Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Now seventor presents the Marks Emosha.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Well, I'm back, finally back. It's a long vacation. It
- 0:18Speaker 2: was like two and a half weeks, and I actually
- 0:21Speaker 2: love not working. I mean, I have a lot of
- 0:23Speaker 2: fun and plenty to do, but but that's enough vacation.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I can't take it anymore. It's good to be back.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I missed you. I hope you missed me, and Curtis
- 0:32Speaker 2: did a great job filling in. Everybody loved him. I
- 0:35Speaker 2: have not everybody. I would say it was ninety nine
- 0:37Speaker 2: percent favorable. All the comments and mail and everything we got.
- 0:41Speaker 2: People love Curtis and hopefully he'll be back here soon.
- 0:46Speaker 2: He did attack a few people there who are all
- 0:49Speaker 2: friends of mine, so but listen, he's got a right
- 0:53Speaker 2: to be a little upset with some people. But did
- 0:59Speaker 2: you notice I was listening here and there is he
- 1:02Speaker 2: For two weeks. I don't think he had one guest on, right.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I think his wife was on once, but that doesn't count.
- 1:09Speaker 2: For two weeks, not a single guest. That's impressive. That's
- 1:12Speaker 2: a sign of a great host. You can always tell
- 1:14Speaker 2: how good a host is by how many guests they
- 1:15Speaker 2: have on. If they open the show by telling you
- 1:18Speaker 2: twenty seven guests that are coming on. You know, it's
- 1:20Speaker 2: not that great a host. They can't fill the time
- 1:22Speaker 2: on their own, their guest dependent. As soon as the
- 1:25Speaker 2: guest is done, our next guest is they got to
- 1:28Speaker 2: get somebody else. The guests have to do all the talking.
- 1:31Speaker 2: So you really got to be good at this to
- 1:34Speaker 2: do two hours, five days a week and not have
- 1:37Speaker 2: a guest on. So yeah, we have guests on, but
- 1:40Speaker 2: once an hour for a few minutes, just to break
- 1:42Speaker 2: it up a little. But we're not you know, it's
- 1:44Speaker 2: the whole first forty minutes of the hour, there's no guests.
- 1:46Speaker 2: We don't you don't want to be guest dependent. By
- 1:48Speaker 2: the way, coming up in our second hour, our guest
- 1:53Speaker 2: will be Rob Reiner. I found, you know, he was
- 1:56Speaker 2: a regular in this show for many years, so I
- 1:59Speaker 2: found an interview or two of them, but we'll play
- 2:02Speaker 2: that out in the second hour. It's interesting to listen
- 2:04Speaker 2: to him because I know he was crazy, insane with
- 2:07Speaker 2: his politics, angry, crazy over the top nuts with the politics.
- 2:12Speaker 2: But it's interesting. He was a great guy in real life.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Here and I were friends. We got along really well,
- 2:16Speaker 2: and Dad never talked about politics, So let me talk
- 2:18Speaker 2: about we talk about Joey Bishop or old show business
- 2:21Speaker 2: or old comedians, but I just you can hear the
- 2:24Speaker 2: real hymn. We'll get to that in the second hour.
- 2:27Speaker 2: And it's a good lesson to learn because you probably
- 2:30Speaker 2: had the situation over the holidays with your family at
- 2:33Speaker 2: Christmas parties or whatever. Your uncle, your cousin. They're great people,
- 2:40Speaker 2: but when they talk about politics, they're like childish, insane,
- 2:44Speaker 2: crazy nonsense, childish, ridiculous. You know, this Maduro stuff is
- 2:49Speaker 2: a great example. For the last ten years, Democrats, all
- 2:55Speaker 2: of them, Chuck Schumer, Biden, that idiot Chris Murphy from
- 3:01Speaker 2: all of them, have been demanding that somebody do something
- 3:04Speaker 2: about Maduro, that they get rid of Maduro. You know,
- 3:07Speaker 2: in Trump's first term, all the Democrats attacked him for
- 3:11Speaker 2: not doing anything about Maduro. And it's all over Twitter.
- 3:15Speaker 2: You can see the videos, you can see the statements
- 3:17Speaker 2: from them. If you don't believe this, they all went
- 3:19Speaker 2: on camera on Twitter saying Trump is obviously in bed
- 3:25Speaker 2: with Putin because otherwise he'd be getting rid of Maduro,
- 3:28Speaker 2: who's Putin's puppet. They demanded that he get rid of Maduro.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Schumer Hakeem Jeffries. All of these people this video all
- 3:36Speaker 2: over Twitter. You can watch with them screaming and yelling,
- 3:39Speaker 2: gotta get rid of Maduro. So Trump gets rid of
- 3:42Speaker 2: Maduro like that. They turn on a dime. It's unbelievable.
- 3:48Speaker 2: They're just going nuts defending Maduro. What happened at No
- 3:53Speaker 2: Kings Remember No Kings seventy seven days ago there was
- 3:56Speaker 2: no Kings. Well this one we like, you shouldn't gotten
- 3:59Speaker 2: rid of this, and so it's absolutely insane behavior. But
- 4:05Speaker 2: it's really what it is, it's just being childish. They're
- 4:07Speaker 2: just like little children, screaming and yelling. Hey, you remember,
- 4:10Speaker 2: for the whole year that've been telling you over and
- 4:14Speaker 2: over and over and over and over again that Pete
- 4:17Speaker 2: Hexath is not qualified to be the Secretary of Defense.
- 4:20Speaker 2: All of them, all the Democrats in politics, all the
- 4:25Speaker 2: Democrats on television, have been telling you he's the least
- 4:28Speaker 2: qualified secretary of Defense. Hexath is not qualified, He's the
- 4:31Speaker 2: most unqualified. Well, for the last year, he has flawlessly
- 4:36Speaker 2: executed the most complex military operations anybody ever has dozens
- 4:41Speaker 2: of them, from the bombing the Iran nuclear reactors to
- 4:45Speaker 2: the ticking out the drug boats, to the seizing the
- 4:48Speaker 2: oil tankers, to capturing a world leader in his bed
- 4:52Speaker 2: in the middle of the night and getting him out
- 4:53Speaker 2: of the country and doing the whole operation in three hours.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Not qualified. This guy has been unbelievable at the military
- 5:01Speaker 2: operations he's run. Nobody's ever run these kind of operations.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Look at the last guy, Lloyd Austin, Biden's Secretary of Defense.
- 5:08Speaker 2: One operation just withdraw everybody from Afghanistan. Turned it into
- 5:13Speaker 2: a chaotic nightmare. Hey bungle it up so badly. Hegsath
- 5:17Speaker 2: has been unbelievable. Now, of course the media stays quiet
- 5:21Speaker 2: about that. They don't mention a word about it. I
- 5:24Speaker 2: don't say anything about it at all. Now we got
- 5:28Speaker 2: the same thing with the Minnesota fraud, the Somali fraud
- 5:31Speaker 2: in Minnesota. It looks like it that number might hit
- 5:34Speaker 2: eighteen billion. That's been missing. Tim Waltz just moments ago
- 5:38Speaker 2: announced he will not seek reelection. So if he had
- 5:41Speaker 2: any doubts about that Minnesota fraud being real, being more
- 5:47Speaker 2: extensive than we thought, if he had any doubts about
- 5:50Speaker 2: how big and how real that whole thing is, Tim
- 5:52Speaker 2: Waltz just announced he will step down from his campaign.
- 5:56Speaker 2: There will be no campaign. He will not seek reelection. Now,
- 6:01Speaker 2: this is a guy who was definitely going to run
- 6:04Speaker 2: for a reelection. He was on his way or in
- 6:06Speaker 2: his crazy brain to twenty twenty eight being candidate for president.
- 6:12Speaker 2: But his political career is now over. It's over. He
- 6:15Speaker 2: cannot seek reelection. He's admitted that he's dropping out of
- 6:19Speaker 2: the race. He is giving up politics. Hey, by the way,
- 6:22Speaker 2: keep an eye on Gavin Newsom. This affects him because
- 6:27Speaker 2: everybody says that as bad as this fraud is in Minnesota,
- 6:31Speaker 2: it's far worse and much much, much bigger in California.
- 6:36Speaker 2: So this will start to come out next and that
- 6:39Speaker 2: will be the end of Gavin Newsom's twenty twenty eight bid.
- 6:43Speaker 2: He's going to have a problem President Trump.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Can you imagine there's still eight billion Dallas.
- 6:48Speaker 4: That's just what we're learning about Peters in California's horse,
- 6:53Speaker 4: Illinois's horse, and Santaday new worse.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah, So wait till it get to California. That'll end Newsome.
- 6:59Speaker 2: And then if they find it in Illinois, well that's
- 7:02Speaker 2: the end of Pritzker. Now when he says New York
- 7:07Speaker 2: is well, that's because a mom Donnie and all of
- 7:10Speaker 2: this stuff. You and ever you get a socialist or
- 7:13Speaker 2: a left wing kook like this, a Deblasio type, money
- 7:16Speaker 2: goes missing. It happens every time. While they yell and
- 7:20Speaker 2: scream about the billionaires, meantime, billions go sideways and no
- 7:25Speaker 2: one quite knows where it goes. You know, And you
- 7:27Speaker 2: got the most corrupt media ever in the Deblasio administration.
- 7:31Speaker 2: A billion dollars went missing in this fake program he
- 7:35Speaker 2: and his wife set up. It was called Thrive NYC.
- 7:38Speaker 2: And it was supposed to take care of the homeless
- 7:41Speaker 2: and it actually had this is not a joke. It
- 7:43Speaker 2: had programs like yoga for the homeless, that kind of stuff. Well,
- 7:47Speaker 2: a billion dollars went into it, and nobody knows where
- 7:49Speaker 2: it went, and it's gone, it's missing. And of course,
- 7:52Speaker 2: the totally corrupt media Channel two, Channel four, Channel five,
- 7:56Speaker 2: Channel seven, New York Times, all that corrupt media never
- 8:00Speaker 2: ever looked into it. Oh, they mentioned it for a second,
- 8:03Speaker 2: but they never looked into it. There should be reporters
- 8:06Speaker 2: all over the place tracking down that money, hunting for
- 8:09Speaker 2: that money. So whenever one of these left wing kooks
- 8:13Speaker 2: gets in, one of these socialists, money goes missing. And
- 8:16Speaker 2: the other thing that happens is who suffers under them,
- 8:19Speaker 2: the homeless, the lower economic classes. They're the ones that
- 8:24Speaker 2: get hit the hardest by this nonsense. You know, Venezuela
- 8:27Speaker 2: is a great example. It was one of the most
- 8:29Speaker 2: booming economies in the world. It was thriving. It has
- 8:33Speaker 2: more oil than anybody on earth, just the oil revenue.
- 8:36Speaker 2: It was booming. Their economy was on fire. Everybody was
- 8:39Speaker 2: doing great in Venezuela until they went socialist. When they
- 8:44Speaker 2: went socialist, when Chavez came in with his underling Maduro,
- 8:47Speaker 2: and then Maduro took over, they went socialist. Suddenly nobody
- 8:51Speaker 2: has any money. Everybody's in poverty. That's what happens with socialists.
- 8:55Speaker 2: We look at them Poland it was just the opposite.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Under socialism, no money broke, the world's worst place to live.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Then they convert to capitalism, and now they're one of
- 9:05Speaker 2: the biggest economies in the world, huge economy, his biggest Japan.
- 9:08Speaker 2: It's booming and everybody is living better, doing better. That's
- 9:13Speaker 2: what happens. So now the good news in New York
- 9:15Speaker 2: is Mom Donnie as nuts as he is, as terribly
- 9:18Speaker 2: as we don't know what he'll be able to get done.
- 9:20Speaker 2: If anything, A lot of people think it'll just be
- 9:24Speaker 2: the third term of Deblasio, third Deblasio term. We got
- 9:29Speaker 2: through that. It wasn't good, but we got through it
- 9:30Speaker 2: to we'll get through this. He had his inauguration, as
- 9:37Speaker 2: it called it, a block party. It was a great
- 9:39Speaker 2: block party. But if you want to just take a
- 9:42Speaker 2: look at what exactly are his management skills, look at
- 9:46Speaker 2: the block party. It was considered the worst party ever thrown,
- 9:50Speaker 2: just as far as managing it, the worst setup ever.
- 9:55Speaker 2: The block party was held in like minus five degree weather.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I had fifty thousand people to stand there and there
- 10:03Speaker 2: were no food trucks, no food of any kind, no bathrooms,
- 10:06Speaker 2: no anything, and they were asked to wait. It started late.
- 10:10Speaker 2: It started like three hours late, so he had to
- 10:13Speaker 2: stand there. It was just horrendous. You know, you could
- 10:17Speaker 2: go to Times Square in New Year's even at least
- 10:18Speaker 2: there's a food truck every ten feet, there's a bathroom.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Well not a lot for that, but this was a nightmare,
- 10:25Speaker 2: an absolute nightmare. That's the way mom Dannie runs things.
- 10:29Speaker 2: And of course the totally corrupt media gives him a
- 10:32Speaker 2: pass at all times. His anti Israel nonsense. He killed
- 10:36Speaker 2: some executive orders to protect Israel, protect people from being attacked,
- 10:43Speaker 2: antisemitic attacks. He got rid of those. Now he claims
- 10:46Speaker 2: they'll replace him with somebody else, But who would trust
- 10:48Speaker 2: him on that? And he talks about the protecting Palestinians.
- 10:52Speaker 2: There's never been an attack on a Palestinian anywhere in
- 10:55Speaker 2: New York. The Palestinians have not been attacked. It doesn't exist.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Anti Semitic attacks by the thousands, vicious, violent ones all
- 11:03Speaker 2: over New York. That's where the protection is needed. He's
- 11:06Speaker 2: just crazy about this.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Protecting Jewish New Yorkers is going to be a focus
- 11:10Speaker 4: of my administration. And I also know that a number,
- 11:12Speaker 4: as you said, of leading Jewish organizations have immense concerns
- 11:16Speaker 4: around this definition. And so what we will do is
- 11:18Speaker 4: actually deliver on our commitment to protect Jewish New Yorkers
- 11:21Speaker 4: in a manner that is able to actually fulfill that.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Yeah, you go, nobody's fatality said. But he speaks well.
- 11:28Speaker 2: And you know, if you talk really fast, if you
- 11:30Speaker 2: talk very fast, everybody thinks you must be very smart. Otherwise,
- 11:32Speaker 2: how could you talk that fast? But meantime, he's not
- 11:34Speaker 2: saying anything and then this is the line that frightened
- 11:38Speaker 2: everybody when they say democratic socialist? Is he really a communist?
- 11:42Speaker 2: Is he? I mean? Does he want us to live
- 11:46Speaker 2: in like a communist a collective? Think? Well, listen to this.
- 11:49Speaker 4: We will draw this city closer together. We will replace
- 11:53Speaker 4: the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.
- 11:58Speaker 4: If our campaign demonstrated that the people of New York
- 12:02Speaker 4: yearn for solidarity, then let this government foster it.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Well, if it wasn't real, it'd actually be pretty funny.
- 12:11Speaker 4: We will draw this city closer together. We will replace
- 12:15Speaker 4: the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Now, what the hell is he talking about? The rugged
- 12:22Speaker 2: individual individualism, the frigidity rugged individualism. I guess he's talking
- 12:30Speaker 2: about Warren Buffett or Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos or frigidity.
- 12:37Speaker 2: I know they don't look cold. That last time I
- 12:39Speaker 2: saw Bezos, he's on a yacht in St. Barts. He
- 12:41Speaker 2: look pretty warm. The frigidity, But the warmth of collectivism, Well,
- 12:46Speaker 2: if you go look at people in the Soviet Union
- 12:48Speaker 2: when it was all socialists, they didn't look like they
- 12:51Speaker 2: were so warm. They looked they were freezing to death
- 12:53Speaker 2: and they were waiting in line twenty seven hours for
- 12:55Speaker 2: toilet papers. So it didn't look warm to me. But anyway,
- 12:59Speaker 2: the now, it's interesting as far as capturing Maduro. If
- 13:03Speaker 2: you're not sure if it was a mistake not a mistake.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Look at who opposed it. It's the biggest idiots on
- 13:09Speaker 2: the world. Mam Donnie opposed it. Mam Donnie was totally
- 13:12Speaker 2: against it. Hokeel was against it. Schumer was against it,
- 13:16Speaker 2: Hakeem Jeffreys, Kamala Harris, Chris Murphy. Well, if they're against it,
- 13:20Speaker 2: then it must be the right thing to do. And
- 13:22Speaker 2: Mom Donnie calls President Trump to just voice his objection
- 13:28Speaker 2: to it. You gotta give the guy credit. You got
- 13:33Speaker 2: to give Mam Donnie credit for just out of controlled,
- 13:36Speaker 2: delusional ego thinking the President of the United States, Donald Trump,
- 13:40Speaker 2: wants his input on this tough foreign policy matter. As
- 13:45Speaker 2: if the President in the middle of those cabinet meetings,
- 13:48Speaker 2: listening to Hexith and Rubio and all those voices, said
- 13:52Speaker 2: to himself, I gotta know what Mam Doney thinks. So
- 13:55Speaker 2: Mam Donnie called him, and Trump took the call. Trump's
- 13:59Speaker 2: very gracious in situation something like that. And he took
- 14:01Speaker 2: the call and he, you know, pretended listening very intently,
- 14:05Speaker 2: but you know, I guarantee he was rolling his eyes
- 14:08Speaker 2: with everybody in the room, holding the phone away from
- 14:10Speaker 2: his head while the guy yapped away. But Mambonnie was
- 14:13Speaker 2: so proud that he called Trump.
- 14:15Speaker 4: I called the President and spoke with him directly to
- 14:19Speaker 4: register my opposition to this act and to make clear
- 14:22Speaker 4: that it was an opposition based on being opposed to
- 14:27Speaker 4: a pursuit of regime change, to the violation of federal
- 14:31Speaker 4: international law, and a desire to see that be consistent
- 14:36Speaker 4: each and every day.
- 14:37Speaker 5: And what was his response to you?
- 14:39Speaker 6: Conversation?
- 14:41Speaker 4: And I registered my opposition, I made it clear, and.
- 14:45Speaker 2: We left it at that. There you go, waste of
- 14:50Speaker 2: a phone call. Anyway, Well, I'm back. We got a
- 14:53Speaker 2: lot to get to today. I did call Curtis by
- 14:57Speaker 2: the way over the weekend and thank him for filling in.
- 14:59Speaker 2: He said he had a lo lot of fun. He
- 15:01Speaker 2: said he was really love being here. He thanked all
- 15:04Speaker 2: you guys in the control room there. He said it
- 15:06Speaker 2: was great people to work with. I got a ton
- 15:12Speaker 2: of email about him and comments all over the place,
- 15:15Speaker 2: But it was I'd say ninety nine percent favorable. People
- 15:19Speaker 2: loved him so and I'm sure he'll be back here
- 15:21Speaker 2: doing all kinds of stuff here. And let me just
- 15:24Speaker 2: clear up one thing. He kept going after my friend
- 15:26Speaker 2: Greg Kelly. Greg Kelly and I are very very close friends.
- 15:29Speaker 2: And he said, Greg listens to this show every day,
- 15:33Speaker 2: you know, looking for things to take, ideas to take,
- 15:36Speaker 2: or points to take. Yeah, that's probably true, but Curtis
- 15:39Speaker 2: wasn't aware of which I called. I told him I
- 15:42Speaker 2: listened to Greg Kelly every day and I take just
- 15:44Speaker 2: as much stuff from his show. And he and I
- 15:46Speaker 2: are very good friends with In fact, we talk on
- 15:48Speaker 2: the phone at night. And said, you know, he's got
- 15:50Speaker 2: a lot of info of sources, so sometimes he'll give
- 15:54Speaker 2: me stuff he got. I'll give stuff I got, and
- 15:56Speaker 2: then the next day you'll hear it on both shows.
- 15:58Speaker 2: But it's not anybody stealing from any buddy. We actually
- 16:01Speaker 2: collaborate on. I do that with a lot of hosts,
- 16:03Speaker 2: and a lot of people listen to this show every
- 16:06Speaker 2: day who host their own show that Sean Hannity told
- 16:08Speaker 2: me he listens every day. I know Buck is one
- 16:11Speaker 2: of our listeners. I was out at the conference the
- 16:12Speaker 2: other day and Chris Ruddy, was a chairman of Newsmax,
- 16:15Speaker 2: was a speaker. They said, what do you listen to
- 16:17Speaker 2: when you get up in the morning. He said, well,
- 16:18Speaker 2: first I listened to Mark Simone. I learn a lot
- 16:20Speaker 2: about what's good to a lot of people, a lot
- 16:23Speaker 2: of hosts, a lot of media people. And that's true
- 16:25Speaker 2: of a million other shows. Hey, we'll take some calls next.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Let me know what you think. Eight hundred three to
- 16:31Speaker 2: two one zero seven ten is the number. Eight hundred
- 16:35Speaker 2: three two one zero seven ten. Lots to get to
- 16:39Speaker 2: today right here on seven ten wor.
- 16:43Speaker 1: If you're listening to Mark on the iHeartRadio app, save
- 16:46Speaker 1: time and tap the preset button. Now now back to
- 16:50Speaker 1: the Mark Simone show on woor Oh.
- 16:54Speaker 2: It's good to be back. Actually, I'm tired already.
- 16:59Speaker 7: You know.
- 17:00Speaker 2: You get out of shape. I used to do two
- 17:01Speaker 2: hours every day. There's like nothing now twenty minutes like
- 17:05Speaker 2: so you know it. Take it. You can run six
- 17:07Speaker 2: miles on the treadmill, then you don't go to the
- 17:08Speaker 2: gym for a few months. You come back, you can
- 17:10Speaker 2: barely do half a mile. Let's go to Mike in Florida.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Mike how you doing.
- 17:16Speaker 8: Hey, good morning, Mark, welcome welcome home. Thanks hope you
- 17:20Speaker 8: had a great vacation.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I did.
- 17:24Speaker 7: So.
- 17:25Speaker 8: You know, I was reading online that Mondani doesn't want
- 17:31Speaker 8: Maduro arrested, but he's going to arrest be being net
- 17:34Speaker 8: in Yahoo. So here you go kind of a little
- 17:37Speaker 8: bit of a.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Very good point. Excellent point. There you go the the
- 17:44Speaker 2: hypocrisy Democrats are famous for. Let's go to Bob Montvale,
- 17:48Speaker 2: New Jersey. Bob, how you doing.
- 17:51Speaker 9: I'm doing great?
- 17:52Speaker 2: How are you work? I'm for taking the call and.
- 17:55Speaker 9: Just want to report here. It is New Year's New Jersey,
- 17:58Speaker 9: Bergen County on the Rockland line, and the crime has
- 18:01Speaker 9: shifted from New York City to Rockland County and Upper
- 18:05Speaker 9: Burden County. You go online and there's violent crime Spring Valley,
- 18:10Speaker 9: New York.
- 18:13Speaker 2: What is there? What is there to steal in Spring Valley,
- 18:15Speaker 2: New York?
- 18:16Speaker 10: Oh, Mark, the Jewish Folks Borough Park have really moved
- 18:23Speaker 10: into this area, and they actually do a good job of, like,
- 18:27Speaker 10: you know, policing themselves. It's it's really the crime is tremendous.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know, it's definitely going to be a problem.
- 18:38Speaker 2: That's one thing. The number one thing you have to
- 18:40Speaker 2: keep an eye on with Mom Donnie. Now he's left
- 18:42Speaker 2: Jessica and as police commissioners, she'll do a great job.
- 18:45Speaker 2: You got two other things going for you. As far
- 18:48Speaker 2: as the New York crime if it's a start to
- 18:50Speaker 2: get out of hand, there's a great US attorney in
- 18:53Speaker 2: the Southern District, j Clayton. He's a little busy right
- 18:56Speaker 2: now trying Maduro and Luigi Mangione and all thebo he
- 19:00Speaker 2: has said, and he can do it. If there's a
- 19:03Speaker 2: crime problem, he'll step in with federal officers and arrest
- 19:06Speaker 2: criminals on the street. In fact, that's actually better because
- 19:09Speaker 2: if the NYPD arrest them, they go to New York
- 19:12Speaker 2: City local courts where left wing judges all let them out.
- 19:16Speaker 2: If the US Attorney arrest them, they go to federal
- 19:19Speaker 2: court where the most likely really get locked up. Let's
- 19:22Speaker 2: go to Sam Greenwich, Connecticut. Sam, how you doing Yes?
- 19:26Speaker 6: I like to comment on the three phony elected at
- 19:28Speaker 6: picts we have here aon Connecticut, Murphy, Hymes and Bloomintal. Yeah,
- 19:36Speaker 6: there are all over the news today talking about the
- 19:39Speaker 6: legal action, the war going to war with Venezuela. I
- 19:44Speaker 6: guess they haven't heard of the Wars Powers hacks.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Well, yeah, you know, it's funny. Connecticut is a wonderful place.
- 19:50Speaker 2: I go there on the weekends. I love Connecticut. Connecticut
- 19:53Speaker 2: is a wonderful place. But you've elected the slimiest, dirtiest
- 19:58Speaker 2: senators Balloomenthal Murphy, sleazy, dirty, disgusting Murphy for ten years,
- 20:06Speaker 2: is tweeting away. You've got to get Maduro. We've got
- 20:08Speaker 2: to remove Mduro. Trump is obviously crazy not to take Outmduro.
- 20:12Speaker 2: So as he takes him out. This is the worst
- 20:14Speaker 2: thing that ever happened. They keep yelling about this War
- 20:16Speaker 2: Powers Act. This is all of forest. The War Powers
- 20:19Speaker 2: Act has no connection to this incident. Nobody went to war.
- 20:22Speaker 2: If you did a quick three hour military operation, it
- 20:25Speaker 2: doesn't have anything to do with the War Powers Act.
- 20:29Speaker 2: If you blew up a drug boat, the War Powers
- 20:31Speaker 2: Act is not involved in any way. Let's go to
- 20:35Speaker 2: Vincent and Brooklyn. Vincent, how you doing.
- 20:37Speaker 7: Good morning, Mark, Mark, great to hear your voice again.
- 20:40Speaker 7: You know. Donald Trump, while when he made his speech
- 20:43Speaker 7: Saturday morning, alluded to the fact that most of the
- 20:46Speaker 7: oil companies in Venezuela and the refineries, those were American
- 20:51Speaker 7: businesses that were stolen by Javes. While I have a
- 20:56Speaker 7: story when Javis was coming to power. I was in
- 21:01Speaker 7: my office late one night years ago and in the
- 21:04Speaker 7: middle of practically after twelve o'clock, I get a phone
- 21:07Speaker 7: call and I said hello, and the person on the
- 21:11Speaker 7: other end called me by my childhood Monica, and I
- 21:16Speaker 7: immediately knew this was a buddy of mine. I said,
- 21:21Speaker 7: I recognized the voice that I says. What can I do?
- 21:24Speaker 7: What's going on? He said, Vincent, He said, Javis's people,
- 21:30Speaker 7: the goons life over here like BLM and Black Lives Matter.
- 21:35Speaker 7: We're going through the neighborhoods. Robin marauding and my buddy
- 21:39Speaker 7: lived in a villa very very doing, very very well,
- 21:44Speaker 7: had him and said he's had domestic help. And he says,
- 21:47Speaker 7: then he didn't even mention my name. He just said,
- 21:50Speaker 7: I got a run out. I got to get here.
- 21:53Speaker 7: I'm running for my life. He grabbed as much jewelry
- 21:56Speaker 7: he could in the house, cash he got in his Mercedes,
- 22:00Speaker 7: and they knew that soon they were going to start
- 22:03Speaker 7: the PA.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Well that's pretty bad. But exactly what did this scarfaced
- 22:07Speaker 2: friend of yours do down there for a living?
- 22:09Speaker 7: It was he was a business man. But I'm sure
- 22:13Speaker 7: he was so with the money, the cause, and the jewelry.
- 22:17Speaker 7: He didn't go. He didn't fly out of Caracas. He
- 22:21Speaker 7: took his car and drove it to Columbia and used
- 22:26Speaker 7: whatever he had on him, his car, the money, and
- 22:30Speaker 7: the jewelry.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Well, it's a tragic his way out of the tragic,
- 22:33Speaker 2: tragic story. The poor Hyman Roth type guy. What he
- 22:36Speaker 2: went through to get out of there exactly before we go?
- 22:41Speaker 2: Uh hey, people tell me Curtis was on for two weeks,
- 22:44Speaker 2: taking a lot of calls. They said, you didn't call
- 22:46Speaker 2: for two weeks. Any reason? You're not a Curtis fan.
- 22:52Speaker 11: Uh.
- 22:53Speaker 7: I don't want to go there, Mark, No, okay, I
- 22:57Speaker 7: don't want to go there.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Mark. You what did you do? Good New Year's Eve?
- 23:01Speaker 7: Excuse me?
- 23:02Speaker 2: Do you have a good New Year's Eve?
- 23:03Speaker 12: Oh?
- 23:04Speaker 7: I had? I had a great I got a great holiday.
- 23:06Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 7: I had a great New year Year's Eve, great Christmas? No,
- 23:10Speaker 7: I uh look, I don't want to go there, man.
- 23:14Speaker 2: All right, subject changed. So aren't you glad all the
- 23:18Speaker 2: tourists are going? We got that, we have we have
- 23:21Speaker 2: New York.
- 23:22Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, everything everything is good, you know. Uh Hey,
- 23:26Speaker 7: we're back to life is normal. You're back on the air.
- 23:29Speaker 7: That's the most important.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Thing every Vincent. No, I know, but we got to
- 23:36Speaker 2: go do the news. Vincent, thanks for calling. Uh we
- 23:39Speaker 2: got to Uh yeah, it's we'll talk about this next hour.
- 23:42Speaker 2: But these tourists, we had more tourists than ever. It
- 23:45Speaker 2: was impossible to even move here on the sidewalk anyway. Anyway,
- 23:48Speaker 2: we'll get to that later when we come back. Howie
- 23:50Speaker 2: Carr will be with us. He was at mar A
- 23:52Speaker 2: Lago Uh during the last couple of weeks. He'll tell
- 23:55Speaker 2: us what went on down there and more. We'll get
- 23:57Speaker 2: to lots of stuff next on seven to ten WR He's.
- 24:01Speaker 1: More marximone on seventeen wor.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Well. Howie Carr one of the great talk show hosts
- 24:09Speaker 2: in America. You can hear him on iHeart. If you've

- 24:40Speaker 13: you order an American Winning T shirt today, you get
- 24:43Speaker 13: a free copy of Mass Corruption. So it's a really
- 24:45Speaker 13: good deal less than half price. Go to HOWI carshow
- 24:48Speaker 13: dot com. I'll make my plug at the start here
- 24:50Speaker 13: with America.
- 24:50Speaker 2: That's good. Hey, you were at mar Lago last couple
- 24:53Speaker 2: of weeks. You know, it's a fascinating place. It's like
- 24:55Speaker 2: a vacation resort. It's like a country club. But you
- 24:58Speaker 2: go in one room and there's like a podium in
- 25:01Speaker 2: a press conference room. You go in another room, there's
- 25:03Speaker 2: like a cabinet meeting war room there. It's quite a
- 25:05Speaker 2: place at Christmas, isn't it right? And they get that.
- 25:08Speaker 13: They got the little bar. And one night we're there
- 25:11Speaker 13: for my daughter's birthday, and we could we could look
- 25:14Speaker 13: right in there, and he was he was preferring in
- 25:17Speaker 13: the in this bar, and they got a big picture
- 25:19Speaker 13: of him looking like, you know, he's a squash player
- 25:22Speaker 13: from from Penn back in the nineteen sixties. It's really
- 25:27Speaker 13: a funny picture.
- 25:28Speaker 11: And no, it was.
- 25:29Speaker 13: It was great. I mean, I'd never seen bb Nut
- 25:32Speaker 13: Yahoo in person before before New Year's Eve, and you know,
- 25:37Speaker 13: he was working the he was working the pool circle,
- 25:40Speaker 13: you know where they have the bars and the or
- 25:43Speaker 13: ther set up, you know, lobster tailed caviar, really really posh,
- 25:49Speaker 13: posh spread. And then the dinner it was it was
- 25:53Speaker 13: really good, and especially when you think about what was
- 25:56Speaker 13: going on at the time, it was just it was
- 25:59Speaker 13: just great. And then to watch these Democrats yesterday, you know,
- 26:02Speaker 13: I figured out the way you know they're really they're
- 26:06Speaker 13: really shameless, mark is when they say this is all
- 26:09Speaker 13: of this is a distraction from the Epstein file. I mean,
- 26:13Speaker 13: this could be lamer than the Russian collusion hoax. You know,
- 26:18Speaker 13: how many years did they have the Epstein files all
- 26:21Speaker 13: to themselves and they couldn't find anything apparently, or they
- 26:25Speaker 13: weren't looking because they had to come up with all
- 26:26Speaker 13: these pony baloney scandals. But they keep going. I mean,
- 26:30Speaker 13: even Schumer and Jeffries don't do it anymore, you know,
- 26:34Speaker 13: I mean, it's really the most shameless of the Democrats
- 26:38Speaker 13: who bring it up. And then how about the ones
- 26:40Speaker 13: that all they all these all these videotapes of them
- 26:43Speaker 13: from twenty twenty and twenty nineteen denouncing Trump for not
- 26:47Speaker 13: getting rid of Maduro. And now they're saying it's it's
- 26:50Speaker 13: the end of democracy everywhere to get rid of Maduro,
- 26:53Speaker 13: who stole an election. I mean, and they after they
- 26:56Speaker 13: said he's stole an election, you know, in twenty twenty four,
- 26:59Speaker 13: they said he stolen election. It's just remarkable what's going
- 27:04Speaker 13: on and now and now Tim Wallas is sleeping with
- 27:07Speaker 13: the fishes, apparently in Minnesota in about an hour and
- 27:10Speaker 13: a half.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, so I'm reading the crazy left wing sites
- 27:14Speaker 2: like media ee. It says things like Maga world torn
- 27:18Speaker 2: apart over the invasion of Venezuela. You were at mar Lago.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Did they seem torn apart in that dining room there?
- 27:28Speaker 7: No, No, not at all.
- 27:30Speaker 13: I mean I was thinking when I saw when I
- 27:31Speaker 13: saw bab and uh and uh and Trump work in
- 27:35Speaker 13: the room, work in the pool. I guess I was
- 27:38Speaker 13: thinking of you know, like the you know movies like
- 27:40Speaker 13: you know The Godfather too. You know where they're they're
- 27:43Speaker 13: having all this nice party and everything that Michael Corleoni
- 27:46Speaker 13: tells Hymon Roth, Well they're going to win because you know,
- 27:50Speaker 13: they care more and they blow themselves up. But I
- 27:52Speaker 13: was thinking, this is like the reverse of math. They're
- 27:54Speaker 13: having a they're having this huge party and we didn't
- 27:58Speaker 13: know it at the time. They're preparing to invade Caracas.
- 28:01Speaker 13: There are all these riots the street, the the UH,
- 28:04Speaker 13: the the Iatola is getting ready to flee to Moscow
- 28:09Speaker 13: and join Basher assade, you know, the UH in the
- 28:13Speaker 13: UH band dictator's neighborhood of Moscow. I mean, it's it's
- 28:18Speaker 13: It was just amazing, the you know, the the energy
- 28:22Speaker 13: in the field. And Trump was in this great mood.
- 28:25Speaker 13: He he was. He was the auctioneer for this painting
- 28:28Speaker 13: that you saw that this woman put together in ten
- 28:32Speaker 13: minutes of abusus sold for two point seventy five million dollars.
- 28:37Speaker 13: And he was just a he was just in a
- 28:38Speaker 13: fantastic mood. I mean, he wasn't at all nervous about
- 28:42Speaker 13: the fact that you know, they were they were the
- 28:44Speaker 13: clock was ticking on the the invasion. They were just
- 28:47Speaker 13: waiting for the cloud cover to clear. Yeah, rockets, he wasn't.
- 28:51Speaker 13: He wasn't at all concerned about it.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Now, apparently its supposed to happen last week, but the
- 28:55Speaker 2: weather wouldn't let up. So hey explain that, explain that
- 28:59Speaker 2: auction because he decided in the middle of the party
- 29:01Speaker 2: to do a charity auction raise money for a charity,
- 29:04Speaker 2: and he auctions off a painting and in that.
- 29:06Speaker 13: Crowd, Yeah, she does a she does a paintings, uh
- 29:10Speaker 13: you know, spirit paintings. I guess she calls them. And
- 29:13Speaker 13: she's pretty good, you know, I mean she's not she's
- 29:15Speaker 13: not she's not the Rembrandt or Vermier, but she's she's
- 29:18Speaker 13: pretty good. And so he said, we're gonna raise some money.
- 29:22Speaker 13: We're gonna we're gonna try to. We got we got
- 29:24Speaker 13: more money than than we know what to do with
- 29:26Speaker 13: in this in this room. So we're just going to
- 29:29Speaker 13: try to have an auction. She's gonna they had, they
- 29:31Speaker 13: had they put some sound up. She was dressed in
- 29:33Speaker 13: a very attractive woman and she said, you know, he said,
- 29:38Speaker 13: she's going to do it in ten minutes from start
- 29:40Speaker 13: to finish. So she she does the whole painting with
- 29:43Speaker 13: you know, Christian music in the background, and it's just
- 29:47Speaker 13: you know, in between the the o Jays and Uncle
- 29:50Speaker 13: Cracker or whatever or whoever he was, and then they
- 29:53Speaker 13: have a big band playing and they they it was
- 29:57Speaker 13: just part of the festivities. And then and then Trump
- 30:00Speaker 13: Trump gets the uh gets the you know, you know,
- 30:03Speaker 13: the microphone, and he's he's the auctioneer. It's like he's
- 30:06Speaker 13: you know, it's like he's given out uh you know,
- 30:09Speaker 13: golf annual golf prizes at one of his one of
- 30:12Speaker 13: his clubs. You know, he's just he's just totally in control.
- 30:17Speaker 13: And then he you know, and then he's and then
- 30:18Speaker 13: he's acting, you know, like I've always seen him act.
- 30:21Speaker 13: At mar A Lago that the night my daughter had
- 30:24Speaker 13: had a birthday party there, you know, just we had
- 30:27Speaker 13: just a bunch of people there the day after Christmas,
- 30:30Speaker 13: and he comes by and he says, oh, this is
- 30:32Speaker 13: a fine looking table, especially the women. I mean, it's
- 30:38Speaker 13: just perfect. It's like he's running a roadhouse, you know,
- 30:41Speaker 13: nineteen sixty, you know, and he's just he's the president
- 30:46Speaker 13: of the United States and his second term and he's
- 30:48Speaker 13: just and he and he's still you know, taking care
- 30:50Speaker 13: of business. It's just it was just great. It was
- 30:54Speaker 13: it was a lot of fun.
- 30:55Speaker 2: You're right, He's like he's like Jules Puddell running the
- 30:57Speaker 2: copa Covanda Santall to the table. But let me ask
- 31:02Speaker 2: you a question. The fact that he in the middle
- 31:03Speaker 2: of this room, he auctions off a painting. It's just
- 31:05Speaker 2: a nothing painting for two point seven million. How do
- 31:09Speaker 2: you think that made Hunter Biden feel watching this?
- 31:13Speaker 13: That's that's exactly what I was thinking for the time.
- 31:16Speaker 13: You know, no wonder he's so mad at his father,
- 31:18Speaker 13: And why didn't my father ever auction up one of
- 31:21Speaker 13: my kids for two million? The most I ever got
- 31:24Speaker 13: was a half a million.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Yeah, this is something. The idea of a president taking
- 31:29Speaker 2: the vacation at Christmas. You're supposed to go away somewhere
- 31:33Speaker 2: quiet and decompress and relax, somewhere quiet, a beach something.
- 31:37Speaker 2: The idea of going to mar A Lago, where's a
- 31:39Speaker 2: thousand times more hectic than the White House. What does
- 31:41Speaker 2: that say about him?
- 31:44Speaker 13: Well, I mean, well the other thing too is I mean,
- 31:46Speaker 13: most of these people I don't know. Going back to
- 31:49Speaker 13: George Bush, I mean he used to go to his
- 31:52Speaker 13: own place, but Obama never had his own place. Biden
- 31:56Speaker 13: really never had his own place that he went, so
- 31:58Speaker 13: he went to Nantakat or something.
- 32:00Speaker 12: Act.
- 32:00Speaker 13: You know, I mean, at least this guy, at least
- 32:03Speaker 13: this guy owns his own property. That's I was thinking
- 32:05Speaker 13: about that. With Walt's. You know, Walts doesn't own any property.
- 32:08Speaker 13: He's sixty something years old, the two term governor, former congressman,
- 32:13Speaker 13: and he has no he has no real estate. I
- 32:16Speaker 13: mean it's I know people don't have real estate, but
- 32:19Speaker 13: I mean, I what's he been doing with his whole life?
- 32:22Speaker 7: You know?
- 32:23Speaker 13: I mean he's made a lot of money, he owns nothing.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Yeah, as far as making money, we don't even know
- 32:29Speaker 2: the extent. Who knows what what he's made with all
- 32:32Speaker 2: this fraud going on.
- 32:34Speaker 13: I already predicted him my herald column for New Years.
- 32:36Speaker 13: I said, he's going to be he's not going to
- 32:38Speaker 13: be running for re election, and he's going to go
- 32:40Speaker 13: to the Kennedy School of Government as an adjunct lecturer. Wow,
- 32:44Speaker 13: and you know, I so my big my first big
- 32:47Speaker 13: prediction in my New Year's column is already coming through.
- 32:51Speaker 13: And my other prediction is he This means he'll just
- 32:54Speaker 13: he can walk to pick up the profiles and courage
- 32:56Speaker 13: awarded may Well.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Everybody should. Everybody should read Howie Carr's columns. You can

- 34:42Speaker 2: a great job filling in. Everybody loved him. He'll be
- 34:44Speaker 2: back sure here, I'm sure and doing more stuff here
- 34:49Speaker 2: in the next hour. We got a lot to get to. Hey,
- 34:51Speaker 2: the new anchor of the CBS Evening News was to
- 34:55Speaker 2: debut tonight, but because of the Maduro stuff, he had
- 34:59Speaker 2: a move up the debut and he did it on Saturday.
- 35:02Speaker 2: But it was pretty interesting. What happened might signal big
- 35:07Speaker 2: changes at CBS. We'll get to that coming up the
- 35:10Speaker 2: next hour. Also, we'll talk with Rob Reiner. Yeah, a
- 35:13Speaker 2: classic interview with him coming up. Hey, I think everybody's
- 35:17Speaker 2: back today. Buck and Clay, great show, they're back today
- 35:19Speaker 2: at noon. Sean Hannity, you've all been gone two weeks
- 35:23Speaker 2: Sean will be back at three o'clock today, and then
- 35:26Speaker 2: Jimmy Fayla tonight and a whole lot more So I'll
- 35:29Speaker 2: be back after the news another hour ago, coming up
- 35:32Speaker 2: on seven to ten WR.
- 35:35Speaker 1: The Mark Simon Show on SR.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Well, I'm back way too long a vacation. Every host
- 35:49Speaker 2: was gone for two weeks. That today everybody back to normal.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Everybody's back. You know, it's nice to get away a nice,
- 35:56Speaker 2: quiet vacation. As I was saying, the President of the
- 35:59Speaker 2: United States, Donald Trump, very unusual. Normally a president takes
- 36:04Speaker 2: a break, a vacation. Bush would go to the ranch,
- 36:07Speaker 2: the ranch, quiet, peaceful, roaring fire, quiet on the ranch.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Joe Biden, would you know some billionaire oligarch would lend
- 36:21Speaker 2: him the house on Nantucket and he goes sit there
- 36:24Speaker 2: on Nantucket. Is it Martha's vineyard? Even quieter? Martha's vineyard,
- 36:30Speaker 2: roaring fire, snow outside, quiet, trump on vacation goes tomorrow, lago.
- 36:37Speaker 2: That place Christmas Week is a billion people all crammed
- 36:42Speaker 2: into It's the most crowded, chaotic, noisy place you've ever seen.
- 36:47Speaker 2: It's just a total circus going on there around the clock. Now,
- 36:53Speaker 2: that's the way he is. In fact, after two weeks there.
- 36:56Speaker 2: I watched him last night fly back to the White House.
- 36:59Speaker 2: The helicopter land on the lawn and he walked into
- 37:01Speaker 2: the White House. And the White House for him is
- 37:04Speaker 2: getting away. The White House was peace and quiet for him,
- 37:08Speaker 2: compared to the unbelievably chaotic mar A Lago, just packed
- 37:14Speaker 2: with people. You hear all these people, you see them
- 37:16Speaker 2: on Instagram. Who went to mar Alago for the New
- 37:20Speaker 2: Year's Eve party or for Christmas dinner? Or you see
- 37:24Speaker 2: him there in the dining looks so nice and beautiful
- 37:27Speaker 2: and you think, what a wonderful Hey, where do he
- 37:29Speaker 2: actually go there? You know, you know, just pull up
- 37:33Speaker 2: to the door and get out of the car and
- 37:34Speaker 2: the valley whisks your car away. It's not that simple.
- 37:38Speaker 2: You pull up, like four blocks away to a checkpoint
- 37:42Speaker 2: where the Secret Service, the FBI, guns big massive machine
- 37:48Speaker 2: guns in their hand and dogs everywhere, take your car
- 37:51Speaker 2: apart for twenty minutes. You have to open the hood,
- 37:53Speaker 2: you have to open the trunk. They have to look.
- 37:56Speaker 2: They literally look through your engine. They inspect every inch
- 37:59Speaker 2: of your car inside. They even get under your car.
- 38:02Speaker 2: They have a long pole with a mirror that they
- 38:05Speaker 2: slip under your car, they look at everything. This takes forever.
- 38:08Speaker 2: This is not to mention frisking you, searching you, checking
- 38:12Speaker 2: all your identity. This is like a forty minute process.
- 38:16Speaker 2: It makes TSA at the airport look like a breeze.
- 38:19Speaker 2: This is just to get into Borrow Lago. It's just
- 38:23Speaker 2: it's a crazy place. But we're glad everybody's back. So
- 38:28Speaker 2: the CBS Evening News has a brand new anchor and
- 38:31Speaker 2: tonight was supposed to be his big debut. But then
- 38:35Speaker 2: Saturday night, the Maduro capture takes place. This is big
- 38:39Speaker 2: breaking news. So they decide the new anchor, I tell
- 38:42Speaker 2: you his name, but who the hell can remember it?
- 38:44Speaker 2: And why remember it? The last three anchors of the
- 38:47Speaker 2: CBS Evening News actually pay for the last five of them.
- 38:50Speaker 2: Nobody remembers anyway. But he decided he would anchor the
- 38:55Speaker 2: Saturday night Evening News, that he would move it up
- 38:57Speaker 2: and that would be his debut. And it was quite shocking.
- 39:03Speaker 2: You know, they got this new Barry Weiss, who took
- 39:05Speaker 2: over CBS News, claimed she's going to clean up the
- 39:07Speaker 2: corruption it is. CBS News is the dirtiest, most corrupt, slanted, partisan, misleading,
- 39:15Speaker 2: biased news organization. She claimed she would clean it up. Well,
- 39:20Speaker 2: there was evidence of that. Saturday night, the CBS Evening
- 39:23Speaker 2: News with the new guy, I think his name is
- 39:25Speaker 2: David something, who the hell knows, but he took over
- 39:29Speaker 2: and the big story that consumed the whole half hour
- 39:32Speaker 2: newscast was the Maduro capture. And of course it's CBS News,
- 39:36Speaker 2: you know the way they write the news there, it's
- 39:38Speaker 2: kind of slanted, implying that this was something that shouldn't happen,
- 39:43Speaker 2: this Maduro capture. But then he said, with us live
- 39:47Speaker 2: now is Secretary of Defense Pete. Hegsyth and then he
- 39:51Speaker 2: put hexethon and let him talk for seven minutes. They
- 39:54Speaker 2: had to do commercial. He said, can you hold on
- 39:56Speaker 2: and come back with us? And then they brought him
- 39:59Speaker 2: back in the next segment for seven minutes, and then
- 40:01Speaker 2: at the end they said we have to go, but
- 40:04Speaker 2: for commercial, can you hang on again? And he hung
- 40:06Speaker 2: on through the second commercial break and was back for
- 40:10Speaker 2: a third segment. Now, this is the major spokesman of
- 40:13Speaker 2: the Trump administration on this matter, the Secretary of Defense.
- 40:17Speaker 2: So this is quite a change for CBS News to
- 40:20Speaker 2: give him airtime and let him give his point of
- 40:23Speaker 2: view and the administration's point of view for about twenty minutes.
- 40:28Speaker 2: You never would have seen that on the old CBS News.
- 40:30Speaker 2: So if this is an indication of change, if this
- 40:35Speaker 2: guy tonight is going to keep doing that, make it
- 40:37Speaker 2: actually a fair unbiased newscast, that'll be interesting. See what now,
- 40:43Speaker 2: it could be a formula really works. It'll take a
- 40:46Speaker 2: while for word to get around that it's not so
- 40:47Speaker 2: corrupt anymore, but who knows, it may take off in viewership.
- 40:52Speaker 2: And now the other thing is apparently Trump knew that
- 40:55Speaker 2: they're going to clean up the CBS Evening News because
- 40:58Speaker 2: the Maduro raid took in the middle of the night
- 41:02Speaker 2: and it was secret. Congress nobody got told about the raid.
- 41:06Speaker 2: It was total secrecy when it happened. But CBS News
- 41:11Speaker 2: was given the story first by the administration. They broke
- 41:14Speaker 2: the story before anybody because the administration gave it to them.
- 41:18Speaker 2: That's a pretty big thing for a news organization to
- 41:21Speaker 2: be handed that big story before anybody else. But the
- 41:24Speaker 2: President did it, so apparently he has some faith in
- 41:27Speaker 2: CBS News. Now, the Sunday Morning shows, they went right
- 41:30Speaker 2: back to total corruption. They went right back to putting
- 41:34Speaker 2: on people you shouldn't put on. Chuck Schumer has no
- 41:37Speaker 2: business being put on any Sunday morning show. He's not
- 41:40Speaker 2: going to run for reelection. He's totally irrelevant. He's a sad,
- 41:44Speaker 2: tired old Willie Lohman kind of an old politician on
- 41:47Speaker 2: his way out. But there he was huffing and puffing
- 41:50Speaker 2: on the morning shows.
- 41:51Speaker 14: If they want to do what's good for the American people,
- 41:53Speaker 14: it should not be some escapade in Venezuela. It should
- 41:56Speaker 14: be focusing on lowering the cost of livings are struggling
- 42:01Speaker 14: with every week and tell us it's the most important
- 42:03Speaker 14: issue they face.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Well, actually, he has been lowering the cost every week.
- 42:06Speaker 2: The actual statistics back that up. And an escapade getting
- 42:11Speaker 2: rid of this drug terrorist kingpin narco terror. It's not
- 42:15Speaker 2: an escapade. And we do have video. I think it's
- 42:19Speaker 2: up on my Twitter if you want to look at it.
- 42:20Speaker 2: For the last few years, Chuck Schumer has been demanding
- 42:24Speaker 2: we get rid of Maduro. He's been screaming that we
- 42:26Speaker 2: have to get rid of Maduro. The whole thing is comical. Now,
- 42:30Speaker 2: the other thing they tried arguing is this process argument
- 42:33Speaker 2: that because it is legal, it's totally legal. You can
- 42:36Speaker 2: go in there and seize Maduro. We did it with Noriega,
- 42:38Speaker 2: we did it with in fact, let me see, there's
- 42:42Speaker 2: a whole list here, how many times every president, every
- 42:46Speaker 2: single president, has run these sort of operations. You don't
- 42:50Speaker 2: need there's nothing to do with the War Powers Act.
- 42:53Speaker 2: You don't need to get congressional approval. You don't even
- 42:55Speaker 2: need to notify him. You can go through the whole list.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Jimmy Carter Iran nineteen eighty Remember the operation in the
- 43:01Speaker 2: middle of the night landing the helicopters going in to
- 43:04Speaker 2: capture the hostages and get them back. That was Jimmy
- 43:06Speaker 2: Carteron didn't notify Congress. Ronald Reagan bombing of Tripoli, bombing
- 43:12Speaker 2: of Benghazi, you didn't have to notify Congress. George H. W.
- 43:16Speaker 2: Bush Panama invasion, Iraq airstrikes. You didn't need to get
- 43:22Speaker 2: any approval or notify them. Bill Clinton did it in Bosnia,
- 43:26Speaker 2: he did it in Iraq, he did it in Kosovo.
- 43:29Speaker 2: George W. Bush launched drone strikes at invasions in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Didn't have to inform Congress. Barack Obama did it in Libya, Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Joe Biden did it in Syria, Somalia and Yemen in fact,
- 43:47Speaker 2: are still there with the airst See, you don't need
- 43:50Speaker 2: to inform anybody, You don't need to deal with Congress
- 43:53Speaker 2: on it. You don't. The War Powers Act was created
- 43:56Speaker 2: in the seventies by a bunch of left wing people,
- 43:58Speaker 2: and basically it says you can do whatever you want
- 44:00Speaker 2: for ninety days. After ninety days, you're supposed to inform us.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Schumer again, I.
- 44:05Speaker 15: Still have not been briefed. We've had some contact with
- 44:07Speaker 15: the administration in that we've asked them for the Gang
- 44:10Speaker 15: of Eight briefing and the oil Congressman and all senators briefing,
- 44:13Speaker 15: but we've gotten no information from them.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Who the hell would brief you? Why would he be
- 44:18Speaker 2: brief you? Who would even talk to you? Was to
- 44:21Speaker 2: look at you? And it was not an invasion, you
- 44:23Speaker 2: know the CBS and ABC though Sunday Morning shows it's
- 44:27Speaker 2: an invasion of Venezuela. Rubio just fought back.
- 44:31Speaker 5: It wasn't necessary because this is not an invasion. We
- 44:33Speaker 5: didn't occupy a country. This was an arrest operation. This
- 44:36Speaker 5: is a law enforcement operation. He was arrested on the
- 44:38Speaker 5: ground in Venezuela by FBI agents, read his rights and
- 44:41Speaker 5: removed from the country.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Yeah, President Trump, Congress says a tendency to leak. This
- 44:48Speaker 2: would not be good.
- 44:49Speaker 3: If they leaked, General, I think it would have been
- 44:51Speaker 3: maybe a very different result.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Yeah. Could you imagine briefing? Can you imagine would you
- 44:56Speaker 2: trust Hakim Jeffries. You remember when Pete Hexath went on signaling,
- 45:00Speaker 2: he said, this is dangerous discussing an upcoming military operation
- 45:04Speaker 2: on signal. Why somebody could find out what would be
- 45:07Speaker 2: more dangerous putting on signal chat or telling Hakeem Jeffreys
- 45:11Speaker 2: about it. But remember, the Democrats have demanded four years
- 45:15Speaker 2: they have demanded. You can go to my Twitter the
- 45:17Speaker 2: videos all up there of all the Democrats demanding the
- 45:20Speaker 2: Trump removed Maduro.
- 45:21Speaker 3: I did have conversations with him, and I said.
- 45:23Speaker 2: And he also, he didn't just remove me. He gave
- 45:26Speaker 2: Maduro many, many, many chances to leave on his own.
- 45:30Speaker 2: He gave him plenty of the exit packages that were
- 45:34Speaker 2: quite profitable for him, but he turned them all down.
- 45:36Speaker 3: I did have conversations with him, and I said, uh,
- 45:40Speaker 3: you got to surrender. And I actually thought he was
- 45:45Speaker 3: pretty close to doing so but now he wished he did.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Now here's a couple of things. You know what's interesting,
- 45:52Speaker 2: all the Democrats, of course, being just children. They're all
- 45:55Speaker 2: just childish knee jerk. You know. Whatever Trump does, they
- 45:58Speaker 2: hate it. They start screaming and whining and and they
- 46:01Speaker 2: did that. All you know who didn't say a word
- 46:02Speaker 2: about this Maduro thing. You know who's not even mentioned it.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Gavin Newsom, who is appears to be the leading candidate
- 46:12Speaker 2: in twenty twenty, and he's kept quiet about it. He
- 46:17Speaker 2: knows to stay out of it. Now he is going
- 46:19Speaker 2: to be the big guest. If you're a left wing kook,
- 46:22Speaker 2: this is a big night for you, because tonight they're
- 46:25Speaker 2: announcing it all day long tonight on Rachel Maddow. Exclusive.
- 46:31Speaker 2: It says right there on the screen right now, it
- 46:34Speaker 2: says exclusive interview with Gavin Newsom. Exclusive interview with Gavin Newsom.
- 46:41Speaker 2: I can't go five minutes without seeing Gavin Newsom on
- 46:43Speaker 2: a radio show, a podcast, a TV show. He's on
- 46:46Speaker 2: forty thousand shows a day. But this is an exclusive
- 46:50Speaker 2: with Gavin Newsom. Now let's see if she asked him
- 46:53Speaker 2: about Maduro and he's forced to comment about it. Now
- 46:55Speaker 2: here's the problem. Tim Waltz is, as Howie Carr said,
- 46:59Speaker 2: sleeping withies. Tim Waltz is dead politically, he's gone. He
- 47:04Speaker 2: will not seek reelection. He announced that an hour ago.
- 47:07Speaker 2: He will not seek reelection. He can't run for reelection.
- 47:11Speaker 2: His political career is over because of the Somalia fraud,
- 47:15Speaker 2: which is massive. Everybody says Gavin Newsom has the same
- 47:20Speaker 2: problem about to explode in California. And if that's the case,
- 47:24Speaker 2: he'll suffer the same fate that Tim Waltz suffered. He
- 47:28Speaker 2: will not be able to run and that'll be the
- 47:31Speaker 2: end of him. So this is going to be interesting
- 47:33Speaker 2: to keep an eye on. Now when it comes to Venezuela.
- 47:38Speaker 2: The only scary part when the Trump adminstration says, well,
- 47:41Speaker 2: we'll run Venezuela and everybody's, oh my god, this is
- 47:45Speaker 2: a rack all over again. This is a rack. We're
- 47:48Speaker 2: going to get bogged. Now, there's a lot of differences here,
- 47:51Speaker 2: many differences. First of all, it's not a rack. This
- 47:54Speaker 2: country does not resemble a rack. When we took over
- 47:57Speaker 2: a Raq, we had destroyed every inch of government. Was
- 48:00Speaker 2: nothing there. In the case of Venezuela, the government is
- 48:03Speaker 2: still fully functioning government still exists. We just took out
- 48:06Speaker 2: one guy. We did not touch the government. It's still there,
- 48:09Speaker 2: still functioning. The other difference is Iraq, the chaos came
- 48:14Speaker 2: from the warring factions, the different tribes, the different groups
- 48:19Speaker 2: all fighting with each other, the civil war. This is
- 48:23Speaker 2: not the case in Venezuela. There's only one group of people.
- 48:26Speaker 2: There aren't different tribes. There's unity in the population. That's
- 48:30Speaker 2: the other now. The other difference is people in Iraq,
- 48:32Speaker 2: believe it or not, they loved Sadam Hussein. People in
- 48:35Speaker 2: Venezuela hated Maduro. They're all thrilled that he's gone. The
- 48:39Speaker 2: other difference is in Iraq, we were there on the
- 48:42Speaker 2: ground occupying the country. There's no such thing. In Venezuela.
- 48:46Speaker 2: We are not there. We don't have a single soldier
- 48:49Speaker 2: on the ground there. We're doing it from offshore on
- 48:52Speaker 2: lots of ships. We got lots of planes, drones, missiles.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Also that we can do whatever we need to from there.
- 48:58Speaker 2: Who are not on the ground. You remember they always
- 49:01Speaker 2: all weekend they're bringing up the pottery barn rule. That
- 49:04Speaker 2: was Colin Powell that started that. When we went into
- 49:07Speaker 2: a Raq, you know, or we invaded. He always said,
- 49:10Speaker 2: you gotta remember the pottery barn rule. You break it,
- 49:14Speaker 2: you own it. If you break it, you own it.
- 49:17Speaker 2: He kept talking about this pottery barn rule. It was
- 49:21Speaker 2: all a myth. He just made that up. There's no
- 49:23Speaker 2: such thing, you know, if you go into pottery barn
- 49:26Speaker 2: today and accidentally break something, you don't have to buy it.
- 49:30Speaker 2: There's no pottery barn rule that if you break something
- 49:32Speaker 2: in the store you own it. The rule's false. It
- 49:35Speaker 2: never ever ever existed. Hey, the Giant season is over.
- 49:39Speaker 2: The Jets season is over, thank god.
- 49:42Speaker 13: Now.
- 49:42Speaker 2: I don't know how I got swept up in this,
- 49:44Speaker 2: but everybody kept talking about the Bills Jets game yesterday,
- 49:47Speaker 2: New York Jets, Buffalo Bills. Bruce Blakeman, who should be
- 49:51Speaker 2: the next governor. He's the best choice for governor, Bruce Blakeman.
- 49:55Speaker 2: I'm watching his Instagram. He's I'm flying up to Buffalo.
- 49:57Speaker 2: I didn't realize he's such a big Buffalo fan, has
- 50:00Speaker 2: been for years. In fact, he was wearing this Buffalo
- 50:03Speaker 2: T shirt that his sun bought him years ago. He
- 50:05Speaker 2: was such a Buffalo fan. But he flew up there
- 50:07Speaker 2: for the game, and all these people telling him to
- 50:09Speaker 2: the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets. Big game. Yes,
- 50:13Speaker 2: I'm all hyped up. I can't wait to watch as well.
- 50:15Speaker 2: I got home late. I had to miss the first
- 50:17Speaker 2: half of the game, so I put it on quickly. Oh,
- 50:21Speaker 2: I want to watch this game. I forgot it's the Jets.
- 50:24Speaker 2: What the hell am I rushing home for. As soon
- 50:26Speaker 2: as I put it on in the middle of the game,
- 50:27Speaker 2: it's like thirty eight nothing, Buffalo Bills are head. It's
- 50:30Speaker 2: the Jets. They're not gonna what game. There was nothing competitive.
- 50:34Speaker 2: I think by the end, I think the Jets got
- 50:36Speaker 2: one touchdown. It was like seventy five to two or something.
- 50:39Speaker 2: This game the Jets the worst team in the world.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Woody Johnson is a wonderful guy. He's a great guy.
- 50:46Speaker 2: I know him. I love Woody Johnson. Worst owner in
- 50:50Speaker 2: the history of sports, single worst owner ever in the
- 50:55Speaker 2: history of sports. I've never seen anybody so bad at
- 51:00Speaker 2: running anything at Woody Johnson and the Jets. It's just horrible.
- 51:05Speaker 2: And there are plenty of people saying a mechanism needs
- 51:09Speaker 2: to be created in the NFL to take a team
- 51:11Speaker 2: away from an owner if he's ever this bad. And
- 51:15Speaker 2: taking away would mean force him to sell, which is fine.
- 51:18Speaker 2: You know, he paid six hundred million for the team.
- 51:21Speaker 2: It's now worth like nine billions. So if he took
- 51:24Speaker 2: it away and made him sell it, great, he'd make
- 51:26Speaker 2: a great profit, be better for everybody. And then the
- 51:29Speaker 2: Giants they're a little better. They didn't have a good season.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Where were they four and eleven and four and thirteen
- 51:35Speaker 2: or something like that, but they won the last couple
- 51:38Speaker 2: of games. Big mistake. They should have lost them deliberately
- 51:41Speaker 2: because now you would have had a first choice in
- 51:43Speaker 2: the draft. Now you got like fourth choice in the draft.
- 51:46Speaker 2: So anyway, we'll take some calls. Next eight hundred three
- 51:49Speaker 2: to two one zero seven ten is the number. Eight
- 51:52Speaker 2: hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Mark Simoni's back on seventeen.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Well, so the left wing going nuts anything Trump does.
- 52:05Speaker 2: They're like little children. They just yell and scream and
- 52:07Speaker 2: whine and pout whatever he does. Let's say he had
- 52:10Speaker 2: a crime problem, it was out of control, and he
- 52:12Speaker 2: offered to send in troops to help police the streets
- 52:15Speaker 2: help clean up the crime. Well, they get mad and
- 52:18Speaker 2: scream and yell and pout and throw things. They go
- 52:20Speaker 2: to court, and they get a left wing judge to
- 52:23Speaker 2: ban the National Guard from coming in, and then they cheer,
- 52:28Speaker 2: They cheer that they're gonna have less security. Now, once
- 52:31Speaker 2: in a while you got a left wing guy who's
- 52:32Speaker 2: like sane rational for a moment or two of Bill
- 52:35Speaker 2: Maher or Dave Chappelle. Dave Chappelle. You know all the
- 52:40Speaker 2: left wings screaming and crying and yelling and pouting that
- 52:43Speaker 2: the National Guard came into Washington, d C. But listen
- 52:47Speaker 2: to Dave Chappelle went to Washington, d C. He's been
- 52:52Speaker 2: going there for years, but he went back. Now the
- 52:53Speaker 2: Trump said in the National Guard? And what did Chappelle say?
- 52:57Speaker 2: And I came here mad, ready to fight. But when
- 52:59Speaker 2: I drove to this they looked clean. Guys, I gotta
- 53:02Speaker 2: tell you. I gotta tell you look clean a lot
- 53:10Speaker 2: better than the last time I was here. They left
- 53:13Speaker 2: wing crowd going nuts. Let's go to doctor Bob in
- 53:17Speaker 2: Long Island. Doctor Bob, how you doing.
- 53:20Speaker 11: I'm good, Mark, welcome back, he were dearly missed. I'll
- 53:23Speaker 11: say that two things. Number One, I think that we
- 53:26Speaker 11: have our the we have instead of uh Madammie being
- 53:31Speaker 11: the mayor, he really is the first Nightmare of New York.
- 53:35Speaker 11: That's his should be his official title number two. My
- 53:38Speaker 11: take on CBS News that new anchor was a little
- 53:42Speaker 11: bit different because he was he was kind of tough
- 53:46Speaker 11: on Peter Heiksa and his his intonations were, we're not
- 53:52Speaker 11: that friendly.
- 53:52Speaker 2: But also they I think you missed the point. Of course,
- 53:55Speaker 2: of course they always they always do that. But he
- 53:59Speaker 2: gave him three four segments. He left him on the
- 54:01Speaker 2: air for twenty minutes to talk. That's never been done.
- 54:04Speaker 2: That's a big, big, big, big, big change for CBS News.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Normally just beat up the guests for twelve seconds and
- 54:10Speaker 2: throw them off. They gave Hegsa three full segments to answer.
- 54:14Speaker 2: Let's go to Alan yonkers Al.
- 54:16Speaker 11: How you doing, hey, Mark, Good health to you in
- 54:20Speaker 11: the new year.
- 54:20Speaker 13: I wish you the best.
- 54:21Speaker 16: You know, Mark, I just wanted to say, back in
- 54:23Speaker 16: the summer of seventy seven, I lived right near David
- 54:27Speaker 16: berkle Witch, the son Sam, and I've always been interested
- 54:31Speaker 16: in true crime, had a lot of members of my
- 54:33Speaker 16: family who were retired.
- 54:35Speaker 11: Law enforcement officers, and the point.
- 54:37Speaker 16: But I just wanted to Yeah, I just wanted to say,
- 54:39Speaker 16: it looks like they've finally identified who the Zodiac Killer was,
- 54:44Speaker 16: who terrorized the San Francisco It looks pretty accurate.
- 54:48Speaker 11: Did you see that?
- 54:50Speaker 2: Well? Actually no, well look into it, but no, I
- 54:54Speaker 2: was on vacation. I have not been following the Zodiac Killer.
- 54:57Speaker 2: But it's fascinating these cold cases that they solve a
- 55:01Speaker 2: million years later. Let's go to lou In Queen's lou
- 55:05Speaker 2: How you doing.
- 55:06Speaker 17: Hi, Mark, Welcome back, by the way, I had a
- 55:09Speaker 17: lot of laughs. Listener, Chris van holl In, the Senator
- 55:12Speaker 17: from Maryland going no war for oil? Does he realize
- 55:16Speaker 17: that oil is under fifty nine bucks a barrel? Which
- 55:19Speaker 17: brings it back to January twenty twenty. And the other
- 55:23Speaker 17: thing is you broke my heart. Timothy Waltz not running
- 55:28Speaker 17: for the president. Where are the last gonna come from?
- 55:32Speaker 2: Oh, don't worry. These are Democrats. They'll find somebody just
- 55:34Speaker 2: as dumb as Tim Waltz. They'll find somebody even dumber.
- 55:39Speaker 6: You know.
- 55:39Speaker 2: The problem was you have to when you pick a
- 55:41Speaker 2: vice president, pick somebody worse than you, somebody dumber than you.
- 55:45Speaker 2: That's one of the reasons Obama picked Joe Biden. You
- 55:48Speaker 2: don't want a guy that's smarter than you, that looks
- 55:50Speaker 2: better than you, sounds better, and shows you up. That's
- 55:54Speaker 2: why Biden picked Kamala Harris. Now, the problem is, when
- 55:59Speaker 2: Kamala Harris announced she was going to run, a lot
- 56:01Speaker 2: of political insiders said, where's she going to find somebody
- 56:05Speaker 2: dumber than her? That's not going to be easy. Well,
- 56:09Speaker 2: they go meet with Joshapiro. He's got an iq A
- 56:11Speaker 2: like one fifty. He's talking a mile a minute. So
- 56:13Speaker 2: that was the end of him. Then they find Tim Waltz.
- 56:16Speaker 2: They couldn't believe it. They found a guy dumber than her.
- 56:20Speaker 2: Now the problem is if he runs if he can't now,
- 56:24Speaker 2: but if he was gonna run, who the hell could
- 56:26Speaker 2: he find dumber than him? That would I mean, you know,
- 56:30Speaker 2: you'd have to go like the zoo to find somebody.
- 56:33Speaker 2: But Waltz's finished, his career is over. He announced he
- 56:36Speaker 2: will not seek reelection. That's the end to him. You
- 56:39Speaker 2: will not see him in politics anymore. I think you'll
- 56:41Speaker 2: see him try to start some sort of a TV career.
- 56:45Speaker 2: I'm sure he'll do a lot of MSNBC. Hey, by
- 56:47Speaker 2: the way, this Marjorie Taylor Green who always looked nuts
- 56:50Speaker 2: you know, she always looked nutty has been attacking Trump
- 56:54Speaker 2: left and right. Well it's paying off. He's getting the
- 56:58Speaker 2: start of a TV career. Now you know she's willing
- 57:00Speaker 2: to attack Trump and call him names, and they'll put
- 57:03Speaker 2: her on anywhere. She was on Meet the Press? Can
- 57:06Speaker 2: you Meet the Press? Spent the last few years telling
- 57:09Speaker 2: you that Marjorie Taylor Green is a complete idiot to
- 57:12Speaker 2: a totally useless mora. Now they put her on like
- 57:15Speaker 2: she's a great spokesperson, a brilliant guest. They shower with praise,
- 57:19Speaker 2: so you're going to see more of her. It's a
- 57:22Speaker 2: great occupation, just Trump bashing. You can actually find work
- 57:25Speaker 2: in television doing it. Hey, when we come back, a
- 57:30Speaker 2: conversation with Rob Reiner. I've been gone for the last
- 57:33Speaker 2: couple of weeks, but I did go through some old shows.
- 57:37Speaker 2: He's been a regular guest on this show for years.
- 57:40Speaker 2: He was a friend of mine. I love the guy,
- 57:41Speaker 2: Rob Reiner. I mean he's completely insane politically, completely nuts
- 57:46Speaker 2: childish as when it comes to politics. But aside from that,
- 57:49Speaker 2: he was a brilliant director, producer, and a great I
- 57:54Speaker 2: used to just he's like me, just studies old show
- 57:57Speaker 2: business and all the great old comedians and shows. That's
- 58:00Speaker 2: mostly what we would talk about. But when we come
- 58:02Speaker 2: back a conversation with Rob Bryan, if you want to
- 58:04Speaker 2: hear the real hymn, you'll hear it next on seven
- 58:07Speaker 2: to ten. Wr in Mark.
- 58:10Speaker 1: On Demand by setting a preset for his podcast on
- 58:14Speaker 1: the iHeartRadio app. Now back to Mark Simone on war.
- 58:20Speaker 2: Well, the terrible tragic Rob Reiner situation. So it happened, Well,
- 58:27Speaker 2: I was on when it happened that week, so I
- 58:29Speaker 2: guess that's three weeks ago, this horrible situation. But Rob
- 58:33Speaker 2: Reiner in real life a great guy. Now, a lot
- 58:36Speaker 2: of these people that are completely nuts when it comes
- 58:39Speaker 2: to politics, I mean raving lunatics, and Rob Reiner became
- 58:44Speaker 2: one of them. They just it's like in your own family,
- 58:47Speaker 2: you know, when you get together for Thanksgiving, a Christmas,
- 58:49Speaker 2: the whole family gets together, and you got an uncle
- 58:52Speaker 2: or a cousin or somebody who's a crazy left wing
- 58:55Speaker 2: and you get into these fights with them. But aside
- 58:58Speaker 2: from that, they're normal, nice people that you like a lot.
- 59:02Speaker 2: But when it comes to politics, they're crazy. They're just childish,
- 59:05Speaker 2: just nuts, the over the top crazy when it comes
- 59:09Speaker 2: to politics. So Rob Reiner used to be a regular
- 59:11Speaker 2: guest on the show. We lost a lot of regular
- 59:13Speaker 2: guests when Trump came along. We don't need to mention
- 59:18Speaker 2: all the names, but there were a lot of people
- 59:20Speaker 2: that were regular guests on this show. But that kind
- 59:24Speaker 2: of stopped in twenty sixteen Donald Trump took over. That
- 59:28Speaker 2: was the end of those guess a lot of them
- 59:30Speaker 2: we just couldn't put on anymore, or they got so
- 59:33Speaker 2: mad at us that they wouldn't come on anymore. So
- 59:35Speaker 2: that was the end of that. But Rob Reiner, I
- 59:39Speaker 2: just want you to hear this interview. This I just
- 59:40Speaker 2: went back and found an interview from a few years ago,
- 59:43Speaker 2: just right before Trump. But a good guy in real life,
- 59:46Speaker 2: and again, take away the politics. He was a normal,
- 59:49Speaker 2: nice guy. He was a brilliant director, writer, producer, actor.
- 59:54Speaker 2: So here is a conversation with Rob Reiner. Well with
- 59:58Speaker 2: us right now. Is what a talented guy, What a
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: career he's had. I'd call him a legend, but he's
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: way too young for that. But what a brilliant director,
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: a writer, performer. Rob Reiner is with us and it's
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: great to have him on the show. Rob Reiner, how
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: are you hi?
- 1:00:13Speaker 12: Mark, Thank you very much, and thank you for calling
- 1:00:15Speaker 12: me too young.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Well, you know you're one of those guys. Years from now,
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: when you're an old guy, you're gonna be the living legend.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: They're gonna be doing these tributes to you. And well
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 1:00:25Speaker 12: Yeah, Well I'm in my sixties, so I consider myself
- 1:00:29Speaker 12: a very very young old person.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but years ago, sixty was an old guy. Today
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: it's nothing.
- 1:00:35Speaker 12: Oh I love I love hearing that.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: So or it's either Rob Reiner. The new movie is
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: called Flipped. There's no better subject ever than that first love.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: And you obviously when you made this, so somebody was
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: in your mind, some first love of YOURSLF.
- 1:00:50Speaker 12: Well it was, I mean when I when I was
- 1:00:52Speaker 12: twelve going on thirteen, it was Kathy Schrilloh, and she
- 1:00:55Speaker 12: she was adorable. She looked like Hayley Mills and the
- 1:00:58Speaker 12: old parent trap. You know, she had the blonde, curly hair,
- 1:01:01Speaker 12: kind of a tomboy. And we exchanged id bracelets. And
- 1:01:05Speaker 12: I remember when I went to first kiss her, she
- 1:01:08Speaker 12: hit me with a hair brush. And see that That's
- 1:01:10Speaker 12: when I knew it was true love because I was
- 1:01:12Speaker 12: willing to endure pain in order to get a kiss.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: You ever go in like Facebook to see what where
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: Kathy Schrillo is today.
- 1:01:18Speaker 12: No, I haven't done it, you know, but I do
- 1:01:20Speaker 12: pass by her house every once in a while. It's
- 1:01:22Speaker 12: about two blocks from where I work now, and it's
- 1:01:26Speaker 12: actually just to remember that time when I was in love,
- 1:01:30Speaker 12: and you never forget that. You never forget your first love.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: So you're not curious to see if she now looks
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: like Madeline Albright or something there.
- 1:01:35Speaker 12: Oh my god, you don't do that to me.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: You know, no kid wants to learn anything in school,
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: but the one thing we all wanted to learn was
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: how to talk to a girl. And it's one thing
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: no one ever.
- 1:01:45Speaker 12: Could teach you, I know. I mean I think that,
- 1:01:48Speaker 12: you know, to this day. You know, even as adults,
- 1:01:51Speaker 12: men are just totally clueless when it comes. I mean,
- 1:01:54Speaker 12: we spend our entire lives trying to figure out, you know,
- 1:01:57Speaker 12: what we should be doing with women, and hopefully they're
- 1:02:00Speaker 12: trying to figure out what to do with us, because
- 1:02:02Speaker 12: you know, it just doesn't get any easier. I don't think.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's tough, you know, like even a guy
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: like you in Hollywood, it must have been tough as
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: the young guy. And then even if you get to
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: all in the family year though, on the biggest stars
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: in the world. It was no easier to approach a woman.
- 1:02:14Speaker 12: It never is. It never is. And I, you know,
- 1:02:16Speaker 12: I keep making the same film over and over again
- 1:02:19Speaker 12: trying to figure it out. I mean, essentially, the girl
- 1:02:22Speaker 12: is always so much more mature, she has much more
- 1:02:25Speaker 12: of a sense of herself and very settled with her.
- 1:02:27Speaker 12: And the boy is always running around like an idiot
- 1:02:29Speaker 12: trying to figure out what's going on, and he's usually dragged,
- 1:02:32Speaker 12: kicking and screaming into maturity by the girl.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: So and Rob Ryner, look at these films. If you
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: had just made any one of these, you'd be your legend.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: But from a few good men to Misery to when
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: Harry met Sally and stand by me, now, Misery, what
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: were you reflecting on there?
- 1:02:48Speaker 12: Well that, you know, oddly enough, it sounds weird for
- 1:02:50Speaker 12: me to be making a film like that. But at
- 1:02:53Speaker 12: the time, you know, I when I became a director,
- 1:02:57Speaker 12: the people from television just were not full of as
- 1:03:00Speaker 12: being movie people. We were looked down upon like second
- 1:03:03Speaker 12: class citizens, and you know, the lesser of you know,
- 1:03:06Speaker 12: the lesser show business people. And so it was hard
- 1:03:09Speaker 12: for me to make the transition to become a director,
- 1:03:11Speaker 12: and I related to the guy in the in the
- 1:03:13Speaker 12: movie who was a success doing one kind of thing,
- 1:03:16Speaker 12: who wanted to do something else and was being held
- 1:03:18Speaker 12: down by these fans that wanted to keep him trapped
- 1:03:21Speaker 12: in that one, you know, one area. So I kind
- 1:03:24Speaker 12: of related to that character.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: I gotta be honest. There are scenes in Misery I
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: cannot watch certain moments. I can't look at it.
- 1:03:30Speaker 12: I mean, you have a problem with that ankle break.
- 1:03:32Speaker 12: I can't what you are you a wos Yes?
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: How did you look at it? Take after it takes? Oh?
- 1:03:39Speaker 12: No, well, you know, I mean wow, because I know
- 1:03:41Speaker 12: what went into it. I know we didn't actually break
- 1:03:44Speaker 12: his ankle, so I but it is. It is pretty gruesome,
- 1:03:47Speaker 12: and most people have When we first screened it, people
- 1:03:50Speaker 12: were just whoa, They was crazy.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: Rob Briner one of the great directors in the world.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: What's tougher to direct a guy like Jack Nicholson or
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: one of these kids in the.
- 1:04:01Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:04:03Speaker 12: Jack's gonna kill me Jack? No, they're both. They're all professionals.
- 1:04:07Speaker 12: I mean, oddly enough, these two kids were as developed
- 1:04:12Speaker 12: as any adult I've ever worked with. So you know,
- 1:04:15Speaker 12: when I did Stand by Me, it was it was
- 1:04:17Speaker 12: tougher because the kids were not as experienced and some
- 1:04:20Speaker 12: of them hadn't never acted before. But in this case,
- 1:04:23Speaker 12: the kids were. Their craft was as developed as any
- 1:04:25Speaker 12: adult I've worked with. So I would say, even even
- 1:04:28Speaker 12: between Jack Nicholson and the kids.
- 1:04:30Speaker 11: Wow.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: But so you've got such a track record of the
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: guys like you. Very few, but guys like you who
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: everything they pick, every project, it's brilliant, it's great, it's this.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: And then you get other guys who even top stars,
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: who one movie's great, one movie is just ridiculous. You
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: wonder what made them even do it? What does that
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: all come from?
- 1:04:48Speaker 12: You know, it's just instinct. You have an indet listen.
- 1:04:50Speaker 12: I've had some flops too, you know, everybody does. You know,
- 1:04:54Speaker 12: it's just an instinct. You go with what you think
- 1:04:57Speaker 12: you like and hopefully the audience like. And you know,
- 1:05:00Speaker 12: I've been lucky more often than not that the audience
- 1:05:03Speaker 12: did like what I liked.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: Now we're talking with Rob Reiner. Let me ask you
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: all in the family question. We were arguing about this before.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: It was a revolutionary breakthrough show is brilliant, but what
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: we were saying, was you couldn't do that show today,
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: you would never get it on the air.
- 1:05:16Speaker 12: No, No, We're living in two PC a world for
- 1:05:19Speaker 12: that for that to happen. And I think also attitudes
- 1:05:22Speaker 12: have changed. I mean it's not to say we couldn't
- 1:05:24Speaker 12: have a show where there was the issues of the
- 1:05:26Speaker 12: day debated. You know, we are living in a very
- 1:05:29Speaker 12: divided country, you know, red state, blue state and all that.
- 1:05:33Speaker 12: But I think the arguments would not be there would
- 1:05:36Speaker 12: be a little bit more PC. I mean, the racism
- 1:05:38Speaker 12: has not completely gone away, but obviously we have elected
- 1:05:41Speaker 12: a black president and so things have changed dramatically since
- 1:05:46Speaker 12: the early seventies, but they raised, you know, the arguments
- 1:05:50Speaker 12: would be much more muted. I think.
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: Yeah. And even if normally we're trying to use Archie
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: Bunger to expose what was wrong today, you'd have sponsored boycotts,
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: you'd have everything.
- 1:05:58Speaker 12: Oh yeah, no, no, you couldn't. You couldn't have that.
- 1:06:00Speaker 12: And people don't really talk like that now. I mean
- 1:06:03Speaker 12: it's changed a lot. I mean people may still feel
- 1:06:05Speaker 12: those things, but they are at least smart. Unless you're
- 1:06:09Speaker 12: Lawa's Lessinger. Then then you don't know that you shouldn't
- 1:06:12Speaker 12: talk like that.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: Who's that doctor Laura?
- 1:06:15Speaker 12: Yeah, don't you remember I know her last name?
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: Yeah, doctor Laura yea yeah.
- 1:06:19Speaker 12: No, she pulled the N word out of the hat
- 1:06:22Speaker 12: there and and basically joined a long line of people
- 1:06:25Speaker 12: who have destroyed their careers.
- 1:06:27Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: She seemed like a combination Archie and Edith Punker all
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: at once. There you go, hit makes you one with
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: it because you we're talking about your judgment you're great at.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: And so this this company you formed, castle Rock. Yeah,
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: every time I see something brilliant, even Seinfeld, there's that
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: name castle Rock at the end of it.
- 1:06:42Speaker 12: Yeah. We named it actually after the town in stand
- 1:06:45Speaker 12: By Me, which was Stephen King's creation.
- 1:06:48Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:06:48Speaker 12: It was the stand by Me was taken from a
- 1:06:50Speaker 12: Stephen King novella called The Body, And so I loved
- 1:06:54Speaker 12: making that movie. It meant so much to me, like Flipped,
- 1:06:58Speaker 12: and they're very similar in that way. And so we
- 1:07:00Speaker 12: named our company that And we've been around the twenty
- 1:07:03Speaker 12: three years now. We've made like over one hundred movies.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Wow, and you're in part responsible for Seinfeld.
- 1:07:10Speaker 12: Yes, that was our That was our TV show that
- 1:07:12Speaker 12: we that we produced and we you know, We're very
- 1:07:15Speaker 12: proud of a lot of the films. I mean, we
- 1:07:16Speaker 12: had Shoushank Redemption, which was one of our favorite films
- 1:07:20Speaker 12: that we've done, and it's been, you know, on all
- 1:07:22Speaker 12: these top ten lists, and so we've done. We're very
- 1:07:25Speaker 12: happy with what we've done.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: Wow, amazing career. And I guess it runs in the
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: family too, because normally, when there's a great a guy
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: like your father, the son's never quite as good.
- 1:07:34Speaker 12: But in this case, yeah, you know, it's funny that
- 1:07:36Speaker 12: you mentioned that because I've had this conversation with Michael Douglas.
- 1:07:40Speaker 12: You know, on a number of occasions, are very few
- 1:07:42Speaker 12: you can count them on one hand of the children
- 1:07:45Speaker 12: of very successful people in show business who you know,
- 1:07:48Speaker 12: achieved at at a very high level, whose children have
- 1:07:52Speaker 12: survived and done well. I mean it's a small, small list.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, usually it's more I hit to say it,
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: like a Frank Sineuder junior kind of deal. And so
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: you must have worried about that, the comparison I did.
- 1:08:04Speaker 12: I mean, you know, it's it's a tough road to
- 1:08:06Speaker 12: hoe and but I my dad tells this story all
- 1:08:08Speaker 12: the time and I don't remember it, but he tells it.
- 1:08:11Speaker 12: When I was eight years old, Apparently I went up
- 1:08:13Speaker 12: to him and you know, I said, Dad, I want
- 1:08:16Speaker 12: to change my name. And he got all worried. He thought,
- 1:08:19Speaker 12: oh my god, this poor kid is worried about having
- 1:08:21Speaker 12: to live up to the you know, to Carl Reiner
- 1:08:24Speaker 12: and all this stuff. And so he said, well, what
- 1:08:26Speaker 12: do you want to change your name to? And I
- 1:08:28Speaker 12: said Carl. Basically, I love being a Reiner and I
- 1:08:33Speaker 12: just wanted to be like him, you know, I just
- 1:08:34Speaker 12: I loved him so much, and I looked up to
- 1:08:36Speaker 12: him so much. I just wanted to be him.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: So now, you know, you have to have a child
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: that's going to take over the family business.
- 1:08:42Speaker 12: Well, I don't know. And I have three kids, and
- 1:08:44Speaker 12: you know, I don't know what they're going to do.
- 1:08:45Speaker 12: But whatever they choose, and as long as they're happy
- 1:08:48Speaker 12: in doing what they like, I'm I'm happy.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Well, Well, Rob Reiner, congratulations on an absolutely amazing career,
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: and keep up all the good work.
- 1:08:56Speaker 12: Thank you so much for having me Mark.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: All right, take care, Okay, bye bye, Rob Reiner. A
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: couple of years ago, do you hear that part at
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: the end, we're talking about his kids. So he said,
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: I have three kids. I don't know what they're gonna do.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: WHOA Anyway, the son, Nick Reiner in custody. He'll go
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: to trial. They both sides have asked to delay it.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: So normally be happening this week. It's going to be
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: towards the end of the month they'll start. Nobody knows
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: what the sun will plead. Could be not guilty, could
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: be insanity. You know these drugs they put kids on
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: that have all kinds of mental troubles the side effects,
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: and it says right in the side effects these psychotropic drugs,
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: it says could cause homicidal behavior, suicidal behavior, could cause
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: all kinds of stuff like that. So they may go
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: after that use that as the defense that it was
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: the drugs that did this to them. But we'll see.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: Today's the anniversary one year anniversary of congestion pricing. You know,
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: the Democrats yell and scream about affordability, then they hit
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: you with congestion pricing, which affects a lot of people working.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: People the drive trucks or cabs or stuff like that,
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: or need to commute in the middle of the night
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: or something like that. So a year anniversary and today
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: the MTA tolls go up. Fair hike, MTA fair hike
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: begins today. So this is of course typical you know,
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: democratic left wing socialist definitely, you know, totally hypocritical, yelling
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: about affordabilding and then raising the price on everything. Now,
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: where's Mumdani on this? Why has he gotten rid of
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: the congestion pricing? Why is he speaking of about this
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: toll increase which affects everybody, you know, the MTA raising
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: the tolls. It doesn't affect a lot of billionaires. It
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: really doesn't bother them at all. It's people that are
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: working hard or struggling, that's who suffers from this. But
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: not a word from Mamdani about it. His inauguration a mess.
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: Hey Curtis was there at the inauguration. Chuck Schumer was
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: there but left in the middle. Typical rude Chuck Schumer
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: just left right in the middle. Mandy Patinkin performed there.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: If you love Mandy Patinkin, think twice about it. Nobody
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: worked harder to get Momdannie elected than this lunatic Mandy Patinkin. Anyway,
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: we got a lot to well, we'll wrap it up
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: in a moment. Bucking Clay are back. They'll be here today,
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: and Sean Hannity back at three, Jimmy Fayla back tonight,
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: coming up on seven to ten.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: WR you're ahead of the game just for being here,
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: he s marks alone on sevent tenor.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Well, we're out of time. Not bad first show back.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: I think I got the hang of it. I think
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: we'll be okay for the rest of the week. Anyway,
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: we thank Curtis for filling in for a couple of weeks.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: It's that, you know, everybody was gone for two weeks,
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: all the hosts radio television, everybody vanished for two weeks.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: Everybody should be back today. Buck and Clay do a
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: great show. They'll be coming up next. I think they're
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: both back today. Then the most listened to radio show
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: in America, Sean Hannity three o'clock. He'll be back, and
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: Jesse Kelly at six and Jimmy Faylor will be back.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: That's you should listen to that every night. It's a
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: great show nine to midnight. And I'm here ten to
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: noon every day. And hey, also make sure you follow
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: me on Twitter. Lots of great videos and stuff I
