- 0:04Good morning. This is the Sacramento Brief, your
- 0:08weekday roundup of overnight headlines and what's
- 0:11ahead across the city. I'm Carol. It's Friday,
- 0:15December 19th, 2025. Let's get into the weekend.
- 0:20A Sacramento man has been arrested on charges
- 0:22of sexually assaulting a 13 year old girl. Deputies
- 0:25say the assault occurred during a sleepover in
- 0:28July when the suspect allegedly attacked the
- 0:30victim while she slept. The suspect fled the
- 0:33scene before deputies arrived, but an arrest
- 0:36warrant was obtained and the suspect was taken
- 0:39into custody this past Tuesday and booked into
- 0:43the Sacramento County Main Jail. This investigation
- 0:46remains ongoing. In City Watch, as the winter
- 0:51solstice hits December 21st, marking the longest
- 0:54night of the year, Sacramento County Department
- 0:56of Health Services is urging the communities
- 1:00to support neighbors most affected by the cold
- 1:02and wet weather. With weather respites activated
- 1:06countywide alongside first -step communities,
- 1:10donations are being accepted through January
- 1:125th at the Warren E. Thornton Center. High -need
- 1:16items include blankets, unopened hygiene products,
- 1:19winter clothing, socks, hats, gloves, and dog
- 1:22food. Men's clothing is especially needed. A
- 1:26separate food and clothing drive runs through
- 1:28January 1st, 2026, coordinated with Another Choice,
- 1:33Another Chance. Drop off non -perishable food
- 1:36and winter clothing at 700 Franklin Boulevard,
- 1:39Suite 200. And while that story highlights community
- 1:44care, the next one shows what persistence can
- 1:47do. When a Sacramento County senior struggled
- 1:50with dementia, financial abuse, and self -neglect,
- 1:52Adult Protective Services did not walk away.
- 1:56Social worker Careylee Oden and supervisor
- 1:59Amanda Benedickt spent more than a year coordinating
