everyone to Full Spectrum Cycling, show number 84. 84. 84. Is it, uh, All Hallows we've, we've, eve tonight? [laughs] Uh, yeah, I guess it is. Uh, no- We've... in two, in two nights. Like Friday?
• 0:36
This is All Hallows- It's Saturday... Eve's eve. Right. Is it? Oh, yeah, I guess- Oh, yeah... the way we look at it. Oh, it's just, uh, it's my wife- It's Eve's eve... it's my wife's birthday is what it is.
• 0:46
Oh, happy birthday, Wendy. So All Hallows' Eve is actually the- It's mine-... the night of the 31st... it's mine and Kim's- Night... anniversary on the Hallows. Oh. The 31st. Oh, yeah. 28 years? Some. No, seven.
• 1:00
That's- Seven... kinda feel- Seven year-ish... feels like 28 years? [laughs] No. No, just hadda, hadda, hadda land on a date- Right... and Halloween works. Goodly, goodly. I got the 29 in this month. 29. Nine. Beautiful.
• 1:17
Nine dime. Very nice. October 4th. Nine dime. That's a great thing, being around for so long with your significant other. Yeah, she'd put up with me. Yeah.
• 1:27
It's- Now she's gotta put up with you for another 18 years or more. Yeah. Phew. Yeah, right. With the youth. I'm not living that long. With the youth. Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm, you know, yeah. Young Daniel.
• 1:37
Happy birthday, Daniel. His birthday was last Friday. One- One... der boy... solid year old. One boy. One der boy. Oh, speaking of Tenacious D, if you've not checked out their, uh- What is the secret of his power?...
• 1:50
um, their cover of, um, Time Warp that they just released to YouTube- Oh... it is definitely worth watching. Oh, sure. Very good. Rocky Horror Time Warp? Yes. [laughs] No. Is there another one? [laughs] I don't think so.
• 2:03
Well, you never know with- [laughs]... you never know with Jack Black. Right. He, it, it's really good. By the way, he's- What, was it Jack-... he's horrible in Community. I'm sorry. I just don't see it. I haven't...
• 2:12
I have to watch that one because he's... Yeah, I- In Community he's pretty good, but he was- Was it Jack Black or Jack White? No. Or Jack Blackwhite? No, it's not Frank Black. Or Jack Black- That's- I'm not-...
• 2:22
Frank Black's the Catholics, you mean, and Barry White? Yeah, Barry White and, right. Lots of, lots- I'm white like, like Francis, not Black like Barry White is? No. I mean- [laughs]...
• 2:34
that's paraphrasing somewhat, but yeah. I know. [laughs] That's why, that's why I'm set, yeah. Little bloodhound- Yeah... for you there, folks. How's everyone doing? Oh, it was a nice day out today.
• 2:45
Turned out better than I thought. Yeah. I had way too many, uh, layers on. I, I- It's that time of year when- Yeah, I went from-... you forget how to dress, right? Right, right. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
• 2:54
I went from like, "Oh, it's 35," to 50. [panting] Yeah. It's like, "Oh, boy." Um, Braptoberfest happened, uh, last week. Braptoberfest. That was a very good time, very good time.
• 3:08
I think I dressed perfectly for it, but I, I don't remember, so. It's chilly. It was, but I felt good- Yeah... the whole ride. Yeah. I didn't really... Yeah. I mean, it could've been worse,
• 3:18
uh, weather-wise, but it all worked out. Nice. Hit the, hit the good places. Yeah. The winds weren't killing anybody out. Right on. Yeah. Even the awesome casket- [laughs] Yeah, it was- [laughs]... sound system...
• 3:35
it looked pretty big. It was big. Yeah. It was a big casket- I mean, I wouldn't want-... with a very large battery-powered speaker on it. Yeah. Yeah. Which would be, like- I really thought it was-...
• 3:44
useful at a concert, kind of a big thing. Yeah. I think it was- I thought it was gonna be a, a speaker smaller. Yeah. And somebody else- Was he expecting, you know, several hundred people or?
• 3:54
No, it was- We don't know this... it was actually perfect sized for the group, but it was Bluetooth and JK had to kinda stay within [laughs] 35 feet of the speaker on his bike. That's how Bluetooth works, man.
• 4:02
[laughs] And so- Yeah, it was, it was interesting. It was a little challenging. It was- Embarrassing... it was interesting. Embarrassing story that like at
• 4:11
28 years ago, my brother, who was heavily investing in stocks, really highly recommended I, you know, invest in this company called Bluetooth, and I thought...
• 4:21
I looked into it and thought it was the most ridiculous freaking thing in the world. Exactly, 'cause you have to- Yeah... you- Gotta be within 30 feet of it. I'm like, "Who the heck wants to do that?"
• 4:28
Yeah, you want the stock, forgot about the stock. Yeah, lo and behold, man, I probably would be not here right now and- No, you'd be within- Well, in 28 years they've- Yeah... doubled the range of it, so- Yeah...
• 4:37
you got something going for it there. You'd be, you'd, you'd be 30 feet away. Should've bought AMD stock in the last year. Anyway, let's not talk about stocks and what if, could've, should've.
• 4:43
Stocks you should've bought. Yeah, that's it. 20- hindsight's 2020 in the stock market. Always. Always. Not 35 feet away. That said, uh- No, it was a rad, it was a rad damn ride. Yeah. And, uh,
• 4:55
we hit all the nice buttons and hung out and it was good stuff. It was socially distanced. We stopped- Yeah... mostly at, at parks and statues.
• 5:06
Uh, one, one bar that had a lot of outside seating just to use their- Yeah... facilities- The toilets... and, uh- Yeah... have a beer and- Nice Yeah.
• 5:15
Well, and I mean, it was kinda cold, so nobody was really outside, so we actually had the lay of the land on that. Right. So it was like, okay.
• 5:23
That's one of those spots where they've got the street closed off so you can have extra capacity and- Nice. Is that on Old World Third or- I think the Badger game was on. Nomad. Nomad. Oh, nice.
• 5:33
Yeah, the Badger game was on, wasn't it? Yeah. I'm pretty sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Watch 'em- Yeah, yeah... watch some Badgers. And there was only like eight people- And then-... outside 'cause it was cold...
• 5:40
and then the greatest quarterback the Badgers ever had got COVID. Sam Morgan? So he's out for three weeks now. His very first game he had five touchdowns or something. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
• 5:49
And he's a red shirt freshman, I think. COVID's everywhere, y'all. And now he, now he has the COVID. Now he has the COVID- COVID, COVID's everywhere... and he's gotta be out for 21 days. 21 days. 21 days.
• 5:57
Which is- Which is, which is more days than he is old, I believe. Yeah. That's just, yeah. True. Well, in years, of course. I, we gathered.
• 6:06
Other than that, he's a superhuman at 21 days old and he's throwing a football and a five-quarterback, uh, touchdown type- That's Wonder Boy. Type thing. Wonder Boy. Wonder Boy. What is the secret of his power?
• 6:17
Um, we had a, also a really nice bonfire at Moto Scoot. Oh, yeah. I love that pit they have. Yeah, it's like- Oh, yeah, that's cool... what is it? It's at least a, it's at least a 55- A good, like, it-...
• 6:27
gallon drum in half, but it might be longer than that... yeah, I think it's two 55- Maybe two of them- Yeah, two 55-gallon drums, yeah... cut in half and then welded together.
• 6:32
It's like, it's like a, I hate to invoke, uh, um, Wrigley Field, but it's like a piss trough from Wrigley Field. Yeah. [laughs] You know what I mean?
• 6:42
It's just like, oh, yeah, just look at a nice piss trough, but full of fire and coolness. Mm-hmm. Which pissing on wouldn't even put out, apparently. Hmm. I tried. Speaking of pissing- Did I?... no more JJW. Yeah?
• 6:54
Jerry Jeff Walker, one of, one of my favorite- Oh, man... my, one of my dad's favorites. Uh, really great singer-songwriter. Passed. And Pissin' in the Wind is one of his most famous songs, so I'd go check that out.
• 7:06
Yeah. If you don't already know him, you should. Y- everybody probably knows Jerry Jeff Walker by now. Everyone our age. [laughs] Right. Well- Oh, and by the way, if I can piggyback on that,
• 7:18
today, which would be two days from now, behind you, uh, baby Huey's 50th deathiversary. Oh, you're right. And he just is... He, he had one album,
• 7:36
and he d- wasn't even alive [laughs] to celebrate it, but had just great shit on it. Ah. That's really too bad when somebody is so creative and they pass so young. Well, have you seen the, the damn... Yeah.
• 7:49
Creativity generally- Yeah... you know. All right. So Moto Scoot, uh, is a scooter place and- [laughs]... motorcycle joint. An occasional three-wheeler, et cetera. Yeah, yeah.
• 8:00
It's a good place if you- They have fun people... are in Milwaukee and you need your small displacement motorcycles mostly, not your, your big ass motorcycles.
• 8:08
And if anyone that works there is listening to this, I'd just like to say, "Hey, Kool-Aid." [laughs] Oh, that Pineapple Express is not the one you want to reach for- No... as the first one. Paula.
• 8:22
That's what I'm saying to myself again and again and again. 8.4% ABV. Oh, boy. Does not help. Oh, boy. Does not help at the end of a ride. I left a glove and- Oh, no. Only one glove...
• 8:35
at least it wasn't your phone this time in the ditch. I know. I was just like, "Son of a bitch, this is absolutely appropriate. At least it was this.
• 8:44
I didn't wanna get into-" How did you even start riding with a glove missing, or did you not have your gloves on because it was nice out and therefore- No, I just, I was like, [laughs] "I have to get the fuck outta here.
• 8:53
[laughs] I just gotta go home. I have to go home." It was closing in on the witching hour. Gotcha. Yeah. Oh, yeah. It was just like, I, uh, if there... Yes, whatever. I'm sure I'll find it again. Gotcha.
• 9:06
[laughs] Um, a- a- apologies to everybody who loves this show. I think our, our one listener called today and said, "Hey, can't get the show from last week. Is it broken?" I'm like, "I don't know.
• 9:17
I'll go check, I guess." Oh. So if you missed last week's show, I'd, I'd- Piggyback them... I'd go back and listen to it. I, I veri- I re-uploaded it and verified that it's working now, so.
• 9:28
God, you sound like I'm at work. Right? It works. I'm sorry if it was out- Piggyback them... for a little bit. I didn't... Uh, yes, of course. I hit, yes, I started workflow. Who do you know wants a Moonlander?
• 9:43
Who do you know wants to have a Moonlander? Oh, is that why the Moonlander's here? We're, yeah, Sam's selling it, and we're gonna- Yeah...
• 9:49
s- he, he had a lot of really expensive parts on that M- on a Moonlander- Yeah, yeah... which are being summarily removed. It'll still be a nice bike with a carbon fork on it and stuff.
• 9:59
But if you can use- Yeah, and, uh-... the Von Schlehdorns... Elfin eight. Yeah, right. Yeah. Eight-speed internal hub. It's, it's a pretty great, you know, it's a great beach bike/
• 10:08
you know, I've, again, I'll go back since I just got another eight-speed today. Yeah. Use an, you use an eight-speed chain. Yep. Nice and tough. They last a long time.
• 10:17
Keep them clean, they'll last you a really long time. Otherwise, they're dirt cheap, so just replace them. Um, they're tough because they're big, and in all honesty, it's a fat bike.
• 10:29
So I wanna ride it where I'm in the sand or the snow, and I don't need any more than eight gears. Away we go. That being said, mine has 16. Feels like a part of you is dying.
• 10:39
Uh, yeah, at least it's an eight-speed, 'cause the 11 didn't really hold up to the, the, the lower- The gears... the lower ratios you would wanna use- Right... on a fat bike. Right.
• 10:47
But, um, this one's been, it was kind of his loaner bike. Uh, it's, I believe, a medium. If anybody's interested, shoot us an email- Yeah... at info@everydaycycles.com. Yeah.
• 10:56
Probably gonna wanna buy it in the- Certainly the-... the greater-... world... tri-state area so that it's- Yeah... not too far away, but don't know how much it's gonna go for. Eight hundo probably, something like that.
• 11:05
I don't give or take. That's, that's totally worth it, but- Not positive. We'll figure it out... Bohemia's five-inch, are those studded, five-inch studs? Well, those are coming off of there 'cause- Okay...
• 11:13
those are- Never mind... those are going on his other bike. Never mind. [laughs] But, I mean, it's worth noting that at least in the Surly camp and, and other,
• 11:23
other, uh, Q brand things, all fat bike stuff is already allocated. There are not gonna be any more. So- Wow... you, y- if you're gonna wait until January or February, good luck with that. We sold three- Wow...
• 11:37
of them last week. Three freaking fat bikes already. And also tires. Tires I would, that's, like- Get on them... get on them because they're, they're gonna be tough to get. Did you get those tires?
• 11:48
I already sold, what tires? The- Oh, they're coming... the extra colossals? The Toboggans. Those aren't- Toboggans... so far those aren't hard to get, but I bet they will because they're dirt cheap for a studded tire.
• 11:58
Eight, 80 bucks or less? Come on. Yeah. That's, that's, that's crazy for a studded tire. I mean, that's like, that's like gives everybody the chance to try studded tires.
• 12:05
That's the studs on a- 45 North [laughs] Right, or a grip stud or whatever, yeah. You know? And, and, you know, not saying they're gonna be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but they're certainly- For a nice-...
• 12:14
gonna be better than-... get through the winter studded tire, yeah Yeah, we're gonna have to run our... We may not have any since I'm gonna put some on my bike to, to try 'em out. Heck, in a...
• 12:23
They gotta be nice- Heck yeah... 'cause they're, they're from your friends over there at Cheng Shin Tire Company. Yeah, yeah. They, they know how to make a tire. They call 'em toboggans- Yeah...
• 12:30
which is ironic since toboggans are supposed to go fast, and these have studs and they're supposed to- Yeah... grip, grip more. Right? They, as, you know, probably designed somewhere where there's no snow in China.
• 12:41
Right. Well, they have snow in some China parts. Well, I know, that's what I'm saying. They not designed there. They probably ran out of good names for winter. Does Hong Kong have snow? I don't know. I don't think so.
• 12:51
I don't know. Uh, yeah, so both bikes and tires, folks. Don't wait or you'll be disappointed, because if you had any
• 13:01
bike dealings this past, uh, alleged summer bike season, it was good luck getting any seven-speed stuff. Good luck getting any eight-speed stuff for repairs. Right.
• 13:10
Good luck finding tubes for your tires, for crying out loud. Right, right, right. I mean, you couldn't get 27 by inch and a quarter tubes for quite a while there. Yeah.
• 13:18
So go ahead and t- take care of your bike before it gets yucky cold outside. Right. Yes. Uh, ch- uh, check your damn, uh, the trust key. The seat, the seat post. The seat post. Seat post checks. Ah, good call.
• 13:31
Twice a year- Yeah... I always check your seat post. Good call. Check, especially if you have a steel frame with an aluminum post. Yes. That's, that's where your real, real icky stuff happens.
• 13:39
But pull that sucker out of there. It, it came up. It came up while I was- On my Univega... having a constitutional and [laughs] yes, it was, yes. So you have heeded your own advice and- Exactly...
• 13:52
made sure that it maneuvers in and out, in and out, in- That's what you should do. Maybe if you-... and out. Maybe with a little lubrication in and out... if it looks derby clean it... Derby?
• 14:01
If it looks dirty- [laughs] If it looks derby... clean it and lube it back up, man. Oh, God. Yeah, just keep going. [laughs] I mean, don't- Don't derby...
• 14:11
don't, don't be looking at my Univega- Don't derby until we have to... my Univega, you know, beautiful frame sitting at home with a seat post stuck in it, okay?
• 14:18
Well, there's a way to get it out, but your paint- I don't wanna-... your paint will never be the same... that paint job is just gorgeous. I can't lose it. Yeah. It's Columbus Tube back too. Yeah, it is. But it's cute.
• 14:27
Yeah. You know, there's another way to do it, it just takes really long. I don't care, I got all the time. With reamers. Yeah. You can ream it. It just keeps, keep reaming it- The time in the world-...
• 14:37
and keep reaming it... it just takes a long time. That's the theme song- But you can do it... of the best- And then once you get it to the right, it just caves, right?
• 14:41
And then you poke a hole in the side and you're like, "I should've just used line and been done with it." Of the best Bond movie, George Lazenby, On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
• 14:50
George Lazenby, We have all the time in the world. Definite. 400 to 600 million for the new one. Is that what there's, somebody's offering so we can finally see it or something? What the hell? Huh? The new Bond movie.
• 15:04
Oh, shit. Fuck. Whatever. [laughs] Oh, shit, fuck stat. Yeah. [laughs] Hey, I didn't tell you. Um- Oh, shit... yeah, I'll just, I'll just watch Spectre- Stat... again and just get the flavor. God damn it. Like,
• 15:17
okay, fine. Fucking stat. It's gonna be the same goddamn movie anyways. Shut the- Yeah, I'm just saying right now. He fucked shit stat.
• 15:26
Tell your listeners out there just right now, go to YouTube and just put that in and enjoy. Just put in fuck shit stat. And enjoy what you are about to watch. Yeah.
• 15:36
That, that's pretty much one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen. That's, yeah, that's pretty outstanding. Uh, hey, we were talking about stocks before. Guess what? Harley's up 22%, or was.
• 15:47
Because they sold off the electric bike? [laughs] Well, I think they spun it off. Okay. They didn't sell it off. Oh, okay. They're still... Okay. They spun it off into a new brand called Serial 1. Serial 1.
• 15:58
It's like Cheerios. They're calling it Serial 1 because that was their f- name of their first motorbike. I- it's a good homage to it. It's, yeah, it is. It, it looks, you know, it, it, it's... I think it's homely.
• 16:12
I, I don't- I believe I sent yesterday-... I don't take as much of offense-... a text message-... as you do... ugly as sin. Yeah. Um, which I, I, it might not be that ugly, but it's pretty ugly.
• 16:20
Um, it's like- I wonder how much they paid for the domain name. Yeah. Right? In the, uh, uh, Little House on the Prairie kind of feel. Not, just, yes, you're there. I'm betting it's gonna be really expensive.
• 16:36
I didn't- I was, I, I was thinking 6K. I'm just, I didn't, I- If, if they can do that for, if they can do that for baby maker prices, they got a- Y'all-... they got a hit on their hands... but they're not.
• 16:44
They're gonna do it for the- Y'all, y'all gave me just, like, the name and the li- and the back and forth. I didn't even hit the damn click. I'm like, "Okay, this is even better." Here it goes.
• 16:53
[laughs] Yeah, I don't, you know what I mean? It's a, it's gon- they're definitely trying to hit, they're gonna try to hit a niche market. Sure.
• 17:02
Um, which, which I think is, is interesting, but I think that price point's gonna, they're not gonna be around trying to do that. Unless they just wanna only sell a couple hundred to maybe 1,000 bikes a year.
• 17:16
From what I can tell by zooming in on it, it, it's an aluminum frame at least, the one that they've got. Yeah, it does. Yeah. It doesn't look carbon and- Belt drive... belt drive and fancy white tires. Yeah, yeah.
• 17:27
So they're, they're going for a Harley-esque of, you know- Oh, yeah... appeal. Yeah. I can see- Which I fully understand... I can see 300 pound guys with beards down to their knees riding that thing.
• 17:35
Yeah, going like, ah. If it'll hold a 300 pound guy, that's- No, well, no, that's like the, uh, ding, ding, ding, down from- Mm... from Harley down- Speaking of ding, ding, ding... down, down to bicycle.
• 17:49
[bell ringing] Ding, ding, ding. Oh, what is it? Oh, look, we're down. We're at the top of the hill again. Oh. Just a week ago we were at the top of a different hill. Yeah. What did we get? Tony went- Are we there again?
• 18:00
Tony brought beer today. I don't know. When I walked down we... Oh, I owe you some money for this beer. Oh, we didn't have any beer before, so Tony went over and got some. I think, have we had this before?
• 18:08
Well, I know it's half so far. I don't know if we've had it on this show. I think we have. I mean, if we haven't- We've had a version of it... it should always be on it because it's- Dogfish always is... yeah.
• 18:14
Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. Yeah. No, no, we had the, uh, the, uh, the duh The, um, Grateful Dead one. Oh. Oh, we had that one. We've had more than one- Yeah... Dogfish. Yeah, yeah.
• 18:26
Well, I'm- Yeah, no, no, I'm just saying not this exact one. Because they're pretty good. Yeah. And these are predictable. Oh, yeah, 60 minute. All right, 6%. Is that what it means? Yep. Okay.
• 18:38
[laughs] Thank you, predictability. I did not- I did not know that... I did not see anything on there telling me, so. 90, 90 minute. 90 or nine. 9%. Oh. Wow. I guess that makes sense- Well-...
• 18:48
'cause the 120's just unbearable for me. Exactly. That stuff's like drinking tar. Like 12%. It's 12% tar. Do, ba-do, do. Occasional Mike lands. Another fun fact. Yes, he does. Just like a super- Another fun fact...
• 19:03
superhero landing. Ching. [laughs] He did. Hey, Greg, what you got there? I've got a, I've- Something you dig? I've, I've gotta take some pictures of this, so it's a- Is it something you dig? It's actually...
• 19:15
Well, the company is, 'cause we've talked about them before. They make my backpack, my everyday pack, Peak Design. They, they're... I think they're, a- after this one, which is, it's, it's an i- it's a phone case
• 19:27
system, and they have a ton of stuff, including a tripod mount, a bike mount, a motorcycle mount, a car mount, a wall mount, a char- that there's all sorts of stuff in the system, and they just started a Kickstarter, and they were nice enough to send us a thing to test out.
• 19:42
Yeah, it looks like- And it looks like a... [imitates phone wobbling] Um- Well, it, it looks like it's holding whatever this sticker is. Yeah, it looks sturdy as, as- It's got a magnetic deal on the back...
• 19:50
for life's concerned. But, um, yeah. And, and, well, well, they're, we'll show, we'll show some pictures. That's pretty cool. I am doing a review on it, 'cause I think it's really a cool product.
• 19:56
And I just, I, I love their stuff, and I think if this one is successful, it was already at a million and a half after a week. Oh. And they will be, they will still be- How much is it? What are they asking for it?
• 20:06
Uh, the case itself is, like, 40 bucks retail, so on Kickstarter it's less. And you can do whatever of the accessories you want. There's- Accessory... there's many of them. This is a tripod on this one.
• 20:16
That's what you said. Um, but, uh, all their stuff that I've ever bought, uh, has been really high quality and lasts forever, and it's very well-designed, so I don't expect any less from this. This is a pre-production,
• 20:30
uh, sample, and it just feels so... It feels solid. Yeah. It feels nice. It feels good in your hand. It feels like the- But if it only exists as a little ad, Greg- Oh, yeah, I just, I, uh, I noticed-...
• 20:37
how do you know they're gonna mass produce?... I noticed the, uh- Well- This is a really nice design... I can tell you that they're well thought out. Holy shit. 'Cause there's just stupid stuff. Yeah.
• 20:44
Like the, when you put the mount on your bike, which goes right over the center of your stem, which is super cool, um, there's even an O-ring on the bolt so you don't lose your bolt.
• 20:52
You know, just stuff is well thought out. I'm not saying nobody's done it in the past- Yeah... but this works pretty well. So- All right. We're gonna w- w- Yeah, it just, it has a good magnetic- It goes kersnat...
• 21:03
