- 0:00Hey everyone, it's Simone and welcome back to I Was Thinking.
- 0:05Now, obviously, as you can tell by the title, this isn't a
- 0:09normal episode, nor is this one of the many episodes that I do
- 0:13or I've been trying to do in between like breaks we take in
- 0:17case none of us are available to record regular episodes.
- 0:22So this is more so like an announcement and I've only done
- 0:26this once at the very beginning when I was trying to stay
- 0:29consistent. So if you've been listening to
- 0:31us for a while, you do know sometimes unintentionally, we
- 0:35kind of like disappear for a month or two.
- 0:38I think the longest has been two months, but someone can correct
- 0:41me on that if I'm wrong. And then we'll come back to an
- 0:43episode, obviously, you know, saying we've been gone for a
- 0:46while. But this time I do actually want
- 0:49to announce a proper break and not just ghost y'all, because I
- 0:53think this break may be a little bit longer than the ones we'd
- 0:56normally take. There are many reasons for this
- 1:00break, first of all mine as well as Lala's.
- 1:04But mainly my job has become a lot more demanding in the past
- 1:10couple months with a lot of changes happening within that
- 1:13company. So I don't really have a lot of
- 1:16time to sit down and plan episodes and do the research and
- 1:20everything before we record, as well as like editing throughout
- 1:25the week like I used to. Honestly, it could be because of
- 1:28that job to mental health. Is this kind of been plummeting
- 1:34very badly? Not only just the job, but just
- 1:38everything that's happening in the world, you know,
- 1:41administration in America, the continue of genocide and killing
- 1:45people. A lot of shit is happening that
- 1:48we already know, but it just feels like it's not getting any
- 1:53better. And I'm usually one and one to
- 1:55try to stay hopeful, but it's just a lot and the sense of
- 1:59hopelessness is getting to me. And it's like to try to combat
- 2:04that. I've have tried to use this show
- 2:07not only for myself but just others who may need that hour to
- 2:11escape and just have some laughs, talk about our special
- 2:15interests. But even with that, it's just,
- 2:19and I know it's because of the state that I'm in, it's just not
- 2:22helping. So it's like there was also a
- 2:25point in the show where I feel like we were just coming on here
- 2:27and just talking about everything that's going on wrong
- 2:30with the world and not really weighs on a person, especially a
- 2:34person who just wants to fix everything and know as an
- 2:38individual she does not have the power.
- 2:40Like, I'm not Superman, so I can't just fly to places and
- 2:43just, you know, so I'm also trying to work on my physical
- 2:48health as well. I've tried to been as open as
- 2:51possible this year about, you know, the skin condition I have,
- 2:54which is hidradenitis suppurativa.
- 2:56And it just got really, really bad at the end of 2024.
- 3:01I'm just now kind of healing, I want to say.
- 3:05But even that I'm still limited in a lot of things I could do,
- 3:08especially mobile mobily mobility.
- 3:12Yeah. And physically, so I just, I
- 3:15need time to work on that as well.
- 3:18And you know, even with this show talking about my job
- 3:21earlier, it just won't say. It doesn't feel like it's fun
- 3:24anymore. It's just getting to a point for
- 3:27me where it's hard for me to want to figure out what I want
- 3:31to talk about on the show, like what direction we're going in.
- 3:34We don't really post weekly, so we can't talk about World News.
- 3:37But also World News always exhausts me.
- 3:40So I don't always want to be talking about World News.
- 3:44A lot of it I just find stupid. I'm just going to say it like
- 3:47there's just a lot of shit I see online and discussions where I'm
- 3:51just like, this is so fucking dumb.
- 3:54And we you know what, no, I'm not going to get into, I'm not
- 3:56going to get into it. But if you know, you know,
- 3:58especially if you're AK Pop said, you know, a lot of the
- 4:00conversations we have are just so benign.
- 4:03And I just, I don't want to be discussing that all the time,
- 4:07especially as a person who, yes, I listen to K Pop, but I've
- 4:12honestly really haven't been keeping up with like these newer
- 4:14groups like I was when I first got into it.
- 4:17So I don't feel like this, I want this to turn into like AK
- 4:21Pop podcast, especially since there's so many out there who
- 4:25are more dedicated, dedicated to that music genre than I am.
- 4:30And I like to talk about other things too, like what's
- 4:32happening in movies and the TV's and animation world.
- 4:37We also just need this time to kind of restructure the podcast
- 4:43and figure out the direction we want to go into.
- 4:46Like this isn't a goodbye. I'm not coming here to say this
- 4:49show is stopping completely. But we do just need time to
- 4:53figure out where we want to go with this show since me and Lala
- 4:57still want to do it. And I do have to thank Lala for
- 5:00wanting to come on and be my Co host because I mean obviously
- 5:04too, since I was going through all the medical things I was
- 5:06going through. But at the end of 2024, I was
- 5:09ready to just stop this. And you know, being the friend
- 5:13that she is, even though I haven't known her for the
- 5:15longest, but like I've really gotten close to her not wanting
- 5:20to see me give up on something she can tell I was really
- 5:22passionate about and willing to come on here and share her voice
- 5:26and her stories. I really appreciate that more
- 5:30than I can express. I mean, she already knows that I
- 5:31thank her everyday privately, but still I also want to thank
- 5:35the people that do listen to us and have been very supportive of
- 5:40us. I don't really give much
- 5:41feedback. So like I don't know how many
- 5:43people has like been listening to day one or like, you know the
- 5:46length you guys been listening to.
- 5:48I know since I've started this show, the stats have always
- 5:51showed me there is a pretty high audience, whether it's a few
- 5:56people or just one person like in Orlando, FL.
- 5:59And I don't live in Orlando, FL, so obviously it's not me.
- 6:02So like to the mystery person or people out there, thank you so
- 6:05much for being here for us and listening to us.
- 6:09And also a big shout out to Nevaeh, who what did meet
- 6:13through Shay's Discord, who is always commenting on Spotify on
- 6:19an episode, answering the questions we have, sharing our
- 6:22podcast, not only through, you know, her real life friends, but
- 6:26like sharing in this court as well and telling us like things
- 6:29she enjoyed. I really appreciate that.
- 6:31Like I know we always say thank you, but like you truly don't
- 6:34understand how much is having that actual feedback really
- 6:39means to me Because like I said, I was ready to give this up,
- 6:42just not thinking of it's going anywhere.
- 6:45Obviously we didn't turn into one of those podcasts where like
- 6:47we get ads and a big audience and all that.
- 6:50So I really do put in my own money and do this all my own
- 6:55free time because I enjoy doing it.
- 6:58And I was getting to a point it's like, is this even worth
- 7:01it? But like having you share your
- 7:03feedback and how much you enjoy hearing us talk has showed me it
- 7:07is worth it even if you are the only person who listens.
- 7:12So I just wanted to say thank you for that.
- 7:14And yeah, so I don't know how long this break is going to be,
- 7:17honestly, it could be up until 2026.
- 7:22Please continue to follow us on social media.
- 7:24I know we do have plans to like, continue the music Monday that
- 7:28we do on there. We do also have a plan to just
- 7:32kind of do throwback episodes, meaning we'll like get clips
- 7:35from really old episodes and post it, post it on the social
- 7:39media to try to, you know, gain new audience or people who
- 7:43haven't listened to old episodes to go back and listen to those.
- 7:46I do plan because this year we'll make it, you know, five
- 7:50years of the podcast to at least do an episode for that.
- 7:54What we'll do, I'm not sure, but I do want to do like a five year
- 7:57anniversary because that is a long time.
- 8:00I mean, again, I'm surprised I haven't given up on this yet.
- 8:03I was close to, but I'm still here, and maybe we'll do
- 8:07something at the end of the year.
- 8:08And I also did want to make, like, a completely new cover,
- 8:11especially for changing the whole structure of this podcast.
- 8:15I want to change the cover as well.
- 8:18And I kind of want to Draw Something like I did when the
- 8:22show very first started. Yeah, that's all I wanted to
- 8:25come on here and say just really, truly announced, like an
- 8:28official break. We will be back, I promise.
- 8:32I mean, if you do, stick around. If you don't, I understand.
- 8:34That's OK. And there's thousands of
- 8:36podcasts out there daily. I just once again appreciate if
- 8:39you've even listened to 5 Minutes of Us.
- 8:43It has helped a lot. So yeah, make sure you all are
- 8:49taking care of yourselves. I feel like I really need to
- 8:52start listening to my own advice, which is another reason
- 8:54why we're taking this break because times are tough out
- 8:57here. I don't even want to say if you
- 8:59live in America. I just, it's the whole world,
- 9:01times are tough out here. Shit is happening and we just
- 9:06need each other more than ever to combat all this.
- 9:10Like evilness that's trying to resurface.
- 9:13Like basically get rid of the progress I thought we were
- 9:15slowly moving towards. And then they were like, no, for
- 9:20reasons I won't get into. So yeah, if you have friends or
- 9:25family that you can trust and confide in, just lean on them
- 9:29more than ever. Like don't isolate yourself.
- 9:32This is really a time where we need some sort of community,
- 9:35even if it's just your local neighbors and learning how to
- 9:38help each other, whether it's just like looking after each
- 9:41other, looking after their property, sharing tips on
- 9:45things, things like that. Like it could be the littlest
- 9:48things to combat everything else that's happening.
- 9:51It's just things that you can control.
- 9:53That's really all we can do right now to try to start that
- 9:56flow and change of bigger change, you know, get outside
- 10:00the house again. I feel like I'm talking to
- 10:02myself more than you guys. Even if it's standing outside to
- 10:06get some sun and vitamin D for 5 minutes, it makes a difference
- 10:10drinking our water. Please just continue to take
- 10:14care of yourselves physically and mentally.
- 10:17It's going to feel really weird, like not being like, hey, we
- 10:20need to record an episode. Yeah, I really enjoy doing this
- 10:25show just because I feel like it's really helped me get
- 10:29through a lot of hard times. So once again, I appreciate
- 10:32y'all for whoever y'all are out there just giving us a chance,
- 10:38you know, listening to a girl that's just in Florida who don't
- 10:44feel like she got much going on in her life.
- 10:46But anyway, I have been Simone and this has been, I was
- 10:51thinking and we'll see you guys when we come back.
- 10:55Bye.
