Hill Fire Contained After Evacuations | Eureka News
A fast-moving Hill Fire near Cottonwood and Anderson is now under control—evacuation orders lifted, fire at 16.1 acres, 80% contained. Residents in zones COT-9520 and HAP-7490 were initially told to flee immediately as flames threatened structures, but by late afternoon, the threat eased enough to downgrade to warnings—and then fully lifted. Crews battled the blaze with aircraft and ground lines, though heat and communication issues added pressure. Now, it’s cooling down and officials say it’s one step from being fully contained.
