- 0:00The world changes every day, but God's truth never does.
- 0:04Welcome to Faith in Today's World, a special series from Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 0:10I'm Angel Santana, and today we'll explore today's headlines,
- 0:14everyday challenges, and the questions people are asking, and discover what
- 0:19God's Word has to say about them.
- 0:22Because while the world keeps changing, our hope remains the same.
- 0:26Jesus Christ. Have Faith, Let It Begin starts right now.
- 0:32Welcome to Have Faith, Let It Begin. This is Ariel Santana.
- 0:36Can you believe I'm seven years old already? I'm old enough now to introduce my dad.
- 0:42Ladies and gentlemen, your host, my dad, Angel Santana.
- 0:49Two thousand came and a spark was lit. A testimony raw, it wouldn't quit.
- 0:54His mother's voice, a guiding thread. The angels are with you, she gently said.
- 1:21Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 1:24I'm Angel Santana, and this is episode three of Faith in Today's World.
- 1:30Today's question is one that we have faced, we've all faced.
- 1:34How do we love people when we don't agree with them? Wow.
- 1:39Maybe it's politics, maybe it's religion, maybe it's parenting,
- 1:44maybe it's a family disagreement that's been going on for years.
- 1:49It seems like everywhere we turn, someone wants us to choose a side.
- 1:54But as followers of Christ, what if we're called to choose something greater? Love.
- 2:01Have you noticed that it feels harder than ever to have a conversation?
- 2:05Social media has made it easy to share opinions. But sometimes we've forgotten how to listen.
- 2:12We've become quick to respond. Slow to understand.
- 2:17People unfriend each other. Families stop talking.
- 2:21Hear my son in the background? He's ready to move on. Neighbors avoid one another.
- 2:26Sometimes all because of one disagreement.
- 2:29See, he's ready to go. This question isn't whether disagreements exist. They always will.
- 2:35The question is, how often or how should a Christian or man of faith or a person
- 2:40of faith, woman of faith, regardless, how should we respond?
- 2:45What does the Bible say? Well, let's take a look.
- 2:49The words of Jesus in John chapter 13, verses 34, 35.
- 2:54The word of the Lord, a new command I give you, love one another as I have loved you.
- 3:00So you must love one another by this.
- 3:03Everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.
- 3:10Notice something. Jesus didn't
- 3:13say, they'll know you're my disciples because you win every argument.
- 3:18He said, he didn't say that. He said, they'll know your mind because of your love.
- 3:24Let's say that again. They'll know your mind because of your love.
- 3:29Let me be clear though. Love doesn't mean agreeing with everything.
- 3:33Love doesn't mean compromising your faith.
- 3:37Love doesn't mean pretending sin doesn't exist.
- 3:41It means remembering that every person you meet was created in the image of God.
- 3:47You can stand firmly on biblical truth while still treating people with dignity,
- 3:53compassion, and respect.
- 3:55Truth without love becomes harsh. Love without truth loses its foundation.
- 4:01And Jesus showed us both.
- 4:04Working in healthcare, I've met people from every background imaginable.
- 4:09Different beliefs, different cultures, different life experiences.
- 4:13Even being a father, you can hear my son in the background. He's like,
- 4:16I want to go outside. Let's go. And I said, don't worry, we're going to move
- 4:19on first. Let me just record this episode.
- 4:22One thing I've learned is this. Everyone wants to be treated with respect.
- 4:26Even Noah, even at four years old, he wants that.
- 4:29Sometimes the greatest witness we have isn't a sermon.
- 4:34It's the way we treat someone who's having a difficult day.
- 4:38Sometimes people won't remember every word we say, but they'll always remember how we made them feel.
- 4:46Here's today's faith challenge for everyone as we conclude today's episode.
- 4:50Yes, we're going to go to the playground right when I'm done.
- 4:52I promise, Noah. Reach out to someone you disagree with.
- 4:56Not to debate, not to convince, just to listen. Ask them how they're doing.
- 5:04Pray for them, even if they never know you did.
- 5:08Because love begins when we choose relationships over winning.
- 5:15Like right now, my son is getting very impatient, but you know what?
- 5:18He has a right to be impatient because I told him one minute and that was seven minutes ago.
- 5:23So we're closing today's episode right like this.
- 5:26Imagine what would happen if we as believers of Christ, of God,
- 5:32of all different types of religion, became known for listening as much as speaking.
- 5:39Imagine if our first response wasn't anger, but grace.
- 5:44Not because we're weak, but because Jesus was strong enough to love us while we were still sinners.
- 5:51That's the example we're called to follow.
- 5:54And we're going to pray about that. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us.
- 5:58Even when we fall short, teach us to love others the way you have loved us and
- 6:04help us speak the truth when gentleness.
- 6:08When gentleness arrives and is present, teach us to speak the truth with gentleness.
- 6:14Help us listen before we judge. Help us become peacemakers in the word that
- 6:20often chooses division.
- 6:22May our words bring healing. May our actions reflect Christ.
- 6:27And may those around us see you through the way we love each other.
- 6:34In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
- 6:37Well, thank you for joining me and Noah in the background for another episode
- 6:40of Faith in Today's World, a special series from Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 6:44Remember, the world changes every day, but God's truth never does.
- 6:49Go into the world today and go into looking for opportunities to be peacemakers.
- 6:53Lead with grace. Stand the truth. Stand in the truth. Love without fear.
- 6:59And never forget to have faith and let it begin.
- 7:04Well, every day brings new headlines. So tomorrow is episode four and unexpected
- 7:10challenges and reasons to worry.
- 7:12But does God say about, what does he say about fear?
- 7:16And how can we find peace when life feels out of control?
- 7:20Hmm, join us as we discover that God's presence is greater than our anxiety. That's the episode.
- 7:27And his peace is available even in life's storm.
- 7:31May God be with you. May he shine his light upon you. and grant each and every
- 7:34single one of you peace on earth. And never forget, have faith.
- 7:40Let it begin. Let it begin. See you tomorrow. Noah, can you tell everybody to
- 7:44have faith and let it begin?
- 7:46Bye. Bye. Say hasta la pasta. Hasta la pasta.
