Latest / Sri Aurobindo Studies / Overcoming Doubt and Fear of Failure in the Yogic Sadhana Through the Shift from the Ego-Standpoint to the Divine Standpoint
Transcript
- 0:00We seem to be always second guessing ourselves.
- 0:04Are we doing the sadhna in the right way?
- 0:08Is there another method or technique I should be employing?
- 0:12Why am I not seeing the results I expect and desire?
- 0:17Am I even cut out for doing sadhna?
- 0:21Maybe this was all just a big mistake and I should get on with
- 0:25my life, my career, my family and my enjoyment.
- 0:31This second guessing is based in the ego consciousness and it
- 0:35puts this ego personality at the center of everything.
- 0:39There is a fundamental belief, perhaps not actually voiced or
- 0:43even consciously thought, that the Son of the Divine revolves
- 0:48around the earth of our ego sense.
- 0:53If we, however, shift the standpoint, the questions take
- 0:57on very little actual meaning. When we begin to recognize that
- 1:01the Divine is systematically manifesting the universal
- 1:05creation and that those who are called to the yogic path are
- 1:09called under the impulsion of the Divine, it becomes clear
- 1:14that all the second guessing is unnecessary.
- 1:18Each individual is confronted with the unique challenges to
- 1:22which his current development and make up are suited and which
- 1:26he is given the opportunity to work on to bring about the
- 1:30changes that need to occur for the next stage of the evolution
- 1:35of consciousness to manifest and transform life on the earth.
- 1:41Once we recognize this basic truth of our existence, we can
- 1:45begin to accept that constancy in our focus and dedication is
- 1:50the essential factor that we can contribute and that makes the
- 1:55intended result able to manifest in our lives.
- 1:59The Law of Attraction implies that what we focus on with
- 2:03consistency and intensity will be called forth to us over time
- 2:09and through whatever obstacles and difficulties stand in the
- 2:13way, Sri Orobindo notes quote. Whether by Tapasia or surrender
- 2:20does not matter. The one thing is to be firm in
- 2:24setting one's face to the goal. Once 1 is set one's feet on the
- 2:28way, how can one draw back from it to something inferior?
- 2:33IF1 keeps firm, falls do not matter.
- 2:37One rises up again and goes forward.
- 2:40If one is firm towards the goal, there can be on the way to the
- 2:44divine no eventual failure. And if there is something within
- 2:49you that drives as surely there is, falterings or falls or
- 2:54failure of faith make no eventual difference.
- 2:58One has to go on till the struggle is over and there is
- 3:01the straight and open and thornless way before us.
- 3:06You have only to remain quiet and firm in your following of
- 3:09the path and your will to go to the end.
- 3:14If you do that, circumstances will in the end be obliged to
- 3:18shape themselves to your will, because it will be the Divine
- 3:22will in you. And quote reference Sri
