- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:10Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes eight hundred and eighty through eight
- 0:15Speaker 1: hundred and eighty two. Sabo goes into action. All the
- 0:19Speaker 1: captains of the Revolutionary Army appear going into action, the
- 0:24Speaker 1: implacable new Admiral of the Fleet, Sakazuki, and the paramount
- 0:30Speaker 1: war the inherited will of the King of the Pirates.
- 0:37Speaker 1: In these episodes, we do have a lot of flashbacks,
- 0:41Speaker 1: but we do also get some new stuff, and we
- 0:45Speaker 1: are heading into reverie and I am really curious how
- 0:48Speaker 1: all this is going to go. Welcome to spoil Me,
- 1:11Speaker 1: Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you
- 1:15Speaker 1: very much to Florian for commissioning this episode. Florian is
- 1:21Speaker 1: here in the chat and unfortunately sent me a message
- 1:24Speaker 1: that I missed, saying that there were some cover stories
- 1:27Speaker 1: that I could read if I felt like there wasn't
- 1:29Speaker 1: really going to be enough to talk about because so
- 1:32Speaker 1: much of these episodes are flashbacks. I am going to
- 1:39Speaker 1: you know, I feel like there's like enough, I really do,
- 1:43Speaker 1: despite there being a lot of flashbacks, because like what
- 1:47Speaker 1: we get is pretty new information. But we'll see. Florian
- 1:52Speaker 1: says if you have time, you can make a live reaction,
- 1:56Speaker 1: or I can just ask some questions like arc and
- 1:59Speaker 1: character rankings. It's been a while. It's also a good
- 2:01Speaker 1: time to reflect over bigger plot points. Yes, I think
- 2:05Speaker 1: that's all fair. So I like, what's I'm gonna talk
- 2:14Speaker 1: about one of my favorite bits ever in this episode
- 2:21Speaker 1: because I just when I tell you guys that I
- 2:24Speaker 1: was losing it, and then I tried to like explain
- 2:28Speaker 1: to my husband and you know what, You know how
- 2:30Speaker 1: it is when you start to like relay a joke
- 2:35Speaker 1: and it's still so funny to you that you can't
- 2:39Speaker 1: fully get it out and you just make yourself laugh again.
- 2:44Speaker 1: But then you also oversell it because it's like you
- 2:49Speaker 1: laughed so hard that the person who was waiting for
- 2:53Speaker 1: you to fucking get to the point really started to
- 2:55Speaker 1: have a pretty high expectation of how good this joke
- 2:58Speaker 1: was going to be because of the way you were.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I was trying to tell him about this crow man
- 3:10Speaker 1: in this episode. Was his name Raven something This bit
- 3:16Speaker 1: where he's like inaudible and he keeps saying stuff but
- 3:21Speaker 1: he's super muffled, and even the villain character that he's
- 3:26Speaker 1: like talking shit to is like, did he just say something?
- 3:29Speaker 1: What was that? And then eventually at the end of
- 3:33Speaker 1: the episode, one of his cohort is like, hey man,
- 3:37Speaker 1: by the way, you forgot to turn the speaker on
- 3:39Speaker 1: in your mask. I could not explain to you why
- 3:45Speaker 1: I fell out so fucking bad, but I lost my shit.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I think I think the reason it got me so
- 3:54Speaker 1: bad is because I began to accept that his thing
- 4:01Speaker 1: was simply going to be that you can't really hear
- 4:03Speaker 1: him very well. So there being another joke about this
- 4:08Speaker 1: that like kind of comes as a surprise later and
- 4:11Speaker 1: undoes that expectation. It was just a really fun one
- 4:16Speaker 1: to punch of, like because he looks quite intimidating as well.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I think that might be part of it too, is
- 4:22Speaker 1: just that he has a look where you're kind of like,
- 4:25Speaker 1: oh shit, this guy is probably, you know, gonna be
- 4:30Speaker 1: like a real and then and you can barely fucking
- 4:35Speaker 1: hear him, y'all. It was so good, it was so
- 4:40Speaker 1: fucking stupid. So anyway, I just had to start with
- 4:45Speaker 1: that because I it's been a while since there's been
- 4:49Speaker 1: an introduction to a character that had me so delighted
- 4:56Speaker 1: both about the aesthetic but also about you know, who
- 5:01Speaker 1: they seem to be as a person, as a character,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and this whole thing with Sabo. I'll be honest, guys,
- 5:10Speaker 1: you all know that I like Sabo and was delighted
- 5:14Speaker 1: that he wasn't dead because I was thinking I believed
- 5:18Speaker 1: that he had died. And so when I saw that
- 5:22Speaker 1: this episode was named after him, I was like, oh, cool,
- 5:25Speaker 1: were getting Sabo in the mix here, And then it
- 5:30Speaker 1: starts off in such a way that I became very
- 5:33Speaker 1: convinced I had missed something, and like, I stopped and
- 5:36Speaker 1: double checked the episode numbers and everything, because it's I
- 5:41Speaker 1: think that part of it as well. And this isn't
- 5:44Speaker 1: like not the show's fault at all. It's really more
- 5:46Speaker 1: Crunchy Role. Crunchy Role has all of these episodes organized
- 5:51Speaker 1: into arcs rather than seasons like most shows, because this
- 5:55Speaker 1: doesn't have seasons, and this episode is showing still as
- 6:00Speaker 1: part of the whole cake arc, and so when I
- 6:06Speaker 1: see that, I'm expecting that it's still sort of tying
- 6:10Speaker 1: together some of those loose ends. And I'm understanding now
- 6:15Speaker 1: that when you organize things according to arc, it does
- 6:19Speaker 1: get a little tricky, because what do you do with
- 6:22Speaker 1: the episodes where everybody is sort of in between traveling
- 6:26Speaker 1: toward the location of the next arc. And the Whole
- 6:31Speaker 1: Cake arc ends a lot sooner than I thought it would,
- 6:35Speaker 1: because I have been looking and seeing like, oh, there's
- 6:38Speaker 1: another twelve episodes in this arc. No there aren't. They
- 6:42Speaker 1: are well out of Whole Cake and there are still like,
- 6:46Speaker 1: you know, several groups of episodes to go. So I
- 6:50Speaker 1: think that's part of what happened. Was like I started
- 6:53Speaker 1: the episode and I was thinking that maybe we were
- 6:55Speaker 1: going to touch base again with some of the people
- 6:58Speaker 1: at Whole Cake, touch base big Mom, see what she's like,
- 7:02Speaker 1: how she's continuing to react to the news about Loufy,
- 7:06Speaker 1: or maybe go and see Putting, or even maybe check
- 7:12Speaker 1: in with Lola. You know. I know that she hasn't
- 7:14Speaker 1: been part of things for a minute, but I would
- 7:16Speaker 1: be down for that. And so when we start a
- 7:21Speaker 1: whole other plot line where we're dealing with a completely
- 7:25Speaker 1: separate conflict, I thought maybe we were doing like a
- 7:30Speaker 1: filler episode, or that I had missed something, you know,
- 7:36Speaker 1: And it turns out that we are just getting a
- 7:41Speaker 1: look at what Sabo's team in general is up to.
- 7:46Speaker 1: And the fact that I say to Sabo, it's really
- 7:50Speaker 1: Dragon's team. But Dragon is so like he just is
- 7:59Speaker 1: so non communicative, you know, he just has like two
- 8:04Speaker 1: lines in all these episodes. And as much as I
- 8:09Speaker 1: know that technically he's probably considered the guy in charge,
- 8:15Speaker 1: I don't feel like I know him at all, and
- 8:18Speaker 1: I don't feel like he seems to be the catalyst
- 8:21Speaker 1: for like action. So I don't dislike him or anything.
- 8:27Speaker 1: It's just that I forget about him because he doesn't
- 8:29Speaker 1: feel very important yet other than as a spokesperson and
- 8:33Speaker 1: like a recognizable face to the revolutionaries. Does that make sense?
- 8:39Speaker 1: So I guess what I'm saying is like I'm sort
- 8:41Speaker 1: of waiting for him to do more and become somebody
- 8:47Speaker 1: that feels like he just feels sort of like a
- 8:51Speaker 1: figurehead right now. And the way that it's talked about
- 8:57Speaker 1: in the episode, like he eventually tells Oba like, Okay,
- 9:00Speaker 1: it's time for you to do your thing, and I
- 9:05Speaker 1: was about to call her Sabo's girlfriend, and I just realized,
- 9:07Speaker 1: I don't even know that that's true. But she says
- 9:09Speaker 1: something to Sabo like you're up, it's time, Like evidently
- 9:13Speaker 1: this new responsibility is a recent development, So me acting
- 9:20Speaker 1: like this is Sabo's crew. Is just me like behaving
- 9:24Speaker 1: as if the way he is, the role he plays
- 9:29Speaker 1: in the group now is the role he's always played,
- 9:31Speaker 1: which obviously is not true and this is a new thing,
- 9:35Speaker 1: but I still, because we've only joined since you know,
- 9:39Speaker 1: he's been a part of this, I see it as
- 9:43Speaker 1: that he's the guy and Dragon I kind of need
- 9:48Speaker 1: you if you want this to like be your group,
- 9:52Speaker 1: I need you to like earn that back by doing
- 9:54Speaker 1: more things. I don't Florian, you know what hears something?
- 10:00Speaker 1: Oh Kowala is her name? Thank you? Florien Florence. Is
- 10:03Speaker 1: she Sabo's girlfriend? Are they like romantic or is it
- 10:08Speaker 1: just a friend? Because they It's sort of weird because
- 10:11Speaker 1: like my instinct is to put them as a couple
- 10:14Speaker 1: just because it's a boy and a girl and they're
- 10:16Speaker 1: around the same age, but the fact that they also
- 10:19Speaker 1: dress so alike is almost brother sister, which is a
- 10:21Speaker 1: little weird. I don't know, Florien says, not official, Okay,
- 10:25Speaker 1: not Facebook official, but yeah, anyway, what I was going
- 10:31Speaker 1: to ask is what have we seen Dragon do besides
- 10:40Speaker 1: rescue Loofy from being executed that time. I'm not saying
- 10:44Speaker 1: besides that, as if to like minimize that, it just
- 10:50Speaker 1: I don't I can't recall other big moments of his
- 10:58Speaker 1: and I don't trust my own memory when it comes
- 11:02Speaker 1: to this show because there's so much and I covered
- 11:06Speaker 1: a lot of this show during COVID times, which is
- 11:11Speaker 1: just a real blur. In some ways. I feel like
- 11:15Speaker 1: COVID also fucked with my memory, so there's a lot
- 11:18Speaker 1: of factors there that add up to me just really
- 11:21Speaker 1: not remembering. He also saved people in Lufy's hometown from
- 11:27Speaker 1: the Big Fire. Oh right, right, Okay, yeah, okay, I mean, like, look,
- 11:38Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not saying that I don't like Dragon.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I know I keep saying this, but I really really
- 11:46Speaker 1: it's just more like there's a sort of whispered, hushed
- 11:50Speaker 1: awe surrounding his name a lot. But other than the
- 11:55Speaker 1: fact that he looks pretty badass and is like has
- 11:58Speaker 1: like a group of people following him, I haven't really
- 12:03Speaker 1: seen much reasoning for the way that people seem to
- 12:08Speaker 1: regard him, And there are other folks with badass abilities
- 12:14Speaker 1: or histories who lead groups of people as well. I
- 12:17Speaker 1: think it's just that he has the guts to stand
- 12:20Speaker 1: up to the world government. That's really the thing, which
- 12:23Speaker 1: is fine. But I haven't gotten to see a lot
- 12:26Speaker 1: of that either in action, so I think that's part
- 12:30Speaker 1: of it, is like it just hasn't made that much
- 12:31Speaker 1: of an impression on me yet. Florian says he created
- 12:37Speaker 1: a path for them by creating wind. Question mark, We
- 12:40Speaker 1: don't know his powers. Wind would be strong in a
- 12:43Speaker 1: world of ships, that's true. The thing with Lufy was
- 12:47Speaker 1: like lightning, so it may be that he has some
- 12:51Speaker 1: sort of general weather power, which would be I'm just
- 12:57Speaker 1: thinking about like Nami and her having the climb attacked,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and how he could potentially have like a supercharged version
- 13:03Speaker 1: of that. And if I were Nami and I met
- 13:07Speaker 1: somebody who had like the weather weather fruit, would I
- 13:10Speaker 1: be pissed and be like, oh, sure, I thought my
- 13:13Speaker 1: thing was cool, and yet I get shown up by
- 13:15Speaker 1: a devil fruit eater yet again. So I'm going to
- 13:22Speaker 1: to like back up a little here, because we meet
- 13:27Speaker 1: the villain of this little this moment. He's such a
- 13:33Speaker 1: He's so the villains whenever you're you're in a small
- 13:39Speaker 1: arc it are it's always so embarrassing because they have
- 13:43Speaker 1: to like grandstand in the same way that big badass
- 13:47Speaker 1: villains have to grandstand, but they don't know that they're
- 13:51Speaker 1: not big badasses and that everybody kind of is like
- 13:54Speaker 1: this guy. So this dude's name is Peach Beard. And
- 14:02Speaker 1: I don't know about y'all, but Peach Beard is simply
- 14:10Speaker 1: not really hitting for me. It's not a good name.
- 14:17Speaker 1: I'll tell you what. I'm gonna be very straight and
- 14:21Speaker 1: say it just sounds like you're talking about pubic hare,
- 14:26Speaker 1: you know, like peach is often used as an emoji
- 14:29Speaker 1: or slang for ass, pussy whatever, and beard boom. It
- 14:39Speaker 1: just really makes me feel like he's talking about pubic
- 14:44Speaker 1: hair on a woman specifically, but like not exclusively. I
- 14:53Speaker 1: he should have run past a pr agent with this.
- 14:58Speaker 1: This is he had choices, you know, Like he chooses
- 15:02Speaker 1: this name in the episode, is like this is what
- 15:04Speaker 1: I want to be known by? Is it? Though? Like
- 15:11Speaker 1: this this is a big moment for you, and you
- 15:13Speaker 1: really should think about it and reflect and just you know,
- 15:17Speaker 1: like maybe have a small meeting with some of your
- 15:21Speaker 1: second in command, see how they react to it, and
- 15:25Speaker 1: just find just take the temperature of the room regardless.
- 15:32Speaker 1: That's what he chooses, and he is here to just
- 15:36Speaker 1: like take everything including there's a girl who's trying to
- 15:40Speaker 1: hide something from him and he stops her, and we
- 15:43Speaker 1: find out that it's actually this big jar of milk
- 15:47Speaker 1: that she wants to keep for the children for like
- 15:50Speaker 1: their nutrition, and he won't like leave it alone. When
- 15:57Speaker 1: he sees that she's hiding something, he targets her, expecting
- 16:00Speaker 1: it to be like a real treasure, and then it
- 16:04Speaker 1: turns out to be milk, and he's like, oh, is
- 16:06Speaker 1: that all it is? Well, that's cool. I'm still going
- 16:11Speaker 1: to take it from you, though, And she tries to
- 16:16Speaker 1: argue with him, and he hits her across the face.
- 16:20Speaker 1: And when he hits her, she kind of like gets
- 16:25Speaker 1: tossed to the side and lands headfirst between some titties
- 16:32Speaker 1: who belonged to a character whose name I don't know.
- 16:37Speaker 1: This is going to be a little bit of a
- 16:38Speaker 1: thing here, so forgive me, but help me out. I
- 16:45Speaker 1: want to mention that when she lands between these titties,
- 16:49Speaker 1: she does not recoil. She looks down and is sort
- 16:52Speaker 1: of like, oh, titties, But there's no moment of her
- 16:54Speaker 1: going oh and backing away. The street begins to like
- 17:00Speaker 1: push upward and she when the camera so to speak,
- 17:04Speaker 1: turns back to her. She's still at those titties, and
- 17:08Speaker 1: one of her hands is on one of the titties. Now,
- 17:13Speaker 1: it really is giving to me that she's very happy
- 17:17Speaker 1: to be here and is just accepting it. And the
- 17:20Speaker 1: chitty's owner does not seem to mind this. For the record,
- 17:24Speaker 1: she's not mad at it. Florian says, you might not
- 17:29Speaker 1: remember it. This girl was in the Ace cover story.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Definitely do not. You've seen that years ago when we
- 17:34Speaker 1: were about to go into saving Ace. Betty is the
- 17:37Speaker 1: titty woman, thank you, Florian. The titty woman, Betty. So
- 17:45Speaker 1: the street, as I said, begins to sort of swell upward,
- 17:49Speaker 1: and then this huge, weird trident comes out of it,
- 17:53Speaker 1: and it's a trident that's got like a look to
- 17:56Speaker 1: it that we've got more going on here than just
- 17:59Speaker 1: a regular tree. And it's clearly a gadget, you know.
- 18:03Speaker 1: And then a hand comes out and this enormous fucking
- 18:08Speaker 1: dude pulls himself out of the hole, and he's got
- 18:12Speaker 1: a what looks almost like a jet pack on his back,
- 18:18Speaker 1: and he is wearing only what looks to be a
- 18:25Speaker 1: tiny kilts It's somebody calls it a miniskirt, and it
- 18:30Speaker 1: really does look like a miniskirt due to his size.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I'm not sure if it was intended to be a
- 18:36Speaker 1: miniskirt or if this is just the result of him
- 18:39Speaker 1: being in it, because like anybody out there who's got
- 18:42Speaker 1: a big ass like myself knows, a skirt that is
- 18:45Speaker 1: not intended to be mini can be made mini depending
- 18:50Speaker 1: on your own proportions. And all of a sudden, your
- 18:53Speaker 1: entire ass is out and that was not the fashion
- 18:55Speaker 1: statement that you were trying to make here, so more
- 19:00Speaker 1: is the giant thank you, Florian. So he I love
- 19:06Speaker 1: this morally, just every time somebody mentions what he's marrying, warrying, worrying, marrying,
- 19:14Speaker 1: Oh my god, guys, every time somebody mentions it, he's
- 19:20Speaker 1: like a little self conscious, like he'll put his hand
- 19:22Speaker 1: over his butt. But really, the thing that he keeps
- 19:26Speaker 1: saying is that if you're looking, you must be kind
- 19:29Speaker 1: of into me. And I honestly think this joke is great.
- 19:34Speaker 1: It keeps happening. He's so tall, and so you're expecting
- 19:41Speaker 1: what he says to be like really threatening, and then
- 19:45Speaker 1: it's just like, if you're into me, then just say so.
- 19:49Speaker 1: And the way that he doesn't seem to be fussed
- 19:55Speaker 1: whether it's men or women. He's fine either way. It's
- 20:00Speaker 1: giving ally Loki And I don't know, Morley, I'm just
- 20:04Speaker 1: kind of here for it. I like this energy a
- 20:06Speaker 1: whole lot. So, yeah, him coming out from under the street,
- 20:13Speaker 1: not clear exactly what it was that he was doing
- 20:17Speaker 1: under there, but he can like manipulate the street around him.
- 20:23Speaker 1: He is able to sort of I don't know what
- 20:25Speaker 1: the word is, like he sort of scoops it. It
- 20:28Speaker 1: feels like with the trident, and the whole thing ripples
- 20:31Speaker 1: like it's a piece of fabric or something, or like
- 20:34Speaker 1: he's stirring the surface of a pot of liquid and
- 20:37Speaker 1: it's just like moving. And so these dudes can't even
- 20:42Speaker 1: stand up to attack. They're like, you know, there's no
- 20:45Speaker 1: steady ground to walk on. So this is when Betty
- 20:52Speaker 1: starts her thing. Betty has got to be the subject
- 20:58Speaker 1: of a lot of fans of femdom because her entire
- 21:05Speaker 1: vibe is I'm going to humiliate you and then I'm
- 21:09Speaker 1: going to make you feel good with like one or
- 21:11Speaker 1: two tiny crumbs of praise. And it just is a
- 21:17Speaker 1: very very specific type of attitude that I have no
- 21:22Speaker 1: doubt is a whole thing for a lot of people.
- 21:26Speaker 1: So she comes in here calling all the townsfolk submissive
- 21:31Speaker 1: pieces of trash because they haven't like stood up against
- 21:36Speaker 1: these guys. And I do love when she says that.
- 21:39Speaker 1: One of them just says, hey, that's rude. Apparently she
- 21:45Speaker 1: has an ability that can instill in them a huge
- 21:50Speaker 1: like boost in their confidence and a sense of power,
- 21:56Speaker 1: which we will get to in a moment. First we
- 22:01Speaker 1: have to meet this other dude who is a Is
- 22:06Speaker 1: this a cat? I think it's a cat. The it
- 22:14Speaker 1: gets called a monkey, but it looks cat like to me. Uh,
- 22:21Speaker 1: let's see. Florian says they are gender terms. Have to
- 22:29Speaker 1: look them up. She too, part of mister two and
- 22:33Speaker 1: Ivan's clan. One might say, wait, are you saying that
- 22:37Speaker 1: Morley is she her? Lindbergh is a mink with a jetpack,
- 22:46Speaker 1: a mink cat though, or it's hard to say because
- 22:53Speaker 1: he's got like so many so much equipment on. Yes,
- 22:59Speaker 1: a cat, and she her for the giant. Okay, so
- 23:03Speaker 1: more Liza she here, I predict I am going to
- 23:06Speaker 1: fuck that up a little bit. So apologies, guys, I'm
- 23:09Speaker 1: gonna I'm really really gonna try, I swear, but this
- 23:12Speaker 1: is the sort of thing that programming can make difficult,
- 23:16Speaker 1: so I'm just wanting to get out ahead of that
- 23:19Speaker 1: a little bit. And then we have the like huge
- 23:25Speaker 1: murder of crows that flies up over the entire town
- 23:31Speaker 1: and assembles into a person. These this is I mean, look,
- 23:37Speaker 1: there is a reason why crows and ravens are like
- 23:42Speaker 1: beloved animals to certain aesthetics, they're rad as hell. I
- 23:48Speaker 1: I'm so sorry, but it's just really hard for me
- 23:51Speaker 1: to ever like, there are certain things aesthetically that are
- 23:58Speaker 1: overused to a point where I don't find them cool
- 24:01Speaker 1: anymore because they just remind me of like goth wannabes
- 24:07Speaker 1: and whatnot. And then there are things like this which
- 24:10Speaker 1: just transcend that, and there's no it's always cool. It
- 24:14Speaker 1: just always is it Just so, this dude forms and
- 24:19Speaker 1: he's real weird looking. He's got extremely pale skin with
- 24:26Speaker 1: like a gray undertone and heavy eyeliner pointed ears, and
- 24:33Speaker 1: I think a bald head. It's possible that it's hidden
- 24:38Speaker 1: on like his hair is hidden somehow, but I think
- 24:40Speaker 1: it's a bald head, and that what I'm seeing on
- 24:44Speaker 1: his head is the strap to the mask. And this
- 24:49Speaker 1: is when he says, like how Darry try to horrm
- 24:52Speaker 1: the innocent and it's like the first time you hear
- 24:54Speaker 1: him speak and you can hardly hear him, and it's
- 24:56Speaker 1: really it's very, very funny. So one of the people
- 25:06Speaker 1: yells like one of peach Beard's men yells something like,
- 25:10Speaker 1: these are four of the captains of the Revolutionary Army,
- 25:14Speaker 1: and peach Beard immediately just goes what And we get
- 25:21Speaker 1: the intro cards for each one of them, and uh, Betty,
- 25:28Speaker 1: what a fucking g Honestly, So the girl with the
- 25:34Speaker 1: milk who's off to the side is just like, wait, revolutionaries,
- 25:39Speaker 1: are they here to help? And I'm like, obviously one
- 25:42Speaker 1: of them just told him to stop. We go back
- 25:45Speaker 1: to the Sonny here and Lufi is getting patched up
- 25:50Speaker 1: by Chopper and he asks Nami, because she's reading the
- 25:57Speaker 1: newspaper with Carot, if there's any news in about Sabo,
- 26:01Speaker 1: and she says that she doesn't see anything other than
- 26:04Speaker 1: the fact that the headquarters of the Revolutionary Army was
- 26:10Speaker 1: discovered and destroyed. And we get the narrator explaining to
- 26:17Speaker 1: us who the Revolutionary Army is, the fact that they
- 26:21Speaker 1: want to overtake the world government and destroy it. The
- 26:26Speaker 1: whole thing with Dragon being Lufy's dad, et cetera, et cetera.
- 26:32Speaker 1: And then we go to Dragon and Koala and they
- 26:37Speaker 1: are meeting at a new spot where because like they
- 26:41Speaker 1: lost their place and there was nowhere for them to go,
- 26:45Speaker 1: and she's talking about how she was really worried about
- 26:48Speaker 1: what was going to happen to them since they didn't
- 26:51Speaker 1: have a place to call home. It's an officer's meeting,
- 26:57Speaker 1: is what she calls it. And he says this should
- 27:01Speaker 1: serve well as our base of operations for now. I
- 27:04Speaker 1: don't remember if they say exactly where this location is,
- 27:07Speaker 1: but it's very very like pink and purple. It does
- 27:12Speaker 1: not look like cherry blossoms really, but it's got that
- 27:18Speaker 1: kind of energy to it, even the shrubs and the
- 27:23Speaker 1: grass and whatnot. Oh wait, this is uh yeah, yeah, sorry.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Florian's in the chat telling me they're on Ivankov's island.
- 27:33Speaker 1: That's right, right, right. I forgot that because eventually you
- 27:36Speaker 1: see Ivankov, but that's not necessarily indicating that it's their island.
- 27:42Speaker 1: But in the background I can see the like turrets
- 27:46Speaker 1: that have the heart shaped tops. So that's the main
- 27:50Speaker 1: thing that I remember, is like that being the architecture
- 27:54Speaker 1: on the island. It's very funny to me that I
- 28:01Speaker 1: like out of everything. I'm just like, oh, yeah, the
- 28:04Speaker 1: heart shaped turrets. That's the thing. I try to watch
- 28:09Speaker 1: episodes more than once if I can, but often when
- 28:12Speaker 1: I'm recording on a Thursday, after having just covered on Tuesday,
- 28:17Speaker 1: I'm not able to fit into watches, so I'll usually
- 28:22Speaker 1: have like a slightly slipperier grasp on Thursdays than I
- 28:26Speaker 1: do on Tuesdays. But yeah, Ivankov is here, and I
- 28:34Speaker 1: like cheered out loud, very very excited to see them,
- 28:39Speaker 1: and I'm like, it's the kind of thing that I
- 28:45Speaker 1: feel with these episodes and somewhat the previous ones, but
- 28:51Speaker 1: more so with these I feel about them. I think
- 28:57Speaker 1: the way that y'all felt when certain characters were being
- 29:01Speaker 1: introduced years ago, and you knew who they were and
- 29:07Speaker 1: so you were excited for them to be introduced to me,
- 29:09Speaker 1: and I was sort of like, well, but I don't
- 29:12Speaker 1: know any of these people, so this doesn't mean anything
- 29:14Speaker 1: to me. But now I'm in a place where this
- 29:19Speaker 1: all feels like really really fun because we're getting to
- 29:23Speaker 1: see characters we haven't seen in a while. That I
- 29:26Speaker 1: really have some affection for and they're mixed in with
- 29:28Speaker 1: people I don't know, but nevertheless, I just really Ivankov also,
- 29:34Speaker 1: I mean, what a g They one of my favorite
- 29:40Speaker 1: surprises from this show, like, and it's not even close
- 29:45Speaker 1: is ivon Kov's whole like I mean, I mean personality,
- 29:52Speaker 1: the setup in impelled down with this like subculture, the
- 29:58Speaker 1: island it self, and Sanji's fucking story. Notwithstanding, I just
- 30:06Speaker 1: really am excited to see them again, and now that
- 30:11Speaker 1: we have a another like gender bending character in Morally,
- 30:17Speaker 1: there's a lot of delight in me that this revolutionary
- 30:22Speaker 1: army is so queer because that's like correct, right, I mean,
- 30:29Speaker 1: it just is, That's always how it goes. I'm not
- 30:32Speaker 1: trying to say that like queer people aren't out here
- 30:34Speaker 1: fighting for the status quo, because some are, but primarily
- 30:42Speaker 1: if they are being honest about who they are and
- 30:46Speaker 1: what matters to them, they're going to be for revolution
- 30:51Speaker 1: almost always. So anyway, I just I'm almost wishing that
- 31:00Speaker 1: we could just like stay here, you know. But yeah,
- 31:04Speaker 1: so this is when Ivonkov says, you're free to do
- 31:06Speaker 1: as you like here with no judgment, and all of
- 31:10Speaker 1: the people behind Avonkov just throw their arms up and
- 31:13Speaker 1: say feel free to make yourselves nice and comfy, which
- 31:19Speaker 1: I don't know why, but I really liked that wording.
- 31:22Speaker 1: It's not like you're free to do as you like
- 31:24Speaker 1: in a super indulgent, hedonistic sort of way, but more
- 31:29Speaker 1: like maybe you have to mask all the time. You
- 31:32Speaker 1: don't have to do that here, don't worry about it,
- 31:35Speaker 1: which is as somebody who does mask a huge relief.
- 31:41Speaker 1: It's crazy to me, you guys, how I like how
- 31:48Speaker 1: tiring masking is and how often I did it and
- 31:51Speaker 1: didn't realize it, and now when I have to do
- 31:53Speaker 1: it and do realize it, it feels so much more
- 31:56Speaker 1: draining than it used to. It's like, I don't know,
- 31:59Speaker 1: once you give an to it and start to understand it,
- 32:01Speaker 1: it's just like, I don't want to do this anymore.
- 32:05Speaker 1: So I think it's Koala who says something about like,
- 32:10Speaker 1: are you serious he's this late? Where the hell is he?
- 32:13Speaker 1: And van Kov's like he's here already, what are you
- 32:17Speaker 1: talking about? And just like kind of puts a thumb
- 32:20Speaker 1: over their shoulder, and we see Sawbo off to the
- 32:24Speaker 1: side reading the newspaper with a big smile on his face,
- 32:28Speaker 1: and then we have everybody like gathering around and having
- 32:31Speaker 1: a meal and talking about Loofy and what's going on
- 32:34Speaker 1: with him, and the fact that he's like, you know,
- 32:37Speaker 1: really walking in his father's footsteps. Dragon doesn't have much reaction.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I think that I don't know, man, maybe this is
- 32:48Speaker 1: part of my feelings about Dragon, and I wasn't really
- 32:54Speaker 1: realizing it earlier when I was talking about him, But
- 32:57Speaker 1: I think that how he is like Lufy's dad, but
- 33:05Speaker 1: apparently like utterly abandoned him, And now I don't really
- 33:12Speaker 1: see any betrayal of real affection from him other than
- 33:16Speaker 1: saving him from execution. And I would say that like
- 33:20Speaker 1: saving from execution isn't really a mark of affection. It
- 33:26Speaker 1: seems more like duty. Not that some parents wouldn't feel like, sure,
- 33:33Speaker 1: I'll let my kid die whatever. I'm looking at you, judge.
- 33:36Speaker 1: But I think maybe that's part of where it where
- 33:41Speaker 1: things sort of like curdle for me. It's just I
- 33:45Speaker 1: want him to love his son more better, and I
- 33:51Speaker 1: want to feel like when he sees the news about Loufy,
- 33:56Speaker 1: that he's as proud and as excited as a lot
- 34:00Speaker 1: of the other people in Lufy's life. That are not
- 34:04Speaker 1: related to him and who really only knew him, like
- 34:07Speaker 1: for a short time. How Like they react more strongly
- 34:12Speaker 1: than he does a lot. And granted he knows Lufy
- 34:17Speaker 1: less well than all of them, but he is Lufy's dad,
- 34:22Speaker 1: you know, So I don't know, it's a I feel
- 34:27Speaker 1: sort of like, on the other hand, if he felt
- 34:30Speaker 1: proud of him, would I be annoyed because I'm like,
- 34:33Speaker 1: you don't get to feel proud because you fucking abandon him,
- 34:37Speaker 1: Because there's a possibility that I'm gonna feel like that.
- 34:41Speaker 1: It depends on how he acts about feeling proud. Because
- 34:45Speaker 1: there are a lot of parents out there who totally
- 34:49Speaker 1: neglected their children, and then when their kids actually do
- 34:53Speaker 1: well in spite of this shitty parent, they the parent
- 34:58Speaker 1: will like take credit for the fact that their kid
- 35:03Speaker 1: is doing well in a way that's truly audacious. And
- 35:07Speaker 1: you see it a lot because the kinds of people
- 35:10Speaker 1: who are willing to totally abandon their children or be
- 35:13Speaker 1: dead beats are usually really self absorbed, selfish people, and
- 35:19Speaker 1: so of course they're going to see what their child
- 35:21Speaker 1: is doing and take credit for it as if that
- 35:24Speaker 1: is all due to them, because everything is about them
- 35:27Speaker 1: in their own minds, you know. Florian says, Yeah, if
- 35:33Speaker 1: Louvi wasn't Loofy, I would be sad. Bright side is
- 35:36Speaker 1: Lufy does not give a fuck, but not a good
- 35:38Speaker 1: look for now. Yeah, I mean that's definitely a point.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Is like, I don't There are plenty of characters who
- 35:50Speaker 1: if they grew up not knowing who their father was
- 35:53Speaker 1: and found out, they would be like so betrayed, they
- 35:56Speaker 1: would feel like, you know, there would be a real
- 35:59Speaker 1: serious edge to this reveal. And with Loofy, it really
- 36:04Speaker 1: didn't seem like he cared all that much, and he
- 36:09Speaker 1: doesn't seem to have a lot of feelings about the
- 36:11Speaker 1: fact that he was like left to his own devices.
- 36:15Speaker 1: I am. I have to be honest, guys, that as
- 36:23Speaker 1: a character trait with Loofy, it's a double edged sword.
- 36:29Speaker 1: The fact when I say that as a character trait,
- 36:32Speaker 1: not this specifically, but simply the fact that Loofy seems
- 36:36Speaker 1: not to care about things that would matter to most people.
- 36:40Speaker 1: It's part of what makes him so distinctive and so
- 36:44Speaker 1: willing to put it all on the line in the
- 36:46Speaker 1: way that he does, because what matters to most people
- 36:50Speaker 1: is also often the thing that keeps people from taking action.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Loofy is always willing to take action and put it
- 36:58Speaker 1: all on the line no matter what, because he doesn't
- 37:01Speaker 1: have the usual response to whatever is happening. So on
- 37:08Speaker 1: the one hand, I recognize that this kind of eccentricity
- 37:14Speaker 1: about him makes his character and I totally acknowledge that,
- 37:19Speaker 1: and I respect that, But there are times where it
- 37:24Speaker 1: makes him feel like less of a full human being,
- 37:28Speaker 1: and I think that it's part of why I long
- 37:34Speaker 1: for like the Slice of Life episodes where we get
- 37:37Speaker 1: to see everybody just sort of chilling, And part of
- 37:40Speaker 1: also why I like the live action is because that
- 37:45Speaker 1: Loofy feels more like a complete person and slightly more
- 37:51Speaker 1: well rounded, less oblivious in the way of like a
- 37:57Speaker 1: five year old child, and more oblivious in a way
- 38:00Speaker 1: of like, I am choosing to prioritize what I care about,
- 38:04Speaker 1: and that's not a thing I care about, so I'm
- 38:06Speaker 1: just gonna sail right past it, which feels different than
- 38:10Speaker 1: simply being totally unconscious of something in the way that
- 38:14Speaker 1: a child would be unconscious of it. So there are
- 38:19Speaker 1: times where I want Lufhy to have a little bit
- 38:22Speaker 1: more of a reaction, not not huge. I don't need
- 38:27Speaker 1: a naval gazing loofy who's like, oh, my dad abandoned me,
- 38:31Speaker 1: Like that's not exactly it, but I would like a
- 38:34Speaker 1: little like, huh, I wonder what he was off doing
- 38:37Speaker 1: and why he left me there. It doesn't even have
- 38:40Speaker 1: to be accusatory. It can just be curiosity like what
- 38:43Speaker 1: was he up to? Or maybe even like he's fighting
- 38:47Speaker 1: the world government? That sounds good. I would have liked
- 38:50Speaker 1: to do that, Like he could have I could have
- 38:53Speaker 1: helped him, you know anything that's sort of connected a
- 39:01Speaker 1: bit of curiosity in Lufy to his history. But there's
- 39:08Speaker 1: like something about him that feels like he just sprung
- 39:11Speaker 1: fully formed out of the earth, like a little goblin,
- 39:17Speaker 1: and that there is no lore for him. Like if
- 39:21Speaker 1: you told me we never find out who Lufy's parents are,
- 39:25Speaker 1: I would be like, yeah, that tracks we don't need
- 39:28Speaker 1: to who could possibly be his parents? That would be satisfying,
- 39:34Speaker 1: because dude is so completely unique that he feels like
- 39:39Speaker 1: a figment of id brought to life by a fairy.
- 39:44Speaker 1: So all this to say, I understand that he doesn't
- 39:50Speaker 1: seem to be hurt by it. I wouldn't mind a
- 39:53Speaker 1: little bit more like connection from him with this information though,
- 39:59Speaker 1: and I think maybe this is part of what has
- 40:01Speaker 1: me irritated at Dragon as a person. Also, there's a
- 40:09Speaker 1: moment here where Ivankov says something about how Sanji never
- 40:14Speaker 1: mentioned the fact that he was of Vin Smoke and
- 40:17Speaker 1: how they are kind of irritated by that, just like,
- 40:21Speaker 1: I can't believe you didn't tell me. So then we
- 40:25Speaker 1: get all of the team calling in telling Sambo that
- 40:29Speaker 1: they're running late because they ran into some trouble, and
- 40:33Speaker 1: we you know, see, like basically the way that they
- 40:36Speaker 1: are handling everything with the townsfolk. And I love Betty
- 40:46Speaker 1: saying to Morley that peach Beard obviously only wants morally
- 40:54Speaker 1: for her body and morally being like, ugh, yuck, I
- 40:59Speaker 1: don't think so good for you, girly having some standards
- 41:03Speaker 1: because peach Beard is not it. I'm sorry. I just
- 41:09Speaker 1: like Krasu being out here in audible is so fucking funny.
- 41:15Speaker 1: I really hope this is a thing. I'm going to
- 41:18Speaker 1: like take this and the way that this all goes
- 41:21Speaker 1: as an indicator that it's an ongoing thing that he
- 41:24Speaker 1: forgets to turn the speaker on, because I just think
- 41:28Speaker 1: that is so funny, and I really hope it is
- 41:32Speaker 1: just like kind of a bit for this character in particular.
- 41:37Speaker 1: So this is when Betty raises a flag and she says,
- 41:43Speaker 1: it's time for you to earn your destiny. It's not
- 41:46Speaker 1: somebody else's job. Are you just going to cower in fear?
- 41:51Speaker 1: And she has this flag that she swoops across everybody
- 41:55Speaker 1: as she's giving this like motivational speech, and you see
- 41:59Speaker 1: the window. It sort of flood over them and they
- 42:02Speaker 1: all go from expressions of fear to determination and pick
- 42:09Speaker 1: up various things laying in the street that can serve
- 42:12Speaker 1: as weapons, to which peach Beard is like, y'all have
- 42:17Speaker 1: got sticks and we have swords. Do you think that
- 42:23Speaker 1: this is going to work out for you? Because I
- 42:26Speaker 1: can't help but think that's unlikely. And then we have
- 42:30Speaker 1: one of the village men here saying I can't explain it,
- 42:34Speaker 1: but I feel this huge surge of power inside me.
- 42:38Speaker 1: And as he says this, he's looking down at his
- 42:41Speaker 1: bicep and that bitch is bulging and you can see
- 42:45Speaker 1: like the veins in his arm. So I think it's
- 42:49Speaker 1: meant to be not just that they get the the
- 42:57Speaker 1: boost of confidence, but there's actually a physical thing happening
- 43:03Speaker 1: inside their body. And it was so funny because I'm
- 43:06Speaker 1: looking at this and the way that his arm looks. Instantly,
- 43:14Speaker 1: what I thought of is the pump, which is a
- 43:19Speaker 1: thing that body builders will talk about. They when you
- 43:25Speaker 1: work out, there comes a point where your body begins
- 43:29Speaker 1: to send blood into the muscle because exercising that muscle,
- 43:34Speaker 1: by its nature, tears the muscle, and when it heals,
- 43:38Speaker 1: it builds more muscle strands, and that's what causes you
- 43:42Speaker 1: to bulk up. So there is a point during a
- 43:46Speaker 1: workout that's called the pump, and it's when that blood
- 43:51Speaker 1: flow is at its peak. It actually will make you
- 43:55Speaker 1: look like you're more muscular than you are and will
- 43:57Speaker 1: define those areas. And it's a point when a lot
- 44:02Speaker 1: of dudes like to take photos and stuff and pose
- 44:05Speaker 1: because it's like a bit more of an exaggerated look
- 44:08Speaker 1: than how they normally look. And so when this guy
- 44:12Speaker 1: is looking down and I'm like, oh my god, he's
- 44:14Speaker 1: got the pump. And then we have Morley saying you're
- 44:18Speaker 1: feeling the raw power of Betty's pump, pump fruit, and
- 44:21Speaker 1: I was like, no, oh my god, it's literally that.
- 44:26Speaker 1: So I found that really really funny and like there's
- 44:32Speaker 1: a moment in there, such a weird thing to reference,
- 44:38Speaker 1: but old. There's an old video circulating from early days
- 44:47Speaker 1: Arnold Schwarzenegger when he is training in the gym and
- 44:50Speaker 1: he's being asked about like what he likes about working out,
- 44:55Speaker 1: and he says something about the pump itself and that
- 44:58Speaker 1: it feels like better than sex, and he's like, it's
- 45:02Speaker 1: basically like I'm orgasming. Like I can have sex, and
- 45:06Speaker 1: I can have an orgasm, and I can go to
- 45:08Speaker 1: the gym and work out and I can come there too.
- 45:12Speaker 1: So basically, when you watch me lifting, I'm just coming
- 45:16Speaker 1: and coming and coming over and over again. It's the
- 45:20Speaker 1: craziest thing to say, but anyway, that's what I'm thinking here,
- 45:25Speaker 1: is that everybody is feeling the pump and they're basically
- 45:27Speaker 1: just coming and coming and coming over and over again.
- 45:31Speaker 1: And Betty, we do need to talk about what she's
- 45:38Speaker 1: wearing because it's frankly insane. We have a lot of
- 45:44Speaker 1: women's outfits in this show that have their issues. Rebecca
- 45:50Speaker 1: still wins the prize for most inexcusable outfit of any
- 45:58Speaker 1: female character in One Piece. I will say Betty is
- 46:03Speaker 1: a pretty close second. This is absolutely out of pocket.
- 46:09Speaker 1: There's no need. Can we not please, pretty please? She's
- 46:19Speaker 1: got this red top hat with goggles on it, which
- 46:22Speaker 1: is apparently just like an aesthetic thing with a bunch
- 46:25Speaker 1: of the revolutionaries, but there's also horns, like curly horns
- 46:31Speaker 1: coming off it. A little bit too much going on there,
- 46:33Speaker 1: I'll say. Despite those goggles being on her hat, she
- 46:37Speaker 1: herself is also wearing glasses that are like very angular,
- 46:42Speaker 1: like nineteen eighties looking triangular glasses. And off the back
- 46:49Speaker 1: of the hat is this plume that's about the size
- 46:52Speaker 1: of her entire torso that comes down behind her and
- 46:55Speaker 1: looks like this sort of purplish lavender cloud. But then
- 47:01Speaker 1: what we've got is a jacket that has a vaguely
- 47:09Speaker 1: military look to it, where it's got that braiding down
- 47:14Speaker 1: the front and the you know, the sort of loop
- 47:19Speaker 1: and hook connectors, and it's wide open. There's nothing on
- 47:29Speaker 1: under it. It's simply that and titties. And then for
- 47:35Speaker 1: some reason a short necktie, which doesn't really make sense
- 47:42Speaker 1: with the military thing. But like, none of these outfits
- 47:45Speaker 1: ever make sense, so that's really not that big an issue.
- 47:49Speaker 1: And on top of the fact that there's no way
- 47:53Speaker 1: that she could possibly button this jacket because it's obviously
- 47:57Speaker 1: far too small. It's also so so short that it
- 48:02Speaker 1: doesn't even quite pass her rib cage. And she's wearing
- 48:07Speaker 1: a miniskirt of her own, which is also a low rise,
- 48:13Speaker 1: so you've got about four inches of fabric probably, and
- 48:20Speaker 1: then the obligatory thigh high stockings and boots. The stockings
- 48:29Speaker 1: are like a red and white stripe, and then the
- 48:32Speaker 1: boots over those. The mini skirt is a little weird
- 48:36Speaker 1: because it has like a train so in the back
- 48:40Speaker 1: it's longer, but really, for all intents and purposes, that
- 48:45Speaker 1: does not change the fact that it's like a straight
- 48:47Speaker 1: up mini skirt. So anyway, I just really, Oda, can
- 48:54Speaker 1: you just please just like play it cool for once
- 48:59Speaker 1: in your life with a female character, for the love
- 49:02Speaker 1: of god, I come on now. So anyway, she rallies
- 49:11Speaker 1: everybody and you see all of them just be like
- 49:15Speaker 1: fuck yeah and start to attack peach Beard's pirates, and
- 49:20Speaker 1: you have that girl just like actually saying out loud,
- 49:24Speaker 1: this is for the milk, as she like kicks him,
- 49:28Speaker 1: and I like to think in the nutsack, even though
- 49:31Speaker 1: I'm not I do not think that's actually correct, but Yeah,
- 49:35Speaker 1: it's very funny and very satisfying to me. And this
- 49:39Speaker 1: is for the milk. It's just a funny line anyway.
- 49:43Speaker 1: So I really enjoy this, the idea of like we
- 49:48Speaker 1: can come and like save you in quotes. But the
- 49:52Speaker 1: way that we do that is empowering you to rise
- 49:55Speaker 1: up against your own oppressors and unify and have the
- 50:00Speaker 1: courage to do that. And I'll tell you what, we
- 50:03Speaker 1: do need this in the United States right now. So
- 50:06Speaker 1: Betty insane outfit notwithstanding, can you like come here and
- 50:12Speaker 1: just assist us with getting this to this point because
- 50:17Speaker 1: evidently we do really need the help. We don't know
- 50:21Speaker 1: how to rise up. It's not in our it's not
- 50:25Speaker 1: in our blood right now. It's like it got bred
- 50:28Speaker 1: out of us through too much peace and easy living,
- 50:34Speaker 1: and now we don't know how to do it anymore.
- 50:38Speaker 1: So And also she I love this too. After like
- 50:43Speaker 1: beating the shit out of peach Beard, she has him
- 50:48Speaker 1: like trust up and says, okay, guys, well, since you've
- 50:53Speaker 1: got him, here's his wanted poster and how much he's worth,
- 50:57Speaker 1: y'all should definitely like cat in and get the bounty
- 51:02Speaker 1: on him. And that never even occurred. To me, but
- 51:07Speaker 1: like Betty being like, I'm gonna help you guys, help yourselves,
- 51:11Speaker 1: and then I'm going to hand over the prisoner that's
- 51:15Speaker 1: worth some money so that you have some resources with
- 51:18Speaker 1: which you can rebuild. Honestly, I love it. I can't
- 51:25Speaker 1: I do so when I you know, when I criticized
- 51:31Speaker 1: her outfit and everything, I fucking stand by that. But
- 51:33Speaker 1: that's not her fault. That's what she's drawn to look like,
- 51:37Speaker 1: and it is what it is. And personally as a character,
- 51:42Speaker 1: her power is like a favorite for me right now.
- 51:46Speaker 1: I feel that if I were to, like, if I
- 51:53Speaker 1: were to say what I would want my power to be,
- 51:56Speaker 1: I don't think i'd actually pick this one, but I'd
- 52:00Speaker 1: want to pick it. It just doesn't feel like it
- 52:02Speaker 1: would be super useful from day to day. It feels
- 52:06Speaker 1: like the sort of thing that would be a very
- 52:09Speaker 1: specific case and going around rescuing people from pirates. This
- 52:14Speaker 1: is the perfect ability to have when you have that
- 52:17Speaker 1: sort of job. I do not, So, you know, I
- 52:21Speaker 1: don't know. Maybe I could pump up my listening audience
- 52:24Speaker 1: to suddenly all become patrons, and that would be something
- 52:26Speaker 1: I don't know, So I'm gonna jump then into the
- 52:34Speaker 1: second episode, which is almost all War of the Best flashbacks.
- 52:47Speaker 1: It's funny that I didn't see Florian's like message to
- 52:53Speaker 1: me talking about how it's going to be a lot
- 52:54Speaker 1: of recaps next episode, because while watching it, I kept
- 52:59Speaker 1: waiting for the flashbacks to end and to go on
- 53:02Speaker 1: with like the actual plot, and then begin to realize,
- 53:05Speaker 1: I don't, Oh, I'm not sure that's even gonna happen.
- 53:08Speaker 1: I think this might be the whole episode, and it does. Indeed,
- 53:14Speaker 1: it takes up almost the whole thing. But I think
- 53:19Speaker 1: we're just meant to, you know, take away from this
- 53:22Speaker 1: the reminder of the fact that like everything that went
- 53:25Speaker 1: down with impel down with the fact that Lufy is
- 53:28Speaker 1: uh the that he went there to free Ace. There's
- 53:34Speaker 1: a sense for me as well of like potentially Buggy
- 53:41Speaker 1: and Mister three are going to be back in the mix,
- 53:43Speaker 1: and we need to be reminded of the fact that
- 53:46Speaker 1: they kind of worked with Lufy for a minute, even
- 53:49Speaker 1: though they're not really allies. I'm personally, you know, we
- 53:56Speaker 1: have that like little teeny tiny what's the word I
- 54:01Speaker 1: want uh check in? I guess with Buggy where he's
- 54:07Speaker 1: he's got his like body parts spread out under a
- 54:11Speaker 1: cloak in such a way that he looks much bigger
- 54:14Speaker 1: than he did, which I think is actually kind of clever.
- 54:19Speaker 1: So I am looking forward to Buggy and you guys know,
- 54:24Speaker 1: I don't look I'll say I'll say it again, And
- 54:27Speaker 1: I know that this is a really weird thing to
- 54:29Speaker 1: say with the cartoon, but now that we have like
- 54:33Speaker 1: the actor that's cast in the live action for Buggy,
- 54:36Speaker 1: I feel a little bit less weird in saying it.
- 54:42Speaker 1: Buggy in Impelled Down is kind of hot. I don't
- 54:48Speaker 1: know if it's just the like he doesn't have the
- 54:52Speaker 1: hat and his hair is actually pretty good, and I
- 54:57Speaker 1: think that the actor who plays him is pretty attractive himself,
- 55:01Speaker 1: and so having this like look for him in the show.
- 55:07Speaker 1: I'm sure it's a ways away, but kind of looking
- 55:12Speaker 1: forward to it a little bit. So I don't know
- 55:15Speaker 1: if I'm like feeling a little bit more generous toward
- 55:18Speaker 1: him simply because I'm like, well, this is the hot version,
- 55:21Speaker 1: so I think I'm here for it. Mister three ain't shit.
- 55:26Speaker 1: He still ain't shit, nothing changed, same piece of shit.
- 55:31Speaker 1: And I'm scrolling through because there's like we have all
- 55:37Speaker 1: of these different check ins with like Sengoku and oh
- 55:43Speaker 1: my god, what is the guy's name, Sakazuki? Oh, that guy,
- 55:47Speaker 1: he fucking sucks. He sucks so bad. Like I think
- 55:54Speaker 1: that I made myself forget about him because he's so
- 55:58Speaker 1: unpleasant and he's on fortunately a real threat in a
- 56:03Speaker 1: way that's like I don't want to admit that he is,
- 56:06Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, but he I mean everything,
- 56:16Speaker 1: like everything with Ace, everything with white Beard. And then
- 56:21Speaker 1: in these episodes he says something about how like he
- 56:23Speaker 1: really regrets not killing Lufy when he had the chance,
- 56:27Speaker 1: And I am sort of curious about the origin of
- 56:31Speaker 1: this guy, because what happened to make you so fucking
- 56:37Speaker 1: bloodthirsty and so certain of your position? The way that
- 56:43Speaker 1: this guy is just like a feral dog, and being
- 56:52Speaker 1: he's not an assassin because it's too like an assassin
- 56:55Speaker 1: implies that there's something kind of clandestine about it, and
- 56:59Speaker 1: he's not. He's out here just saying shit. But he
- 57:03Speaker 1: feels weirdly out of control to me, and I think
- 57:08Speaker 1: that's the part that I'm kind of responding to, is
- 57:10Speaker 1: like he is allegedly a tool to keep people under control,
- 57:15Speaker 1: but he himself is out of control, and it's a
- 57:20Speaker 1: manifestation in a lot of ways of the weird attitude
- 57:24Speaker 1: a lot of men have regarding emotion, where they try
- 57:27Speaker 1: and act like women are the emotional ones and men
- 57:30Speaker 1: are not, because men only ever get angry, and anger
- 57:35Speaker 1: doesn't count as an emotion, and therefore they are not emotional.
- 57:39Speaker 1: And that's sort of, you know, he sort of like
- 57:42Speaker 1: mentally represents to me all of the worst, most violent
- 57:46Speaker 1: parts of like toxic masculinity. I'm realizing I am at time,
- 57:55Speaker 1: and I was genuinely worried that I wasn't going to
- 57:57Speaker 1: have enough to say, and here I am. You guys,
- 58:00Speaker 1: my god, oh fucking Sengoku too. I hate this dude.
- 58:04Speaker 1: I don't know what it is about Sengoku that I
- 58:06Speaker 1: hate so much either, Like he being part of the
- 58:10Speaker 1: world government is certainly adequate, but I don't know, there's
- 58:13Speaker 1: something about him that really gets under my fucking skin too.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Trying to just like make sure that there's not a
- 58:22Speaker 1: big thing I'm missing here, it's mostly just the fact
- 58:26Speaker 1: that everybody is beginning to gather, and obviously our friends
- 58:31Speaker 1: are going to somehow wind up there too, even though
- 58:33Speaker 1: I'm not really sure how that will make sense for
- 58:38Speaker 1: them and how because it seems like from the world
- 58:43Speaker 1: government are definitely going to be there, so I would
- 58:47Speaker 1: think they'd try to avoid it. And I'm wondering, is
- 58:50Speaker 1: it going to be that they go there knowing what's there?
- 58:52Speaker 1: Are they going to go there not knowing what they're
- 58:54Speaker 1: walking into? Are they going to be captured and brought there?
- 58:57Speaker 1: Are they going to be tricked into coming? I don't know. Sorry,
- 59:05Speaker 1: I'm just like scrolling around here and just making sure.
- 59:09Speaker 1: Oh my god, I was talking about fucking what's his name?
- 59:12Speaker 1: But I'm so sorry that was Akhayinu. That whole thing
- 59:14Speaker 1: about how he's toxic masculinity and killed Ace and all
- 59:18Speaker 1: that was akay knew that I meant. I'm sorry I
- 59:21Speaker 1: got him totally confused. It's been a while since I've
- 59:24Speaker 1: interacted with these characters, so forgive me, guys. But yeah,
- 59:28Speaker 1: a Kaynu is like there's there's other characters like villains
- 59:31Speaker 1: that I've hated more because of their overall personality or
- 59:34Speaker 1: their weird like character design that's kind of gross, But
- 59:38Speaker 1: a Kayenu is the one that I've hated the most
- 59:41Speaker 1: in like a pure sort of you represent an entire
- 59:50Speaker 1: gender's flaws in my eyes, you know what I'm saying.
- 59:56Speaker 1: Florian says, the only thing left is the people arriving
- 59:59Speaker 1: at the rever read Lord Taco or whatever in King Burger.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: You guys, this I am. I am really interested to
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: see more of this because we've met them in the
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: live action. We have seen them, and we've seen King Berger.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure before at least like a short moment.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: You know. It is a stylized like sort of Abe Lincoln,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: like Uncle Sam type of look, with a style of
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: speaking that feels very like Lincoln ish. It's really something.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: It's so funny to be on the receiving end of
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: the type of treatment that usually it's white people inflicting
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: on any non white country. You know, it's we're the
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: ones who will boil down an entire continent to a
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: single stereotype. When it's done to us, it's so fascinating
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: to me because I'm just like, what is it that
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: they're going to zero win on what's going to be
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: the thing, And the fact that with us it's always burgers.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: It seems like when it comes to Japan, I definitely understand,
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: but it's also just like endlessly funny. I'm not mad.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: I just think it's funny. All right, I have to
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: wrap this up, but I'm you know, I think that
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: probably for next time, I'm going to try and like
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: focus a little bit more on exactly who's showing up
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: so that I've got the names down, because since we're
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: going into an arc that it seems a lot of
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: people are coming together for I suspect it will be
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: more important than ever that I start to like remember
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: names and keep things straight, because I think it's otherwise
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: going to get pretty confusing pretty quick, so I will
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: be paying extra attention. But yeah, I uh. Even despite
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: the fact that this was a lot of flashbacks, I
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: actually didn't mind it because it was all flashbacks to
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: things that really happened so long ago now that I
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: had forgotten some of it, so it was I think
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: good for me to go back and revisit. And obviously
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: I needed it since I was calling Okay, you knew
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: by the wrong name the whole time, so you know
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: it's going to happen. All right, guys, thank you again,
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Thank you Florian for commissioning this one. Hope y'all are
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: enjoying the coverage, and until next time, to Loo Motherfuckers.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: That was an unspoiled network podcast.
