Believe it or not, you know, we're not always on the same side. This time, actually, we were actually. So we're gonna skip our little head-to-head matchup. That's something we'll do in future segments. But for week zero, we're going to be 100% aligned. So we want to walk through. All games, we're picking one straight bet for each. So whether it's, you know, a spread, a a point total, ⁓ we're kind of keeping it simple. We'll kinda walk through what we like and ⁓ yeah, let's fucking just get right into it. I'm putting my dick on the table for this one. I I don't know, I just like I I'm with you. I have zero faith in in Bill Belchek, I think. This has nothing to do about his NFL career, one of the best ⁓ to ever do it, phenomenal. But you pick a ⁓ a school like UNC and you bring the energy you had from the NFL. San Jose State, minus thirty-eight and a half. ⁓ over under was fifty-eight and a half at open or fifty-seven and a half. Now it moved to sixty and a half. So it's and we were just looking at this. I think ninety-one percent of the money is on the spread in this game, which is fucking crazy. Fade or Follow: Fifty seven and a half. It's climbed f three points. It's moving. Jacob Bunce: But I'll I'll lead us off for this one. I think USC is one of those teams that has one of the most to prove this year. I think they're going to come out hot. San Jose San Jose State's not gonna know what hit them. And I feel like laying the 38 and half. ⁓ I you know, I in the first half, I think I think they're up thirty, honestly. And even if they make adjustments and slow down the game, San Jose State really doesn't have much of an offense to keep up with them. So Fade or Follow: No, for sure. And yeah. No, I agree. It's like no yeah, I know I I'm with you. And I think just addic kind of c adding on to that is USC has added a ton of defensive pieces this year and they are looking to be kind of more of a balanced football team as opposed to winning games forty to thirty eight. They're gonna start looking to s try to slow actually slow people down and actually try to win some of these games like in dominating fashion. And I think Lincoln Riley Jacob Bunce: Go ahead. That's that's kind of my take on the game, yeah. Fade or Follow: being on the hot seat as ho as as firmly as he is, he's gotta he's gotta come out hot and then their schedule does not get easier. So it he th they've gotta win the games that they're supposed to they've got to win the games they're supposed to win and win them convincingly. Because there's a if there's a strong s there's a s really realistic situation. Like if Lincoln Raleigh doesn't make the playoff with this US C roster that has with as much investment they put in, he could be gone from this job, you know? So that like he's Jacob Bunce: They gotta come out hot. They got yeah. Easy. Fade or Follow: This is not a season to fuck around for Lincoln Riley. Jacob Bunce: Especially if you're like, okay, granted, let's say they don't cover, but let's say they win by thirty. Like that's still a a pretty demanding victory, I would say. Actually, funny enough, I was leaning one direction and my boy over here kinda talked me off the cliff. NC State plus five and a half first Virginia. ⁓ Grant, why don't you take this one away? I like I love getting these points. ⁓ North Carolina and NC State, the Wolfpack last year was kind of a sleeper team for a lot of people that didn't quite materialize. Like they had a lot of really close games. They were CJ Bailey at quarterback for them is an absolute weapon. ⁓ and they're br bringing back a lot of the same pieces. They're bringing back several starters from both sides of the co s both sides of the ball. ⁓ and Virginia is completely rebuilding around Bo Prabula. They lost Chandler Morris last year because he didn't want to they didn't want to let him play for seventh years. So they are so ch seven years is core seven years playing college quarterback is crazy. And so I just I think getting five and a half in this spot I think is just kind of a I don't want to call it a gift, but I feel like it's a really Jacob Bunce: Are you talking about Virginia has a bunch of old old heads coming in? Did you say Virginia or NC State has a bunch of old heads coming in? Yeah, yeah. There a lot of us in their secondary too, isn't it? Fade or Follow: good way to get involved because I don't even if Virginia wins this game, I don't think they win it by more than a touchdown. I think they win it I think they win it tight and I think CJ Bailey has a lot to prove he's like he could and this V No exactly. It's like Yeah. It's like and and honestly if Bo Probula was like that guy, he would have been starting at Penn State for a while now. You know what I mean? Like he would have and he was still like I granted they brought in the Iowa State people, but Jacob Bunce: Yeah. It's not like they have a lot of offensive weapons either, you know what I mean? It's not like they're so Fade or Follow: If Bopper Buhler was that guy, he would have started at some point in his college career instead of just being a career backup. So give me the five and a half with NC State in this one, 'cause I think it's gonna be close and I think ⁓ NC State could win this game outright. Jacob Bunce: Yeah. I agree. Yeah. I mean you just talking through that again made me even more confident that ⁓ I don't want my money on Virginia. So I think NC State's the way to go. Plus five and a half. Fade or Follow: Yeah. And Virginia and hey vr and this isn't a season long fade Virginia spot. This is just a week zero brand new team, brand new quarterback, all of that coming together. Like I just think th they're not in a position to blow this team out. So I think this is more of a a spot pick. I think Virginia still could be good down the road, but right now I I'm not that confident. Jacob Bunce: Yeah. All right. North Dakota State versus Jacksonville State. ⁓ North Dakota State's favorite seven. I mean, listen, if you're out on Saturday putting money on Jacksonville State, I think you need to call the the one eight hundred number. I I think I think that North Dakota State has a huge home field advantage. I think they are just a a very physical ⁓ football program. Fade or Follow: Yeah, absolutely. Jacob Bunce: And I think they're a team that's kind of built to control possession again especially against these types of organizations where, you know, I I couldn't name more than two people on Jacksonville State. So I, you know, giving North Dakota State minus seven, I think they just wear them out and, you know, keep them keep them kind of clawing back or trying to claw back. You know, I I just I I feel pretty good about this one too. I don't think I really have much more to say. This is one of those games that just kinda jumped out to me on the board and Fade or Follow: Mm-hmm. Jacob Bunce: I feel confident about it, but I don't know. Do you have anything else you wanna touch on? Fade or Follow: Yep. Yeah, I've got yeah, absolutely. So Jacksonville State last year had a running back named Cam Cook. He was one of the best running backs in the country. Absolute absolute monster. ⁓ he was the he was the heart and soul of their offense. they were and he made them look all I think he covered up for a lot of weaknesses at the quarterback position. ⁓ Caden Creel is coming back for them. He can run like a he can run like a motherfucker, but Jacob Bunce: Hun percent. Fade or Follow: He can't really throw that well. So I think ⁓ while the Jacksonville State's still gonna have some pieces, I I'm really leaning into more of the emotional angle of this one because North Dakota State is their first they've been dominating the FCS like ⁓ for the longest time. They've been basically the patriots of the FCS for a long time. Like they were in there they were only there for like five si five, six years they were only there like ten, fifteen years. But they were ⁓ after year six, they were dominant. So ⁓ they're moving up to the FBS level now and this is their first game of that FBS and I think they're gonna come out storming. I think they're ready to make a point, ready to say, We belong here, we are with y we are on your level and I think this Jack like this kind of weekend Jacksonville state team is a great way to get and like to make that statement and say, Hey, we are here, we are ready to roll, and I think this is just a great spot to get the new kid on the block at a decent number. Jacob Bunce: Know why, but your breakdown of that just got me so fucking hyped, dude. ⁓ my god. I just wanted to run through a brick wall for some reason. I think out of all the underdogs, you know, minus the one we already talked about, Hawaii. I mean, I love this one in NC State. I think Memphis plus four and a half is is where we lean. ⁓ I think this is another game that's tight. It could be another one where Fade or Follow: Yes. Jacob Bunce: You know, it ends up like thirty one twenty eight win by a field goal. ⁓ I don't know. Like this would be the the the one I'm least surprised if Memphis just wins outright. No, Charles yeah, no, I think right now UNLV, like, they have gotten so much love this off season and right now like Memphis lost their coach in Ryan Silverfield who went ⁓ where did he go? Yeah. They lost their coach Ryan Silverfield to Arkansas. ⁓ But they bring in Brian Huff, who came from Southern Mist, who had them playing way over their skis, way over their heads. And honestly, I think he's a just as good of a coach. ⁓ and I think there's still a lot of talent on this Memphis roster. And I think they keep this game close. I think the love for UNLV. Fade or Follow: has gotten so far out so far ahead of itself and like UNLV lost both of its starting wide outs last year from last year that really made their offense more dynamic. ⁓ Dan Mullen is still the coach, so still good ⁓ still good coaching, but and Jacob Bunce: I think the biggest y yeah, I think the biggest if or what could get Memphis in a tough spot is if UNLV establishes the run game here. I think I mean no I mean I know that's you know, you can say that against any any program, but I think if they can control them and not have too many breakouts I I I I think that's like the biggest thing that we really have to worry about, ⁓ to be honest with you.
