- 0:00Speaker 1: And here's our top secret number if you want to
- 0:02Speaker 1: participate until 6.30 tonight. Guardians pregame at 6.30 as we
- 0:06Speaker 1: take on the Reds. First pitch a little after 7
- 0:09Speaker 1: on NewsRadio 570 WQEN.
- 0:10Speaker 2: 330-729-9977. 330-729-9977.
- 0:10Speaker 1: We'll get you through this. 330-729-9977.
- 0:11Speaker 3: 67 degrees.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Ron Verb, NewsRadio 570 WQEN from the Kingdom of Mahoning.
- 0:13Speaker 1: And you're on the air.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Dave Thomas was really good yesterday. I thought after all
- 0:35Speaker 4: the information he gave, how long would that take me
- 0:37Speaker 4: to find out myself if I even could put forth
- 0:40Speaker 4: the effort to find any of that?
- 0:42Speaker 1: It would be difficult. Like I say when he's on,
- 0:47Speaker 1: he represents everything in politics that you want. He's genuinely
- 0:50Speaker 1: a public servant. He's operating in a taxpayer's best interest.
- 0:55Speaker 1: And he's not– he just– he isn't an egotistical guy.
- 1:00Speaker 1: He isn't stuck on himself or an egotistical guy. He's
- 1:04Speaker 1: a public servant that wants to do the best job
- 1:07Speaker 1: he can do for his taxpaying citizens and on a
- 1:11Speaker 1: regular basis makes time available to come on the program
- 1:15Speaker 1: for the sole purpose of letting us know what's going on.
- 1:18Speaker 1: And for that, I have a world of respect for him.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Yeah, when he was talking about all that fraud and
- 1:24Speaker 4: talking about why hasn't anybody figured it out or why
- 1:27Speaker 4: hasn't anybody said anything about it, it was really interesting.
- 1:30Speaker 4: I was thinking about it afterward. I was thinking about
- 1:32Speaker 4: Amy Acton. And I don't know if you noticed, did
- 1:35Speaker 4: she ever mention why she's even running for governor? Because
- 1:39Speaker 4: it's kind of similar to why was Tim Walz picked
- 1:44Speaker 4: as the vice president choice for Kamala Harris? And the
- 1:47Speaker 4: more information that's come out, it was most likely to
- 1:50Speaker 4: cover up the fraud, because if you go to the
- 1:52Speaker 4: vice president, you can stifle a lot of that. I'm
- 1:55Speaker 4: sure that the fraud that would eventually come out or
- 1:58Speaker 4: use all that money, then funnel it into the campaign
- 2:01Speaker 4: for vice president, president. And it's just very suspicious to
- 2:06Speaker 4: me why Amy Acton, after she gave up, would want
- 2:09Speaker 4: to run for governor. Has she done anything in between
- 2:13Speaker 4: since she quit?
- 2:14Speaker 1: Not that I'm aware of.
- 2:16Speaker 4: You know in a if you look at the other
- 2:18Speaker 4: side you look at the big rama saw me it's
- 2:20Speaker 4: like cool i want him to be governor because he
- 2:24Speaker 4: had bigger aspirations even in ohio it makes sense for
- 2:28Speaker 4: him to do is good apart the job is possible
- 2:30Speaker 4: so that he could use that to run for president
- 2:33Speaker 4: so even if he decided that will you made his
- 2:36Speaker 4: whole goal in all this was to run for president
- 2:38Speaker 4: in twenty twenty just get his name out there so
- 2:41Speaker 4: that eventually he can run for governor in ohio where
- 2:45Speaker 4: he is now And if that was his ultimate plan,
- 2:48Speaker 4: I mean, that's genius in itself there, too. And I
- 2:50Speaker 4: think enough that I would vote for that to be
- 2:53Speaker 4: governor of Ohio. It's just the Amy Acton thing just really,
- 2:56Speaker 4: it's just suspicious to me. I get why the Vakes rhyme,
- 3:01Speaker 4: but why would Amy Acton want to run for governor?
- 3:04Speaker 4: She's done nothing in between, and she quit. And if
- 3:07Speaker 4: all this Medicaid fraud, you know, ends up flying its
- 3:11Speaker 4: fingers and, you know, pathways back to her, it's going
- 3:13Speaker 4: to make a lot more sense.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Well, it seems to me a couple of things. I
- 3:17Speaker 1: would like to see Vivek run while he's running for governor.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I'd like to see him be successful in the campaign
- 3:23Speaker 1: because I think he's smart. How about this for a
- 3:27Speaker 1: reason why I will vote for him? I agree with
- 3:29Speaker 1: a lot of the things that he's saying, and that's important,
- 3:32Speaker 1: but I also think he's smart. And that's what I'm
- 3:35Speaker 1: looking for in somebody to be governor. I'm looking for
- 3:38Speaker 1: somebody that is smart enough to run this large operation
- 3:42Speaker 1: that we have and to run it efficiently and to
- 3:46Speaker 1: stop the fraud and waste. Mike DeWine, doesn't matter to
- 3:49Speaker 1: me that he's a Republican, is so disappointing in looking
- 3:53Speaker 1: the other way on this stuff. Good riddance to him.
- 3:56Speaker 1: You and I are alike. We don't think that all
- 3:58Speaker 1: Republicans are great when they engage in the kickbacks that
- 4:02Speaker 1: we happen to see with the power company and the
- 4:05Speaker 1: Speaker going to jail or DeWine looking the other way
- 4:08Speaker 1: on some of this kind of stuff. I want accountability
- 4:12Speaker 1: for all of this stuff. I want Vivek and I
- 4:14Speaker 1: want Amy Acton. I have zero reason to vote for her.
- 4:18Speaker 1: She's a far-left progressive that will... hurt the state of Ohio,
- 4:23Speaker 1: in my opinion, like progressives have hurt all of these states.
- 4:27Speaker 1: All of these states that they're in. What do they do?
- 4:30Speaker 1: More social programs? Tax productive people more? We're only going
- 4:34Speaker 1: to tax the rich? It always comes down to you
- 4:37Speaker 1: getting taxed more. It's just nonsense.
- 4:41Speaker 4: You know, you guys, when you were talking with Dave
- 4:43Speaker 4: Thomas yesterday, you know, he hit the nail on the head.
- 4:45Speaker 4: I think you brought it out of him. But, you know,
- 4:48Speaker 4: even if DeWine, this whole reason why he wanted the
- 4:51Speaker 4: fraud to basically go on is because he didn't want
- 4:53Speaker 4: anybody to take the money away from him. He didn't
- 4:55Speaker 4: want any kids to go hungry. They suffer, him, some
- 5:00Speaker 4: of the Democrats, they suffer from this toxic generosity. They
- 5:04Speaker 4: think they're helping somebody, but really what they're doing is
- 5:07Speaker 4: they're hurting others. Think of all the other people that
- 5:10Speaker 4: really truly do need Medicaid. which, like Dave Thomas said,
- 5:14Speaker 4: is way lower than the number that are on there now,
- 5:16Speaker 4: and I think we can all understand that. But don't
- 5:19Speaker 4: you feel for those people? Don't you feel for the
- 5:21Speaker 4: people who get up and go to work every day
- 5:24Speaker 4: and trade their time for money? Don't you feel for them?
- 5:26Speaker 4: I don't want any kid to be hungry, but you
- 5:29Speaker 4: know what? Maybe that's the parent's responsibility.
- 5:33Speaker 1: When I was a kid, it was my dad's responsibility.
- 5:37Speaker 1: When I brought children into the world, it was my
- 5:40Speaker 1: responsibility to as a father. I mean, that's just part
- 5:45Speaker 1: of growing up. It's part of what you stand for,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and it's being a man.
- 5:49Speaker 5: And that's what I mean.
- 5:52Speaker 4: I don't understand, again, so what did they get? 90%
- 5:58Speaker 4: from the federal government to subsidize the state Medicaid, and
- 6:02Speaker 4: then it dropped from 90% to 50%, and they did
- 6:05Speaker 4: nothing with it?
- 6:06Speaker 1: I mean, And keep in mind one other thing that
- 6:09Speaker 1: you didn't bring up. I'll tell you who else was
- 6:12Speaker 1: a lousy governor, and I don't much care for anything
- 6:16Speaker 1: he has to say, and he's a Republican, Kasich. As
- 6:19Speaker 1: he pointed out yesterday, Kasich expanded– a Republican expanded Medicaid
- 6:23Speaker 1: to put people on it that were 25 years old
- 6:27Speaker 1: of work age, and he just expanded the rolls on Medicaid.
- 6:31Speaker 1: And the federal government gave a bonus to do that,
- 6:34Speaker 1: if you will, but the bonus went away and we
- 6:35Speaker 1: were stuck with the program. So he's a Republican and
- 6:40Speaker 1: DeWine's a Republican, and they're both, in my opinion, lousy governors.
- 6:44Speaker 4: And Kasich was neck and neck with Trump in the
- 6:49Speaker 4: 2015 midterms for the Republican nominee. I think everybody forgets Kasich.
- 6:52Speaker 4: It was Donald Trump and Kasich were the last two
- 6:54Speaker 4: in it. So Kasich was just shy of running for
- 6:58Speaker 4: the Republican nominee for president. Who knows what could have happened?
- 7:01Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I mean, it's almost like he's a liberal Democrat. When
- 7:05Speaker 1: the focus isn't on the productive taxpaying citizen and how
- 7:10Speaker 1: much money you're taking from them, and the focus is
- 7:13Speaker 1: only on the people that are receiving the money, your vision,
- 7:19Speaker 1: your priorities are totally messed up.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Here's where things fall short for me, too. You know,
- 7:25Speaker 4: I watched J.D. Vance in Maine yesterday talking about the
- 7:27Speaker 4: fraud and all this, and everybody's clapping and everybody's saying, great, good.
- 7:31Speaker 4: At the end of the day, unless something actually happens
- 7:34Speaker 4: with this, it's a day late and a dollar short.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Because I'm sick of politics. We're going to fight this.
- 7:38Speaker 4: We're going to do this. We're going to get the
- 7:40Speaker 4: job done. Because these Somalis that are coming here, they
- 7:43Speaker 4: are not doing this on their own. There's just absolutely
- 7:46Speaker 4: no way. You don't leave from some third world country,
- 7:49Speaker 4: come over here and cook up this scheme to defraud
- 7:52Speaker 4: the government of billions of dollars. So where's the money going?
- 7:56Speaker 4: They need to find it. They need to arrest these people.
- 7:58Speaker 4: And they need to absolutely throw the.
- 8:00Speaker 6: Book at them.
- 8:01Speaker 4: I mean, you've got Chinese spies being elected mayors. We've
- 8:04Speaker 4: got 40% of Medicaid in our state going to fraud.
- 8:08Speaker 4: I mean, you talk about property taxes. What's the state
- 8:11Speaker 4: take in in revenue? You're $ 100 billion in tax revenue,
- 8:14Speaker 4: and $ 20 billion of it is property tax. Well, if
- 8:17Speaker 4: you fix just a couple billion just based on fraud,
- 8:20Speaker 4: you don't even really need to fix the rest of it.
- 8:22Speaker 4: It'll just figure itself out. And that's where I want
- 8:25Speaker 4: a politician to actually come in and do the job.
- 8:28Speaker 4: And I don't know if it's saying, hey, I'm coming
- 8:30Speaker 4: and I'm running for one term. I'm not running again.
- 8:32Speaker 4: I'm not coming here to make friends. But then guess
- 8:34Speaker 4: what happens? Then you're the rest of your political party. Well,
- 8:37Speaker 4: wait a second. We're not going to support you if
- 8:38Speaker 4: you're only going to do this one time. You know,
- 8:40Speaker 4: we can't get behind you. We're going to pull out money.
- 8:42Speaker 4: So then you can't run. And it's just a vicious
- 8:45Speaker 4: machine that we're stuck in right now. And, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 4: you've got other people calling in. chirping up trying and
- 8:51Speaker 4: all that and they don't really have elections like that
- 8:54Speaker 4: they have fifty-year plan could they don't run in big
- 8:56Speaker 4: terms in four-year cycles and they're not a democracy they're
- 9:00Speaker 4: not a big representative republic so india at moving which
- 9:04Speaker 4: i would just works need to disbelief but that that's
- 9:08Speaker 4: what we're getting off the subject there i just don't
- 9:11Speaker 4: understand again i'll get back to it i really want
- 9:13Speaker 4: to find out why any active even decided to run
- 9:16Speaker 4: for governor it's just the more i think that it's
- 9:18Speaker 4: just it's a strange and bizarre.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I don't know how you would vote for her or
- 9:23Speaker 1: her philosophy or take the state of Ohio in that direction,
- 9:27Speaker 1: even acknowledging we've had disappointments with the Republican speaker and
- 9:32Speaker 1: DeWine in case it could have been disappointments. But in general,
- 9:36Speaker 1: the Republicans have done more to assist you with Dave
- 9:39Speaker 1: Thomas and voting in support of things to get things
- 9:42Speaker 1: accomplished to benefit you on putting guardrails in on these
- 9:48Speaker 1: ridiculous property taxes. The Democrats have not. done any of that.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Any of that at all. Any of it. It's just
- 9:55Speaker 1: like in a commissioner's race. Lauren McNally is a left
- 10:00Speaker 1: leaning liberal Democrat. You think I could vote for her
- 10:03Speaker 1: for commissioner? Absolutely not. So With Christine Oliver talking about
- 10:09Speaker 1: exercising those two options that are available on you, giving
- 10:13Speaker 1: you some relief on your property taxes, to me that
- 10:16Speaker 1: vote is a no-brainer. I mean, why wouldn't you vote
- 10:19Speaker 1: for Oliver over a far-left liberal that, once again, doesn't
- 10:25Speaker 1: think of the productive taxpayer?
- 10:26Speaker 4: I can't disagree with you there. Have you had Dane
- 10:31Speaker 4: Davis on any time recently?
- 10:33Speaker 1: I have not, and I have to do that. I mean,
- 10:36Speaker 1: he's so busy, but remind me next week, and I'll
- 10:40Speaker 1: text him when you're on.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Well, I'm reminding you right now.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Yeah, but I don't want to bug him on a weekend.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Well, write yourself a note.
- 10:47Speaker 1: All right, I'll try to, because I would really love
- 10:50Speaker 1: to hear it. As a matter of fact, I'm going
- 10:53Speaker 1: to do it right now when you're on the phone.
- 10:55Speaker 7: Wait.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Wait a second. You're on the phone right now just
- 10:58Speaker 1: so that you can show. I'm going to show you
- 11:01Speaker 1: that you have Dane Davis right there. Wait a second.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Can you come on show next week? With Denny from Rock.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Can you come on show next week there? I just
- 11:27Speaker 1: text him, okay?
- 11:29Speaker 4: All right, perfect.
- 11:30Speaker 1: All right, so if he comes on, you get the credits,
- 11:33Speaker 1: all right? Because I am curious what he thinks about
- 11:37Speaker 1: what's happening as far as our economy is concerned in
- 11:40Speaker 1: this whole thing. His take would be fascinating.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Interest rates are just, you know, going through the roof again.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Why are they going through the roof again? I don't
- 11:52Speaker 1: understand that, because the Fed... hasn't lowered them or increased them.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I mean, there was talk yesterday about the new Fed guy,
- 12:00Speaker 1: we might have to, not him, saying, well, interest rates,
- 12:04Speaker 1: they could raise it because of inflation. Listen, I'm going
- 12:07Speaker 1: to tell you something. I think you've got to lower
- 12:09Speaker 1: interest rates at this point in time because I think
- 12:11Speaker 1: the economy's got some serious issues.
- 12:12Speaker 4: All right, we'll have Andrew Smith call in while Dane
- 12:17Speaker 4: Davis is on. And then see what he has to
- 12:19Speaker 4: say about that, because I think he would disagree with
- 12:23Speaker 4: you on that one. Because how are we going to
- 12:26Speaker 4: do that? How are we going to lower interest rates?
- 12:28Speaker 4: I mean, I want lower interest rates, but you know
- 12:30Speaker 4: what that's going to do to inflation again? We've got
- 12:37Speaker 4: a problem because we printed so much money. So if anybody,
- 12:41Speaker 4: you know, the new Federal Reserve chairman, I tell you what,
- 12:43Speaker 4: he's coming in a really bad time. And Jerome Powell,
- 12:46Speaker 4: he printed... almost half of our currency since he's been in, uh,
- 12:51Speaker 4: you know, on the fed and he's walking out the
- 12:54Speaker 4: door and he's leaving the next guy holding the bag
- 12:57Speaker 4: because he's walking into a complete disaster. All we're doing
- 13:01Speaker 4: is printing money. And then they get, they get interesting
- 13:03Speaker 4: with it. It's not quantitative easing. They put more on
- 13:06Speaker 4: the bank's balance sheets, you know, they're doing funny things
- 13:09Speaker 4: so that it doesn't look like it's printing money. It's,
- 13:12Speaker 4: It's all a game. It's all a charade. And at
- 13:14Speaker 4: the end of the day, we all get screwed. And
- 13:16Speaker 4: that's why I think Dane Davis could really, he just
- 13:18Speaker 4: does a good job of explaining in simple terms.
- 13:21Speaker 1: So would you agree with this? I agree with that.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Would you agree with this if I lay this scenario
- 13:25Speaker 1: on you? To all of you listening, listen, I think
- 13:28Speaker 1: economically we're in a horrible place right now. And I
- 13:32Speaker 1: think we've had problems ever since COVID, ever since Biden
- 13:36Speaker 1: printing all the money and creating all this inflation. I
- 13:39Speaker 1: think that that has been a problem. And I think
- 13:42Speaker 1: Trump has added to that as a result, whether you
- 13:45Speaker 1: agree or disagree with the situation in Iran, with petroleum
- 13:49Speaker 1: prices and oil going up and inflation coming back as
- 13:53Speaker 1: a result of that. I think economically speaking, we are
- 13:57Speaker 1: in a bad place for many of, are working Americans
- 14:02Speaker 1: because of inflation, because of taxes, and the cost of energy.
- 14:11Speaker 1: So I think we're in a really, really bad place.
- 14:15Speaker 1: And I hate to see..
- 14:16Speaker 2: If.
- 14:19Speaker 1: You would lower interest rates even by a point, I
- 14:21Speaker 1: don't know that... I think that helps people potentially buy
- 14:25Speaker 1: a home and get on with their life. I would
- 14:28Speaker 1: like to see... I would like to see people do
- 14:31Speaker 1: it as opposed to age out and really never achieve
- 14:33Speaker 1: the American dream. Home sales, they're decent here.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Look, in COVID, I refinanced my house at, what, 2.8%
- 14:43Speaker 4: when interest rates dropped 2.5%.
- 14:46Speaker 8: That was great.
- 14:46Speaker 4: You can get a better rate on your mortgage. Well,
- 14:48Speaker 4: what did that do to the price of everybody's home?
- 14:50Speaker 4: It darn near doubled or tripled in some instances. So
- 14:54Speaker 4: that's great if you can get a better term on
- 14:56Speaker 4: your loan for your house, but it's not good if
- 14:58Speaker 4: the house... triples in price.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I'm not so sure that's why it tripled in price.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I mean, there was a lot of demand. But remember,
- 15:06Speaker 1: you had a gazillion people in the country illegally looking
- 15:10Speaker 1: for places to rent and what have you. So there's
- 15:12Speaker 1: many reasons why home prices went up. But if you
- 15:15Speaker 1: look in areas where they went up a lot, like
- 15:17Speaker 1: particularly Florida, they are coming down. It is more of
- 15:21Speaker 1: a Buyer's markets.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Boom, bust like that. Arizona is a big one, too.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Right.
- 15:27Speaker 4: You know, like 2008 financial crisis, they got hit the hardest.
- 15:30Speaker 4: They recovered the fastest. So, you know, there's always going
- 15:34Speaker 4: to be that outlier for all these things. But, man,
- 15:38Speaker 4: I wouldn't want to be the new chairman of the
- 15:40Speaker 4: Federal Reserve starting next week. We might have one other option.
- 15:45Speaker 4: So the Clarity Act passed through the Senate Banking Committee.
- 15:48Speaker 4: Elizabeth Warren, she's just a nasty, vile woman who will
- 15:52Speaker 4: do anything to undermine the American population and do whatever
- 15:56Speaker 4: she can to stay in power. Nasty. She tried to
- 15:59Speaker 4: kibosh the whole thing. Let's go into the Senate now.
- 16:01Speaker 4: So this will be the next big vote. Pass the Senate.
- 16:03Speaker 4: We'll go to Trump's desk. He's hoping and planning to
- 16:07Speaker 4: sign it and have it all done so he can
- 16:08Speaker 4: sign it the morning of the 4th of July. That
- 16:11Speaker 4: might be our only next option. for the money printing
- 16:15Speaker 4: and the interest rates.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Didn't they say Elizabeth Warren was the problem in allowing
- 16:20Speaker 1: JetBlue and Spirit Airlines to merge?
- 16:24Speaker 4: That's exactly right.
- 16:25Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 4: I mean, she's doing everything she can to just undermine
- 16:29Speaker 4: this country, and she's working for the big banks. That's
- 16:32Speaker 4: all she does.
- 16:33Speaker 1: There you go. Thanks, Alec. Appreciate it. 522. I'll be
- 16:36Speaker 1: right back.
- 16:37Speaker 2: 0570 WKBN.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Ron Verb, NewsRadio 570 WKBN from the Kingdom of Mahoning,
- 16:43Speaker 1: and you're on the air.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Hi, Ron.
- 16:45Speaker 6: Do you need anything answered? I just called to tell
- 16:49Speaker 6: you we have a great weekend.
- 16:52Speaker 1: You have such words of wisdom to share with all
- 16:55Speaker 1: of us, need I ask?
- 16:59Speaker 6: Well, I don't know. I mean, we have a money leak.
- 17:03Speaker 6: It's clear in Ohio and Minnesota and California. Like, all
- 17:08Speaker 6: our politicians magically get rich.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Can you imagine how much of your tax dollars... are
- 17:15Speaker 1: really just wasted and fraud on a federal, state, and
- 17:19Speaker 1: even local level. How much of your money is mandatorily
- 17:22Speaker 1: taken from you and you're screwed as a result of
- 17:27Speaker 1: all of that? I mean, just think about it. It
- 17:31Speaker 1: would be better off in your pocket for you to
- 17:33Speaker 1: spend as opposed to the fraud that you'll see going
- 17:38Speaker 1: on on all these levels. It's very sad.
- 17:41Speaker 6: I mean, they're just taking it out of the country, too.
- 17:44Speaker 6: I'm serious about we have a money leak. Like, you know,
- 17:51Speaker 6: it's a ship and it's leaking.
- 17:53Speaker 1: It's like no one cares because it's your tax dollars.
- 17:57Speaker 1: That's the problem. That's the problem. How do they all.
- 18:03Speaker 6: Get rich, Ron?
- 18:06Speaker 5: Really?
- 18:06Speaker 7: Well, I don't know.
- 18:06Speaker 1: You answer that for me. How do two hillbillies from Arkansas,
- 18:10Speaker 1: when they leave the presidency, become filthy, stinking rich? The Clintons.
- 18:13Speaker 1: How does a community organizer from Chicago become filthy, stinking
- 18:18Speaker 1: rich when he leaves office? I mean, I understand why
- 18:21Speaker 1: Trump's wealthy, because he went into office wealthy. How did
- 18:24Speaker 1: Joe Biden become so wealthy when his whole life he
- 18:27Speaker 1: was just a Joe public servant? How did he become
- 18:31Speaker 1: so wealthy? You answer that question for me. How does
- 18:33Speaker 1: that happen?
- 18:34Speaker 5: Yes.
- 18:35Speaker 6: And all of Congress.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Nancy Pelosi. And the rest of them with the
- 18:40Speaker 1: insider trading.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Yeah, everybody.
- 18:43Speaker 6: I mean, it's just amazing. That's why I said it's
- 18:47Speaker 6: so hard to sit and listen to any talk that
- 18:50Speaker 6: doesn't say, you know, arrest these people, stop it, whatever
- 18:58Speaker 6: it has to do, now. Like, not now. some innocuous
- 19:02Speaker 6: year after I die or now.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, not the typical in five years from now,
- 19:09Speaker 1: which is the next term and all that kind of stuff.
- 19:12Speaker 1: I'm with you on that.
- 19:13Speaker 6: Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 19:14Speaker 1: Here's my question for your great insight, the guru of Gerard.
- 19:19Speaker 1: That's you, the guru of Gerard. Here's my question. Give
- 19:22Speaker 1: me your assessment. What are your thoughts about the situation
- 19:27Speaker 1: going on in Iran right now?
- 19:34Speaker 6: Look, I have the Roman philosophy on war. Avoid war
- 19:43Speaker 6: at all costs. But if you're going to go to war,
- 19:47Speaker 6: total destruction, whatever it takes to win the war. Because
- 19:51Speaker 6: you started a war.
- 19:54Speaker 2: It's a war.
- 19:56Speaker 6: So either fight it or get the hell out. Because
- 20:00Speaker 6: if you don't, this happens.
- 20:03Speaker 1: And when you say this happens, you mean this of
- 20:06Speaker 1: what we're watching right now?
- 20:08Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, I mean, I think he talks way
- 20:13Speaker 6: too much about it. It's like about what he is,
- 20:18Speaker 6: how he's in charge of him. I think he talks
- 20:22Speaker 6: way too much about it. I'm not saying that he
- 20:25Speaker 6: didn't initially do a good job, and he's done a
- 20:30Speaker 6: lot of things that I appreciate. But on the war,
- 20:33Speaker 6: I mean, dude, you just got to shut up and
- 20:35Speaker 6: do your thing.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Stand by. Just stand by. Stand by. I'll pick up
- 20:40Speaker 1: my conversation with Michael. And more of your calls. We're
- 20:43Speaker 1: here until 630 tonight. Ron Ferb, NewsRadio 570, WKVN on
- 20:47Speaker 1: a Friday afternoon. NewsRadio 570, WKVN, WKVN. All right, so
- 20:54Speaker 1: let me back up. Do you think this situation, he
- 20:58Speaker 1: should have got into this mess in the first place?
- 21:01Speaker 1: Yes or no?
- 21:02Speaker 2: No.
- 21:03Speaker 7: No.
- 21:04Speaker 1: All right, so you think it was a mistake from
- 21:05Speaker 1: the beginning. So now give me your assessment as to
- 21:08Speaker 1: where it is right now and what you think is,
- 21:13Speaker 1: where are we now?
- 21:15Speaker 6: Well, I think we need to end it violently because
- 21:21Speaker 6: this is, now we're getting in the same thing that
- 21:24Speaker 6: happened in Afghanistan. Oh, come in, you know, guns blazing,
- 21:27Speaker 6: doing good.
- 21:29Speaker 7: Oh, now we're really going to.
- 21:30Speaker 6: Have to kill someone. Oh, okay, so let's wait for
- 21:32Speaker 6: 20 years and spend $ 20 trillion and play a political war.
- 21:39Speaker 6: Same thing we did in Vietnam. Like I said, the Romans,
- 21:48Speaker 6: they avoided war. They came in and said, we want
- 21:50Speaker 6: to run the place. You said no, they go, okay,
- 21:54Speaker 6: then we're going to kill everyone. And they would, and
- 21:57Speaker 6: they had the power to do it, and they did it,
- 21:59Speaker 6: and it was bad, but then they walked in the
- 22:01Speaker 6: next place, they go, we want to run the place.
- 22:02Speaker 2: They go, okay.
- 22:06Speaker 6: And I don't know, you know, remember you asked me
- 22:09Speaker 6: when I started, do I think we even should have
- 22:12Speaker 6: been there? No, I think, I don't think that I,
- 22:15Speaker 6: I'm not a big Israel fan of their foreign policy
- 22:19Speaker 6: and their war policies. And I think they get involved
- 22:22Speaker 6: in way too much us stuff.
- 22:25Speaker 2: So that's me.
- 22:26Speaker 6: I said it, I said that way earlier, but now
- 22:30Speaker 6: we're here for whatever reason, you know, the milk already spilled. So,
- 22:36Speaker 6: Are you going to clean it up, or are you
- 22:37Speaker 6: just going to let it fester? Because, Ron, you know,
- 22:42Speaker 6: I don't drive anywhere right now. I get, like, cans
- 22:47Speaker 6: of soup and peanut butter sandwiches for lunch. You know,
- 22:51Speaker 6: just because I don't know what's coming next. And if
- 22:55Speaker 6: that's me doing that, you know me. I mean, I've
- 22:57Speaker 6: done pretty good. Imagine what other people are doing, how
- 23:01Speaker 6: they're contracting out of the economy, how dangerous that's going
- 23:04Speaker 6: to be to everything.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. I agree. Go ahead. I'm listening.
- 23:13Speaker 6: Well, you know, he said, that's all I'm thinking about
- 23:15Speaker 6: is the atomic bomber.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Okay.
- 23:17Speaker 6: Atomic bomber. Okay.
- 23:19Speaker 7: Donald, then do it.
- 23:21Speaker 6: Don't come back and tell me what an amazing deal
- 23:23Speaker 6: we had. And I'm not sure who I'm talking to.
- 23:26Speaker 6: And then they take over ships. You know, there was
- 23:29Speaker 6: no Navy and they took over a ship. What'd they
- 23:33Speaker 6: do that with?
- 23:34Speaker 7: Dings? Like, You know what I mean?
- 23:37Speaker 6: Just shut up and play war or come home. That's
- 23:45Speaker 6: the way I feel.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Thanks for it. Appreciate it, Michael. Appreciate your insights. Guru
- 23:51Speaker 1: from Gerard. You're on the air. Wait a minute. Wait
- 23:54Speaker 1: a minute. Let me do this. There we go. I've
- 23:57Speaker 1: got to do this the right way. All right. You're
- 23:58Speaker 1: on the air.
- 24:00Speaker 7: Are you there?
- 24:01Speaker 1: Yes.
- 24:02Speaker 6: Okay.
- 24:03Speaker 3: First thing I can tell you that you were talking
- 24:08Speaker 3: about COVID earlier. I know somebody that worked in with
- 24:14Speaker 3: a mortician and those big clots that they were finding
- 24:18Speaker 3: in people.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:19Speaker 7: That is true. Absolutely true.
- 24:22Speaker 3: I have no doubt in my mind this person would
- 24:25Speaker 3: never lie to me. They told me yes because I
- 24:28Speaker 3: specifically asked them.
- 24:30Speaker 6: Okay.
- 24:31Speaker 3: The second thing is um... the democrats don't care about
- 24:37Speaker 3: all the people with are feeding the children you know
- 24:41Speaker 3: helping you know legal and everything that back the only
- 24:46Speaker 3: come from their ticket because of this and fed and
- 24:49Speaker 3: their account for congress so they get more congress coverage
- 24:54Speaker 3: if they have illegal county even if they don't vote
- 24:59Speaker 3: okay you know I was listening.
- 25:03Speaker 7: To a couple things.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Oh, the other thing is the liberals always, always, always
- 25:09Speaker 3: bring up Donald Trump and the Epstein files. And I
- 25:14Speaker 3: can tell you right now, Trump never did anything in
- 25:19Speaker 3: that direction. And the reason why you can say that
- 25:22Speaker 3: he never did is because if it was there... They
- 25:27Speaker 3: would have found it.
- 25:29Speaker 7: They would have used it years ago.
- 25:31Speaker 3: They would have had it all over the news stations
- 25:35Speaker 3: and everything.
- 25:36Speaker 7: They keep saying it, but it's a big fat lie.
- 25:39Speaker 3: It's one of those Nancy Pelosi things. Tell the lie
- 25:43Speaker 3: often enough. Get it into the media.
- 25:45Speaker 7: They'll believe it's true. So they just need to shut
- 25:48Speaker 7: up about Trump and.
- 25:49Speaker 3: The Epstein files because, you know, it doesn't even.
- 25:53Speaker 7: Make any sense.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Do you think, though, do you think The focus should
- 25:57Speaker 1: be about the victims of this and that anybody that
- 26:02Speaker 1: participated in it, whether Republican or Democrat, should be brought
- 26:06Speaker 1: to justice.
- 26:08Speaker 7: Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 26:11Speaker 3: But, you know, they sat on it for four years
- 26:13Speaker 3: when Biden was in office. They never did a thing
- 26:15Speaker 3: about it. And the only thing that they will say
- 26:18Speaker 3: when they talk about the Epstein file is Trump's not
- 26:22Speaker 3: putting anything out because there's something there on him. which
- 26:27Speaker 3: is absolute crap, like I said, because if they had it.
- 26:31Speaker 7: Oh, my God, they'd have been shot from the mountains
- 26:34Speaker 7: years ago. You know what I mean? So, but, yeah,
- 26:37Speaker 7: I believe, you know, sure.
- 26:39Speaker 3: You know, and there's a lot of powerful men, and
- 26:42Speaker 3: it's both the Republicans and the Democrats. There's a lot
- 26:45Speaker 3: of powerful men that don't want that to come.
- 26:48Speaker 7: To light because they're there.
- 26:50Speaker 6: Right.
- 26:51Speaker 7: See? So, you know, they're fighting it every step of
- 26:54Speaker 7: the way, I'm sure. I agree.
- 26:58Speaker 1: And that's not right. I mean, it's pretty creepy that
- 27:01Speaker 1: you're a grown man and you want to engage in
- 27:04Speaker 1: sex with a 14 or 13-year-old girl. I don't care
- 27:10Speaker 1: if you're Prince Andrew or if you're Bill Gates or
- 27:12Speaker 1: you're Bill Clinton or you're Howard Lutnick or any of
- 27:15Speaker 1: the people whose names are out there, not saying they
- 27:18Speaker 1: did or they didn't, but it certainly should be looked into.
- 27:20Speaker 1: And if you did, then you should certainly be prosecuted
- 27:23Speaker 1: for it. and held accountable for it. But the problem
- 27:29Speaker 1: with the whole Epstein thing is it seems like people
- 27:32Speaker 1: are upset, and justly so, that there's a double standard
- 27:35Speaker 1: of justice. I mean, the criticism of Trump is Trump
- 27:38Speaker 1: kind of reversed himself on what he said he would
- 27:40Speaker 1: do when he was running, and ultimately, for whatever reason,
- 27:44Speaker 1: he seemed to reverse himself very quickly by saying, oh,
- 27:47Speaker 1: you're worried about that? That's old news. I find that
- 27:52Speaker 1: very troubling that he did that. Just as I think
- 27:55Speaker 1: he reversed himself on a situation going on with Iran
- 27:58Speaker 1: because he said, we don't want to get involved in
- 28:01Speaker 1: foreign entanglements and regime change wars in the Middle East.
- 28:05Speaker 1: And all of a sudden he changed that philosophy that
- 28:08Speaker 1: he ran on very quickly. Now, many people think it's
- 28:13Speaker 1: maybe in both these cases that these decisions were influenced
- 28:17Speaker 1: by Netanyahu.
- 28:20Speaker 3: I don't think it was influenced by Netanyahu. I think
- 28:23Speaker 3: it was influenced by Trump getting told things that we
- 28:27Speaker 3: have no clue about. And if Iran is so close
- 28:33Speaker 3: to having a nuclear weapon, then I think if Trump
- 28:37Speaker 3: knows that, he doesn't want to alarm people. But he
- 28:41Speaker 3: has been told, and so he knows there's no waiting now.
- 28:46Speaker 3: The other thing is everybody says, well, he's given in,
- 28:49Speaker 3: he's given in, he keeps putting the data. That man
- 28:52Speaker 3: is not dumb. He's gathering information. If they have weapons
- 28:59Speaker 3: that are still there, what he's doing is he's got
- 29:02Speaker 3: people figuring it out by watching them and seeing what's
- 29:07Speaker 3: going on.
- 29:08Speaker 7: And if they.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Start up again, he's going to go in and just
- 29:12Speaker 3: like he did the first time, all their... Bombs and
- 29:15Speaker 3: munitions and stuff, it's going to be wiped out. He's
- 29:19Speaker 3: not stupid, you know.
- 29:21Speaker 7: People think he is, but he's not. He plays chess.
- 29:24Speaker 7: He doesn't play checkers.
- 29:25Speaker 1: All right. I got you. Thank you for your call.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Appreciate it. NewsRadio 570. Before I take my next call,
- 29:33Speaker 1: I find this interesting. I pass it along to you.
- 29:35Speaker 1: After Angelo Craig failed to pay $ 620, a $ 620 property
- 29:40Speaker 1: tax bill, Cuyahoga County officials began the legal process of
- 29:44Speaker 1: seizing his house. The same was true when Angela Taylor
- 29:48Speaker 1: owed $ 4, 655 against her house in Shaker Heights and Abraham
- 29:50Speaker 1: David $ 3, 384 debt in Cleveland court records show. The county
- 30:00Speaker 1: eventually won title to all three homes via legal action
- 30:05Speaker 1: in county court. Remember, as I said, if you fall
- 30:08Speaker 1: behind paying your property taxes, and these aren't huge amounts,
- 30:12Speaker 1: the county can take your house from you. You might
- 30:15Speaker 1: have lost your job. You might have gotten sick. And
- 30:18Speaker 1: as they continue to have these property taxes escalate, it's
- 30:21Speaker 1: very troubling. So anyway, this is leading to a class
- 30:24Speaker 1: action lawsuit against the county treasurer's office claiming the county
- 30:28Speaker 1: unconstitutionally took their money. They aren't challenging the foreclosure themselves. Rather,
- 30:34Speaker 1: they say the county won title to houses that are
- 30:37Speaker 1: worth more than the tax debt, yet the ex-homeowners aren't
- 30:40Speaker 1: being compensated. The Ohio Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to
- 30:45Speaker 1: take up their challenges, meaning arguments about a hot-button political
- 30:49Speaker 1: issue of property taxes could come before the court in
- 30:52Speaker 1: an election year. This practice of taking surplus equity violates
- 30:57Speaker 1: both the takings clause and the excessive fines clause of
- 31:02Speaker 1: the Ohio Constitution. Those are the words of Ben Flower,
- 31:05Speaker 1: an attorney for the plaintiffs and a former solicitor general
- 31:08Speaker 1: for Ohio Attorney General. Yet this unconstitutional and unconscionable practice
- 31:14Speaker 1: is widespread in Ohio. And courts, including the 8th District below,
- 31:19Speaker 1: allowed it to persist. State law allows counties to foreclose
- 31:23Speaker 1: on homeowners who fail to pay their property taxes. From there,
- 31:27Speaker 1: they can auction the houses, take the money they're owed,
- 31:31Speaker 1: and pass on any surplus. But in all three plaintiffs' cases,
- 31:35Speaker 1: the house didn't sell. The auctions, cash-only affairs, failed to
- 31:41Speaker 1: clear the modest legal minimum sale amounts of between $ 12, 000
- 31:46Speaker 1: and $ 27, 000. A county spokesperson denied to comment on pending
- 31:51Speaker 1: litigation or provide data on the county's home foreclosure practice.
- 31:56Speaker 1: The plaintiffs say the county has seized thousands of homes
- 31:59Speaker 1: in this fashion. Property records show that Craig of Cleveland
- 32:05Speaker 1: bought the house for $ 5, 500 in August 2021. The average
- 32:10Speaker 1: sale price that year was $ 155, 000. County officials by that
- 32:15Speaker 1: point had already filed a case in Cuyahoga County Court
- 32:18Speaker 1: of Common Pleas to foreclose on the property. The plaintiffs
- 32:21Speaker 1: filed their lawsuit June 2024. They lost in trial court
- 32:25Speaker 1: and again at the 8th District Court of Appeals. From here,
- 32:28Speaker 1: justices will determine the timing of written and oral arguments
- 32:32Speaker 1: before making a ruling. So there you go. I mean,
- 32:35Speaker 1: you know, so these people's homes were taken from them,
- 32:37Speaker 1: as they say, because of property taxes for small amounts.
- 32:41Speaker 1: And then they lost everything. Interesting. All right. Onward we go.
- 32:47Speaker 1: You're on the air. Hello. Ronnie. Vince, go ahead.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Ronnie, can I give a shout-out today?
- 32:56Speaker 1: Yeah, what do you want?
- 32:58Speaker 7: A shout-out.
- 32:59Speaker 2: You know a shout-out.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Yeah, you want a long-distance dedication? I mean, what am I,
- 33:02Speaker 1: turning into Casey Kasem? You want a long-distance dedication?
- 33:06Speaker 2: It's a shout-out locally.
- 33:08Speaker 1: All right.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you, thank you to the Austintown trustees.
- 33:13Speaker 2: In 32 years of living at this street, you know
- 33:16Speaker 2: where we live, Ronnie. First time the street's been paved.
- 33:20Speaker 2: 32 years, all my Austintown taxes, finally our street got paid.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to tell you something. If you want
- 33:30Speaker 1: to give a shout-out, give a shout-out to Pat Giannetti
- 33:33Speaker 1: because of that quarter percent sales tax is where a
- 33:36Speaker 1: lot of this paving money is coming from to be
- 33:39Speaker 1: able to do streets in the township.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Pat's a good guy. I'll vote for him two or
- 33:45Speaker 2: three times.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Well, luckily, that sales tax was renewed. It's an important tax.
- 33:51Speaker 1: And I'm glad your street got paved before you departed Earth.
- 34:00Speaker 2: I was going to say something nice. Now you can
- 34:02Speaker 2: get your truck in and off the street without avoiding
- 34:07Speaker 2: the trucking truck hole.
- 34:08Speaker 1: There you go.
- 34:09Speaker 2: I'll retract that statement.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Well, I'm just making an observation. You're not a spring
- 34:14Speaker 1: chicken anymore.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Thank you. Thank you. But the other thing, Ronnie, has
- 34:22Speaker 2: Dick from Dayton, has he made that hopeful not call today? Please, Dick,
- 34:28Speaker 2: if you're listening.
- 34:29Speaker 1: He made it.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Play your banjo.
- 34:30Speaker 1: He made it.
- 34:31Speaker 6: Play your harp.
- 34:32Speaker 1: He made it. He made the call.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Stomp your leg.
- 34:36Speaker 1: He made the call.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Did he call?
- 34:37Speaker 1: Yes.
- 34:38Speaker 5: No.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Why? Do you think it jinxes the Cavs because he called? Yes.
- 34:45Speaker 1: So you think Dick from Dayton is a jinx?
- 34:50Speaker 2: I truly do. Now I'm going to have to call
- 34:53Speaker 2: Mickey the bookie and change my bet. We were going
- 34:57Speaker 2: to go with the Cavaliers tonight. You know what, Ronnie?
- 35:01Speaker 2: I'm going with them. No matter Dick from Dayton, you
- 35:05Speaker 2: put the Malookie on us. But anyhow, let's go the
- 35:10Speaker 2: other way, and we're going to go with the Cavs
- 35:12Speaker 2: today because I'm dressed in Cavalier colors.
- 35:15Speaker 1: And I bet they make your eye gold and white.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I bet it makes your eyes pop.
- 35:20Speaker 2: My one good eye?
- 35:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, that was the one that you aimed that
- 35:28Speaker 1: rifle at.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Yeah, the one I aimed that rifle at, yes.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Right.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Anyhow, Ronnie, the other thing, too, you know, with all
- 35:36Speaker 2: this abundance of, what do we call it down in Columbus,
- 35:39Speaker 2: the rainy day fund? Yes, yes. Multitudes and multitudes of money.
- 35:43Speaker 2: I got a great idea for your more intelligent callers
- 35:47Speaker 2: out there. No, don't call in the guy from Warren, please.
- 35:50Speaker 2: You don't fit that category. But anyhow, couldn't the governor
- 35:57Speaker 2: and some of his posse down there say, hey, let's
- 36:01Speaker 2: reduce the taxpayers' property tax. We're going to divert some
- 36:06Speaker 2: of this $ 2 billion into each. How many counties are there, Ronnie? No,
- 36:12Speaker 2: there's 88. Maybe divert some of that bountiful money to
- 36:17Speaker 2: the counties to relieve the taxes that we have to pay. Right.
- 36:23Speaker 1: You're talking about the Somalian fraud. Well, listen, have I
- 36:29Speaker 1: announced that I've just recently opened Ron's Hospice Care, Ron's
- 36:34Speaker 1: Learing Center. and Ron's Transportation Center. I mean, I figure
- 36:38Speaker 1: if the Somalis can do it and get away with
- 36:41Speaker 1: it in Ohio, why can't I? Forget giving me any
- 36:45Speaker 1: relief on my taxes. I mean, Ron's Learing Center is
- 36:49Speaker 1: now open and Ron's Hospice Care. If you need anything, well,
- 36:53Speaker 1: we just take the money. We don't really provide any services.
- 36:56Speaker 1: You understand?
- 36:58Speaker 2: Yes. You know what I don't understand? You know, I
- 37:03Speaker 2: know you get out and about, but you mainly stay
- 37:05Speaker 2: in the township and everything. You don't get out into
- 37:08Speaker 2: the inner city. You don't get out to the hinterlands
- 37:11Speaker 2: and stuff like that. But what I always couldn't understand,
- 37:15Speaker 2: these kids that drop out of high school, we'll use
- 37:18Speaker 2: the present East High School. You're in high school. You
- 37:21Speaker 2: drop out for whatever reasons. And then the most crowded
- 37:24Speaker 2: parking lot when I go up 422 is that, not
- 37:30Speaker 2: vocational school, but that school that gives out the GEDs.
- 37:34Speaker 2: You got to pay to go to that school. You
- 37:37Speaker 2: had free education at the other school. Sometimes I just
- 37:41Speaker 2: don't know if these kids realize that you drop out
- 37:45Speaker 2: and then you scurry, get into one of these places
- 37:48Speaker 2: to give you the GED. GED, you're not, you know,
- 37:53Speaker 2: obviously you're not thinking with that part of the brain
- 37:56Speaker 2: that gives you the intelligence.
- 37:59Speaker 1: But remember this, Ron's Learing Center will give you that
- 38:02Speaker 1: GED for half the cost of what the other place is,
- 38:05Speaker 1: and you'll be done in no time.
- 38:08Speaker 2: That's why when all those guys said, no, let's not
- 38:13Speaker 2: hire him, old man William Winston said, hey, I think
- 38:16Speaker 2: this kid got a chance in radio. We'll take a
- 38:18Speaker 2: chance on this young upstart from over there from– Medina.
- 38:24Speaker 2: We'll give them a chance. We'll give them a chance
- 38:26Speaker 2: on the radio. Then you have to go in front
- 38:29Speaker 2: of the old man. If he liked you, if you
- 38:31Speaker 2: think you had a cut in your jib, if you
- 38:34Speaker 2: look good, he hired you. If not, we'll see. We'll
- 38:38Speaker 2: give you a call. Good luck.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Listen, it's going to be celebrating a hundred year anniversary
- 38:44Speaker 1: of WKBN radio coming up this year, coming up this
- 38:47Speaker 1: later this year. And I want you to think about this.
- 38:50Speaker 1: I've been on it for 41 years. Almost. Up to 100.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Up to 100, yeah. So that's a lot of years,
- 38:58Speaker 1: isn't it? All right.
- 39:00Speaker 2: All right, we'll see you, bud.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Thanks. News Radio 570, WKBN and Ron Verb. We'll pause here.
- 39:06Speaker 6: It's 5.52.
- 39:06Speaker 1: With you until 6.30 tonight, the Guardians. Pre-game around 635,
- 39:15Speaker 1: and we take on the Reds with the first pitch
- 39:17Speaker 1: a little after 7, so keep it right here. Back
- 39:19Speaker 1: in a minute. 570 WKBN. All right, let me get
- 39:25Speaker 1: some calls on. I think G2' s standing by. I want
- 39:27Speaker 1: to look at my phone board, too. We want to
- 39:28Speaker 1: get him on. But first, you're on the air.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Hey, Ron, how are you? Good.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Go ahead, please.
- 39:36Speaker 7: Good.
- 39:36Speaker 5: Hey, first, real quick, who is the guy who said
- 39:39Speaker 5: to text Dane Davis?
- 39:42Speaker 1: Alec, which I did, and he potentially will be on
- 39:46Speaker 1: maybe next Friday.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Okay.
- 39:48Speaker 5: For this to be a alec i i he's one
- 39:51Speaker 5: of the reasons why i started looking to show he's
- 39:53Speaker 5: a brilliant guy i think he had.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Points are fantastic he's hard to thank you.
- 39:57Speaker 5: For having him on uh... moving on though the guy
- 40:01Speaker 5: who just was on the show talking about he said
- 40:04Speaker 5: that he we shouldn't have started the war with iran
- 40:07Speaker 5: but now we should finishing violently what what are your
- 40:10Speaker 5: thoughts about that i think.
- 40:12Speaker 1: That i think when we get involved in conflicts is
- 40:15Speaker 1: a reason why we don't win we've been we uh...
- 40:18Speaker 1: we We have made it difficult to win wars with
- 40:21Speaker 1: all the rules that are there. I don't know if
- 40:23Speaker 1: today we would have the political courage. I mean it
- 40:26Speaker 1: was the atomic bombs that brought Japan to surrender and
- 40:31Speaker 1: many people– Innocent people died as a result of it,
- 40:36Speaker 1: but that's what it took to save American lives. So,
- 40:39Speaker 1: in general, I agree.
- 40:42Speaker 5: I think it's ironic that he said in the end
- 40:44Speaker 5: something about Netanyahu and Israel controlling American policy, but in
- 40:48Speaker 5: the same sentence, I would probably bet that that guy would...
- 40:51Speaker 5: blame Israel for what they're doing in Gaza and Lebanon,
- 40:54Speaker 5: fighting Hamas and Hezbollah. You know, the party line is
- 40:58Speaker 5: they need to show restraint, civilian casualties, but at the
- 41:02Speaker 5: same time he's saying, well, now that we started a
- 41:04Speaker 5: war with Iran, it has to end violently. So that's
- 41:08Speaker 5: just funny. His argument is internally inconsistent because you can't
- 41:13Speaker 5: claim that you shouldn't have got into it, but then
- 41:15Speaker 5: now we need to end it violently, which presumably I
- 41:19Speaker 5: think that he would say that we should. You know,
- 41:22Speaker 5: continue the 1979 policy of sanctions, diplomacy, and containment, which
- 41:27Speaker 5: just hasn't worked. Iran has been holding the world hostage
- 41:30Speaker 5: via the Strait of Hormuz for the last 47 years. So,
- 41:33Speaker 5: I mean, his arguments are just completely inconsistent.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Well, that's all well and good, but I mean, I
- 41:39Speaker 1: agree with his point. There's a reason why we haven't won, because...
- 41:42Speaker 1: We have too many rules put down. I mean, when
- 41:45Speaker 1: you get involved in things, I think his main point
- 41:47Speaker 1: was then he didn't agree with it and he doesn't
- 41:50Speaker 1: agree with it, but it doesn't matter. It's already underway.
- 41:53Speaker 1: And he thinks now you have to do what you
- 41:56Speaker 1: have to do to be successful in the outcome of it.
- 42:01Speaker 1: And I don't know that we have the political courage
- 42:03Speaker 1: that we had that we saw in World War II
- 42:05Speaker 1: to save American lives.
- 42:07Speaker 5: Amen, amen. I completely agree with that. The other thing
- 42:14Speaker 5: about Iran that I think we missed is that the Shah,
- 42:18Speaker 5: which was a Western-backed leader of Iran who was very Western-friendly,
- 42:28Speaker 5: he was overthrown by an Islamic revolution that was popular
- 42:35Speaker 5: by the people of Iran.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Right.
- 42:37Speaker 5: And the people of Iran overthrew him. And so nowadays
- 42:42Speaker 5: we hear a lot about, oh, the Iranian people aren't
- 42:45Speaker 5: a fan or don't support the Islamic regime. We need
- 42:49Speaker 5: the Iranian people to overthrow them. You know, they're the
- 42:52Speaker 5: exact same people, maybe their children, who overthrew the Western-backed government.
- 42:57Speaker 5: They chose that Islamist government that took over, the Ayatollah.
- 43:02Speaker 5: So this idea that the... And also, we know from
- 43:05Speaker 5: history that... If the people revolt and there's a revolution,
- 43:11Speaker 5: the power is with the people. The people always win,
- 43:13Speaker 5: and they haven't won in Iran. And so it makes
- 43:16Speaker 5: you question, really, how many of these people and what's–
- 43:20Speaker 5: it's so hard to know what's propaganda.
- 43:22Speaker 1: And what's really happening on the ground there.
- 43:23Speaker 5: That is correct.
- 43:24Speaker 1: How many actually would do that, and it's hard to
- 43:27Speaker 1: launch that when you have no weapons. Appreciate your call.
- 43:30Speaker 1: I'll be back in a minute.
- 43:34Speaker 9: From ABC News. I'm Mike Dabusky. President Trump is about
- 43:39Speaker 9: to return to the White House after his trip to
- 43:41Speaker 9: China and his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping this week.
- 43:45Speaker 9: ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent Mary Bruce.
- 43:48Speaker 10: Questions remain about what progress was made here. The president
- 43:52Speaker 10: came to Beijing hoping to convince Xi to use his
- 43:55Speaker 10: influence over Iran, one of China's closest allies, to open
- 43:59Speaker 10: the Strait of Hormuz.
- 44:00Speaker 1: We did discuss Iran. We feel very similar to Iran.
- 44:04Speaker 1: We want that to end.
- 44:06Speaker 10: But it's unclear if she agreed to pressure Iran.
- 44:10Speaker 9: The conflict in the Middle East is continuing to put
- 44:12Speaker 9: a strain on prices here at home, with global oil
- 44:15Speaker 9: prices closing the week up 3% on worries about a
- 44:18Speaker 9: prolonged market shock if the strait remains shut down. Celia
- 44:22Speaker 9: Monreal is a mother of five in Tyler, Texas, and
- 44:24Speaker 9: says she's feeling the pinch at the pump and at
- 44:27Speaker 9: the grocery store.
- 44:28Speaker 3: I guess the way that he sold, that he was
- 44:30Speaker 3: going to better the economy.
- 44:33Speaker 10: I voted for Donald Trump, which I regret doing, which, like,
- 44:38Speaker 10: a lot of people regret doing.
- 44:39Speaker 9: The CDC now says all the Americans who were on
- 44:42Speaker 9: board that Dutch cruise ship that saw the hantavirus outbreak
- 44:45Speaker 9: in recent weeks are now all being held at the
- 44:47Speaker 9: National Quarantine Unit in Nebraska. Two were transferred from Georgia today.
- 44:51Speaker 9: ABC News medical contributor Dr. Alok Patel says none of
- 44:55Speaker 9: the Americans are symptomatic. But a French woman is now
- 44:58Speaker 9: in critical condition in the hospital.
- 45:00Speaker 8: Hantavirus can affect your heart, your lungs, and your kidneys.
- 45:03Speaker 8: So treatment may involve mechanical ventilation, artificial bypass machines to
- 45:08Speaker 8: protect the lungs and the heart. That's something called ECMO,
- 45:10Speaker 8: which some people may refer to as an artificial lung.
- 45:13Speaker 8: That's fluids. That's blood pressure support. That's everything to protect
- 45:16Speaker 8: those vital organs.
- 45:18Speaker 9: Meanwhile, the CDC also tracking an outbreak of Ebola in
- 45:21Speaker 9: the Democratic Republic of Congo. And Colorado Governor Jared Polis
- 45:24Speaker 9: has granted clemency to Tina Peters, the former county clerk
- 45:27Speaker 9: convicted in an election fraud scheme in 2020. You're listening
- 45:31Speaker 9: to ABC News.
