0:07
Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Schrager is a production of the
0:09
Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. Welcome everybody to the What
0:26
Speaker 1: are we calling this, Aaron? I think we should call
0:27
Speaker 1: this the Draft Eve Barbecue Feast Extravaganza episode of the
0:39
Speaker 1: Peter Schrager Season with Peter Schrager Podcast. Does that sound right?
0:44
Speaker 2: Yeah? Repeater for me one more time, just so I
0:45
Speaker 2: have it exactly.
0:46
Speaker 1: Draft Eve Kansas City that I mentioned, can't see the
0:49
Speaker 1: first time. I don't Draft Eve Kansas City Barbecue Feast
0:55
Speaker 1: episode of the Season with Peter Schreeger. I don't think
0:58
Speaker 1: we need the two.
1:01
Speaker 2: Yet.
1:01
Speaker 1: I love that works. Should we talk to the listeners
1:05
Speaker 1: right now? But what we just experienced?
1:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, tell us about the feast part of the feast episode?
1:11
Speaker 1: All right, I know you guys all want draft stuff.
1:13
Speaker 1: And if you're listening to this, it's probably Thursday morning
1:14
Speaker 1: on your commute, or maybe you are at the gym
1:16
Speaker 1: and you're on a treadmill or an elliptical and you're listening,
1:19
Speaker 1: and I'm sorry to do this to you. So we
1:22
Speaker 1: just had a barbecue feast. And if I sound fatigued,
1:24
Speaker 1: I feel like I just went ten rounds with Tyson.
1:28
Speaker 1: It was amazing. So there's a barbecue place in Kansas City. Okay,
1:31
Speaker 1: first of all, Kansas City, everyone's got the barbecue place, like,
1:34
Speaker 1: you gotta go to this one.
1:35
Speaker 2: You gotta go to this one.
1:35
Speaker 1: Go to Kansasity. Oh, you gotta try this. There is
1:39
Speaker 1: a place in Kansas City called Joe's at Joe's Case
1:42
Speaker 1: and they are known for this legendary sandwich called the
1:46
Speaker 1: z Man. Everybody has their barbecue place. Everyone says, you
1:49
Speaker 1: gotta go here, here, I go to the top. Paul
1:52
Speaker 1: Rudd told me, yep, name drop. Paul Rubb told me,
1:55
Speaker 1: when you get to Kansas City, wait in line at
1:57
Speaker 1: this gas station called Joe's Kansas City Barbecue. They have
2:01
Speaker 1: something called a z Man sandwich. I said done. Followed
2:04
Speaker 1: them on Twitter, said we're coming. You can you set
2:07
Speaker 1: us up with the z Man. Sure enough, our guys
2:10
Speaker 1: Sean here, from iHeart, we got Chason English here, from iHeart,
2:13
Speaker 1: we got you. We all were given the amazing experience
2:18
Speaker 1: of the z Man sandwich. But we also got some
2:20
Speaker 1: mac and cheese. We also got some baked beans. We
2:24
Speaker 1: also got some pork ribs, some brands. This is all
2:28
Speaker 1: before we went to work today, Like, so this is
2:31
Speaker 1: just we went all right, So let's talk about the
2:33
Speaker 1: z Man before we even get into the draft. Sorry,
2:36
Speaker 1: if you're listening again, fast forward, like Mark Marin, Just
2:38
Speaker 1: fast forward through all the crap I say in the monologue.
2:40
Speaker 1: No one cares. Here we go. It's a.
2:44
Speaker 2: Wrong but like lightly buttered, yep, toasted, lightly buttered.
2:47
Speaker 1: Lightly buttered. Onion rings piping hot onions.
2:52
Speaker 2: Very crunchy, incredible texture.
2:54
Speaker 1: Okay, trovolone cheese melted okay. And then the beautiful stuff.
3:01
Speaker 2: Burnt and the brisket. The sandwich is the beef brisket
3:06
Speaker 2: and corrected beef brisket slices folded on top of each other.
3:11
Speaker 1: It's it's a beautiful medley. I feel like Alison Roman here.
3:15
Speaker 1: I'm going to explain all of this.
3:17
Speaker 2: Two pickles on the side. You put them in if
3:20
Speaker 2: you want to put them, of course, of course you
3:21
Speaker 2: put them in, yep.
3:22
Speaker 1: And then there's a sauce called the Night of the
3:25
Speaker 1: Living Sauce, and it's a hot, spicy barbecue sauce and
3:30
Speaker 1: it's soaked in that had this in about thirteen seconds
3:36
Speaker 1: down it I'm staring at a second one right now,
3:38
Speaker 1: and I'm debating whether I should go for.
3:41
Speaker 2: It, and this the hot sauce is surprisingly hot. I
3:44
Speaker 2: was expecting it to like have a little kick. It's
3:46
Speaker 2: got some kick, got some real kick. And the regular
3:49
Speaker 2: barbecue sauce just a good compliment. I had both of
3:51
Speaker 2: them on mine a little bit. I first put the
3:54
Speaker 2: regular on to see how that was, and then I
3:55
Speaker 2: dipped it in the spicy one and was like, yes,
3:58
Speaker 2: goes on the sandwich. It's incredible.
4:00
Speaker 1: Beauty of this place is that it's it's a gas
4:01
Speaker 1: station and it's got two working pumps still, and you
4:05
Speaker 1: go and there's a line around the corner. Show went
4:07
Speaker 1: and picked it up for us and said, at you know,
4:09
Speaker 1: it's seven o'clock and line up the corner. Rudd has
4:13
Speaker 1: told me that he comes for Chiefs games. He'll fly
4:15
Speaker 1: in and on a Saturday afternoon they'll go. And he's
4:18
Speaker 1: Paul Ruddy. He's really famous. He was in such hits
4:20
Speaker 1: as twenty one Cigarettes and plenty of other movies that
4:22
Speaker 1: you've heard of. And he said, it's like one hundred
4:26
Speaker 1: people deep and everyone's just festive and great, and then
4:29
Speaker 1: you get the z man. That's what you get there.
4:31
Speaker 1: So I put it on Twitter that we were having
4:33
Speaker 1: the z Man, and I would say the response. Sometimes
4:37
Speaker 1: I break NFL news, I'm like, hey, this guy's signing
4:39
Speaker 1: with this team, or this player is injured out for
4:42
Speaker 1: the game, and there's a tepid response. They're like, okay,
4:44
Speaker 1: great retweet, Okay, let's go, everyone aggregate it. Fine. The
4:48
Speaker 1: response has been so passionate over a mere picture of
4:51
Speaker 1: the z Man that I feel like I've been missing
4:53
Speaker 1: something in the first forty years of my life.
4:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, you should have been reviewing sandwiches this whole time.
4:57
Speaker 1: It sounds like a job, sounds great. Maybe it's this,
5:02
Speaker 1: And I feel like everyone probably in the podcast world
5:05
Speaker 1: has pitched this, and you guys work for iHeart, and
5:07
Speaker 1: I can imagine someone walks in, like, all right, so
5:10
Speaker 1: it's hot ones, but instead of it being hot sauce,
5:15
Speaker 1: it's barbecue. And each different question gets a little bit
5:21
Speaker 1: more personal, a little deeper, and you also have to
5:25
Speaker 1: eat like a burnt end and then a rib and
5:27
Speaker 1: then pulled pork, and then you know, you go right
5:30
Speaker 1: down the list.
5:32
Speaker 2: I haven't personally received that pitch. I do know that
5:34
Speaker 2: that pitch is not uncommon.
5:37
Speaker 1: And they don't realize that Sean Evans himself is an
5:40
Speaker 1: incredible interviewer, and that a lot of these people that
5:43
Speaker 1: do his show. And I thought the Karen Kulkan one
5:45
Speaker 1: was great. This is now just a commercial for hot ones.
5:48
Speaker 1: And then I saw the Jake Jillenhl Died one. It
5:51
Speaker 1: was great. He's a great interviewer and the celebrities like
5:54
Speaker 1: being interviewed by him. It's not because they like the
5:56
Speaker 1: hot sauce.
5:58
Speaker 2: Even you also mentioned before we leave the food portion.
6:02
Speaker 2: Oh my god, So I am particular like I think
6:06
Speaker 2: the z man is to force a football comparison here,
6:11
Speaker 2: the z Man is your quarterback. I thought the ribs
6:13
Speaker 2: were like the ribs were Bejon the ribs, the texture
6:18
Speaker 2: they have this sauce and when it's cooked it's a
6:20
Speaker 2: little crispy on the outside and a little sweetness too.
6:24
Speaker 1: And I want to make the sweetest love basically we're
6:27
Speaker 1: talking about me too.
6:28
Speaker 2: The ribs were so good, love ribs and this was
6:32
Speaker 2: a great set of ribs, great culinary experience.
6:35
Speaker 1: Yes, Also, is this our first You and Me show
6:38
Speaker 1: on the road road. We're in Kansas City, folks, it's
6:41
Speaker 1: alive hotels bumping. I got here, check in. I see
6:45
Speaker 1: Susie Colber'm like, what's up, Sue's how you doing. I
6:48
Speaker 1: get on the elevator. Desmond Howard's there. He tells me
6:50
Speaker 1: he's a fan of the show. I said, guess what,
6:52
Speaker 1: love what you do? Love the Hivesman pos Also, what
6:56
Speaker 1: you guys have been doing on game day for the
6:57
Speaker 1: last one hundred years is kind of what we try
6:59
Speaker 1: to embody on Good Morning Football. He was very complimentary.
7:02
Speaker 1: I was very complimentary. That's the draft. Everyone's in a
7:05
Speaker 1: good mood. No one said they didn't like our show,
7:08
Speaker 1: and nobody had anything nasty to say about the z Man.
7:11
Speaker 1: We all enjoy it.
7:11
Speaker 2: Of course, of course, all.
7:13
Speaker 1: Right now, if you're listening, as we said, I'd suggest
7:17
Speaker 1: either a putting this in like the archive for after
7:21
Speaker 1: the draft to see how well we did in talking
7:23
Speaker 1: about it. Or b use this as your before draft
7:27
Speaker 1: drive home, drive to work, whatever it is, your workout.
7:31
Speaker 1: Even if this posts tonight and you wake up early
7:33
Speaker 1: in the morning and it's your commute on the subway
7:35
Speaker 1: in whatever it is, this is your ultimate primer before
7:39
Speaker 1: what I And this is not me copping out like
7:42
Speaker 1: I went on McAfee show and he's like, don't you
7:44
Speaker 1: dare start pulling one of these, and I'm like, this
7:46
Speaker 1: is the most unpredictable draft. It's not the best draft.
7:49
Speaker 1: I don't know if any of these guys are going
7:50
Speaker 1: to be all pros. It's not the best draft. It's
7:52
Speaker 1: not the deepest draft. It's not the greatest draft. It's
7:54
Speaker 1: the most unpredictable draft because of exactly that point. There
7:58
Speaker 1: are so many teams up top who have so many needs.
8:02
Speaker 1: There are teams with multiple picks. It means they could
8:04
Speaker 1: be a little creative. There are a lot of teams
8:05
Speaker 1: who want to trade. I know there are a lot
8:07
Speaker 1: of teams that are not interested in any of these quarterbacks,
8:11
Speaker 1: and you'd have needs at quarterback. So I just think
8:14
Speaker 1: it's gonna be really interesting draft in that TV wise
8:17
Speaker 1: like it. I would say it's going to be a
8:21
Speaker 1: lot of drama and there's going to be quite a
8:23
Speaker 1: bit of surprises, and I like that more than necessarily
8:29
Speaker 1: just a chalk draft, which has been several times in
8:31
Speaker 1: the last few years where it's like the top ten.
8:33
Speaker 1: I think I nailed the top ten pick right pick
8:35
Speaker 1: last year, except for one of them. Maybe I got
8:37
Speaker 1: wrong with like the wide receivers. I think I had
8:39
Speaker 1: Drake London and Garrett Wilson switched with the Jets, but
8:42
Speaker 1: like to go nine to ten on the first ten
8:44
Speaker 1: picks is pretty good this year. I could tell you
8:46
Speaker 1: confidently I just clicked send on my mock draft, and
8:48
Speaker 1: I might have one or two that I feel confident about.
8:52
Speaker 1: And last night, if we could show the phone, I
8:54
Speaker 1: would I'd say I spoke to twenty general managers over
8:57
Speaker 1: the course of like a five hour span, and the
9:00
Speaker 1: rules of this with that, I don't want to know
9:02
Speaker 1: who you're picking. Let's gossip, Let's hear what you think.
9:05
Speaker 1: I'll go through the players. Tell me your thoughts, and
9:07
Speaker 1: if hypothetically these five guys are on the board, who
9:11
Speaker 1: would you take? And then a lot of times it's
9:13
Speaker 1: you know, go go at yourself. I'm not telling you
9:15
Speaker 1: what I'm going to take. But here's that guy's too high.
9:17
Speaker 1: That guy should be gone. Actually Atlanta needs this, And
9:20
Speaker 1: if you know the history of what they do, it's
9:22
Speaker 1: all really interesting. I think that's a show in itself.
9:25
Speaker 1: Last night, me trying to get to the answers and
9:28
Speaker 1: getting no conclusions. Let's go through ten points I want
9:33
Speaker 1: to make about this draft. Let's put some snazzy music
9:35
Speaker 1: like drum roll or something, or maybe maybe like a
9:39
Speaker 1: what was the show the Weakest Lang?
9:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, big noise A Millionaire?
9:45
Speaker 1: Is that a show who wants to be a Millionaire?
9:48
Speaker 2: I think that's the name? Yes, yeah, yeah.
9:51
Speaker 1: All right, so google that, get that going. We're going
9:54
Speaker 1: to get that sound chime going. And here are ten
9:58
Speaker 1: things I believe the day before the draft, after feasting
10:05
Speaker 1: on a Joe's from Joe's case in Kansas City, Joe's
10:11
Speaker 1: case in Kansas City, and feeling mildly drunk on barbecue
10:15
Speaker 1: right now, I've got that, like not meat sweats, but
10:19
Speaker 1: like that post Thanksgiving, Like all right, here we go.
10:23
Speaker 1: Number one. I think the top ten will break this way.
10:27
Speaker 1: Three quarterbacks selected. Those quarterbacks being in no particular order,
10:32
Speaker 1: Bryce Young, c. J. Stroud, Will Levis, three defensive linemen
10:38
Speaker 1: being selected in no particular order, Will Anderson, Tyree Wilson,
10:43
Speaker 1: Jalen Carter, two cornerbacks selected in no particular order, Devin
10:52
Speaker 1: Weatherspoon and Christian Gonzales. And two offensive linemen selected in
10:59
Speaker 1: no particular order, Paris Johnson Junior and Peter Scornsky. Number
11:06
Speaker 1: two two. Two running backs will go in the first round,
11:11
Speaker 1: but they will not be selected until the twenties, meaning
11:15
Speaker 1: v Jon Robinson, who is the number two overall player
11:19
Speaker 1: on just about every team's board, is going to fall
11:23
Speaker 1: into the twenties. I talked to everyone yesterday. Everyone loves Jon,
11:28
Speaker 1: everyone wants b Jeon Robinson. Everyone believes b Jeon Robinson
11:31
Speaker 1: is going to be a top running back in the league.
11:34
Speaker 1: To a man, I could not find a team in
11:38
Speaker 1: the top twenty who would say they would select him.
11:41
Speaker 1: So let's go through the usual suspects that people have
11:44
Speaker 1: been attaching him to the Falcons. I think they're going defense, folks.
11:48
Speaker 1: I think they're going either the corner and that might
11:51
Speaker 1: be Weatherspoon or Gonzales, or they're gonna end up taking
11:54
Speaker 1: whatever defensive lineman is still on the board, and that
11:57
Speaker 1: could be Tyree Wilson, it could potentially be Jalen Carter,
12:01
Speaker 1: it could potentially be Will Anderson if something happens. I
12:03
Speaker 1: also think Atlanta could trade up if one of those
12:06
Speaker 1: three defensive linemen starts turning down, and then I think
12:11
Speaker 1: Atlanta could trade back. I would be shocked if Atlanta
12:14
Speaker 1: took Jehn Robinson eighth overall. So then let's go through
12:17
Speaker 1: the rest of the teams. Texans have the twelfth pick.
12:20
Speaker 1: Why wouldn't the Texans taken well, they have Damian Pierce,
12:23
Speaker 1: who was basically a stud back. They have a million
12:25
Speaker 1: other needs. One thing they don't need is running back.
12:29
Speaker 1: Jets have Breisee Hall, Packers have Aaron Jones and aj Dillon.
12:34
Speaker 1: Steelers drafted Naji Harris in the first round. I've seen
12:38
Speaker 1: Philly at ten. It would go really, really, really against
12:42
Speaker 1: what he's done in the past. I have them taking
12:44
Speaker 1: Peter Scarnsky, the most boring pick in the world for
12:47
Speaker 1: a team that everyone thinks is gonna take some huge swing.
12:50
Speaker 1: I think they take an offensive lineman who could play
12:52
Speaker 1: guard tackle at a Northwestern and Jeff Stoutlind, who's the
12:56
Speaker 1: offensive line coach, just gets another big dog to keep
12:59
Speaker 1: that thing going where they just replenish and replenish and replenish.
13:03
Speaker 1: I don't think Howie takes Bjeon Robinson tenth. Overall, I've
13:06
Speaker 1: had it my mock the last you know, the first
13:09
Speaker 1: mock draft, and I did a live mock draft with
13:11
Speaker 1: Joel Klatt. I put him there. I did a live
13:13
Speaker 1: mock draft with Daniel Deremiya. I want him on Philly.
13:15
Speaker 1: I think that'd be awesome, it'd be fun, it'd be great.
13:17
Speaker 1: They'd get him over the hump whole thing. But the
13:20
Speaker 1: more I dig into this thing, the more I think
13:22
Speaker 1: it's either going to be a defensive lineman. I know,
13:26
Speaker 1: like if if Jalen Carter's there a corner, if one
13:30
Speaker 1: of the two corners is there, Gonzales or Wetherspoon, And
13:35
Speaker 1: then if not, I think it's it's either Paris Johnson
13:38
Speaker 1: or Peter Skearnsky whichever tackles left. Gosh, if you're expecting
13:44
Speaker 1: Bjohn Robinson and you get Peter Scarronski, it's like two
13:46
Speaker 1: totally different types of you know, decisions. But that's the
13:50
Speaker 1: beauty of it. So what about the Buccaneers at nineteen
13:54
Speaker 1: They just lost Leonard Fournette for Shot White. They like
13:57
Speaker 1: and they have a lot of needs. I don't have
13:59
Speaker 1: them taking running back. You start going through it. Twenty Seahawks,
14:03
Speaker 1: Well they took Kenneth Walker. If you have a couple
14:05
Speaker 1: of trades in be there and maybe it's not them anymore.
14:07
Speaker 1: Whatever it is, I have the twenty third pick. The
14:10
Speaker 1: Minnesota Vikings with Dalvin Cook on the roster, taking Bjeon
14:13
Speaker 1: Robinson twenty third, and the thought being he's just too good.
14:18
Speaker 1: Let's just get another weapon. We would have an awesome offense.
14:20
Speaker 1: And this guy with Dalvin Cook and Dalvin's contract, he
14:23
Speaker 1: just signed a new extension, but like, all right, let's
14:26
Speaker 1: just get better. And then I've got an even crazier one.
14:28
Speaker 1: Two picks later, I have the New York Giants ticking
14:31
Speaker 1: Jamiir Gibbs, which would cause an earthquake in New York
14:37
Speaker 1: because of the Saquon Barkley situation. In short, my theory is,
14:40
Speaker 1: as the Giants, I know some things about that organization.
14:44
Speaker 1: If you listen, you know I'm tied in with a
14:46
Speaker 1: lot of those guys. The Saquon thing is not in
14:48
Speaker 1: a great place right now. They offered him a nice,
14:50
Speaker 1: big contract extension before the season was over in the
14:54
Speaker 1: bye week. He said no, thank you. He said, let's
14:56
Speaker 1: roll into the free agency. They offered him another one
14:59
Speaker 1: in fregency. He didn't accept, and then he got the
15:02
Speaker 1: franchise tag at ten million, and he's not happy with it,
15:04
Speaker 1: doesn't want to play on that. There trying to negotiate,
15:07
Speaker 1: but I don't think he's getting the same contract he
15:09
Speaker 1: was offered during the bye week, So with that in
15:12
Speaker 1: the background, and also the Giants being pretty good at
15:15
Speaker 1: wide receiver, maybe a tight end if Michael Mayer falls
15:18
Speaker 1: to them or Kinkaid falls to them. But gosh, Gibbs
15:21
Speaker 1: is a lightning rod and would be an amazing addition
15:23
Speaker 1: to this team. And I'm just here for the chaos.
15:26
Speaker 1: So I've got twenty three and twenty five in my draft,
15:30
Speaker 1: Bijon Robinson falling, and then the shocker, the New York
15:33
Speaker 1: Giants going running back if he's on the board.
15:35
Speaker 2: Do you think that Gibbs is going in the twenties
15:37
Speaker 2: because a team really wants Bijon can't get him and
15:41
Speaker 2: then pivot to Gibbs or are they looking because they're
15:44
Speaker 2: very different players. Gibbs is so much more of a
15:46
Speaker 2: pass catcher. Do you think they're looking specifically for his
15:50
Speaker 2: skill set?
15:51
Speaker 1: Okay, I think he is not the Bijon backup. I
15:55
Speaker 1: think this guy is unique in his own right and
15:57
Speaker 1: does things completely different and might be even more valuable
16:00
Speaker 1: to a team than your traditional three down back and
16:02
Speaker 1: Bjon Robinson. Here are the comparisons. If you want, I
16:05
Speaker 1: asked a GM yesterday. I said, give it me give
16:06
Speaker 1: me the two days Edger and James is v Jon Robinson,
16:09
Speaker 1: which is like an awesome Hall of Fame running back,
16:12
Speaker 1: and Jamal Charles is Jamiir Gibbs. So that's classic take,
16:16
Speaker 1: but like two basically tame, two different positions all together.
16:20
Speaker 1: And if the Giants added Jamiir Gibbs and got somehow
16:24
Speaker 1: Sequon to play this year under the con I mean
16:27
Speaker 1: that's fun. Those are my two running backs. I don't
16:29
Speaker 1: think a third is taken. I've seen a lot of
16:32
Speaker 1: people say that there will be one taken, and it'll
16:34
Speaker 1: be you know, and gives the reach. I think he
16:36
Speaker 1: goes in the first number three. I've heard from everyone
16:53
Speaker 1: that there is no stud receiver in this draft. There
16:56
Speaker 1: is no Calvin Johnson, there's no Jamar Chase.
17:00
Speaker 2: You know.
17:01
Speaker 1: Even last year those guys were guess what three receivers
17:05
Speaker 1: are going to go? And that will in a twenty range.
17:08
Speaker 1: Jackson Smith Njigba has gotten a lot of love. I've
17:11
Speaker 1: was on the phone with all these gms last night.
17:14
Speaker 1: They all say, to a man, these guys aren't gonna
17:17
Speaker 1: last past the twenties. And there's three of them. Jackson
17:19
Speaker 1: Smithnjigba Jordan Addison. All right, if you're listening to this
17:23
Speaker 1: podcast tomorrow when something crazy happens and Jordan Addison is
17:28
Speaker 1: either taken like eleventh overall by the Titans or a
17:31
Speaker 1: team trades up and takes them twelfth overall, and you're googling,
17:34
Speaker 1: who the hell is Jordan Adison? I have not seen
17:36
Speaker 1: that name. I think no player has a delta of
17:40
Speaker 1: amount of teams that view this guy in a certain way,
17:42
Speaker 1: as opposed to how the national media has talked about
17:45
Speaker 1: in the mock drafts and all the thing. I've see
17:46
Speaker 1: Addison falling out of the first round in some of
17:47
Speaker 1: these mock drafts, going late first, I think Addison doesn't
17:50
Speaker 1: doesn't leave the top twenty. And I also think Zay
17:52
Speaker 1: Flowers goes in the top twenty. So I think all
17:55
Speaker 1: three of those guys go in the top twenty. In
17:58
Speaker 1: my mock draft. I've got Smith Nijigba going thirteen to
18:04
Speaker 1: the Green Bay Packers, Zave Flowers fourteen to the Patriots.
18:07
Speaker 1: Oh Patriots. I've gotten a lot of intel the Patriots
18:11
Speaker 1: like any points, and I don't think I'm the Belichick
18:18
Speaker 1: is considered the king in that building. Robert Craft wants
18:20
Speaker 1: an actually does not like being irrelevant and doesn't like
18:22
Speaker 1: being mediocre. So Zay Flowers local product. One of thirteen.
18:27
Speaker 2: He has thirteen siblings. He is one of fourteen.
18:30
Speaker 1: One of fourteen. I think he's the eleventh. I believe fourteen. Yes,
18:36
Speaker 1: Fort Lauderdale guy who played at BC had a chance
18:38
Speaker 1: to transfer state at BC, like was their entire offense.
18:41
Speaker 1: Awesome guy, great kid. We had him on the Good
18:43
Speaker 1: Morning Football Show. I think he goes fourteen to the Patriots,
18:46
Speaker 1: and then Addison's your wild card. I'm talking right after
18:49
Speaker 1: like ten. Addison could go anywhere from twelve to the
18:52
Speaker 1: Texans or I have him currently in a weird trade
18:57
Speaker 1: and I'll explain to my mock draft, but I've got
18:59
Speaker 1: him actually going to the Houston Texans. But with the
19:01
Speaker 1: twentieth pick, I know, I kind of cheated a little bit,
19:04
Speaker 1: and I'm like, I don't know where to put Anthony rich
19:06
Speaker 1: but I want them on Seattle, so I'm gonna have
19:08
Speaker 1: them trade up to twelve from twenty and then just
19:10
Speaker 1: be like, well, that's a fake trade that I made up.
19:13
Speaker 1: It was kind of cheating, but I think the Texans
19:16
Speaker 1: might need a receiver as much as they need a
19:18
Speaker 1: quarterback in this draft, and Addison is going to go
19:23
Speaker 1: somewhere in the top twenty. There's a bunch of teams
19:26
Speaker 1: from like twenty to thirty. I'd say twenty to fifty
19:30
Speaker 1: ars because he also the Dolphins in the rams, Like,
19:32
Speaker 1: there's all these teams that like Addison, not tying them
19:36
Speaker 1: to either one of those teams. It's kind of like
19:38
Speaker 1: the cutoff point. You've got these three receivers and there
19:41
Speaker 1: it might be a bit of a dip. And then
19:42
Speaker 1: it's guys like Jalen Hyatt and Quentin Johnson. So if
19:45
Speaker 1: a team wants a receiver, you might have to go
19:47
Speaker 1: up and get them. So I would say this, Jordan
19:49
Speaker 1: Addison is an interesting prospect in tomorrow's draft. Keep an
19:52
Speaker 1: eye on him either A going really early or b
19:56
Speaker 1: one of the teams in the twenties. You know who
19:58
Speaker 1: needs a receiver, whether it's Kansas City or whether it's
20:01
Speaker 1: Buffalo moving up to go get Jordan Addison. Have we
20:05
Speaker 1: spoken enough about Jordan Addam.
20:06
Speaker 2: I mean, you know, I'm as a Bills fan, I'm
20:09
Speaker 2: kind of hoping that you want that he winds up there.
20:12
Speaker 2: I know that I'm trying to be impartial about it.
20:14
Speaker 2: So we can move on from Jordan Adison if you want.
20:16
Speaker 2: But if they take them, we'll talk about them next week.
20:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, all right. Next thing I had as my
20:21
Speaker 1: fourth point, more about the Eagles, but just so I
20:26
Speaker 1: talked to folks in that building, and we've had Jamal Singleton,
20:29
Speaker 1: their running backs coach, on we'll get more. I just
20:33
Speaker 1: think they do things in a really unique way in
20:37
Speaker 1: that they don't just talk the talk, they walk the walk.
20:42
Speaker 1: They build from the inside out, and they really value
20:45
Speaker 1: their offensive line and defensive line. And this draft the
20:48
Speaker 1: way it's trickling, I think one of those big offensive
20:51
Speaker 1: linemen is going to be there, and I'll put Broderick
20:53
Speaker 1: Jones in the same conversation with Paris Johnson and Scaronsky.
20:59
Speaker 1: I gave him Scoronsky. Look, if it ends up being Bijon, great,
21:05
Speaker 1: If it ends up being one of the pass rushers
21:08
Speaker 1: and Jalen Carter still on the board, or they go
21:10
Speaker 1: and they get Nolan Smith, and so they get one
21:12
Speaker 1: of the corners like they've done all that in the past,
21:13
Speaker 1: they've done they draft I just with the age on
21:16
Speaker 1: that offensive line and with some movement going on, and
21:19
Speaker 1: they didn't address it in free agency. I'm going offensive
21:22
Speaker 1: line for the Eagles, and then they have the thirtieth pick,
21:25
Speaker 1: and I have them going a corner with the thirtieth pick.
21:28
Speaker 1: I have him taken Joey Porter Junior, who's that's a
21:30
Speaker 1: little later than most people have him going. Oh, people
21:32
Speaker 1: have him going into teens in the early twenties. Again,
21:35
Speaker 1: it's semantics. Just the way my draft worked out. I
21:37
Speaker 1: have nothing against him. I have Joey Porter Junior and
21:41
Speaker 1: Peter Scarnsky, two big ten players, one of them a corner,
21:45
Speaker 1: one of them a giant offensive tackle, are offensive guard
21:50
Speaker 1: going to the Eagles. So Eagles fans no running back
21:54
Speaker 1: but a corner and a big lineman, and they continue
21:57
Speaker 1: just to load up at positions of strength. Number five,
22:01
Speaker 1: I think the Lions are going Devin Witherspoon at six,
22:05
Speaker 1: and that's even if Tyree Wilson or Jalen Carter or
22:10
Speaker 1: one of the quarterbacks is on the board. I the
22:13
Speaker 1: more I talk to people around the league, and again
22:15
Speaker 1: I have to preface it with this, teams don't tell
22:18
Speaker 1: me who they're taking, but they sort of have friends
22:20
Speaker 1: who work at those teams and they go on the
22:22
Speaker 1: Pro day visits and they're all there and there's like,
22:25
Speaker 1: it's not group think, but if a team really likes
22:28
Speaker 1: a player, it can get out. When you've got fifty
22:30
Speaker 1: people in a building and the draft room comes out, Now,
22:33
Speaker 1: do we know who they're going to take?
22:34
Speaker 2: No.
22:34
Speaker 1: Usually the GM and the head coach will keep that
22:36
Speaker 1: close to the vest. The owner usually has an input.
22:38
Speaker 1: But I keep on hearing Weatherspoon at six to the Lions,
22:42
Speaker 1: which would be interesting. He's one hundred and eighty pounds,
22:44
Speaker 1: didn't play a ton of football as a kid. I
22:46
Speaker 1: think he started playing when he was a junior in
22:48
Speaker 1: high school. But he tackles, he's tough, and someone said
22:53
Speaker 1: he's like, he's Aaron Glenn two point oh. Aaron Glen's
22:54
Speaker 1: our defensive coordinator. And Dan Campbell like those guys. They
22:57
Speaker 1: want tough, hard nosed. They just traded away Jeff Akuda,
23:00
Speaker 1: who is a former third overall pick from a previous regime.
23:05
Speaker 1: I think there's a chance that Tyree Wilson or Jalen
23:08
Speaker 1: Carter is there. I think there's a chance one of
23:10
Speaker 1: the top quarterbacks is there. And I still think they'll
23:13
Speaker 1: just kind of say, let's go with Weatherspoon. So tomorrow
23:16
Speaker 1: if they don't go Wetherspoon, consider me surprised. That's just
23:19
Speaker 1: the read I get from everyone around the league. Number six,
23:22
Speaker 1: I think we definitely have two tight ends going in
23:25
Speaker 1: this first round, and they're very different. Dalton Kincaid has
23:29
Speaker 1: a lot of fans in this league. He's not a
23:31
Speaker 1: big blocking tight end. He is a receiving tight end,
23:34
Speaker 1: but like an athletic freak. If you're giving like the
23:38
Speaker 1: greatest compliments to guys, he's your Kelsey, all right. And
23:42
Speaker 1: the other guy's Michael Mayer at a Notre Dame and
23:46
Speaker 1: oh if you're giving a conduct comp to him, like
23:48
Speaker 1: I know, this isn't as great as that, but he's
23:50
Speaker 1: your Heath Miller where it's like great blocker catches reliable,
23:55
Speaker 1: you know exactly where's me. He's from Notre Dame. You
23:57
Speaker 1: could plug him right away. Those two guys are definitely
23:59
Speaker 1: gonna go. I don't think Darnell Washington, the tight end
24:03
Speaker 1: from Georgia, is gonna go in the first round. I've
24:04
Speaker 1: seen him go in a lot of places. I do
24:08
Speaker 1: think there's a guy out of Iowa named Sam Laporta,
24:12
Speaker 1: and I've heard he's got a lot of fans at
24:14
Speaker 1: the end of the first round. So if Dallas or
24:17
Speaker 1: New Orleans are two teams to watch. Again, this is
24:20
Speaker 1: deep cut NFL draft stuff. If you are running on
24:22
Speaker 1: a treadmill right now and you're like, uh, okay, I
24:25
Speaker 1: think I'm drafted out. When we're talking about Sam Laporta
24:27
Speaker 1: draft stock, but don't be shocked if he goes in
24:29
Speaker 1: the first round or very early in the second. I'd
24:31
Speaker 1: say there's a seventy percent chance he has taken at
24:34
Speaker 1: the end of the first round. Sam Laporta, who Aaron
24:38
Speaker 1: comes out of Iowa and those guys. It's George Kittle,
24:41
Speaker 1: it's obviously daw White Clark, it's Noah Fan, It's Hockinson.
24:46
Speaker 1: Like there's just one after another, after another after another,
24:49
Speaker 1: and he's the next one.
24:50
Speaker 2: This is a great tight end class.
24:52
Speaker 1: It's a great tight end.
24:54
Speaker 2: Lots of weapons, lots of good blocking options. And I
24:57
Speaker 2: think that's the fun thing about Kinkaid and Mayor. Kincaid
25:00
Speaker 2: is like such a pass catching option and so he's
25:06
Speaker 2: not the as Michael Mayor for whoever is this Yeah,
25:08
Speaker 2: which is a fun thing.
25:10
Speaker 1: I've got. If you're listening at home and you're looking
25:12
Speaker 1: like Okay, well, where Washington going with Kinkaid. I thought
25:15
Speaker 1: Washington could be in the market for a quarterback, especially
25:17
Speaker 1: if Hendon Hooker like started slipping. I was told that
25:19
Speaker 1: they are all in on Sam Howell, who was a
25:22
Speaker 1: fifth round pick last year, but like, they're not looking
25:24
Speaker 1: at it, and I thought, okay, well, new owner probably
25:28
Speaker 1: coming in. Maybe you buy yourself some time you draft
25:30
Speaker 1: a quarterback, you say, well, we've got this quarterback, we're
25:33
Speaker 1: groom and give us a chance. No, I heard they
25:35
Speaker 1: like Howell, so give him another weapon. Dal Kin Kid
25:37
Speaker 1: at sixteen. Then Mayor. I know the it is true
25:42
Speaker 1: that the Giants like Mayor. I know it's very true
25:45
Speaker 1: the Cowboys like Mayor. If he's there for either one
25:47
Speaker 1: of those teams, I think he might be the pick.
25:49
Speaker 1: But I think he's gone by then. I've got the
25:51
Speaker 1: Los Angeles Chargers taking Michael Mayer at twenty one, justin
25:55
Speaker 1: Herbert gets another guy, so tight end those two names.
26:00
Speaker 1: Enjoy that. I think I think they'll both go in
26:02
Speaker 1: the first round, and they both will go in the
26:03
Speaker 1: top twenty five.
26:05
Speaker 2: It would be really fun if if the Commanders took
26:08
Speaker 2: Kincaid yep with Eric the enemy. Yeah, from Kelse. I mean,
26:13
Speaker 2: like that would just be a fun thing to start
26:15
Speaker 2: thinking about Dick.
26:17
Speaker 1: I like that. That's good. Number seven Miles Murphy out
26:22
Speaker 1: of Clemson. I have not seen him in many top twenties.
26:26
Speaker 1: He was a guy that I think everyone was excited
26:28
Speaker 1: to see at the Combine and kind of faded off
26:31
Speaker 1: a little bit. I've heard now Miles Murphy's got a
26:33
Speaker 1: ton of buzz. This is how the NFL draft goes.
26:35
Speaker 1: You finished a college season, everyone's like Miles Murphy, Miles Murphy,
26:37
Speaker 1: Miles Murphy, Clemson studies in these huge games, and then
26:41
Speaker 1: everyone else hypes up everyone else, and then we all
26:43
Speaker 1: get into a tissy about these guys we didn't watch
26:45
Speaker 1: in college who are at smaller schools, and then by
26:47
Speaker 1: the end of time the draft comes in, It's like, oh,
26:49
Speaker 1: Miles Murphy's gonna go higher than everyone's talking about. So
26:52
Speaker 1: I have him going in the top twenty in my
26:54
Speaker 1: mock draft. I've heard he can go as high as
26:57
Speaker 1: thirteen to Green Bay. I think he ends up going
27:00
Speaker 1: around eighteen to Detroit if they keep their pick. Detroit
27:04
Speaker 1: could be a trade back team. In my mock draft,
27:07
Speaker 1: I have Miles Murphy going eighteen. I think he's a
27:11
Speaker 1: first round pick. I think he might be a top
27:12
Speaker 1: twenty pick. I think he might go before Nolan Smith,
27:15
Speaker 1: who everyone fell in love with, but is at the
27:18
Speaker 1: end of the day, it's two hundred and thirty pounds
27:20
Speaker 1: and it's hard to look at a pass rusher or
27:22
Speaker 1: twitter and thirty pounds. Even if some of these guys
27:25
Speaker 1: like a Son Reddick were having such great success, I
27:27
Speaker 1: think your more traditional pass rusher is Miles Murphy, and
27:30
Speaker 1: I think he might get taken before the New York Jets.
27:33
Speaker 1: I have spoken to people that I trusted the New
27:35
Speaker 1: York Jets. They are over the moon right now about
27:39
Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers. Today was the press conference, and I talked
27:42
Speaker 1: to all those guys and it's, you know, draft unrelated.
27:46
Speaker 1: It's so secondary right now. When I was texting him,
27:48
Speaker 1: but spoke to Hackett, spoke to Sala, texted both of
27:52
Speaker 1: those guys. Didn't get him on the phone. They're like,
27:54
Speaker 1: it was just awesome. Today was awesome, Like everyone was
27:56
Speaker 1: excited and it's maybe the best day they're going to
27:59
Speaker 1: have as now you have to actually do something and
28:01
Speaker 1: go in But like the press conference amazing, And I
28:03
Speaker 1: thought Rogers absolutely won the press conference. I wanted to
28:06
Speaker 1: get in the stuff they weren't looking to text about that.
28:08
Speaker 1: They kind of clammed up. But I would say for
28:11
Speaker 1: the Jets, if Jackson Smith Najigba is there at fifteen,
28:17
Speaker 1: that's a real possibility. If one of these three players
28:20
Speaker 1: is there, if they Scaransky somehow falls, if Broderick Jones
28:24
Speaker 1: from Georgia somehow falls, or if Paris Johnson somehow falls,
28:27
Speaker 1: I think that would be the pick. I don't think
28:29
Speaker 1: they go Darnell right from Tennessee. I don't think they
28:33
Speaker 1: reach on another offensive lineman. So the name that I'm
28:37
Speaker 1: putting down with them, and it doesn't obviously come straight
28:40
Speaker 1: from them, but just knowing what they're trying to build there,
28:43
Speaker 1: I gave them Lucas van Ness, who's like this like
28:47
Speaker 1: thor of a pass rusher out of Iowa. We talked
28:50
Speaker 1: about him with Joel Klatt. He's a big ten guy,
28:54
Speaker 1: didn't start a single game at Iowa, but was kind
28:56
Speaker 1: of like the sixth man. I would almost say, like
28:58
Speaker 1: just would always get in and then play the rest
29:00
Speaker 1: of the game. I've got him going fifteenth over all
29:03
Speaker 1: of the Jets, adding to a really good defense. If
29:06
Speaker 1: he goes later than that. He goes later than that.
29:08
Speaker 1: But I think van Ness is a really intriguing prospect
29:10
Speaker 1: and he could go to the Patriots at fourteen also,
29:13
Speaker 1: So that's about his area right there. Jets fans don't
29:16
Speaker 1: freak out if they don't take a tackle. There might
29:18
Speaker 1: not be a tackle worthy of the fifteenth overall pick.
29:20
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, by the way, Jets get trade back to
29:23
Speaker 1: Jets get trade back. That could be a boring night
29:24
Speaker 1: for Jets fans where they get all excited and it's
29:26
Speaker 1: like they Jets have traded the pick. I could see
29:29
Speaker 1: that if none of their top guys are on the board,
29:31
Speaker 1: they got a pretty good player. On Thursday, they're pretty
29:34
Speaker 1: excited about number nine. I think one of the cool
29:36
Speaker 1: things if you're watching at home, a lot of young
29:41
Speaker 1: new gms are at the Helm here. So we've got
29:44
Speaker 1: a guy in Arizona, Monty astin Ford has the third
29:48
Speaker 1: overall pick. And I don't know if this is fact
29:52
Speaker 1: or fiction or whatever, but you're probably not supposed to
29:55
Speaker 1: tell the world that you want to trade the pick,
29:56
Speaker 1: and Arizona has done that, and they've told everybody in
29:59
Speaker 1: the league like we're open for business. What do you
30:01
Speaker 1: want for the third overall pick. I don't know if
30:02
Speaker 1: they lost their leverage with it, but they just need players,
30:04
Speaker 1: players and players. And you know everyone is laughing because
30:08
Speaker 1: it's like, all right, well, who's trading up for that
30:11
Speaker 1: third pick? Does anyone really want c J. Stroud? Does
30:14
Speaker 1: anyone really want Will Levis? Does anyone really want Anthony
30:17
Speaker 1: Richardson so badly that they would trade up? In my mock,
30:20
Speaker 1: I have another young, first year GM trading up, and
30:24
Speaker 1: that's Ran Carthon from the Tennessee Titans. But Aaron, I'll
30:27
Speaker 1: be honest. I know Ran. I've known him when he
30:30
Speaker 1: was with the Niners. We've texted a bunch. I have
30:33
Speaker 1: no idea what his tendency is as a general manager.
30:36
Speaker 1: I also know Mike Rabel's got a really loud voice
30:38
Speaker 1: in that building, and I don't know if Ran Carthon
30:41
Speaker 1: has the They only have six picks, so I don't
30:44
Speaker 1: know if they can actually go up there, what they
30:45
Speaker 1: can offer and whether that makes sense for a team
30:47
Speaker 1: that has so many needs. But I have the Tennessee
30:50
Speaker 1: Titans moving up to three, giving up their eleventh pick,
30:56
Speaker 1: their forty first pick, and a Day two pick or
30:59
Speaker 1: a day three pick to go get c J. Stroud
31:02
Speaker 1: and the connection there is a Manti. Austin Fort worked
31:05
Speaker 1: in Tennessee with the Titans and Verbel so there's a
31:09
Speaker 1: familiarity there. Tannehill has basically one year left on that
31:12
Speaker 1: contract and then he'll know he'll be done and let's
31:16
Speaker 1: hand it over. Malik Willis was not the answer. If
31:18
Speaker 1: you remember Week eighteen last year, they had to go
31:21
Speaker 1: sign Josh Dobbs off the street to play in the
31:22
Speaker 1: biggest game of the season almost one and then the
31:26
Speaker 1: last part of it is Mike Rabel's an Ohio State guy.
31:30
Speaker 1: Ryan Day, the head coach of Ohio State, and Mike
31:32
Speaker 1: Rabel are very tight. Ryan Day, as Joe Klatt told
31:35
Speaker 1: us last week, Ryan Day has been talking up CJ.
31:39
Speaker 1: Stroud and it's been his biggest champion. Look, I don't
31:42
Speaker 1: know if this is going to happen, but I find
31:45
Speaker 1: it interesting that you have young gms who have not
31:47
Speaker 1: done it many times before. So the other team that
31:49
Speaker 1: needs a quarterback eventually is Minnesota. Quesci Adolpho Mensa is
31:55
Speaker 1: the GM. It's his second year. Last year he traded back.
31:59
Speaker 1: This year, does he trade up and get one of
32:02
Speaker 1: these quarterbacks, Does he trade back? Does he We don't know.
32:05
Speaker 1: There's not a long track record. And Kirk Cousins is
32:07
Speaker 1: a similar deal as Tannehill, which means he's got basically
32:10
Speaker 1: one year left and then it's what's going on in
32:13
Speaker 1: the future? Are we giving you another contract? So I
32:15
Speaker 1: find out really cool. There's young new Ish gms and
32:19
Speaker 1: some real pressure points in this draft, and I think
32:22
Speaker 1: they're gonna end up being the key players in this draft.
32:24
Speaker 1: And I'm curious if anyone moves up to three. If not,
32:28
Speaker 1: you get a really good player and Will Anderson or
32:30
Speaker 1: Tyree Wilson, whoever's sitting there, and you could also take
32:33
Speaker 1: the offensive tackle. I don't think anyone would have a
32:34
Speaker 1: problem if they took Paris Johnson and you're like, what
32:37
Speaker 1: do you mean you took Paris Johnson. Guess what, He's
32:39
Speaker 1: a top rated tackle in the draft. And Kyler Murray's
32:41
Speaker 1: been running around with his head cut off, all right,
32:43
Speaker 1: So that's another point. Young gms holding the keys and
32:47
Speaker 1: could be really interesting. And number ten, we will not
33:03
Speaker 1: know who the Houston Texans are taking, if they are trading,
33:06
Speaker 1: they are going quarterback, if they are going defense, until
33:09
Speaker 1: the final whistle. Can I should have started this thing
33:12
Speaker 1: with a PSA. Can I tell you what I like
33:15
Speaker 1: to do draft night? Now? I'm on the phones all
33:18
Speaker 1: day leading up to it, and I've been kind of
33:21
Speaker 1: what's the word with you about drafting? I'm like, not
33:23
Speaker 1: a draft. I can't. I can't be doing a pot
33:25
Speaker 1: during the draft. I won't to do a live pod.
33:26
Speaker 1: I want advantage. I go into airplane mode during the draft.
33:30
Speaker 1: I turn my phone off, I turn Twitter off, and
33:34
Speaker 1: I enjoy it like a fan, and I take my
33:36
Speaker 1: own notes because the next morning I gotta talk about
33:39
Speaker 1: it, and I'm good Morning football. I love the draft. It's
33:41
Speaker 1: the greatest reality TV show in the world. Why would
33:43
Speaker 1: anyone want to check Twitter and have Albert Breer or
33:45
Speaker 1: Jason lockin for a spoil a pick for it's announced.
33:48
Speaker 1: I don't get it. I understand why those guys do it.
33:53
Speaker 1: It's their job as reporters, and they don't work for
33:55
Speaker 1: the NFL. I truly as a PSA. I am begging
33:58
Speaker 1: everyone at home who's listening to this as we head
34:00
Speaker 1: towards the draft in a couple hours, turn off Twitter tonight.
34:06
Speaker 1: Don't text your friends until after your team's picking. Enjoy
34:09
Speaker 1: this like it's a reality TV show. I work on
34:12
Speaker 1: the draft. I do it on Thursday in the morning,
34:16
Speaker 1: and then on Friday I will be on and on
34:18
Speaker 1: Saturday mon all day. Here's how it works. The league
34:22
Speaker 1: has the picks and they get funneled through and the
34:25
Speaker 1: players know about probably about four or five minutes before
34:30
Speaker 1: it's announced a lot of times, and then they have
34:33
Speaker 1: to give the envelope and the album. In that time,
34:36
Speaker 1: work can leak, the agent can sail a reporter. I
34:39
Speaker 1: could text the team who you take in. They'll say, okay,
34:40
Speaker 1: we just put the card in. We're taking Jalen Hyatt go.
34:43
Speaker 1: You know, like, what is the joy if you're a
34:47
Speaker 1: consumer of this event to find it out before the
34:50
Speaker 1: pick is announced. I am begging you just try it.
34:53
Speaker 1: Go back ten years, go back fifteen years. Try to
34:56
Speaker 1: live life before there was a second screen. Before you
34:58
Speaker 1: sat on your phone while you're talking to someone at dinner,
35:01
Speaker 1: and I'm begging you put the phone away, hang out
35:03
Speaker 1: with your friends, do everything in person, whatever, or just
35:05
Speaker 1: watch it alone. I watch a loone. I love it.
35:07
Speaker 1: I think it's great, and I beg of you to
35:11
Speaker 1: do it, at least for the second pick in the draft.
35:13
Speaker 1: Don't it's great at suspense. This is a billion dollar
35:17
Speaker 1: industry with a lot of people who are paid a
35:19
Speaker 1: lot of money to crack the code of who the
35:21
Speaker 1: Houston Texans are taking at two overall and we are
35:23
Speaker 1: twenty four hours out right now from the selection and
35:26
Speaker 1: no one knows. I think that's awesome. I think that's great.
35:30
Speaker 1: So why spoil it? Why a minute beforehand? Find it
35:34
Speaker 1: out from some random guy on Twitter who just found
35:36
Speaker 1: it out because he texted an agent, And no, don't
35:39
Speaker 1: put your phone away. Enjoy it. I do it for
35:42
Speaker 1: the entire first round. I'm not taking any great pride
35:44
Speaker 1: in this. It sounds ridiculous that I would do that
35:46
Speaker 1: as an NFL insider and not respond to text or anything.
35:50
Speaker 1: Is my one night. I like to enjoy it. And
35:51
Speaker 1: then Friday and Saturday I'm hardcore and I'm texting everyone
35:54
Speaker 1: and I'm tweeting everything, and I get it. But my
35:57
Speaker 1: big point number ten, no one knows what Houston's doing.
36:01
Speaker 1: If they tell you they know what Houston's doing, they're
36:03
Speaker 1: lying to you. And then twelve overall is Houston also,
36:05
Speaker 1: and no one knows what Houston's doing there. If I
36:07
Speaker 1: tell you they know what they're doing. They're lying to you.
36:09
Speaker 1: I had to go back and forth thirty times on this.
36:12
Speaker 1: Here's how I netted out two. At the end of
36:15
Speaker 1: the day, they end up taking Will Anderson, who is like,
36:18
Speaker 1: you're O. The sound so insulting. It's like if Tyree
36:22
Speaker 1: Wilson is a home run. I was told this guy's
36:25
Speaker 1: like a standing double. Like, you got to this guy.
36:29
Speaker 1: He'll get you eight to ten sacks. He's solid, a
36:33
Speaker 1: plus human off the field, no health concerns. Nick Saban's
36:36
Speaker 1: favorite player, Like Houston Texans, if they don't love a
36:40
Speaker 1: quarterback at two, don't reach, don't take one, don't convince yourselves,
36:45
Speaker 1: go take that player. So I got Will Anderson. Then
36:47
Speaker 1: I'm like, I gotta give an a quarterback. I gotta get
36:48
Speaker 1: him a quarterback. And then I'm like, I don't know
36:51
Speaker 1: if they want to settle for the third or fourth
36:53
Speaker 1: quarterback on the board. When they take a quarterback, that
36:56
Speaker 1: means that's their guy for the next few years. If
36:57
Speaker 1: they're passing on him on two, are they're really going
36:59
Speaker 1: to take him at twelve? So I have him trading
37:02
Speaker 1: back in Seattle, jumping up from twenty to twelve to
37:05
Speaker 1: get Anthony Richardson, because I know Seattle really likes Anthony
37:08
Speaker 1: Richardson and Shane Waldron's offense would be a dream for
37:11
Speaker 1: a guy like Anthony Richardson, and he can wait a
37:13
Speaker 1: year in or Gino. It's a perfect situation if they
37:16
Speaker 1: took If Seattle took Anthony Richardson at five, I wouldn't.
37:19
Speaker 1: I wouldn blank. Yeah, that makes sense. But they get
37:21
Speaker 1: Jalen Carter and Anthony Richardson. They trade a bunch of
37:24
Speaker 1: crap to get up to twelve, and then at twenty,
37:27
Speaker 1: I have the Textans taking Jordan Addison, a wide receiver,
37:29
Speaker 1: and it's like, all right, we got a defensive end
37:32
Speaker 1: and a wide receiver. That's our number one wide out
37:34
Speaker 1: and our number one defensive end, and we'll attack the
37:37
Speaker 1: draft from here. But I do not have the Texans
37:40
Speaker 1: taking a quarterback tomorrow, and I have no idea if
37:45
Speaker 1: that's right. I'm telling you everyone, I'm begging you. I'm
37:47
Speaker 1: telling you it's just so great. Don't go on Twitter
37:49
Speaker 1: during the draft. Just watch it. I'm telling you, it's
37:52
Speaker 1: such a fun experience if you just watch it without
37:54
Speaker 1: knowing the answers. I don't do you, how do you watch?
37:57
Speaker 2: I love that, but how do you watch the past
37:59
Speaker 2: two three years? I guess, especially with pandemic. I have
38:03
Speaker 2: some friends and we will stream it and we'll be
38:05
Speaker 2: on a zoom call talk about that's cool, and I'm
38:07
Speaker 2: texting one of my dad one of them. For whatever reason,
38:10
Speaker 2: I always have the slowest stream So even like when
38:13
Speaker 2: my dad and I will watch Bills games and he's
38:15
Speaker 2: watching on.
38:15
Speaker 1: TV, what happened to yeah?
38:17
Speaker 2: And he's like nice, nice catch good, And I'm like,
38:20
Speaker 2: I'm three plays behind you. I have no idea what
38:23
Speaker 2: you're talking about. And now I know that they score
38:25
Speaker 2: a touchdown on this drive, or I know there's an
38:27
Speaker 2: interception or something. So yeah, but I have I do
38:30
Speaker 2: a lot because a lot of my friends that our
38:33
Speaker 2: big football fans are not in New York with me. Yep,
38:36
Speaker 2: I watch and we're texting throughout or we're face timing
38:39
Speaker 2: throughout all. Yeah. I love all that.
38:42
Speaker 1: Just shut down Twitter.
38:43
Speaker 2: I love that.
38:43
Speaker 1: Don't let the answers be still. Now if they text
38:45
Speaker 1: you and say, oh I heard it, ignore it. I'm
38:47
Speaker 1: checking my at mentions because I asked if anyone has
38:49
Speaker 1: any questions.
38:50
Speaker 2: Oh, draft questions?
38:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but all they're doing.
38:54
Speaker 2: Is talking about the man.
38:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, because I put I put a photo of the
38:58
Speaker 1: Z Man. So here we go. Wow, we've got to
39:01
Speaker 1: take I'm gonna read some tweets.
39:03
Speaker 2: Okay, awesome.
39:04
Speaker 1: This is from andrew S crick Enjoy and welcome. Don't
39:08
Speaker 1: let Joe kc monopolize your barbecue time, though many would
39:13
Speaker 1: argue that Joe's is great, but who is the best
39:15
Speaker 1: or even in the top five barbecue joints is always
39:18
Speaker 1: debated in Kansas City. Also, there are many restaurants in
39:22
Speaker 1: other genres too, so very formless is like Rick Steves
39:26
Speaker 1: wrote this one Good Eats in Kansas City Galore Q
39:31
Speaker 1: thirty nine would be my suggestion.
39:34
Speaker 2: Okay, and that is one that you called out before too.
39:37
Speaker 1: Here's one from Kansas Man fifty five, which has an
39:39
Speaker 1: egg avatar burnt and Z Man best sandwich on Earth.
39:44
Speaker 1: Who's a player the Bengals would consider trading up for
39:46
Speaker 1: in round one? Don't see it. Don't see the Bengals
39:49
Speaker 1: wind to trade up all right? Here's last one. It's
39:53
Speaker 1: from Jimmy Crickets. Yo, you got the goat Kansas City
39:58
Speaker 1: the Z Man. Well, thank you, Jimminy crickets on that
40:02
Speaker 1: note early wake up for me tomorrow. I'll be up.
40:06
Speaker 1: You know, when I go on these remote shows, usually
40:08
Speaker 1: I've got my own routine at home. I like to
40:10
Speaker 1: get my big ice coffee. Like NFL Network has me
40:13
Speaker 1: up like four hours before the show. I'm like, for
40:15
Speaker 1: what what am I doing? You're like, I just want
40:17
Speaker 1: to make sure you're okay. And because I'm so nervous
40:19
Speaker 1: that one day when I like lash out and I'm like,
40:21
Speaker 1: I'm not waking up four hours early because you guys are,
40:25
Speaker 1: I'm gonna end up being late. So I'll I got
40:26
Speaker 1: to get up early early, and then I'm telling you
40:29
Speaker 1: I'm done. I do a couple things. I think I'm
40:31
Speaker 1: doing McAfee show tomorrow, and then I will go to
40:35
Speaker 1: my hotel room and I will turn on that TV
40:39
Speaker 1: NFL network coverage and I'll tell you one of the
40:41
Speaker 1: coolest things is when the Niners drafted Trey Lance. I
40:43
Speaker 1: found out when they announced the pick Trey Lance and
40:45
Speaker 1: it was over Mac Jones and I was ninety nine
40:47
Speaker 1: percent sure they were taking Mac Jones when it all
40:49
Speaker 1: came down and I was like genuinely surprised. It's a
40:52
Speaker 1: great feeling to be genuinely surprised about something. There's a
40:54
Speaker 1: million things that have happened the last few draft is
40:56
Speaker 1: how I do it. I am encouraging everyone to do it.
40:58
Speaker 1: And then you will wake up on Friday morning, put
41:03
Speaker 1: on Good Morning Football NFL Network. We're also on ESPN two.
41:05
Speaker 1: Their silly asking us this is like a crossover event.
41:08
Speaker 1: I'll be live here with all my reactions, and then
41:12
Speaker 1: Friday night I'll be on NFL Network. Mean, Ian Rappaporter
41:15
Speaker 1: are like something there, call him like the insider stage,
41:17
Speaker 1: which is very very cool. And then Saturday all day
41:21
Speaker 1: and the beating sun, I'll be wearing a suit and
41:23
Speaker 1: sweating this z man out literally for like eight hours.
41:27
Speaker 1: And it's myself, Rich Eyes and Charles Davis and the
41:32
Speaker 1: legend Daniel Jeremiah. And then if you recall, we had
41:35
Speaker 1: Daniel Jeremiah on a few days last week and we
41:39
Speaker 1: talked about our annual steak dinner. This is what we
41:41
Speaker 1: do again. I sound like an entitled prick. I just
41:45
Speaker 1: you know, here's what I do. I eat and I
41:47
Speaker 1: get to go and be on TV and all these things.
41:49
Speaker 1: Daniel and I have a tradition. First of all, Daniel
41:51
Speaker 1: does not drink. I don't think he drinks soda, and
41:54
Speaker 1: I don't think he curses. So there's me who's like
41:57
Speaker 1: this New Jersey trash, you know, like here's what I'm
42:01
Speaker 1: hearing on the streets. Daniel's got like he's on my age.
42:04
Speaker 1: I think he's got kids in college. I don't understand
42:06
Speaker 1: how that works. That's like, he's a West Coast guy.
42:08
Speaker 1: He's like just a whole different world that we come from,
42:10
Speaker 1: totally different backgrounds, and yet we merge. He's like a devout,
42:14
Speaker 1: great Christian father, and I'm like this Jewish guy from
42:18
Speaker 1: New York, and the two of us just completely we blend.
42:21
Speaker 1: And we have this steak dinner every year after the draft.
42:23
Speaker 1: We started it in Nashville. We did it, then in Cleveland,
42:27
Speaker 1: did it last year. As I said, over the Blaggio
42:29
Speaker 1: fountains at five point thirty, while the fountains were going
42:31
Speaker 1: up and people were coming by taking photos of us
42:33
Speaker 1: as if we were an engaged couple. I made the reservation.
42:38
Speaker 1: We just want to eat our steak in peace. But
42:40
Speaker 1: we're having it after the draft, and the two of
42:43
Speaker 1: us are going to dine like gentlemen, and then we
42:46
Speaker 1: are going to go home and we are going to
42:48
Speaker 1: take a long nap, and of course we will all
42:51
Speaker 1: recap the draft and we'll do a podcast on Monday,
42:54
Speaker 1: and then I think during the off season, I'm excited.
42:56
Speaker 1: We're going to view a bunch of gms, a bunch
42:58
Speaker 1: of coaches, bunch of celebrities. We've got a couple in
43:00
Speaker 1: the in the back pocket. I'm ready to get to
43:03
Speaker 1: but we had to devote the last few weeks to
43:04
Speaker 1: the draft. And if you're listening, thank you Aaron. Before
43:09
Speaker 1: we sign off. Do we dive into a second Z
43:11
Speaker 1: Man or are we good?
43:12
Speaker 2: Maybe a slow dive? I that all right? Well, you know,
43:17
Speaker 2: then I'll have two let's let's I might we'll see
43:22
Speaker 2: Thank you again. To Joe's Kansas City. You can follow
43:25
Speaker 2: them on Twitter at Joe's KC and if you are
43:30
Speaker 2: on Facebook, you can use uh facebook dot com slash
43:33
Speaker 2: Joe's k C BBQ. They're also on Instagram Joe's KC.
43:38
Speaker 2: And get the Ribs, get the Burneens, get the Z Man.
43:42
Speaker 1: Make sure you somehow get this clip on the podcast
43:45
Speaker 1: to them, can you cut it off and us just
43:47
Speaker 1: promoting this whole thing.
43:49
Speaker 2: Also, get the Mac and cheese. I don't even like
43:50
Speaker 2: mac and cheese, and that was good mac and cheese.
43:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I wasn't a huge mac and cheese fan.
43:55
Speaker 1: My son, I think primarily eats mac and cheese and
43:58
Speaker 1: it's like velveta, you know, craft whatever, and it's delicious.
44:03
Speaker 2: I just am not a positive.
44:05
Speaker 1: Person, the Aposta person, don't.
44:09
Speaker 2: That's a take in general, just not a posta person.
44:14
Speaker 1: On behalf of the great Aaron Wang Kaufman, on behalf
44:17
Speaker 1: of the NFL network and this fine setup on behalf
44:21
Speaker 1: of our guys Sean and Jason from iHeart who are
44:25
Speaker 1: also in the room texting away watching basketball, just chilling.
44:29
Speaker 1: Love it. I feel like we're at a party right now.
44:31
Speaker 1: Memphis is up on the Lakers, by the way, naturally,
44:34
Speaker 1: I'm a big Dylan Brooks fan. And on behalf of
44:37
Speaker 1: the guy who cranks out the music for us, Jackie Rudd.
44:41
Speaker 1: We love that dude, and all of you listening. This
44:43
Speaker 1: has been so fun, all right, guys, enjoy the draft.
44:48
Speaker 1: Jordan Addison, circle that name until next time. The Season
