Five New Zealanders vanish in Nepal-China floods as rescue teams scramble — Dejan Kuzmic, Shweta Mhatre, Mihir & Kinnari Patel, and Suhasini Reddy are still unaccounted for, despite 289 foreign nationals being rescued. Each had unique ties to Aotearoa: Kuzmic a refugee turned community pillar, Mhatre on pilgrimage, the Patels celebrating a birthday hike, and Reddy on a dream trip cut short by washed-out checkpoints.
