- 0:39Speaker 1: Hey, welcome in to the Thursday edition of The Big Show.
- 0:43Speaker 1: We have got a lot of stuff to get to today.
- 0:46Speaker 1: This portion of the program roanch you by Central Texas
- 0:50Speaker 1: Sports Medicine. Coming up, We're going to preview the Aggies
- 0:56Speaker 1: start at the SEC tournament in Hoover. We've got a
- 0:59Speaker 1: high school report. We're going to preview the women's Golf
- 1:05Speaker 1: in Cuba Championships in Carlsbad, just north of San Diego
- 1:12Speaker 1: intern Raleigh Dorsey has that we have got the Clark
- 1:15Speaker 1: Eisenhower Outdoor Edition, a terrific book by Matt Sapidski, combining
- 1:24Speaker 1: fly fishing and eating all over the world. So yeah,
- 1:29Speaker 1: it's as good as it sounds. Animals attacking and more
- 1:34Speaker 1: so we've got that going for us, which is nice.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Rain forecast tonight in Hoover, which could play havoc with
- 1:43Speaker 1: the schedule. Florida and Alabama are supposed to play the
- 1:47Speaker 1: late game. Georgie and Mississippi underway tomorrow. Texas and Arkansas
- 1:55Speaker 1: schedule to play in A and M and Auburn tomorrow
- 1:59Speaker 1: night scheduled to play, and we'll see how the weather
- 2:05Speaker 1: affects that. If it does and works works out. The
- 2:09Speaker 1: Rangers off today after coming from behind with two runs
- 2:14Speaker 1: in the ninth yesterday in Denver to beat the Rockies
- 2:17Speaker 1: five to four. Josh Young with the go ahead RBI single,
- 2:21Speaker 1: back to back home runs by Ezekiel Durant Jake Berger
- 2:27Speaker 1: and the Rangers win five to four to take that series.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Jacob Latz a little over two innings of work gets
- 2:36Speaker 1: the win out of the bullpen. The Astros are off
- 2:43Speaker 1: today as well. They need it. They got beat by
- 2:47Speaker 1: the Twinkies four to one yesterday Victor Kartini with the
- 2:54Speaker 1: home run, Ryan Kriidler with the home run, and the
- 3:00Speaker 1: Stros continue to struggle eleven games under five hundred. In
- 3:07Speaker 1: case you missed it, last night showy Otani first place
- 3:14Speaker 1: on the line. Five scoreless innings. His era is zero
- 3:21Speaker 1: point seven to three. That's the sixth lowest through eight
- 3:24Speaker 1: starts since nineteen twenty. By the way, first pitch of
- 3:31Speaker 1: the game, he had a home run. Second time in
- 3:35Speaker 1: MLB history a starting pitcher hit a leadoff home run.
- 3:43Speaker 1: The other time Game four last year at LCS, Otani
- 3:49Speaker 1: the seventh time, including postseason, Otani has homered in a
- 3:54Speaker 1: game where he also posted a scoreless start. Bob Gibson
- 4:02Speaker 1: had done it because he was a pretty good hitter.
- 4:07Speaker 1: But you need to pay attention. I know it's a
- 4:12Speaker 1: West Coast. I didn't know this either until I read
- 4:14Speaker 1: about this this morning. But my gosh, at eer of zero.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Remember when he wasn't hitting, he was in a slump,
- 4:23Speaker 1: but he hasn't quit pitching. Zero point seventy three earn
- 4:28Speaker 1: run average, leadoff home run pretty good. There's this LSU
- 4:34Speaker 1: can't not make headlines. Will Wade did it? Now? Ed
- 4:41Speaker 1: Orgerod has finalized a deal to be part of Lane
- 4:45Speaker 1: Kiffin's coaching staff. The former head coach who led the
- 4:50Speaker 1: Tigers to the national title in twenty nineteen, reunites with Kiffen,
- 4:56Speaker 1: his longtime friend and colleague. He worked with him at
- 4:59Speaker 1: US and at Tennessee. Ogeron's role will be special assistant
- 5:05Speaker 1: to recruiting and defense. Recent changes and recruiting rules will
- 5:12Speaker 1: allow Orgeron to go out on the road and given
- 5:21Speaker 1: at the number one class of recruits and transfers in
- 5:24Speaker 1: his first year. And now ed O is there and
- 5:29Speaker 1: he can legally buy guys. Now that's the scary part.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Edo has always been able to recruit. I don't know
- 5:36Speaker 1: how they understand him. I'll be honest with you. I
- 5:39Speaker 1: don't know how parents understand, but he speaks their language
- 5:42Speaker 1: in Louisiana. They do understand him in Louisiana. Speaking of
- 5:48Speaker 1: the SEC, there's this. Eagles linebacker Nolan Smith was arrested
- 5:54Speaker 1: this past Friday. He accused of speeding and reckless driving
- 5:57Speaker 1: in Georgia. What is it about Georgia football players? His
- 6:04Speaker 1: teammate Jalen Carter was given twelve months probation and one
- 6:08Speaker 1: thousand dollars five after pleading no contest of misdemeanor charges
- 6:12Speaker 1: of reckless driving and racing that killed Georgia offensive lineman
- 6:17Speaker 1: Devin Willock and recruiting stafford Chandler Lacroix in twenty twenty three,
- 6:22Speaker 1: and there have been numerous arrests for speeding for Georgia
- 6:27Speaker 1: football players. Smith was clocked going one hundred and thirty
- 6:32Speaker 1: five miles per hour in a seventy mile per hour zone.
- 6:39Speaker 1: He bonded out was released an hour after he was booked.
- 6:42Speaker 1: A court date set for July fourteenth. I don't know,
- 6:54Speaker 1: it's just I don't know why it's endemic in Georgia,
- 6:58Speaker 1: and with Georgia football player. I mean, people are dead'
- 7:03Speaker 1: that's some serious stuff. And going one hundred and thirty
- 7:05Speaker 1: five miles per hour, that's crazy. It wasn't two am
- 7:10Speaker 1: in the morning where there was no one on the road.
- 7:12Speaker 1: It was ten forty one in the evening apparently. And
- 7:16Speaker 1: I don't know exactly where this. I don't know where
- 7:21Speaker 1: Twigs County is in Georgia. I don't care if there's
- 7:26Speaker 1: anybody on the road, you can't go one hundred and
- 7:27Speaker 1: thirty five in a seventy, but I guess you can
- 7:30Speaker 1: if you're in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Georgia men's basketball
- 7:35Speaker 1: program got a ten million dollar check from alum. Adam Wexler,
- 7:43Speaker 1: founder of one of the nation's largest daily fantasy sports companies,
- 7:48Speaker 1: Prize Picks, says it's always been his favorite sport college basketball.
- 7:53Speaker 1: The largest commitment by a single donor in Georgia athletics history. Interesting.
- 8:01Speaker 1: It goes to the basketball program. It will support personnel
- 8:05Speaker 1: and operating expenses. Wexler said his father's ties to the
- 8:12Speaker 1: university as a former football player track athlete fueled his
- 8:15Speaker 1: passion for the Bulldogs. Wow ten million to the basketball program.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Speaking of college basketball, We've got a big event being proposed.
- 8:33Speaker 1: It's in the planning stages, an eight team event called
- 8:37Speaker 1: the Diamond Cup in twenty seven to twenty eight. Diamond
- 8:42Speaker 1: Cup will be laden with blue but bloods Arizona, Connecticut, Gonzaga, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan,
- 8:53Speaker 1: North Carolina. Seven of those schools have been in talks
- 8:57Speaker 1: with the Diamond Cup since last summer. Duke bowed out
- 9:01Speaker 1: earlier in the spring because of a three game contract
- 9:05Speaker 1: with Amazon Prime Video which starts later this year. May
- 9:13Speaker 1: have to pay to see it. You're gonna have to
- 9:15Speaker 1: pay to see a lot of college sports from here
- 9:17Speaker 1: on out. We've talked about that, and I'm just telling you.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Hockey tonight, Game one Eastern Conference Finals, Montreal Carolina. It
- 9:31Speaker 1: will have been eleven days since Carolina played a hockey
- 9:36Speaker 1: almost two weeks actually since Carolina played. Last night, Las Vegas,
- 9:44Speaker 1: the Vegas Golden Knights VGK beat Colorado in Denver four
- 9:52Speaker 1: to two. Knights had a three to zero lead in
- 9:56Speaker 1: the third period, the Avalanche scored two goals made it
- 10:01Speaker 1: very close three to two. The second goal came with
- 10:07Speaker 1: the pulled goalie, but the Golden Knights with an empty
- 10:14Speaker 1: netter with about forty seconds to play four to two.
- 10:19Speaker 1: They win Game one, get home ice. Cale mccarr did
- 10:22Speaker 1: not play in that game for Colorado, so that Game
- 10:28Speaker 1: two will be tomorrow night. Back back in Denver. They're
- 10:34Speaker 1: playing the Byron Nelson at Craig Ranch in McKinney. Twenty
- 10:40Speaker 1: five million dollar upgrade for that course. Players seem to
- 10:44Speaker 1: like it. The scores are low Keepka minus eight, Emiliano
- 10:49Speaker 1: Grilow minus seven, Michael Fiorbornson minus seven, Doug Gimm minus six,
- 10:56Speaker 1: Seawou Kim minus six, Clark minus six, lots of low scores.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Scotty was on the course at minus four. Ryan Palmer,
- 11:07Speaker 1: the former aggie who gets by on exemptions. Right now,
- 11:12Speaker 1: Jordan Speath teeing off this with the afternoon group. There
- 11:20Speaker 1: is talk that with the revamped PGA and how many
- 11:26Speaker 1: events are going to be played, is the Barron Nelson
- 11:29Speaker 1: going to be left out? At one time one of
- 11:32Speaker 1: the great stops on tour for all the players Byron Nelson,
- 11:39Speaker 1: of course, the stories are legendary, personally picking up Tiger
- 11:43Speaker 1: Woods at the airport and Tiger played each year that
- 11:49Speaker 1: Byron Nelson was host. The year after he died, Tiger
- 11:53Speaker 1: quit playing, as did a lot of the other golfers.
- 11:58Speaker 1: They have changed courses a couple of times. Used to
- 12:04Speaker 1: and I don't know what it is now, but you
- 12:05Speaker 1: used to the Salesmanship Club who hosted Gabe that this
- 12:11Speaker 1: tournament generated more for charity than any other tournament on tour.
- 12:16Speaker 1: And it may be in danger of not being a
- 12:22Speaker 1: PGA Tour event anymore. We will see, but that would
- 12:26Speaker 1: be be a shame I've said many times I saw
- 12:32Speaker 1: Nicholas and Palmer play thirty six holes together on a
- 12:38Speaker 1: Sunday because of rain, and it always rains at the
- 12:42Speaker 1: Byron Nelson. But I mean a lot of history, a
- 12:48Speaker 1: lot of history with that tournament. Hate to see it
- 12:53Speaker 1: go away. And there's this hot dog eating champion. Joey
- 12:58Speaker 1: Chestnut will be part of the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating
- 13:03Speaker 1: Contests July fourth, under probation after recently pleading guilty to
- 13:11Speaker 1: misdemeanor battery over a bar altercation. Rich Shay, who's with
- 13:16Speaker 1: us every year co founder and president Major League Eating,
- 13:20Speaker 1: said in a statement the incident did not violate ML's
- 13:24Speaker 1: code of conduct and he is eligible to have been
- 13:27Speaker 1: the crown. There wouldn't be a hot dog eating contest
- 13:29Speaker 1: without Joey, Mario Masslemini, chestnuts attorney telling the Associated Press
- 13:37Speaker 1: it truly was just a misunderstanding. Joey understood he wanted
- 13:43Speaker 1: to accept responsibility for his actions, and he did. He's
- 13:48Speaker 1: won seventeen times. He is accused of striking a man
- 13:54Speaker 1: at a bar in Indiana in March, leading to the charges.
- 13:59Speaker 1: He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery last month, sentenced to
- 14:04Speaker 1: one hundred and eighty days probation. The man who was
- 14:09Speaker 1: struck says he exchanged a handshake with Joey before he
- 14:13Speaker 1: was struck on the left side of his face. Per
- 14:15Speaker 1: the Affidavid Chestnut told law enforcement the following day jury
- 14:20Speaker 1: questioning he was quote pretty drunk and didn't remember. He says,
- 14:26Speaker 1: after watching the incident on video, his slap quote look
- 14:30Speaker 1: like a joke and he didn't realize it was going
- 14:33Speaker 1: to be reported. Law enforcements review of the tape says
- 14:39Speaker 1: the accused pulled the victim forward, moves closer, uses his
- 14:44Speaker 1: right hand to strike the victim in the face with
- 14:48Speaker 1: an open hand. The victim is observed reacting and moving
- 14:53Speaker 1: his head downward and holding it there while the accused
- 14:55Speaker 1: stands over him and his friend. Chestnut moves towards the
- 15:00Speaker 1: victim again, and the victim moves away from the accused. Joey, Joey, Joey,
- 15:09Speaker 1: stick to the hot dogs, put the beer down. I mean,
- 15:15Speaker 1: we know Joey can eat seventy hot dogs right in
- 15:19Speaker 1: ten minutes or whatever it is. You don't want to
- 15:22Speaker 1: be drinking seventy beers in ten minutes, so I hope
- 15:28Speaker 1: Joey's sobered up. I hope he's ready to go July fourth.
- 15:33Speaker 1: I have no doubt we will have Rich Shay on
- 15:35Speaker 1: the show the last week of June, right before the
- 15:39Speaker 1: fourth of July hot dog eating contest. I have been,
- 15:43Speaker 1: as you well know, a judge in that contest. I
- 15:47Speaker 1: have judged Joey Chestnut eating hot dogs. So maybe we'll
- 15:55Speaker 1: get Joey on. Get his explanation.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Right.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going to take a break. We're going to
- 16:04Speaker 1: come back to something completely different. We're going to talk
- 16:06Speaker 1: a little Aggie baseball after this.
- 16:09Speaker 4: For en Co Insurance, Enco Insurance is now a part
- 16:14Speaker 4: of Hub International, bringing you more choices, better value, and

- 16:29Speaker 4: most with the personalized service you expect now with the
- 16:32Speaker 4: strength of Hub International behind us, more resources, more solutions,

- 16:40Speaker 4: So you're ready for tomorrow.
- 16:41Speaker 5: If you miss TECHSACS Live, you missed now.
- 16:44Speaker 6: So we want to go to twenty four I don't know,
- 16:46Speaker 6: you know, and I've said this about twenty fourteen playoff.
- 16:48Speaker 6: I think it should be special for you to go
- 16:50Speaker 6: to a tournament or a playoff. That's why I hate
- 16:53Speaker 6: seventy six teams in basketball, and then that's why I
- 16:55Speaker 6: don't really care for twenty four teams in football. I
- 16:58Speaker 6: think sixteen is stretching it. I like twelve because I
- 17:01Speaker 6: feel like you should be rewarded for being one of
- 17:03Speaker 6: the great teams in college football for the regular season.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Texas Live brought to you by David Garner's Jewelers hang
- 17:10Speaker 5: Out weekdays from eight to eleven on the Zone.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Thursday edition. Happy to have you
- 17:34Speaker 1: with us. Don't forget tomorrow Tomorrow Caleb is filling in
- 17:40Speaker 1: for Ryan. Who's filling in for me? But my weekly
- 17:44Speaker 1: visit with Kirk Bowles the Houston Chronicle on the show tomorrow,
- 17:48Speaker 1: The Writer's Roundtable Monday, and supermodel Kim Alexis joins me
- 17:55Speaker 1: on the program on Monday. Coming up, the Clark Eisenhower Outdoor. Addition,
- 18:02Speaker 1: we've got a high school report and we have a
- 18:06Speaker 1: preview of the A and M Women's Golf National tournament
- 18:12Speaker 1: in Carlsbad, just north of San Diego, within turn Riley, Dorsey.
- 18:19Speaker 1: So that is coming up here in this hour right now.
- 18:24Speaker 1: We want to get you ready a little bit for
- 18:27Speaker 1: Aggie baseball tomorrow evening. A and M scheduled to play.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Auburn beat LSU last night, and an M and Auburn
- 18:42Speaker 1: play scheduled at seven o'clock. Doubtful it'll be seven o'clock.
- 18:47Speaker 1: That will be after the Texas Arkansas game, but it'll
- 18:52Speaker 1: be sometime tomorrow night. The Aggies in after the double
- 18:57Speaker 1: by into the quarterfinals in who take on Auburn, a
- 19:02Speaker 1: team that beat them two out of three earlier. And
- 19:05Speaker 1: we want to hear from head coach Mike Early.
- 19:12Speaker 3: You maneuver a few times, so what makes this event
- 19:15Speaker 3: so special? And also what does it take to when
- 19:18Speaker 3: they're open the past and now in the single elimination formatbers.
- 19:21Speaker 7: Like time, it's just a really cool event. It's really
- 19:24Speaker 7: like it's like a kind of mini version of Omaha.
- 19:26Speaker 7: You get the police as score and they do it.
- 19:28Speaker 8: They still a really nice job of how they take
- 19:30Speaker 8: care of the teams in the hotel to why you're
- 19:34Speaker 8: at the field, like.
- 19:34Speaker 7: It's just a I mean it's very very well put
- 19:38Speaker 7: on what it takes. It's really just you usually got
- 19:41Speaker 7: to have a pitcher of someone that hasn't had a
- 19:45Speaker 7: big role on the team have one of those games
- 19:48Speaker 7: along with just playing it game by game and doing
- 19:50Speaker 7: what you've done all season. You just got to play
- 19:52Speaker 7: good baseball. But usually now for us a little different
- 19:56Speaker 7: than the scenarios I've been in before, just with second
- 19:59Speaker 7: year single nation. I'm sorry, second year single elimination. You know,
- 20:03Speaker 7: last year we started off no buyas now we got
- 20:05Speaker 7: the double. So it's three games, So it is different
- 20:07Speaker 7: for us and the teams that are already playing.
- 20:09Speaker 8: But I just gotta just gotta play good baseball.
- 20:11Speaker 3: And then it's five games now with ABS and college baseball.
- 20:14Speaker 3: What have you seen and then also since we talked
- 20:17Speaker 3: to you a few weeks ago, what have you guys
- 20:18Speaker 3: learned and studied as far as what your strategy's going
- 20:21Speaker 3: to look like?
- 20:22Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean it's it's good. I mean, like I
- 20:25Speaker 7: said before, like you gotta you gotta try it out.
- 20:27Speaker 7: I think there was in order to do that, there's
- 20:30Speaker 7: gonna be a mistakes. Someone was telling me about a
- 20:32Speaker 7: play I didn't see it where the guy walked where
- 20:34Speaker 7: they challenged the guys stole and yeah, I mean it's
- 20:38Speaker 7: it is.
- 20:39Speaker 8: What it is, right.
- 20:39Speaker 7: It's just there's teams like playing and competing to get
- 20:42Speaker 7: in and there's still these experiments going on.
- 20:45Speaker 8: That's my that's my kind of gripe on it.
- 20:47Speaker 7: I guess a little bit, but then again, there's no
- 20:50Speaker 7: better time to do it, and I think it's what's coming.
- 20:51Speaker 7: So yeah, I saw some I think it's good for
- 20:54Speaker 7: the guys to see too, like see the ones where
- 20:56Speaker 7: people get wrong and they're clearly in this elm so
- 21:00Speaker 7: knowing when to use him. So that strategy is I'm
- 21:02Speaker 7: not gonna give our strategy completely, but.
- 21:05Speaker 8: Something we'll talk about today and tomorrow when we get there.
- 21:07Speaker 7: We just haven't been focused on it at all until honestly,
- 21:09Speaker 7: the last twenty four hours.
- 21:11Speaker 9: What does the pitching outlook look like, pitching strategy look
- 21:14Speaker 9: like so far to right now.
- 21:16Speaker 7: We're gonna kind of wait and see who we match
- 21:18Speaker 7: up against. Everyone's ready to go, though, and you know,
- 21:21Speaker 7: just kind of make sure we put guys in the
- 21:23Speaker 7: right spot and spots with There is a little bit
- 21:28Speaker 7: of next weekend in mind. In days to an extent,
- 21:33Speaker 7: but I mean Friday or Saturday, or Saturday or Friday,
- 21:35Speaker 7: there's not much So I would say that's not a
- 21:38Speaker 7: huge wait into it. But there's gotta be a little
- 21:40Speaker 7: bit of a thought process. But I think, yeah, it
- 21:43Speaker 7: just depends he could possibly see And I've never seen
- 21:47Speaker 7: before in my life that one guy started three out
- 21:50Speaker 7: the last four games.
- 21:51Speaker 8: I don't think that's I don't think that's out of
- 21:53Speaker 8: the question. So, but just not there.
- 21:55Speaker 10: Yet, and that includes Aby being ready.
- 21:59Speaker 8: No, he's gonna pitch this weekend.
- 22:01Speaker 11: He's great.
- 22:01Speaker 8: I mean, it looks great.
- 22:02Speaker 7: He's gonna pitch this season again this Season's gonna pitch
- 22:05Speaker 7: in the postseason.
- 22:05Speaker 8: But we're gonna keep him.
- 22:07Speaker 7: He's gonna throw what he's there, he's gonna throw on
- 22:08Speaker 7: Thursday and Friday. Yeah, so we're just gonna probably I
- 22:13Speaker 7: would say, unless he just feels great, I would say
- 22:16Speaker 7: we're gonna lean way, way heavy towards that. We're just
- 22:18Speaker 7: gonna keep him for the regional.
- 22:20Speaker 12: So kind of what you've been saying a little bit,
- 22:22Speaker 12: just what's the balance of you want to play to win,
- 22:24Speaker 12: but you know there's more stuff ahead.
- 22:27Speaker 8: We're playing to win.
- 22:29Speaker 7: Now, there's certain factors that are different in this tournament
- 22:32Speaker 7: than what would be in a regional, Like you might
- 22:36Speaker 7: ask someone to stretch a little for or comeback earlier,
- 22:40Speaker 7: do something you want to normally ever do in a regional,
- 22:44Speaker 7: Like we're not gonna do that in the SEC tournament,
- 22:48Speaker 7: you know what I mean. So it's like that's the
- 22:51Speaker 7: biggest difference, right, Like if a guy's super banged up
- 22:55Speaker 7: or something like, you're just not gonna push it as
- 22:57Speaker 7: far as you would if it's go home because we
- 23:00Speaker 7: got more games to play. You know, to that point,
- 23:02Speaker 7: what is the last few days, ben Lake, And how
- 23:04Speaker 7: beneficial has it been for you guys to get some rest.
- 23:06Speaker 8: It's been good. It's been good. It was It's honestly
- 23:09Speaker 8: similar to last week.
- 23:10Speaker 7: You know, we had that doubleheader against Auburn that got
- 23:13Speaker 7: done on Friday and no Saturday, Saturday, excuse me, And
- 23:19Speaker 7: we got a couple of days off, and yeah, it
- 23:21Speaker 7: was good. We did the same exact thing this week
- 23:24Speaker 7: as we did last week. We took took Sunday off,
- 23:27Speaker 7: pretty off Monday. But they were all in here anyway
- 23:32Speaker 7: doing stuff, light stuff on their own. Make sure they
- 23:34Speaker 7: played catch pitchers through because they don't can't take the
- 23:36Speaker 7: new days off, but yeah, it was good.
- 23:39Speaker 12: What's the what's the biggest group you've seen in Jorian's
- 23:41Speaker 12: game from when he first stepped onto campus to now
- 23:44Speaker 12: being able to have the season he did through SEC.
- 23:46Speaker 7: Play, I think just like learning the game and anywhere
- 23:50Speaker 7: from base running to where to throw the ball in
- 23:53Speaker 7: the outfield to work in counts and on pitches, and.
- 23:56Speaker 8: He's done just a tremendous job. Like it's it's just
- 24:00Speaker 8: been cool to see.
- 24:01Speaker 7: And he has the talent that's evident, but bigger than
- 24:05Speaker 7: the talent he's got, you know, an elite mindset.
- 24:08Speaker 8: He's very very coachable, and he just wants it like
- 24:13Speaker 8: he wants it.
- 24:13Speaker 7: He's not just the guy that is talented and this
- 24:17Speaker 7: is enough, Like he's always shooting for the next thing.
- 24:19Speaker 7: And I think that's the biggest thing is you don't
- 24:21Speaker 7: know that too much when you recruited guy and he's
- 24:23Speaker 7: he's kind of blown me away with those attributes.
- 24:25Speaker 12: Were you surprised at maybe how under the radar he
- 24:27Speaker 12: was throughout the recruiting process until you guys have kind
- 24:30Speaker 12: of found him.
- 24:31Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I've never I've never seen anyone of
- 24:35Speaker 7: that potential in our game and how it is now.
- 24:39Speaker 8: Kind of sneak by like that.
- 24:41Speaker 7: But he again like he didn't play a lot of
- 24:43Speaker 7: travel ball, So yeah, like extremely surprised just because I mean,
- 24:49Speaker 7: how often have you heard that type of story in
- 24:50Speaker 7: the last few years, Like you don't, So very surprised,
- 24:54Speaker 7: but good surprise for us.
- 24:56Speaker 12: Just one more with him, just is there a player
- 24:58Speaker 12: comp that you think of, like when when you look
- 25:00Speaker 12: at him and that maybe reminds you of someone whether
- 25:03Speaker 12: you've coached or someone you've watched in the pros or anything.
- 25:11Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 25:11Speaker 8: I'm not a big comp guy, I don't.
- 25:14Speaker 7: I mean him and Braiden have a lot of similarities
- 25:16Speaker 7: except he's not a switch hitter, but as far as
- 25:18Speaker 7: like when they hit the ball, how they hit the ball,
- 25:20Speaker 7: a similar speed and runner similar arm. So I would say,
- 25:24Speaker 7: like if you just want to keep it to like
- 25:25Speaker 7: a guy here, I think besides being a switch hitter,
- 25:27Speaker 7: like now you're seeing Braiden as a junior, right, Jordan's
- 25:31Speaker 7: a freshman, so he's not there yet.
- 25:32Speaker 8: But I think if you look at it to actually
- 25:34Speaker 8: have I.
- 25:35Speaker 7: Bet they run about the safe speed similar arm Braiden's.
- 25:40Speaker 7: I would say, Braid's more accurate, but he's three years older.
- 25:44Speaker 7: But yeah, I think that I think he could develop
- 25:45Speaker 7: into that type of guy as long as his plate
- 25:48Speaker 7: disc one continues to get better.
- 25:49Speaker 8: So I have a bit of a cold sense of
- 25:51Speaker 8: how much.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Did his time at the Bombers kind of help them
- 25:53Speaker 3: understand what he had been in the area over the summer.
- 25:58Speaker 7: Our biggest saying with that was just like he hadn't again,
- 26:02Speaker 7: he hadn't played a lot of baseball, and we just
- 26:03Speaker 7: wanted him to play baseball.
- 26:05Speaker 8: We you know, we talked a little bit, but we.
- 26:07Speaker 7: Were not coaching during that time, and just get him
- 26:09Speaker 7: out there, get him at bats. So yeah, I think
- 26:11Speaker 7: it helped a lot as much as and once he
- 26:13Speaker 7: committed to us too, we were like pushing him to
- 26:16Speaker 7: do these different events.
- 26:17Speaker 8: And do stuff.
- 26:18Speaker 7: Just we wanted him to play more. And it's a
- 26:21Speaker 7: big reason why. Like I think I said it before,
- 26:23Speaker 7: but like when Gavin was rehabbing, we had all those
- 26:25Speaker 7: rehabit bats, Jordan was. It was Joring and Gavin the
- 26:29Speaker 7: whole time, because we wanted the pitcher, whoever it was,
- 26:31Speaker 7: have a left handed hitter, and we wanted Jordan just
- 26:33Speaker 7: we just thought, you know, and like and at bats
- 26:36Speaker 7: like an investment, right, as many as you can get in,
- 26:38Speaker 7: as many as you can get in, and we just
- 26:40Speaker 7: kind of.
- 26:41Speaker 8: That was playing all along and he's got to execute
- 26:43Speaker 8: and do well. Can you get better? And he has?
- 26:46Speaker 12: Does he project to maybe move to center field next year?
- 26:49Speaker 12: At all?
- 26:49Speaker 8: If y'all even thought about that, I'm not even figuring.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Okay, all right, that's Mike Carley and again tomorrow. Gavin
- 27:00Speaker 1: Grohovac named earlier SEC All First Team also Scholar Athlete.
- 27:08Speaker 1: He has racked up the awards. He has had an
- 27:11Speaker 1: incredible season, pick for the US national team. He has
- 27:16Speaker 1: had a lot of honors. They may not be finished yet.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Let's hear what Gavin Grohovac had to say day before yesterday.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Just let's do all of those conference accolades, posts and
- 27:31Speaker 3: athletes mean to you, and more specifically the Scholar Athlete
- 27:34Speaker 3: of the year as well.
- 27:35Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean scholar athlete. Very exciting. I'm sure my
- 27:39Speaker 13: mom is very proud. No, that's an exciting one to win.
- 27:43Speaker 13: Obviously I didn't really know I was in the running
- 27:45Speaker 13: for it, But that's a cool, cool honor. All the
- 27:48Speaker 13: other ones that attest to how good the team's been
- 27:50Speaker 13: this year. Give me a chance to go out there
- 27:52Speaker 13: and play play as best as I can be the
- 27:54Speaker 13: best version of myself. So yeah, I think the guys
- 27:57Speaker 13: for helping me get to that point.
- 27:58Speaker 3: You've been out to Hoover a couple of times play
- 28:00Speaker 3: this event one, So how does this event compare to
- 28:03Speaker 3: College World Series? From pump and circumstances? And then also
- 28:05Speaker 3: what does it take to win here versus the other
- 28:08Speaker 3: postseason foremots?
- 28:09Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean, I don't know if I would compare
- 28:11Speaker 13: it to the World Series. Obviously it's a completely different environment,
- 28:14Speaker 13: but obviously it's all postseason baseball at this point, so
- 28:17Speaker 13: it's all the best teams.
- 28:19Speaker 11: You know.
- 28:19Speaker 13: SECS, I would say, is one of the best conferences
- 28:22Speaker 13: that you could be in and roll in one area
- 28:24Speaker 13: playing for one title. So that's just exciting baseball right there.
- 28:27Speaker 13: But it's always been fun to go out there every year.
- 28:30Speaker 13: I see what they're doing with all the renovations, so
- 28:32Speaker 13: it's cool seeing that place get built up. But it's
- 28:34Speaker 13: fun baseball you to go watch other teams, meet the
- 28:35Speaker 13: other guys, to greet the other people. It's all respect
- 28:38Speaker 13: at that point.
- 28:39Speaker 3: A big talking point is ABS this week, So what
- 28:41Speaker 3: have you guys done to prepare for it, and what
- 28:44Speaker 3: have you thought about watching these first five games or so?
- 28:47Speaker 13: Yeah, we haven't done much. I mean we trained the
- 28:49Speaker 13: strike shown every single day like that. That's the biggest
- 28:51Speaker 13: thing of being part of the offense here is train
- 28:53Speaker 13: the strikes on. Knowing the strikes on. Obviously, I know
- 28:54Speaker 13: the striketion is a little different when it comes to
- 28:57Speaker 13: metrics wise, but it's part of it. I don't We're
- 29:00Speaker 13: going to talk about strategy once we get there, how
- 29:02Speaker 13: we want to use it and what we're gonna do
- 29:03Speaker 13: with it. But at the day, we still got to
- 29:05Speaker 13: play baseball. Guys got to throw to the play. We
- 29:06Speaker 13: still got something that well.
- 29:07Speaker 7: So you know, speaking to your accolades, have you given
- 29:09Speaker 7: yourself a chance to kind of think about what this
- 29:11Speaker 7: year has been, especially after everything you went through last year?
- 29:15Speaker 13: I mean, yeah, I think being in it, you realize
- 29:17Speaker 13: the difference of what we've done this year compared to
- 29:20Speaker 13: last year. But at the end of the day, we
- 29:22Speaker 13: want to play winning baseball. We want to play the
- 29:24Speaker 13: best baseball that we can every single day. And I
- 29:26Speaker 13: think to this point we've done a really, really good
- 29:27Speaker 13: job and put ourselves in a good, good situation.
- 29:30Speaker 8: You mentioned training the strikes on what does that, what
- 29:31Speaker 8: does that look like? What is some of the ways
- 29:33Speaker 8: that you'll do that.
- 29:34Speaker 13: Just little things in the cages, like when we're hitting
- 29:36Speaker 13: off machines, just knowing like you got someone always behind
- 29:38Speaker 13: home play telling you a striker ball and try and
- 29:41Speaker 13: not swing at the balls. You take the ball, swing
- 29:44Speaker 13: with the strikes. It's just little things like that. And
- 29:46Speaker 13: obviously during the fall we did a bunch. Obviously you
- 29:48Speaker 13: have track man so you can see the zone, but
- 29:50Speaker 13: it's just every day little things for us hitters that
- 29:52Speaker 13: we know what our strike zone is, but again it's
- 29:56Speaker 13: not our strike zone, but we got to be able
- 29:57Speaker 13: to swing's when it's our time to.
- 29:58Speaker 14: Swing, a lot of questions about freshman this season, but
- 30:02Speaker 14: I wanted to ask you one more about Jorian's what
- 30:04Speaker 14: what's something you feel like people maybe don't understand about
- 30:07Speaker 14: him and just what he's been able to bring to
- 30:09Speaker 14: the table this season.
- 30:10Speaker 13: Yeah, that's one of the best kids I've I've ever
- 30:12Speaker 13: been around. Like just the type of human being he
- 30:14Speaker 13: is outside of baseball's unbelievable. I think that when it
- 30:17Speaker 13: comes to the baseball side, I think I still don't
- 30:19Speaker 13: think he knows how good he really is. He's super raw.
- 30:22Speaker 13: The guy's just ultra talented, super athletics. So watching him
- 30:27Speaker 13: these next couple of years is going to be super
- 30:29Speaker 13: super fun. I'm excited for where his careers and you go.
- 30:31Speaker 12: I think to Mike, say that you guys are he
- 30:34Speaker 12: was hitting with you in rehab last summer maybe, and
- 30:37Speaker 12: just what did you see early on from him that
- 30:40Speaker 12: maybe you thought that he could turn into something like
- 30:43Speaker 12: this Joria, Yeah, uh.
- 30:46Speaker 13: I don't know exactly what you're talking about, but just early,
- 30:49Speaker 13: I mean when I first saw him, you can see
- 30:52Speaker 13: obviously he's got the power. The guy I've never seen
- 30:55Speaker 13: one hit balls like he does. Reminds me a little
- 30:57Speaker 13: bit of Jason Brandon. But now that kids, specially, he's
- 31:01Speaker 13: gonna be great. He's be great guy to watch.
- 31:02Speaker 3: The next couple of years.
- 31:03Speaker 1: I want to remind you that Galeria spa salon boutique

- 31:36Speaker 1: with clothing and home Decorps've got jewelry. Go seek all

- 33:35Speaker 1: will ever witness. Thank you for bringing us a championship.
- 33:38Speaker 19: Thank you for elevating us in that way.
- 33:41Speaker 17: But also we're the Lakers.
- 33:42Speaker 9: We don't need to be elevated.
- 33:44Speaker 2: No star is bigger than the brand of the Lakers,
- 33:48Speaker 2: and they should.

- 34:19Speaker 17: Welcome into the High School Report.
- 34:20Speaker 21: I'm Kayler Brapley, and today we are jumping out to
- 34:23Speaker 21: the Player's Fun Center phone line to visit with the
- 34:25Speaker 21: head coach of the Iola Bulldogs baseball team, Coach Eric Blenden.
- 34:30Speaker 17: Coach, thanks for joining me today.
- 34:32Speaker 11: Yeah, pleasure to be here. And you know, just excited
- 34:35Speaker 11: for tonight's game.
- 34:37Speaker 21: Yes, sir, So your Bulldog's very good season so far
- 34:41Speaker 21: twenty four and four overall and getting ready for tonight's
- 34:45Speaker 21: regional final matchup against Schulenberg.
- 34:49Speaker 17: So what have been some of the keys to success
- 34:51Speaker 17: for your Bulldogs this year?
- 34:53Speaker 11: Yeah, you know, our picture staff, mainly Brody Vaughn. You know,
- 34:57Speaker 11: he's kind of our ace of our staff, and you know,
- 35:00Speaker 11: they do a good job of not putting people on
- 35:02Speaker 11: for free. You know, in high school baseball, that's a big,
- 35:05Speaker 11: you know, big thing is you know, make everybody earn
- 35:08Speaker 11: everything they get. And we don't put on people for
- 35:10Speaker 11: free with walks, they're hit by batters and things of
- 35:12Speaker 11: that nature. And you know, our lineup does a good
- 35:15Speaker 11: job of not striking out and making people throw us out.
- 35:19Speaker 11: And you know, we're just just very very fundamental in
- 35:23Speaker 11: everything we do, and the kids play hard, and when
- 35:26Speaker 11: you can do those things, you know you've got a
- 35:28Speaker 11: chance to be successful. And luckily it's worked out for
- 35:30Speaker 11: us so far this year.
- 35:31Speaker 21: Your Bulldogs coming out of District twenty six in Region four,
- 35:36Speaker 21: and you know the top three teams in that district
- 35:39Speaker 21: between Iola, Mumford, and Burton all really solid teams. Burton
- 35:44Speaker 21: also will be playing in the regional finals in Division
- 35:47Speaker 21: two this weekend and Mumford got to the area around
- 35:51Speaker 21: for getting knocked out.
- 35:52Speaker 17: So having those that top.
- 35:55Speaker 21: Three of really competitive teams, how much was is that
- 35:59Speaker 21: a benefit for your team to get those experiences during
- 36:02Speaker 21: the regular season and now be able to have success
- 36:05Speaker 21: in the playoffs.
- 36:07Speaker 11: Yeah, you know, anytime you can challenge yourself against good
- 36:10Speaker 11: opponents and come on out. You know, on top of
- 36:14Speaker 11: those games, you know, our district was very deep. You know,
- 36:17Speaker 11: barton is Is is obviously real good and Mumford's been
- 36:20Speaker 11: good for the last you know, five to ten years
- 36:22Speaker 11: in baseball. And you know, anytime you can challenge yourself,
- 36:25Speaker 11: it just prepares you for playoffs and kind of big
- 36:28Speaker 11: game atmosphere. And and you know, our kids has done
- 36:31Speaker 11: a good job of just treating it like another game
- 36:33Speaker 11: and not making it too big of a deal. And
- 36:36Speaker 11: you know, I couldn't be more proud of the way
- 36:38Speaker 11: we're representing our district because it was a really good
- 36:40Speaker 11: baseball district this year.
- 36:41Speaker 21: So last weekend in the regional semi finals, took down
- 36:45Speaker 21: the Referrio Biobcats a six to one win and then
- 36:48Speaker 21: a six to one loss, and following it up in
- 36:51Speaker 21: Game three with a three to one win. So how
- 36:54Speaker 21: much does that mean to you with a team like
- 36:56Speaker 21: Grafferrio being a perennial contender and say championship contender. How
- 37:01Speaker 21: big was that victory in the series last weekend?
- 37:03Speaker 11: Yeah, you know, anytime you can be the program like Refeeo,
- 37:06Speaker 11: that's you know, not only in baseball, but football and
- 37:09Speaker 11: track and pretty much anything they do, you know, and
- 37:11Speaker 11: and to to win a series against them, and and
- 37:15Speaker 11: winning is all they know how to do. And uh,
- 37:17Speaker 11: you know that just proves what we're what we're doing
- 37:19Speaker 11: here is is uh, you know, is what we're trying
- 37:23Speaker 11: to build. You know, we're trying to face down these
- 37:26Speaker 11: programs that are successful in every sport. And uh, you know,
- 37:29Speaker 11: we've had a pretty good year here in all three
- 37:31Speaker 11: and and uh, you know, I couldn't be more proud
- 37:34Speaker 11: of the way the guys kind of battled back after
- 37:36Speaker 11: you know, the first game of the of the Saturday
- 37:39Speaker 11: not going our way and finding a way to win
- 37:41Speaker 11: that game late, you know, in the seventh inning against
- 37:44Speaker 11: a really good baseball team. You know, you you're You're
- 37:48Speaker 11: proud as of the coach anytime guys can can compete,
- 37:50Speaker 11: you know, for for eight hours and get after it
- 37:53Speaker 11: and do everything you ask and uh, you know, hopefully
- 37:56Speaker 11: that serves us well moving forward.
- 37:57Speaker 21: So in your role at IOLA, you are the head
- 38:00Speaker 21: coach for baseball and football and also the boys athletic director.
- 38:05Speaker 21: How difficult does that make being able to focus on
- 38:07Speaker 21: one season at a time.
- 38:09Speaker 17: How are you able to uh handle that?
- 38:11Speaker 11: Yeah, you know, I just I treat every sport, you know,
- 38:15Speaker 11: the same way I would want somebody to coach my son.
- 38:18Speaker 11: And uh, you know, I tell kids all the time,
- 38:20Speaker 11: I said, look, you know, at some point your career
- 38:24Speaker 11: is going to be over, whether it's after your senior
- 38:27Speaker 11: year or after your senior in college or whatever it is.
- 38:30Speaker 11: You know, I get another I get another season. Most
- 38:33Speaker 11: of the time as a coach, and uh, you know,
- 38:36Speaker 11: so I have to give one hundred percent focus to
- 38:38Speaker 11: these kids and uh, you know, give them everything, uh
- 38:41Speaker 11: that that I can for them to be successful. And
- 38:44Speaker 11: you know, it's my goal here for us to be
- 38:46Speaker 11: good at every sport. And I just won. And uh
- 38:48Speaker 11: if that requires me to coach you know, more than
- 38:51Speaker 11: one sport, uh, you know, then that's what I'll do.
- 38:53Speaker 11: And uh, but these guys have have done a great
- 38:56Speaker 11: job of whenever I'm off doing something else, you know,
- 38:59Speaker 11: as the different hats I have to wear it throughout
- 39:01Speaker 11: the day pulls me. They do a good job of
- 39:04Speaker 11: staying focused. And my assistant has done a great job
- 39:07Speaker 11: of when those times come up, of handling my absence
- 39:10Speaker 11: and you know, really doing a good job of helping
- 39:13Speaker 11: me coach this team.
- 39:14Speaker 1: As well.
- 39:14Speaker 21: So we talked about it a little bit earlier, but
- 39:16Speaker 21: tonight regional final matchup with Schulenberg, and this will be
- 39:21Speaker 21: a one game playoff matchup instead of the three game series.
- 39:27Speaker 21: So you know, when when you're talking to the other
- 39:30Speaker 21: coach for a playoff series like this and you've already
- 39:33Speaker 21: done it once this year against Johnson City doing the
- 39:36Speaker 21: one game playoff instead of three game series, what goes
- 39:39Speaker 21: into that decision?
- 39:40Speaker 17: What's the thought process there?
- 39:42Speaker 11: You know, I think you just have to be honest
- 39:43Speaker 11: about who you are as a team, you know, and
- 39:48Speaker 11: what I feel what's best for us is to play
- 39:51Speaker 11: a one gamer if we can. You know, Ruddy Vaughan
- 39:54Speaker 11: has been pretty dominant this year as a pitcher and
- 39:58Speaker 11: he's going on to play at Blene Junior College, and
- 40:01Speaker 11: you know, he's a big piece of what we do.
- 40:03Speaker 11: And you know, I have full trust and our other
- 40:06Speaker 11: pictures as we get along, But you know, I think
- 40:08Speaker 11: you've got to be real honest about what your team
- 40:11Speaker 11: is and who you are and how how you play well.
- 40:13Speaker 11: And you know, I just think one game gives us
- 40:16Speaker 11: the best opportunity to advance. And we're lucky enough to
- 40:19Speaker 11: win a coin flip and you know it may not
- 40:22Speaker 11: work in our favor, but you know you have to
- 40:24Speaker 11: do everything you can before you play the game to
- 40:26Speaker 11: put yourself in a position to be successful, and we
- 40:29Speaker 11: believe with one gamer is the best thing for us.
- 40:31Speaker 21: So on the other side of the diamond is going
- 40:34Speaker 21: to be the Schulenberg short Horns. A really really strong
- 40:38Speaker 21: season for them, twenty eight and six overall, twelve and
- 40:41Speaker 21: one in district play with the only loss to Shiner,
- 40:44Speaker 21: which is a state championship favorite in Division two this year.
- 40:49Speaker 21: So another team from a really tough district. What do
- 40:52Speaker 21: you expect to see from them?
- 40:53Speaker 11: Yeah, you know they they they're almost like a mirror
- 40:55Speaker 11: image of us. You know, they have a kid that's
- 40:59Speaker 11: dominant on the on the as well, and you know
- 41:01Speaker 11: one through nine can hurt you at the plate, and
- 41:04Speaker 11: you know they don't make mistakes. You know that that
- 41:07Speaker 11: other teams make that you can kind of capitalize. So
- 41:09Speaker 11: you know, to beat a team like Shilenberg, you're gonna
- 41:12Speaker 11: have to play well. There's no going to be there's
- 41:14Speaker 11: not gonna be anything given to you, and that's what
- 41:17Speaker 11: you should expect at this time of the year. Whenever
- 41:19Speaker 11: you're in the fourth round of the playoffs. You know,
- 41:21Speaker 11: you got to go out and win a game. Nobody's
- 41:23Speaker 11: going to give you anything, and we're fully prepared for
- 41:26Speaker 11: a battle for seven innings and hopefully we come out
- 41:29Speaker 11: on top.
- 41:29Speaker 17: All right, coach, well, I appreciate your time today. Good
- 41:32Speaker 17: luck tonight, all right, thank you, go dogs.

- 46:55Speaker 27: to THE Ncaa championships This friday In San diego after
- 46:59Speaker 27: putting together one of the strongest stretches of golf all season.
- 47:02Speaker 27: Long The aggies are coming off the second place finish
- 47:05Speaker 27: at THE Ncuba regional In, waco where they continue to
- 47:09Speaker 27: build momentum against some of the top teams in the.
- 47:11Speaker 27: Country throughout the, Spring TECHS a AND m has consistently
- 47:14Speaker 27: shown flashes of being one of the more dangerous teams
- 47:17Speaker 27: in college, golf and now they'll have the opportunity to
- 47:20Speaker 27: prove that on the national. Stage this YEAR'S Ncuba championship
- 47:24Speaker 27: appearance feels especially meaningful for this group after falling short
- 47:28Speaker 27: Of nationals last. Season both players and coaches have talked
- 47:32Speaker 27: throughout the postseason about using that disappointment as motivation for this,
- 47:36Speaker 27: year and according to head Coach Jared, chadwell this team
- 47:40Speaker 27: has responded with a different level of focus and. Energy,
- 47:43Speaker 27: now another thing that stands out about this group is
- 47:46Speaker 27: just how close they. Are chadwell repeatedly emphasized the chemistry
- 47:49Speaker 27: and confidence that this team is built over the course
- 47:52Speaker 27: of the, season saying that connection becomes even more important
- 47:55Speaker 27: once postseason pressure begins to. Rise and now With Nationals
- 47:59Speaker 27: affai surely, here The AGI's head To San diego believing
- 48:02Speaker 27: their best golf may still be ahead of. Them earlier this,
- 48:05Speaker 27: WEEK i had the chance to speak with text And
- 48:07Speaker 27: i'm head Coach Jared chadwell and Sophomore Sky sidberry about
- 48:11Speaker 27: the igi's mindset heading into THE Ncaa. Championships, hi how
- 48:16Speaker 27: do you.
- 48:16Speaker 12: Feel about your club going into this and just what
- 48:20Speaker 12: do you think it's going to take to make a
- 48:21Speaker 12: run at it for?
- 48:23Speaker 9: Us really, ENERGY i think our best golf is still
- 48:27Speaker 9: ahead of. US i thought we saw more glimpses of
- 48:30Speaker 9: that In, waco BUT i really like where they're.
- 48:33Speaker 7: At this is a really really.
- 48:36Speaker 9: Close, group AND i think when you get into weeks like,
- 48:39Speaker 9: this that's that carries you through some of the hard.
- 48:41Speaker 9: Stuff so they cultivate that and they put in the
- 48:45Speaker 9: time and working At so that's just imported as any golf.
- 48:48Speaker 12: Show we're going to, Hit are y'all rolling with the same?
- 48:51Speaker 8: Lineup The, yeah we'll go with the same.
- 48:52Speaker 9: Lineup loues still in substitute and looks really. Good so,
- 48:55Speaker 9: Man i'm excited with that. SIX i would say that's
- 48:58Speaker 9: the best six at The National. Championship and so she
- 49:02Speaker 9: has done really really well in that Role, luis's which
- 49:05Speaker 9: is not an easy role because she could be playing
- 49:07Speaker 9: for a lot of teams in this, tournament so we'll
- 49:10Speaker 9: keep a safe line up and keep going with that
- 49:11Speaker 9: until something.
- 49:12Speaker 12: Changes your teams have had some success at The, championships
- 49:17Speaker 12: getting close to knocking on the door getting in that title.
- 49:19Speaker 12: Matches what have you learned about what it takes to
- 49:22Speaker 12: to try and get to that final stage and just
- 49:25Speaker 12: what it might take to get over that hump this.
- 49:27Speaker 9: YEAR i think what we learned from those first couple
- 49:29Speaker 9: of years is just really how important energy is towards
- 49:32Speaker 9: the end of. That and it's not really be getting along,
- 49:35Speaker 9: energy it's really just are you sleeping? Well are you healing?
- 49:38Speaker 9: Well that first, year we ran out of gas in
- 49:41Speaker 9: that in that semi final, match and THEN i thought
- 49:43Speaker 9: we were really good against A wake team that second
- 49:46Speaker 9: year that won national. Championship so the last, time what
- 49:50Speaker 9: was the year before, last we were there and we
- 49:53Speaker 9: just didn't play well AGAINST. Ucla But i'm excited for this.
- 49:56Speaker 9: BUNCH i saw a really good version of him at
- 49:58Speaker 9: THE sec match, Play so we just kind, of, uh
- 50:02Speaker 9: really really just monitor how we're feeling and and sleeping
- 50:05Speaker 9: while we're.
- 50:06Speaker 25: There then that's a sort of called back on the
- 50:07Speaker 25: loss Of tennessee as a big, MOMENT i guess for team.
- 50:10Speaker 11: Unity have have you SEEN uh any difference in them
- 50:13Speaker 11: SINCE i?
- 50:14Speaker 27: Lost?
- 50:15Speaker 8: YEAH i think.
- 50:18Speaker 9: You, know we we have talked a lot about uh
- 50:21Speaker 9: our regular. Season they accomplished a lot of great, things
- 50:23Speaker 9: but in some ways it really hadn't gotten hard.
- 50:25Speaker 17: Yet AND secs was their first taste of.
- 50:28Speaker 9: That AND i, thought, man were they really good Against
- 50:31Speaker 9: texas and we were really good Against tennessee and everybody
- 50:34Speaker 9: really knows what, happens and you, know that's the way scour.
- 50:38Speaker 9: Goes AND i thought they took that AND i saw
- 50:41Speaker 9: an extra gear and then when we got, back SO
- 50:44Speaker 9: i thought that really propelled us In, waco Cause regionals
- 50:47Speaker 9: is such a hard week and you go there and
- 50:49Speaker 9: you're you're you have everything really to lose when you get.
- 50:52Speaker 9: There SO i saw a really good side of.
- 50:54Speaker 8: Them there and maybe it unified them a little bit more.
- 50:58Speaker 9: As what they said how close they, Are but, YEAH
- 51:01Speaker 9: i know they really wanted another shot of them when
- 51:03Speaker 9: they saw them pop up in The waco.
- 51:05Speaker 27: Regional that confidence has continued to grow throughout the, postseason
- 51:10Speaker 27: especially after The agis just barely missed THE Ncaa championships
- 51:14Speaker 27: a season. Ago players say that disappointment helped motivate this
- 51:17Speaker 27: year's team and now Entering, nationals there's a growing belief
- 51:21Speaker 27: inside the program that this group is capable of making
- 51:24Speaker 27: a serious postseason. Run Sophomore Sky sudbury says one of
- 51:28Speaker 27: the biggest keys for the AGI's heading Into San diego
- 51:31Speaker 27: is staying confident and treating the national stage like they
- 51:34Speaker 27: would any other.
- 51:35Speaker 12: Tournament, skuy just what's kind of the feeling going into
- 51:40Speaker 12: THESE Nuba.
- 51:41Speaker 9: Championships, yeah we.
- 51:42Speaker 28: Had a really successful. REGIONAL i think all the girls
- 51:44Speaker 28: feel super, confident SO i think we're in the best
- 51:47Speaker 28: spot of even in as a, team and we feel
- 51:49Speaker 28: like we still haven't even played our best golf, yet
- 51:51Speaker 28: so we're ready to have that this.
- 51:52Speaker 12: Week you mentioned not playing your best golf. Yet just
- 51:55Speaker 12: what do you think is there left to be had
- 51:58Speaker 12: and just get into that next. Level is this kind
- 52:00Speaker 12: of crescendos serious?
- 52:02Speaker 27: End?
- 52:02Speaker 28: YEAH i think you, know, obviously, golf you, know you
- 52:04Speaker 28: make a lot of mistakes that we're really trying to
- 52:06Speaker 28: minimize our mistakes and you can always get. Better so
- 52:08Speaker 28: we've been practicing really hard the last few weeks and
- 52:11Speaker 28: just tuning up the little things that we know we
- 52:13Speaker 28: can improve on and ready to see if it pays.
- 52:15Speaker 25: Off getting a one suit originals obviously a big deal
- 52:17Speaker 25: with to back that up and win to win the,
- 52:19Speaker 25: Regional just how?
- 52:20Speaker 8: Much how much does that help? Confidence and why do
- 52:22Speaker 8: you fee the guys you play in such a golf right?
- 52:24Speaker 28: Now, Yeah so we got second in the, regional but
- 52:26Speaker 28: we still had a really low. Round so we did
- 52:29Speaker 28: really well and obviously coming in as a one season
- 52:31Speaker 28: we have a lot of, pressure but we knew all
- 52:33Speaker 28: we need to do is just gets top five and
- 52:35Speaker 28: that's what we.
- 52:35Speaker 9: Did so it's.
- 52:36Speaker 12: Great you, know what's kind of the approach to a
- 52:38Speaker 12: tournament like this where you, know very competitive, field there's
- 52:41Speaker 12: a lot of golf to be, played and you're just
- 52:44Speaker 12: trying to get get in.
- 52:45Speaker 28: Advance, yeah, Absolutely coach she always, says we're just trying
- 52:48Speaker 28: to get one more key, Time so that's what we're
- 52:50Speaker 28: trying to. Do we talked about it this morning with the.
- 52:52Speaker 12: Girls it's just another.
- 52:53Speaker 28: TOURNAMENT i think it really hasn't even said in yet
- 52:55Speaker 28: that we're going to The national champions At. Chip so
- 52:57Speaker 28: if we just think of it's one other, tournament we'll be.
- 52:59Speaker 28: Good how motivated are you by the by the PREVIOUS
- 53:03Speaker 28: ncaa timemus that you've Been, yeah absolutely super. Motivated you,
- 53:06Speaker 28: know this is the first one That i'll actually be
- 53:08Speaker 28: able to. Play in my first, YEAR i was a
- 53:09Speaker 28: sixth and then last year we didn't make, it so,
- 53:12Speaker 28: Me kathain And vanessa were on that team that didn't make.
- 53:14Speaker 28: It SO i know that we're really hungry to have
- 53:16Speaker 28: a good.
- 53:16Speaker 8: Week please in.
- 53:17Speaker 28: The course of, Course, yeah what do you? Say the
- 53:20Speaker 28: course is. Great, yeah it's a really tough. Test the
- 53:22Speaker 28: greens are really. Hard WHEN i was there my first,
- 53:25Speaker 28: year it was really. Firms it was hard to stop the.
- 53:27Speaker 28: Ball you have to be a really good ball. Striker
- 53:29Speaker 28: you have to have great up and. Down so it
