that called? Yeah, so I could use the
- 0:52Speaker 2: integrator We've talked about that guy, but I actually use
- 0:54Speaker 2: an activator because it's a little lower force versus you know,
- 0:57Speaker 2: the full on force of like that integrator that I use.
- 1:00Speaker 2: So really what I'm doing is helping your sinuses to drain,
- 1:03Speaker 2: and that is the big thing we need right now.
- 1:06Speaker 1: And you focus in on a very specific place and
- 1:09Speaker 1: you kind of do that in a few because she
- 1:10Speaker 1: punched me in the face too, But it feels really
- 1:13Speaker 1: good actually, and I already feel like pressure really does
- 1:15Speaker 1: that normal?
- 1:16Speaker 2: Yeah, So that's the really the biggest thing is our sinuses.
- 1:19Speaker 2: So we have the one. We have one that's called
- 1:21Speaker 2: our maxillary sinus that hangs out right underneath our cheekbones,
- 1:24Speaker 2: and then we have the one that's kind of between
- 1:25Speaker 2: the brow of our forehead that's our frontal sinus. And
- 1:28Speaker 2: really what they are their big cavernous spaces in our skull.
- 1:32Speaker 2: And the biggest thing with those is like it helps
- 1:34Speaker 2: to lighten how heavy our heads are. But those cavernous
- 1:38Speaker 2: spaces can get filled with phlim and mucus and you know,
- 1:42Speaker 2: running nosed drainage all that fun stuff, and that's where
- 1:46Speaker 2: you might start feeling like, oh my face just feels full,
- 1:49Speaker 2: I have a lot of pressure between my eyes or
- 1:51Speaker 2: my teeth start hurting. Yeah, that's kind of some indications
- 1:55Speaker 2: that your sinuses are kind of holding on to some
- 1:57Speaker 2: of that run off the fluid that's hanging out in there,
- 2:00Speaker 2: and so by doing that adjustment, it's gonna help break
- 2:02Speaker 2: up the pressure, and that's gonna help them to drain better.
- 2:05Speaker 2: And where does that drain from from the sinuses.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Like out of your nose or I mean it'll.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Kind of actually more run down the back of your throat,
- 2:13Speaker 2: which sounds.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I shouldn't have asked. I just wondered if I was
- 2:18Speaker 1: gonna have to blow my nose.
- 2:18Speaker 2: A lot to that. Well, if they're draining better, no,
- 2:21Speaker 2: you it shouldn't make you feel like you're having to
- 2:24Speaker 2: blow your nose all the time. I know it sounds awful.
- 2:25Speaker 2: It's a good problem. I tell patients that it's like,
- 2:28Speaker 2: when this releases, it's gonna be gross, but you're gonna
- 2:31Speaker 2: kind of feel like a giant snot while I go
- 2:33Speaker 2: down the back of your throat.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Well I do. I feel like I can breathe better already,
- 2:36Speaker 1: which I think is a good thing.
- 2:37Speaker 2: So that's the you know, pros and cons of the thing. Right,
- 2:41Speaker 2: we're help when you breathe better, but you might have
- 2:43Speaker 2: to go through that, so not so yummy.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I'm going to try to avoid that if I can.
- 2:47Speaker 1: But if somebody else is listening right now and they're like, man,
- 2:50Speaker 1: I've had that issue. And this is kind of a
- 2:52Speaker 1: seasonal thing. It happens for different reasons at different times
- 2:55Speaker 1: of the year, doesn't.
- 2:55Speaker 2: It, right, Yeah, it's kind of spring. Springtime is really
- 2:59Speaker 2: popular for it, and summer's not so bad, and then
- 3:02Speaker 2: we get into fall with the harvest and the dryness
- 3:05Speaker 2: and all that starts kind of cropping up again. But
- 3:07Speaker 2: I've had patience since we started doing it, since they
- 3:09Speaker 2: started seeing us that they noticed they don't get sinus infections. Yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 2: they used to get multiple throughout the seasons, and like,
- 3:16Speaker 2: I haven't had a single one, And like that's huge
- 3:19Speaker 2: because your sinuses are draining, so that stuff that gets
- 3:23Speaker 2: stuck in there, it's not getting infected and festering and
- 3:26Speaker 2: getting gross. It's actually draining out and clearing like it's
- 3:28Speaker 2: supposed to. Well.
- 3:29Speaker 1: And this maybe is a dumb example, but when you
- 3:32Speaker 1: think about gutters on your house, you know, if they're
- 3:34Speaker 1: clogged with leaves and they don't, you're gonna have issues.
- 3:36Speaker 1: But if you keep them clogged free, then you don't
- 3:38Speaker 1: have those issues. And it's kind of the same type
- 3:40Speaker 1: of thing.
- 3:40Speaker 2: No, it's a really good way of looking at it. Yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 1: So it's like, again, if this is something that you
- 3:46Speaker 1: deal with every single year, I encourage you to come
- 3:49Speaker 1: in and let doctor Harley punch you in the face
- 3:52Speaker 1: in the nicest possible way. I know it sounds silly
- 3:55Speaker 1: to say that, but at the end of the day,
- 3:56Speaker 1: you know it works really well, and this is something
- 3:59Speaker 1: that but again I know I can I can feel
- 4:02Speaker 1: the difference already.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome. So again, disclaimer, I'm not actually hating
- 4:06Speaker 2: you in the face. Oh I know.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I think they know. I'm just being selling. But if
- 4:10Speaker 1: somebody does struggle with sinuses, or they struggle with allergy issues,
- 4:13Speaker 1: or maybe just back pain or they're having headaches, they
- 4:15Speaker 1: don't quite understand what's going on, If they would like
- 4:17Speaker 1: some help with that and would like to try chiropractic,
- 4:19Speaker 1: how do they get in touch.
- 4:20Speaker 2: With you as simple as getting a new patient appointment schedules.
