Mathematical Abstraction, Part 7: Logic and Computability

Part seven of Mathematical Abstraction examines the rules beneath mathematical reasoning and computation. Languages, structures and definability distinguish what can be expressed from what can be proved, while completeness and compactness reveal surprising connections between syntax and truth. Computability and complexity then separate tasks that are possible from tasks that are feasible. SAT and the Cook–Levin theorem provide a meeting point for logic, algorithms and the limits of efficient computation.
