about soccer, also called football in many parts of the
• 0:48
world. Tomorrow night, one of the
• 0:51
biggest soccer games of the year is happening, and we're going to
• 0:54
tell you all about it. Get ready to learn about some of
• 1:07
the greatest soccer players in the entire world who will be
• 1:10
playing right here in the United States tomorrow evening,
• 1:14
February 21st. The Inter Miami soccer team is
• 1:17
playing against the Los Angeles Football Club, also known as
• 1:21
LAFC. This is not just any regular
• 1:23
game, this is the opening game of the 2026 Major League Soccer
• 1:28
season and it is going to be absolutely huge.
• 1:32
The game will happen at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which
• 1:35
is a really historic and famous stadium in Los Angeles.
• 1:40
The match will kick off at 6:30 PM Pacific Time, which means if
• 1:44
you live on the East Coast, it will be 9:30 PM Eastern Time.
• 1:49
The game will be broadcast on Apple TV, so lots of people will
• 1:53
be able to watch it from home. Now here's the really cool part.
• 1:57
This game features some of the most famous soccer players in
• 2:00
the entire world. Inter Miami has Lionel Messi,
• 2:04
who many people consider to be one of the greatest soccer
• 2:07
players of all time. LAFC has Sun Hyung Min, who is a
• 2:11
superstar from South Korea and is also one of the biggest
• 2:15
signings in Major League Soccer history.
• 2:18
These two incredible players will be facing off against each
• 2:21
other on the same field. Can you imagine being there to
• 2:25
see that happen in person? But wait, there is more.
• 2:29
The game will also feature 3 World Cup captains playing at
• 2:32
the same time. A World Cup captain is someone
• 2:35
who led their country's team at the FIFA World Cup, which is the
• 2:39
biggest soccer tournament in the world.
• 2:41
Lionel Messi captained Argentina when they won the World Cup.
• 2:45
Sun Hyung Min captain South Korea at the World Cup and LAFC
• 2:50
has a goalkeeper named Loris who captain France and even won the
• 2:54
World Cup with France in 2018. That is absolutely incredible.
• 3:00
Having three World Cup captains on the field at the same time is
• 3:04
something you do not see very often.
• 3:06
The stadium where this game is happening is also really
• 3:10
  special. The Los Angeles Memorial
• 3:12
Coliseum is 102 years old, which means it was built way back in
• 3:16
1924. It is one of the oldest and
• 3:19
largest stadiums in the United States.
• 3:22
The organizers are expecting more than 60,000 people to show
• 3:25
up and watch this game in person.
• 3:28
That is a lot of fans cheering and having fun together.
• 3:31
The game is part of something new called the Walmart Saturday
• 3:34
Showdown, which is a brand new showcase broadcast that Major
• 3:38
League Soccer created to show off their biggest and most
• 3:41
exciting games. Inter Miami is the defending
• 3:44
champion of the MLS Cup, which means they won the championship
• 3:48
last year. That is a huge accomplishment.
• 3:52
The team won the championship just 2 1/2 months ago, so
• 3:55
they're still riding high from that victory.
• 3:58
However, Inter Miami made some big changes during the
• 4:01
offseason. 2 famous retired players Sergio Busquets and
• 4:06
Jordi Alba are no longer on the team.
• 4:08
New players like Yannick Bright, Reg Island, and German Berterem
• 4:12
have joined the team to replace them.
• 4:14
The big question everyone is asking is whether these new
• 4:18
players will work well together with the players who are already
• 4:21
on the team. LAFC has also made some changes
• 4:24
to their roster. They added midfielder Yustegrio,
• 4:27
who came to the team on loan from FC Porto in Portugal.
• 4:31
Yustegrio is a World Cup veteran and has even played in the UEFA
• 4:36
Champions League, which is the most important club soccer
• 4:39
competition in Europe. LAFC also added forwards named
• 4:43
Tyler Boyd and Shaffleburg. These new players are joining a
• 4:47
team that has been really successful over the last eight
• 4:50
years. In fact, LAFC has scored more
• 4:53
goals, won more games and earned more points than any other team
• 4:57
in Major League Soccer over the past eight years.
• 5:00
That is an amazing track record when these two teams have played
• 5:04
each other before. LAFC has won three times while
• 5:08
Inter Miami has won twice. Interestingly, all three of
• 5:12
laughs victories came by shutout, which means Inter Miami
• 5:15
did not score any goals in those games.
• 5:18
However, Inter Miami has been playing better recently.
• 5:22
Last year, Inter Miami beat LAFC 3 to 2 and an exciting comeback
• 5:27
  during the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
• 5:29
Messi scored some amazing plays in that game to help his team
• 5:33
win. Both teams are trying to win
• 5:35
multiple trophies this year. They are both competing in the
• 5:38
CONCACAF Champions Cup, which is a very important tournament.
• 5:43
LAFC already started their campaign by winning six to one
• 5:46
  against Real Espana and Honduras.
• 5:49
Inter Miami will begin their CONCACAF Champions Cup adventure
• 5:53
in March. This game tomorrow is going to
• 6:00
be incredible because it features world class players, a
• 6:04
historic stadium, and thousands of excited fans.
• 6:08
Whether you watch it on television or hear about it
• 6:10
later, you'll be learning about one of the most exciting moments
• 6:14
