- 0:20Hey, everyone, welcome to Blessed this mess in the True Crown Podcast.
- 0:23I don't care. Here's Stu say Hastu. Hey, all right, so
- 0:26we're back. We've been gone for a couple of weeks. We apologize,
- 0:30but it wasn't our fault. We had the fault. Okay, I dragged.
- 0:35I dragged. We've never had COVID in our like, believe it or
- 0:38not, in all these years. We're like we thought we had, but
- 0:44we never got tested. Well, but somebody actually tested positive this time.
- 0:50No, we've been tested multiple times when we've been sick because now the days,
- 0:54they won't give you an antibiotic or anything unless they test you for everything
- 0:57when you go in. So we have been tested while we've been sick.
- 1:00The kids have been tested for multiple times when they've got sick, and they've
- 1:03never had it. So to our knowledge, we've never tested positive for COVID.
- 1:11And we both had to test multiple times, like during the whole ordeal
- 1:15for our jobs. So we finally got COVID. We're like late to the
- 1:19party. We're we're buying last season's pants. We're twenty twenty four COVID people.
- 1:27So we all got COVID. I dragged it home, and then the
- 1:30baby got it. I call him the baby. He's eighteen months old.
- 1:34But the baby got it, and then Stu got it, and then little
- 1:38Psycho got it. Yeah, the three year old got it. The three
- 1:42nature So I had it the worst, and then I would say Stu had
- 1:48its second worst, and then the two children were like nothing. It was
- 1:52like the baby had one day of fever. That's why we That's how we
- 1:56actually found out we had it because he got sick. He had a fever
- 1:59all day and so they wanted to see because he's only eighteen months, make
- 2:01sure it wasn't ear infection or something. And then's when he you know,
- 2:06they could test them for like fifteen different things, and he had the COVID.
- 2:09So I like some little swifties, they shook it off. Really,
- 2:15stud What what is it? What have you been watching TikTok or something?
- 2:19No, you got to do is watch football these days. And I know,
- 2:21I can't believe Taylor Swift's going to Super Bowl. How exciting is that?
- 2:23I know, I thought they were going to trade her for Selena Gomez
- 2:25after they went oh and to to two back to back losses. I thought
- 2:30she was going to get traded. Oh yeah, he did have like some
- 2:31I don't really follow Taylor Swift that much, but this has you know,
- 2:35this is just bombardee. You can't really there's no getting around it. Like
- 2:38you're just just mind your own business on Facebook, and all of a sudden
- 2:42it's like, oh, eh, Taylor Swift told the cameras to fuck off
- 2:47or something like that. Anyway, so she didn't actually say that, but
- 2:51she did. I think she did tell them to go away? Did she?
- 2:53I stare them, yeah, mean mugging. Yeah, like can you
- 2:57please just turn the camera off me? This is getting old. So anyways,
- 3:00so that's where we've been. I'm still a little stuffed up. I've
- 3:04just it's just been going on. It's been lingering because you're weak. It's
- 3:09been lingering with me because I am not. I am free to remove to
- 3:14go about my life. But it's just like I got that long haul COVID.
- 3:19Well that's why I'm on tender, just in case the worst happens.
- 3:23I got to be prepared to go on get these children a new mommy.
- 3:27Anyway, So we're back, but we have other some other things coming up
- 3:31that might delay a few episodes. But we'll let you know when that when
- 3:36that happens, when that drops. Yeah, so what what what? We've
- 3:44just been working on something and whenever that happens, we'll probably have another delay.
- 3:51Just fair forewarning you guys. So anyway, so that's enough about this
- 3:55because I've been anyways, we have we have our Patroon. We want to
- 4:02thank everybody who's supporting us on Patreon. We have Facebook like us there for
- 4:09updates and stuff, and then Instagram as well. I've been lacking on the
- 4:12content on the Instagram and Facebook because I've been sick, but I'll try to
- 4:16get back on that. We do have book club and stuff like that.
- 4:19So anyways, I guess we'll go ahead and get into this week's episode about
- 4:27Okay, well whatever, all right, So we're going to Virginia and then
- 4:34Texas. We're going to Texas. Okay, that's what I know. We're
- 4:41going to Texas. We start in Virginia, but we we move on to
- 4:45Texas. I wrote this a while ago, so sorry. All right,
- 4:50So Laurie, I mean Laura who goes by Laurie Coffee. Nay now,
- 5:00nay stout, No, yep, no, Laura Laurie Stout Nay Coffee was
- 5:08born October first, nineteen sixty in Arlington, Virginia. See that's where I
- 5:12go, Virginia. Now, Laurie was the oldest child in her family growing
- 5:15up in Arlington. See he threw me off too, because there's in Arlington,
- 5:18Texas to it's just convoluted. You think it's as important as Arlington,
- 5:21Virginia, though, yes, I do. Yes, what is going on
- 5:27in Arlington, Virginia. It's older than Texas Arlington. Just since things are
- 5:31old doesn't mean they're better. Yeah, trustb Yeah I married that older you're
- 5:39not that ticket. Enjoy that ride, Okay. So she would later move
- 5:42with her family to Austin, Texas. In Austin, Laurie met Gary Stout
- 5:46and they quickly quickly fell in love kind of like us no. Now.
- 5:50In nineteen seventy eight, they wed, and three years later they welcomed a
- 5:54baby girl named Dale. Now Laurie was living the life she always dreamed of.
- 6:00At just twenty two years old, she had a baby, a husband,
- 6:02and had started her own cleaning business. Now she was growing her business,
- 6:05booking local office buildings where she would clean overnight. She chose those overnight
- 6:11jobs because she really liked being at home with her daughter during the day.
- 6:15She loved being a mother and spending time with Dell. On the morning of
- 6:19September twentieth, nineteen eighty three, at around eight am, an office worker
- 6:24entered the Esseel Investments building and saw an abandoned cleaning cart in the middle of
- 6:29where announce it Eesel. I was thinking, Easel could be Easyl, could
- 6:31be eSeL. It's easy Ell. You guys decide for yourself. We don't
- 6:36want another uh where is it val vald Valdosta. We don't want another Valdosta
- 6:44situation. So anyway, the cleaning cart in the middle of the hallway was
- 6:50not the norm for the building, and it was always done overnight and everything
- 6:55was put away in the morning when the office opened up, So this is
- 6:58odd. The man looked around the cart but did not see anybody. Now
- 7:03since he was thinking this was odd, he continued to look for the cleaning
- 7:06person. So he entered a nearby men's restroom, and that is when he
- 7:12discovered women's clothing strewn about. He continues to investigate, and to his horror,
- 7:17he finds a woman lying nude, strangled with an electrical wire, and
- 7:23he leaves the bathroom most quickly and calls nine one one. Well, at
- 7:27least he didn't use the bathroom in the I mean, I mean, if
- 7:30you got to go that man, you might. Yeah, I'll call on
- 7:32when I'm done here, all right. So police arrived at eight thirty am,
- 7:36and they found, like I said, a nude young woman strangled with
- 7:41that electric wire. She had wet toilet papers stuffed in her mouth and nose.
- 7:45That's terrible. Yeah, it appeared that the killer wanted to make sure
- 7:48she did not survive that like she even if she survived the strangulation, he
- 7:54then stuffed her nose in her mouth with the wet tissue paper so that she
- 7:59wouldn't be to breathe. It would restrict her even more and just finish the
- 8:03job in case the strangulation didn't work. So as clear as by the wounds
- 8:07on her body that she had been sexually assaulted, the woman was quickly identified
- 8:11as twenty two year old Laurie Stout. Now, the man who found her
- 8:16knew she was a cleaning lady, and she also had the IDA on her
- 8:20purse nearby, so it wasn't really a question as to who who this was.
- 8:24Now Laurie had no defensive wounds, so it appeared that the attack was
- 8:28a surprise attack from behind. Now, from clues gathered at the scene,
- 8:31it appeared to perpetrator approached Laurie from behind and began to strangle her with that
- 8:37electrical wire. The killer then dragged her into the men's bathroom, where he
- 8:41continued the attack. Now an autopsy would later confirm the manner of death as
- 8:45strangulation and the sexual assault. Investigators continued to process the scene and one of
- 8:50the first items they noticed was a cigarette butt lying in a bucket hooked to
- 8:54Laurie's cleaning cart. Her broken glasses were also in that bucket, so they
- 9:00collected the cigarette and they quickly determined that it did not belong to Laurie.
- 9:05Laurie smoked, but it was not the same type of cigarette that was in
- 9:07her purse. They also dusted the entire bathroom for fingerprints, and during the
- 9:11search they found a small amount of blood left at the scene that they were
- 9:16able to determine did not belong to Laurie based on the type of the blood
- 9:20type. As investigators are scouring the crime scene, a man arrives, pushing
- 9:24his way through now this is Gary Stout, Laurie's husband. Gary also worked
- 9:30at the building as a maintenance worker during the day. When he approached police,
- 9:33he seemed to already know that it was Laurie that was found in the
- 9:39bathroom, and as you might imagine, he was completely distraught, and police
- 9:43brought him down to the police station for further questioning because why husband, yes,
- 9:50So upon questioning, Gary tells police that he rushed up to the office
- 9:54when he awoke in the morning to find Laurie had not returned home, because
- 9:56obviously he gets up, she should already be back in bed. It doesn't
- 10:01take all night to clean a office building, and so he you know,
- 10:05and then they have a child, So he gets up, goes to work,
- 10:09she's in bed, and then you know, they switch off. So
- 10:13when he got to the building, he then saw her car, and then
- 10:16he saw all the police in the building, and he knew it had to
- 10:18have been Laurie because she's in a building by herself at night. Yeah,
- 10:24she's not home in her cars there. So Gary had calmed down since the
- 10:28office building and was acting very different. Instead of being upset, he was
- 10:33just like in a state of calm. He was also very forthcoming with detectives.
- 10:39He quickly admitted that him and Laurie were having problems in their marriage,
- 10:43and he told them he was having an affair with a woman, and that
- 10:46woman had recently moved to Texas to be closer to Gary. So it's a
- 10:50little more a serious thing then, just a little trisk this woman is relocating
- 10:56her life to be near Gary now, he said at the time, he
- 11:01was contemplating just leaving Laurie altogether for this other woman. Now. The night
- 11:05that Laurie was murdered, Gary admitted to getting into a fight with her over
- 11:09how loud the TV was. I mean, I understand she had gone to
- 11:13bed early to get some rest before heading to her cleaning job, and he
- 11:18would not turn down the TV, which was bothering her. Well, maybe
- 11:22you should turn down the TV sto, whenever I go to bed. I'm
- 11:26talking about me and you with the damn Yeah. Oh, you sleep through
- 11:28everything. I had Sister Wives on last night, and you just you like
- 11:31turn it on in the bedroom, yeah and wake me out, and then
- 11:35you're like sleep through anything you can. You were taking you were taking a
- 11:39nap and I was watching Sister Wives, and you were snoring in the middle
- 11:45of the day, would like comy, Oh my god. Yeah, and
- 11:50does a bear shit in the woods? Does the Pope shit in the woods?
- 11:56It's a bear Catholic, all right. So anyways, so he admits
- 12:01to having this fight, which is kind of like a silly argument, but
- 12:05still he's admitting that, yeah, we argued about the TV. So anyway,
- 12:11so they got an argument, and she just decided to go in and
- 12:13head off to the office to start her cleaning a little earlier because she's laying
- 12:16down, can't sleep, TV's on. Pissed off at him, She's like,
- 12:20fuck it, I'm just leaving. So police are growing very suspicious of
- 12:24Gary, and it did not help when family members confirm the issues in the
- 12:28marriage, because they've been expressing once your marriage issues get to where other people
- 12:35outside of you and the significant other, then it means it's probably pretty bad.
- 12:41It's bad, and then they're only getting snippets of it. Yeah,
- 12:43on one side of it. So her siblings told police that Laurie was miserable
- 12:48and just the weekend before the murder, Laurie had gone to stay with her
- 12:50sister to get away from him. Now Laurie's family believe that Gary was the
- 12:54one who killed Laurie and told police this multiple times. There was obviously no
- 12:58love lost between meeen Gary and Laurie's family. I mean, they're just like
- 13:03he did it, cheating on her. He must killed him. Yeah,
- 13:07I mean it correlates what's going to happen every dayline episode I've ever seen.
- 13:13Yeah, they're going to be looking at you when I die. What are
- 13:16you talking about? They never look at the wife. What No, it's
- 13:22just the husband. Wait, they're gonna look at whatever business dealings you have
- 13:26that were gone a right, My business dealings are with you and the children.
- 13:31Yes, that girl, she's kind of shifty, the three year old,
- 13:35Yes she is. She did run around with that knife that one time,
- 13:41saying kill Our three year old did not have a knife. She was
- 13:46two at the time. No, I'm kidding, she was two at the
- 13:50time. I had got her one of those like Montessori type. I was
- 13:54going to post it on the Instagram, Facebook, and then I thought I'd
- 13:56get like hate mail, hate mail, like what kind of terrible parenting is
- 14:01this? So what happened was there was a fly? Have I already told
- 14:05the story? Maybe there was a fly, and so she don't like she
- 14:09doesn't like bugs. She's a concrete princess. She likes to she don't like
- 14:13grass and stuff like that and bugs. So there was a fly, so
- 14:16I got the fly swatter out and I killed it, and I said,
- 14:20oh, we're gonna kill it, and she like really latched onto that word
- 14:22killing thing, kill, kill, kill, And then I said it's dead,
- 14:26and she latched onto that word dead, dead, like real hard.
- 14:31There for a few days. Well about the same time, I had decided
- 14:33to buy her like one of those like Montessory type things where you're supposed to
- 14:37like teach the children to do everyday live stuff. And it was one of
- 14:41those ones like a cutting board and some little toddler knife so she could practice
- 14:46like cutting bananas and stuff. So she she doesn't like she didn't like the
- 14:50room We have a room bud that vacuum at the time, she really hated
- 14:54it and she was afraid of it. So she happened to have her little
- 14:58Montessory knife and ran and the room bow was on and she starts walking around
- 15:03and she's got like yourself crouched down and she's going kill, kill, kill
- 15:07with her knife, and I got it on I got it on video and
- 15:11everything with that. But she was looking for the room, but to kill
- 15:13it because she saw me kill the fly. She just happened to have the
- 15:16knife in her hand, like she doesn't associate like killing something with a knife.
- 15:20I don't think. I don't know, what do you doing on the
- 15:24room? I don't know. Anyways, it was funny because she's over there
- 15:26like croshming, going kill kill, and then then the vacuum light got stuck
- 15:31or something. She's like dead. So anyways, I don't know why that
- 15:35story came up. We got to watch three or Oh she's shifting, Oh
- 15:39she is. She is shifting though for sure. Anyway, So there's this
- 15:46fun story for the and why I didn't post it because people probably think I
- 15:48was a terrible parent. Well not for that reason. Shut up still now,
- 15:56since based on what we've told you, that's pretty much all police had
- 16:00as well, so they didn't have enough to hold Gary, so he had
- 16:03to be let go. But he was their number one suspect. He had
- 16:07been the last one to see Laurie that night before she left for work.
- 16:12Obviously, he showed up at the scene of the crime the next morning like
- 16:15he knew something happened. He seemed to be acting od and he admitted to
- 16:22having an affair, and then he was thinking of believing Lord in his defense
- 16:26though he was could have just in reality, he did work there in the
- 16:30morning, so it's not like it was like far fetched for him to be
- 16:33there. No, Okay, well let's reverse this. So he didn't tell
- 16:38the truth about the affair or the fight or the bad things they were happening.
- 16:44So now he's also the suspect. Yeah, either way, he's a
- 16:47suspect. Yeah, you can't tell the truth, should lie about it.
- 16:52Now. On top of all this, he was also the only person that
- 16:55had access to the building at night, which I can't believe anybody had a
- 17:00key card had access. But I mean, he's their main suspect that had
- 17:04there's other people that would have access, but he's one of the main people
- 17:08of maintenance, the maintenance guy, and knowing she was there by herself,
- 17:14and he had keys to the entire building. Yeah, now, the only
- 17:17other ones that would have yes, like we said, the only other ones
- 17:22would have been a few workers and the property manager. So he's the only
- 17:26one with a motive and the means and the opportunity and to complete access to
- 17:30the building. Well, that means motive and opportunity. I covered that,
- 17:33Stewart, I covered that the saying is means motive an opportunity. It's not
- 17:41means motive opportunity and the keys, the keys to the buildings. No,
- 17:48that's not one of the criteria for if you are a susk, I'm about
- 17:52sicking you tonight. You walked right into that. You're about to walk into
- 17:59something kill. They also found electrical wire like the type that was used to
- 18:06strangle Lori in the maintenance closet, but all of this was circumstantial and they
- 18:11had no hard evidence placing old Gary at the scene at the time of the
- 18:15murder. They did find his fingerprints in the bathroom, but being that he's
- 18:19the maintenance fan and it being the men's room, and being that he worked
- 18:25there, this could easily be explained away. Do you think Gary did come
- 18:30in and take a polygraph test and passed, but he was still a suspect
- 18:36and they had but they still had to look outside of Gary because they had
- 18:40nothing else to do. Yeah, they're not going to be able to rest
- 18:41him on this or oh damn, put the doughnut down and get to work.
- 18:48The office where Lourie was cleaning was used by multiple businesses and organizations.
- 18:52So one of those organizations was the University of Texas. Now, they had
- 18:57a special enrollment happening for a course at the office building that night. Now,
- 19:02many students actually entered the building and were there past midnight because it's college
- 19:06students. I guess, like we're just staying up past midnight, Like,
- 19:10yeah, very weird. But okay, I guess because as was back in
- 19:15the day, you had to like go in person to enroll. I guess,
- 19:18oh yeah, because they didn't have online. It's not ten eighth three
- 19:22ot to remember, not ten eighthing. No, no, I really don't.
- 19:27Oh yeah. So anyways, so they had to go in person,
- 19:33and I guess this enrollment took the hours were put them well past midnight.
- 19:40So anyway, so Laurie had arrived to clean while the students were still in
- 19:45there, obviously because she's I mean, it's not gonna come clean at three
- 19:48o'clock in the morning. So police took the roster and began contacting all of
- 19:52the males that had signed in to register, asking them to come in for
- 19:55finger printing. That seems a little sexist. Now, all of the man
- 19:57cooperate, dated cooperated. Now, of all the men, they actually did
- 20:07find one match, and that was an eighteen year old student named Robert van
- 20:11Weiss. Now, Robert's fingerprints were found inside the stall where Laurie was found
- 20:15and on the emergency exit on the second floor door. Now, Robert,
- 20:22of course was brought in for questioning, and he told police that he was
- 20:26there for maybe twenty to thirty minutes. He registered for the class, used
- 20:30the restroom on the second floor, then left outside through the fire exit door,
- 20:36which would explain all his fingerprints everywhere that they were found. Now,
- 20:40he said, likely story, likely story, Robert. He said he did
- 20:45see a woman cleaning, but paid no attention to her. Robert said he
- 20:49left it twelve fifteen, and other people confirmed this. Police had also had
- 20:55eyewitnesses saying that they had seen Laurie alive at twelve thirty that night when they
- 21:00left the building. They ran Robert's blood against the sample they had and it
- 21:04was not a match. He had a different blood type. Yeah, so
- 21:08he's got the right Story's he explained where all his fingerprints were. I'm assuming
- 21:15they didn't tell him where they found your fingerprints. I wouldn't. I hope
- 21:17they would. I hope they wouldn't. But we don't know. This was
- 21:19nineteen eighty three, We don't know. They hadn't watched a lot of CSI
- 21:22and stuff like that or dateline. So he's able to explain where his fingerprints
- 21:30were. Head He's not someone people saw him leave. She was told blood
- 21:33types not matching, so their lead is drying up pretty fast. So anyway,
- 21:41he was let go and police continue down the list of potential suspects,
- 21:47moving on to sex offenders in the area. They looked for similar types of
- 21:49attacks in the area and they had a few leads, but those went nowhere.
- 21:56The case went cold without any solid suspects. Detectives and Laurie's family believed
- 22:02that Gary had something to do with Laurie's murder. Gary eventually took their daughter
- 22:07Dale and he moved out of state. He was like, screw you guys,
- 22:10I'm going home or somewhere else because y'all are just accusing me of shit,
- 22:14and sooner or later somebody's either gonna It was like that one case we
- 22:17just did where the guy like left and they everyone thought he he had murdered,
- 22:22uh, the gas station, the guy, guy that worked at the
- 22:26gest station. Yeah. So so Gary's like, screw it, I'm out.
- 22:32I heard what happened to that gas station guy. I'm leaving bless this
- 22:37I was listening to bless This Mess podcast. And he never could outrun the
- 22:41suspicion, and they finally caught the killer years decades later, and then he
- 22:45finally was So anyway, Gary, our main suspect, remarried and had another
- 22:52child. Laurie's family was very upset because now they had lost Dale along with
- 22:56Laurie. What would you think you were, Yeah, you're accusing in my
- 23:00murder and you're like, he did it. He definitely did it. Somebody
- 23:03arrest him and then he's like screw and then you want grandparents' rights. Yeah,
- 23:08that's not gonna happen. Okay, So whether Gary, Gary still on
- 23:15the suspect list, but he's like, I'm done with this, I'm out,
- 23:18peace out. I wonder if he married the lady that he was having
- 23:21an affair with. We don't know, stud didn't somebody shouldn't research this second.
- 23:26Maybe you should have researched this. Maybe you should have what do you
- 23:29do with your time? I do a lot of things with my time,
- 23:30Stewart, Yeah, none of it's productive though You're not productive anyways. After
- 23:37years, just it's after After several years with no progress in this relationship,
- 23:45cold case detectives reopened the case in nineteen ninety two. After going back through
- 23:49the case, they realized a critical human error had been made back in nineteen
- 23:53eighty three. Sto shut your face. The eighteen year old UT student Robert
- 24:00actually had a blood type that matched the attacker. Someone in the LA lab
- 24:04had made an error when recording the blood type. Had it been an error,
- 24:07had it been a cover up? I wonder what lab was it sent
- 24:11to? Was it sent to the UT lab? Maybe? And they're like,
- 24:15oh, I love Robert. We can't have him. No, go
- 24:18to jail. He's just a freshman. Yeah. They then re evaluated all
- 24:23of the evidence from the beginning. They realized that the placement of the fingerprint
- 24:26on the exit door would have only gotten there if Robert had entered from the
- 24:32outside. Putting a new theory together, they determined that Robert must have left
- 24:37like the eyewitnesses said, so that was correct, but he re entered the
- 24:41building at a later time when Lourie was alone. Now, detectives went to
- 24:45go look for Robert, and they quickly learned that he had fled the country
- 24:49at some point, most likely hearing that he was under investigation for the murder.
- 24:55You know, all this is stirring up. I mean, he's got
- 24:57to have his if he did it, he's got it. Have his like
- 25:00ear to the to the pulse of the streets or whatever, that's his ear
- 25:07to the concrete, his ear to the ground, something like that, listening
- 25:14in. And then he got word that he was they were starting to sniff
- 25:17around and reopen it and everything like that. So without Robert, police had
- 25:22to rely on old evidence, and they went to obtain the DNA sample they
- 25:25had of Robert, but someone had misplaced it or tossed the sample again.
- 25:30Was it an accident or a cover up? I ask you this, well,
- 25:34Lab, I don't know, we don't know. We're going to assume
- 25:38it was at the UT lab. We're going to assume he was sleeping with
- 25:41the lab. We're going to assume my brother is ou fan, he'd be
- 25:47so so happy. We're gonna assume it was at the UT lab. He's
- 25:49sleeping with the one of the lab texts, she covers the whole thing up.
- 25:53So any game that OU's ever lost to Texas is now from the books.
- 26:02So anyway, So in nineteen ninety six, they decided to move forward
- 26:04with a warrant for his for the rest for murder. Now this would allow
- 26:08them to move forward with trying to get Robert extradited back into the country when
- 26:12they found him, because they need he needs official charges on him or rest
- 26:18on him to build to you know, use any of these things. They
- 26:21were also able to obtain one of his brother's DNA from trash and had a
- 26:25familial DNA match which confirmed what they believed. Now police found out that Robert
- 26:30was in Mexico. Probably had a very nice resort, you think. No,
- 26:33he's in some sort of sketchy town situation, some sketchy town out So
- 26:41they found him that probably still living a decent life though maybe yeah or not.
- 26:47So it would take about twenty four years for him to surrender to authorities.
- 26:52In December of twenty sixteen, Robert van Weiss was officially put on the
- 26:56FBI's ten most Wanted Fugitalis fugitive list. So I'm not the only one.
- 27:02They can't talk. No, I've been drinking though. Finally, after negotiations
- 27:07and removing the death penalty off the table, he surrendered himself in January twenty
- 27:12seventeen at the Laredo, Texas Mexico border. Yeah. Because I think Mexico
- 27:18won't there due to their religion. They won't extradite you if you can be
- 27:23put to death either, I'm pretty sure due to their religion. Yeah,
- 27:30because they're Catholics. Yeah, I think so. Well, there's a heavy
- 27:33Catholic religiosity down there. Yeah, but I'm pretty sure. However, I
- 27:38don't know if Mexico itself has a religion. Shut up, you know what
- 27:45I mean, Stewart, They're they're the they are against the death penalty,
- 27:51against death because a lot of the times, just like the US has a
- 27:53lot of things that came up from a Christian that we have a lot of
- 28:00all in place, Mexico has these beliefs. A lot of country, well,
- 28:03a lot of countries that don't have any religion don't believe in the death
- 28:06penalty. Yes, so I'm not sure if it's the religion or Okay,
- 28:10well I'm gonna look it up and see Stewart, you do that while I
- 28:11read this. He pleaded guilty in March of twenty seventeen to the murder of
- 28:18Lori and he was sentenced to thirty years in prison. All right, so
- 28:22I did a good quick cook concertion. I was wrong. I'll admit that
- 28:27you shouldn't that I was wrong. Yes, they just don't believe in the
- 28:33death penalty. I don't know why, but they don't, and they haven't
- 28:37extrated They actually abolished the death penalty, it's said in two thousand and five,
- 28:41I think, But they haven't extra doted to countries that have the death
- 28:45penalty since nineteen eighty one. And the religious thing wouldn't really necessarily be accurate
- 28:51because apparently a lot of the surrounding countries, which are also majority like Catholic
- 28:56and stuff, still have the death penalty. So that's it is that it
- 29:04write me your hate mail, Okay, I will. What's you're an email
- 29:10address? It's Stuart Wow. Whoa, whoa. I probably am going to
- 29:18get some hate mail for that, but I'm too tired to like go back
- 29:19and edit it out, so we'll just we'll just leave it in. It'll
- 29:23give somebody something to get riled up about it. Now, we haven't had
- 29:26any reviews coming in like three or four weeks now, review any at all,
- 29:30not an it I feel like people have gotten away from reviews. But
- 29:36they don't even give us a five star or I don't even know if they're
- 29:38giving us five or one stars. Who whoever's on iTunes. We'll get like
- 29:44a new thing once every three or four weeks. So why are you telling
- 29:48everybody, how, how, how how what losers we are that we don't
- 29:52get new reviews on iTunes. Oh that's not a reflection on us, because
- 29:56our numbers are good. That's reflection on you people who me No, the
- 30:02listeners, we're doing just fine, Matt. Yeah, so this will probably
- 30:11spark some reviews. They'll be like angry. Yeah yeah, that's because we're
- 30:14supposed to get groceries tonight delivered. Somebody stole them, and the driver I'm
- 30:18pretty sure just stole our groceries because he he uploaded a picture, but he
- 30:26just took an up up like an up close picture of something I don't know,
- 30:30the Barcoe with my name, you know, Like normally they're supposed to
- 30:32take a picture of like where they left the groceries. The door the front
- 30:34of the house. Yeah, so I was gonna get in the neighborhood group
- 30:37on Facebook, and I was like, well, I can at least show
- 30:40this picture of the door and be like, hey, whose house or our
- 30:42groceries? At No. He took an up close picture of one of the
- 30:47stickers on something on the bag, but it wasn't on the bag. It
- 30:51was on some pink and black thing that he had laid the sticker on and
- 30:55took a taking a picture. So I'm pretty sure he stole our groceries which
- 30:59there that Walmart had refunded me and everything, but it took forever. But
- 31:03what I'm real man at is there was some sidewalk chalk on there that was
- 31:07on regular ten ninety nine and it was on clearance for two ninety seven,
- 31:11and I got the last pack at Walmart, actually was able to get it
- 31:15for that cheap price, and this motherfucker stole it. That's the true crime.
- 31:19We need it's solved. Yes, let's find out where Matthew is in
- 31:23my clearance sidewalk chalk. Matthew and Midland, Texas. And you're listening to
- 31:29this while you're driving around stealing people's groceries. We want our sidewalk and I
- 31:33we you play yogurts that I was really wanting because they've been out of stock,
- 31:37and they finally got them back in and I ordered six of them,
- 31:38even though they're pricey. I bit the bullet. You don't think Robert got
- 31:44out of prison early on parole and his masquerade in his Matthew, do you?
- 31:48I think so? And he probably wears that, yes, it could
- 31:53have happened. Yeah, anyway, so some shifty motherfuckers and Midland ten there
- 31:59are. I guess you told everybody where we moved. Do we already tell
- 32:02everybody were moved? You did years ago? Years ago? We haven't been
- 32:08here for years. Well, people are sending us comments saying that we live
- 32:13in the armpit of Texas. Oh okay, well that's fine. It's you
- 32:16know what, there's less. It's less. Actually it's I don't think it's
- 32:19the armpit because it's very it's much less humid here, and I'm okay with
- 32:23that right now. I need a break from the humidity. Not gonna lie,
- 32:25guys. I was station in twenty nine Palms for a couple of months
- 32:29out in California. That's the armpit of the country. No, if there's
- 32:35an asshole to the country, twenty nine palms is inside of that. Yeah,
- 32:38we're actually I believe it or not. We're actually enjoying our time here
- 32:44in Midland. Believe it or not. It's really not that bad. We
- 32:46have a real nice backyard and we don't ever we're homebodies. We never leave
- 32:51our house. So you might get murdered. Yeah, I mean, have
- 32:54you listened to these podcasts. You could be murdered in any damn time.
- 32:58I know you could be mardyered in your own damn house. Yeah. It
- 33:00happens all the time while your wife all right, well, do you ever
- 33:04y'all need Jesus horse to of course I have one. I don't know why
- 33:07I eat a lot of people and act like I don't ever have one coming
- 33:12to us. From The New York Post published October fourth, twenty twenty three.
- 33:16Bank robber who was busted counting cash outside the bank tried the scheme again
- 33:23and failed. Florida or Not Florida Not Florida. An Alaskan bank robber who
- 33:30was caught immediately after his heist while counting his loot outside the targeted branch,
- 33:37was nabbed again on Monday, trying to rob the same Why was he nabbed
- 33:40when he was counting the cash outside? I thought that's what he was caught,
- 33:45you said, count, you said caught again immediately after his heist,
- 33:50while counting his loot outside the targeted branch, was nabbed again on Monday,
- 33:58trying to rob the same bank. Why was he out? Can I read
- 34:01the story? Okay? This is like that meme about women, like if
- 34:05you just let me finish the story, maybe everything will fall into place,
- 34:08kind of like you're asking me stuff about a movie and I'm like, well,
- 34:10if you just watch it, maybe the movie. I don't ask you
- 34:14questions about a movie, Stuart, because we don't watch movies because Sister Wise
- 34:17is always on More Freaking some other goddamn reality show. I don't have the
- 34:21you know what, I've lost the ability to watch a movie because it's just
- 34:24too long. Yeah, I mean anything more than fifteen minutes songs. Oh,
- 34:28I did get into like I started, I was watching like the Nora
- 34:31Efron, like Julie and Julia. I got into that it's complicated, and
- 34:37what's complicated the movie? We watched it. I did the other other week.
- 34:43I did actually watch a couple movies on Sunday, well which one was
- 34:45complicated? It's complicated, was the title of the movie. Was it complicated?
- 34:52Okay, just finish the story. So anyway, Michael Gaile Nash,
- 34:54forty nine was swiftly, swiftly hear me taking into custody for carrying out the
- 35:00failed scheme that close closely resembled his fumble from five years earlier. Oh so
- 35:07he got he did the thing where he where he robbed the bank and counted
- 35:12the money outside five years ago and got rested. And then he's been out
- 35:15and he tried it again. Are you trying to esp end the story or
- 35:20would you like me to continue reading it? Okay? Continue the botch.
- 35:23Twenty eighteen, Burgerley earned him a spot on at least one Dumbest Criminals list
- 35:30after he slipped a teller a demand note with his name and birth date scrawled
- 35:35on the back. Clad in black jeans, black boots, a black car
- 35:38heart jacket, and a black hat, Nash allegedly sauntered up to a First
- 35:44National Bank and anchorage at nine am and began violently pulling on the front doors.
- 35:49According to the Alaska US Attorney's Office. Employees told Nash through the glass
- 35:53that the bank would not open for another hour, but he stood his ground
- 35:57and passed a note through the locked doors to the bank supervisor. The note
- 36:00said, this is a robbery. Put the money in the bag and I
- 36:04will walk out. This is a robbery. God help us all. But
- 36:08he can't walk hill. He's not in. This is what the note read.
- 36:14According to an arrest after David AFFI David, it does not appear that
- 36:19Nash included his personal information on the note this time around. The supervisor immediately
- 36:23yelled for the bank door to be locked via a secondary locking mechanism and called
- 36:30nine to one one, but Nash continued loitering in front of the branch.
- 36:35A nervous and stuttering Nash allegedly rejected a bank security officers please for the robber
- 36:39to leave, and instead encouraged the security officer to call police. When they
- 36:46finally arrived, Nash peacefully submitted and was transported to an Anchorage police department back.
- 36:53Maybe while he was being put in handcuffs and while he was in the
- 36:58bank in the back of the troll car, Nash made several excited utterances that
- 37:04it was not his first time robbing a bank. Officers later recounted to the
- 37:08FBI investigators. FBI Anchorage ran a records check for Michael Gail Nash, and
- 37:15they revealed that Nash was arrested, charged, and convicted for robbing the same
- 37:20First National Bank in twenty eighteen. Although he followed a near identical mo it's
- 37:28method of operation. That's modus operandi store yep, that's what I said the
- 37:35Monday morning hold up, motive, opportunity, and also keys to the keys
- 37:42to the bank, the four things that police look for. The Monday morning
- 37:46hold up was not nearly as effective as as twenty eighteen heist. Nash made
- 37:52off with four hundred dollars in a bag after handling the teller a note on
- 37:57a completed form for affordable reading, this is a hold up. Please put
- 38:02the money they want in the bag. God help us. After just a
- 38:08few minutes, Nash was spotted sitting outside the bank counting the bills. For
- 38:13the crime, he was given a three hundred and sixty six day prison term,
- 38:16followed by five years of supervised released, he could be sentenced up to
- 38:21twenty years in prison. This time around the attorney's office. That's ten years
- 38:24less than a guy I got for murder, well for being a doc.
- 38:28And I think he wants to go to prison. I think that's where he's
- 38:30trying to get. Nash has several other conviction on his rap sheets, including
- 38:35stealing personal property in nineteen ninety three and forgery in two thousand. Hey,
- 38:39we know somebody this forge and stuff. Aren't you getting an attorney for that?
- 38:43Stuart Jesus he that comment. Okay, scratch that from the record.
- 38:52I'm not in legal trouble. I can tell you that. But somebody else's
- 38:55he tried to go after them. He also received a court maru in nineteen
- 39:00ninety six for distributing drugs, according to an affidavit filed by an FBI investigator.
- 39:06Okay, was he in that military? I guess, Marshall, I'm
- 39:10done. I'm over this. You know what. We got a review saying
- 39:14that people were sick and tired of your your attitude about the yelling. Yeah
- 39:16that was the last actual review that she was sick of your your bs about
- 39:22this yeall ne gay anything nice about me? Well she wasn't that. She
- 39:28wasn't as hateful as I'm making it out to be, but she didn't appreciate
- 39:30it, or he didn't whatever. Well, now they got something else to
- 39:35bitch about. Now, suck it. You suck it, not the reviewer.
- 39:39You trust me. It's not happening. What And that's why I'm on
- 39:47tender. He's not on tender, okay you Oh, I do get a
- 39:55little frustrated when Stue is giving us y'all need Jesus and gets cut off.
- 40:02Please let him finish telling us the stories so we can decide for ourselves if
- 40:07it's stupid or not some of them, some of them. Yeah, Okay,
- 40:13you know what, You're not in the room with him. Whatever.
- 40:15We're at the end of this. We've already been in here for however long,
- 40:19and I'm ready to go, and I have to hear Stu continue to
- 40:22read through a news article. It's not my fault. You got a poop.
- 40:27Oh my god, I do not Stewart. That is so inappropriate.
- 40:31I hate you. I do not need to go to the restroom anyways.
- 40:37Okay, well finish your story since apparently I'm the fuddy duddy. Okay,
- 40:43this all goes back to that one where you were talking about that one.
- 40:45Get celebrity. It was a country and Western singer, but you wouldn't know
- 40:52anything about country music because alls you listen to is like Keith Urban and I
- 40:54do not listen. I do listen to Garth Brooks, not even country.
- 41:00Okay, back getting back to the story. The end, Jesus Christ.
- 41:07Okay, all right, Well I'm unapologetic about my you'll need Jesus. All
- 41:15right. Well that is us. That is it for tonight. That was
- 41:21it for us. That's it, all right. So you think there's anybody
- 41:30still listening, No, I don't this. Well, one person is addict
- 41:32addicted to b B is upset at me again for interrupting. They all need
- 41:38Jesus and all right, so check us out on Patreon, like us on
- 41:47Facebook, follow us on Instagram, and I guess we will see you next
- 41:54time. By everyone, say bye to you. Oh it's bad luck to
- 42:02be superstitious. Find nothing else. It's working and my hand is bringing it
- 42:12hurting, and I'm sick of this's worry. Bou
