- 0:02My wallet is sobbing. I can hear it.
- 0:04I can hear it in the hall now. It is breaking down crying.
- 0:08It turns out that Attila the arrogant so and so he's got a
- 0:12fake hammer. Oh.
- 0:13A fake? Yeah.
- 0:14Whoa. As I say, Dick.
- 0:18Welcome to episode 134 of the Allegiance Podcast.
- 0:23And this week we're going to talk about our exclusive scopes
- 0:27for Allegiance Can 2025. A lot of them this year because
- 0:33eh, Rich went crazy and eh, we get to there.
- 0:37And then we're also going to eh as a kind of parallel to that
- 0:42and talk about Rich's dog faction.
- 0:44What are they called? Rich the dogs.
- 0:47Eh, the the actual factions called the Lichen leagues, but
- 0:50they're the canine companies within that.
- 0:52OK, so I'll change on my fine names now.
- 0:54I just had those, those bloody dogs.pdf and stuff.
- 1:01No, they are very cool. As you, as everyone.
- 1:03We'll see. And man, how are you?
- 1:06I'm good, I'm good. Yeah.
- 1:09Yep. Man, you win a match recently or
- 1:12at the weekend? Yeah.
- 1:13But by the time this has gone out, we probably lost again.
- 1:18I mean, I mean, yeah, it was a great result for the weekend.
- 1:27And you had a little hand in designing our big exclusive or
- 1:33our large exclusive items? I did something I'll talk about
- 1:39a bit later, but yeah, I mean, it is very similar to some art
- 1:44that he's out there already, but.
- 1:49We don't need to worry about that.
- 1:50You know it's the. Concept.
- 1:51Yeah, well, yeah, it's different.
- 1:53Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely. And eh, I didn't have much hand
- 1:56in any of these, although I did have some feedback on the big
- 1:59item eh in relation to its arse. So I just leave it with that.
- 2:05The big. Thing that makes.
- 2:06The unique selling. Point is the.
- 2:08Arse. We should say that reveal right
- 2:10to the very end of the show, so everybody has to listen all the
- 2:12way through it to find out what the ass is, Yeah.
- 2:15Even through all your dog bullshit.
- 2:17Even through all my dog stories, yeah.
- 2:22Right, right, radio. And we had all the excitement
- 2:26last week, so that was fun. So we're going to take you back
- 2:29down to Earth with the a little bit of a.
- 2:32No, our stuff we can. We're going to raise the
- 2:34excitement even. Further into order our.
- 2:36Yeah, further into order is. Getting available allegiance
- 2:39con. Only getting.
- 2:41John Sound. Exciting.
- 2:45And we're going to do a couple a couple more episodes, eh,
- 2:48related to allegiance Con in the run up.
- 2:50I mean, that's obvious enough for our show.
- 2:52Hopefully a guide to legions Con kind of beginner's guide.
- 2:56And we're going to have some first timers on as well.
- 2:59Another episode to talk about their excitement for the first
- 3:02time and we're going to try and, I don't know, pop their balloons
- 3:05in terms of excitement or ramp it up even further.
- 3:08I don't know. What do you think, Rich?
- 3:11Uh, I met up with the said people a couple of weeks back in
- 3:14person and I think I did both of those things.
- 3:16So yeah. You should.
- 3:18Probably. How did you how did you pop the
- 3:20balloon? Sorry.
- 3:22Umm, we don't need to discuss it here, OK?
- 3:27So you told them about smell in A room?
- 3:30Yeah, no, but Mal snoring did come up in conversation.
- 3:36Oh, that is, that is classic. Because I'm the only one who
- 3:39snores obviously out of US 3. You were just first to bed that
- 3:44night. You were trying to come in there
- 3:51but rudely cut you off. But have we?
- 3:54Have we ruined it now? I said you were trying to come
- 3:58in there. Oh, I don't.
- 4:00Know I was going to say if anyone came into that room and
- 4:02hurt us all they'd wonder what was they think it was the end of
- 4:05the world or something wouldn't they they.
- 4:09Would think they would think there's a plastic avalanche
- 4:11happening in the room. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:14That's the last day, isn't it? Be like during the during the
- 4:18crime at night with all the snoring and then the next
- 4:21morning was just the the remnants of the crime and
- 4:23there's plastic. Everywhere.
- 4:25Like what were they doing here? What were they doing here?
- 4:29I recently got my Cosmic legions ox cruise.
- 4:33Of course they did. The only right thing was to put
- 4:35a bride fighter's head on the Thraxian.
- 4:38So. Absolutely defiled that figure.
- 4:43And then? Bride fighters.
- 4:44Yeah, I know. It's terrible.
- 4:46I find it shouldn't be in Cosmic really.
- 4:48This little guy is a fun as heck as well.
- 4:51Yeah, I still need to open him, I think.
- 4:54Of ours, so good and I didn't think I'd ordered any extras.
- 4:58And then I got an e-mail from a retailer that I normally don't
- 5:01use and it obviously had the best prices, so I have six more
- 5:07than I have to pay for. Wow, which ones?
- 5:10Did you get? I got an over 2 traxions and I
- 5:20got Kern Ray twice I guess for the parts and the soft goods.
- 5:26And did I get 2 overs then? No, I got another What?
- 5:31What other one did I get one more Caloria?
- 5:36No, wasn't those oh another OK, because he's so unique.
- 5:43Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. So and probably what I would
- 5:46have still got so I'm happy with that, but I've.
- 5:49Got I've got a Kern Ray and athraxian and I thinking of the
- 5:53skate back pre-ordered and I was getting after I was going to
- 5:57leap on and buy more. I was like they'll have them at
- 5:59legions con. I'll wait till then and pick up,
- 6:03you know, and that's. What I would have said to my
- 6:05past self, yeah, considering I have dollars, you know, in my
- 6:09safe that, you know, could be spent instead of the money in my
- 6:14bank account that's now going to have to be spent. 12 to get
- 6:19dollars yeah I'm. Going to be both.
- 6:22So I ordered, I've told you guys, I ordered three more from
- 6:24Emporium 2 veil locks and an over just because we weighed
- 6:29them, didn't we? And they were like twice the
- 6:30weight of a normal figure. It's like, well, that's going to
- 6:32take up suitcase space or wait. So I've got to, I've got to get
- 6:35these in advance. So nerdy.
- 6:40Yeah, it's a fine thing. You've got to like Chris
- 6:43everything, you know? Yeah, like shows where they've
- 6:47got like, you know, the genius and there's just lights going
- 6:49off in his head and he's doing all that.
- 6:51That's me basically with suitcase organising and packing
- 6:54stuff. Yeah, I mean, but it wasn't that
- 6:57We're going to talk grammes now. So as apologies to anyone that
- 7:02uses the much more logical answers and and and pounds and
- 7:06stuff. And it was 170 grammes, I think
- 7:11a standard Fisher Rise figure by weight and over was nearly 400
- 7:18grammes. Yeah, I think it's 9060.
- 7:19Or 370 or something. Yeah, yeah.
- 7:21Yeah. And Veloc was, Veloc was very
- 7:25similar, maybe, maybe the same. So yeah.
- 7:29And then you have all the accessories and stuff.
- 7:31I mean, you know, some of them come with a lot of accessories.
- 7:34So I think that is a good way to save weight in the in the
- 7:38luggage, you know, and that's, I weighed a box as well.
- 7:40It's a half a kilo as a box. So you know.
- 7:45But yeah, that's getting heavier then.
- 7:47If you consider, you know the suitcase limit is what, 23
- 7:51kilos? 23 kilos, yeah.
- 7:53That's a you're. Gonna get 46 home.
- 7:56It's ridiculous. Plus your clothes and all that.
- 7:59Like, you know, clothes, even if clothes can you lack even if you
- 8:04unbox them, you would never get like you'd think you'd think you
- 8:08could fit 1015 figures in your bag wouldn't make much weight
- 8:10difference. You know it's going to push your
- 8:13way over the left there unless you're going with an empty bag
- 8:16basically and you stink for the whole weekend.
- 8:21See ya look OK, I'm listeners guys that are rinsing after
- 8:28underpants in the sink. I don't ask what they're doing
- 8:33in between waiting for it to dry right.
- 8:39We get on to the main event because otherwise they'll get
- 8:43very deep red. So EUR legions legions con 2025
- 8:49exclusive scopes. We had two last year.
- 8:51We were we thought we were Billy big balls with our two awesome
- 8:57head scopes. You know, I did one, worked with
- 9:01from prop masters and Mal did one and yeah, it's all good.
- 9:06And then eh Rich came along this year and said hold my beer.
- 9:10Yeah, I've got a problem. No yet say that.
- 9:12Yeah. That's basically what it is
- 9:14though, Mal. Yeah.
- 9:15It's like, you know, I could do 2 or and hear me out here.
- 9:20Well, we still were, you know, a couple of months ago, we were
- 9:22still at the OK, let's do that big piece and we'll do an
- 9:26alternate version of it and then we're good.
- 9:29And then we said, I have an idea for some head sculpts maybe, you
- 9:33know, and we. Started off with six and then
- 9:37all of a sudden the dog bug bit me so that we had another 6 so.
- 9:43What happens if you don't get them muted?
- 9:48So all sculpted by Gianluca Cicarello, Italian sculptor and
- 9:56and commissioned by us. So one or the other of us worked
- 10:00with Gianluca to get these. And at Legions Con, all of the
- 10:05prints will be done by our friend Anthony Hassil from Toy
- 10:10Forge. I think you all know me.
- 10:11If you're familiar with Legions Con, Legions community.
- 10:15Anthony is a great customizer and printer as well.
- 10:20Does loads of 3D printers, printing stuff.
- 10:23So it's great that he's able to do that for us because that
- 10:27saves us transporting all this stuff.
- 10:30So you're minimising the breakage, you know, of the
- 10:33Anthony still has to bring it from home, but you know, it's a
- 10:36couple hours drive as opposed to airports and all that kind of
- 10:40stuff. Hearing sharing baggage
- 10:42handlers. Absolutely.
- 10:46And some of the ones here are printed and painted by Mark
- 10:53Calvo because Rich kind of got him to do them so he could have
- 10:58some painted versions to show and yes, the his own collection.
- 11:02Yeah, so the 12 head sculpts are all printed and painted by Mark.
- 11:07So Mark has been busy boy. And so let's get on with it.
- 11:12We're going to start with the dogs, which have been recently
- 11:16posted by you in the Cabal and all the different places, Rich.
- 11:19So we're just going to talk about the sculpt here and then
- 11:22get a circle back around at the end and do the whole dog faction
- 11:26story. So the first up, it's one of my
- 11:29favourites is the pug. So where did this come from,
- 11:35Rich? What was the inspiration behind
- 11:37this? This one was inspired by
- 11:38something I saw online actually ages ago.
- 11:40And it was a somebody done a handful of drawings about dog
- 11:45soldiers of various types, And one of them was a pug wearing a
- 11:48hood. I think he was meant to be an
- 11:51Archer. And I was like, oh, that's quite
- 11:52a good idea. And I always just sat in the
- 11:53back of my mind for ages. And then when I finally decided
- 11:56to do some dog sculpts that ping back forward again, it was like,
- 11:59yeah, here we go. But I love the fact, you know,
- 12:02just the massive, bulging eyes, a little tongue sticking out.
- 12:06It's, you know, it's a sweet character.
- 12:10He's very cute. I mean, I definitely want this
- 12:13one. You know, I'm definitely going
- 12:15to get one of these even for myself, not just to paint and,
- 12:19you know, said left the next convention or whatever.
- 12:23So I really like a man with your Yeah, we use juice to both
- 12:28cuteness. I help us.
- 12:30This is this is joint favourite of the of the whole Yeah.
- 12:35And I will be picking one of these up as well.
- 12:38Yes, I think I might have to get a few a few more of these
- 12:40printed and the other ones potentially had a lot of a lot
- 12:43of positive feedback about the pug.
- 12:45That's brilliant. That's brilliant.
- 12:47And just to say, yeah, just to say in these pictures here and
- 12:51these are your own custom versions, so you're not selling
- 12:54these. Yeah, no, these on sale, these,
- 12:56these are just the ones in my own collection.
- 12:57Yeah. They'll be mostly unpainted.
- 13:00I'm trying to get a couple printed locally just to paint,
- 13:04but it'll be one or two and maximum of anyone and and that's
- 13:11even if I get the time, but I'm going to try and not all of them
- 13:14just to go a couple of select ones.
- 13:16So and otherwise, yeah, it'll be unpainted versions.
- 13:20And if you're a painter, brilliant.
- 13:22And if not, you can find someone nearby to paint it or someone in
- 13:27any legions con. If you like, Yeah.
- 13:31So, John, I'm just going to say, if you really like the sculpts,
- 13:34just buy them and painted from us.
- 13:35Wander up to mark Caldo's table, hand in the sculpt and some
- 13:39cash, and I'm sure we'll paint them up for you.
- 13:41Yeah, it's in demand. Or, you know, that's and that's
- 13:43what lots of people do. They have their favourite maybe
- 13:46customizer painter and they buy a couple of unpainted ones and
- 13:51bring them over and say, you know, after legions gone, when
- 13:55you're back at home, can you paint them in your time and send
- 13:58them on to me, you know, pay either pay legions gone or pay
- 14:02afterwards. But it makes it easier.
- 14:05Yeah, I should say as well with all the dog pictures, they've
- 14:09got some really cool tab odds. These aren't ours.
- 14:13These are ones that Joseph Connors, who's the same Smith on
- 14:16Instagram made for me. So he, he often has sales in the
- 14:20cabal. And then I bought a few and then
- 14:23contacted him and said can you put some sigil, Yeah, tabard
- 14:25sigil things on them if I send you the ideas sort of thing.
- 14:28So yeah, that's where a lot came from.
- 14:30So did he? Did he make the shapes?
- 14:34I sent. I found the shapes online.
- 14:36OK. Send them through to him and
- 14:37then he did whatever magic he does.
- 14:40Cut them out and I suppose, I suppose it's like they do
- 14:47T-shirts. Isn't it a bit like that?
- 14:48I think some. Sort of heat, heat up.
- 14:51Transfer very cool so umm yeah so we didn't get into tablets.
- 14:56Maybe next year we'll have some only.
- 15:01Only four of us starts, you know, habitatry course or
- 15:04something like that ourselves. Yeah, Chow chow then.
- 15:12This is a cool one as well. Yeah, so I was, I was the idea
- 15:18behind this was there was one particular dog breed, which
- 15:21we'll get to later, which I or two really that I really wanted.
- 15:25And then the others, it was like, what's a cool looking dog?
- 15:29And if we do any more of these in the future, I might, I might
- 15:31Chuck a couple of what's a popular breed in, you know, to,
- 15:35to get people, you know, keen and exciting.
- 15:37Outdoor red setter I've. Already had somebody mentioned
- 15:40me. And have you got a Labrador in
- 15:41the series? Like I don't.
- 15:42I'm sorry, no. No, I'm done.
- 15:44Sorry. No, yeah, the ironic thing, that
- 15:48was another house seal. So, you know, one house seals
- 15:50very happy printing these out. One house seals not happy
- 15:52because there's no Labrador. Yeah.
- 15:56So the the chow chows are just amazing dog for anyone who
- 15:58hasn't seen him pull up some pictures online.
- 16:00They're just huge. I mean, the big dogs anyway.
- 16:02And the fur balls, just massive furballs.
- 16:05So it's like, OK, yeah, that's really cool.
- 16:07And there's like, but what else can I do to make him?
- 16:09Oh, sorry. Well.
- 16:10I was just going to say they look like dog shaped bare heads
- 16:13don't they? Cuddly toy based on shaped?
- 16:16Yeah. And I was like, what can I do,
- 16:18though? I don't want him to cuddly
- 16:19because he's a warrior. What can I, you know, what can I
- 16:22do to make him a bit bit more hardcore?
- 16:25So he's got an eye patch. He'd lost an eye in battle, but
- 16:28it's still, you know, fighting on and slaying people left,
- 16:32right, centre. Yeah, I think the eye patch
- 16:36definitely gives some interest to him because that's the only
- 16:40thing about this type of a sculpt in in 3D printing, it's,
- 16:44it's hard, especially unpainted to see the the detail with the
- 16:49fur, You know, it just looks like a big lump of fur.
- 16:51So having something like the eye patch really breaks it up.
- 16:53It's nice. Just almost to highlight where
- 16:56the other eye is as well sort of thing because they are so furry.
- 16:59If you look in a facial like I see a nose, but where the Hell's
- 17:01his eyes? And painters are always happy
- 17:04they only have to paint one eye instead of two minutes.
- 17:06It's always a bonus, isn't it? But no I love this guy.
- 17:10I should say with the tab arts too, it's the the dog sigil on
- 17:13the tab arts is the same as the breed on each one.
- 17:17Hopefully that's obvious to people, but if in case it's not
- 17:19sort of thing so. And the colours?
- 17:21Anything specific with the colours for you or just?
- 17:24No, again, I just see, I Google image searched Chow Chows and
- 17:29you know, they're all brownish, you know, orangey brown,
- 17:34generic. But there was a particular one
- 17:36that stood out as like, that's a cool colour scheme.
- 17:38So yeah. OK, and the tabard colours.
- 17:42Tabard Colours was it was based on what Joseph had for sale.
- 17:47But I, I upset my 13 year old child by sitting it down and
- 17:50going right which colour Tabards would work well best with a chow
- 17:52chow and with a pug and with her and she's just like, Oh my God.
- 17:57So we went through and we came up with ideas about which ones
- 17:59we thought would work well. Brilliant father and daughter
- 18:04activity. Why not?
- 18:06Yeah, she was cursing me, but she took, you know, took full
- 18:08part, bless her. Then she helped with the
- 18:10colours, the colour of the sigil to go on the tabard as well.
- 18:12So she was fully involved in this and then she named them.
- 18:14So all the names in the stories that I'm going to read later are
- 18:17all her work. Oh brilliant.
- 18:18Nice. OK.
- 18:21My favourite I think after the pug is the Saint Bernard St.
- 18:26Bernard Yeah, it's I had, I had to get one of these guys.
- 18:29They're, they're such an iconic dog, particularly with a little
- 18:32barrel under their chins. So anyone that doesn't know
- 18:35they're they're rescue dogs, like Alpine rescue dog dogs.
- 18:39And quite often having sort of liquid, often alcoholic in the
- 18:42barrel underneath their chin is like a, you know, we found you
- 18:45here, let Brandy or something warming up a bit and then the
- 18:48dog will drag you back out of the snow.
- 18:50So, so I had to go for that sort of pic, that sort of look.
- 18:53And some Bernards are lovely dogs, really lovely dogs.
- 18:57Yeah, yeah. And the paint job here by Mark.
- 19:01Marks I didn't realise until I asked him to paint these.
- 19:04Mark's a dog trainer. That's what he does for a
- 19:05living. Right.
- 19:09Which I had no idea at all until he.
- 19:12Mentioned it, he was like I knew.
- 19:14You live in. I was like, no.
- 19:16I knew he worked with animals in some capacity.
- 19:19I didn't know exactly what, but I knew he worked with animals
- 19:23because we talked about it briefly.
- 19:25Legions gone, but it was, you know, in the one of those
- 19:29scenarios where was late at night and drink involved and you
- 19:33know, it was loud. That's my excuse.
- 19:36I. Particularly like doing the
- 19:41story for this guy because he's a drunk in the story and he's
- 19:44got a battle around his neck and that sort of thing.
- 19:46So it's like, you know, just just just go with it.
- 19:49Yeah, I perhaps you didn't read your stories because I knew you
- 19:52were going to do them on the show tonight.
- 19:54And so I wanted to be surprised myself.
- 19:57Excellent, so you might stay awake from then John as well,
- 19:59rather than not enough. Yeah, well, as I said to you, I
- 20:02have. I have my little chocolate here
- 20:05that I didn't get to eat earlier because I was so busy.
- 20:07So I'm waiting for your stories to kick off so I can put my
- 20:11volume off and eat on camera. So Saint Bernard 10 out 10
- 20:19Basset Hound Basset Hound Welsh colours on the on the table.
- 20:24Yes, that wasn't accidental, even though the Basset Hound is
- 20:26a French dog. Yeah, when I saw the green and
- 20:30white is like, well I've got to go for red as the tabard as the
- 20:33sigil colour rather on the tabard.
- 20:34That's a no brainer. Also, the the helmet that he's
- 20:38wearing is based on a French military helmet as well.
- 20:41So I was trying to give them something that was, you know,
- 20:43vaguely similar to where they came from.
- 20:45Because it also works with the IT works with the height, the
- 20:48length of the dogs. The dog is quite a long and
- 20:50especially with the ears it gives it an elongated head and
- 20:54that kind of helmet just seems to fit with that style head.
- 20:58Yeah, umm, again, I picked the Basset Hand A, because they're
- 21:01awesome dogs and B, just because they're cool looking with those
- 21:04giant ears. So it's like, what can I do
- 21:05That's that's a bit different. I don't know, someone could buy
- 21:08one of these and paint it like a Bloodhound if they wanted to,
- 21:10or, you know, other similar breeds you can do that with,
- 21:13with these sculpts sort of things.
- 21:14So yeah, I love him. Yeah, yeah.
- 21:20I mean, no, I'm not. I'm not a big Basset Hound fan,
- 21:24dog wise anyway, so it's cool. Rich's, he's Rich's custom is
- 21:29very good and Mark's paint is incredible.
- 21:32Yeah. But I don't mean John.
- 21:33It's not just a standing straight up pose either.
- 21:35He's got a. Little bit of.
- 21:37Little bit of action, Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
- 21:40Yeah. Are these barky dogs?
- 21:44I've never owned 1, so I don't know.
- 21:46Whenever I've seen Mountain about, they've always been
- 21:47quiet. It's weird that they're really
- 21:51chunky dogs, but they've got tiny little legs.
- 21:54So yeah, it's like a walking, you know, walk cleaner sort of
- 21:58thing. Yeah.
- 22:02Was it? I think it started off as a
- 22:03comic strip, but it was also a cartoon at one point called Fred
- 22:07Bassett, which was about a Bassett hound.
- 22:09I remember that as a kid. I.
- 22:11Recognise the name? Yeah, I don't remember the the
- 22:13strip, but. Same.
- 22:16Yeah, I'm a cat person, but I do like dogs.
- 22:20As long as they're not the yappy, yappy barky ones.
- 22:23Then then I like. Borrow those type of dogs, yeah.
- 22:27Yeah, yeah. I don't see you get what people
- 22:29see in them. It's it's more the shape and I
- 22:32can imagine the barking gets annoying, but it's more, Oh
- 22:34yeah, the way they look. Yeah, a lot of them are quite
- 22:36short furred as well. They're usually smaller as well,
- 22:39of course. Yeah.
- 22:40Yeah, yeah, yeah, I like. Lumps.
- 22:43Although we have two cats, I'm very, very much a dog person.
- 22:46Sorry, cats, wherever you are. Yeah, I remember.
- 22:49That from when you were. Young, yeah, I've been
- 22:50desperate, desperate to have some dog scorps and there's a,
- 22:53you know, there's a couple and one of those will be shown later
- 22:56on, but. OK, last.
- 23:02No, second. Last.
- 23:03Second. Last.
- 23:04So this is my joint favourite and this is the one that started
- 23:08all really. So it's a Rottweiler.
- 23:11So all the way through childhood, from about 12
- 23:13onwards, my parents had dropped violence.
- 23:14They've had four different ones in total.
- 23:18Gorgeous dogs, like really lovely dogs.
- 23:21I'd happily ever write by myself.
- 23:23We won't get one because my wife's only 5 foot ones.
- 23:25The dog could be as tall as her, but fabulous dogs.
- 23:29So it's like, right, OK, I want to write Viola but I want him
- 23:31wearing a military helmet. And then that sparked everything
- 23:33else. So again, German breeds.
- 23:36So I googled German, ancient German military helmet sort of
- 23:41thing, and this is the sort of look that a couple came up as.
- 23:43So it's like, yeah, that works. And Mark did AI mean Mark did a
- 23:47fabulous job on all the paint, all the paints.
- 23:49But this is absolutely spot on. And when I said to Mark I was
- 23:52getting some dogs, then he was like, Oh yeah, maybe I have to
- 23:55do a rot by the one event. She was like, dude, there's one
- 23:56of those, don't worry. And he was just like.
- 24:01I love the ears sticking out of the helmet.
- 24:03Yeah, that's yeah, it's a bit like the poggery with his ears
- 24:06sticking out of the the hood sort of thing.
- 24:08It's just that a little extra element.
- 24:09Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I love this one.
- 24:13You know, he's a he's a no nonsense guy, This fella, he.
- 24:16He got a good reaction as well from the posts.
- 24:19Yeah, they've all had good reactions actually.
- 24:22Possibly had the most. Chow had the least reactions I
- 24:24think so far and the Pogue's definitely been the the biggest
- 24:28reaction drive, but they've all had really good positive
- 24:30responses. Probably, probably the Chow.
- 24:32Chow is the least but even then somebody said they're going to
- 24:34buy one and paint up as like their next door neighbours Chow
- 24:36Chow and give it to them so. And.
- 24:43Then my other joint favourite, So yeah.
- 24:46So I love Dashens. My wife and daughter curse me
- 24:52because whenever we see one, wherever we are, I'll point to
- 24:54it and shout Dash Sausage Dog really quite loudly.
- 24:58If we're in a shop, if we're out walking, wherever sort of thing.
- 25:01And they're like, Oh my God, he's so embarrassing.
- 25:04If I'm by myself, I do it and then I'll message you and go
- 25:06have you shout a sausage dog and they're like, we don't care.
- 25:09Do the owners ever react to no? They haven't actually.
- 25:14Yes, I wanted, I wanted a dachshund.
- 25:17These are my favourite types of the the the sort of short haired
- 25:19dachshund and you know, it's similar colours to Rob Bila.
- 25:23So again that that works well for me.
- 25:26But I was like, I can't, I can't have him just as little dash and
- 25:29he's got to be give me something different about him.
- 25:31So it's like big hat, big hat for a little dog.
- 25:34What can I do? And then it was like a witch
- 25:36finder's hat. Yes, here we go.
- 25:39So yeah, I had a little think about that some Googling fun
- 25:43sort of look that worked for it. Excuse me.
- 25:46And there he is, a little witch Finder and he is tiny because
- 25:50I'm like, when people see this, the story we're going up, but
- 25:53it's not going up yet. But it's using the Wolfkin
- 25:56customs, hands and feet, the gnome hands and feet.
- 25:59So it's just the normal thing about taking off at the knees
- 26:02and the elbow basically. And then those put on, I'm
- 26:04painted by me. I did some painting.
- 26:07What did you paint? The feet, hands and feet.
- 26:09Oh, did you good man? It's extremely.
- 26:11Basic. It's just basic Brown but.
- 26:13It works. That was my lunch break today.
- 26:16Wow, good job. And I love your custom,
- 26:21especially here. This this would have sold me on
- 26:23the skull, the sculpt. You know, if I was kind of oh, I
- 26:26can get maybe two or three of these, but not them all.
- 26:30I would I wouldn't have picked this guy until they see the
- 26:32customer. Now I'm like, oh, that's so
- 26:34cool. And imagine with the so well,
- 26:36the the Burris build now the the gnome.
- 26:40Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 26:42Yeah, so the so I did the poke on a dwarf body so it was a
- 26:46little bit bigger just because I wanted that sort of chunky look
- 26:48to it. But for the dashing they had to
- 26:50be tiny. So yeah, Wolf King customs hands
- 26:52and feet that you swap on to make it Diddy and then it's it's
- 26:57partly a swig base then had a cloak that was done for a dwarf.
- 27:01So you can probably see in the bottom corner there have folded
- 27:04over a little bit because it was too long.
- 27:06He's such a short character. Even a dwarf cloak was too long
- 27:08for him. And then the the chest piece is
- 27:12from Lord of the Rings. A toy goes Lord of the Rings
- 27:14figure. Oh, OK, I just cut that off and
- 27:17with a bit heat and a bit stretching it goes round.
- 27:20That's also nicely. Excellent.
- 27:24Yeah, maybe, maybe the next step with these is to make over scale
- 27:29versions of a couple of them. What sausage dog?
- 27:33An ogre scale sausage. Dog.
- 27:35Yeah, or a nightmare. Be amazing.
- 27:39Rottweiler might work, you know. It might work.
- 27:42Yeah. Yeah.
- 27:44But I love, I love this guy and the story.
- 27:45I'm really happy with the story for him, too.
- 27:47So we'll enjoy it later. We're back.
- 27:49Around to the dog's stories soon, but I'm just going to say
- 27:53this. Is my joint favourite with the
- 27:54pug and from the minute Rich showed us the sculpt originally
- 27:59with the the witch Finder hat I was like that's brilliant.
- 28:02I love the little witch Finder hat.
- 28:04The witch Finder idea is so cool.
- 28:06I think it really helps Customs. Awesome.
- 28:09Thank you. Yeah, but I think it really
- 28:10helps it just like it's, you know, it's not just a little
- 28:12dog, it's a little dog. The back story.
- 28:14Yeah, it's cool. Very cool.
- 28:17Yeah, this these past the my wife test, which is basically,
- 28:23she's not a collector, you know, she she thinks finds it cool but
- 28:28isn't really into it as such, except for Dragons.
- 28:31But she saw these and instantly went well.
- 28:33They're awesome, you know? Yeah, although she did tell me
- 28:35often I'm in a greyhound, so I'll bear that in mind for next
- 28:39year. Right Next Hammerhead.
- 28:45So yeah, so that was the end of the end of the dogs.
- 28:48So these next six were the first six I did before the dog.
- 28:50I did. It's popped into my head.
- 28:52So we've shown this on the show a couple of times before, but
- 28:54the, the the the two sharks are based on prehistoric sharks
- 28:58because there's quite a few shark sculpts out there.
- 28:59So I wanted to do some a bit different.
- 29:03So this one, I can't remember the shark species it's called
- 29:05that's annoying, but it's, it's a shark that had at the dorsal
- 29:10fin. So halfway down the back, it had
- 29:12a flat top with a couple of ridges on it, but basically a
- 29:15flat top, which is just really weird and nothing.
- 29:18You don't see anything like that nowadays.
- 29:19So I moved that forward to the top of his head and that
- 29:23together with a tonnes of very sharp teeth.
- 29:26I think it looks really good. And on this picture, if anyone
- 29:29were looking it's it's it's on an azar.
- 29:31Well the flesh is an Azar yellow sort of thing, but obviously you
- 29:34know, paint it grey like a normal shark and it look amazing
- 29:36as well. Yeah.
- 29:40Yeah, I think you can either go this way, you know, kind of
- 29:43funky colours, whatever colours you want I suppose, or the
- 29:47xenothon body is also great for doing, you know, kind of more
- 29:51realistic sharks. As you know, John haven't
- 29:54painted a Yeah me recently. I've done, I think I've done 3
- 30:00or 4 heads for the Xenothon paid match.
- 30:03I don't think I've done it the same way each time because the
- 30:11sculpture different see and there's weird shading on that's
- 30:14anything body that that you have to try and have tried it a few
- 30:18different ways and still not 100% on which is the best, but
- 30:24they all look OK. So yeah, shark then.
- 30:29But this is a this is a very particular type of shark.
- 30:32I mean, we have talked about these two on the show before, I
- 30:35think. But we have, yes.
- 30:36So this is a species called an Edestus shark, another
- 30:39prehistoric 1. And what makes this one really
- 30:42cool and really interesting is that rather than have the teeth
- 30:44go around the outside of them, you know, around the edges of
- 30:46the mouth, like all animals do, it's got its teeth just go down
- 30:49the middle of its mouth. So right down the middle of the
- 30:53tongue. Yeah.
- 30:54So right down the middle on the top and the bottom.
- 30:57And there's the row of teeth that way, sort of thing.
- 30:59So this sculpt with his mouth open and roaring really shows
- 31:02that off really well. And then it's got some like
- 31:05scars, like down the side of his head as well.
- 31:07I totally can't help thinking that when they found this fossil
- 31:10that like, the lower jaws had just been squished together, you
- 31:15know, you see, like the artist's rendition, you're like, there's
- 31:17no way that works. There's no way that thing can
- 31:20eat. Are you arguing with science,
- 31:24man? Come on.
- 31:26There's actually a weirder looking one again than these two
- 31:29and that will be, I'll get that one done next year.
- 31:32Maybe not just be for me, but yeah, there is a weird 1 again.
- 31:37Well, I mean, if anyone ever has weird and wonderful ideas and
- 31:40you don't think anyone's ever gone to Commission them, you
- 31:42know, like run them past. Rich, you never know your luck.
- 31:47No, there's so much money I can spend.
- 31:50Yeah. I mean people, I think anyone
- 31:52that's listening to the show knows the sort of stuff I like,
- 31:54so they wouldn't be surprised by a the dogs, the sharks, the
- 31:58stuff we're going to see in a little bit sort of thing.
- 32:00You know, I've said they're the sort of ideas I like to see lots
- 32:04randomly, no lizard people, which is not like me.
- 32:06But everything else I talk about basically.
- 32:09Isn't they're relying on you horsemen?
- 32:11Yeah, no pressure. And there we go, the little what
- 32:16is in track scene. Yeah, it's great little that's
- 32:20good Rock Pharaoh. Yes.
- 32:23So this is, I was, I was looking for, I think he was, yeah.
- 32:30It was like Egyptian skeleton tomb king like, well, I'm a tomb
- 32:33king sort of thing. A couple of years ago, the prop
- 32:36masters are going to do me a couple of scopes and they did
- 32:38some lovely ones. And I came across this
- 32:41particular website, I think it was Croc minis or something like
- 32:43that, it's called, where they had just bonkers ideas and they
- 32:47had like a range of like four or five different designs of rock
- 32:50people, but in Egyptian outfits. So, so this this isn't like
- 32:55directly lifted from that, but it was inspired by that.
- 32:58So basically it's a rock man with, you know, a big like
- 33:03pointy pharaoh style beard, proper pharaoh headdress and
- 33:08then a giant sort of towering thing coming out the top of his,
- 33:12his head headdress sort of thing.
- 33:17It's awesome. I absolutely love it.
- 33:19So John Lucca did a fabulous job on this, the way the way the
- 33:24rock patterning is like, I left that to him.
- 33:25And it also almost looks a bit like the thing sort of thing as
- 33:27well, the way it's the way it's done and.
- 33:32Remembering, remembering Game Game of Thrones, there was this
- 33:35disease called grayscale that they could get.
- 33:39Yes. I think Jorah Mormont at some
- 33:43point, and the young, Was it Stannis's young daughter at it?
- 33:50Yeah. And then I just stop it.
- 33:52This. This is what they end up looking
- 33:54like, I think, once it kind of fully breaks out.
- 33:58So that's what it reminded me of, anyway.
- 34:01So I put this one, I'm not showing this on the cabal yet,
- 34:04but I might have done when this comes out because they're all
- 34:07prepped and ready to go. But I just use Zenith and body
- 34:10and then some Anubis parts as well sort of thing and I think
- 34:14it works really well. Looks great.
- 34:15So it looks really good. And I finally got a chance to
- 34:18use my Egyptian dio back piece as well for.
- 34:21The last I've had that for about 12.
- 34:23Months and I'm not add anything to take a picture on it with SO
- 34:25finally. Got it's going to say who took
- 34:27this picture because I've never seen you with that dio.
- 34:30But no, it's I was, well, I was sorting out the display room for
- 34:34the umpteenth time the other week and I was cursing to wife
- 34:36going, I've got this, I've got this Strawberry castle thing and
- 34:38I always use this, but these are like Egyptian.
- 34:40And then I turned around and was like, and I've got an Egyptian
- 34:42one over there. I completely forgot about it.
- 34:44It's been in the corner for 12 months.
- 34:48Rich rich byes Dios forgets about them.
- 34:54Yeah, basically I've got another one I commissioned to be made
- 34:56that I've not shown yet, which is amazing.
- 34:58It's like a church. It's fabulous.
- 35:01But I'm just terrible at showing these things.
- 35:02So, yeah, but no, this is this is I love this.
- 35:05You know, it's, it's a fun sculpt.
- 35:07You like your Egyptian stuff. You can do some of them with it
- 35:09if you like rock people. You can do some of them with it
- 35:11if you like both Happy days. Yeah, ancient warrior then kind
- 35:18of along the same theme a little bit A.
- 35:20Little bit, yeah. So I I love my ancient history.
- 35:23I think I've said before that's what I studied.
- 35:24That's what my degrees in study at university.
- 35:29And there's a race that we're in what's modern day like Syria,
- 35:33Iraq, Iran, like 600 BC called the Assyrians really powerful
- 35:41culture for 5-6 hundred years and then they disappeared pretty
- 35:43much overnight. But they've got a lot of their
- 35:46artefacts that were some people would say looted, some people
- 35:49would say collected by British people while in the area 100
- 35:53years ago. And there's a big display, yeah,
- 35:57in the local museum here in Bristol.
- 35:58They've got some big displays and like the statues have got
- 36:02these sort of heads sort of thing.
- 36:05So it's like, so I've been wanting to do something around
- 36:07this sort of Syrian culture for a long while.
- 36:11And then again, so the way it's painted by Mark on the left
- 36:13here, incredible job again. There was a statue that had that
- 36:17sort of mossy colour to it and and that's all bronzy type look
- 36:23to it sort of thing. So I wanted on painted like that
- 36:26for a set of figures that I've got.
- 36:27But obviously you just paint it a normal human colour and normal
- 36:29bearded colour and you've got, yeah, you've got a normal sort
- 36:34of Middle Eastern themed warrior stuff with.
- 36:38Yeah, this, this paint job, it's, it's not patina, but it's
- 36:41the kind of it's, it's what patina is to a different type of
- 36:45material. So if you know what I mean.
- 36:47So this thing was obviously not metal, maybe it was clay or
- 36:50something. And this is the kind of
- 36:53weathered way that that that that material ends up.
- 36:56It's kind of more greenish brown mussy and he said.
- 37:00I should say at this point too, and I forgot to say at the
- 37:02start, that if anyone buys any of the unpainted ones from from
- 37:05US Allegiance Con, there is a Richard Jones drawing of each of
- 37:11these that will and you'll get the drawing of which I've had
- 37:13you buy 3 as part of the purchase.
- 37:16Like a really crap certificate of authenticity, isn't it?
- 37:19Yeah, Basically, yeah. My drawing of this one is
- 37:22particularly bad, like really quite bad.
- 37:26So that will be a good one for someone to have in their
- 37:28collection. It's like because awesome
- 37:29sculpt. And then there's this
- 37:30horrifically badly drawn next to it.
- 37:35Are you are you printing these all at home or are you getting
- 37:37them professionally? Printed.
- 37:38Oh no, I just, I got some card. I shove that in the printer and
- 37:41do it at home. This might take your your
- 37:45luggage way over. Well, hopefully I'll get rid of
- 37:48more while I'm there. So coming back it'd be fine.
- 37:51I did last year, then I was with some some big good John.
- 37:54He's yeah. Look out for Look out for a pile
- 37:59of of these that have been near you and the Hanover Married Agps
- 38:05track. Tag each one of them so I can
- 38:07follow people like. That's by the bin, but you
- 38:09should be in the bin. What the So what happened to
- 38:14these Assyrians that they got to just wiped out pretty much
- 38:17overnighter? They just, it was bad, bad
- 38:21management, I think it's fair to say.
- 38:23And then the powers started rising, and then, yeah, they
- 38:27just didn't last. Like Man United.
- 38:29What was that for? I didn't even, I didn't even do
- 38:37that up. That just happened.
- 38:39There's no need, I'm sorry. It'll.
- 38:42Give some, it'll give Thomas play a laugh.
- 38:44You know, such a nice guy Island Warrior then so.
- 38:50Yes, So this is very cool. This is the one where Mark
- 38:53messaged me, You know, he's like, it's an amazing sculpt,
- 38:58but the way you've asked for it to be painted, that's lots of
- 38:59little colours. Yeah, FU Rich is basically what
- 39:03isn't. It.
- 39:04Yeah. Yeah, he could have done a much
- 39:06plainer paint job and he looked amazing still.
- 39:09But no, me being me, I was like, can I have this really complex
- 39:12paint job? I hope he chose you more for it.
- 39:15He didn't bless him because he's a lovely man.
- 39:17Wow, Beers for America allegiance, Yeah.
- 39:21So this is based on a Sri Lankan tribal mask from a long, long,
- 39:27long time ago. But I've called it Island
- 39:30Warrior because, I mean, a Sri Lanka is an island.
- 39:32It's a very Big Island, but it's an island.
- 39:33But I could sort of see this being one of the Pacific islands
- 39:36that have this sort of thing as well or, you know, that sort of
- 39:39stuff. So it's it's the typical sort of
- 39:42like shouting face that you might see Maori culture or
- 39:46something like that with a tongue sticking out, lots of
- 39:48pointed teeth like horns coming out of the side, big bulging
- 39:53eyes. And then this one, as you can
- 39:55tell, the part of the world it's from has then got 3 Cobras
- 39:57coming out the top of this as well.
- 40:00Yeah. It's really, and this would have
- 40:02been like a wooden mask they'd have worn in the day sort of
- 40:06thing. So you could have just said my
- 40:07painted up like wood. You know, I could have done, but
- 40:13you know, I thought, give me a challenge.
- 40:15He likes his painting. He does.
- 40:17Yeah. Well, he did.
- 40:19He rolls to the challenge and it's great.
- 40:21So the snakes almost look realistic here.
- 40:23Or, I mean, they do look realistic, yeah.
- 40:25They're amazing, aren't they? My drawing of this one's quite
- 40:27bad as well, actually thinking about it, and it took me about
- 40:29an hour to do last night. It was ridiculous.
- 40:32It's not so many little lines. It's like, oh God, yeah.
- 40:36And. Saying to my.
- 40:37Wife, it's like this is the this is the first and last year that
- 40:39I gave out drawings of each of these things.
- 40:43And Gianluca? Did an incredible job here.
- 40:47Fabulous. All the scopes are brilliant.
- 40:49Yeah, credit to John Luke, he's did such a good job on on all
- 40:52and he's really open to feedback.
- 40:53So, you know, most people get really annoyed if I kept saying
- 40:55to them, can you make the Rottweilers, you know, speak,
- 40:58just drop a little bit, did a little bit further.
- 41:01But he was great about it all so.
- 41:04And thanks for letting me know that this was a wooden mask,
- 41:07because I think I'm going to get one of these printed and
- 41:10painted. So that's a much easier paint
- 41:12job than you do something like this Zombie Pharaoh.
- 41:20Yes. So this again, anyone that's
- 41:22listening to me talk about any of this sort of stuff.
- 41:24I talk about masks, I talk about Egyptian stuff, I talk about
- 41:27undead stuff. So a zombie pharaoh had to be
- 41:29done. Again, this is one of these
- 41:32things I sent, I sent John Lucas three different pictures of
- 41:36zombie Pharaohs going right. Can I have the headdress from
- 41:38that one and the face and the beard from that one?
- 41:41But can the side of it be from this one?
- 41:44And he's just like, OK, yeah, that's fine.
- 41:47We did a great job. So, yeah.
- 41:48So basically it's like a proper zombie face.
- 41:51The the nose is gone, his mouth open screaming.
- 41:55He's got your little pharaoh beardy thing going on there.
- 41:58A fairly plain headdress on the side.
- 42:02This one is I've had painted red because I'm going to use a red
- 42:05cloak with it. I just can't find my mask of the
- 42:07Red death at the moment to use that cloak, but that's what be
- 42:10on it. And then again, the way the it's
- 42:14an ornate headdress because it's got big jewel in the middle and
- 42:17like diamond shapes and that sort of stuff.
- 42:18But I deliberately went for it to be painted in a fairly down
- 42:22tone colour because and you wanted to use it with scaphoid
- 42:24parts. So it's got like tarnished gold
- 42:27look and then the blacks as well.
- 42:30There's a couple of cool ideas I saw whether it was gold and
- 42:33black for the sort of undead ferro look as well.
- 42:35So I love this one that absolutely love it.
- 42:39It's so good. Very cool and those are zombie
- 42:44parts then from they. Are they're then they'd build a
- 42:46pack, yeah, stuff with a scaphoid armour and then
- 42:50Anubis's longcloth. So a fairly easy build, but I
- 42:54think it looks. Really good.
- 42:55Yeah. It's effective for sure.
- 42:58Absolutely. Yeah.
- 42:59So this is another cool one and a lot of detail and.
- 43:03If you like this early in the new year, I'll be putting a few
- 43:06more of these sort of things that I've already got, I just
- 43:09haven't photographed and nothing with.
- 43:12Right now we're at the the big one for us, so.
- 43:17Yeah, yeah, that was Rich's stuff.
- 43:22Now for the big pressure. So that was 12 head scopes, but
- 43:28what about this guy? Yeah.
- 43:31It's the dire haggis, so yeah, so think direwolf.
- 43:37What a haggis. Yes.
- 43:38So I can't remember how it was start.
- 43:41I feel like we discussed the idea of doing a companion type
- 43:45character this year for our exclusive piece and I think very
- 43:50quickly I was like, well, there's so haggis is actually a
- 43:56food, isn't it? It's a Scottish food for anyone
- 43:58who doesn't know. I'm sure there's a fair few of
- 44:01the American friends who are listening who are aware of that.
- 44:04But there is also a gag in Scotland that haggis is a little
- 44:09creature that you don't see very often.
- 44:12So of course if we were going to make a companion piece that was
- 44:14a haggis, it was going to be tiny.
- 44:18So I think that's where dire haggis came to mind.
- 44:20I was like, well, a dire haggis, like a dire wolf would be bigger
- 44:24and I think I googled that as an out of interest to see what what
- 44:28was about and I was through it. There's a picture that appeared
- 44:32that is was like that is awesome.
- 44:35That's a cool idea. And.
- 44:38My fault wasn't anything. This is very similar.
- 44:41However, we got a piece done, didn't we, that was fully furred
- 44:47and you guys were like, oh, how would he look like with so he's
- 44:51got because the haggis as well. He's basically a, a, a it's a
- 44:57sheep's. It's like interesting.
- 44:59And it's, yeah, it's stuff, but wrapped in a sheep's stomach.
- 45:03So you know everything anyone thinks about the UK and and
- 45:07British. Food, land food and that sort of
- 45:10stuff. Although it's not bland, it's
- 45:11actually. This is not bland, no, but it's
- 45:14but. It's, you know, grey sort of
- 45:17just awful. He's a haggis and it's often
- 45:21eaten and Burns not well, he's eaten all the time in Scotland.
- 45:24But on Burns Night is particularly, and I think it
- 45:26might even have been around Burns Night that this all came
- 45:29about, which is why I was like, oh, haggis.
- 45:31And but then yes, I showed you the designs that with the full
- 45:36fair and I think it was you John, wasn't it?
- 45:38And Rich, to be fair, was well. What would he look like if he
- 45:41was more haggisy at the back? Yeah, I think my, I think my
- 45:46point was, and I was, I felt bad, bad.
- 45:50After all the work he's saying was like, how can we tell he's a
- 45:53haggis? You know, other than you just
- 45:55tell me he's a haggis. I wanted people to be able to
- 45:58say. Oh, what makes that say what?
- 46:00Is that? Yeah, that's a haggis, Yeah.
- 46:02Yeah, which which is yeah. And and I must admit I wasn't
- 46:05sure what I was a bit like, oh, not sure about that.
- 46:09But we were a democracy out we. So I went back to General
- 46:12because like good guys want to try this and he came back with
- 46:15this and he's like, actually, that's freaking awesome.
- 46:20And Jan Luke has actually said he this is his favourite of the
- 46:23two as well. He's really pleased with this
- 46:25one. And the 3D printers are much
- 46:28more in favour of this one as well.
- 46:31Easier. Print less texture here, but
- 46:34yeah, so this is what we came up with and this will be and he's
- 46:39I'm really pleased with it. I'm really pleased with the
- 46:41other version. I think it's just a fun
- 46:45companion character based on a bit of a daft story.
- 46:49And then yes. So we show we we'll get you here
- 46:51at the end that shows the scale and yes, in relation to 1.2
- 46:55figure. And here is the furry one.
- 47:00Yes. And full fur.
- 47:02Yeah, we're doing this as it says on on the top here.
- 47:04We're going to limit this one, aren't we?
- 47:06And it's probably a good idea because, as I say, it's quite
- 47:08similar to the picture that and yeah, but this will be giveaway
- 47:17for various things. We'll work out what we're doing,
- 47:19won't we, nearer the time. And and yeah, very cool, but
- 47:25it'll be unpainted. They'll all be unpainted, won't
- 47:26they give away 1? So whoever might win them in for
- 47:30whatever we make them do just to make it sound obvious can paint
- 47:35it themselves however they want. Yeah, exactly.
- 47:38Whatever. We make you do won't be as dark
- 47:40as when Mal made it sound. No, that's what I say.
- 47:43That's what I said about it sounding ominous.
- 47:45It won't be. It'll be more fun than anything.
- 47:48Yeah. So to be clear, this one, the
- 47:51Haggisi looking once the sale, that's the one that's going to
- 47:54be for sale. I mean it's still limited like
- 47:56because we don't have haggis unlimited supply of this, yes,
- 47:59yeah. And then this is very limited
- 48:01only in giveaways. So either on the show or
- 48:04allegiance gone, Yeah, giving away a couple and that's the
- 48:08only way that we're going to be given that one out.
- 48:11So if this one's your favourite, sorry, but you might be.
- 48:14OK, folks, Yeah. You never know.
- 48:18Yeah, we should say that with all the sculpts, Well, you know,
- 48:20there is limited stock obviously because.
- 48:22Yes. You know, we're not a 3D
- 48:24printing company, so yeah, you know, if you want any of these,
- 48:27come to us early. Absolutely.
- 48:29Yeah. Yeah.
- 48:30To guarantee it at least. Yeah, right.
- 48:34And then a couple more. So Anthony actually painted up a
- 48:37couple of these for us so that we could show them off painted.
- 48:40So that was really awesome of them.
- 48:41I think he did a great job here. He did fantastic.
- 48:45The Haggisi looking 1 you can see the little bits of texture.
- 48:47It even looks like a. Yeah, it does show somewhat,
- 48:51yeah. Just in the sculpt and obviously
- 48:54Anthony has painted it the same way.
- 48:56So awesome. The fur one.
- 48:58Of course, painting fur like that is great fun as well.
- 49:01You know you can. You can really put down a nice
- 49:04base cotton, do a bit of dry brushing and a wash and stuff
- 49:07and it looks fantastic. Well, and I think just to
- 49:10further the decision to go with the the nudie stressed haggis
- 49:15look, Anthony said that was his favourite of the two as well.
- 49:19So here we get a rear view so you can see.
- 49:21Such a it's a weird looking thing from the back.
- 49:25Weird looking thing in the back isn't it?
- 49:26I think I'd appreciate. Quite a weird that keep.
- 49:29Travis away. From it well, maybe Travis fits
- 49:35in there, but this is the scale so that's a mythic legions dwarf
- 49:39you see there perfect. And it basically goes up to just
- 49:43above the knee on the dwarf and yeah substantial size all the
- 49:50same. I think Borderland Horde had
- 49:52like A to add like a frog with a backpack similar size I think to
- 49:57this, and they've had a couple of other companions like this.
- 50:02So I think that's the kind of scale and I think that works
- 50:06great as a companion to figure. The little companions are
- 50:10definitely the key to it, yeah. Yeah, We didn't want to do a
- 50:13ride on one because it would cost so much to print and and to
- 50:18sell and we wouldn't, you know, people, not as many people would
- 50:22be able to get it if they want to do it.
- 50:23And we're just being messy. Well enough Best.
- 50:27Yeah. And then going with like, yeah,
- 50:29what we've got with the haggis idea and the dire haggis is a
- 50:32bit of an even bigger joke about it all, is it?
- 50:36You know, it's such a silly, weird creature and it would
- 50:40almost be like a little angry brat of a creature.
- 50:45So this would be terrifying if you saw it.
- 50:48It's got. I mean, I can't work with a
- 50:50dwarf, wouldn't it just like a little?
- 50:52Ice. Yeah, just like.
- 50:53Well, I can't wait to see all the terrifying ways that people
- 50:56might paint it up in the future. Fingers crossed people like it,
- 51:00yeah. So in summary class, here's what
- 51:08we got. We post this, we post this
- 51:10around in the run up to Legions Khan.
- 51:13You can see all the stuff that you can get there and they look
- 51:17good together. Crazy team of stuff, yeah.
- 51:21It all looks great. Yeah, Jan.
- 51:23Again, John Luca did an incredible job with all of it.
- 51:26Absolutely. Really fabulous.
- 51:29I think there's a bit for everybody as well.
- 51:30I mean, the dogs, yeah, hopefully will be popular and
- 51:32people will like those sort of things that, you know, you like
- 51:34your shark men, it's options, Egyptian stuff, options.
- 51:37And Dad, there's option, you know, it's just there's
- 51:39something for everybody there. Sounds like your ideal
- 51:43situation. Basically yes.
- 51:45But you created it for yourself, yeah.
- 51:49The irony being it won't save him any money at Legions con.
- 51:54Oh no, no, just no. Still going out and buying them.
- 51:57Yeah, very good. So that's that.
- 52:02No, my bar of chocolates coming much closer to being that's a
- 52:11going to swap out the tea for a glass of water might need.
- 52:13It people will be, no pun intended, jonesing for you,
- 52:16Rich. Yeah, I think I've.
- 52:18Had you for a couple of weeks, Well, I think not last week, but
- 52:21week before I think as well. I think the the people like you
- 52:26reading your own stuff. I think it sounds best coming
- 52:29from You've Got the Horse's Mouth as well, so And yes, I
- 52:34love listening to Read so Rich. Got a voice?
- 52:38So, so there's there's a few pages of this settling everybody
- 52:42get yourself a nice Scotch or something like that.
- 52:44Or. Hope you've enjoyed the show,
- 52:46see you next week. There are 10 characters I think
- 52:53in this story, so there's four that aren't using our exclusive
- 52:56sculpts, but they're called characters nonetheless.
- 52:59So there'll be John you showing all the pictures to go with this
- 53:01as well. Yeah, that was my plan.
- 53:03So I was just waiting for you to tell me which one to put up
- 53:05first, OK? There's a bit of a back story
- 53:08first, so we'll we'll wind through that and then we'll get
- 53:11I'll give you the nod when you start showing it.
- 53:14So which this is the first one, is it?
- 53:16Yes, it is. OK, perfect.
- 53:18Spoiler let. Spoiler let So So these sculpts
- 53:25in my stories all represent the wider world as we know now know
- 53:27the continent Mythos is just one part of a much bigger world.
- 53:31So then let me set the scene a little bit with the story behind
- 53:36all this sort of stuff. Some of you will have heard this
- 53:38before, I apologise. The rest of it will be fresh
- 53:40just this bit. After the Second Great War, the
- 53:44continent of Mythos was in a desperate state, with many areas
- 53:47devastated by the war and great battles fought throughout it.
- 53:50Nowhere was this more keenly felt than in the southern
- 53:53coastal communities. These small fishing villages and
- 53:56large ports alike had borne the initial brunt of the attacks
- 53:59from Necronominus and Poxus's forces.
- 54:02Wave after wave of undead horrors and pestilence swept
- 54:05ashore and through their lands. Entire villages were obliterated
- 54:08by dark magics, with a fallen then rising to become the undead
- 54:12horde and fight for the dark gods.
- 54:14In Ephidium, the resistance to these invasions was led by the
- 54:17mages of the Convocation of Basilia.
- 54:19Although knowing they would be unable to withstand the vast
- 54:21forces Epoxus, they nevertheless stood their ground in these
- 54:24communities and did all they could.
- 54:27It is said barely a single mage from these areas survived, but
- 54:30through their bravery they managed to save thousands of
- 54:32people across Phidian. Some mages sent entire villages
- 54:36to temporary dimensions where they were safe, others healed as
- 54:39much of the pestilence as Poxus spread before they themselves
- 54:42were cut down. In Ethos, the large port cities
- 54:45put up a fierce resistance but were doomed against the
- 54:48uncountable hordes of undead creatures that attacked them.
- 54:51Trading vessels of all sizes fled and took as many people as
- 54:54they could, but they still left hundreds of thousands in the
- 54:57port cities. It was here the Templar Order
- 55:00established themselves once more as one of the greatest forces
- 55:03for good in Mythos. Commands were sent by Sir
- 55:06Godfrey via the Templar Emissaries for each temple to
- 55:09hold firm no matter the costs. Each temple master swore to
- 55:13uphold this order and they and their men fought with a bravery
- 55:16that unless seen, would have been thought as mythical
- 55:20through. Through the Templar actions, the
- 55:22hordes of undead were slowed up for weeks, allowing 10s of
- 55:25thousands of civilians to escape.
- 55:28Their actions also allow the armies of Ethos to assemble in
- 55:31full readiness for the Great War to come.
- 55:34The greatest rearguard action of this campaign was by the temple
- 55:37within the port city of Brooke Pharos.
- 55:39Their story is for another time, but even the mortally wounded
- 55:42Thoracis, the first born himself, spoke of their valour
- 55:45and military might before his existence was ended by Gwendolyn
- 55:48Heavens Brand. After the final great battle,
- 55:52the surviving populations returned to their destroyed
- 55:54cities and villages, but there was so little left that they
- 55:57realised they would struggle to survive here and now decided to
- 56:00roam further afield with the rest of the continent, mythos
- 56:03and ruins as well. They saw no other option but to
- 56:06set sail to see what are the land, if any, might be found
- 56:10across the vast oceans. One group of survivors fleeing
- 56:14Mythos were from one of the great port cities and led by
- 56:17Knights and their retinues, this group sailed forth in a large
- 56:20trading vessel filled with all the items they felt they needed
- 56:23to start a new community wherever they landed.
- 56:26After weeks at sea and having survived a couple of terrible
- 56:28storms, the battered ship and crew finally sighted land.
- 56:33There was great excitement amongst all on board and the
- 56:35children were jubilant as they hoped to make new friends in
- 56:37this new land. As the ship got closer to land
- 56:40the expedition leader Sir Nandor was wary that Southern Lands was
- 56:44where the undead horde had come from.
- 56:47He ordered the ships captain to sail close to shore to enable
- 56:49them to survey the land more closely before disembarking.
- 56:53They saw no one at first, but when they rounded a headland
- 56:56they finally saw movement and a small village.
- 56:59To the relief of everyone on board, the figures in the
- 57:01distance did not move in the shambling way of the undead.
- 57:04Looking through a telescope, the captain affirmed that although
- 57:06the races he saw were unknown to him, they were not undead
- 57:09creatures. The ship anchored further down
- 57:13the coast and the passengers excitedly disembarked to this
- 57:16new world that appeared untouched by the wars of mythos.
- 57:20The scouting parties revealed that the land appeared fertile
- 57:23and more importantly, unoccupied other than the small village
- 57:25they had spotted. So Nandor confidently and
- 57:28proudly proclaimed the land as New Etheros and planted the flag
- 57:32of the Great Eagle. They built a small settlement as
- 57:34a first stage and lived there happily for a few weeks.
- 57:38One day a hunting party which had gone 10s of miles inland
- 57:41returned to say that they had seen what appeared to be a
- 57:44ruined castle off in the distance.
- 57:46It didn't appeared occupied from what they saw, but so Nandor
- 57:49wanted to investigate nonetheless.
- 57:51His thinking was if there was a substantial old building further
- 57:54inland, he could occupy those and rebuild them to fortify new
- 57:57ethos. He sent a group comprising
- 57:59Knights and builders to look at the ruins and see what they
- 58:02could be done with them. While carrying out their work,
- 58:04they were approached by a rider on horseback.
- 58:07The knight was clad in head to toe red armour, the like of
- 58:10which the group had not seen before.
- 58:12As he got closer, the rider removed his helmet to reveal
- 58:15that he was a wolf. Seeing the rider closer, seeing
- 58:19the rider was a wolf rather, they relaxed as the wolf clans
- 58:22of Mythos were sworn allies to the Order of Etheron.
- 58:25However, when he reached them, it quickly became clear this
- 58:28wolf was no friend. So that's the back story set up
- 58:35so you know. Yeah, and you got a bit of you.
- 58:39You even got a mention of Sir Godfrey in there.
- 58:41I salute you. Oh yeah.
- 58:43Yeah, I'll drop, I'll drop, you know, real stuff.
- 58:44In Thoracus Dies, Gwendolyn was mentioned.
- 58:46Yeah, but Godfrey is such a, you know, he's just a Templar
- 58:49knight, really. He's a figure.
- 58:52Great. Great to get a bit of character
- 58:54in there. OK, so, OK, so let's.
- 58:57Go on with the. Yeah.
- 58:59There he is. So this is the rider on
- 59:01horseback, is it? This is indeed.
- 59:04The wolf wore a tabard with a sigil of a howling wolf on it.
- 59:08None of the Knights recognised the sigil and neither had they
- 59:10seen wolves wear red before. Who are you Sir?
- 59:13Asked Sir Gambon, the leader of the party.
- 59:16The wolf Lut Gambon up and down with disdain before replying.
- 59:19You are unwelcome here. Leave now while you still can.
- 59:23There will be no further warning.
- 59:26How dare you speak to a knight of ethos like that?
- 59:29Exclaimed Sir Gambon. We are not your enemies or mere
- 59:32peasants. The builders in the group
- 59:34shuffled in easily at the term peasants being thrown around.
- 59:37They knew some of the nights, and Sir Gambon in particular
- 59:39looked down on most members of the expedition, but to hear it
- 59:42spoken aloud like that was disconcerting.
- 59:45The wolf looked down at night, trying to work out what race he
- 59:47was. You are human, he said finally.
- 59:51Humans are weak. They were food for our
- 59:53ancestors, he stated. You will leave now or you'll be
- 59:57food once more. Sir Gambon went to reply but was
- 1:00:01cut off by the wolf. You're in the lands of the
- 1:00:03Lichen Leagues. We do not tolerate outsiders.
- 1:00:07Be gone when I return with my troops, or you will all die.
- 1:00:11With that, the wolf turned his horse around and began to ride
- 1:00:14off. That's a Gambon signal.
- 1:00:16One of the Knights mounted his horse and charged after the
- 1:00:19wolf. He had threatened them and must
- 1:00:21be dealt with in case he really didn't have troops to return
- 1:00:23with. As the night closed in on the
- 1:00:25wolf, he suddenly fell from his horse.
- 1:00:27The wolf stopped, turned his horse around and rode back to
- 1:00:30where the night had fallen. Getting down off his horse, he
- 1:00:34picked the dead up the dead knight like he was a rag doll.
- 1:00:37Sir Gambon now saw that an arrow had fell.
- 1:00:39The knight. Looking around Sir Gambon saw a
- 1:00:42creature dressed in blue with a crossbow in his hand stood on
- 1:00:45the Crest of a nearby hill. Sir Gambon could not make out
- 1:00:48the race of the creature, but it's squashed face made it
- 1:00:50obvious it was no wolf. The wolf knight threw the fallen
- 1:00:53knight to the floor and stared back at the party, a fierce fire
- 1:00:58burning in his eyes. You were warned.
- 1:01:01He shouted. Now you will all die as well any
- 1:01:04others you may have with you. So there we go.
- 1:01:08So that's the the nasty wolf, not one of our thanks.
- 1:01:15Malphoo, that nasty wolf Boo. It's Rodriguez head sculpt.
- 1:01:21And it's painted by Mark Field. But I, I love it.
- 1:01:23It's a yes. Fantastic.
- 1:01:25Good, good wolf. He's he's getting in on breaking
- 1:01:30up either answer. You know, I'm, I'm, I'm good
- 1:01:32with them. You're honest suddenly wolf fan.
- 1:01:35There we go. So the second next character up
- 1:01:39is the Pug and he was dropped into the end of that story.
- 1:01:43Here he is. Thank you John the Pug.
- 1:01:49The Archer stepped out of the biz bushes as the wolf arrived.
- 1:01:52Captain Sir, Said the anthropomorphic pug as he bowed
- 1:01:55his head. Excellent shot, answered the
- 1:01:57wolf. He caught himself though as soon
- 1:01:59as he said it, as the pug now became visibly excited and
- 1:02:02started panting heavily. Damn dogs, thought the wolf.
- 1:02:06We may have bred them to be more than companion animals, but they
- 1:02:09still have preys a little too much, especially pugs.
- 1:02:13When they arrived back at camp, the pug hurriedly ran off to
- 1:02:16tell his friends what had happened.
- 1:02:18Bartholomew loved to be useful and popular, and couldn't wait
- 1:02:21to tell Freud how he had slain the creature.
- 1:02:23Strange creature for the wolf, Freud.
- 1:02:26Freud, he exclaimed as he reached a set of benches and
- 1:02:28campfires set up in front of a row of tents.
- 1:02:31A weary looking anthropomorphic Basset Hound looked down at the
- 1:02:34pug. What is it Bart?
- 1:02:37He said in a voice that was as weary as he looked.
- 1:02:39Freud, I held the captain, I saved him, Exclaimed the pug.
- 1:02:43The soldier in armour was going to kill him and I shot him dead.
- 1:02:46Well done Bart, Replied Freud, barely looking up from his meal.
- 1:02:50I did, I saved him and I'm so excited to have done it.
- 1:02:53The young pug continued. But I'd only been in the Lycan
- 1:02:56League army for two years. But his skill with the bow had
- 1:02:58quickly ensured he was assigned to one of the main units.
- 1:03:01Helping the wolves keep their empire safe was all he had ever
- 1:03:03wanted to do, and now he could. Oh, little pup, you're excited
- 1:03:09because you've been bred to be excited.
- 1:03:11Our ancestors were basic animals who the wolves through ancient
- 1:03:14magics, bred to be servants and soldiers.
- 1:03:17We're all just here to serve them.
- 1:03:19The slurred words came from a Saint Bernard drinking from a
- 1:03:21small barrel. Be quiet.
- 1:03:23Higgins snapped. Freud, your drunken ramblings
- 1:03:26aren't helpful. They're not ramblings, they're
- 1:03:29the truth. And you know that hound snapped
- 1:03:32back. Higgins.
- 1:03:33The Basset Hound walked calmly over to Saint Bernard and
- 1:03:35punched him in the gut. Enough drunkard, He snarled.
- 1:03:39You will let the boy enjoy his moment.
- 1:03:41Almost oblivious to the argument, Bart was just
- 1:03:43overjoyed to have helped the mighty wolf.
- 1:03:45His tail was wagging away inside his armour and he was happy.
- 1:03:49What a good boy I am, he thought to himself as he got the bowl of
- 1:03:52Stew. I love it.
- 1:03:57Yeah, brilliant. That's fun writing that one.
- 1:04:00So Bart Bart. I love the name Bartolomew.
- 1:04:04Yes, perfect. So that was a good fit.
- 1:04:08OK, so we have the Basset Hound next, please, John.
- 1:04:11Yeah. Got him and then off you go.
- 1:04:16That's some Bernard, maybe a drunk, but he's right, thought
- 1:04:19Freud later that evening. When you've been around as long
- 1:04:22as we have, you learned the truth.
- 1:04:24The canine company units are soldiers and nothing more.
- 1:04:27Our ancestors are simply guard dogs.
- 1:04:29Even worse, some were mere pets to the lichens, and they still
- 1:04:32regard us as just animals to be used. 20 years ago, I had the
- 1:04:36chance stand up to them. I knew the truth then and could
- 1:04:39have fought against our oppression, but I faltered.
- 1:04:42I'm too old now to rebel. He sighed out loud.
- 1:04:45Just focus on the men, he thought to himself.
- 1:04:47Getting them through any battles is your main focus now.
- 1:04:51Freud knew he had a group of fierce warriors and loyal
- 1:04:53companions at his side, and although tired of war, their
- 1:04:56zeal kept him going. Despite still being a fearsome
- 1:05:00warrior, he was getting older. I knew he didn't have many years
- 1:05:02left in the army. If I can just persuade Usey to
- 1:05:06use his talents and become a leader as well as a fighter, he
- 1:05:10can take over as the corporal in the unit and then I know the men
- 1:05:13will be safe, he thought. And with that, the old warrior
- 1:05:16pulled his blanket over him and fell asleep.
- 1:05:22Right, who we got next? Next is the Chow Chow.
- 1:05:26Right. Yusei was a tall, powerful chow
- 1:05:32chow. He was big, even for a large
- 1:05:34type of dog. Growing up in the eastern city
- 1:05:37of Seldi grew. Yusei's childhood had been
- 1:05:40harsh. Chow chows were one of the rarer
- 1:05:42breeds in the city, and so when his parents died from disease,
- 1:05:45the young pup had to beg for food on the city's streets.
- 1:05:48One day he was attacked by a group of older boys and had his
- 1:05:51long fur partially shaved off. The perpetrator stood there
- 1:05:54laughing at him and his sorry state swines.
- 1:05:59Six months later, the leader of the gang disappeared.
- 1:06:02Then the following week another member.
- 1:06:04And so the pan continued. After a few weeks, Yusei
- 1:06:07revealed himself to the remaining members as the one who
- 1:06:09disappeared the others. He demanded their loyalty or
- 1:06:13they would face the same fate. Over the next few years, he
- 1:06:17enlarged the gang's territory substantially and was feared by
- 1:06:20all in the city. Then one day, his life changed.
- 1:06:24The gang chose the wrong target to steal from and were later
- 1:06:27ambushed by the city guard led by the Lycan nobility the gang
- 1:06:31had stolen from. Most of the gang were executed
- 1:06:33on the spot, but Husei and a handful of others were gaoled
- 1:06:36for their crimes. A few years later, Husei was
- 1:06:40dragged out from his cell, a pale imitation of the once
- 1:06:43powerful dog who'd entered prison.
- 1:06:45He and the other prisoners were marched to the courtyard where
- 1:06:48they were addressed by a Basset Hound in full military regalia.
- 1:06:51He introduced himself as Corporal Freud and said that the
- 1:06:54prisoners had a chance to redeem themselves.
- 1:06:56The recent outbreak of war between the Lichen Leagues and
- 1:06:59the Simian Federation meant the army needed more soldiers, he
- 1:07:03explained. Join the army and your gaol
- 1:07:05terms will be commuted. Use a jumped at the chance to
- 1:07:08leave the hell hole behind. The new recruits were taken
- 1:07:12almost straight to battle to be used as fodder to overwhelm the
- 1:07:15simians. But Yuzzay was not going to get
- 1:07:17out of prison and needs to die so quickly.
- 1:07:20Gaunts he may have been, but he was still one hell of a fighter.
- 1:07:23In the battle that ensued he slayed countless simians,
- 1:07:25including a chimp Colonel. The dogs though were eventually
- 1:07:29pushed back and found themselves with only one narrow escape
- 1:07:33route back to the rest of the army.
- 1:07:35Then in in a move that surprised even himself, the once arrogant
- 1:07:39and self centred Usay announced he would hold the Simeons off to
- 1:07:42allow time for everyone else to escape.
- 1:07:44He slew every Simeon that came at him until all his comrades
- 1:07:47had made it to safety. This act of extreme heroism
- 1:07:50changed Usay. From that day forth he became a
- 1:07:53loyal soldier and supported his brothers in arms.
- 1:07:56This new attitude, combined with his martial prowess, saw him
- 1:07:59quickly elevated to an elite unit at the request of its
- 1:08:02corporal, A Basset Hound named Freud.
- 1:08:05Since then, he has become one of its most important members but
- 1:08:08has refused promotions as he knows what happened the last
- 1:08:10time he led a group. Very interesting one.
- 1:08:16A lot of. Stories in this whole backing.
- 1:08:19This I forgot what they were called.
- 1:08:22Hound Platoon. Canine Company.
- 1:08:24Canine company. I've got the canine company.
- 1:08:27I've got quite a dark past, haven't they?
- 1:08:29They have. This is not unusual for the ones
- 1:08:31that I write. There has to be seen.
- 1:08:36OK, The Doberman up next, please, John.
- 1:08:38The Doberman that's over here. So this was wonderfully painted
- 1:08:45by our own John Cornfield. Get that in there before we
- 1:08:48start. One of Uze's best friends is
- 1:08:52also the unit's berserker. Just Justin Jurgen.
- 1:08:56To say he's unusual would be an understatement.
- 1:08:58Bournemouth 2 heads. He was ostracised by his town
- 1:09:01and his family had to move to a remote farm where he was raised
- 1:09:04in peace and quiet. Unfortunately, that remote farm
- 1:09:07was close to the border with one of the other great powers in the
- 1:09:10region, and the Lichen League's continual attempts to expand
- 1:09:13their power meant revenge driven border aids were commonplace.
- 1:09:18During one of these raids, Yerston Jurgen's family was
- 1:09:21slaughtered in front of him and he was left close to death.
- 1:09:25Somehow he survived, although the massive scar across his
- 1:09:29chest shows just how close he came to death that day.
- 1:09:32Fleeing deeper into the League's territory, he came across a
- 1:09:35recruitment team and signed up for the army, determined to
- 1:09:37avenge his family. Initially he struggled with the
- 1:09:40fighting elements of the army. 1/2 of him had always been
- 1:09:43extremely calm and happy, and would often be seen with his
- 1:09:45tongue out. Yerston while the other half was
- 1:09:49more aggressive, Jurgen The two halves worked together to figure
- 1:09:52out a way to fight and finally agreed that Jiersten would be
- 1:09:55armed with a shield to offer protection while Jurgen would
- 1:09:58carry a wicked sword to kill their enemies.
- 1:10:01This combination worked extremely well and Jiersten
- 1:10:03Jurgen worked his way through the various units until he
- 1:10:06arrived with his current elite unit.
- 1:10:09He soon bonded with use as the two most ferocious warriors
- 1:10:12within it. I never realised it painted a
- 1:10:17Jurgen. Yeah, he was.
- 1:10:19Originally he was Jurgen. And then I thought, Oh no, I
- 1:10:21need separate names on the other head.
- 1:10:22So he was used in Jurgen? Works great.
- 1:10:26OK, the Saint Bernard next, please, John, absolutely.
- 1:10:31OK, Come on, Ambrose, let me let me try that again.
- 1:10:37That was not the right voice. Come on, Ambrose slurred.
- 1:10:40The hungover St Bernard, the Serge has given his prisoner
- 1:10:44duty. Oh great, thanks.
- 1:10:46Higgins replied. Ambrose, I have a shitty duty
- 1:10:48now thanks to your attitude. With that the two dogs made off
- 1:10:52towards the wooden cages on the far side of the camp.
- 1:10:55Higgins hated his life. He was an experienced soldier
- 1:10:58and a good fighter, but he'd had enough of war now and just
- 1:11:00wanted to get drunk. He even carried a small barrel
- 1:11:03of ale around his neck, hidden under his tabard.
- 1:11:05If any officers are around he he would have been thrown out of
- 1:11:09the army a long time ago except for the fact he was an
- 1:11:11accomplished healer even now in his often hungover state.
- 1:11:15His colleagues had begin to look down on me even more over the
- 1:11:17last few months though as his drinking.
- 1:11:19Drinking had really picked up when yet another offensive was
- 1:11:23announced by the Lichen Lords to claim more territory from the
- 1:11:26Simian Federation. A long serving healer in the
- 1:11:30army, Higgins life changed one day when he overheard a
- 1:11:32conversation between two Lichen captains.
- 1:11:36They were discussing how the stupid dogs were just born and
- 1:11:38bred slaves for the wolves, beasts of servitude and war and
- 1:11:42nothing more. These wars are just are just
- 1:11:46using us to fight their wars, he told the others.
- 1:11:48The next day Corporal Freud pulled into one side and
- 1:11:52explained. Yes lad, I know that, as do many
- 1:11:55others. But we are soldiers and we fight
- 1:11:58for our people. We fight to keep all breeds of
- 1:12:00canine safe from the enemy. The lichens to keep all breeds
- 1:12:06of canine safe from the enemies. The lichens to keep all breeds
- 1:12:09of canine safe from the enemy. We should refuse and demand
- 1:12:13peace, replied Higgins. Don't be a bloody fool.
- 1:12:16Said an arrogant looking pit bull stepping out from behind a
- 1:12:18tent. You're a soldier Higgins, a
- 1:12:21Sergeant no less and will do your duty.
- 1:12:24I will not Austin, replied Higgins.
- 1:12:27I am a healer and can't let the death and violence continue when
- 1:12:30it need not. With that Higgins walked out
- 1:12:33into the middle of a camp and told all what he now knew.
- 1:12:36He was soon clubbed to the ground by a lighting captain.
- 1:12:39The only thing that stopped him being executed on the spot was
- 1:12:41the pleas of his fellow canines. He had saved many of their lives
- 1:12:44and they had him a debt after all.
- 1:12:47He was demoted for daring to question the lichens and warned
- 1:12:50that if he used those words again he would be gaoled or
- 1:12:53worse. Now just a lowly and bitter
- 1:12:56soldier. He still complaints, but does so
- 1:12:58just to his unit. 1 day he thinks himself.
- 1:13:02Either the ale or an enemy will get the better of me and then
- 1:13:04this hell will be over. That's another Dark 1, isn't it?
- 1:13:08These are all pretty dark. Yeah, awesome for poor.
- 1:13:14Was was was he named after Higgins in Ted Lasso?
- 1:13:19No, again, Daughter came up with the name.
- 1:13:20She's not seen Ted Lasso, so no. But it's a good fit.
- 1:13:24Yeah, yeah. And always.
- 1:13:25He named that the one out of the Magnum Pi either.
- 1:13:29Good name though. Yeah, good name.
- 1:13:30Yeah, right. The Rottweiler next, please,
- 1:13:32John. Rottweiler.
- 1:13:38Opening the cage door, Ambrose pulled out a snubber nosed
- 1:13:41monkey dressed in fine armour. You're coming with us Simeon
- 1:13:44scum. He said.
- 1:13:45We had orders to take you to see the General himself.
- 1:13:48You'll might not likely leave there alive, or at the very
- 1:13:51least you won't be whole anymore.
- 1:13:52With that he shoved the monkey along in front of him and
- 1:13:54Higgins. He's really not our enemy.
- 1:13:57Higgins said quietly as they walked through the camp.
- 1:13:59Don't start on that nonsense again, Higgins.
- 1:14:02Snarled. Ambrose, the Simians are enemies
- 1:14:04and I've seen too many friends cut down by one of them to
- 1:14:06listen to talk of peace. The Lycan League's victory over
- 1:14:09the Simian Federation will only be a matter of time and we shall
- 1:14:12be avenged. Ambrose had once regarded the
- 1:14:15Saint Bernard as a close friend, but after hearing the language
- 1:14:18Higgins had started spouting, he now disliked him and borderline
- 1:14:21despised him. All Ambrose wanted to do was
- 1:14:23fight for the glory of the Leagues and defend his homeland.
- 1:14:26He was a loyal soldier to the Wolves and would protect them
- 1:14:29and their lands with his life. Sure.
- 1:14:34OK, yes, yeah, there's long and short in here.
- 1:14:37I don't know, like, you know, really bore everyone to speak.
- 1:14:39I don't know. It's good.
- 1:14:41I like the the sort of guard dog element you got in there.
- 1:14:46Yeah, that was the thinking behind it.
- 1:14:47Yeah. Prisoner duty and guarding.
- 1:14:49And everything else. Yeah, right.
- 1:14:51The Pitbull next please, John. So this uses a more way head
- 1:14:58painted by Mark again, really fabulously painted one and this
- 1:15:02is probably what got me thinking about dog sculpts and really
- 1:15:04doing it properly. So curse you Mark for painting
- 1:15:06it so well. All right then, wait here for
- 1:15:11me. Said the surly looking Sergeant
- 1:15:13Austin when the two dogs and their prisoner arrived at the
- 1:15:15General's tent. This is a chance for me to
- 1:15:18impress the General. He thought to himself as he
- 1:15:19pulled back the fabric to enter the guard area of the General's
- 1:15:22tent. My unit captured the monkey and
- 1:15:24when he spills his secrets I will be rewarded as the leader
- 1:15:27of the unit. Austin was a grizzled veteran of
- 1:15:31countless battles but wanted more.
- 1:15:33He had been raised to Sergeant and moved to an elite unit, but
- 1:15:35he still wanted more. His men followed him loyally and
- 1:15:39respected him. Well, maybe except for Higgins
- 1:15:41now, but still he wanted more. He believed the guard corpse was
- 1:15:45where the real glory lay. The chance to be around colonels
- 1:15:49and generals, maybe even like and nobility was what he craved.
- 1:15:53This was his chance. You may enter with your
- 1:15:56prisoner. The guard captain told him.
- 1:15:59Just you and the prisoner though.
- 1:16:01This was music to Austin's ears. He didn't want to share the
- 1:16:03glory after all. He brought the monkey into the
- 1:16:06tent and then through the general's, then through to the
- 1:16:08general's personal quarters. The general was not alone
- 1:16:11however. There was a smaller dog there
- 1:16:13with him. The dog was not messed, dressed
- 1:16:15in a military uniform, nor was he wearing a tab.
- 1:16:17Odd. A marker of any kind bearing the
- 1:16:19sigil of his breed. OK, on to the next Wolf, please,
- 1:16:25John. Last two.
- 1:16:26Here we go. So this is the Wolf General?
- 1:16:31Yeah, he is. Yeah.
- 1:16:33Using a knight builder armoury. Right, Rather body.
- 1:16:36And then, you know, he's got an eye patch.
- 1:16:38I'd take an arm off him as well. He's grizzled.
- 1:16:41He's fought a lot of stuff. Undo the prisoner's restraints.
- 1:16:46The general said, standing up for me on his table.
- 1:16:49But Sir, he's a dangerous enemy and I'm not armed.
- 1:16:51Austin said before quickly catching himself.
- 1:16:54Release him now. Snarled the large one.
- 1:16:57I'm one armed wolf. Clearly annoyed at his his order
- 1:17:01being questioned, the wolf only had one eye to stare at him
- 1:17:05with, but Austin immediately obeyed and cut the monkey's
- 1:17:07restraints. Both of you, take a seat.
- 1:17:10The wolf ordered. What do you want of me?
- 1:17:13Asked the monkey. I want your help, Replied the
- 1:17:16wolf. The monkey looked confused.
- 1:17:19I know you are Lord Blue Sword. The wolf carried on.
- 1:17:22I need your help with an urgent matter will benefit both our
- 1:17:25peoples. General, you've been mistaken
- 1:17:27for someone else. Said the monkey.
- 1:17:29I am certainly not a Lord, you are Lord Blue Sword of the Snub
- 1:17:34Nose royal family. Said the smaller dog, stepping
- 1:17:36out from the corner of the room. We've been tracking you for some
- 1:17:39time for the right moment to take you captive.
- 1:17:42The monkey started to protest but realised the game was up.
- 1:17:46My family will not pay any ransom to get me back.
- 1:17:48Like and scum. He growled at his captors.
- 1:17:52You misunderstand Lord. Continued the wolf.
- 1:17:55I do not want any ransom for you.
- 1:17:56I want your help in return for your freedom.
- 1:17:59We have recently become aware of a return threat from the north,
- 1:18:02far away from our lands and need to investigate it.
- 1:18:06Enough of your lies, spat the monkey.
- 1:18:08There are no lands to the north. What do you really want?
- 1:18:12Oh, I assure you there are, smiled the wolf.
- 1:18:15My ancestors came from there a long time ago.
- 1:18:18The monkey looks shocked. Just because your people have
- 1:18:22little knowledge, don't presume it is the same for mine.
- 1:18:24Said the wolf, smiling even more broadly at the visibly squirming
- 1:18:28monkey. He continued.
- 1:18:31The people of those lands are called humans and they were once
- 1:18:34great enemies of the lichens. Some have recently been seen in
- 1:18:38our lands and we need to know if this is a scouting party for a
- 1:18:41larger invasion. Be warned Simeon, if they come,
- 1:18:44they will come for all the peoples of this continent.
- 1:18:47The nearest port is in Simeon territory and I need you to get
- 1:18:51my spy safely on board a ship heading north.
- 1:18:54Who will be sailing the ship? Inquired the monkey.
- 1:18:57The Legions do not have vessels capable of travelling that sort
- 1:19:00of distance you talk about. The Ocean Clans have agreed to
- 1:19:03let my spy travel on one of their pirate vessels.
- 1:19:07Replied the wolf. They can see the threat posed by
- 1:19:09humans, you should too. The slub nosed monkey thought
- 1:19:13about the request and ran through all the options to him.
- 1:19:17Enemy. The Lycans were a good thing for
- 1:19:18the simians, but at the same time if he refused he would be
- 1:19:21held captive or or even worse executed.
- 1:19:25He had a young family at court and wanted to see them again
- 1:19:27desperately. Worse still, what if the wolf
- 1:19:30wasn't exaggerating and the humans were indeed set on
- 1:19:32destroying Symbians as well as the wolves?
- 1:19:35Very well. He replied.
- 1:19:36I will take your spy to the port.
- 1:19:38But know this wolf, if it isn't an enemy from the north that you
- 1:19:41need to fear most, it is me. You killed all my men and their
- 1:19:45families when you captured me, and I will have my revenge for
- 1:19:48them. The wolf laughed at the threat
- 1:19:52and sat down once again behind the table.
- 1:19:54He gestured towards what Austin could now see was a dachshund.
- 1:19:58Sebastian, leave with this fall. Now before I did, I decide my
- 1:20:02desire for monkey flesh is greater than my interest in the
- 1:20:04humans. Sergeant has scored them both
- 1:20:07safely out of camp. The football stood up and made
- 1:20:10for the door. Oh, and Sergeant?
- 1:20:12Snarled the wolf. If anyone outside this room
- 1:20:15hears of this mission, I will be feasting on dog, not monkey.
- 1:20:19Austin's heart sank. He knew this was not a chance
- 1:20:22for him to join the guard, and in fact, if he even spoke of it,
- 1:20:24he would be killed. He will be stuck with Higgins
- 1:20:27and the others for a long time yet to come.
- 1:20:32Right. And what accent was that monkey?
- 1:20:35It started Irish ish and went off and all sorts of directions.
- 1:20:39Yeah, I started going down the Irish and suddenly thought,
- 1:20:41well, I'm going to meet John does Irish accents for this sort
- 1:20:43of stuff. So I probably don't want to be
- 1:20:44going down that route. Yeah, well you need to do a
- 1:20:48simian company then for for the next Letterheads.
- 1:20:52Simian Federation. Yes, absolutely.
- 1:20:53I've already got ideas. Do you have any?
- 1:20:57Is there any monkey head scuffs out there?
- 1:20:58There's a few space. There is a snubbernose monkey,
- 1:21:01and he's a character in this because I've got him painted up
- 1:21:03and ready to go. OK.
- 1:21:06I think walk in customs did that one a while back.
- 1:21:09Oh yeah, yeah. OK, so the last character,
- 1:21:14little Sebastian, the Dash and the Dashund, clad in armour
- 1:21:19clearly not of the Lichen leagues and wearing a brown
- 1:21:22brown cloak and hat, bowed to the wolf and left the tent with
- 1:21:25the monkey in the pit bull. He walked much taller than his
- 1:21:28height, however, as he knew how vital he was to this mission.
- 1:21:32Sebastian had been a quiet child, often not picked by the
- 1:21:35other children for games and overlooked by the adults when
- 1:21:37tasks were required to be done. Over time he became insulated
- 1:21:40and withdrawn and angry towards everybody.
- 1:21:43Then he began to realise that he could make use of being ignored
- 1:21:45so much. He started stealing from people
- 1:21:47who just ignored his presence. Then he started spying on people
- 1:21:50and leaving notes for them, telling them he knew what they
- 1:21:53did behind closed doors. Inevitably, this then led to
- 1:21:57blackmail and Sebastian began to get rich.
- 1:22:00One day an army set up camp a few miles from the village and
- 1:22:03Sebastian decided to go there and steal what he could.
- 1:22:06As usual, this diminutive, quiet dog was able to move around
- 1:22:09virtually unnoticed. He entered the commander's tent,
- 1:22:12stole a purse and was heading back out when a huge wolf
- 1:22:15entered. Sebastian tried to hide it, but
- 1:22:18it was no use. The wolf had seen him.
- 1:22:20Well, well, snarled the wolf. What do we have here?
- 1:22:24A little thief. I've never tasted Dashon before,
- 1:22:27so I will enjoy this. So if I may, Came a soft voice
- 1:22:31from behind the wolf. Out stepped the dog, dressed in
- 1:22:34brown and wearing a tall hat. This boy has shown extraordinary
- 1:22:38stealth to get past your guards and into the tent, General.
- 1:22:41Said the dog. Rather than killing him, maybe I
- 1:22:43could put him to better use. You want to recruit him?
- 1:22:47Bernard replied the wolf. Very well take him and make him
- 1:22:50useful to the Leagues. A new feeling swept over
- 1:22:54Sebastian. Gratitude.
- 1:22:56This dog had looked out for him and saved him.
- 1:22:59After that, Sebastian loyally followed what turned out to be
- 1:23:01the league's spymaster. He learned from him and honed
- 1:23:05his spy craft. One day the spymaster announced
- 1:23:07he was retiring and told Sebastian he was recommended to
- 1:23:11the Lichen Lord's Sebastian Beard replacement.
- 1:23:15Sebastian now runs a network of spies throughout throughout the
- 1:23:18Lichen Leagues and other territories charged with
- 1:23:21protecting the League. When he heard a few weeks ago of
- 1:23:24strange creatures sailing close to shore, he had immediately
- 1:23:27dispatched spies to the coast. When one of those spies returned
- 1:23:31and described what could only be humans, Sebastian had decided he
- 1:23:36himself must be sure the ancient enemy had returned.
- 1:23:39Now he must ventures through enemy territory, board a vessel
- 1:23:43and straight sail to a strange new land to discover what the
- 1:23:46truth is. Sebastian smiled as he, the
- 1:23:49monkey and the Pitbull rode off. This would be a mission that his
- 1:23:52skill set would be truly tested on.
- 1:23:56And there we have. It excellent.
- 1:23:58Well done. You deserve it.
- 1:24:02You deserve a swig after all that.
- 1:24:05Oh boy, she's going completely. Yeah, not a swig the figure.
- 1:24:09Yeah. It's a sweet body underneath it,
- 1:24:11so yeah. Right, well before we completely
- 1:24:16kill Rich's vocal chords. I think we leave it at that for
- 1:24:19the for this week. Hope you enjoyed that.
- 1:24:22I really enjoyed the story Rich. I'm not just blowing smoke up
- 1:24:25your doggy. Excellent.
- 1:24:27Some really cool bits in there. Really cool.
- 1:24:29Yeah, I love all the bit of linking them and that sort of
- 1:24:32stuff as well. It's quite old to do that.
- 1:24:34Yeah, the Jeremy does that with the Legion stories sometimes as
- 1:24:37well. Yeah, it's very, it's a very
- 1:24:41smart way to link them together and to kind of build the
- 1:24:46intrigue for the next part, you know, as you're dropping them
- 1:24:49daily, for example, on the Cabal or you know, when he does with
- 1:24:52the teaser, so. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:24:55Very cool. Have a good one.
- 1:25:00Stay safe out there, everybody. And remember, if you see a
- 1:25:02little Bastion wearing a hat by you, behave
