Latest / THE DAILY BRIEF / Israeli hostages prepare for release
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We're looking forward tomorrow's historic moment when all Israeli hostages
- 0:04Speaker 1: are set to be released, including the twenty that we
- 0:06Speaker 1: pray are still alive. Joining us now is Israeli Ambassador
- 0:09Speaker 1: to the United Nations, Danny Jannan, Ambassador, Thank you so
- 0:13Speaker 1: much for joining us, Thank you for having me joing
- 0:15Speaker 1: you know the interview. We just have a tray very optimistic.
- 0:18Speaker 1: If we wake up tomorrow morning here in the States
- 0:21Speaker 1: or Tuesday morning and those hostages have been returned and
- 0:24Speaker 1: accounted for, what's the next problem on the horizon, what's
- 0:28Speaker 1: the next goal for Israel, and what's the next worry?
- 0:31Speaker 1: To move this forward?
- 0:32Speaker 2: First, jo everyone in needually holding their breath, praying for
- 0:35Speaker 2: the reality of the hostages. Eight hours from now, you
- 0:38Speaker 2: should expect them to come home to unite with their families.
- 0:41Speaker 2: It's a miracle two years after to get them out
- 0:44Speaker 2: of the dungeons of Hamas. So we are grateful for
- 0:46Speaker 2: put On Twamp and for prim Milton Nathanao, for the leadership,
- 0:49Speaker 2: and for the soldiers who sacrificed so much to bring
- 0:52Speaker 2: us to this moment. But that is the easy path
- 0:55Speaker 2: of the agreement, because it's in exchange you know, we
- 0:57Speaker 2: release terrorists, and by the way, look at the difference.
- 1:00Speaker 2: We will celebrate citizens over kidnapped coming home. They will
- 1:04Speaker 2: celebrate terrorists who murdered innocent people getting out of jail.
- 1:09Speaker 3: So you cannot make the equation.
- 1:11Speaker 2: But after that, that's the difficult part, because the second
- 1:14Speaker 2: phase require the disarmament of Hamas.
- 1:18Speaker 3: They should give their weapons.
- 1:19Speaker 2: They should stop with everything they did for the last
- 1:21Speaker 2: twenty years, and it's going to be much harder to
- 1:24Speaker 2: implement it.
- 1:25Speaker 3: And that's why we stayed in Gaza.
- 1:28Speaker 2: We redow our forces to a certain point, not completely,
- 1:32Speaker 2: because we have to wait and will be very careful
- 1:34Speaker 2: and cautious to see that they're actually implementing the second phase.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Ambassador, thank you so much for being here. I'm just
- 1:40Speaker 4: wondering your sense of phase two and how much trust
- 1:44Speaker 4: Israel has in Hamas. Again, we're dealing with a terrorist organization.
- 1:49Speaker 4: There's reports of how they're already possibly positioning themselves to
- 1:53Speaker 4: be Hamas under a new name and regain control. What
- 1:56Speaker 4: does that look like If they don't disarm, if they
- 1:59Speaker 4: don't give up control, if the Palestinian people are not
- 2:01Speaker 4: allowed to move forward with new leadership, what does that
- 2:04Speaker 4: look like, well, we have the wa trust with them,
- 2:07Speaker 4: you know, after October seventh, we know with whom we
- 2:09Speaker 4: are dealing.
- 2:10Speaker 2: We trust ourselves, which trust our soldiers. But we expect
- 2:14Speaker 2: the international community to look at reality and understand that
- 2:18Speaker 2: it's not enough to declare. You have to follow through
- 2:21Speaker 2: and it's not about the reconstruction of the building in Gaza.
- 2:24Speaker 2: The international community may have to make sure that they
- 2:26Speaker 2: take out the radical elements from the Palestinian in Gada,
- 2:29Speaker 2: not allowing the Vedicals to take over. You know, twenty
- 2:32Speaker 2: years ago we pulled out from Gaza completely. We gave
- 2:34Speaker 2: the keys to the Palestinian we build your own future.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Hamas took over and since then they are there. So
- 2:42Speaker 2: I think the challenge is to see that the money
- 2:44Speaker 2: that comes in now is conditioned in the fact that
- 2:48Speaker 2: Hamas is not part of the game anymore.
- 2:50Speaker 5: Yeah, Investador, Obviously the biggest questions are the disarmament and
- 2:55Speaker 5: the future governance of the Phase two. But because we
- 2:59Speaker 5: have you here, the Ambassador to the United Nations.
- 3:02Speaker 3: I wanted to.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Get your reaction to it.
- 3:06Speaker 3: What do we to think?
- 3:07Speaker 5: Because we just had the UN General Assembly here in
- 3:10Speaker 5: New York and a number you're talking about the international partners.
- 3:14Speaker 5: A number of international delegations got up and walked out
- 3:18Speaker 5: of Prime Minister Nanyahu's speech, and now partnering with President Trump,
- 3:23Speaker 5: who led and.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Got this done.
- 3:25Speaker 5: I would argue no other world leader could have gotten
- 3:27Speaker 5: this done. We were about to witness history.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Absolutely, And you can make the distinction between leadership like
- 3:34Speaker 2: Preteran Trump approved and people who came to make a
- 3:36Speaker 2: show like Macon came to the UN made declarations and
- 3:40Speaker 2: went back to France or the Tec what the were
- 3:43Speaker 2: General of the United Nations. It is flying, by the
- 3:45Speaker 2: way to meet Preteran Trump in Egypt, but he wasn't. Therefore,
- 3:49Speaker 2: the two youth you know, he never visited Dizbel, He
- 3:52Speaker 2: never took any reactions to.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Bring back the hostages.
- 3:55Speaker 2: So I think we thought the difference between real leadership,
- 3:58Speaker 2: real diplomacy, and the show off of the UN. And
- 4:01Speaker 2: I told my carec that the UN, regardless of all
- 4:04Speaker 2: the declarations you are passing here, the war will not
- 4:06Speaker 2: end with the hostages in Gaza. And they try to
- 4:09Speaker 2: put persia on us in sanctions and I tholated us,
- 4:12Speaker 2: but we stayed strong, and hopefully we are seeing that
- 4:14Speaker 2: we are having a closure now by the hostages.
- 4:17Speaker 3: First they come home, Ambassador.
- 4:20Speaker 6: My heart is in my throat for you, for everyone,
- 4:23Speaker 6: for all of the families waiting for these hostages to
- 4:26Speaker 6: come home, some very powerful and hopefully joyous hours to come.
- 4:30Speaker 6: And then after that the president heads for Egypt. We
- 4:33Speaker 6: spoke a little bit about this with Trey, about the
- 4:36Speaker 6: leadership that he's pulled together the country's Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Cutter,
- 4:40Speaker 6: the UAE, as well as European nations all gathering together
- 4:43Speaker 6: with a focus on what comes next in Gaza, even
- 4:46Speaker 6: as we recognize the factions there on the ground in Gaza,
- 4:50Speaker 6: I mean, have been known for civil war as well
- 4:53Speaker 6: as coming after Israel in the past.
- 4:56Speaker 2: I think it's very important what the president is doing
- 4:58Speaker 2: because it's not enough to decline that they work is over.
- 5:01Speaker 2: You have to rebuild something in Gaza. And the involvement
- 5:04Speaker 2: of moderate Arab countries it's crucial because you need someone
- 5:07Speaker 2: who speaks the language, understand their mentality. And I think
- 5:10Speaker 2: the involvement of Egypt, the UAE and many other Muslim
- 5:14Speaker 2: countries that share the same ideas with Israel, it's crucial
- 5:17Speaker 2: for the success of the Second phase. You need someone
- 5:20Speaker 2: to be there and make sure that Tramas is not
- 5:22Speaker 2: to rebuilding their capabilities because as they said earlier, we
- 5:25Speaker 2: don't trust them. They want to stay there, they want
- 5:27Speaker 2: to regain power, and God forbid to put a threat
- 5:31Speaker 2: against Israel again.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I just want to.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Follow up on that you talked about moderate Arab countries,
- 5:37Speaker 1: moderate Muslim countries. I mean, Qatar apparently played a big
- 5:40Speaker 1: role in this, but they call the hostages detainees. So
- 5:44Speaker 1: how much of this is playing the game of publicity
- 5:49Speaker 1: and not I guess pissing off from us more, And
- 5:52Speaker 1: how much of it is what they truly believe? I mean,
- 5:54Speaker 1: when you have these meetings, and I know you can't
- 5:55Speaker 1: say everything, but when you have these leadings with leaders
- 5:58Speaker 1: from these countries that seem to almost play both sides
- 6:00Speaker 1: of it, how genuine are they in a world where
- 6:03Speaker 1: they accept Israel as their neighbor.
- 6:05Speaker 3: They should be stronger and braver.
- 6:07Speaker 2: They know the truths they have to face verdical Islam
- 6:10Speaker 2: in their own countries and in the region. Yes, but
- 6:12Speaker 2: they're not doing it publicly, and I think they should.
- 6:15Speaker 2: They should tell their people what we saw in October
- 6:18Speaker 2: seventh was not parut of Islam. You know, the barbarism,
- 6:21Speaker 2: that's what it is, and I think they should stop
- 6:23Speaker 2: playing that game.
- 6:24Speaker 3: We have seen it.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Some countries stood with Israel and we are grateful for that.
- 6:28Speaker 2: The Abrahama codes, the country which signed with us stick
- 6:32Speaker 2: to that codes during the war, and it shows that
- 6:35Speaker 2: we have a strong bond with those countries. But the
- 6:37Speaker 2: country you mentioned, they have to make a choice either
- 6:40Speaker 2: they support the verticals or they want to be parted
- 6:43Speaker 2: for peace.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Well, I think I speak for the panel and say
- 6:46Speaker 1: we all pray we wake up tomorrow morning and those
- 6:48Speaker 1: sausages are back and as many as possible or alive
- 6:51Speaker 1: and healthy. I mean, thank you, ambastadayd No, thank you
- 6:54Speaker 1: so much, thank you very much, thanks so much.
