- 0:05Speaker 2: Well, we are shaking off the weekend Toby and Chili
- 0:07Speaker 2: in the morning on 97.1 wash FM. Why are you
- 0:12Speaker 2: feeling good as we get into this brand new week?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Call us at 866-927-4361 or even better. If you're listening
- 0:19Speaker 2: this morning on your iHeart app and you're signed in,
- 0:22Speaker 2: you can use the talkback microphone.
- 0:23Speaker 3: That's fun. Try the tech.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Tap the talkback microphone and tell Chili and I what
- 0:27Speaker 2: it is that's bringing you joy this early morning. Chili,
- 0:30Speaker 2: I know you're probably in the afterglow of a successful
- 0:34Speaker 2: birthday party weekend.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Yes, my son is officially a teenager. He turned 13
- 0:39Speaker 4: yesterday and his party actually fell on his birthday.
- 0:43Speaker 5: Wow.
- 0:43Speaker 4: We had some of his friends, some new school friends
- 0:48Speaker 4: over at the Dave and Buster's. So they got to
- 0:51Speaker 4: play some video games, hang out. have cake, eat pizza. So, yeah,
- 0:56Speaker 4: I've got a teenager. Maybe a little bit later on
- 0:57Speaker 4: in the show, I can hear from some of our
- 1:00Speaker 4: listeners who've got teenagers about how your teen drives you crazy.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Well, you know, I can tell you as a former
- 1:06Speaker 2: teenage boy, Chili, one of four that my mom had,
- 1:11Speaker 2: all boys, I don't know, looking back in retrospect, how
- 1:16Speaker 2: she survived four years. of us becoming teens, but you
- 1:21Speaker 2: know what you're here this morning, which means you made
- 1:23Speaker 2: it through at least the last few days of having
- 1:26Speaker 2: a teen at the house. I'm feeling great this morning
- 1:29Speaker 2: because it's Halloween week and I never really look forward
- 1:32Speaker 2: to Halloween week, but, uh, maybe, uh, this week we'll
- 1:36Speaker 2: reveal a bit why, but it's kind of exciting. Um,
- 1:39Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to dressing up in a costume, uh,
- 1:43Speaker 2: that I've not done before.
- 1:45Speaker 3: It's kind of out of my character.
- 1:48Speaker 2: And so embracing new things on this Halloween week as
- 1:52Speaker 2: we go trick-or-treating around our office and scare people and
- 1:55Speaker 2: say boo to them and pull tricks. And maybe we
- 1:57Speaker 2: get a few treats out of the deal. I'm just
- 1:59Speaker 2: pumped about it. So should be fun. Let's get into
- 2:03Speaker 2: Halloween week, shall we? We need the news first. Top
- 2:05Speaker 2: stories at the top of the hour. Tilly, Amar, what
- 2:07Speaker 2: are you working on this early morning?
- 2:09Speaker 4: A new memorial opened over the weekend on the National Mall.
- 2:14Speaker 6: And I'll tell you who it honors coming up in
- 2:16Speaker 6: just a few minutes.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Well, the NFL pulled off its first ever game in
- 2:25Speaker 4: Paris amid widespread protests there over the high cost of
- 2:29Speaker 4: living and other issues. The Pittsburgh Steelers ended up beating
- 2:32Speaker 4: the New Orleans Saints 16 to 10 with no problems
- 2:35Speaker 4: reported yesterday. Thousands of folks took part in the 51st
- 2:39Speaker 4: Marine Corps Marathon in D.C. yesterday running through Arlington and
- 2:43Speaker 4: the district. Marine Major Kyle King won for the fourth time.
- 2:48Speaker 4: He finished in two hours and 17 minutes. while Colorado's
- 2:52Speaker 4: Kaylee Slade won the women's race. Alexandria police are asking
- 2:56Speaker 4: for help identifying a person of interest after graffiti reading
- 3:00Speaker 4: ice and report to deport was found along the Mount
- 3:04Speaker 4: Jefferson Park pathway. Investigators are treating it as an alleged
- 3:08Speaker 4: bias incident, and they're asking anyone with information to come forward.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Montgomery County Council has unanimously passed legislation that's aimed at
- 3:17Speaker 4: cracking down on scams that target seniors and vulnerable residents.
- 3:21Speaker 4: The move comes after an investigation found that Marylanders lost
- 3:24Speaker 4: more than $ 6 million to call center scams.
- 3:29Speaker 1: There is a new memorial.
- 3:30Speaker 6: It honors U.S.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Troops who served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm,
- 3:36Speaker 4: and it opened Saturday on the National Mall. The memorial
- 3:40Speaker 4: is near the Lincoln Memorial, and it honors those who
- 3:42Speaker 4: served in the 1991 Gulf War, including those who never
- 3:46Speaker 4: made it home. And with the midterm elections just over
- 3:49Speaker 4: a week away, a new survey finds that government corruption
- 3:52Speaker 4: is a voter's top concern, followed closely by grocery costs,
- 3:56Speaker 4: protecting democracy and gas prices tied for third. Forecast today, beautiful,
- 4:01Speaker 4: lots of sunshine. Highs again around 70. Right now, 43
- 4:05Speaker 4: in Annandale.
- 4:06Speaker 2: And that is your first look at the news this morning.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Toby and Chili's top stories at the top of the hour,
- 4:11Speaker 2: 97.1 Watch FM. Next news, right around 610-ish. Be here
- 4:17Speaker 2: and be informed with the news that really matters. And
- 4:21Speaker 2: if you're going through something that really matters to you,
- 4:24Speaker 2: and we may not know what it is, but we
- 4:27Speaker 2: know that you need to hear a little something that
- 4:29Speaker 2: might help you out with today, we've got you covered.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Your morning mindset. Hopefully these words will inspire you in
- 4:36Speaker 2: the next few. Halloween week begins Monday morning at 97.1
- 4:42Speaker 2: Wash FM with Toby and Chili in the morning. And
- 4:45Speaker 2: now it is time for us to talk about how
- 4:47Speaker 2: you're doing. This is something we call your morning mindset.
- 4:51Speaker 4: We find a quote and share it with you to
- 4:53Speaker 4: think about, maybe to inspire or motivate you, especially as
- 4:56Speaker 4: you start a new week.
- 4:58Speaker 3: This is going to be a good one. I believe it.
- 5:01Speaker 2: And let's start it with someone who we all, I think,
- 5:05Speaker 2: are familiar with if, I mean.
- 5:08Speaker 3: I think.
- 5:09Speaker 1: This is Fred Rogers.
- 5:10Speaker 2: We know who Fred Rogers is, and he's the guy
- 5:14Speaker 2: behind your morning mindset this morning. He says, I like
- 5:17Speaker 2: you just the way you are. I like you just
- 5:21Speaker 2: the way you are. The great Fred Rogers. Now, you're
- 5:25Speaker 2: probably going, tell me, why are you quoting Fred Rogers
- 5:29Speaker 2: on a Monday morning as we get into a brand
- 5:31Speaker 2: new week together? Well, because we spend a lot of
- 5:34Speaker 2: time thinking about what it is that we need to
- 5:36Speaker 2: change about ourselves.
- 5:37Speaker 3: We need to lose some weight.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Maybe we need to make a little more money, be
- 5:41Speaker 2: a better parent, partner, friend. Sometimes we forget that we're
- 5:45Speaker 2: worthy already of being loved and appreciated exactly as we are.
- 5:52Speaker 2: So don't focus on the things that you need to
- 5:54Speaker 2: fix today. Give yourself a little credit for the person
- 5:59Speaker 2: that you already are.
- 6:00Speaker 3: And remember what Mr. Rogers said.
- 6:03Speaker 2: It was so simple back then as kids when we
- 6:05Speaker 2: first heard it on his show. I like you just
- 6:08Speaker 2: the way you are. That's your morning mindset for this
- 6:11Speaker 2: Monday morning. Hope it helps. And if it does, tell
- 6:15Speaker 2: us about it. Find us on the Toby and Chili page, washfm.com.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Shoot us a message. In the meantime, on this Monday,
- 6:20Speaker 2: stay right there because in just a bit.
- 6:22Speaker 4: A new survey revealed that one in five Americans regularly
- 6:26Speaker 4: get their news, not from Toby and Chili's top stories.
- 6:28Speaker 6: No, but from TikTok.
- 6:31Speaker 1: So.
- 6:31Speaker 6: We are curious, though, where do you get your news?
- 6:35Speaker 3: That's right.
- 6:35Speaker 2: And by the way, you should get your news again
- 6:37Speaker 2: right around 610 because Chili's on top of it.
- 6:40Speaker 6: 866-927-4361 if you want to join the conversation.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Sounds like a commercial for CNN or something. One in
- 6:49Speaker 3: five Americans regularly get their news from this place more
- 6:53Speaker 3: than any other source.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Toby and Tilly in the morning. It's 97.1 Wash FM.
- 6:58Speaker 2: So where is the source?
- 7:00Speaker 3: TikTok. That's right.
- 7:02Speaker 4: And mostly younger Americans are getting their news from TikTok.
- 7:06Speaker 4: But that's nothing shocking, I don't think, because a lot
- 7:08Speaker 4: of folks are on social media every single day. And
- 7:12Speaker 4: that is where they are often seeing headlines.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yeah, massive between the ages of 18 and 29. our
- 7:19Speaker 2: colleagues and our contemporaries, Chile, it's not quite as high. However,
- 7:24Speaker 2: the fact that, you know, one in five Americans are
- 7:27Speaker 2: getting their news online tells you a lot about where
- 7:29Speaker 2: we are as a society.
- 7:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I mean, when I put together Toby and Chile's top stories,
- 7:34Speaker 4: I am going to specific websites, especially local TV stations
- 7:37Speaker 4: to get some local news. But if I wasn't doing
- 7:40Speaker 4: this for work, I have to admit, I'd get a
- 7:42Speaker 4: lot of my headlines just scrolling and seeing some other
- 7:45Speaker 4: news sites.
- 7:46Speaker 3: How many times have you heard? I saw this on TikTok.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Then I went down the news rabbit hole and I
- 7:52Speaker 2: confirmed it over on CNN or MSNBC or whatever. Insert
- 7:56Speaker 2: favorite news channel here. It's just it is what it is.
- 8:00Speaker 2: It's a sign of the times and it's a convenience
- 8:02Speaker 2: factor to 866-927-4361. But in Vienna, Brett, you're not so
- 8:09Speaker 2: much of a fan of social media being a news source.
- 8:13Speaker 3: I go to trusted news sources. Which one's your favorite?
- 8:16Speaker 3: Ground news is a good one. And he can't trust
- 8:19Speaker 3: social media.
- 8:20Speaker 1: So don't even bother.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Well, Brett, have a great day. Thank you for jumping
- 8:24Speaker 3: into the conversation.
- 8:25Speaker 2: You are not one of the one in five Americans
- 8:28Speaker 2: who gets their news from TikTok, I take it.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Thanks for the call. Now to Gaithersburg. Here comes Melinda.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I usually check a couple of news websites in the
- 8:37Speaker 1: morning while I'm having my coffee. Are you watching videos
- 8:40Speaker 1: or are you reading? I used to watch the news
- 8:43Speaker 1: on TV, but I got tired of sitting through all
- 8:45Speaker 1: the arguing.
- 8:46Speaker 3: That is my beef number one.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I was just telling Chili yesterday morning about how I'm
- 8:51Speaker 2: just over that.
- 8:53Speaker 3: And it makes it unwatchable to me.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I'd rather just read the stories myself.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I totally get that.
- 8:58Speaker 6: Same here.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Might I recommend you try listening to us for the
- 9:03Speaker 2: news with Toby and Chili's top stories at the top
- 9:06Speaker 2: of the hour. We've got you covered with that news
- 9:08Speaker 2: coming up at 610. Do you hear what I just
- 9:11Speaker 2: did there? Chili, give us a preview, please.
- 9:13Speaker 4: If you've got plans to go trick-or-treating on Halloween, you're
- 9:17Speaker 4: going to get a little extra time to collect those treats.
- 9:21Speaker 4: And I'll tell you why coming up.
- 9:22Speaker 3: If you had an extra $ 1, 000, you know, you don't
- 9:26Speaker 3: really have to use it to solve some sort of
- 9:28Speaker 3: problem in life.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Toby and Tilly in the morning, it's 97.1 Wash FM.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I'm going to spend.
- 9:32Speaker 3: It on Christmas.
- 9:34Speaker 4: And you can decide what to do with the $ 1, 000
- 9:37Speaker 4: workday payday. The keyword coming up at 9, 10 this
- 9:40Speaker 4: morning with Jenny Chase. When you hear it, enter it
- 9:43Speaker 4: at washfm.com.
- 9:44Speaker 2: What you do with it entirely up to you. Now,
- 9:47Speaker 2: Michael Jackson with Toby and Tilly in the morning.

- 9:56Speaker 1: top of the hour.
- 9:57Speaker 4: A runner from Virginia took the... men's title at the
- 10:01Speaker 4: Marine Corps Marathon yesterday. We've got the latest on that story.
- 10:04Speaker 6: And others on the way. With Toby and Chili in
- 10:07Speaker 6: the morning on 97.1 WASH-FM.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Ukraine is pushing back on Elon Musk's claim that its
- 10:18Speaker 4: military violated Starlink's terms by using it for deadly drone strikes.
- 10:23Speaker 4: A Ukrainian defense advisor says existing restrictions made those types
- 10:27Speaker 4: of attacks physically impossible. A Virginia runner took the men's
- 10:31Speaker 4: title at the Marine Corps Marathon. Kyle King from Montclair
- 10:36Speaker 4: finished in two hours and 17 minutes.
- 10:39Speaker 5: Meanwhile.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Kaylee Slade from Colorado won the women's race. Maryland State
- 10:44Speaker 4: Police are investigating an alleged road rage incident that involved
- 10:48Speaker 4: an off-duty ICE agent on the beltway in Montgomery County.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Troopers say a driver reported being cut off and brake-checked
- 10:55Speaker 4: Saturday morning, leading to a confrontation in which the agent
- 10:58Speaker 4: was allegedly pepper-sprayed.
- 11:01Speaker 7: D.C.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Metro could have fully driverless red-line trains as early as
- 11:06Speaker 4: 2033 on under a nearly billion-dollar plan. Supporters say that
- 11:11Speaker 4: automation could reduce delays and labor costs, but unions warn
- 11:15Speaker 4: that it raises safety concerns, especially during emergencies. A new
- 11:19Speaker 4: memorial that honors the roughly 700,000 Americans who served in
- 11:23Speaker 4: Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm has opened in D.C.
- 11:28Speaker 4: It's located near Constitution Avenue, near the mall. and was
- 11:32Speaker 4: officially dedicated Saturday, and it honors those who served in
- 11:36Speaker 4: the 1990 to 91 Gulf War. And trick-or-treaters are getting
- 11:40Speaker 4: a little extra time this Halloween because daylight saving time
- 11:43Speaker 4: ends over the weekend. Coming up, clocks falling back an
- 11:48Speaker 4: hour on Sunday, November 1st. Halloween also will fall on
- 11:51Speaker 4: a Saturday this year, and that's not going to happen
- 11:54Speaker 4: again until the year 2037 because of leap.
- 11:57Speaker 6: Years in between.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Forecast for today, lots of sunshine with highs around 70.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Right now, 43 in Hyattsville.
- 12:05Speaker 3: That's the news.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Remember, with Toby and Tilly in the morning, you get
- 12:08Speaker 2: your top stories at the top of the hour. Next
- 12:10Speaker 2: look at news right around 710 this morning. Give us
- 12:14Speaker 2: a call at 866-927-4361. Have you ever experienced a medical misdiagnosis?
- 12:22Speaker 2: This has been in the news because of something that
- 12:24Speaker 2: happened to someone that we know from TV. big news
- 12:28Speaker 2: last week. So we're going to talk about this coming up.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Why don't you join us?
- 12:32Speaker 3: Again, that's 866-927-4361.
- 12:33Speaker 2: It was big news last week.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Toby and Tilly in the morning, 97.1.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Wash FM at 866-927-4361. Christina Applegate, a medical misdiagnosis and
- 12:48Speaker 2: everyone was talking about it.
- 12:49Speaker 4: So she on her podcast called Messy revealed that She
- 12:53Speaker 4: recently found out that she was misdiagnosed with MS for
- 12:56Speaker 4: years now, I think since 2019. She has been fighting
- 13:00Speaker 4: what she thought was MS, as she calls her body
- 13:03Speaker 4: failing her. And hearing that it wasn't MS was a
- 13:06Speaker 4: gut punch because now she doesn't know what is going on.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Back to square one.
- 13:10Speaker 2: How many times have we been to a doctor who's
- 13:13Speaker 2: told us one thing and then you go to get
- 13:14Speaker 2: a second and maybe even a third opinion and then
- 13:16Speaker 2: two out of the three don't agree with the primary
- 13:20Speaker 2: or the first opinion?
- 13:21Speaker 3: You know, I mean, it happens.
- 13:22Speaker 4: It is so frustrating and I know a lot of
- 13:24Speaker 4: people have been through it. So we were wondering, is
- 13:27Speaker 4: there something that you were misdiagnosed with?
- 13:29Speaker 2: The number is 866-927-4361 to jump into the conversation. Good morning,
- 13:35Speaker 2: Jess in Alexandria City.
- 13:38Speaker 5: Well, when I was a kid, I had really bad
- 13:41Speaker 5: pains in my abdomen. I was misdiagnosed by my own
- 13:46Speaker 5: mother with period cramps and it turned out to be appendicitis.
- 13:50Speaker 4: Okay, Jess, I think the first mistake was trusting mom
- 13:53Speaker 4: to do the diagnosis. I'm glad that you got the
- 13:56Speaker 4: help you ultimately needed.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Hey, little Donato, remember that. Don't trust mom when it
- 14:01Speaker 3: comes to health stuff. Say, get me a doctor, a
- 14:03Speaker 3: real doctor.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Go to the internet before you go to mom to
- 14:05Speaker 4: just make those assumptions.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Well, Jess, thank you for the call. And we hope
- 14:09Speaker 2: that everything is good in your life right now. So
- 14:12Speaker 2: tell us about a medical misdiagnosis that you experienced. We're
- 14:15Speaker 2: talking about it this morning and you can jump in
- 14:17Speaker 2: at 866- 927-4361. Have you ever experienced a medical misdiagnosis?
- 14:26Speaker 2: Gotta hear from you this morning at 866-927-4361. Monday morning
- 14:31Speaker 2: here at 97.1 Wash FM with Tilby and Chili in
- 14:34Speaker 2: the morning.
- 14:34Speaker 4: And this is all coming up because last week it
- 14:36Speaker 4: was a huge story where Christina Applegate revealed that she
- 14:40Speaker 4: actually was misdiagnosed with having MS and now she's back
- 14:44Speaker 4: to trying to understand what really is happening with her health-wise.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Lots of people telling us their stories on Instagram and Facebook.
- 14:51Speaker 2: You can chime in there or you can give us
- 14:52Speaker 2: a call. Like Max, good morning in Bethesda. So what happened?
- 14:56Speaker 7: I had a severe stomach ache.
- 14:58Speaker 3: I went to the doctor, the hospital.
- 15:00Speaker 7: The ER. They said I had appendicitis. They said my
- 15:03Speaker 7: appendix was swollen and they removed my appendix.
- 15:06Speaker 3: And then later I found out. that I had just been.
- 15:09Speaker 7: Leaning against the counter really hard that day and I
- 15:13Speaker 7: had just pushed on it and it was actually just
- 15:15Speaker 7: inflamed from being sore and I didn't actually need to
- 15:18Speaker 7: get my appendix removed.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I have so many questions.
- 15:21Speaker 4: And I am so glad for you that we can
- 15:24Speaker 4: survive without that organ, but dang.
- 15:27Speaker 7: I basically got my appendix removed for no reason just
- 15:29Speaker 7: because I have bad standing posture.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Could have been a lot worse. Could have been a
- 15:34Speaker 3: lot worse. The moral of this story is.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Sit up, kids.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Sit up.
- 15:41Speaker 2: 866-927-4361 to join us or tap the talkback microphone if
- 15:43Speaker 2: you're signed into your iHeart app listening and you want
- 15:45Speaker 2: to comment away about a medical misdiagnosis.
- 15:49Speaker 3: In Fairfax, Jason, what happened? Wasn't really... And what was
- 15:53Speaker 3: the remedy for that? Is that it? Because that would
- 15:54Speaker 3: just bother me. Way to trust your gut, your instinct, man. Yeah,
- 15:56Speaker 3: because that is a serious misdiagnosis. You needed a stent?
- 15:58Speaker 3: I mean, okay, that's way.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Past stress and anxiety. Thank God.
- 16:24Speaker 2: It seems like everything's worked out for you. And thanks
- 16:27Speaker 2: for the call there, Jason. So tell us about a
- 16:30Speaker 2: medical misdiagnosis you had. Use that talkback microphone. It's wide
- 16:33Speaker 2: open for you because I know you're listening on your
- 16:35Speaker 2: iHeart app and you're signed in. So why don't you
- 16:37Speaker 2: tell Chili and I your story? In the meantime, stay
- 16:40Speaker 2: there because speaking of stories, top stories at the top
- 16:42Speaker 2: of the hour, your next look at the news.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Is it 710? Chili, what's going on?
- 16:47Speaker 4: Are you pretending to be happy at work? Well, if
- 16:50Speaker 4: the answer is yes, you certainly are not alone. I'm
- 16:53Speaker 4: going to share the results of a recent survey coming
- 16:55Speaker 4: up in just a few.
- 16:56Speaker 2: My significant other really wants to go see Pentatonix when
- 16:59Speaker 2: they come to town, CFG Bank Arena, December 3rd.
- 17:02Speaker 3: We got tickets thanks to Live.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Nation, and you should experience what they do at Christmas.

- 19:47Speaker 3: What is it?
- 19:47Speaker 5: 866-927-4347.
- 19:50Speaker 3: It?
- 19:50Speaker 7: 866-927-4361.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Have you judged somebody for something? Well, what was it?
- 19:53Speaker 2: It might be the answer. And you could be off
- 19:55Speaker 2: to see Pentatonix, CFG Bank Arena, Baltimore, December 3rd. Thanks
- 19:58Speaker 2: to our friends at Live Nation. Here comes the question
- 20:01Speaker 2: again for you.
- 20:02Speaker 4: 60% of people say they have secretly judged someone based
- 20:06Speaker 4: on this.
- 20:07Speaker 6: Now, it is something that somebody... owns okay.
- 20:10Speaker 2: What is it all right 866-927-4361 call get it right
- 20:17Speaker 2: pentatonix tickets waiting for you to take them with toby
- 20:21Speaker 2: and chili in the morning you're nearly impossible questions on.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Toby and Chili's Nearly Impossible Question.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Pentatonix, Baltimore CFG Bank Arena in December, and you could
- 20:33Speaker 2: be there to get festive as the season starts if
- 20:36Speaker 2: you know the answer to the question, which, by the way,
- 20:39Speaker 2: here it is one more time.
- 20:40Speaker 4: 60% of people say they've secretly judged someone based on this.
- 20:45Speaker 6: What is it?
- 20:46Speaker 2: 866-927-4361 is the number.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Hi, this is Kevin from Silver Spring.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Welcome, Kevin from Silver Spring. You got the question for
- 20:55Speaker 2: the tickets to see Pentatonix. What is your guess? I
- 20:58Speaker 2: think it's based on the car that they drive.
- 21:00Speaker 3: A car. You judge people based on their hoopty.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Yes.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Have you ever been judged by your whip or have
- 21:10Speaker 4: you judged others by it? Yes.
- 21:12Speaker 3: And if so, what happened?
- 21:15Speaker 4: Would say yes and yes i have been judged and
- 21:19Speaker 4: i have judged oh you mean the brand or the
- 21:22Speaker 4: type they drive or the interior mess of.
- 21:24Speaker 1: It um that i've been judged on the interior mess okay.
- 21:28Speaker 3: That i've judged other people for brand.
- 21:31Speaker 8: Oh elite mr kevin over here all right he's got
- 21:34Speaker 8: his car is just a hot mess inside of it
- 21:37Speaker 8: but hey if you're driving some sort of hoopty he's
- 21:40Speaker 8: not down with you as.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Long as they can't see inside i'm fine That's right.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Extra tent. Very dark.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Well, you're going to have to clean that car because 60%
- 21:49Speaker 4: of people have secretly judged someone based on their vehicle.
- 21:52Speaker 4: That means you're going up to Baltimore to see Pentatonix.
- 21:55Speaker 8: Oh, that's fantastic.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Thank you very much. Which means you're going to have
- 21:58Speaker 3: to drive. So you and whomever you go with need
- 22:00Speaker 3: to enjoy a nice, clean ride as you make your
- 22:03Speaker 3: way up 95.
- 22:05Speaker 5: All right.
- 22:05Speaker 3: So I got some time to clean the car before.
- 22:07Speaker 8: Awesome.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Well, you get on it and enjoy Pentatonix. Congratulations from
- 22:13Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Thank you very much.
- 22:15Speaker 3: I appreciate it. And you could.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Grab tickets to Pentatonix tomorrow morning after Toby and Chili's
- 22:19Speaker 2: top stories at the top of the hour. 710-ish with
- 22:23Speaker 2: another round of your nearly impossible question. Stay right there
- 22:27Speaker 2: because in just a few.
- 22:28Speaker 4: We've got a story that we think will make your Monday.
- 22:31Speaker 4: There's a new play space in Greenbelt that is giving
- 22:34Speaker 4: kids experiencing homelessness something every child deserves.
- 22:39Speaker 6: And that is a chance to be just as good.
- 22:42Speaker 2: I think it's always a good thing to start a
- 22:43Speaker 2: brand new week with a story that really does make
- 22:46Speaker 2: your Monday. Toby and Chili in the morning at 97.1
- 22:49Speaker 2: Wash FM, and that's what we try to do every
- 22:52Speaker 2: week right around this time and this morning. We want you,
- 22:55Speaker 2: if you will, for a second to imagine being a
- 22:57Speaker 2: kid who's just lost your home. You're living in a shelter.
- 23:01Speaker 2: You're dealing with so much uncertainty, and you're a kid.
- 23:04Speaker 2: This is overwhelming. Sometimes what you need most is just
- 23:07Speaker 2: a chance to be a kid. That is the idea
- 23:10Speaker 2: behind the Playtime Project. It's a local nonprofit that's been
- 23:13Speaker 2: helping children who are experiencing homelessness for more than 20 years.
- 23:17Speaker 4: This all started back in 2003 when founder Jamila Larson
- 23:21Speaker 4: visited a D.C. shelter, and she saw the kids living there.
- 23:24Speaker 4: living among rows of bunk beds, but they didn't have
- 23:26Speaker 4: any toys or real space to play. And she knew
- 23:29Speaker 4: that these kids needed more than just donations. They needed
- 23:31Speaker 4: someone to actually sit down, play with them and give
- 23:34Speaker 4: them a little joy in the middle of a really
- 23:36Speaker 4: tough time.
- 23:37Speaker 2: And since then, the organization, well, they brought play programs
- 23:41Speaker 2: into shelters, to schools, community centers. Now they're taking a
- 23:45Speaker 2: huge step forward. They just opened their first permanent play
- 23:48Speaker 2: space over at Beltway Plaza in Greenbelt. It's 800 square
- 23:52Speaker 2: feet for play with books and toys, a play kitchen, snacks,
- 23:57Speaker 2: even a cozy little reading corner.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Now, the goal is to give these kids a little
- 24:02Speaker 4: bit of normalcy while giving parents a chance to take
- 24:05Speaker 4: care of other needs. Because no matter what a family
- 24:08Speaker 4: is going through, every child deserves a safe place to laugh,
- 24:12Speaker 4: make friends and simply just play.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Be a kid.
- 24:14Speaker 2: And the kid in all of us thanks you, Jamila.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Thank you for looking out for these kids who are
- 24:20Speaker 2: going through a tough time. What you're doing for them
- 24:23Speaker 2: and their families, Jamila Larson. Saying thank you just doesn't
- 24:26Speaker 2: seem like it's enough. It's a story that makes our Monday.
- 24:29Speaker 2: We hope that it's made yours too. And if you
- 24:31Speaker 2: want to read it again because you might want to
- 24:33Speaker 2: share it with somebody, find it. Toby and Chili page
- 24:35Speaker 2: at washfm.com. Get it on Facebook and Insta as well.
