- Robin Axline: hello everybody, and welcome back to Petty and Unbothered. I'm Robin. Tita Lors: I'm Lora Tita Lors Whoops. Forgot who I was. Robin Axline: aka we're happy to welcome you in today and I just wanted to say up top today is a very special episode because we are celebrating my wonderful co-host and friend Lora cue the birthday canon so Tita Lors: Pheesh beo-bsh beh poo poo poo-poo poo poo. Robin Axline: Birthday, birthday, birthday. it's cle correct me if I'm wrong, September seventeenth. Tita Lors: Yes. Robin Axline: And your zodiac sign is Virgo. Yay! Tita Lors: Yes. Robin Axline: I got it right. And Lora, I got you a birthday present. Tita Lors: What no way. Robin Axline: Yeah, well, don't get excited, but Okay. It's enough it's Tita Lors: Okay. I'll get excited if I wanna get excited. Robin Axline: It's it's an episode. And you know, if you think about it, it's either incredibly thoughtful or incredibly lazy, but I'm gonna say it's thoughtful. So Happy birthday. Happy birthday to ya. Woohoo. Tita Lors: Thank you. To yeah. Robin Axline: so I wanted to get today's episode to be a little bit more different because I think birthdays are one of the few times that we get to slow down, celebrate, and really celebrate the person for simply being who they are. And today's all about you. So I reckon there will be some laughs, some well actually brace yourself, some ridiculous questions. Tita Lors: no. Robin Axline: Maybe some nostalgia and then by the end you'll feel as celebrated as you deserve. Alright, so are you ready? Tita Lors: I've ready here you Robin Axline: I'm like way overly excited about this. Like, it's my birthday too. No. For his for his Tita Lors: That's how I felt about yours. Robin Axline: kids too. I censored that one, but I knew you would get me. Good old Mario Will Wilson. Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: so did you know that you share your birthday with the guy who voiced Mario for decades? Yes. Tita Lors: What? No way. I actually didn't know that. Robin Axline: Yes. so I was gonna try to do my best. Mario being like Yahoo! It's me, Mario! Happy birthday, Lora, mamma mia! Let's go Tita Lors: That was so good. Robin Axline: celebrate! Tita Lors: With that. Robin Axline: It's not offensive, it's a Mario impression. Tita Lors: It was so good. Seriously. Also, I didn't even realize it, I totally forgot actually that it was supposed to be. And I brought my Virgo cup. Robin Axline: Whoa. Shh, that is trippy. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: but yes, so that dude's name is Charles Martinet. Who did the voice of Mario? Tita Lors: is he even Italian? Robin Axline: you know, I didn't dive that deep into that, but I it sounds like an Italian name. American voice actor, Tita Lors: It does, yeah. Sounds Italian enough. Robin Axline: best known for Nintendo's Mario, more than three decades. Whoa. His energetic performance has helped define the sound of personality of Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi. Whoa. Tita Lors: wow, all of them. Robin Axline: And since twenty twenty three he has served as Nintendo's Mario ambassador after stepping down from regular voice roles. Whoa. Okay. Yeah. All right. Yes. Hello, birthday twin. and then another one that I thought it was I mean, not like I don't know how much of a football person you are. But another birthday twin is Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback for Kansas City. Yeah, I figured most people do. Tita Lors: I know who that is. Most people know, yeah. Robin Axline: But he's turning thirty one and Tita Lors: little baby. Robin Axline: it basically it means that you're nine years wiser than he is. So ta da. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yes. Woo! He he was probably born the same year as my cousin. Because she was I'm nine years older than her. He is. Robin Axline: tight. so I'm gonna do some questions up top is how do you Tita Lors: Okay. Robin Axline: actually feel about birthdays? Do you like being the center of attention or do you like more of a low-key situation? Tita Lors: I love celebrating birthdays. I think it's like the one time where it you really people a lot of the time people don't focus on themselves and celebrate themselves and like all of the accomplishments and all the things that they have done in the year that they have been alive and the year that they've managed to stay alive. You know, and like the ways that we take care of ourselves and the ways that we get forward and I also love celebrating that we've aged, even though I'm like forty. It's it's so much I'm having a harder time with forty. Thirty was really easy for me. I was like, Yes, I'm grown Forty's a bit harder, it's coming with like some other mental and physical blocks, but I still think it's really cool to celebrate aging and the growth and the learning that you've done in the past year. I love celebrating people's birthdays. I don't really like being center of attention most of the time, but it's the time of the year where I allow myself to like to r just focus on me and not think about other people. So yes, love birthdays. but there was a time where I didn't. Yeah, so I was like, when I was younger, I really didn't like birthdays because I usually got in trouble a lot. Robin Axline: no. Okay, surprise, surprise. Tita Lors: Yeah. So people I think 'cause there's a lot of like tension and whatever, like people were stressed about, you know, Filipinos are always any reason to throw a party and have a gathering and whatever, blah blah blah. But it never actually felt like a birthday for me. It was like a birthday for everybody to get together and just an excuse but it wasn't like about me, except they did get the cake and blow out stuff, but there was a lot of threats along the way. So like Behavior wise for me. yeah, so I had lots of mixed feelings about birthdays. And I I told one of my friends in high school, like, I don't really like birthdays because I always end up crying on my birthday. Yeah, my poor little high school self. And she like got some friends together. We were in choir together. She got the choir to sing happy birthday to me. Yeah, like we all had each other's Robin Axline: Whoa! That's pretty good. Tita Lors: locker combinations. So there's like stuff in my locker and I like got there's just so many amazing surprises and it was so thoughtful and it was so awesome. I was like, Okay, I guess it's like birthdays now. Robin Axline: But also I'd be like, wow, how can you top this? I mean, that's wonderful. Wow, what a what a good vowl. huh. No, I was just like personally I've had mixed feelings as well. Like some years are better than others and some years I think I put too much expectation on myself to be like, it's my birthday, so it's gotta be extra cool and then if what's going on in my head doesn't play out then I feel some type of way like kind of a bummer, like kind of a down. Some some Christmases are like that for me too, where it's like I'm kind of blue. And it's like, well, that wasn't great. And then you just kinda have to get over it. Just have some quiet time. and like Tita Lors: Yeah. Mm-hmm. I've definitely felt that. Robin Axline: Yeah. So I I sometimes feel like just to avoid that, and I and if I definitely want to do something, I will make a plan for myself. So I'm not it sounds so weird, but like I guess not let down. Tita Lors: Yeah, or disappointed. Yeah. Robin Axline: In one. Yeah. Like 'cause and I'm not putting it on anybody else to Tita Lors: Yeah, yeah, very fair. I think that's usually why I will plan stuff for my birthday as well. And I like when a same friend actually was like, You make it so hard to surprise you or to do things for you because you always like do all of these crazy things for your own birthday and I was like, should I stop? Like I know. Did you have fun though? Robin Axline: Sorry? Yeah. It's like a perfect face for that. For your for our YouTube fans. but yeah, so I basically, yeah, I just kinda wanted to see your overall feeling around birthdays, low-keys and retention, all that good stuff. Do you like Say do you let's see. How about like cake and good food? I'm sure those are like top of the Tita Lors: Yes. Good food for sure. Cake a meh about because I don't always really like frosting all too much. like I guess a cupcake would be fine. I don't know. It's not of all of the different treats and delicious things that we can eat, it's not my favorite. Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: I got you. and do you feel like you need to travel anywhere? Tita Lors: you know, I'm a broke girly, so even if I wanted to, I probably couldn't. Robin Axline: Snaps. Yeah. And also do you have like a tradition that you hope never goes away? Tita Lors: Not for me, but I'm I'm really bad at it right now and I'm I wanna be better. For the girls, I want to create a tradition around their birthdays. I create a big thing that I do is half birthdays. So like at at the the halfway point we'll do something small like a like we'll go get ice cream or we're do a thing and I always sing them a very merry unbirthday. Yes. Robin Axline: Alice in Wonderland? Right? Okay. Tita Lors: Yeah. But I sing a very merry half birthday. Yeah. Robin Axline: That's so cute. I love that idea. It's like more celebrations during the year. Tita Lors: Exactly. Right? So you don't it's not just then that you have to celebrate you. It's whenever you want to. So I do that with them. I'm getting I want to be better. Like there's there's people who do the whole on this tie at this time you were born, blah blah blah blah blah. But I just cannot keep track of time like that. So I don't I just can't Robin Axline: Yes. Tita Lors: do it. It doesn't happen for me. So I'm like whatever, it's Robin Axline: hilarious. yeah. I just real quick on the frosting of it all, like stay and z girl. Like it's Tita Lors: Uh-huh. Yeah. Robin Axline: just like it's too much. You know, I just don't get it. I do like the yeah the bakeries kind of leaning towards like natural colorings at places now. Tita Lors: yeah, I really like that. Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: I'm like thank God because when I grew up, you know, my t my teeth and my tongue were like purple at these like Tita Lors: Black even. Robin Axline: yeah. So Tita Lors: Whoa. Robin Axline: and now it's like, this red was made out of beets and like it's a little more conscious in some pl places, yeah. but that being said, and no offense to my sister-in-law. my god. This cake, it was beautiful. It was like lavender icing, it was really pretty. And she got it at some place called I might have to bleep this out, but it was like Cake World or something like that. Tita Lors: Okay. Robin Axline: And so you think like well okay, take room. But it was like Tita Lors: That it should be good, yeah. huh. Robin Axline: the like the ratio of frosting to cake was wild. Like this okay, let's see. So that there was like frosting around the top. It was a s circular, like two layers, and like there was this much frosting on top, then like this much cake, like chocolate. It didn't really taste like chocolate. It Tita Lors: No, no. Robin Axline: was just like a cake flavor. And then this much frosting in between the layers, then that same cake, then like frosting all around. Tita Lors: That's too much. That portion Robin Axline: And like Tita Lors: is not correct. Robin Axline: no, the ratio was like so off. Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: And I I it was like, I'll have some of the frosting, but I'm not gonna eat this whole like that's insane. So I kind of was like trying to eat the cake part and then just have taste of Tita Lors: Mm. Yeah. Yeah. Robin Axline: the frosting. And my niece was like the opposite. She took the cake out and then she just ate the frosting. Yeah. Tita Lors: The Frossi. That's probably why she bought it. Robin Axline: She's like, Well anyways, I just had to throw that little anecdote in there, but wow. Tita Lors: That's so funny. I do really like though. like I had seen it being made in like food network challenges and all of those things. And then I saw it in one of my local bakeries. But actually they do a pretty good job with cakes and different treats, not just necessarily cakes. So it's like a honey cake. So it's like several layers, like several thin layers of cake. And w like a whipped something frosting whatever in between each layer, but it's like thin layers and even around it. It's so, so, so, so good. Yeah, and not like half it with some tea or with some coffee. it's delish, but it's only like it's during it only comes out during a certain time of the year, I think. 'Cause it's like connected to a festival or whatever. So you don't it's not a year round thing. But it's delicious. So I will say I'll eat every part of a honey cake. Memory unlocked. Also, there's like a cake called sanserval, and it's a Filipino cake. And basically tastes like a stick of butter. Robin Axline: gosh. Tita Lors: You're basically eating a stick of butter too. But it's like I forget. It's kind of like what a macaron is made out of. It's like specifically called, but it's that kind of a textured cake. And Robin Axline: Mm-hmm. Tita Lors: then like the whipped stuff in between is basically like whipped butter. And instead of Yeah, exactly. Instead of almonds, it's cashews. Yeah. And that used to be my favorite cake when I was growing up. Be and it's so rich they'll only give you like the smallest little piece of the cake. And I was like, Robin Axline: Ha ha ha ha. I man. wow. That sounds no no Tita Lors: It's it's pretty expensive too. Yeah, okay, sorry. Robin Axline: no, I love that kind of stuff. Cultural desserts. But yeah, I'll have to look out for that too. I think necessary with like you were saying, coffee or tea, especially with a rich thing like that really cuts through. Tita Lors: Mm. Yeah, it does it's so good. So if you there's like a Filipino shop near you and you ever see Sans Cerval Robin Axline: Sure there is in New York City. I'm sure there is. gotta look out for it. but yes, so while actually funny enough, I was gonna start with food, because I heard Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: from a little bird that you like Filipino food, but you also like ramen, a really good ramen. Tita Lors: Yes, I do. Robin Axline: And what makes a really good ramen to you? Tita Lors: I think because they're regional, right? So it's different depending on where you go. So I really like like the bone broth tonkatsu ramen type stuff 'cause it's rich and usually pretty creamy. And then also noodles. Nudes, man. Like it can't just be any nudes. And again, like regionally there's different like noodles. So I think noodle wise it just depends on what kind of ramen I'm getting of whether or not it's good and if it's got like 'cause some noodles have no flavor and some or like the texture isn't like the chew just isn't right. So it's it's that. Robin Axline: Exactly. But yes, I'll bring back a a word from a previous episode, the toothsomeness of the noodles really makes it for Tita Lors: Yes, the toothsomeness. Mm. Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: me too. And like the richness of the broth. And sometimes I would say personally the richness is too much. Tita Lors: I agree. Yeah. Yeah. I Robin Axline: But Tita Lors: do agree with that. Robin Axline: often vegetarian ones are not, but then sometimes I'll run across one that's like, yikes, salt balm. Tita Lors: Yeah. Well I that also makes me kind of curious, like how do they get that like rich deep flavor in a vegetarian one? I g I guess mushrooms, right? Yeah. Robin Axline: Yeah, it's a lot of like umami I guess, like mushrooms and like what is it, like sesame paste sometimes or yeah, those types of things that can kinda like in Miso they put a lot in veggie bross too. So Yeah. And some are very like so mid or below mid and I'm just like I'm never having this ramen again. And some is like awesome, but it's like You know, it's view it's hit and miss for me. Tita Lors: Yeah. Do you ever get pissed off sometimes where you like, you go to get food and it just wasn't worth the money you spent? I just want my money back. Robin Axline: Yeah. yeah. that stuff is wild. Tita Lors: Yeah. Right? Like I get so disappointed that I spent my money on this. And it'll be in like the first bite too. I'll be like, Ugh, damn. Robin Axline: Yeah, you're like all this for man 100% yeah, that happens. and then did you have a special like traditional Filipino dish that you have on the tip of your tongue at all that you might want to have for your birthday? Tita Lors: No, not really. I don't like specif I know, I have specific Filipino dish cravings just on the regular. and it's funny 'cause the craving comes with a specific person that I want to make it. Because they make it a very specific way. Like there's a soup with like a fish. It's a flat fish, small flat fish. And my aunt makes it and it just hits every tie. Yes, and I miss it. She hasn't made it for me in a long time. I don't see that fish out here. So I can't make it for myself and it's just I miss it so much. I don't know why I didn't ask her to make it for me when I was out there, but Yeah. Yeah, but nothing Robin Axline: Next time. Tita Lors: specifically for my birthday, I don't think. Robin Axline: Alright, just checking. The you know, I might surprise you and come to your door with some like like or say, Ta-da. No. Tita Lors: Nice. I would love that. I would take that over a cake. Robin Axline: Yeah, I would I would do that too. Tita Lors: Ha ha ha. Robin Axline: funny enough, the gal that we kind of shouted out about that chicken soup you made, Tita Lors: Uh-huh. Robin Axline: like liked our podcast. Tita Lors: no way. That's so cool. Robin Axline: after that. Yeah, because I I I told I like messaged her. I was like, hey, we talked about your soup recipe and all this. And then she like messaged back. I was like, whoa, cool. So that was tight. also hot fries. I need answers. yes and hi. Hello. Tita Lors: hot fries. Yeah. Yeah. Robin Axline: If you're listening. Tita Lors: Dude, I have used probably I think at least two of your recipes already and maybe one for like inspo that gave me an idea for something else and I was like, this is so helpful. Robin Axline: Hmm. Yeah, so another shout out right there. I don't remember her name. I'm like this. but yeah, Tita Lors: Yeah. Exactly. I know, it's like I don't remember what it is. It was like Theta something. Robin Axline: yeah. maybe we'll put it in the I know we could put it the notes, episode notes, if y'all are curious about this gal's Instagram and she has like a lot of good stuff, so yes, but back to hot fries I need answers. Tita Lors: yes. A hundred percent. Robin Axline: What is this about? Tita Lors: Dude, what do you mean? Robin Axline: Like, I think I've had those before. Tita Lors: You have not had Cheetos hot fries? They're so good. It's like the perfect blend of like cheesy numminess and like spicy. So it's like spicy cheese. is how I it's what I like about it. And then sometimes if you get like a really good bag, they've got the fat, airy ones. And again, it's not a toothsomeness of it because it's not about like how it feels in your teeth. It's more about like the melt, the pop, the crunch to like of it, 'cause it's like it's kind of poofy. Whereas like other ones they're a little bit more condensed and thinner. And so that's got a snap to it. I I feel like I'm so weird when I talk about food sometimes. But yeah, Robin Axline: No, no tres no. Tita Lors: like so there's like different Robin Axline: In the same bag or wow. Tita Lors: In the same bag, yeah, because it's not like a consistent thing. It's not like Pringles where they're all consistently the same snap. so some bags will have more of the poofy ones. I get really excited when I get those. because those are my favorite ones, the like the fat, airy ones versus the thin, condensed ones. But Robin Axline: Yes. Are are they like a similar flavor to hot Cheetos or n or a Zone Beast kind of thing? Tita Lors: I think it's its own beast. So think hot Cheetosla, like flaming hot, but cheesy. Robin Axline: Hmm. Alright, I'm gonna pick me up some of these today. Tita Lors: Yeah, and the crunch is different too. You like, look for just when you open your bag Robin Axline: Yeah, I don't know. I'm listening. Tita Lors: Find the big fat airy one and take a s like chomp out of that one or put that in your mouth, see how it melts, and then find a like little thin condensed one. Snap that. You're you're just gonna feel the difference. And then it's completely it's a completely different toothsomeness to like a Cheetos one. I feel like veggie straws. No, 'cause I guess which veggie straws because there's some of the veggie straws where it's like that square hollow Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: inside and then there's the the other one. Kind of. Like the the Robin Axline: I just was imagining that, but yeah. Tita Lors: Yeah. Yeah, maybe like the thinner ones are kind of the veggie straws. Or you know like those like it this freeze dr dried snappy snack things? Robin Axline: Yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah. Mm-hmm. Tita Lors: That the airiness of that. Kinda like that maybe. Robin Axline: Okay. Got you. Alright, cool. Well, in honor of you, I think I will have to pick some up because I heard that that's a snack that you like. Tita Lors: Ha ha ha. Robin Axline: now on to music. R and B. Is that something that's always on your playlist? Tita Lors: It's it's a a regular, it's a frequent flyer on the playlist. I think yeah, I keep going back to like millennial R and B type stuff or like trying to listen to newer R and B, but I do I like I like my nineties, early two thousands music a lot. Hmm. No, I suck at favorites in that category. Yeah. It's yeah, it's more like a I'll hear a song and be like, shit. Robin Axline: This crank it up. Okay, Tita Lors: Yeah, I haven't heard this in so long. It's so good! Robin Axline: okay. That's cool. yeah, I'm always down for some old school R and B for sure. Tita Lors: Yeah, although I don't know if she's R and B, but I did when I was younger. I wanted to be Aliyah. Robin Axline: God, I could make a whole podcast about Aliah. S like seriously, my heart just like dropped when she passed. that's something I didn't know that we had in common. So interesting. Because Tita Lors: no way. Robin Axline: I was like all about yeah I like had had her albums and like I thought she was just so cool. And the music was just so different. Mm-hmm. And then her acting was very compelling as well. Tita Lors: Yeah. So good though. It was so good. Yeah. Robin Axline: I mean just the small things that she was in, but Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: yeah. Tita Lors: I know, it's that s she's just the queen of the damned. Robin Axline: She sure is. She's just Tita Lors: Ha ha ha. Robin Axline: the Queen of Tant. And Romeo must die, I think, wasn't she? I didn't think anything else that I remember her from. But yeah, she was so awesome. Yeah. well, that's cool. That's really cool to know 'cause yeah, it was all about and then that album, the one that dropped. think it was the self titled one was like so ho like s even sometimes when I put it on still it's a bit haunting, you know. Tita Lors: yeah. I think there was a a time where I was just listening to that discography for a while. Robin Axline: Yeah. geez. Yeah. I'm gonna have to do some something adjacent to that, I have a feeling. Tita Lors: Uh-huh. Robin Axline: and then let's see what else did I have in this segment. Disney. do you have like a favorite character, favorite villain? let's start there. Favorite movie. Tita Lors: I don't have a favorite mm movie. 'Cause I think the movie that I'm thinking of is not necessarily a Disney one. I love Disney. I never saw myself really in the princesses, but Tigger. I have like three Tigger mugs. Robin Axline: Ooh, okay. What? Wow, you've got the mugs. my goodness. Tita Lors: And I back when they used to have this at Disneyland, I made this and it's my ticker droid. Robin Axline: What? Whoa, that's very cool. Tita Lors: Yeah, and I have a tigger pen. And I have Robin Axline: my gosh. Tita Lors: a tigger stuffy, like a small little squishy stuffy. And then like, you know, those fold pillow. I have s I have at least three to four tigger onesies. A s Robin Axline: no way. Tita Lors: a sweater, a jacket, shirt. I have I'm a little bit obsessed. Robin Axline: No, I wouldn't even imagine. Also, when I asked about what your favorite color was, the same bird told me tigger orange. And I was like, Tigger orange. Tita Lors: I mean, does that bird's name start with an R? Robin Axline: Yeah, not me. Tita Lors: I wouldn't say I have a favorite color actually. Robin Axline: Okay. Tita Lors: I think because I'm so obsessed with Tigger that everyone in the family thinks that I'm obsessed with the color orange. Yeah. But I'm like Robin Axline: Okay. Hmm. Okay. All right. Tita Lors: I find myself always being drawn to like bright neon or jewel color tones and things, but no actual specific colours. Yeah. Robin Axline: Okay, all right. I guess I kinda like, I guess that checks out 'cause when we were coming up with our logo design, I think you said like, I I said what shirt color and you're like, probably orange. Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: So I was like, okay. Now I see no but that Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: your explanation makes way more sense. Tita Lors: Yeah, I think a lot of people associate orange with me. Robin Axline: Yeah. how how many times have you been to Disneyland, or do you even know? Tita Lors: I don't think there's a number on that one. 'Cause there was one or two years where the Disney passes were not that expensive. so I bought them and I would go just to have lunch. Or Robin Axline: Damn. Tita Lors: like just to go on like one or two like my two favorite rides are Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean. Robin Axline: I love those rights. Yeah. Tita Lors: Yeah, but right? But the reason that I like Indiana Jones isn't even the actual ride. I love being in the line for Indiana Jones. Robin Axline: Hm, well that's something you don't hear every day. Tita Lors: I know because they specifically created things in that line that are like if you know you know kind of stuff. Like there's a well that says don't touch, don't pull. But of course there's children, so what are children gonna do? Yeah, they're gonna touch and they're gonna pull. So you pull on the rope and if you're the right person to do it or if you get it just right, you'll hear someone go, Whoa! And then splash. Yes. And then more Robin Axline: Wow, that's so cool. Tita Lors: kind of like beginning middle-ish, there's this section where there's a whole bunch of bamboo and then there's like spikes up top. So if you you'll you know it's easy to know which one it is, but there's like a little wobbly bamboo and if you pull it at just the right time or or in just the right way, this it you'll hear a crashing sound. And then the spikes will come down. Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: genius to have things to do while you're waiting. Tita Lors: Exactly. Yeah. And then I think there's like one other thing where if you can tell a cast member what it means, like when they pass by, like you get something, or you can like get to the front of the r line or whatever. I've never done that. But there's so many cool things in just that line and I love pulling on these things and like if nobody's ever seen that before or heard it or like done it themselves, usually if I'm like there with a kid, I'll make the kid do it. So they can experience it and have that magic. Or if there's a kid around me and I'm like, hey did you know the you could pull on this and I'll like have them do it and it's just so fun to see that magic that like kids will experience in in that way or even adults too like when adults are like shit Robin Axline: Mm-hmm. Right. Yeah, Tita Lors: Ha ha ha. Robin Axline: everyone can experience magic. I mean, no age. Age eight nothing but a number for you. So. Mm-hmm. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. Yeah. So I couldn't give you an exact number. Cause there was also another summer where my aunt or another few years where my aunt was working at Disneyland. So she would just be like, I've got tickets. You wanna go? And I'm like, Yes, of course. I know. Give me a time. Robin Axline: Nice. Do you have to ask? Pretty cool. Yeah. I do I don't know if correct me if I'm wrong, but I kind of do remember like with the Indiana Jones of it all that there was like two different lines. You get kind of like a different ride depending on maybe they don't have I don't know. Tita Lors: I think so it's when you're going down and when you're actually on the ride and it's like look into my eyes, blah, blah, blah, blah, Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: blah. So it goes into three different paths and there it I think it goes into like a different direction and there's something that's different about each one. And they each mean something different. Robin Axline: Okay. That's what I kinda remembered. Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: Alright, yeah. It's been a been a long time. Shouldn't have left you without a topic. Tita Lors: Yeah. Earlier you were like, Yeah, I'm feeling kinda blue and in my head I was like da ba-dee-da-da-da-da-de-da-da-da But I was like, This is not the moment. Robin Axline: Yeah. Anytime. Tita Lors: Ha ha. Robin Axline: That's it. man. That's funny. but yeah, Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: that's I definitely want to get back there someday. Or at least Epcot is like so sick. So Tita Lors: I've never been. So that's kind of something that we want to do is go to Universal Studios and Disney World out on this coast 'cause we've never been. But that seems like such an expensive Robin Axline: Yeah. yeah. Tita Lors: thing. It's way more expensive than going to Disneyland because you have to go for multiple days. Robin Axline: Right, yeah. I think when I was there I had like the par copper thing. But the the one that I speaking of Mario, smart about me right now. No but I I definitely wanna go to the universal epic Tita Lors: Yes. Robin Axline: one to go to like Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country and all that would be like so cool, I think. Tita Lors: I think it would be so rad. I feel like we all should meet there soon. Robin Axline: Well, I was thinking you would be such a good person to like go with, like you were saying about like knowing all these little things. You'd be a good Tita Lors: I know more about Disneyland than I know about Disney. I don't think I know much about Disney World. But, you know, there's research. We can figure stuff out. Yeah. Robin Axline: Right? Yeah. There's always research, right? And then I I did like going to the different countries at Epcot, just like, now you're in England so you can have some in British food and it's pretty fun, yeah. Tita Lors: Be so cool. I yeah. I would love that. That'd be so much fun. Something that one of the fun things about going to Disneyland this past year with my girls is they're old enough to like really remember stuff now, especially my big. And she's been to a lot of the areas already, but she doesn't she didn't remember it. So when we walked into Star Wars, we were just like on the path, hadn't quite crossed crossed the threshold yet. And she was like My God. Just immediately transported into a new world. Her mind was blown because there were stormtroopers walking around, Jedi's walking around. She was just like, whoa. And it was the coolest thing. And I even got like I couldn't get my phone out fast enough, but I got a little snapshot of her face and her jaw just dropping and it was so, so cute. It was so awesome. Yeah, for me, I don't know if she's ever gonna remember that, but Robin Axline: It's like a core memory for you too. Tita Lors: I'm for sure gonna remember it. Yeah. And like people just if you can stop being an adult for a moment and just buy into the magic of it. Yes, it's crazy and hectic and like there's a lot of people and a lot of bodies that if you just drop whatever expectations of whoever you're supposed to be and just buy into the magic for a few moments, they the cast members really just make it so special. They do their best to engage with you, to create magic for you, to just really such good customer service. Like we were walking through and we just happened to be like, apparently this is like the light show. We didn't realize it was like the parade and it's not my my favorite parade is the electrical parade, which they stopped doing. I I didn't either. I'm actually really glad that I did get to go the last year that they did it, but I didn't know I didn't know that the last time was the last time. Robin Axline: Ugh, brutal. Tita Lors: I know as I didn't really soak it in or take as many videos as I should have, Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: but Robin Axline: Well, the videos are in your mind, you know. Tita Lors: Exactly, it's there. So they have like a new parade and it's their this new version of the electrical and they have like n notes and nods to the electrical parade. So anyways as we were walking out of the park we realized that we it's gonna be hard to get out because of that. So we just decided to watch it. And one of the cast members were like, Do you princesses wanna come say hi to the princesses? And like pulled them out from behind other people and they were in like an area where normally you're not allowed to walk or be or exist but they got to just be special princesses standing there waving at the parade as it passed by and like all of the princesses and like sometimes they had to go back But she just kept bringing them back out and it they just got this really special moment and I was like, Ugh, this is the coolest day ever Robin Axline: cool. VIP. I mean they're so darn cute. It's like I could totally imagine somebody seeing them and being like, come on up here. that's that's great. Tita Lors: I know, right? Like Yeah, come here. That perks of being adorable. Robin Axline: Yeah. I mean, I think that's why like the hiring process and the auditions for all those things are so competitive. Because they really do want people that care and do that kind of thing, I think. Tita Lors: Mm. Yeah, yeah. sorry. I'm obsessed with Disney. But like, did you know that the cast members have to Robin Axline: No, it's birthday. Tita Lors: shave like their bodies? Apparently. I was told this. But like, so if you're a character One, even if like let's say I wanted to be Pocahontas and I hadn't already dyed my hair the color my I have Raven black hair, it's just as long as Pocahontas' hair and all that stuff. But allegedly, I don't know if this is still true, but back when I knew somebody, they would be like, even then you'd still have to wear the wig. Yeah. For like consistency. Exactly. Yeah. And I think they have to like shave everything. For what reason? I don't know. It's like that doesn't make any sense to me. I feel like that's BS. But if you've ever been a cast members, write in, call in, let us know. Is that still a thing curious minds want to know? Yeah, exactly. Robin Axline: Give us the four one one. Yeah. I now I'm really curious. I wonder if it has to do with kind of like looking animated or like Tita Lors: Maybe yeah. Robin Axline: some I don't know. 'Cause in cartoons you don't see a bunch of body hair, for example. Arm hair. Tita Lors: hair, yeah. Yeah, for real. So so yeah, that, there's that. And then I guess if you asked earlier with my favorite Disney movie, I don't know if they have like a favorite favorite, but the newer movies that have been coming out are exciting to me because it's not just about like a princess being saved or, you know, a prince coming in and and fixing things or your identity being in like being a hero. I think a lot of the stories now, as I keep saying, it's just just a whole bunch of millennials that grew up traumatized by Disney and they're trying to heal themselves at Disney with the stories that they're animating. And so I really love that. And I I predict, I'm hoping, there's a movie that's coming out when this episode comes out in September. And it's called Lost Islands and it is specifically about the Philippines. It's got like Filipino folklore, it's got Filipino like Things that like imagery and things that you specifically identify with Filipino culture or you would know to be Filipino, it's in there like the Filipino sun is represented, all of the the the baddies, the monsters, they're Filipino folklore characters, like yeah, like even the story of immigration and why like people it's it's there and I'm so excited and I predict that I'm just gonna love it so much. Robin Axline: Yeah, I hope it lives up to your expectations. That being said. Tita Lors: I I know it's just I mean, even if it ends up being a flop, I don't care. Just the Robin Axline: Yeah, I feel that. I feel that. Tita Lors: representation is amazing. Robin Axline: I get so passionate about movies like that where I'm like, even if it sucks, I'm still gonna like it, I bet you, right? Tita Lors: I know all the Filipinos are gonna come out and represent Robin Axline: Yeah, I bet you. That's really cool to have like that level of representation that's not Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: like gonna like I've thought of a thing like that and I can't even yeah. I don't think that's existed per se. But that's very cool. Nice. I'll look out for that one. And yeah, all right, cool. So your new favorite might be coming up. We'll see. Tita Lors: Mm. Robin Axline: Yeah. So I jumping to I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but it's just like I I feel like the audience probably wants to get to n to know you a little bit better. And then in me asking these questions there's things I didn't quite know about you. So it's kind of like Tita Lors: Like we're both passionate about Aaliyah. Robin Axline: Yeah, absolutely. so I'm gonna ask you like a few different types of like almost like a rapid fire stitch. the first few questions are gonna be like two different types. So one is gonna be petty and unbothered. So like I'm gonna say something and then you're gonna say petty or unbothered. Tita Lors: Okay. Robin Axline: So the first one is somebody says, or you're like, my you know, my birthday's coming up this weekend. And they go, We have to celebrate. And then they just like never follow up. Tita Lors: Like do I feel petty about it or are they petty? Robin Axline: ooh, yeah, I think like no, I guess it's more like do you think that that's petty or you're just kinda like whatever about it. Yeah. Tita Lors: I mean, I guess it's whatever. I guess I'm bothered. 'Cause right, like I probably wouldn't have expected that person to show up anyways. I We have to celebrate. Like, okay, well, give me a time and a date, I guess. Robin Axline: We have to celebrate. Okay, and then the restaurant you're at starts singing happy birthday, petty or unbothered. Are you kind of like, my god, this sucks? Or are you just kind of like, god, whatever? Tita Lors: Bothered. Excited? Robin Axline: Okay. All right. somebody posts a really bad, terrible picture of you on like IG or Facebook or something. And then they tag you like, Happy birthday, girly Tita Lors: But I wanna be unbothered. I think I s I usually start out petty and then I and then I'm like, ugh, whatever, it's fine. Robin Axline: Okay, and the last one in this section is someone blows out your birthday candles. Tita Lors: No. He will slap you. Up your mouth so fast. Robin Axline: Hell yeah. Tita Lors: No, daddy. Some kid did that to another kid at a birthday party at a sat and I like covered their mouth. It's like, Robin Axline: Night. Tita Lors: no. This is not the y wrong one. Robin Axline: my gosh. Tita Lors: Yeah. And I think like one of my cousins did that to me for one of my birthdays when I was younger, and I scooped a cake into their face, like a piece of the cake into their face. Robin Axline: Damn. So definitely petty on that one. Tita Lors: Yep. For sure. Robin Axline: My gosh. Okay, let's see. How about? Alright, I'm gonna do I'm gonna skip to like maybe some little deeper questions. And then we'll do end with more like a rapid fire round. what is something that your if let's see, if your 30-year-old self could see you today, what do you think she'd be the most proud of? Tita Lors: think that's only five years ago. That's like ten years ago. let's see. I Robin Axline: Ugh, whatever. It's five years since Tita Lors: guess She would be stoked that we have kids 'cause that was something that I had been wanting already at 30. 25, honestly, but that would have been wild. I couldn't even imagine. so I think really stoked about motherhood for me is what my 30 year old self would be and that like that you can have it all To some degree, right? Like you can you can be a mother, you can be in a healthy relationship, you talk about shit and whatever, blah blah blah. and you can you can work, you can be a good mom, you could be a decent partner, hopefully, and a good friend. You can do all of it. It's exhausting, it's tiresome. this isn't from the outside, right, not experiencing everything that's like all the stress of it, it would be like, that's really cool. Robin Axline: yeah, I've been thinking a lot about that kind of stuff as of recently, even like as I had a birthday, just kinda thinking those types of things. Tita Lors: Yeah. Well, 'cause your actual real birthday just happened. Robin Axline: I know. So wild. That's me talking about that wildly frosted cake. Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: I'm gonna t I gotta take a picture. Or no, I I'll send you a picture offline. Or maybe we'll put it in the episode notes. You're gonna be like, holy cow. Yeah. Tita Lors: Okay. Put it yeah. Post it. Robin Axline: Anyways. okay. what's sorry, what's one compliment somebody gave you that you've never forgotten? If there is one. Let me think of a follow-up then. What is let's see, what is a compliment that this might be a little you can we can always cut this out. Something that you struggle to believe about yourself that was a compliment. Tita Lors: Mm. that I'm pretty? Even saying that it's like Robin Axline: You are though, that's wild. Yeah. It is. Mm-hmm. Tita Lors: I can't say that. Like there's there's a part of me that's like, Yeah, I am and then but the bigger part of me is like, that's such a cringy thing to say. Like how true is that? What if you're not? Like you're out here just claiming it and everyone's like, pass Robin Axline: Right. Yeah, those kinds of things are hard to receive, I feel like. Tita Lors: Yeah. Yeah. Well also like again, just being Filipino and being more brown than not, like, there's just a lot of colorism. And especially when I was younger, I was very dark, dark brown because I was out in the sun a lot and I had like I played with the boys and like climbed the trees and rollerbladed, skidded my knees and all of that stuff. And it like you just get made fun of a lot and I had eczema so and I had sunspots and I had like dry skin and and then I had braces as I got older and then braces Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: and glasses and eczema. Like it is just not good. Yeah. So like a lot of that ugly duckling syndrome I call it where it's like just really hard to own it sometimes and to believe it sometimes. So like that's a compliment where I'm like, Yes. Robin Axline: Thanks. Yeah, I can answer. that's funny. All right, no lightning rounds. Favorite smell? Tita Lors: And it just makes me so happy. And if it was like a cologne or a perfume, I'd I definitely tend to be more like bark spice, like deep f smells, like the muskier smells over like the flowery sweet kind of things. Like those give me a headache. It's a lot. But those like deeper Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Those kinds of smells. I like more of that than anything. But usually like any smell that reminds me of yummy food or dessert. Mmm. Yeah, that. Or the like yeah. Or like a good book. Robin Axline: Yes. Yes. Another thing we see eye to eye on. Tita Lors: Just thought of that. Yeah. Robin Axline: Sometimes I'll get a good new book and then I'll be like Tita Lors: Do you smell your food? I didn't do it earlier because I thought I that you might think that I was weird. But sometimes when I'm eating, I'll like smell Robin Axline: No, I do. Yeah. Tita Lors: it and then eat it. Okay. Robin Axline: I do it too. Not like every time, but a lot of the time I do. It's part of the thing. Same with some beverages too. Tita Lors: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. yeah. There are some things we're all smelling. Like, why did I smell that? What was I thinking? No, no, that was a bad idea. Robin Axline: Yeah. Yeah, I'm like, Yeah, for sure. That's funny. I used this when I was younger I used to smell C D jackets. Tita Lors: No, my gosh, but they do have like a specific smell. Yes. It's like kind of plasticky and like waxy papery type Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: of. Yes. Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: Totally. man. okay, morning or evening? Tita Lors: Evening. Robin Axline: one T V show forever. Tita Lors: No, I hate the idea of that. What's a T V show that has like a lot of episodes? Robin Axline: Yeah, I don't like that idea. What do you like what's one that like you might just watch that you've seen before for fun? Tita Lors: let's see. I've watched all of Charmed at least twice, if not more. Like I u it used to play on TNT and so I if I like needed to clean or work or study or like if I needed background music or background noise, it Robin Axline: Yeah. Right. Tita Lors: was always the original charmed hence. Robin Axline: Good old what is it, Piper, Prue, and Phoebe or something? Tita Lors: Phoebe, yes. Yes. Okay. Are you a piper, Prue, or Phoebe? Or what's her f the there's another one in the end. Robin Axline: my god. The one that replaced Shannon Dorty, Rose McGowan, but I can't think of her Tita Lors: my god, what is her name? It's another Yeah, her. Yes. Robin Axline: character name. Tita Lors: Piper, Prue, Phoebe. Robin Axline: Shoot, whatever. Tita Lors: Whatever. Which one? Robin Axline: It's fine. I but it hmm. I did like I don't really remember the characters enough. I guess I as I can kind of remember, maybe a piper. I don't know. Yeah. Paige! Yes. I did like Tita Lors: I can actually see that. Paige. Yes. Okay. Robin Axline: Paige. Well, as a Rose McGowan fan, I was kind of bummed that it changed, but then I was also stoked that it was her, so Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. I felt like she added a lot. I I was bummed about it too and I was worried that it was gonna go down the drain. But it was so she her character was great and it was r I she has a lot of things to say now about it. I don't think that she enjoyed her time on Charmed. But I enjoyed her on Charmed and I like appreciate what she brought to it. Robin Axline: Yeah, same, same. I thought Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: yeah, I d it didn't like you were saying, I was worried and then it didn't bother me, so Tita Lors: Yeah, yeah. I would say for sure a Phoebe for me. Robin Axline: Mm, okay. I think as I recall I can see that as well. Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: I was just trying to think I don't I guess it wasn't. I was gonna say, was it like an errand spelling project or no, maybe not. But I think I'm mixing it up Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: because of Shannon Dherty on 90210. I thought maybe that's how how in the world she got recast on anything after that. But I digress and RAP as well. So yeah. But yeah, that was a rapid fire question. Tita Lors: that we like quickly did not create our rapid fire for. Robin Axline: Went hard on. It's all good. let me think one more of the rapid fire that I had is what were shoot one word that you hope people use to describe you. Hope. Tita Lors: Immediately I thought kind. yeah, I think that I hope everyone leaves me thinking, she was really kind and then outside of that what my bigger hope is that people feel seen. like they were able to be authentically themselves and not feel judged or like I was gonna think something about them. that's always what I hope because I like I wouldn't wanna feel that way around new people or people that I just met, so I hope that people don't feel that way around me. but yeah, so I guess kind. Yeah. Robin Axline: Yeah. So kind. Yeah. I could that's a good one for you. It really sums up especially all your like caveats beyond that. makes that makes a lot of sense for you personally. but yeah, now on the sentimental tip, I just wanted to say like before we wrap up one of the things I've always appreciated about you is that you are genuinely curious about people and you do make peop people feel hurt. So I just want you to know that. you make me laugh. You are thoughtful about your questions and I don't know. I like talking about food with you. I like hearing about your girls and it's just obvious like how much you love and adore them and your stories always make me smile. So I mean it. And I I I'm just really grateful that I get to do this podcast with you and I I I just hope that this next year brings you a lot of good good things. New adventures and great memories with your family and just the I don't know. I just wanted to let Tita Lors: Hey no, stop! Keep going! Robin Axline: you know. I guess just like all the little moments that remind you How like your life is pretty wonderful. So I just thank you for being who you are. And so just yeah, happy birthday, Lora. Yeah, so yeah, I just had a lot of reservations with me writing this for you because I wanted it to be so special and so make you feel loved. Yeah. Tita Lors: It's so much fun. I think like if anything, one of the big things that I'm happy that I did, even though I was res like I did I wasn't a hundred percent on wanting to do it is the trip where we met you and Ian, of course, like that like we had talked about a lot of how I was I wasn't sure that I wanted to go just because of like, you know, self like body image issues and like all the things I was really yeah, right. And I think I'm so glad that we did because we got to meet you and Ian and like have this friendship and relationship that we all have together. And it's been really, really special to just really get to know you and to do this podcast and to like, you know Be your friend and to like just be a part of each other's lives and to really get to know you and I have had such a blast. Even if this doesn't go anywhere, even if only five people ever listened to this, this has been so amazing and I'm so like, thank you for for taking the time to like think about me. I think one of my biggest Robin Axline: That's a ne that's easy. Tita Lors: Yeah, but like, you know, people talk about love languages all the time and I have my own theories about it, but I think that one of mine is like quality time in the sense of like not even just actually the time that we get to spend with each other every week, but But also like the time that people spend on their own thinking about you and cherishing you and you know, like and it could be something like, you're in my prayers if people pray or like, I saw this thing and it made me think about you or, you know, I I'm eating this because you suggested that I eat it or, you know, like those moments are I whenever they get back to me I'm like, Hmm, yay I just So, 'cause it's that piece of connection that I love to feel with people and I like I'm thank you for all the time that you spent on this. And it was a lot of fun to answer these questions. Robin Axline: Pleasure. Yay. So glad. I was like, I don't wanna be like twenty questions person, but it on the other hand it seemed like it suited you, so Yeah, grateful grateful for you and grateful for yeah, our friendship as well. And in that case, I think our feeling is mutual. We're grateful for everybody that is sticking with us and we're just having a blast and hope you are too. And thanks everyone for listening to this episode and for celebrating the day of Laura's birth with us. It's very Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: special. Tita Lors: Everybody get yourself a macaron. Macaron? Robin Axline: I say macaron. For macaroon. yes. Yes, that's what Tita Lors: Is it macaron? Not not the coconut one. Robin Axline: I call a macaroon. Tita Lors: Okay, macaron. Go get yourself a macaron. I obviously am saying it right, but I don't like coconuts. Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: So don't get in a macaroon. Get a macaron. Yeah. It's delicious. Robin Axline: Almond flower baby. Yeah. Totally. yeah, so I guess we can wrap it up there and then we can do our petty battle in another set. Yes. So again, thanks for listening. Like, subscribe, rate, tell anyone that you think would get some benefit out of this show. And we'll see you next week on Petty and Unbothered. So if there's nothing else to say Stay petty. Booper, happy birthday, Lora. Psh. Bye. I know. bye.
