- 1:31So what's everybody doing right now?
- 1:40Are you feeling good today or how are
- 1:43you feeling?
- 1:49And I think that's an important piece, right?
- 1:53Is to understand where we're coming from.
- 1:56But before we actually kick off the show
- 1:58tonight, I want to focus on a coffee
- 2:01shop, another one in Montclair, New Jersey.
- 2:04It's another great coffee shop.
- 2:05This one is called Gold Star Coffee.
- 2:10So they are in, they are, yeah, they're
- 2:15in New Jersey.
- 2:16I'm hoping they are close.
- 2:18I'll try to get one here close right
- 2:20here in, so this one is on Sunrise.
- 2:25Oh, that one's a sponsored one.
- 2:26I never like to do sponsored ones.
- 2:28So let me go to 77 Coffee.
- 2:3077 Coffee.
- 2:32Is it 706?
- 2:33Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, New Jersey.
- 2:37They are closed right now.
- 2:39They open at 7 o'clock in the
- 2:40morning and they close at 7 p.m.
- 2:43But on Sunday, they're open from 8 a
- 2:44.m. to 7 p.m. So yes, guys,
- 2:48if you're from that coffee shop at 77
- 2:50Coffee, please check out BelieveMeAchieved.com for more
- 2:54of my, of course, amazing, inspiring creations.
- 2:56And yes, you can then go to the
- 3:00Contact Us page and let me know that
- 3:03you'd like to host us to come and
- 3:04do a live show, the Inspiration for Your
- 3:06Life show there, as well as an author
- 3:08talk, a signing, and yes, a Q&A.
- 3:12I think you'll like that.
- 3:16So I hope you guys enjoy.
- 3:24And I hope you guys learned something today.
- 3:27So I think a lot of people today,
- 3:32you know, when we think about things we
- 3:33can do, they get hung up, unfortunately.
- 3:36But let's kick this off, right?
- 3:38So what's really holding you back?
- 3:41The truth you keep avoiding.
- 3:44Series 5, show 42.
- 3:47Yes, guys.
- 3:48And again, it is, when I say great
- 3:51to be with you guys, it is great
- 3:52to be with you.
- 3:53But I think a lot goes on when
- 3:55we think about, you know, the week and
- 3:57we think about, you know, what's happening and
- 3:59all this great stuff.
- 4:01But I think sometimes people, unfortunately, they get
- 4:04a little bit out of whack.
- 4:07And I think that happens because for whatever
- 4:09reason, people just don't seem to understand, like,
- 4:13what goes on in life.
- 4:15I think they don't realize that they have
- 4:17so much potential in their life.
- 4:18I mean, so very, very much potential that
- 4:22you can do so much in your life,
- 4:29right?
- 4:29You can actually do so much in your
- 4:31life if, if, if, if, if you realize
- 4:35what it is you are doing, right?
- 4:38And I think sometimes people get stuck.
- 4:41They get stuck in this doldrum of, you
- 4:44know, where they're going.
- 4:45And I think sometimes people just, for whatever
- 4:53reason, they get a little bit confused.
- 4:56And this happens for a lot of reasons.
- 5:00The main reason it happens is because people
- 5:04out there just, they don't understand what their
- 5:09true potential is.
- 5:10And I think that can be a, I
- 5:11think that can be a huge, huge problem
- 5:14for, you know, for, for a lot of
- 5:16people, you know, for, for a lot of
- 5:17people.
- 5:18So I want to tell you that there
- 5:21is so much you guys can do.
- 5:23I mean, so much you can do, but
- 5:24you first have to believe in who you
- 5:27are.
- 5:28You have to believe in who you are.
- 5:31And, and that's a very, that's an interesting
- 5:35scope or an interesting thing.
- 5:36But for whatever reason, guys, sometimes we get
- 5:40stuck in these doldrums of life, right?
- 5:43We get stuck in the part that, you
- 5:47know, maybe this is what we want.
- 5:48Maybe it's what we're doing.
- 5:50But then on the other hand, it's like,
- 5:51well, wait a minute, what am I actually
- 5:52doing?
- 5:53Right?
- 5:53What am I actually doing?
- 5:54And why am I doing it this way?
- 5:56So I think that can be hard for,
- 5:57for some people to, you know, to understand.
- 6:00But I think it's an important piece that
- 6:03many people here, like they don't realize that
- 6:06they have so much potential in life.
- 6:11Does that make sense?
- 6:16And I know a lot of you are
- 6:17saying, you know, I don't know if I
- 6:18can do this, but I can tell you
- 6:21that it really is different depending on, you
- 6:24know, your focus and what you're talking about.
- 6:26So I know a lot of you out
- 6:28there saying, oh my gosh, I don't know
- 6:29what I'm doing.
- 6:30I don't get it.
- 6:32But again, let, let, let's dive in.
- 6:34Okay, so welcome everyone to the ever popular
- 6:36Inspirations for Your Life show.
- 6:38And it's great to have you here with
- 6:41me.
- 6:41Oh, by the way, I'm John C.
- 6:43Morley.
- 6:43I'm a serial entrepreneur, an engineer, a marketing
- 6:45specialist, video producer, podcast host, coach, keynote speaker,
- 6:48passionate lifelong learner, graduate student at Montclair State
- 6:51University.
- 6:52And so grateful now to be a published
- 6:54author.
- 6:55Yes, guys.
- 6:55So this week is all about stop waiting
- 6:59for a sign.
- 7:02Your freedom starts with action.
- 7:03Yesterday, we learned to recognize what's holding us
- 7:07back.
- 7:08Today, we choose a different path.
- 7:11You can understand a problem perfectly and still
- 7:13remain stuck if you never make a decision.
- 7:17We're exploring 30 ways now to stop waiting
- 7:19for permission and start directing your life.
- 7:22So let's get going, guys.
- 7:24All right.
- 7:24Number one, recognize that every meaningful change begins
- 7:27with a choice.
- 7:28Awareness opens your eyes.
- 7:29But a decision gives your next step a
- 7:33direction.
- 7:34What are you choosing today?
- 7:36Number two, stop waiting for everyone to agree
- 7:39with your direction.
- 7:40People can care about you and still see
- 7:43things differently.
- 7:44Agreement isn't a requirement for responsible action.
- 7:48Number three, and I think that's an important
- 7:51one to understand.
- 7:54And so that is your decision, okay?
- 7:57Your decision deserves more influence than outside opinions.
- 8:02Listen carefully to people you respect.
- 8:04But remember that you're the one who must
- 8:08live with your choices, not anyone else.
- 8:10I think that's a very important one for
- 8:13all of us to understand.
- 8:15Number four, separate advice from permission.
- 8:19Advice can offer, well, perspective.
- 8:23And warn you about risks.
- 8:25Permission hands someone else authority over a decision
- 8:30that may belong to you, okay?
- 8:33And I think that's an important one to
- 8:36know.
- 8:36Number five, understand that uncertainty does not eliminate
- 8:40your ability to choose.
- 8:42You rarely get every answer in advance.
- 8:46Make a thoughtful, okay?
- 8:49Yes, make a thoughtful decision using what you
- 8:55know.
- 9:04Number six, stop treating indecision as a harmless
- 9:07delay.
- 9:08Doing nothing is still a choice, and it
- 9:11can quietly shape your future while you wait.
- 9:16Does that make sense?
- 9:22Yes or no?
- 9:26And number seven, recognize the hidden costs of
- 9:30postponing decisions.
- 9:33Delays just consume time, attention, confidence, and opportunities.
- 9:39Ask what waiting is costing you right now.
- 9:44And I know that's hard for a lot
- 9:45of people.
- 9:46Number eight, choose according to your values rather
- 9:50than your fears.
- 9:53Fear deserves a way to realize fear is
- 9:58not real.
- 9:58It's false and it's appearing real.
- 10:00And examine it, not automatic control.
- 10:03Let what matters most guide your responses.
- 10:07Does that make sense?
- 10:18And hopefully that gets you to understand some
- 10:21things, right?
- 10:22Number nine, accept that meaningful choices may involve
- 10:26discomfort.
- 10:27Growth can feel unfamiliar.
- 10:29Discomfort alone doesn't prove that your direction is
- 10:32wrong.
- 10:33No.
- 10:34Number 10, stop searching endlessly for the perfect
- 10:39option.
- 10:40Compare realistic choices, understand the trade-offs, and
- 10:44select a sound path instead of chasing an
- 10:49imagery flawless one.
- 10:50I think that could be a problem for
- 10:51some people.
- 10:52Number 11, learn to make decisions with the
- 10:55information available to you.
- 10:57Research what matters and ask useful questions and
- 11:02recognize when you've gathered enough to actually act.
- 11:07Number 12, understand that choosing one direction may
- 11:13require releasing another.
- 11:16Every meaningful yes can involve a no.
- 11:19That's not always loss.
- 11:22Sometimes it's focus.
- 11:24I mean, that's hard for us to understand.
- 11:26And hopefully, and
- 11:38so, so understanding this can be huge for
- 11:42you guys, okay?
- 11:44Number 13, stop allowing other people's disappointment to
- 11:49control you.
- 11:59Don't let it control you because you have
- 12:02more power than you think.
- 12:04Be considerate, but don't sacrifice an important, healthy
- 12:07decision simply to avoid upsetting someone.
- 12:10Number 14, recognize when approval seeks a time
- 12:17to weaken your confidence.
- 12:19If you need applause before every step, your
- 12:22direction will change whenever the audience does.
- 12:24I think that's important.
- 12:30Does that make sense?
- 12:36And that's important.
- 12:39Number 15, take ownership of decisions without demanding
- 12:42guarantees.
- 12:43You can act responsibly and still face surprises.
- 12:47Ownership means responding honestly to outcomes.
- 12:53Number 16, choose commitments that reflect who you
- 12:58want to become.
- 13:00Your schedule and your promises should support your
- 13:04values, not just your old habits.
- 13:07I think that's something that a lot of
- 13:08people today don't realize, but it's truth, guys.
- 13:12It is absolutely true.
- 13:13That's something that we, as people, need to
- 13:15understand.
- 13:15It's something that we need to be aware
- 13:17of, right?
- 13:18It's not something that we can just push
- 13:20under the carpet, right?
- 13:22Number 17, stop revisiting decisions without new information.
- 13:27Constantly reopening a settled choice can drain energy
- 13:33like crazy.
- 13:35Reconsider when something meaningful changes in your life.
- 13:38Number 18, understand that mistakes can become valuable
- 13:45feedback.
- 13:46An imperfect result can teach you how to
- 13:48improve.
- 13:49Learning is different from declaring yourself a failure.
- 13:56Number 19, make room for thoughtful changes in
- 14:02direction.
- 14:03Commitment isn't a prison.
- 14:05New evidence can justify a better route without
- 14:08erasing earlier progress.
- 14:12That's hard for a lot of people to
- 14:13realize.
- 14:24Does that make sense?
- 14:30But some people get lost in this, and
- 14:35then they wonder why they can't go anywhere.
- 14:56Number 20, guys, recognize the difference between commitment
- 15:00and stubbornness.
- 15:01Commitment serves a meaningful purpose.
- 15:03Stubbornness can keep defending a method that no
- 15:08longer works.
- 15:10Number 21, choose progress over endless comparison.
- 15:15Someone else's timeline isn't your instruction manual.
- 15:19Measure your next step against your own priorities.
- 15:24Number 22, stop allowing fear to take over
- 15:28with you and give you regret to prevent
- 15:31action.
- 15:32You can't eliminate every possible regret.
- 15:35You can make a considered choice and learn
- 15:38from what follows.
- 15:50Does that make sense?
- 15:58And what follows can hurt some people because
- 16:01they don't know where they're going.
- 16:02Number 23, give yourself permission to pursue meaningful
- 16:05opportunities.
- 16:06You don't need a standing ovation to learn,
- 16:09grow, apply, create, or begin again.
- 16:12Number 24, make one decision you've been unnecessarily
- 16:18delaying.
- 16:19Name it clearly.
- 16:20A specific choice is easier to act on
- 16:23than a vague wish for change.
- 16:27Yeah, when we have a certain pattern, it
- 16:29becomes a lot easier.
- 16:30Number 25, turn the decision into a clear
- 16:35next step.
- 16:36Decide what you'll do when you'll do it
- 16:39and what finishing that step will look like.
- 16:42And that's hard for a lot of people.
- 16:44But once you get going, it becomes a
- 16:46lot easier, guys.
- 16:47Number 26, communicate your choice with confidence and
- 16:51respect.
- 16:52You can be firm without being dismissive.
- 16:55Explain what matters without turning every conversation into
- 16:58a debate.
- 17:01Number 27, accept that not everyone will understand
- 17:05your journey.
- 17:07Different people have different experiences.
- 17:09Their confusion doesn't automatically invalidate your direction.
- 17:20Does that make sense or not?
- 17:35Because we have to realize what this means.
- 17:42Number 28, strengthen trust in your own judgment
- 17:46through experience.
- 17:48Make reasonable choices, observe the results, and adjust
- 17:51confidence.
- 17:52And it will grow through patience.
- 17:55Patience.
- 17:55Number 29, remember that choosing is an ongoing
- 18:00responsibility.
- 18:01One big decision isn't enough.
- 18:03Your daily actions keep confirming or changing the
- 18:07direction you've selected.
- 18:08And that's hard for a lot of people.
- 18:1030, decide that your future deserves intentional direction.
- 18:17Don't leave every important choice to habit, fear,
- 18:20or someone else's expectations.
- 18:23Participate in shaping your life.
- 18:25And that's hard.
- 18:43I think sometimes people don't get certain things.
- 18:51But then they blame other people for why
- 18:53they don't get them.
- 18:54But really, it's themselves that aren't getting them.
- 18:58Right?
- 19:02It's themselves.
- 19:15And I think sometimes people want answers, but
- 19:18then they don't know where to go.
- 19:31And maybe you're going to say something and
- 19:33maybe you're not.
- 19:35But maybe you're going to go down a
- 19:37pathway that's going to confuse you.
- 19:39That's going to get you to say, wait
- 19:40a minute.
- 19:41I don't know if I can do this.
- 19:43And the reason you're saying that is for
- 19:46one reason.
- 19:47Because you don't really have confidence in yourself.
- 20:00Does that make sense?
- 20:11I think sometimes we want an answer.
- 20:14But then we're not really ready for the
- 20:18answer that comes.
- 20:19So we play the denial game.
- 20:27We play the denial game.
- 20:35And sometimes the denial game makes us feel
- 20:37like we don't have confidence, but we really
- 20:40do.
- 20:43Confidence is hard.
- 20:46Because when something doesn't go your way, you're
- 20:47like, well, how do I do it?
- 21:00Make sense?
- 21:12And I think if we can understand these
- 21:14things, we can say to ourselves, OK, this
- 21:16is where I want to go.
- 21:17This is what I can do.
- 21:20When you say you can't, you've already ended
- 21:22your destiny.
- 21:23So you have to stop waiting for permission.
- 21:26People their whole life, they wait for permission,
- 21:28right?
- 21:30And they think that they wait for permission.
- 21:32It's like, wait a minute.
- 21:35I don't know.
- 21:37Right?
- 21:39Do I have the permission or not?
- 21:50So number 30, decide that your future deserves
- 21:54intentional direction.
- 21:55Don't have every important choice.
- 21:59Be a habit, fear, or someone else's expectation.
- 22:02Participate in shaping your own life yourself.
- 22:18Does that make sense?
- 22:28So here's your Sunday challenge if you're ready
- 22:31for it.
- 22:32Make one decision you've been postponing.
- 22:36Write it down.
- 22:37And identify the first action that supports it.
- 22:41Take the action as soon as you reasonably
- 22:43can.
- 22:44Our journey continues.
- 22:48Saturday, we recognized.
- 22:50Today, we actually chose.
- 22:53Monday, we're going to break free together.
- 22:56Tuesday, we're going to stand firm.
- 22:58Wednesday, we're going to trust.
- 23:00Thursday, we'll rise again.
- 23:03And Friday, we're going to live free.
- 23:05Hopefully, this helps you a little bit.
- 23:06But I know a lot of people get
- 23:07concerned about, you know.
- 23:23And I think people, sometimes they get scared.
- 23:28Because they feel that they've never done something
- 23:30like this before.
- 23:31And they don't think they can.
- 23:37Right?
- 23:38See, once you say you can't do something,
- 23:40Henry Ford is right.
- 23:42You can't.
- 23:44If you say you can, then you know
- 23:45what?
- 23:46You are also very right.
- 23:50But I know how this can cause challenges
- 23:52for people.
- 23:53Not because you want it to.
- 23:55It just does.
- 23:58Everybody wants permission.
- 24:00Can I do this?
- 24:01Can I do that?
- 24:02And I get that, right?
- 24:05But we have to ask permission for everything
- 24:06in life.
- 24:15It changes our makeup.
- 24:27And that changes our perspective of life.
- 24:32Because if we have to ask permission for
- 24:33everything we do, how are we ever going
- 24:36to get somewhere?
- 24:37Confidence builds very, very slowly when that happens,
- 24:41guys.
- 24:42Very, very slowly.
- 24:49And I think it's slowly because people just
- 24:52feel like they can't win.
- 24:58They can't win.
- 25:00But they really can.
- 25:01It's just that they have to believe in
- 25:04themselves.
- 25:06They have to believe in themselves.
- 25:10Right?
- 25:15And that's important.
- 25:18Right?
- 25:19So here is your Sunday challenge, Liz Joann.
- 25:22Make one decision, even postponing.
- 25:25Write it down.
- 25:26Then identify the first action that supports it.
- 25:30Take that action as soon as you reasonably
- 25:33can.
- 25:37As soon as you reasonably can.
- 25:38And that'll be amazing for you guys.
- 25:41Really amazing.
- 25:44And I think when we start to think
- 25:45about these things, we start to look at
- 25:47what's happening, right?
- 25:52Right?
- 25:54I think that's an important piece for people
- 25:57to realize.
- 25:59But I think when we start to see
- 26:01these things happen in our life, it's like,
- 26:03oh my gosh, I can actually do this.
- 26:05It changes the whole pathway.
- 26:11Because when we know we can do something,
- 26:14it changes what is possible.
- 26:17Right?
- 26:18Henry Ford said, as I said again, if
- 26:20you believe you can, you're right.
- 26:21If you believe you can't, you're also right.
- 26:26That's powerful, guys.
- 26:27But some people get lost in the...
- 26:38I think sometimes we rush the finish line
- 26:45because we've always had to stop getting permission.
- 26:48And when I say we rush, we're rushing
- 26:51because we're always had to get so much
- 26:52permission.
- 26:52But if we develop that in ourself, we
