- 1:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, we're so funny because our management was
- 1:48Speaker 1: being like, guys, no one does this, like the show
- 1:52Speaker 1: is the gift, and we're like, no, we must give back,

- 2:04Speaker 1: More details to come soon, but we will be having
- 2:07Speaker 1: solo Chick mixes at every city, so before the show,
- 2:11Speaker 1: we'll share like a destination like a pub or something
- 2:15Speaker 1: where you can go and meet a bunch of other
- 2:17Speaker 1: solo chicks that are going to the show. Don't worry,
- 2:19Speaker 1: we have team captains who are chicks that have volunteered
- 2:23Speaker 1: to be the extrovert of the evening. Yep, and we'll
- 2:26Speaker 1: be wrangling and helping everyone meet each other, but very fun.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I love that we're doing this because there have been
- 2:33Speaker 1: so many messages that we've been getting being like, oh
- 2:35Speaker 1: my god, I've never gone to an event solo before
- 2:37Speaker 1: and I'm finally doing it.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Because of this, and I can't wait.
- 2:40Speaker 1: So oh my god, what if someone like met They're like,
- 2:42Speaker 1: they're made of honor, I know, like their lover.
- 2:45Speaker 2: It's going to be such a fun night.
- 2:47Speaker 3: I can't wait and really excited to bring it to
- 2:49Speaker 3: Melbourne and bris Vegas.
- 2:51Speaker 2: And Adelaide and Perth. We know, we hear you.
- 2:54Speaker 1: We couldn't make it work this time, but don't worry
- 2:56Speaker 1: in the future one thousand percent.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Yeah we'll be there.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Okay, Salehundro. What is your obsession of the week?
- 3:03Speaker 3: Okay, My obsession of the week is something that I
- 3:06Speaker 3: saw on TikTok shock.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah, a real live version of the holiday. Have you
- 3:13Speaker 2: seen this? I saw someone posting about this, Yes, yes, yes, Okay.
- 3:17Speaker 3: So there's this girl, Lahani and she lives in New
- 3:21Speaker 3: York and she posted a TikTok being like who wants
- 3:23Speaker 3: to do an apartment swat with me, And she found
- 3:26Speaker 3: someone named Marie who lives in London and they have
- 3:29Speaker 3: notting Hill and they've done.
- 3:31Speaker 2: An apartment swap.
- 3:32Speaker 3: So Marie's gone to New York, Lahani's gone to London
- 3:36Speaker 3: and they're documenting the entire process.
- 3:39Speaker 2: And it is the most wholesome, beautiful piece.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Of content because, yes, of course, like they've gone on
- 3:45Speaker 3: a holiday essentially, but because they're living in somebody else's house,
- 3:49Speaker 3: it's almost like your cosplaying living in a city. And
- 3:52Speaker 3: that's kind of the vibe that I'm getting, And it's
- 3:55Speaker 3: just so cute, like seeing the everyday little pieces of
- 3:58Speaker 3: joy that they have, trying a new cafe or visiting
- 4:01Speaker 3: a new thrist shop and just encompassing that new way
- 4:05Speaker 3: of life.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's such a nice obsession to have
- 4:08Speaker 1: with this episode as well, because it's like maybe watching
- 4:11Speaker 1: that can show you all the little things that you
- 4:14Speaker 1: can do, like trying a new cafe or going to
- 4:16Speaker 1: a different suburb to go thrifting or whatever it is
- 4:19Speaker 1: that can make you live your holiday fantasy.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Yeah, if you could do it the holiday anywhere in
- 4:25Speaker 3: the world, where would you do it?
- 4:30Speaker 2: Probably like Dublin.
- 4:34Speaker 1: That would be so good and like a Christmas obviously, oh.
- 4:38Speaker 2: My god, yeah, that would be the drain. Oh imagine
- 4:44Speaker 2: and it's like.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I just really evaporate like the Avengers click, like goodbye.
- 4:53Speaker 2: That's it reached my final form.
- 4:55Speaker 3: You also know that like a winter Christmas market in
- 4:57Speaker 3: Dublin would go the fuck off?
- 5:00Speaker 1: Did you see? Tanamojo liked one of our tiktoks, which
- 5:03Speaker 1: one the Christmas one? No worry?
- 5:07Speaker 2: Oh my god, Arianna, what are you doing? But say
- 5:12Speaker 2: you are good? Yeah, she's looking for a new podcast
- 5:15Speaker 2: to join. I know third Broke Chick. Let's go. Oh
- 5:20Speaker 2: my god. She's like, I like one TikTok. You fucking
- 5:23Speaker 2: will leave me alone. No, you're obsessed. I'm like coming
- 5:28Speaker 2: to astro.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that. Okay, what's your obsession?
- 5:31Speaker 1: My obsession of the week is a hatch alarm clock.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Doup Oh so I saw a chicky posting about this
- 5:39Speaker 1: on TikTok. I'll tag her below and I am signed, sealed, delivered,
- 5:46Speaker 1: sold like I've bought it and I'm going to do
- 5:48Speaker 1: a full review. But the hatch alarm clock has been
- 5:52Speaker 1: one of those viral products that You've seen every man
- 5:55Speaker 1: and their dog talking about and I just truly couldn't
- 5:58Speaker 1: really grasp how incredible this clock was. Whenever you see
- 6:02Speaker 1: those posts of people being like, what's the one thing
- 6:04Speaker 1: that changed your life? Without a doubt, the Hatch alarm
- 6:08Speaker 1: clock is in those comments.
- 6:10Speaker 3: It's always on there, except this motherfucker is like four
- 6:13Speaker 3: hundred dollars.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I can't justify that. It's on Amazon.
- 6:17Speaker 1: And it's literally just called the Sunrise Alarm Clock White
- 6:20Speaker 1: Noise Machine, and it has a natural wake up light,
- 6:24Speaker 1: a dimmable clock with a Bluetooth speaker, and it also
- 6:28Speaker 1: has twenty five sleep sounds, and you can actually change
- 6:33Speaker 1: the light on it to be like a natural light,
- 6:36Speaker 1: a red light, a blue light.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Like red light's supposed to help you fall asleep quicker.
- 6:41Speaker 1: And it also like mimics the natural sunrise so that
- 6:44Speaker 1: it kind of helps with your circadian rhythm.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, like waking up.
- 6:48Speaker 1: It has one to thirty levels of sunrise brightness, and
- 6:52Speaker 1: the sunrise duration can go from five.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Minutes to sixty minutes, so you can do like a
- 6:58Speaker 2: real slow duration. It also has bluetooth activity if you
- 7:02Speaker 2: want to play music in the morning.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that because I've been saying a lot
- 7:06Speaker 3: as well, people buying like radio alarm clocks to play
- 7:09Speaker 3: music in the morning.
- 7:10Speaker 2: So if you could do that, like that would be
- 7:12Speaker 2: so sick.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Yeah. You can get it in like a beige color,
- 7:16Speaker 1: a green color, and also a pink color. And it's
- 7:21Speaker 1: eighty nine to ninety nine. It's less than one hundred dollars. Wow,
- 7:24Speaker 1: compared to the mortgage you would have to take out
- 7:27Speaker 1: to get that.
- 7:28Speaker 2: And the Hatch alarm clock in Australia. Yeah, I was
- 7:30Speaker 2: gonna say, And to get the hatch alarm clock in
- 7:33Speaker 2: Australia it's kind of hard, really hard, and it's really expensive.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll give you guys an updated review on it.
- 7:39Speaker 1: But that is, without a doubt, my obsession of the week.
- 7:43Speaker 2: I love that.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I also have another obsession that I saw a podcast
- 7:46Speaker 1: talking about how leggings are apparently out.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah I saw this too.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Yeah, apparently leggings are now the millennial core at the
- 7:55Speaker 1: gym and like jen Z where trackies and shit, I
- 7:59Speaker 1: can't get behind that.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Yeah you'd get too hot, Yeah, you get too hot.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Tracksuit pants are not for working out. Like I think
- 8:06Speaker 3: we've evolved from that to get to leggings, like that's
- 8:09Speaker 3: one place.
- 8:10Speaker 2: It's a pendulum.
- 8:11Speaker 1: It'll swing back and forth, Like, just give it another
- 8:15Speaker 1: couple of years and with Jen Alpha, they'll be the leggings.
- 8:19Speaker 2: It's just yeah, totally.
- 8:21Speaker 3: But in terms of functionality, wearing a tracksuit pant unless
- 8:24Speaker 3: it's cinched on the ankle, is not gonna work like
- 8:27Speaker 3: you have like your pant like falling down while you're
- 8:30Speaker 3: doing like leg raisors and shit, which is like maybe
- 8:33Speaker 3: the biggest dick.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Do you know what?
- 8:36Speaker 1: What I'm wearing to the gym, whatever's clean, whatever is
- 8:41Speaker 1: maybe on the floor, and I've.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Got easy access to when I go, ea, that'll do.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Sometimes it's what I wanted the gym the day before.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I'm not afraid to admit it. Yeah, because that's the
- 8:51Speaker 2: real me, because that's who I am.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Anyway, now we've got our positions out of the way,
- 8:56Speaker 1: let's get into the episode five plus ways to have
- 9:00Speaker 1: a good day every Day backed by Science, And I
- 9:04Speaker 1: wanted to give a little bit of a spiel to
- 9:07Speaker 1: start us off on why you can truly have a
- 9:11Speaker 1: good day every day by choice and that you do
- 9:16Speaker 1: have a lot more control over this than you might think.
- 9:19Speaker 1: You do, And it's actually a psychological term called your
- 9:25Speaker 1: locus of control.
- 9:27Speaker 2: So your locus of control.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Is the belief in how much your actions shape your
- 9:32Speaker 1: life and like the world around you and what happens.
- 9:36Speaker 1: So the idea of a locus of control comes from
- 9:39Speaker 1: psychology and refers to how much a person believes they
- 9:42Speaker 1: can shape the events in their life. It is essentially
- 9:45Speaker 1: about whether someone feels their choices and actions truly influence
- 9:49Speaker 1: what happens around them. How much of a locus of
- 9:53Speaker 1: control do you feel you have?
- 9:57Speaker 3: Honestly, I feel like it ebbs and flows, yes, from
- 10:00Speaker 3: day to day, depending on how I feel. But I
- 10:04Speaker 3: do notice that when I sort of like pause for
- 10:08Speaker 3: a second and say, like that's out of my control.
- 10:11Speaker 3: I can leave that, or like I can do this
- 10:13Speaker 3: one thing and I know that will make me feel better.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Like I literally did that this morning by putting on
- 10:18Speaker 3: I was like kind of feeling a little bit flat,
- 10:20Speaker 3: and then I was like, no, I want today to
- 10:22Speaker 3: be a good day. So I put on the throwback
- 10:25Speaker 3: Thursday and like.
- 10:26Speaker 2: What was it? It's a good one.
- 10:29Speaker 3: So it actually was. The title was can you guess
- 10:32Speaker 3: what it is? And I'm pretty sure it's that every
- 10:36Speaker 3: song title is a question.
- 10:38Speaker 2: So it's just like it was so cool.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, So like then I was like, I just
- 10:44Speaker 3: had a little dance while I made my coffee and
- 10:46Speaker 3: made my toes and like ripped open my boyfriend's office
- 10:49Speaker 3: store and like danced and like made him like get involved.
- 10:53Speaker 2: And then I was like, okay, bye, like again, I'm
- 10:55Speaker 2: done until I needed get out. But anyway, answer your question,
- 10:59Speaker 2: I feel like it. It kind of flows ebbs and flows,
- 11:02Speaker 2: and that's okay.
- 11:03Speaker 1: That's a good way to also understand that, you know,
- 11:06Speaker 1: these things aren't like set and done, you know. But
- 11:11Speaker 1: people with strong internal locus of control are convinced that
- 11:15Speaker 1: their efforts directly affect their outcomes, and then because of
- 11:19Speaker 1: this belief, they often experience lower stress levels, higher confidence,
- 11:24Speaker 1: and even better overall health because they're capable of steering
- 11:28Speaker 1: their circumstances and their mood, which helps complete the motivation
- 11:33Speaker 1: that comes with the trajectory of joy. On the other hand,
- 11:37Speaker 1: individuals with external locus of control tend to view life
- 11:41Speaker 1: as something that simply happens to them. Yeah, so it's
- 11:45Speaker 1: shaped by like fate or chance or other people's decisions.
- 11:49Speaker 1: And I love the idea of like fate and a
- 11:52Speaker 1: chance and like magic and blah blah blah blah blah.
- 11:54Speaker 2: I don't I.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Don't ever want to feel like those things don't exist
- 11:58Speaker 1: like that, you know, and that's.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Like like per like and you know, everyone's different.
- 12:02Speaker 1: But having an external locus of control can often create
- 12:09Speaker 1: greater anxiety, frustration, and a tendency to blame external forces
- 12:13Speaker 1: for setbacks. It can kind of be that person that
- 12:17Speaker 1: maybe it pops into your mind that they're always a victim. Yeah,
- 12:19Speaker 1: everyone's always mean to them, like this has happened to them,
- 12:23Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Nothing's ever
- 12:26Speaker 1: their responsibility in their control. Life is simply happening to them,
- 12:30Speaker 1: And over time it can trap you if you have
- 12:33Speaker 1: this thought process in a cycle of powerlessness, that reinforces
- 12:38Speaker 1: the idea that you never had control in the first place,
- 12:41Speaker 1: which is never a situation that we want to be in.
- 12:43Speaker 1: So exactly like what you did this morning, The best
- 12:46Speaker 1: thing about things like this is becoming aware that they exist.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So being like, okay, like now I know what locus
- 12:52Speaker 1: of control is. I can recognize when or if it's
- 12:56Speaker 1: happening within my life. I think knowing that what so,
- 13:00Speaker 1: what it is is a good way to like what
- 13:02Speaker 1: you're saying. How this morning you were like, h vibe shift, yeah,
- 13:08Speaker 1: the violu. I'm waiting for the day to happen to me.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I'm not going off to experience the day, so let's
- 13:15Speaker 1: switch that, erase it.
- 13:17Speaker 3: And it reminded me, or relates to a tip that
- 13:20Speaker 3: I saw when I was doing research for this episode,
- 13:23Speaker 3: and it's from a TikTok creator whose name is Catherine,
- 13:26Speaker 3: And I'll link the TikTok in the show notes, but
- 13:28Speaker 3: this particular post got seven hundred and seventy seven thousand likes.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Lucky.
- 13:35Speaker 3: I'll have to look at what the angel number is
- 13:37Speaker 3: for seven seven seven, but yeah, lucky number. But yeah,
- 13:40Speaker 3: So obviously this resonated with a lot of people. And
- 13:42Speaker 3: in this TikTok she said the best skill you can
- 13:45Speaker 3: develop is to figure out how to stay in a
- 13:47Speaker 3: good mood. And she talked about how it's not about
- 13:51Speaker 3: ignoring your problems. You still need to acknowledge your problems
- 13:55Speaker 3: and any chaos that's happening in the day, but recognizing
- 13:58Speaker 3: you can still have a good day, bad moments in it.
- 14:01Speaker 3: So this isn't like toxic positivity, being.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Like every day is the perfect day, but.
- 14:06Speaker 3: At least trying to go into it being like, overall,
- 14:08Speaker 3: this is going to be a good day, and I
- 14:10Speaker 3: know that there's maybe gonna be a couple of setbacks
- 14:13Speaker 3: or not so fun moments in it. Yeah, and having
- 14:15Speaker 3: that sense of stoicism which allows you to let go
- 14:20Speaker 3: of those things that you can't control and embrace the
- 14:22Speaker 3: things that you can.
- 14:24Speaker 2: So yeah, I really loved that.
- 14:26Speaker 1: As I'm getting older, the more I stop believing in
- 14:29Speaker 1: the idea of woke up on the wrong.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Side of the bed.
- 14:31Speaker 1: M I think it's potentially just an excuse to like
- 14:36Speaker 1: winge or moan or focus on the negative. And I
- 14:40Speaker 1: think just waking up and being grumpy and just saying
- 14:44Speaker 1: I woke up on the wrong side of the.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Bed is just like the shittest excuse.
- 14:48Speaker 1: And there's it just is such a waste of time,
- 14:53Speaker 1: like you know, because exactly what you're saying, like the
- 14:57Speaker 1: fucking annoying moments are gonna happen, the spanner is going
- 14:59Speaker 1: to get thrown.
- 15:01Speaker 2: You might as well duck, dip, dive, duck.
- 15:03Speaker 1: And dodge, you know, like if you are going to
- 15:06Speaker 1: go through every single day with the hope that there's
- 15:09Speaker 1: no spanner. You've got to wake up and realize you're
- 15:12Speaker 1: in a toolshit, you know there's gonna be a spanner.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Just pick up a hammer, you know. I don't know
- 15:20Speaker 1: where my fucking metaphors come from, like it, and they
- 15:23Speaker 1: scare me. I definitely was let someone's dad.
- 15:26Speaker 2: And for sure, which I love. But the average.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Person is awake for approximately sixteen to eighteen hours per day, right,
- 15:38Speaker 1: how depressing would it be to realize you were spending
- 15:41Speaker 1: sixteen hours straight not having a good time. Yeah, you know,
- 15:45Speaker 1: like sixteen hours criticizing the way that you look, sixteen
- 15:50Speaker 1: hours stressing whether or not some loser has like texted
- 15:53Speaker 1: you back, sixteen hours stressing about a three pm meeting
- 15:56Speaker 1: with a boss that you don't even respect. You know,
- 15:59Speaker 1: Like the greatest gift we have is free will and
- 16:03Speaker 1: the fact that you can choose how you want to
- 16:06Speaker 1: spend that sixteen to eighteen hours a day, And the
- 16:09Speaker 1: easiest choice in that is to choose to have a
- 16:11Speaker 1: good time. Obviously, there's going to be moments where less
- 16:15Speaker 1: than vibe, But I do think we have this tendency
- 16:19Speaker 1: to focus on things that we could probably let go
- 16:21Speaker 1: of a lot.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Quicker than we do. Yeah, of course.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:25Speaker 3: And I think as well, like it's important to acknowledge
- 16:27Speaker 3: we're not talking about when people are experiencing genuine depression
- 16:32Speaker 3: and mental health issues, but also acknowledging that you don't
- 16:35Speaker 3: have to have a bad day every day, and if
- 16:37Speaker 3: you feel like that you are then perhaps part of
- 16:42Speaker 3: reshaping that is looking into maybe booking an appointment with
- 16:45Speaker 3: your GP and talking about how you're feeling, or looking
- 16:48Speaker 3: into mental health plan options and things that you can
- 16:51Speaker 3: do to feel better, Because I think if you have
- 16:54Speaker 3: always felt like that, and you wake up like that
- 16:56Speaker 3: every day and you do have that sense of.
- 16:59Speaker 2: But that like me, That's what I'm saying exactly.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that was me like four years ago, five years ago,
- 17:05Speaker 1: and you think it's just then every day I.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Just was like today's not my day.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Was literally in the pits of like probably some of
- 17:13Speaker 1: the most hardcore depression ever. It was so hard to
- 17:16Speaker 1: pull myself out of those moods and it would just
- 17:19Speaker 1: stay like hooked on these things.
- 17:20Speaker 2: And absolutely I agree.
- 17:22Speaker 1: And I think it is really important to say that
- 17:24Speaker 1: sometimes you do need help being able to steer your
- 17:27Speaker 1: brain away from it, and I think that's really good
- 17:30Speaker 1: to acknowledge.
- 17:31Speaker 2: But I also wanted.
- 17:33Speaker 1: To share this because if you are feeling like that,
- 17:35Speaker 1: it's not forever and that like you do have more
- 17:39Speaker 1: control and choice and it's like a muscle. The more
- 17:43Speaker 1: that you decide, okay, do you know what? That's less
- 17:46Speaker 1: than ideal. But I'm not going to get too deep
- 17:48Speaker 1: on it now and I'm not going to focus on that.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I'm going to do this instead, and I'm going to
- 17:51Speaker 2: try to shake it off. You'll probably like a yo yo,
- 17:56Speaker 2: go back.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Like it's like when you meditate right like, which I
- 18:00Speaker 1: don't do that often. This is the example of whenever
- 18:03Speaker 1: you go to like a meditation teacher, they always say
- 18:04Speaker 1: like people go, oh, I overthink, I overthink, I can't concentrate,
- 18:08Speaker 1: and it say like, that's okay, that's what that.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Happens to everyone.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that it's like when you start thinking about something
- 18:14Speaker 1: to slowly bring yourself back to focusing on calm and relaxation.
- 18:18Speaker 1: That's kind of the outlook that I have with a
- 18:22Speaker 1: good day mentality or I'm gonna have a good day mentality.
- 18:25Speaker 1: That it's like when that spanner happens when the shitty
- 18:28Speaker 1: thing happens when I'm not having a good day, that's
- 18:30Speaker 1: okay to sit with it, but try to pull it
- 18:33Speaker 1: back to the Okay, I've acknowledged it.
- 18:37Speaker 2: We're there and I'm going to move on. Next one
- 18:41Speaker 2: hit me.
- 18:43Speaker 3: My next tier is to set a daily mission statement,
- 18:46Speaker 3: So for me personally, and.
- 18:50Speaker 2: What's your daily mission statement? Aware of this.
- 18:52Speaker 3: My daily mission statement was actually to be in a
- 18:56Speaker 3: good mood today. So gonna try to do whatever I
- 19:01Speaker 3: can to keep that, keep that gun, keep that keep
- 19:06Speaker 3: keep the Vibesaldro vibes exactly like it. Yeah, but I
- 19:11Speaker 3: do think you can relate it back to anything like
- 19:13Speaker 3: it could be something broad like that, or it could
- 19:15Speaker 3: be in relation to work or like life admin or
- 19:18Speaker 3: something fun that you want to do. Like really, you
- 19:21Speaker 3: can cater it to whatever you want however you feel.
- 19:24Speaker 3: But for me personally, and like Al is very aware
- 19:27Speaker 3: of this as well, that for me, if I'm having
- 19:29Speaker 3: a bad day a lot of the time, it's because
- 19:31Speaker 3: there's like a lot going on and I feel out
- 19:34Speaker 3: of control of like a bunch of different plates that
- 19:37Speaker 3: we're spinning, or you know, whether that's like we've got
- 19:41Speaker 3: you know, some social things happening, and then I'm like,
- 19:42Speaker 3: oh shit, I've got to do this at home, and
- 19:44Speaker 3: you know, there's just a lot going on. So I
- 19:46Speaker 3: think that focusing on a single daily mission statement can
- 19:51Speaker 3: give you that north star to be like, as long
- 19:54Speaker 3: as I can achieve this one thing, then I'm in
- 19:57Speaker 3: control and it can be fun or it can be productive,
- 20:01Speaker 3: it can be whatever you want it to be.
- 20:03Speaker 2: I did see a study about multitasking.
- 20:06Speaker 3: And how that really does negatively impact you, even on
- 20:10Speaker 3: a long term as well as just in a single day.
- 20:13Speaker 2: So apparently task switching can cost up to.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Forty percent of your productive time due to the cognitive
- 20:19Speaker 3: load of moving between tasks.
- 20:23Speaker 2: So I think a lot of us we have to multitask.
- 20:26Speaker 2: It's just part of life. Es actually, like mums exactly,
- 20:30Speaker 2: you know, we're not even there. We don't even have children.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I imagine we would puzz away literally.
- 20:37Speaker 3: So I am also saying that I know that this
- 20:39Speaker 3: is like a privilege, and oh.
- 20:41Speaker 1: But everyone that's not me saying that, like anyone who
- 20:43Speaker 1: doesn't have kids can't be stressed, you know, like everyone
- 20:47Speaker 1: is in their own pond with their own fishes, were
- 20:51Speaker 1: in a.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Pond where are we going to go next?
- 20:54Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I'm excited like the magic fucking school bus. Bitch, yes
- 20:57Speaker 2: with the freeze, no.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Love.
- 21:02Speaker 3: So while multitasking may feel like it's more effective and
- 21:05Speaker 3: more productive, it actually can result in significant time loss
- 21:10Speaker 3: and significantly reduce your productivity on the task that you're
- 21:13Speaker 3: working on. And this same article also found that prolonged
- 21:18Speaker 3: multitasking can result in brain hyperactivity that even has connections
- 21:23Speaker 3: with people who do experience anxiety and depression. So I
- 21:28Speaker 3: think that we all have very busy lives. It's very
- 21:33Speaker 3: unlikely that every single day we just have one task
- 21:36Speaker 3: on our list and that's all we have to do.
- 21:39Speaker 3: But I do think that setting a daily mission statement
- 21:42Speaker 3: can help you focus at least most of your energy
- 21:45Speaker 3: on one thing, so that even when you go to
- 21:48Speaker 3: bed at night, you know, well, I achieved that and
- 21:52Speaker 3: that's what I set out to do today. Everything else
- 21:55Speaker 3: was nice to have, And that can help you regain
- 21:58Speaker 3: some focus and clarity on what you should be concentrating
- 22:00Speaker 3: on that particular day.
- 22:02Speaker 1: I like that, and I do think that ties into
- 22:04Speaker 1: this multi casking self improvement productivity crack drug that like
- 22:11Speaker 1: is literally all over the internet.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Of like my.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Five to nine before my nine to five and my
- 22:16Speaker 1: five to nine out of the nine to five, and
- 22:17Speaker 1: then the tho when do you go to bed?
- 22:19Speaker 3: Literally like the five to nine, then the timestamp TikTok
- 22:23Speaker 3: of your day and then you're five to nine, Like,
- 22:25Speaker 3: oh my god.
- 22:26Speaker 1: That's how I know my algorithm has gotten confused. Whenever
- 22:31Speaker 1: it's one like a gym bro and he's like doing
- 22:34Speaker 1: his like protein at for him, and I'm like, are
- 22:36Speaker 1: you lost?
- 22:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Like, there's some Australian TikTokers especially who do this, and
- 22:41Speaker 3: I love it because they're actually funny and they're not
- 22:44Speaker 3: based on.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Yeah, like being super productive.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Like it genuinely seems like a timestamp version of their
- 22:50Speaker 3: day and they have moments where they're like it'll be
- 22:52Speaker 3: like three point thirty talking shit and stuff like that.
- 22:56Speaker 2: So I'm like, I actually do love that or love
- 22:58Speaker 2: love that shit, and it's just a each to their own.
- 23:01Speaker 1: I don't want to yuck people's young, yeah, and like
- 23:03Speaker 1: that's also respect, you know, just not for me. Yeah,
- 23:07Speaker 1: the Virgos and capricauns out there, Okay. My next tip
- 23:13Speaker 1: on how to have a good day is get dressed.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah, So you might have seen this doing the
- 23:20Speaker 1: round as well.
- 23:21Speaker 2: But recent video from Nara Smith on the.
- 23:23Speaker 1: J Shatty podcast has gone viral for saying that she
- 23:27Speaker 1: doesn't own sweatpants and that.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Could never be me. Yeah.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Again, each to their own, but it did kind of
- 23:38Speaker 1: tie into this whole narrative around like getting dressed for
- 23:42Speaker 1: the day and how like getting dressed is like this
- 23:44Speaker 1: boundary point and to that I do understand to a degree, right, So,
- 23:50Speaker 1: social psychologists suggests that what we wear is more than
- 23:53Speaker 1: just fabric on our bodies, but an extension of who
- 23:56Speaker 1: we are, and simply putting on clothes can trigger a
- 23:59Speaker 1: men shift that influences mood and outlook. And I do
- 24:03Speaker 1: think we got quite a strong understanding.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Of this during the Pea years.
- 24:10Speaker 1: But it's actually a phenomenon called enclosed cognition. So it
- 24:16Speaker 1: highlights how clothing doesn't just sit on the surface but
- 24:18Speaker 1: shapes our psychological state, because your outfit can alter the
- 24:23Speaker 1: way that you think and behave not only because of
- 24:25Speaker 1: its appearance, but how it feels against your skin, and
- 24:29Speaker 1: how the very act of getting dressed is a ritual
- 24:32Speaker 1: that impacts your mindset.
- 24:35Speaker 2: And I was like absolutely, yeah, like that is so true.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Like if I.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Wake up and I don't get changed and I sit
- 24:43Speaker 1: in my pajamas until.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Like midday, I feel like a sluggy piece of shit. Yeah.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Same, Like I do not feel like I've had that
- 24:53Speaker 1: like mental switch in my brain that I'm like, oh,
- 24:55Speaker 1: like the days here, the sun is shining, the coffee
- 24:58Speaker 1: is flung through my veins, the.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Tank is cleaned.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, the tank is clean in there,
- 25:06Speaker 1: like getting dressed in the morning is a the tank
- 25:09Speaker 1: is clean vibe. But true, if you don't get it,
- 25:12Speaker 1: get out finding NEMO for everyone who is not cool.
- 25:17Speaker 2: But yeah.
- 25:18Speaker 1: So this idea stems from the broader theory of embodied cognition,
- 25:22Speaker 1: which proposes that our physical actions like slipping into an outfit,
- 25:28Speaker 1: can shape mental processes just as much as our thoughts
- 25:31Speaker 1: influence what we do. So it really, it sounds so obvious,
- 25:36Speaker 1: and I know that, but it truly.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Is such an important step in the process.
- 25:43Speaker 1: And also being able to maybe put an extra ten
- 25:47Speaker 1: minutes five minutes into your morning routine to think, Okay,
- 25:51Speaker 1: what do I want to wear tomorrow? That's going to
- 25:52Speaker 1: make me excited because I know whenever I especially when
- 25:56Speaker 1: we're going into the office, like every single day when
- 25:59Speaker 1: I was wearing something that I was like, yeah, I
- 26:02Speaker 1: like what I'm wearing.
- 26:03Speaker 2: That was a good day. It was it was a
- 26:04Speaker 2: good day.
- 26:05Speaker 3: It improves the day by at least thirty percent.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Oh, I wou'd even go ahead and say it's.
- 26:13Speaker 2: A good outfit. Some good undies that changes.
- 26:19Speaker 1: That changes everything, because you know how like when you
- 26:21Speaker 1: get to the end of your washing and it's like, oh,
- 26:24Speaker 1: this is left. Those ones are so uncomfortable, and it's
- 26:30Speaker 1: like the ones that look like the Spider Man mask.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Fully like a yeah, yeah, it's always that.
- 26:38Speaker 3: No, I completely agree, And I don't know that the
- 26:41Speaker 3: Naira Smith comment like kind of made me be like
- 26:44Speaker 3: and because I've heard that before, I can't remember there
- 26:46Speaker 3: was some fashion designer.
- 26:48Speaker 2: It was either like Tom Ford or Carl Lagerfeld or
- 26:51Speaker 2: some yeah.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Yeah who said that like tracksuit pants are the epitome
- 26:57Speaker 3: of giving up or something like that. But I do
- 27:00Speaker 3: you think that you can pick an outfit that makes
- 27:02Speaker 3: you feel confident and makes you feel like yourself and
- 27:04Speaker 3: be comfortable.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Getting dressed in the morning, ken mean and putting on
- 27:08Speaker 1: sweatpons totally like I'm not saying you need to go
- 27:12Speaker 1: and put on like a fucking Reformation dress and six
- 27:15Speaker 1: inch heels. Yeah, Like, I'm just talking about the physical
- 27:18Speaker 1: act of getting dressed in something that you're.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Like, Oh, I feel cute, I feel comfy. Don't wear
- 27:24Speaker 2: something uncomfortable. Oh no, I hate that. Yeah, I used
- 27:27Speaker 2: to wear this makes me actually cringe.
- 27:32Speaker 1: But when I first got like my first full time job,
- 27:34Speaker 1: I used to wear like fucking six inch heels into
- 27:37Speaker 1: work every day. And if you do, that's so fine,
- 27:39Speaker 1: that so you. But I wasn't wearing them for myself.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I was wearing them for like the way that they looked.
- 27:44Speaker 1: And now is someone who is literally a baby goat
- 27:47Speaker 1: in heels?
- 27:50Speaker 2: What was she down? How do you like? Stomp through
- 27:52Speaker 2: the city and those the hottest thing? You were like
- 27:58Speaker 2: my sex in the city fantasy.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Like I was being like first full time job, shopping joannealists.
- 28:04Speaker 2: And like the clip clock through the lobby.
- 28:05Speaker 1: I thought I yearving the trotters that Now yeah, now
- 28:14Speaker 1: I wear socks that are mismatched and they're both my
- 28:19Speaker 1: boyfriends and my slides and it's great And that's just
- 28:23Speaker 1: what I liked where And I still feel like I
- 28:25Speaker 1: got dressed, you did, but like, that's the thing is
- 28:28Speaker 1: that's me.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I got dressed.
- 28:29Speaker 1: I' mean like baggy jeans and a T shirt that
- 28:32Speaker 1: is probably older than my dad.
- 28:34Speaker 2: But it's good to that's my dressed.
- 28:37Speaker 1: So like, your dress can be six inch heels and
- 28:41Speaker 1: a reformation dress if you want it to be. Whatever,
- 28:44Speaker 1: like helps you feel like you are hitting that seventy
- 28:47Speaker 1: percent good day dressed energy slate.
- 28:50Speaker 3: My next air is spend at least thirty minutes socializing.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got very.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Similar tips, which I feel like is a good sign.
- 29:00Speaker 3: So I saw a study that apparently socializing for more
- 29:03Speaker 3: than thirty minutes each day was one of the most
- 29:05Speaker 3: important activities to.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Have a good day.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Interestingly, there was little additional benefit beyond two hours, though.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Oh I was like thirty minutes two hours longer than that.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Go home? I love that.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Yeah, which I found that's slay.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm like sick, Like I feel like that's whore
- 29:24Speaker 3: my social batteries Like okay, cool, Like I've had enough.
- 29:28Speaker 3: But yeah, spending time with friends specifically has an almost
- 29:32Speaker 3: boundlessly positive effect. According to the researchers of the American
- 29:36Speaker 3: Time You Survey, for the average cheek who doesn't work
- 29:39Speaker 3: with it with their best friend and isn't socializing with
- 29:43Speaker 3: their friends every day.
- 29:44Speaker 1: It doesn't require sucking their best friend's blood as their
- 29:47Speaker 1: life force.
- 29:48Speaker 2: That's privately selling our relationship here, big snee on the open.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Stay.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Yeah, making a conscious effort to put that into your
- 29:56Speaker 3: day if you can, like booking the gym class with
- 29:58Speaker 3: your friend, or going for a morning swim or getting
- 30:01Speaker 3: a coffee.
- 30:01Speaker 2: If you guys are doing it more and I love it.
- 30:04Speaker 2: I've been seeing more of it. Is it because we're
- 30:06Speaker 2: the little morning walks.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Yeah, they've got their little like you know what, we'll
- 30:10Speaker 1: go have like the quick dinner. Yeah, after work, it's
- 30:13Speaker 1: like we both work in the city. We'll go get
- 30:15Speaker 1: like some pad tie.
- 30:15Speaker 2: And then go home.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Love that or like yeah, doing like journaling together or
- 30:21Speaker 3: a book club or coloring in books, like little activities
- 30:24Speaker 3: like that that as well. Don't feel like it's a
- 30:26Speaker 3: lot of effort, And also you don't have to spend
- 30:28Speaker 3: heaps of money. But whatever that is, like, try to
- 30:31Speaker 3: make a conscious effort of putting more of those in
- 30:35Speaker 3: every week. I think it's probably a lot to ask
- 30:38Speaker 3: to do that every single day, especially if you're going
- 30:40Speaker 3: from like zero to nothing, but start somewhere like in
- 30:43Speaker 3: the next week, book in two different social activities with
- 30:46Speaker 3: friends that you can do during the week.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Yeah, into it cum Okay. My final one which a
- 30:53Speaker 2: final countdown, also crucial for a good day. But that's
- 30:58Speaker 2: guaranteed a good day. That's my crashout song.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Oh really, it's a great crash out song, the final countdown.
- 31:05Speaker 2: What are you talking about? Come on, like.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Imagine like fall on, meltdown, crying in your car to
- 31:14Speaker 1: the final countdown.
- 31:15Speaker 2: You can't, yes, you.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Can, no in a good way, I mean, but then
- 31:19Speaker 3: it like you can't be sad for long?
- 31:21Speaker 2: I think it you underestimate my power. Like okay.
- 31:28Speaker 1: My final one is to verbally express either gratitude or
- 31:33Speaker 1: sincere compliment to someone in your life. I promise you,
- 31:39Speaker 1: if you give someone a compliment, a sincere compliment, or
- 31:42Speaker 1: express gratitude or thank towards someone sincerely, you will have
- 31:47Speaker 1: a good day. There is no fucking way that you
- 31:51Speaker 1: can like get when you get your coffee and you
- 31:54Speaker 1: get it from your barrister, and if you say your
- 31:56Speaker 1: hair looks really nice today, you will walk away feeling
- 32:00Speaker 1: so gassed even though you were the one that gave
- 32:02Speaker 1: the compliment. And there's actually like a law surrounding it,
- 32:06Speaker 1: the law of reciprocity, And it kicks into high gear
- 32:09Speaker 1: when you do this, and not in terms of the
- 32:12Speaker 1: act being returned.
- 32:13Speaker 2: To you, but in how you feel after you do it.
- 32:16Speaker 1: So when you give someone a compliment, you feel as
- 32:19Speaker 1: if someone gave you one. So true, right, And it
- 32:24Speaker 1: might feel a bit weird at first to you know,
- 32:27Speaker 1: maybe genuinely stop and express gratitude to someone that you know,
- 32:32Speaker 1: or to stop a stranger and give them a compliment,
- 32:34Speaker 1: but once you start, you can't stop.
- 32:37Speaker 2: It's the healthiest addiction in the world.
- 32:40Speaker 1: And like, I truly love doing this, like I love
- 32:44Speaker 1: seeing a girlipop and being like, I'm going to love
- 32:45Speaker 1: your nails.
- 32:46Speaker 2: By the way, Yeah, it looks so good. What shade
- 32:48Speaker 2: is that? Write it down?
- 32:49Speaker 1: You know, Like it's just the best way to go
- 32:54Speaker 1: about life is And.
- 32:56Speaker 2: I'm not saying like you need to look around and
- 32:58Speaker 2: be like, fuck, who can a compliment today? But I
- 33:00Speaker 2: think we've said it before.
- 33:01Speaker 3: If you are thinking something nice about somebody, say it. Yeah,
- 33:05Speaker 3: I've been doing that like a lot with not with me,
- 33:10Speaker 3: You're like, actually, you probably could peel it back. No,
- 33:13Speaker 3: But I've been doing it a lot with my partner
- 33:16Speaker 3: Chris recently, and I always say, I'm like, he'll be
- 33:20Speaker 3: saying something and I don't know, he'll like smile.
- 33:22Speaker 2: And I'll just like think he looks really beautiful, but
- 33:25Speaker 2: I won't want to like interrupt him as he's talking,
- 33:26Speaker 2: so I'll be.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Like, you know, news saying blah blah, he's smile and
- 33:31Speaker 3: you look really beautiful, and he's like, okay, Like I'm
- 33:35Speaker 3: just like, why not like because when I like see it,
- 33:38Speaker 3: it makes me, like, you know, feel nice inside, So
- 33:41Speaker 3: I'm like, why not share that?
- 33:42Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 33:42Speaker 3: But I do think they're doing that too, strangers and
- 33:45Speaker 3: just looking out for those opportunities where you can spread
- 33:48Speaker 3: something nice because as much as it isn't about you know,
- 33:51Speaker 3: like getting something back from them, but if you put
- 33:55Speaker 3: yourself in their shoes and you think about times when
- 33:57Speaker 3: people have complimented your hair or perfume or your nail, like.
- 34:00Speaker 2: You feel so gassed after doing that.
- 34:02Speaker 3: So also knowing that you're doing something really nice for
- 34:05Speaker 3: somebody else, like it's a win win.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Yeah. But to wrap this episode, I have a really.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Good quote that is going to be like your kick
- 34:15Speaker 1: up the bum of motivation to put these steps in place.
- 34:18Speaker 2: And it's from a creator called Frankie Simmons.
- 34:22Speaker 1: I'll link her below, and it's You're better at planning
- 34:24Speaker 1: than you think you are. A successful schedule or to
- 34:27Speaker 1: do list for your day is not one where you
- 34:29Speaker 1: get done every single thing on the schedule. A successful

- 34:36Speaker 1: done than you would have without the plan.
- 34:39Speaker 2: I like that right.
- 34:40Speaker 3: It's a good way to wrap the episode, I feel

- 34:47Speaker 3: these to do lists and plans a productivity of like
- 34:49Speaker 3: I'm going to do all these things and if I
- 34:51Speaker 3: don't get all this done, then I haven't succeeded.
- 34:53Speaker 2: I haven't had a good day. I haven't done being mainbong.

- 34:59Speaker 1: that is looking at it like, Okay, these are my plans,
- 35:03Speaker 1: this is what I want to do, and if you
- 35:06Speaker 1: got half of that done, it's more than you would
- 35:09Speaker 1: have done without a plant.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Mmmm in your fingertips by a little chick. Fucking well,
- 35:17Speaker 2: thanks chicks. That is a wrap for this week's episode.
- 35:20Speaker 2: We love to be in your ear hose, and we'll
- 35:24Speaker 2: see it on this day. We'll see that magic. See
