Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Business Roundtable Podcast. I'm your guest,
• 0:33
Speaker 1: host of your guests, and a host all of one,
• 0:36
Speaker 1: David car Star your Business. I've got my guest here,
• 0:39
Speaker 1: Joel Clelland who I've known for years. We're going to
• 0:41
Speaker 1: get into a great word for this episode. We were
• 0:44
Speaker 1: just talking right before we recorded this. I have known
• 0:46
Speaker 1: Joel Gosh for over twenty plus years. Has been I
• 0:50
Speaker 1: lost account. But Joel is a great friend, a great colleague.
• 0:54
Speaker 1: He has just a vast array of experience. He's particularly
• 0:59
Speaker 1: been in the education space for quite a while, but
• 1:01
Speaker 1: he's an entrepreneur, he is a musician, he's worked with nonprofits,
• 1:07
Speaker 1: and he has just got a wealth of experience. And
• 1:09
Speaker 1: so welcome to the Business round Table Podcast. Joel, glad
• 1:12
Speaker 1: to have you here.
• 1:14
  Speaker 2: Thank you.
• 1:14
Speaker 1: David, super super excited to have you here. Joel and
• 1:17
Speaker 1: I have been talking about, hey, let's do an episode.
• 1:20
Speaker 1: What could that be? And we're going to have to
• 1:22
Speaker 1: talk about a couple of different things. But I really
• 1:24
Speaker 1: like the word that Joel brought up as we were
• 1:27
Speaker 1: brainstorming about what do we want to talk about in
• 1:29
Speaker 1: this episode, and the word ambition came up, and you
• 1:33
Speaker 1: know that word can be positive to some and hopefully
• 1:36
Speaker 1: it is to Joel and I, but it'd also be
• 1:38
Speaker 1: negative to others. And we're going to kind of talk
• 1:40
Speaker 1: and unpack this ambitious life as a as a leader,
• 1:44
Speaker 1: as a business owner, as a father, as a husband.
• 1:47
Speaker 1: How do we do all these things in this crazy life?
• 1:49
Speaker 1: And so I really thought, Joel, I really liked you
• 1:51
Speaker 1: bringing up that word ambition. So we're going to dig
• 1:55
Speaker 1: into that. But before we dig into that word, I
• 1:58
Speaker 1: want you, Joel, to share your ambitious life, what you
• 2:01
Speaker 1: got you here, So give us a brief, a brief
• 2:04
Speaker 1: high level of you know where you came from. You
• 2:07
Speaker 1: and I met back I think in the college days
• 2:10
  Speaker 1: or right around.
• 2:10
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, definitely, and there was definite around.
• 2:13
Speaker 1: Times and things right, but but you know your journey
• 2:17
Speaker 1: to you know where you are now in business in particular.
• 2:20
Speaker 1: We're going to get into family life and other things,
• 2:22
Speaker 1: but just walk us through who you are, Joel, and
• 2:24
Speaker 1: a little bit for our audience, they get to know
• 2:26
Speaker 1: you a little better for sure.
• 2:28
Speaker 3: And David, if I recall, we definitely crossed paths in
• 2:31
Speaker 3: the mobile disc jockey world.
• 2:33
Speaker 1: Yes we did, Yes, for many another world right were
• 2:37
Speaker 1: we were both mobile DJs MC music. Absolutely.
• 2:41
Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I've been married to my wonderful wife for
• 2:47
Speaker 2: for coming up on twenty eight years. And one of
• 2:51
Speaker 2: the things I was thinking about is I was getting
• 2:53
Speaker 2: ready to hop on your show, was.
• 2:57
Speaker 3: I'm a married father of five of trying to make
• 3:01
Speaker 3: things happen in twenty twenty five, twenty twenty five Southern California,
• 3:07
Speaker 3: and I know at times it's rather exhausting to be
• 3:11
Speaker 3: honest mentally and emotionally and physically.
• 3:15
Speaker 2: That being said, I would trade any of it all
• 3:19
Speaker 2: for all the money in Fort Knox, which.
• 3:26
Speaker 1: What's in there, I know exactly ex.
• 3:30
Speaker 3: But I've, like you said, I've been hanging my hat
• 3:33
Speaker 3: in the education space for many, many many years. I
• 3:37
Speaker 3: dabbled in in the insurance industry for well over ten years,
• 3:41
Speaker 3: ten to fifteen years, and I was I ran ran
• 3:46
Speaker 3: a company for for almost three years in the digital
• 3:51
Speaker 3: digital currency space. And you know, it's it's interesting that
• 3:57
Speaker 3: word ambition, because I've been in conversations where that just
• 4:02
Speaker 3: the word itself has come up, and I've gotten two
• 4:04
Speaker 3: different takes on the word. And some people they think
• 4:09
Speaker 3: that it's a bad thing because.
• 4:12
  Speaker 2: I don't know.
• 4:12
  Speaker 3: I'm sure there's there's some time on the therapist's couch
• 4:16
Speaker 3: that they'll need work through for that.
• 4:17
Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, I think, as
• 4:19
Speaker 2: long as you know, you keep your ego in check
• 4:23
  Speaker 2: and your.
• 4:27
Speaker 3: Just your ability to care for yourself and others in check,
• 4:31
Speaker 3: why not be as amazing as you can be, whatever
• 4:33
Speaker 3: that means for you, and whether that's it for athletes
• 4:38
Speaker 3: or for business people or people operating in any sector,
• 4:43
Speaker 3: and even just you know, personal development, like what's next
• 4:46
Speaker 3: for me? You know, I turned fifty a couple of
• 4:49
Speaker 3: years ago, and I was thinking to myself, I don't
• 4:53
Speaker 3: want to retire. I know people my age that are
• 4:55
Speaker 3: are getting broken down, have disabilities, and they're thinking about
• 5:00
Speaker 3: stopping what they've been doing for many, many years. And
• 5:03
Speaker 3: I just you know, the word retire, the definition is
• 5:08
Speaker 3: to put out of use, be put out to pasture.
• 5:11
Speaker 2: And I don't want to be put out to pasture.
• 5:13
Speaker 2: I want to visit pastures.
• 5:16
Speaker 3: The serenity of a pastor, right, you know, I don't
• 5:19
Speaker 3: want to be I don't want to be put out
• 5:20
  Speaker 3: of use. I don't I don't believe I'll ever fully retire.
• 5:25
Speaker 3: But I think because retirement as a concept is a
• 5:29
Speaker 3: very it's a fairly new concept in the human timeline,
• 5:34
Speaker 3: if you will, yep, I mean, I think we can
• 5:36
Speaker 3: we can talk about that.
• 5:37
Speaker 2: We can talk about that people.
• 5:41
Speaker 3: As individuals should really decide for themselves.
• 5:45
Speaker 2: You know, what's best for me, what's best for my family?
• 5:49
Speaker 3: You know, I know you're probably looking for some evergreen content,
• 5:52
Speaker 3: but you're not going to get that out of me.
• 5:54
Speaker 2: I will say this.
• 5:57
Speaker 3: Warren Buffett, ninety four years old is still yes. I mean,
• 6:01
Speaker 3: you know, he's got his young sixty two year old
• 6:04
  Speaker 3: replacement coming down.
• 6:05
Speaker 2: From yeah right to take over the company.
• 6:07
Speaker 3: But that being said, I'm inspired by him. I don't
• 6:11
Speaker 3: always agree with him, but it's it's it's inspiring.
• 6:15
Speaker 2: I think, yeah, no, someone, this is someone who.
• 6:18
Speaker 3: Found something he loves and he's been doing it for
• 6:21
Speaker 3: over half a century.
• 6:22
Speaker 1: Well, I want to jump in there, Joel, because I
• 6:24
Speaker 1: just recorded an episode, another episode of the Business Rentable podcast.
• 6:28
Speaker 1: Actually earlier today. I was recording that and I was
• 6:30
Speaker 1: talking with a woman in her early fifties. She started
• 6:33
Speaker 1: her company. You guys can check it out. It's called
• 6:36
Speaker 1: with Martika about the green economy. And you know she
• 6:40
Speaker 1: has and this is you know, quite a while later,
• 6:42
Speaker 1: number of years later, so she was really encouraging you.
• 6:44
Speaker 1: So I agree. You know, I started Steward your Business.
• 6:47
Speaker 1: I'm fifty one. I started Stewart your Business about almost
• 6:50
Speaker 1: two and a half years ago, going on three years,
• 6:52
Speaker 1: and and so you know, if you're feeling a calling
• 6:57
Speaker 1: to do this now, this is I think to the
• 6:58
Speaker 1: ambition point, Joel. You know, sometimes people get in for
• 7:02
Speaker 1: the wrong reasons, and maybe that's why ambition is maybe negative,
• 7:05
Speaker 1: right because both of the time people the ambition is
• 7:07
Speaker 1: why I want to make a lot of money. And
• 7:09
Speaker 1: I talk with any small business owner, if that's the
• 7:13
Speaker 1: reason for getting into business, you're not gonna you're not
• 7:15
Speaker 1: gonna make it whatever that you know, ambition is like
• 7:18
Speaker 1: I just want to be especially or if you want
• 7:21
Speaker 1: to be somebody else, not truly who you are. But
• 7:24
Speaker 1: you're like, we I have this ambition and we can
• 7:26
Speaker 1: be inspired, and I think, and that's not a bad thing,
• 7:28
Speaker 1: but we have to find ourselves in our own journey.
• 7:31
Speaker 1: Otherwise the ambition, you know, may be misguided. And so
• 7:37
Speaker 1: you have to check I think, like you said, check it, Sol,
• 7:40
Speaker 1: what is what is it? Ultimately, I think both you
• 7:43
Speaker 1: and I have a strong desire to serve. Others come
• 7:47
Speaker 1: from a place of abundance. And so if we're coming
• 7:50
Speaker 1: from a place of abundance and we get to it's
• 7:52
Speaker 1: not that we have to we get to serve. We
• 7:54
Speaker 1: get to bring whatever we have, our talents, our gifts
• 7:58
Speaker 1: and abilities. Then I agree with you. Ambition is a
• 8:00
Speaker 1: positive thing because we're trying to be a blessing. We're
• 8:02
Speaker 1: trying to look after others. That's the word of my company,
• 8:05
Speaker 1: steward your business, steward and watching over. So that's never
• 8:10
Speaker 1: I agree with you, Joel. It's never done. It's never like,
• 8:12
Speaker 1: well I just checked the box. I mean, I hate
• 8:15
Speaker 1: to say it. I hear people say that. I mean,
• 8:17
Speaker 1: even you know you and I come from a background
• 8:20
Speaker 1: in Christianity and background and people I will hear people say,
• 8:23
Speaker 1: well I did my time, I did. What is there
• 8:27
Speaker 1: an end? It's like do you sharing good news and sharing?
• 8:31
  Speaker 2: Excuse me?
• 8:32
Speaker 1: Like, well, I just want to hold them in, Like
• 8:34
Speaker 1: that's kind of what I hear about. You say I retire, Like,
• 8:36
Speaker 1: well I did this and now I'm just gonna I'm
• 8:38
Speaker 1: just going to consume and sit over here. That please
• 8:43
  Speaker 1: go ahead.
• 8:45
Speaker 3: Well, first I'll start with the word identity just came
• 8:48
Speaker 3: up in my mind, and I was thinking, you know,
• 8:50
Speaker 3: it's like, you don't have to stop being who you are,
• 8:53
Speaker 3: whoever that wonderful person is. You want to lean into that.
• 8:57
Speaker 3: But the other piece is, you know, when when do
• 9:01
Speaker 3: I stop serving? Do I stop serving at a certain age?
• 9:05
Speaker 3: Do I keep working and serving until my last breath?
• 9:10
Speaker 3: One of one of my dear friends and a client.
• 9:14
Speaker 2: He's eighty two years old and he just lost his
• 9:18
Speaker 2: wife to cancer just a few months ago.
• 9:21
Speaker 3: And this this gentleman I meet with him periodically. He's
• 9:24
Speaker 3: kind of lost. To be perfectly honest, I mean she
• 9:27
Speaker 3: she was a all of his life for him.
• 9:29
Speaker 2: She was his caregiver.
• 9:31
Speaker 3: She was, you know, the biggest thing in his life.
• 9:34
Speaker 3: And the thing I just keep telling him. I just
• 9:36
Speaker 3: tell him over and over again, sir, you need to
• 9:40
Speaker 3: ask God what's next for me? Why was I left behind?
• 9:45
Speaker 3: My wife is a few years younger than me. Why
• 9:47
Speaker 3: was she taken and not me? I wish I had
• 9:49
Speaker 3: a been taken? And I just encourage him. I'm like,
• 9:52
Speaker 3: that's that's the wrong place to be. Oh.
• 9:56
  Speaker 1: I mean, a Joel a fun story because I just
• 9:58
Speaker 1: went to hear a low in southern California. There was
• 10:01
Speaker 1: Retrocon this past weekend, which is kind of a fun
• 10:04
  Speaker 1: little convention.
• 10:05
Speaker 2: Sounds fun, Yeah, it was fun.
• 10:06
  Speaker 3: It was.
• 10:07
Speaker 1: But you know, I got to meet to two well
• 10:10
Speaker 1: known actors, creators. I'll you know, i'll name drop here,
• 10:13
Speaker 1: but John Ratzenberger, if you've known him, John Ratzenberger, voice actor.
• 10:17
Speaker 1: It was in Cheers, Cliff, and I asked him. I
• 10:20
Speaker 1: asked him, are you like, are you doing any of
• 10:22
Speaker 1: the projects? Is of course, I'm as long as I
• 10:24
Speaker 1: can work. I'm never going to retire. There's always something
• 10:27
Speaker 1: to do, you know. It's just your point, Joel, Joel, Hey,
• 10:29
Speaker 1: as long as God's allowed me to do it, I'm
• 10:31
Speaker 1: going to do it. And I thought, you know, here's
• 10:33
Speaker 1: a guy that has had tremendous success and tears. He's
• 10:38
Speaker 1: you know, you've heard him on all the different movies
• 10:40
Speaker 1: and voiceovers and all the Disney and Pixar stuff. Right,
• 10:44
Speaker 1: he was earning an Empire strikes back for a Star
• 10:45
  Speaker 1: Wars geeks.
• 10:46
Speaker 3: That's right, that's right in the in the first trilogy.
• 10:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, so here here is a man that is saying, hey, no,
• 10:53
Speaker 1: I'm still going to go. And I had a really
• 10:55
Speaker 1: great conversation with him, and then the other conversation among
• 10:59
Speaker 1: other folks. There was a couple of great people I met,
• 11:01
Speaker 1: But the other one that I just thought was fascinating
• 11:03
Speaker 1: was Sid Croft. If you know remember him from you know,
• 11:08
Speaker 1: The Land of the Lost and all these shows from
• 11:10
Speaker 1: the seven ninety five years old I got, I mean
• 11:13
Speaker 1: him ninety five years just you know, he's out there,
• 11:17
Speaker 1: you know, sitting out there meeting with fans, signing things,
• 11:20
Speaker 1: just engaging folks. He does a weekly podcast that he
• 11:23
Speaker 1: does on his Instagram. So there's a way of because
• 11:25
Speaker 1: if you're creative or it doesn't matter if you're creative
• 11:27
Speaker 1: not whatever that gift is for you. You know, I
• 11:31
Speaker 1: think otherwise you're right, Joel, because I feel like we otherwise.
• 11:33
Speaker 1: You see people kind of give up in life. It
• 11:35
Speaker 1: doesn't really matter what age. I mean, the thing you
• 11:37
Speaker 1: see people just disconnect, that's.
• 11:40
Speaker 2: Right, and it's almost like they put their hand up. Yeah,
• 11:43
  Speaker 2: it's like I'm done. I'm like, you're done.
• 11:46
Speaker 3: When I'm baking, there are things that are done, but
• 11:50
  Speaker 3: I mean I'll be baking.
• 11:51
Speaker 1: Forever right right, And you've navigated so many different things
• 11:56
Speaker 1: I want, And that's why I encourage folks that kind
• 11:58
Speaker 1: of made me feel stuck or in a right you know,
• 12:01
Speaker 1: don't feel like that's the end of the road, like
• 12:03
Speaker 1: like you said, I'm done, there's an opportunity. I like
• 12:06
Speaker 1: the word pivot. What is it that you're not not
• 12:10
Speaker 1: in the friends pivot? If you've ever watched that pivot,
• 12:12
Speaker 1: meaning you know we're adjusting and we don't have to
• 12:15
Speaker 1: make a wide swing. It's not like hard, it's just
• 12:18
Speaker 1: all it is a slight movement the.
• 12:20
Speaker 4: Left or to the right, right, right, and and and
• 12:25
Speaker 4: so that way, misplaced maybe ambition or misplaced identity could
• 12:29
Speaker 4: be great corrected, refocused into a much more healthier version.
• 12:33
Speaker 1: And and what I found for myself is this is
• 12:38
Speaker 1: done usually at least for me, has been done in
• 12:41
Speaker 1: community and connection with others. It's sharing and expressing where
• 12:44
  Speaker 1: I'm at, getting feedback, and there's a there's a course corection.
• 12:48
Speaker 1: But if you're siloed or if you're alone or isolated,
• 12:51
Speaker 1: really hard in my experience, not possible, but it's more
• 12:55
Speaker 1: difficult to get clearer on your identity. Your purpose is
• 12:59
Speaker 1: this and in alignment and so it's finding trusted advisors,
• 13:03
Speaker 1: trying to trusted people that you can come into your life. Bill,
• 13:06
Speaker 1: you and I have talked over the years sharing and
• 13:09
Speaker 1: whether it's personal, professional or personal, you know, it crosses
• 13:14
Speaker 1: over and so you know. So yeah, and I so
• 13:18
Speaker 1: appreciate you. And I hope as people are watching this
• 13:21
Speaker 1: and listening, if you don't have somebody in your life
• 13:24
Speaker 1: like I and Joel have a relationship, for others that
• 13:26
Speaker 1: you've heard of this podcast, by all means, it's worth
• 13:29
Speaker 1: the investment to find those people that maybe are further along,
• 13:35
Speaker 1: that are further along in their journey. I think it's
• 13:37
Speaker 1: two things, Joe and I to love your thoughts with us.
• 13:39
Speaker 1: Two things. It's finding people further along. When I say
• 13:41
Speaker 1: to your right of you that you can lean into
• 13:42
Speaker 1: whatever areas that is in your life. Is it business,
• 13:45
Speaker 1: is it your relationship? Is that you're taking care of
• 13:46
Speaker 1: yourself physically, spiritually, whatever that is. Because when we look
• 13:50
Speaker 1: to the right and we look at that person, there's
• 13:52
Speaker 1: always somebody further ahead. But also there is somebody to
• 13:55
Speaker 1: the left of us that we are further ahead. Believe
• 13:57
Speaker 1: it or not, we are further ahead than somebody else.
• 14:00
Speaker 1: So who else can we believe lay of the hand
• 14:02
Speaker 1: and to lift up, to share, to pour into So
• 14:05
Speaker 1: I really think it's a two way that we are
• 14:07
Speaker 1: both being mentored and finding others and mentoring others with
• 14:11
Speaker 1: whatever you have. I love your thoughts on that, Jeel.
• 14:15
Speaker 3: It's amazing how connected we are, David, because where you
• 14:20
Speaker 3: went was exactly where I was headed to.
• 14:24
  Speaker 2: It's fascinating me.
• 14:25
Speaker 3: I one of my coaches actually texted me about forty
• 14:29
Speaker 3: five minutes before we went on today, and he and
• 14:32
Speaker 3: I haven't talked in a couple of months or so
• 14:34
Speaker 3: at least, and I'm like, why is he texting me today?
• 14:36
Speaker 3: And I had to check my phone just now because
• 14:39
Speaker 3: I wanted I want to get the words correct. And
• 14:41
Speaker 3: his text was what's the next pursuit question Mark?
• 14:46
Speaker 2: So he obviously knows that I'm up to something. And
• 14:51
Speaker 2: the question you have to ask yourself is what are
• 14:53
Speaker 2: you up to? What's the next thing that you're developing?
• 14:56
Speaker 3: And I, believe it or not, there's two things I'm
• 14:59
Speaker 3: developing right now, and I'm not going to get into
• 15:01
Speaker 3: it on this program. But you have to have those
• 15:03
Speaker 3: soundboards in your life. You have to have those people
• 15:05
Speaker 3: in your life that number one see your blind spots.
• 15:08
Speaker 3: That's why we get coaches in the first place, where
• 15:10
Speaker 3: am I deficient? Where do I need to improve? But then,
• 15:15
Speaker 3: like David said, you know those people who are a
• 15:17
Speaker 3: little further along in whatever your.
• 15:19
Speaker 2: Pursuit is, what's that thing.
• 15:22
Speaker 3: Maybe it's health and fitness, maybe it's business, maybe it's
• 15:25
Speaker 3: managing assets, maybe it's something else entirely and aligning with
• 15:31
Speaker 3: those people, I would say the greatest blessing I have
• 15:37
Speaker 3: on God's green Earth in this lifetime that I've had
• 15:39
Speaker 3: is not just being.
• 15:41
Speaker 2: Connected with people like you, David.
• 15:43
Speaker 3: But I constantly find myself in the right circles surrounded
• 15:49
Speaker 3: by people, and I'm like, why do.
• 15:50
Speaker 2: I get this blessing? Why do I get to work
• 15:53
Speaker 2: with this amazing person or this amazing team.
• 15:57
Speaker 3: And it's common for me, you know. I I talk
• 16:01
Speaker 3: with people on the other side that they're always looking
• 16:03
Speaker 3: for the doom and gloom.
• 16:03
Speaker 2: It's like, how can I get out of this situation?
• 16:06
Speaker 2: I'm waiting for the next shoe to drop? Yeah, and
• 16:09
Speaker 2: I just I just don't live my life that way.
• 16:12
  Speaker 3: You can't.
• 16:12
Speaker 2: You can't have positive outcomes with a negative mind.
• 16:15
Speaker 1: No. Well, to your point, Joel, I think that's why
• 16:18
Speaker 1: you naturally, whether you call it the lat law of
• 16:21
Speaker 1: attraction or whatever you want to call it, manifestation, whatever
• 16:25
Speaker 1: the case might be. I do believe that there's a
• 16:27
Speaker 1: point where you you bring up right light, you bring
• 16:30
Speaker 1: that energy, like I said, coming from a place in
• 16:32
Speaker 1: an abundance mindset, like there is more than enough. I
• 16:36
Speaker 1: believe that's a natural attractant. The others are pulled to that,
• 16:41
Speaker 1: and and so and then on the same token, you
• 16:44
Speaker 1: know that that negative mindset or whatever also is attracts negative.
• 16:48
Speaker 1: So think of polarity, right, So you have the you know,
• 16:51
Speaker 1: the positive and the negative. But you know, so you're
• 16:54
Speaker 1: gonna pull like mindedness, whatever that might be. So you're
• 16:57
Speaker 1: choosing to put yourself in this place of hey can
• 17:01
Speaker 1: do possibilities. You're seeing what I call the gain rather
• 17:05
Speaker 1: than the gap, and others are drawn to that and
• 17:08
Speaker 1: they want to be a part of that. I literally
• 17:10
Speaker 1: was talking to this woman, like I said earlier, Marika,
• 17:12
Speaker 1: who's in the sustainability space. We're talking about how do
• 17:16
Speaker 1: we do that well? When you have a mindset like that,
• 17:18
Speaker 1: it's just remarkable and it's so much different than a
• 17:22
Speaker 1: lot of others. And so I think one way that
• 17:25
Speaker 1: we've been successful, Joel as I think not just businessmen,
• 17:29
Speaker 1: but you know, husbands and fathers. Is that we put
• 17:32
Speaker 1: ourselves in that space of being with others that want
• 17:35
Speaker 1: to rise, that want to step up, whatever that looks like.
• 17:40
Speaker 1: And to me, the more of those, generally speaking, are better.
• 17:44
Speaker 1: Whether it's your church, whether it's you know, Scouts, whether
• 17:48
Speaker 1: it's uh, you know, a nonprofit group, whatever that is there,
• 17:52
Speaker 1: they're a mission to lift up, their mission to help
• 17:56
Speaker 1: rise and for most you know, that to me is important.
• 17:59
Speaker 1: I am really counsel particularly my environmental space, Joel over
• 18:03
Speaker 1: the years of young biologist. Like I said, look, get
• 18:06
Speaker 1: involved with some kind of nonprofit. They all need help,
• 18:09
Speaker 1: they all need My position is a great way to
• 18:12
Speaker 1: connect and it's a great way to learn and give
• 18:14
Speaker 1: back and in turn, you know you're you're gonna you'll
• 18:19
Speaker 1: benefit as well. But just look it away and I think,
• 18:22
Speaker 1: but a lot of people are waiting on the sidelines
• 18:26
Speaker 1: and not getting engaged like you're doing, Joel. You know,
• 18:30
Speaker 1: and just speak a little bit too, because I know
• 18:31
Speaker 1: you've been involved with a number of nonprofits. I'd love
• 18:34
Speaker 1: to just hear a little bit because what that has
• 18:36
  Speaker 1: been for you.
• 18:38
Speaker 3: I would say that part of it gets to the
• 18:40
Speaker 3: striver Thriver mm hmm.
• 18:43
Speaker 2: Dichotomy, if you will.
• 18:46
Speaker 3: There is the voice that's like, okay, what's what what's
• 18:49
Speaker 3: in this for me?
• 18:50
  Speaker 1: Mm hm?
• 18:50
Speaker 3: You know, is this going to be a win win?
• 18:52
Speaker 3: And then there's the other side where it's like, you
• 18:54
Speaker 3: know what, I have some value to provide and I'm
• 18:56
Speaker 3: just gonna start providing it mm hmm and help where
• 18:59
Speaker 3: I can't. And we've all been in networking groups and
• 19:04
Speaker 3: we haven't gotten what we think we've put into the group,
• 19:08
Speaker 3: or we've been in a situation where we've given and
• 19:10
Speaker 3: given and given and we look back and we're like,
• 19:13
  Speaker 3: you know what. I I don't think that was a
• 19:14
Speaker 3: valuable exchange or a fair exchange. But that being said,
• 19:18
Speaker 3: I think you gave great counsel to the young people
• 19:22
Speaker 3: coming up that you know you've got something to give.
• 19:26
Speaker 3: I think about my own family. I mean, I've got
• 19:28
Speaker 3: five kids that I get to coach in a way,
• 19:31
Speaker 3: you know I and what am I modeling to them?
• 19:34
Speaker 3: What am I modeling to my wife? And you know
• 19:38
Speaker 3: that's just our little team here. When when I branch
• 19:42
Speaker 3: out to place my place of employment, like like you said,
• 19:46
Speaker 3: the you know places where I sit on boards right now,
• 19:48
Speaker 3: I s I sit on one board and.
• 19:53
Speaker 2: You know what, how am I showing up? Yeah? And
• 19:55
Speaker 2: when I'm there, am I thinking about looking at the
• 19:57
  Speaker 2: clock and thinking.
• 19:58
Speaker 3: Okay, you know I can't wait for this, you need
• 20:00
Speaker 3: to be over Or am I thinking okay, how can
• 20:02
  Speaker 3: I add value?
• 20:04
  Speaker 1: H That's a great, great point?
• 20:06
  Speaker 3: How can I?
• 20:06
Speaker 2: How can I? How can I be the leader that
• 20:09
Speaker 2: they brought me a board to be?
• 20:11
  Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
• 20:12
Speaker 3: You know I have this amazing opportunity to lead with
• 20:15
Speaker 3: leaders within within that context. And how am I adding
• 20:20
Speaker 3: value to these amazing people?
• 20:22
Speaker 2: Right? Am I bringing something that they that they can use?
• 20:25
  Speaker 2: I love?
• 20:25
Speaker 1: I love that? Joel? Like, how how am I bringing value?
• 20:30
Speaker 1: One thing you mentioned earlier? You've been successfully married for
• 20:33
Speaker 1: you know, twenty eight going on twenty eight years? Or
• 20:34
Speaker 1: I was talking about da.
• 20:36
Speaker 2: Can I just share one thing please? And am I
• 20:39
  Speaker 2: holding back?
• 20:40
  Speaker 1: Oh?
• 20:41
Speaker 2: And where am I holding back?
• 20:43
  Speaker 1: Mm hmmm?
• 20:44
Speaker 2: So I thought that was pretty important.
• 20:46
Speaker 1: Oh? Absolutely, what am I bringing value? What am I
• 20:48
Speaker 1: holding back? You know?
• 20:50
Speaker 2: I think am I holding anything back?
• 20:52
Speaker 1: Am I holding anything back? Yea? You know? And oftentimes
• 20:57
Speaker 1: I think we all are to a certain degree, you know,
• 21:00
Speaker 1: And so you know it's having good counsel and other
• 21:03
Speaker 1: people in your life. I think one of the things
• 21:07
Speaker 1: I talk about particularly in my Intelligent Human Leadership podcast,
• 21:10
Speaker 1: but I think it's worthwhile speaking here is you know
• 21:13
Speaker 1: you're talking. I've been coming up Mary almost twenty years,
• 21:16
Speaker 1: twenty eight years. And I was talking to another entrepreneur
• 21:19
Speaker 1: today about you know, he's building a lot, building a
• 21:23
Speaker 1: big business. He's got a lot of things going on,
• 21:24
Speaker 1: and he was talking to another entrepreneur and one of
• 21:26
Speaker 1: the things he said to this entrepreneur and relate to me, was, Hey,
• 21:30
Speaker 1: make sure you involve your spouse or girlfriend and whatever,
• 21:35
Speaker 1: the love of your life in your ambition, in your visions.
• 21:40
Speaker 1: Not that they have to, you know, they're not maybe
• 21:43
Speaker 1: actively involved, meaning like in the day to day, but
• 21:46
Speaker 1: make sure that they're aware because you can be so unfortunately,
• 21:49
Speaker 1: like you said earlier, blind spots and particularly i'm speaking,
• 21:53
Speaker 1: I'll just speak to men in particularly because I feel
• 21:55
Speaker 1: like this is more of a man thing. But you know,
• 21:56
Speaker 1: ladies may have this too, but you know, we kind
• 21:58
Speaker 1: of get mission folks. And and again, the ambition is
• 22:01
Speaker 1: not a bad thing, but not without understanding and seeing
• 22:06
Speaker 1: the other ramifications can be And I believe you know,
• 22:10
Speaker 1: like you said, Jo, you've been successful. You're making it,
• 22:12
Speaker 1: being married twenty eight years, having five kids. Sometimes not always,
• 22:18
Speaker 1: but sometimes we can be so outside of the world,
• 22:20
Speaker 1: trying to create value, trying to give, and then we
• 22:23
Speaker 1: have nothing left to bring back home, you know, and
• 22:28
Speaker 1: so speak maybe to how you've been successful in navigating that.
• 22:32
  Speaker 2: Jele, Well, I haven't always.
• 22:36
Speaker 6: Been I've always been successful, you know, sometimes, you know,
• 22:42
Speaker 6: going through life and it's like running on fumes at times.
• 22:47
  Speaker 2: But it's it's.
• 22:48
Speaker 3: Interesting because I would say that my counsel and my
• 22:53
Speaker 3: my leadership, my personal leadership, whether it's a coach or
• 22:56
Speaker 3: or the people that I'm operating with, has really just
• 23:01
Speaker 3: gotten so much better over time, and the conversations are
• 23:05
Speaker 3: so much high more high level.
• 23:07
Speaker 2: And it's interesting because the groups.
• 23:09
Speaker 3: That I'm involved with and the people that I'm getting
• 23:11
Speaker 3: counsel from have all reminded me that the number one
• 23:15
  Speaker 3: member of.
• 23:15
Speaker 2: My team is my wife. She's the number one member.
• 23:20
Speaker 3: And if I'm doing team planning, business planning, any kind
• 23:23
Speaker 3: of planning, she's number one, and she needs to be
• 23:27
Speaker 3: in the mix. And it's interesting because that part of
• 23:31
Speaker 3: my life has gotten better because whenever I start getting creative,
• 23:37
Speaker 3: I always include her and it's like, Okay, is this
• 23:42
Speaker 3: something that we need to be doing right now or
• 23:44
Speaker 3: is this the direction we need to be taking this
• 23:46
Speaker 3: area of our our life right now, because this is
• 23:51
Speaker 3: what I'm thinking, and having that sounding board I think
• 23:55
Speaker 3: is invaluable, and I think what happens with because unfortunately,
• 24:01
Speaker 3: not every relationship goes the distance, and that goes for
• 24:06
Speaker 3: marriages as well as businesses.
• 24:08
  Speaker 1: Yep.
• 24:10
Speaker 3: And the real question is, okay, well, how can we
• 24:15
  Speaker 3: make this work.
• 24:16
Speaker 2: You've heard the whole work life balance thing, which we
• 24:19
Speaker 2: all know is a myth. All of your time goes
• 24:23
  Speaker 2: to the.
• 24:23
Speaker 3: Things that are the most important, and at some point
• 24:26
Speaker 3: something suffers so that you can learn, oh yeah, that
• 24:29
  Speaker 3: was pretty important.
• 24:32
Speaker 2: At the end of the day, Well.
• 24:33
Speaker 1: What do they say, Look at your calendar and where
• 24:37
Speaker 1: you spend and that's pretty much indicator what your priorities are.
• 24:41
Speaker 1: And so if those are not the way you really know,
• 24:45
Speaker 1: what happens is something I call the drifts. Something of
• 24:47
Speaker 1: these just start filling up and you're like, whoa, whoa, whoa.
• 24:49
Speaker 1: Hold on, this isn't where I want. I like the
• 24:51
Speaker 1: analogy of like flying a plane when you're off like
• 24:54
Speaker 1: one degree and before you know you're gonna be in
• 24:56
Speaker 1: a completely different location. So it's like doing a regular
• 24:59
Speaker 1: audit and it looks at those things is not a
• 25:01
Speaker 1: bad thing and reassessing. In fact, we used to call
• 25:04
Speaker 1: it one of the companies, we call it meeting creep,
• 25:06
Speaker 1: Like these meetings would keep popping in and a lot,
• 25:09
Speaker 1: and then we would say, like then we go the
• 25:11
Speaker 1: other way. We're like no meetings and we're like, okay,
• 25:13
Speaker 1: well that doesn't work either, right, So it's like right,
• 25:19
Speaker 1: and you know, and whether it's your wife or team members,
• 25:22
Speaker 1: sometimes we'll get feedback right like I'm not sure about this.
• 25:25
Speaker 1: I have some different reservations and we're like, no, we're
• 25:28
Speaker 1: going to go. I've got the mission. This is going
• 25:30
  Speaker 1: to happen.
• 25:30
  Speaker 4: And we.
• 25:33
Speaker 1: Discount whether it's like our spouse or other team members,
• 25:37
Speaker 1: to our own peril. I agree, we have an ego
• 25:40
Speaker 1: where just we have you know, we're blinded. Quite honestly,
• 25:46
Speaker 1: I call us we're lying to ourselves. We're not living
• 25:48
Speaker 1: in truth. We're just kind of believing in you know,
• 25:50
Speaker 1: there's something that's further out there that really isn't accurate.
• 25:54
Speaker 1: And if we don't have a foundation and understanding and
• 25:57
Speaker 1: get back to the baseline benchmark, the truth of what
• 26:01
Speaker 1: it is. Everything else is kind of built on a
• 26:03
Speaker 1: house of cards. So I agree, right, I mean, so,
• 26:07
Speaker 1: I mean, but it is hard at times because it
• 26:09
Speaker 1: requires us to be humble. It acquires us to kind
• 26:11
Speaker 1: of put aside our you know, even though the ambition
• 26:14
Speaker 1: might be good, the way we're going to go about
• 26:16
Speaker 1: and how we're gonna get there needs to be adjusted.
• 26:18
Speaker 1: And it's like, okay, are you coachable or teachable? And
• 26:21
Speaker 1: I think that's really important too.
• 26:23
Speaker 3: Mm hmm, Yeah, I agree on it's and humility is
• 26:29
Speaker 3: its own meditation, if you will, no matter where you're
• 26:33
Speaker 3: at in your day, no matter where you're at in
• 26:35
Speaker 3: your week, or your month or your quarter.
• 26:37
Speaker 2: Rights business, we're talking about how are we doing? We're
• 26:41
  Speaker 2: Q two, it's we're halfway through.
• 26:43
Speaker 1: When we're recording this, but.
• 26:46
  Speaker 3: It's it's it's it's fascinating to me, David, that.
• 26:52
Speaker 2: There's nothing new under the sun. That it really is it.
• 26:55
  Speaker 2: I've I've worked.
• 26:56
Speaker 3: In so many businesses, in so many institutions, and there
• 27:00
Speaker 3: are those things that have become obsolete and you were
• 27:04
Speaker 3: talking about, you know, the person you're working with or
• 27:06
Speaker 3: interview that's in sustainability. You know, I work with with
• 27:11
Speaker 3: the gentleman who's on the smart city side, and and
• 27:14
Speaker 3: you know, future tech and things like that.
• 27:17
Speaker 2: And I think, you know, we're living in a time
• 27:20
Speaker 2: when certain things are going to become obsolete. And how
• 27:24
Speaker 2: many leaders, how many leaders are holding.
• 27:30
Speaker 5: On to old systems, in old ways and old mindsets
• 27:34
Speaker 5: and old tech because they think that that it's it's
• 27:39
Speaker 5: a need or they've never even asked the question why
• 27:41
  Speaker 5: are we.
• 27:42
Speaker 2: Still doing this right? Why why are we still using
• 27:45
  Speaker 2: this right?
• 27:47
Speaker 1: Well, I think I think to your point, well, on
• 27:50
Speaker 1: that is, there's a you know, we we like to stay.
• 27:54
Speaker 1: I think as a human being, as a change and
• 27:57
Speaker 1: our bally, our brains work. We don't like change just
• 28:01
Speaker 1: and it seems like change for change's sake, right, But
• 28:03
Speaker 1: it's not that. But even if it's not good, even
• 28:06
Speaker 1: if it isn't good, but it's known, right, it's known
• 28:10
Speaker 1: so energetically, I don't have to really think about it
• 28:13
Speaker 1: when we're when we have what they call disruptors, right,
• 28:15
Speaker 1: people I call I call the pioneer voice. They stick
• 28:19
Speaker 1: out in a good in a good way, but also
• 28:21
Speaker 1: to the world. Sometimes it's like, why are you messing
• 28:23
Speaker 1: with things? Why are you going around? Because they see
• 28:26
Speaker 1: or I call them the pioneers or creators, particularly in
• 28:29
Speaker 1: the five Voices framework, those folks are the ones that
• 28:31
Speaker 1: see possibilities now they need people to help implement them.
• 28:34
Speaker 1: They're not implementers. They need people to come alongside to
• 28:36
Speaker 1: help realize the dream and the vision. I like to
• 28:39
Speaker 1: use the story of Walt Disney and Roy Disney. Walt
• 28:41
Speaker 1: Disney is this great imagineer coming all these things with
• 28:44
Speaker 1: Roy is like, I'm actually going to follow and make
• 28:46
Speaker 1: sure this it's done. We need both, It's not, it's
• 28:49
Speaker 1: not all. And so what I think is there's resistance
• 28:53
Speaker 1: on if you're not emotionally aware whatever you want to
• 28:57
Speaker 1: call the emotional IQ whatnot. But if you're not aware
• 29:00
Speaker 1: of this and you can become frustrated, you can become
• 29:03
Speaker 1: walled off. Doesn't help. Everyone breaks down in the conversations.
• 29:06
Speaker 1: Everyone goes to their corners and they were like, we
• 29:09
Speaker 1: all lose. That's true, right, we all lose. So it's like, Okay,
• 29:14
Speaker 1: that's not the way, that's not the productive way to
• 29:17
Speaker 1: do it. But I mean, so understanding and appreciating each other.
• 29:21
Speaker 1: And I think that's what you do, Jeel, and a
• 29:23
Speaker 1: lot of your efforts and so many things. And I
• 29:25
Speaker 1: love I'm gonna tap onto your musical background for a minute,
• 29:28
Speaker 1: because you you're an amazing musician. But you know it
• 29:33
Speaker 1: is it's wonderful to hear a single guitar player go.
• 29:35
Speaker 1: But when you bring an ensemble together and they're all
• 29:38
Speaker 1: playing their parts right, and they know where to come
• 29:41
Speaker 1: in and where to come out, where to raise the volume,
• 29:44
Speaker 1: where to decrease the volume. What what a different experience?
• 29:47
  Speaker 1: That is, right?
• 29:47
Speaker 2: It's true, that's true. Now you you played, you played
• 29:51
  Speaker 2: an instrument, played.
• 29:55
Speaker 1: No, you played a flu flute, troumone played a few
• 30:00
Speaker 1: different things over there. I played a little guitar piano.
• 30:03
Speaker 1: But but to the to the point, I feel like, yo,
• 30:09
Speaker 1: I like that analogy, and I feel like that's why
• 30:11
Speaker 1: you again, why you work well with folks, because you
• 30:13
Speaker 1: understand that every part has it is important, right.
• 30:17
Speaker 3: And when when you figure out what your part is,
• 30:20
Speaker 3: either because you've chosen it or somebody chose it for you, you
• 30:24
Speaker 3: play your heart out, you.
• 30:26
Speaker 2: Work hard on it.
• 30:27
  Speaker 3: You know, there's there's a project that I'm working on
• 30:29
Speaker 3: right now, which it's it's going to be really fun
• 30:33
Speaker 3: when when it goes public.
• 30:35
Speaker 2: But but I have a lot of work that I have.
• 30:37
Speaker 3: To do before, and I'll continue to have work to do.
• 30:42
Speaker 3: But I think I think that gets to integrity, doesn't it.
• 30:45
Speaker 3: It's it's like, Okay, well you've chosen to do this,
• 30:48
Speaker 3: now you gotta are you going to choose to do.
• 30:50
Speaker 2: The best that you can do? Mm hm, you know,
• 30:52
Speaker 2: or you're just going to kind of do it?
• 30:54
Speaker 1: You know, you say when you say integrity, jewel I,
• 30:56
Speaker 1: I want to follow up with that with another word
• 30:58
Speaker 1: to you, you know, with ambition is commitment. What's your commitment?
• 31:03
Speaker 1: Because you know and I've been both been married for
• 31:06
Speaker 1: quite a long time, so we made a commitment early on.
• 31:10
Speaker 1: I don't think commitments hard early on. It's easy to
• 31:12
Speaker 1: commit early it is.
• 31:13
Speaker 2: It is when you're young and excited.
• 31:15
Speaker 1: And or whatever. The new thing is, right, I think, Hey,
• 31:19
Speaker 1: this is a new thing.
• 31:21
Speaker 2: Objects I'm going to go to this.
• 31:23
Speaker 1: And who talks about this. There's a few different people
• 31:25
Speaker 1: that talk about this, O Mosi, Gary V others. People
• 31:29
Speaker 1: that the entrepreneur moves to the new thing, they didn't
• 31:34
Speaker 1: stay committed to what they actually said they were going
• 31:36
Speaker 1: to do, and they're frustrated with why am I not winning?
• 31:39
Speaker 1: Why am I not getting there? And your point of
• 31:42
Speaker 1: an entire and integrity there.
• 31:44
Speaker 3: Can I can I share something from another coach by
• 31:47
Speaker 3: the way, yes, another coaches, but that that's that's why
• 31:50
  Speaker 3: I haven't met.
• 31:50
  Speaker 2: You have coaches.
• 31:52
Speaker 3: One of my coaches she told me this years ago,
• 31:56
Speaker 3: and basically she said that if something doesn't serve you anymore,
• 32:02
Speaker 3: whether it's personally or your family or business, you still
• 32:07
Speaker 3: have to finish it, even if that means cutting it out.
• 32:10
Speaker 2: That's part of part of finishing it as well. You know,
• 32:14
  Speaker 2: maybe you've got a strategic.
• 32:15
Speaker 3: Partnership that's not working for you anymore, you have a
• 32:18
Speaker 3: toxic relationship in the market. You cutting that out is
• 32:23
Speaker 3: getting it done, fetching the job. You shouldn't leave all
• 32:27
Speaker 3: these unfinished jobs out there.
• 32:29
Speaker 1: Yes, yes, you know.
• 32:31
  Speaker 3: And it's like, that's why I am a firm believer
• 32:34
Speaker 3: in taking an inventory, whether it's quarterly or even monthly
• 32:38
Speaker 3: or weekly, if you need to to to look at
• 32:41
Speaker 3: your life, your business life, your personal life and analyze
• 32:46
Speaker 3: it and say, okay, what needs to be cut?
• 32:48
Speaker 2: Does anything need to be cut? What needs to be added.
• 32:53
Speaker 3: And I think that's that's super valuable to do, and
• 32:57
Speaker 3: I think some people forget that piece.
• 33:00
Speaker 1: So funny you mentioned that, Joel, I just spent six
• 33:02
Speaker 1: hours last week with well fourteen other men going through
• 33:07
Speaker 1: our inventory. Interesting, working through it, you know, getting clear
• 33:12
Speaker 1: on it. What you know. That's one of the things
• 33:14
Speaker 1: I'm training with wake Up Warrior tools and other things,
• 33:17
Speaker 1: is like how to be clear on that because the
• 33:20
Speaker 1: drift happens. It's not if I use I use multiple tools.
• 33:23
Speaker 1: I've got my full focused planner in here too, right,
• 33:25
Speaker 1: you're a quarterly planner that I'm constantly, like, you know,
• 33:30
Speaker 1: looking at these things. Like you said, I like to say, Jel,
• 33:35
Speaker 1: what do I need to start doing? What I need
• 33:36
Speaker 1: to stop doing, what do I need to sustain doing?
• 33:39
Speaker 1: But if you don't make a decision, I think that
• 33:42
Speaker 1: that what's the amount that it takes on your brain
• 33:45
Speaker 1: because you're you're holding space for that somewhere and it's
• 33:48
  Speaker 1: not revolution right.
• 33:49
  Speaker 2: That's it. That's that's the piece.
• 33:52
Speaker 3: It's there's some element of whatever is unfinished that's in
• 33:56
Speaker 3: your mind and and it's stealing the energy and the focus.
• 34:00
Speaker 2: You need for whatever you really need to be doing.
• 34:04
  Speaker 1: Right.
• 34:04
Speaker 3: You know, at the end of the day, I talk
• 34:07
  Speaker 3: about A A files, B files and C files and
• 34:10
Speaker 3: C files you can just throw away and the B
• 34:13
Speaker 3: files might you know, because I'm super creative, that might
• 34:16
Speaker 3: be something that I massage you over time.
• 34:17
Speaker 2: But I've got to focus on the A files. They're
• 34:20
Speaker 2: the ones that produce the most capital. Reason.
• 34:22
Speaker 1: Yeah whatever that Yeah, that.
• 34:23
Speaker 2: Positive energy for myself and others.
• 34:26
  Speaker 1: No, that's that's true. There's a there's a More Sharing
• 34:30
Speaker 1: Ideas or one book I really liked years ago by
• 34:32
Speaker 1: David Allen called Getting Things Done g t D for short.
• 34:35
Speaker 1: But what what he calls it is like, yeah, those
• 34:37
Speaker 1: things that you need to get done, the things you
• 34:39
Speaker 1: can delegate, and he calls it whatever your C file
• 34:41
Speaker 1: or B file but someday maybe file. Like so if
• 34:44
Speaker 1: you want to hold on up for some reason, okay,
• 34:46
Speaker 1: just put it in that someday maybe.
• 34:47
Speaker 2: But you're really here, you know, scratching away your time.
• 34:51
Speaker 1: So you got to go through that inventory, like you said,
• 34:54
Speaker 1: and determined. You know what. Nope, I can toss that out,
• 34:57
Speaker 1: you know, And I think the clearer and the more
• 34:59
Speaker 1: simple we can do it, the better, and that also
• 35:01
Speaker 1: helps us stay Like you said earlier. I like the
• 35:04
Speaker 1: word integrity tied to commitment. Oftentimes we're out of integrity.
• 35:08
Speaker 1: We're not we said we were going to do something
• 35:10
Speaker 1: that we're committed to you, but we're not doing it.
• 35:13
Speaker 1: And unfortunately, you know where the we lie to ourselves
• 35:19
Speaker 1: more about these lives of not uh co mission but
• 35:23
Speaker 1: oh mission, we're not. We're not being truthful for with
• 35:25
Speaker 1: ourselves and we're kind of like making excuses and so
• 35:27
Speaker 1: when you do that, it perpetuates itself and then that
• 35:31
Speaker 1: that gets you off target. That definitely does where you
• 35:35
Speaker 1: want to go, right.
• 35:37
Speaker 2: Yep, it does, it does, and you totally lack peace
• 35:40
Speaker 2: at that point. Yes, you know, it's it's the it's
• 35:42
Speaker 2: the war within your mind. Yes, you're losing that. You
• 35:46
Speaker 2: don't have freedom, you don't have peace.
• 35:50
Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely, We've covered a lot here and I know
• 35:54
Speaker 1: we could go on and on joelting.
• 35:58
Speaker 2: On to talk about anyway, know right, well.
• 36:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm bitious, but really I think hearing from two
• 36:04
Speaker 1: men that are going through and like you said in
• 36:07
Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, trying to take care of living for
• 36:11
Speaker 1: those of you that not in California, different world, but
• 36:13
Speaker 1: California in southern California. We've had crazy weather events, We've
• 36:17
Speaker 1: had crazy you know, political things, you know, fres fires, homelessness,
• 36:24
Speaker 1: you know, we've just had a lot. And so how
• 36:28
Speaker 1: do we show up consistently with integrity, living out like
• 36:34
Speaker 1: I like, in a positive ambition to serve and lift
• 36:37
Speaker 1: up others. I hope as you're listening to this podcast

• 37:19

• 37:21
Speaker 1: table with a number of the other guests, but would

Speaker 1: love to have you come back and have a further
• 37:26
Speaker 1: conversation with you that as we're on a few key
• 37:30
Speaker 1: words that you know, my ambition to integrity, committment, entity,
• 37:36
  Speaker 1: What is it?
• 37:36
Speaker 7: What is it that you want to listener? That's technicism
• 37:39
Speaker 7: of your business owner. You're leading the team, he's just
• 37:43
Speaker 7: you and you're just making a way through this podcast.
• 37:48
Speaker 1: What is Senator David and Joel today? But what would
• 37:51
Speaker 1: you what would you leave a party of words or
• 37:53
Speaker 1: thoughts to consider your Joel.
• 37:56
Speaker 2: Ask yourself the question, am I living life on my turn?
• 38:01
Speaker 2: Am I living life on my terms? And live life
• 38:06
  Speaker 2: on your terms?
• 38:07
Speaker 1: And note, yeah, what are your terms? Determine those? We're
• 38:10
Speaker 1: gonna great, great question, great comments, great conversations. We're gonna
