- 0:00Speaker 1: I Andrews take it very much back now with Crackenead coach, Lane,
- 0:02Speaker 1: Lambert and Lane. First off, when you go back and
- 0:04Speaker 1: look at the tape from last night, what caught your
- 0:06Speaker 1: eye at first two periods versus the final five minutes?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Well, I mean the final five minutes, we had our
- 0:12Speaker 2: goalie out.
- 0:13Speaker 3: You know, we were pressing, and you know we had
- 0:16Speaker 3: some you know, we had some good opportunities. We had
- 0:18Speaker 3: a really good opportunity to make it four three, and
- 0:20Speaker 3: then that would have been interesting, you know, with two minutes.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Left, but too little, too late.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Like I say, you leave things up to chance and
- 0:29Speaker 3: oftentimes you're on the wrong end of it.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I just didn't think we played fast enough.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I thought they'd played faster than we did, and we've
- 0:37Speaker 3: got to be better.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Jordan Ibily mentioned that at the end of last night,
- 0:40Speaker 1: how much it kind of feels like playoff hockey and
- 0:42Speaker 1: it has so here for this last month. How much
- 0:44Speaker 1: of that is kind of driving more of the conversation
- 0:47Speaker 1: with things changing day by day right now in the
- 0:49Speaker 1: Western Conference.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you have to have a little bit
- 0:52Speaker 3: of a playoff mindset right now, and you know, part
- 0:55Speaker 3: of it maybe with Ebbs is that we're playing every
- 0:57Speaker 3: second day just like playoffs would be. But uh, you
- 1:03Speaker 3: know this is uh, in my opinion, with the league
- 1:06Speaker 3: being as close as it is this year, playoffs started
- 1:10Speaker 3: a little bit earlier this year, so uh, you know
- 1:14Speaker 3: it's going to be a battle for anyone and everyone
- 1:16Speaker 3: to get into the playoffs.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Today will be Jared McCann's seven hundredth career NHL games,
- 1:21Speaker 1: so now they have a chance to coach them this season.
- 1:23Speaker 1: What are some of the things that come to mind
- 1:25Speaker 1: as far as a player that he's become and what
- 1:27Speaker 1: it takes also to last that long in this league.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Well, obviously, anyone who last seven hundred games, you're a
- 1:32Speaker 3: good hockey player, you know, and his mantra and m
- 1:37Speaker 3: o is an offensive hockey player. And if you're if
- 1:41Speaker 3: that's your if that's your job, you got to do
- 1:44Speaker 3: your job. And so the impressive thing for me is
- 1:47Speaker 3: with any offensive player on any team, but certainly jaredy
- 1:50Speaker 3: leads a team scoring.
- 1:52Speaker 2: You know every year basically, and he leads.
- 1:55Speaker 3: The franchise and scoring you know all the time, so
- 1:59Speaker 3: you know, he delivers on what his job is.
- 2:02Speaker 1: He had Oscar Fisco vallguard called back up now on
- 2:05Speaker 1: this roster once again. And it's often said that it
- 2:07Speaker 1: takes a lot of brains to play the game at
- 2:08Speaker 1: a high level, and that's been kind of the word
- 2:11Speaker 1: thrown around as far as the makeup of his game.
- 2:13Speaker 1: But what stood out most to you, whether it's that
- 2:16Speaker 1: or something else when he was first called up here?
- 2:18Speaker 3: Yeah, well, first of all, he's got speed and quickness.
- 2:22Speaker 3: You know, he can kill penalties. You know, he can
- 2:26Speaker 3: plays a power play down in Coachella Valley.
- 2:29Speaker 2: But again, you know, on these call ups, in these
- 2:33Speaker 2: call up.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Situations, intelligence and being able to adapt is extremely important
- 2:41Speaker 3: in a short term situation. And when I say short
- 2:45Speaker 3: term situation, I mean he gets called up, he gets
- 2:47Speaker 3: in here at eleven o'clock this morning, and now you
- 2:50Speaker 3: know he's potentially playing, so you know, you've got to
- 2:54Speaker 3: process a lot of information quickly, and we feel like
- 2:57Speaker 3: his intelligence level he can do that.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Did this back in December, Anaheim one night, Los Angeles
- 3:03Speaker 1: the very next night, and it kind of feels like
- 3:05Speaker 1: a changed direction as far as pace of play, the
- 3:07Speaker 1: opponent makeup and whatnot. But for tonight, where do the
- 3:10Speaker 1: legs have to be and where does it might also
- 3:11Speaker 1: have to be facing Los Angeles.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah, well, we you know, this is a game, and
- 3:18Speaker 3: again it's our last game before the break.
- 3:19Speaker 2: We're asking for two and a half to three hours
- 3:21Speaker 2: of hard work here.
- 3:24Speaker 3: We need focus, we need full commitment, and all the
- 3:26Speaker 3: little details.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Are going to be, you know, going to be the
- 3:29Speaker 2: most important thing. They're all going to matter.
- 3:30Speaker 3: So you know, it's again it's a different, different time
- 3:36Speaker 3: than it was December twenty third. You know, there's a
- 3:39Speaker 3: lot of games that have gone on between then and now,
- 3:43Speaker 3: and you know, the standings and the magnitude of the
- 3:46Speaker 3: games are just growing.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Finally, it's the last time, aside from Oscar Fisker Mulgard,
- 3:50Speaker 1: that you'll see Coppocco, Ellie Tolbyn, and Philip group Barber
- 3:53Speaker 1: before the Olympic break. What have you seen that's made
- 3:55Speaker 1: them here into Olympians heading into the break?
- 3:58Speaker 3: Ah?
- 3:59Speaker 2: Well, I mean obviously each one. Gruby's had a heck
- 4:01Speaker 2: of a year.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Coppo's playing well, Toto he's playing well, you know, and
- 4:05Speaker 3: and Oscar's.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Doing well down in the Conchalla Valley.
- 4:08Speaker 3: I mean, you know, they're they're good players for their
- 4:13Speaker 3: for their countries, and it's exciting for them to be
- 4:16Speaker 3: able to go
