- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. What's going on? Everybody? Jeff
- 0:15Mosher and Adam Kaplan joined again as usual and happily
- 0:20by Inside the Birds dot COM's Andrew de Checho. And
- 0:24when you see all three of us, are you hear
- 0:26all three of us? You know that the Eagles are
- 0:28smack dab in the middle of training camp. And for
- 0:30those watching on YouTube, I'm sure you've noticed that we're
- 0:34all a nice shade of tan because we were at
- 0:37Monday's practice and it was sweltering fellas ninety seven degrees
- 0:41felt even hotter than that. Wasn't humid? Wasn't that bad?
- 0:45Speaker 2: Oh?
- 0:46Speaker 1: Very very hot?
- 0:47Speaker 2: And I would have left, to be honest with you,
- 0:48I would have left if it was human. I'm out.
- 0:50It's like, you know, what do I need to be here?
- 0:52I'll be at other practices. But yeah, it was. And
- 0:56you know, it's funny because you know when you dry,
- 0:58when you're driving from there, and you look at the
- 1:01temperature because it's it's reflected off of like the asphalt,
- 1:04it's at one hundred and three And when I looked
- 1:07at and I'm like, there's no way to hundred and three,
- 1:10but it's off the ground. But anyway, Yeah, it was brutal.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I was one of the first guys out there. I
- 1:17may have been the first guy out there. And I'm
- 1:18like walking up and down the field. I'm like, this
- 1:20is football weather. I'm ready, let's go.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Although Vic Fanio, how about him?
- 1:24Speaker 1: And I haven't even left my house yet, and I'm
- 1:28just checking X and I see Andrew texting the picture
- 1:32of the field with nobody on it. I'm like, why
- 1:34is he there so early?
- 1:35Speaker 2: What time do you get there? What time do you
- 1:37get on out there?
- 1:38Speaker 3: At nine o'clock? I was there at nine on the field.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Oh, because we had no you able to get players before.
- 1:44Speaker 3: No, I just like to get mentally prepared.
- 1:49Speaker 1: He has the sickness. What were you saying about Vic Fangio?
- 1:51Speaker 2: No, I was gonna say. Vic was wearing a sweatshirt.
- 1:53I'm like, what is he doing? Was it the hoodie?
- 1:57Speaker 1: A lot of coaches, Jamal Singleton wore a sweatshirt. I
- 2:00remember Harold Carmichael. He used to always wear long sleeve
- 2:03hoodies when he was the guy who would catch the
- 2:05ball and place it before every rep. But I think
- 2:08that's like a football player slash coaching thing where you're
- 2:11trying to lose weight and be manly.
- 2:13Speaker 2: And well, I thought so because there's an offensive line
- 2:15coach I know, and I visited with him over the
- 2:17years and he would wear the hood and that he
- 2:19was probably three hundred pounds then. And I get that
- 2:21you're trying to lose the water weight, but man, it
- 2:23was brutal. Jeff, let me ask you this question from
- 2:25all your days at Lee High. Now I know about
- 2:27your storm one. I saw that picture that you put out,
- 2:29which is incredible.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Lehigh is in the middle of the country, right, so
- 2:35you get old country heat. Was Monday's practice? Was that
- 2:42going back in your memory? Was that one of the
- 2:44hottest you could remember?
- 2:46Speaker 1: Well, as I think I told you or something, the
- 2:48hottest I've ever been at a practice of any kind
- 2:52was when we did the joint practice against the Dolphins
- 2:55in Miami two years ago. And I honestly thought that
- 2:59if I wanted to know what hell felt like, that
- 3:01was probably it. I mean that, because that was the
- 3:04one hundred degrees and one hundred percent humidity. There was
- 3:07just You're just standing in your own soup watching football.
- 3:11That's the hottest I've ever been LEI for most people
- 3:14who don't even realize this. Most of the morning practices
- 3:18started at eight a m. So that was intentional there.
- 3:22Those practices weren't that bad. You know, hour hour and
- 3:25a half, you're down by nine thirty, so the temperature
- 3:27is still rising at that point. But the afternoon special
- 3:32teams ten ten and the ten ten tens were just
- 3:36got awful. Especially August. We get really really humid in August.
- 3:43It's very strange, you know. Reuben Frank and I to
- 3:44talk about this because it was like located in the mountains,
- 3:47right and you're in a valley. There were days where
- 3:50it felt like the humidity was not there, like you
- 3:54trap the cool, breezy air in, and then there were
- 3:56days where it's like nope, nope, I feel like I'm
- 3:58walking around a bullet piece. So it was just a weird.
- 4:02And then yeah, those storms would roll in and roll out,
- 4:04which you don't have to worry about the novacare not
- 4:06because A you can go inside, but B the time
- 4:10they practiced, they don't have any late afternoon practices. When
- 4:12thunderstorms are known to roll in around here, we're usually done,
- 4:16so I don't know they've moved inside for rain. A
- 4:19couple of times over the last year for years, Andrew,
- 4:21you probably remember that, but not usually a thunderstorm at
- 4:25during practice.
- 4:25Speaker 3: I don't think, no, no, no, no, nothing like that that
- 4:28I can remember.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so there there's always been some positives and
- 4:32some benefits. But hey, the big positive for us is
- 4:35that all three of us were at Monday's practice. So
- 4:38that's great. I mean, we've had full attendance since Andrew's
- 4:42been to every practice. I've been to two, Adam eve
- 4:44been to one, but we're all there on Monday. I'm
- 4:46sorry too, too, my fault. So yeah, we've been well
- 4:48attended from Inside the Birds standpoint, and Monday was a
- 4:52good day. It was a ramp up day for those
- 4:55who read Andrew de Checo's article on Inside the Birds
- 4:57dot com. It was the first time they were in
- 5:00shorts and shells and Adam, that is always the prelude
- 5:04to then the padded practice, which we expect Tuesday today.
- 5:09For those listening for the pads to come out, would
- 5:12you be surprised if they didn't, Like, do you have
- 5:14any knowledge that maybe they're gonna do a couple of
- 5:16shorts and shells?
- 5:17Speaker 2: I think the pend I think this is supposed to be.
- 5:19This was the plan after the five day acclamation period, right,
- 5:22and I think they get I think, for me, what's
- 5:26that the.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Pads were going to be on tomorrow?
- 5:30Speaker 2: Okay, I believe. I believe that. The last time I
- 5:34looked at the CB, I think was sixteen pet of
- 5:36practices for training camp per club something like that. And
- 5:42and I know coaches sometimes they they also like, let's
- 5:44say they on a ten plan. Some coaches, if they
- 5:47think the club needs it to kick their ass, they'll
- 5:50put them in ninety five degree weather in Pats. Now
- 5:54Eagles don't hit. What I found comical? Is there more
- 5:58and more teams hitting, Like Aaron Glenna apparently did a
- 6:00really long hitting session. I love it. I know we're
- 6:05gonna have thudd little elbow, little shoulder, but no tackling
- 6:09to the ground here in phil. So I'm starting to
- 6:11figure this out right. The NFL goes in cycles. We
- 6:13all know this, but part of the cycles depends on
- 6:16sort of like what the cycle of coaching hires is.
- 6:19Also for a while, if you were like touched by
- 6:22Sean McVay at all, Like if you rubbed your shoulder
- 6:25against Sean McVay as you passed him, you were gonna
- 6:27be a head coaching candidate for a job. We know
- 6:30there's so many McVay disciples in the league, and McVeagh
- 6:34is not a guy who hits a camp. So you
- 6:35see a lot of camps run by McVeigh guys that
- 6:38are light in nature.
- 6:40Speaker 1: But when you talk about Andy Reid disciples and now
- 6:43Bill Parcells still has his guys, and let's face it, Campbell,
- 6:46Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn come from a parcelsan tree
- 6:50from way back. When those guys are gonna be more
- 6:54like the old school type and they are gonna hit
- 6:56and hit hard. And so if if the more success
- 6:59that Dan Campbell, you got more and more Parcels people
- 7:02start coaching around league, you'll probably see hitting come back
- 7:05in style. It's just what people grew up on that
- 7:08That's that's where I'm starting to see about it. I
- 7:11think in general, we'll never go back to what it
- 7:13used to be. And even even today when they're in pads, Andrew,
- 7:17you've seen all the padded practices in the overcare for
- 7:20a few years. It's not like the first pad of
- 7:22practice under Andy, where it was all right, we're in
- 7:24pads let's go bloodbath for two hours.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Right, we're going live, live, We're going live, and you
- 7:30know what's coming.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Man.
- 7:31Speaker 2: That's when truly pads would pop. I don't call what
- 7:34Eagles doing, pat, They're not popping. No one's getting hit.
- 7:37I laughed at that when they say that. Yeh yeah, yeah.
- 7:41As a matter of fact, And Monday's practice is funny.
- 7:44A couple of guys got shoulder They're not supposed to
- 7:46do that. Yeah, a couple of guys got shoulders.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Throw a shoulder and Will Shipley that's one of them.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Yes, that was the thing I did. Yeah, yep.
- 7:55Speaker 1: And Campbell broke through the line on a goal line
- 7:58drill and kind of knocked the ball out of Tanner
- 7:59McKey hands.
- 8:00Speaker 3: With wearing the red jersey.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Yes, right, gotta teach Campbell not to do that. But
- 8:09all right, so let's let's talk about the Monday practice
- 8:12because there was shorts and chills. I thought it was
- 8:14the most Andrew, would you agree that this was the
- 8:18that was the best practice for the defense since it
- 8:21all started.
- 8:22Speaker 3: I and I thought the coverage was sticky. They were physical,
- 8:27and I thought there was some decent pressure, especially from
- 8:29the interior that really disrupted the time in quarterbacks. You
- 8:32saw them hold the ball a tick longer than they
- 8:34would have liked to. They evacuated the pocket on member
- 8:38numerous occasions. Two interceptions, there could have been a third.
- 8:41I thought the defense had a really good day.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Yeah, now you know I have when you do this
- 8:45for as long as me and Adam have, Right. I
- 8:47walked up to both of you guys and I said,
- 8:48you know what, there's been no turnovers in camp up
- 8:52to this point. I don't know if that that's gonna stick.
- 8:55And even Andrews said, yeah, I feel like that's going
- 8:57to change today. And Adam, you know, we saw Jalen
- 9:00Hurts and I'll go into the whole schematics of it
- 9:03in a second. We'll talk about it. But Jalen Hurts
- 9:04threw a pick and then I think it was McKee
- 9:08was a m getting picked off going to he.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Comic cord. He hit a couple of throws he liked
- 9:13to have back on big nice. Yeah, looking at my notes.
- 9:17Because he doesn't have a very strong arm, He's got it.
- 9:20He's got to get space, he's got to get a
- 9:22clean and that ball's got to come out. He's a
- 9:23quick processor. But he's got to have the right footwork
- 9:27or that ball does not come out. He had hit
- 9:28a couple of short ones he did.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like if we were to just take
- 9:33the interceptions and say that's why the defense had a
- 9:35good day, we're selling it short because I thought I
- 9:38thought in general, it wasn't the interceptions, Adam. I thought
- 9:41it was that. I think Andrew just mentioned. The coverage
- 9:44was the quarterbacks had to hold onto the ball quite
- 9:47a bit, and they ad took advantage of the whole
- 9:50nobody's gonna hit me in training camp rule quite a
- 9:53bit there, even some of the completions which look good
- 9:56on the offense when you're like, wait a minute, that
- 9:58took ten to twelve seconds to exactly exactly.
- 10:03Speaker 2: In fact, they should have called a couple of moments.
- 10:05I'm like, why are they not calling the play dead?
- 10:06This would never happen in a regular game. Would have
- 10:09got hit or the ball would have come out of
- 10:11the quarterback's hands. Make a fair point, they were trying
- 10:13to make it happen, just they would take it too long.
- 10:17They're just it was just it was too many delays
- 10:21with the ball, Like okay, get rid of the football.
- 10:24To the point it was getting bad. Now again, it's
- 10:26only one practice. I don't read anything into it. Again,
- 10:30We're going to continue to say this. Now, if it
- 10:32happens like four days in a row, you got a problem.
- 10:34It's one day. I don't care. It doesn't mean anything,
- 10:36but it's something to watch though. Yeah, have to make it.
- 10:39It's our job to make a note of it, but
- 10:40not make a big deal out of it. We just
- 10:42don't do that. That's why we're in your eight. People
- 10:44listen to us because they know we're going to get
- 10:46this straight skinny from us, but we're gonna point it out.
- 10:49We all saw the same thing, holding on the ball
- 10:51way too long, and when you do that, if it's
- 10:55a real game, you're going down. That's the way it is.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and part of it, Andrew, I don't know. I
- 10:59think you were there for Cam Jergens where you're not, Andrew.
- 11:02Speaker 3: I was talking to towers Stein at the time, right,
- 11:05they were going on simultaneously.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yeah, and Cam said that the defense did things in
- 11:10Monday's practice that it hadn't been doing for the first
- 11:14three or four days, so it caught them by surprise,
- 11:16which is the cat and mouse of how training camp goes,
- 11:18and that's why you'll have certain days where the offense
- 11:21looks good, certain days where the defense looks good. So
- 11:24one of the things we noticed and we all talked
- 11:26about this, and I wrote down a number and I
- 11:28had the wrong guy because I thought Smile Monda was
- 11:30in the play, but he didn't even practice. But the
- 11:33interception that Hurts through was a really interesting play with
- 11:36the defenses to we get to see the defense right
- 11:39more clearly than the offense because it's coming at us.
- 11:42And what I saw on that play stuck out to me.
- 11:44One was there was a stunt up front, so they
- 11:47were playing some line games, and then that stunt caused
- 11:50an open gap and somebody, it must have been Reblanketship.
- 11:53Maybe I had the number wrong. I thought it was
- 11:54mind and whatever ran through the a gap sort of untouched,
- 11:58and that forced Jalen Hurts to throw it because he
- 12:01saw that there was a free ride and b that
- 12:03it was one on one coverage down the sideline to
- 12:05AJ Brown. But he really underthrew it woefully. And Quinnon Mitchell,
- 12:10who Andrew you thought was had a good camp right,
- 12:13has made a really nice one handed interception on that.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, Jayleen Hurts obviously throw it off his
- 12:18back foot, try to get it to his guy AJ.
- 12:20But I thought Quinyon Mitchell really read that well intercepted
- 12:23it Christian Parker on the sideline. The Eagles dbast coach
- 12:26was fired up. But Quinnon, this is on the heels
- 12:29of making a big play against DeVante Smith down the
- 12:31sideline on Saturday, and then previously the day before that,
- 12:35he had a nice showing against AJ Brown and then
- 12:38if you notice, guys, he was also working a little
- 12:40bit on the right side as well, which really checks
- 12:43out if you listen to what Vick Vanrew had to
- 12:45say about him traveling this season.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And by the way, he also had a
- 12:49pass breakup on AJ Brown a couple of plays earlier,
- 12:52at an interception on I think a cross or like
- 12:54a dig over the middle where he was able to
- 12:56stay in his hip pocket and then just batted down
- 13:00the past the last second. Adam, that's hard. Remember when A. J.
- 13:02Brown first came to the Eagles and he was just
- 13:04abusing the Eagles quarterbacks and we talked about even if
- 13:07they had tight coverage, you would just wrestle the ball
- 13:09out of their hands.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, look, I remember his first year when I've
- 13:14told this before if you'reknew to our show, because I
- 13:17could still see it in front of me. The subtle hands.
- 13:20You know, he talks about late hands, but it's actually
- 13:22subtle hands. He never gets called. He never gets called.
- 13:25So he did a subtle push off on a sideline pass.
- 13:30Sleigh was on him. He had great coverage, but he
- 13:32leveraged him with a little bit of a shove. You
- 13:34couldn't see it, Like, there's no way a ref could
- 13:36have seen it. I'm like, how did he do that? Well,
- 13:39it's he's just really good. He has his own technique.
- 13:42He's really good at it. So, yeah, Quinnon trail, he
- 13:46trails real well. Match Carrie, deliver, you name it. Everything
- 13:50that they're asked to do, he does really really well.
- 13:53I liked that they're flipping sides with him, that all
- 13:55of them are kind of doing that. The top guys
- 13:57are switching sides. That's smart because you never know what's
- 13:59going to hap happened, right, It's not yeah for matchup purposes,
- 14:02because if you're gonna, if you if if you're gonna,
- 14:05if you're gonna let the guy trail, you need to
- 14:08do that. And then the other thing is if somebody
- 14:10gets hurt, you need someone who could play that other
- 14:12side because they're not real deep a corner. Let's let's
- 14:14face it true.
- 14:16Speaker 1: So why don't we actually Andrew go to the other
- 14:19side on that corner?
- 14:20Speaker 2: Right?
- 14:20Speaker 1: I mean, Dori Jackson got pretty much the in the
- 14:24eleven on elevens at Dori Jackson got the first team reps?
- 14:26How many days in a row? Now? Is that for him?
- 14:28Speaker 4: That's three in a row and you know four, that's
- 14:32three out of four and again you'll you'll learn more
- 14:35when the Pats come on, obviously, but Dory Jackson has
- 14:38surrendered fewer big plays than Keeley Ringo through four practices.
- 14:42Speaker 3: That's just a fact of the matter. And I know
- 14:46that there was this sentiment that a Doory Jackson didn't
- 14:48have a lot left at twenty nine years old, but
- 14:51I mean, based on what we've seen, and it hasn't
- 14:53been a lot, granted, but that that would be the contrary.
- 14:56I think he conducts himself like a veteran and you
- 15:00see the urgency in the way that he moves, and
- 15:03you know, it's something to keep an eye on here
- 15:04moving forward. If he gets a fourth day in a row.
- 15:06That kind of reminds me of what happened with Isaiah
- 15:08Rodgers and Kailee Ringo last summer.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Yeah, right, doesn't that sound familiar to a little bit.
- 15:16Speaker 2: But I caution, let's get through the first full week
- 15:19that they haven't had a full week of practice yet.
- 15:21I don't make any judgments. It doesn't look good so far.
- 15:24But you mentioned the pads, and we got to get
- 15:27through a full This is a full week, by the way,
- 15:29the practicing five out of seven days, you're gonna we're
- 15:31gonna know where this thing is at. You won't have
- 15:32to guess, think or visualized. You'll know exactly where this
- 15:38comp It's none def with the calcultar. Everybody's all calcua.
- 15:41Terra's to the two. He's not the two yet right
- 15:43now he is. You gotta get through. You got to
- 15:45get through a full week. We got to get more physical.
- 15:48There's there's so much more to go here before we
- 15:50start making declarations.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Sure, this is where we start learning more when the
- 15:54pads come on.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Absolutely, So let's let's stick in the secondary. A couple
- 15:58of things that jumped out so at Saturday's practice, Mkuba
- 16:02and Gray got hurt, right, then they run into each other.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Is that?
- 16:05Speaker 3: Is that what they lighted on Saturday? And no Gray
- 16:09with the with the finger injury and no Makuba with
- 16:11the shoulder today.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like these are two guys that really
- 16:14can't afford to miss too much time either. Don't you
- 16:16think at them? I mean they got to these are
- 16:18prove it guys. Well, I mean, well, he's not a
- 16:20team but he's trying to be for a start to start.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Yeah, he's trying to there there, Let's be honest. He
- 16:25should be starting by the end of training camp. But
- 16:28missing practice, you know, it's a shame. And what I
- 16:30do worry about because he can't you can't really do
- 16:33anything until he could take contact on that shoulder. We
- 16:35don't know what shoulder it was. It happened late in
- 16:37Saturday's practice, right, So that's valuable pract you know, that's
- 16:41valuable practice time for rookie because you know what Vic
- 16:44does and we saw this last summer. If you doesn't
- 16:46think you have enough practice time, you're not getting on
- 16:48the field to be a starter. So he's got to
- 16:50get out.
- 16:51Speaker 1: There, right, and Brown was basically the first team safety
- 16:55Andrew when.
- 16:56Speaker 3: He took most of those. He took most of those reps.
- 16:59I don't I don't see. I didn't remember seeing anything
- 17:02with in terms of the rotation with Tristan McCollum or
- 17:06anything like that. It was pretty much Sydney right.
- 17:09Speaker 1: And what was the witty pun that I came up with?
- 17:11I know everybody wants to know about Lewis scene, but
- 17:14so far he's been heard more than scene. Is that
- 17:16it's true?
- 17:17Speaker 2: Is there is there a fifteen he might be on it?
- 17:20Speaker 3: Yeah, him and Max and Hook.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Yeah, so clearly there's there. And again we're just one weekend.
- 17:28But if there's gonna be some ascent which usually start
- 17:32to see when the pads come out and then go
- 17:33into week two, we'll have to monitor that.
- 17:35Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah, just real quick, you I get it.
- 17:40Padded practice are the most important of all practices. It's
- 17:42not the end all be all. It's it's not like,
- 17:44you know what, We're gonna have ten practices that are
- 17:46padded every every other practice means absolutely nothing like that's
- 17:49not the way it works. You've got to be careful
- 17:51of what padded practices are because there's no hitting, right,
- 17:55it's you're wearing padded. You're wearing pats. Yes, that's you're
- 17:58wearing more or less your uniform, right, but let's not
- 18:01ignore other practices. Be careful because you're not you're selling
- 18:05other guys short because there by the way their guys
- 18:07are standing out like that. Terrace Marshall, we've talked about
- 18:10a lot so far standing out and Annia Smith, who's
- 18:13been very his usage guys when they go to eleven,
- 18:17he's the third receiver inside. Right, that's happened for one
- 18:22action when I wasn't there, I heard he's been like that,
- 18:24So clearly they see something in him. Now, as you said, okay,
- 18:28the pads are gonna come on, he's got to show up.
- 18:30But na Smith here has got a real shot, and
- 18:32not only to make the team he's a draftee, but
- 18:34they actually.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Have a role. Yeah.
- 18:36Speaker 3: So far he hasn't really stood out in team drills,
- 18:39but I thought today in one on ones he did.
- 18:41He had some nice some nice reps against Cooper Dejen
- 18:45separating at the top of routes, using his quickness and
- 18:47things like that. This is a very big summer for
- 18:49an Ias. He's also getting some looks as a punt returner.
- 18:52As well. Needless to say, if he's able to showcase
- 18:54that he can provide some value there, that's going to
- 18:56go a long way in helping him earn a roster spot.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Andrew, you had a note on defense, getting back that
- 19:02way about McWilliams, Mac McWilliams, mack McWilliams, round pick. What
- 19:09have you seen.
- 19:11Speaker 3: He's feisty, he's competitive, He plays a little bit bigger
- 19:14than his size would indicate. He had a nice breakup
- 19:16in the red zone against six foot six Johnny Wilson.
- 19:20He has really good instincts. It's been a solid showing
- 19:23for him through four practices. I think if if he's
- 19:26able to continue to grow within this nickel role, that's
- 19:30going to give Vick some optionality. He also got some
- 19:32looks in dime packages previously that had been mcooba. Mccooba
- 19:36wasn't there. McWilliams got the opportunity today. I think he's
- 19:39you know, it seems like he's a little bit intriguing here.
- 19:42I'm gonna be keeping an.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Eye how strong as you think. You know, he's built
- 19:46well for his size. Oh, by the way, that pass
- 19:49you're told me with with Johnny Wilson Johnny Wilson's got
- 19:54to make a better effort. That ball was short. The
- 19:56ball was not It was not a good It was
- 19:57not a good pass. And remember now Mac mcwims is
- 20:01what five ten is, five to eleven, he's got six
- 20:04to eight inches on this guy, like you gotta I'm
- 20:07not the only one who saw that, and I'll leave
- 20:09it at that. The first thing I said, Jeff, and
- 20:11that's what we to talking about. The first thing I
- 20:13saw was like, man, you got to make a better
- 20:14effort when you got you're almost you're over half a
- 20:16foot taller in that guy. Yeah, it could actually have
- 20:19been picked off. To be honest with you, he should
- 20:20have made a better effort. He's the kind of guy
- 20:23if if he just understands what he's got in him.
- 20:28We talked about this last summer. He needs to learn
- 20:31how to use his size in the red zone. He
- 20:33should kill it with his size to him.
- 20:36Speaker 3: With that length, that that should be a unique advantage
- 20:39that the offense has when he's on the field. But
- 20:41he doesn't play to his size. He hasn't to this point.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Ye move to the front of the defense a little bit.
- 20:47I think the thing that stood out to me uh.
- 20:51We saw Jordan and again Jalen Carter just practiced for
- 20:54the first time on Monday, and I don't he did
- 20:56not do everything.
- 20:57Speaker 2: You know.
- 20:57Speaker 1: It's funny they keep saying John Campbell is limited, and
- 21:00like in what way? Because he's out there a lot.
- 21:03I don't, so I don't understand the limit, the limited
- 21:05nature on him. But Jill and Carter took reps, but
- 21:09not all of them as they're easing him back in.
- 21:12So in four man Front, we saw Jordan Davis next
- 21:16to like Morojomo so in a in a in a
- 21:18in a sort of three technique pass rusher role that
- 21:22they coaches have said, and Jordan Davis has said that
- 21:25he's really, you know, anticipating more of you guys. Notice anything.
- 21:29I I tried to focus in on it, and what
- 21:32I did notice is on a few pass rush I
- 21:34felt he continued to get high on the pass rush
- 21:38and lose his leverage, which went to your point, because you, yeah,
- 21:42just because you lose doesn't mean your technique is going
- 21:45to be right right now.
- 21:46Speaker 2: In fact, I remember turning to you he got way
- 21:47too high. It was so obvious you got completion. This
- 21:51is what Greg co sel taught us. When he is
- 21:53bad technique, he is so out of the play. Which
- 21:55about Jordan Davis here. Yes, and as I said last
- 21:58week the weight loss, it only matters if you use
- 22:01proper technique because what will happen? Though he should when
- 22:05when you Greg pointed this out because because of the fit,
- 22:08because of the stamina and conditioning, he would get sloppy
- 22:12with his technique because he probably was not in condition. Well,
- 22:14condition is not a problem for him. He looks great physically,
- 22:17so the technique should be better. And he knows better
- 22:19than to get high and he just the like I
- 22:23said last week, he'd be two seven. He doesn't matter
- 22:25if you don't use proper technique.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Andrew, what did you notice about the inside linebackers? Obviously
- 22:31with Campbell mixing with Trotter, Trotter seems to be pretty active.
- 22:35Speaker 3: I think so far Trotter has had a solid camp. Today,
- 22:39he forced an incompletion on the sideline to say kuon Barkley.
- 22:43I thought he did a nice job closing there, looked
- 22:46all right during one on ones, and he he made
- 22:48some nice plays and run fits. He's very instinctive good
- 22:51play recognition, so I thought that he did a solid job.
- 22:55Campbell's still working in with the ones that's going to
- 22:57obviously continue barring something unforeseen. And then outside of that,
- 23:02the Eagles don't have a lot of bodies there at linebackers,
- 23:04so without Mondon Jr. You're seeing the likes of Dallas
- 23:07Gant working with the second and third team and Lance
- 23:10Stixon as well.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's I remember the second Pact, I think
- 23:15that was the last Thursday. You probably remember this too,
- 23:18that they ran a few crossers that Trotter was like,
- 23:21it was just like a hair off. I remember the one.
- 23:23He almost broke up and got mad and he slapped
- 23:25his fans. It seems like in coverage he knows where
- 23:29to be, he's sound, he can, he can you can
- 23:32get in front of him with the crosser. But when
- 23:35they try those runs or when they like you're saying,
- 23:37he's been able to get downhill and he flows to
- 23:39the ball really quickly, that's kind of the book on
- 23:42him anyway, right, And that's where you see the big
- 23:44difference between Campbell and Trotter in terms of athleticism and
- 23:48being able to kind of flow sideline to sideline and
- 23:51get to where you need to go and then make
- 23:52the play. Trotter Junior oftentimes will find himself in the
- 23:55in the right in the right position. But teams will
- 23:58you know, they have the propensity to pick on players
- 24:02like that.
- 24:04Speaker 3: If you're not able to close quickly.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Yeah, well, Adam, anything else defensively that jumped out at
- 24:09you that you want.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I got three notes. Yeah, I have three notes.
- 24:12So what I loved is you were alluding to it.
- 24:15But I'll take it one step further. Formationally, they were
- 24:17doing a lot of stuff doing Money's practice.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:20Speaker 2: They they had a couple of nice overloads which I
- 24:23really liked, with two edges on one side. And I
- 24:28don't know if it was to you, I said to
- 24:29somebody else.
- 24:29Speaker 1: You did to me.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Yeah, And they gotta choose who they're gonna who they're
- 24:33gonna try to block, because I don't know how like
- 24:34it happened so quickly, and they disguised it really well.
- 24:37See for a team that doesn't blitz, you gotta or
- 24:42we know they're the kings of sim pressures. But if
- 24:44you're not gonna send six or sometimes five, you gotta
- 24:48you gotta change it up a little bit. And Vick
- 24:50is for all the knocks vic got before he got
- 24:52to Philly. He's not imaginative and all this stuff, you
- 24:55could throw it out the window. It all works, man,
- 24:58it all works. And I'll tell you what. Josh uche
- 25:01moves real well, he's number zero. I did notice him
- 25:03on Monday. He looked he can move. Obo Conchro got
- 25:09a lot of work with the twos, like see, here's
- 25:13the thing they have depth. How good it is is
- 25:16the question. We know it's too early. Ouch could play.
- 25:19He can move like. He didn't look stiff at all.
- 25:22Now again it's training camp practice, but for some people
- 25:25said he can't play anymore. I'm not going to go
- 25:27there at all.
- 25:29Speaker 1: I did ask Moro a Jomo if the front did
- 25:34more exotic stuff and line games today, and both I
- 25:36asked as well, had said. Jomo agreed they did more
- 25:41upfront and said that Monday was a must I forget
- 25:46what he termed it, like a musk call or a
- 25:47must do day, meaning whatever play call was called the
- 25:52hats there was no I guess certain times you can,
- 25:54like if you're a pass rusher, you can sort of
- 25:56create your own plan and do what you want to do.
- 25:58But everybody had to go buy the book on Monday
- 26:01and do what they were told to do. So I
- 26:03thought that was pretty interesting.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Oh, one more, Patrick Johnson got a ton of work
- 26:08he got What was that all about?
- 26:11Speaker 3: Yeah, he got He got a decent amount of work
- 26:13on Saturday as well.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember looking at you guys going, is that
- 26:17Patrick Johnson opposite Jelex Hunt there on the first team,
- 26:19And it sure was.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know what honestly, And I didn't track
- 26:24Doald Smith snaps because I saw him a lot earlier
- 26:26than that. I didn't see him a lot the rest
- 26:28of practice because they were working in and o'conchrow and
- 26:33it was Lauri got a ton of work early and
- 26:35then they were they were they were just rolling guys in,
- 26:37which is typical. And then like the second half of practice,
- 26:40I'm like, Patrick Johnson's got a lot of work with
- 26:42the ones. He's a guy that if he makes it,
- 26:45almost certainly won't play on defense. He's been a special
- 26:47teams player for most of his career. But I just,
- 26:49I mean, I got to make a note of it.
- 26:51I mean, again, it's unlikely ever to play on defense
- 26:55very much, if at all, But I just thought it.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Was he had a nice summer last year and then
- 27:00he made the team. That was he didn't play on
- 27:01defense at all, you know what I mean, it was
- 27:04just solely on special teams.
- 27:06Speaker 1: He's like the new Stephen means. I mean, he just
- 27:08rapped every practice. Okay, but then you know, make the
- 27:12fifty three and then you sit on the bench special teams. Steve, Yeah,
- 27:16all right, good, let's transition to the offense. We mentioned
- 27:18the quarterbacks. You know that was a day and then listen,
- 27:21I think they're tied hand in hand. When the defense
- 27:23does stuff the way it did and confuses the offense,
- 27:27which has gone three four days. This is why joint
- 27:29practices are really good, because you see something other than
- 27:33your own offense or your own alignments, you know, for
- 27:36the next three days. I think that that's part of
- 27:37the reason why the offense was out of sync, because
- 27:40the defense was trying some different things. And that's fine,
- 27:43that's gonna happen. It's part of camp. Adam. You liked
- 27:46what you saw on Nia Smith Andrew. You've talked about
- 27:49christ Marshall too, right, Yeah.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Turreth Marshall, and we've outlined the issues for him over
- 27:54this career. If you if you note our show listened
- 27:56to last week's shows, we kind of gave you everything
- 27:58you need to know about Terres Marshall. He's got the
- 28:00ideal left. At around six y three, he could run.
- 28:03He's more of a intermediate than a nine route runner.
- 28:06He's more of a seven route. But the guy's got
- 28:09ideal left. He's just a better football player in Johnny Wilson.
- 28:12But you know what, he's been on four teams. There's
- 28:15a reason. It's consistency to his approach. It's being coachable,
- 28:20it's playing to your level of talent. He doesn't play
- 28:23off to this level of talent. That's been his problem.
- 28:25But he's got a wonderful opportunity to make this team.
- 28:28We know they're not going to be a team that's
- 28:29kind of play a lot of eleven personnel because they're
- 28:31gonna be overrun team again. But the bottom line is
- 28:35he's got a chance. I know he doesn't really play
- 28:37special teams, but the guy, again no offense of Johnny Wilson,
- 28:40plays a little bit of special teams. But Terres Marshall
- 28:43watched both Wilson eighty nine, If folks, if you get
- 28:45to go to practice and forty six, Marshall look how
- 28:48fluid Marshall's comparably to Wilson.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Oh, yes, it's not even close. I mean Johnny Wilson
- 28:52to the only thing the only thing that Johnny Wilson
- 28:55has right now over terras Marshall's that he played twenty
- 28:58four percent of the special teams last year. But a
- 29:02note on a nice smith. He looks noticeably more confident
- 29:06than he did last summer. He's running routes and everything
- 29:10he's doing there's a lot more advanced than what he
- 29:12was doing last year when he was trying to find
- 29:14his way. And again talking to him last year, coming
- 29:16off the injury, it gave him a different perspective where
- 29:19he was able to kind of take a step back,
- 29:20let the game slow down a little bit, and it
- 29:23seemed like he was starting to build some more confidence.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean the first obviously learning thing is that
- 29:29he's not I don't think he's dropping past his left
- 29:32and right the wind.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Now, well, you know what, remember he missed their hall
- 29:36pretty much with the whole offseason program. He had two
- 29:39different injuries he was dealing with. To me, this is
- 29:41almost like his rookie season. He takes what he banged
- 29:44from a learning standpoint last summer, but he didn't really
- 29:46perform and now he's got a chance to do it.
- 29:49And honestly, if you look at their guys who could
- 29:51play slot. Tervis Marshall's not a slot receiver, but he
- 29:55could play inside if you need him to, because he's
- 29:57done it before it. DeVante Smith's numbers over the years
- 29:59are good inside and Jeff, you would have knowe. You
- 30:01and I were discussing on during Monday with Johan Dotson.
- 30:05What do you see from Dotson and usage and so.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Well, it's hard because DeVante Sith was not he did
- 30:10not practice Monday. What what's the he's a little banged
- 30:12up Andrews right, So the note I noted. What I
- 30:19noticed is that they continue to use dots in in
- 30:22reduced splits like he might be outside, but he's really
- 30:26inside because they're tighter splits, which is what the US
- 30:29did a lot last year, especially when they ran so
- 30:31he doesn't line up in a typical normal slot receiver alignment,
- 30:36you know when you go like three wide right and
- 30:39you have your interior slot receiver. They they're just they
- 30:42do they don't use him. They didn't even use them
- 30:44like that last year. A whole lot either because he's
- 30:47not a natural slot receiver, but also on Monday, they
- 30:51probably did that because he was playing more of a
- 30:53move Z. I imagine.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Definitely he is a Z by the way.
- 30:58Speaker 1: That's that's what he is, right right, And.
- 31:01Speaker 2: With him, you're right because you have to reduce him.
- 31:03He's not gonna win as a pure outside receiver. Is
- 31:06his knock with Washington's two Finesse didn't win routes when
- 31:13he should win against certain dbs who got physical with him.
- 31:16But the way they use them, they' freeing them up.
- 31:18And man, he can move like he could run, though,
- 31:20say what you want about him, the dude could run.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, Andrew, you've spent in every practice. I
- 31:26feel like he's probably getting more targets from hurts per
- 31:30day practice rep than say, this time last year. Well
- 31:34not this time last year, he wasn't traded there yet,
- 31:36but but in just in general, you know.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, having that full off season obviously it
- 31:41allows you to build that confidence and continuity with the quarterback.
- 31:44He joined the Eagles about two weeks before the team
- 31:47left for Brazil last season, so naturally you're kind of
- 31:50being shoehorned into the offense and you're not really able
- 31:53to find your footing. Later in the season, he acknowledged
- 31:55that he started to build more confidence and trust and familiarity.
- 31:59And then you saw all the postseason that he had
- 32:01and in training camp he's he's been pretty active. He
- 32:05seems like there's a purpose, there's a role for him
- 32:08this time around.
- 32:09Speaker 1: All right, right, all right, how about the offensive line?
- 32:12You know, I think obviously the starting Tyler Stein has
- 32:16gotten every rep. It feels like this is the one
- 32:18that maybe the competition is not really a competition as
- 32:22long as Tyler Steen stays healthy. Again, Adam, this is
- 32:25where you say, don't get carried away. Things can happen.
- 32:28I would get carried with you want him to be
- 32:30the right guard, right, It's not.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Like a h would have to man, he would have Now.
- 32:34I know the pads are coming on today, I get it.
- 32:37But the rest of training camp, unless he really less,
- 32:40something happens. I know, the knock on him from a
- 32:42scouting standpoint, quite guy.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Gosh.
- 32:46Speaker 2: I remember this was yesterday because I talked to this
- 32:48line coach who great him for the draft three years ago,
- 32:52said he's kind of like a not the greatest energy
- 32:55he needs to be coached, he needs to buy in
- 32:58and this is a new position for him. But he
- 33:00looks like a different guy. He looks much better. Technique
- 33:03is better. You could see if you because I want
- 33:05the first like forty five minutes of practice obviously with
- 33:08the offensive lineman, because I wanted to see Keegan, who
- 33:10again is the third team center. Andrew had that great note.
- 33:13I totally forgot about that when he took some reps
- 33:15at center at senior ball, and you're seeing it now
- 33:17like that they need centers, like you know they you'd
- 33:22rather not have Dickerson do it if Jurgens couldn't play,
- 33:25so but they are mixing and matching. By the way,
- 33:28Canard's played, had a couple of different positions in training
- 33:31camp Darian Canard, so they're doing some different things.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I know, Andrew, you're you're bullish on Canard? Do you
- 33:36think that? You know, he's made the fifty three last
- 33:40year and he's there's like seven more linemen in camp
- 33:43this year, but he still has the versatility to play
- 33:46both right guard and right tackle. Yeah.
- 33:49Speaker 3: I got to know him a little bit last year
- 33:50talking to him, and that's somebody that was obviously intriguing
- 33:53when they signed him to a reserve future steal last
- 33:56summer and our last offseason, and he can give you
- 33:59that versus two. He right tackle and he played right
- 34:01guard when Stein hurt his ankle, so he moonlighted there
- 34:04a little bit, so that optionality could help. And he
- 34:07does give you some experience. It's a developmental upside over
- 34:10maybe some of the other players.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Yeah, have you played him in ping pong yet?
- 34:14Speaker 3: No, but he's their ping pong champion, their resident champion, all.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Right, just making sure, so Keegan snap, I tried to
- 34:21get you. Guys may have heard me. I tried to
- 34:23get Nick Siriani in his press conference to admit that
- 34:26he really would like a back up, a true backup
- 34:28center that's not named by the Dickerson. But he wasn't.
- 34:31He wasn't taking the bait there. But I mean it's
- 34:33pretty obvious. You got you draft Drew Kendall, who can
- 34:36who's a center, and now you have Trevor Keegan, who
- 34:39has not been a center much. Did it in Senia
- 34:41Bowl taking snaps and I think he took reps a
- 34:43third team center at the practice. Everybody, yeah, yeah, And
- 34:47then I think he had a holding in the red
- 34:48zone drill that got him a little bit of an
- 34:50earful but but nonetheless, I mean they're they're really looking
- 34:55to see if somebody can handle that role real quick.
- 34:58Speaker 2: Andrew, did you see Kennell play? I have not him
- 35:00line up of guard? Have you seen him line up
- 35:01of guard yet?
- 35:02Speaker 1: No?
- 35:02Speaker 3: Just center?
- 35:03Speaker 1: I do think so, Okay, yeah, because Toath is now
- 35:06basically playing guard, right yeah, I mean we'll focus backup
- 35:11center and then he.
- 35:12Speaker 3: And then second team left guard right right.
- 35:16Speaker 1: So so yeah, that competition will will continue to go on,
- 35:19all right, observations other ones Adam offensively as we're talking
- 35:24anything on the backup quarterbacks that stuck out to you.
- 35:28Speaker 2: McKee Again, his mobility is good. He needs to like now.
- 35:33Typically he processes super quickly and gets One of the
- 35:35things I really like about him is is that when
- 35:39you process quickly, run after the catch becomes a major factor.
- 35:42Like when you get it out, you're not even let
- 35:44the d the dB set up, or like I'll give
- 35:48you an example, like Herts had a great throw on
- 35:50a cross order Goddard.
- 35:53Speaker 1: He led Goddard like.
- 35:54Speaker 2: It was a five step drop, and that ball came
- 35:57out because Jaleen's not a big timing anticipation thrower, but Dish,
- 36:00I'm sure as I was that ball was out and
- 36:04Goddard could have run seventy yards like because the the
- 36:07dB was trailing and he put it out there, he
- 36:10goes go get it. That's what Tanner McKee specializes in. Now,
- 36:13on Monday, I thought he was trying to be he
- 36:16was trying to make the big play. He's got to
- 36:19play within rhythm, the way that he was coached, the
- 36:22way he typically plays. I don't know what was going
- 36:24on with him. And quite frankly, as we said to
- 36:27start the show with the quarterbacks, man, they were really
- 36:29holding the ball way too long. And now now, as
- 36:31you said, Jeff, they're throwing a lot at them, and
- 36:35that's probably something to do with them. They were not
- 36:36expecting it.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Didn't McKee. Have McKee have one real nice touch pass
- 36:40though that Johnny Wilson right, yeah, yeah, because there were
- 36:45a couple I believe it was in the middle of
- 36:46his zone and the linebacker was dropping back and the
- 36:50safety was coming in and he put it in the
- 36:52right spot where you're gonna hit Johnny Wilson there.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Yeah, right, And McCollum was trailing a little bit and
- 36:57if I'm remembering that play right, Yeah, so it was pas.
- 37:01Speaker 1: It is nice because you know, sometimes the rocket arm
- 37:03guys don't have the greatest touch pass, but I think
- 37:06he does. I mean he can put it over the
- 37:08middle pretty nicely.
- 37:10Speaker 3: And he processes quickly usually.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Yeah. So we all were there to see the the
- 37:16worst play of the day, which that non worst non
- 37:19interception play. Poor Kylon Grantson had a chance to really
- 37:24make his name know and had a chance to catch
- 37:26a nice little time. That was the red zone drill correct,
- 37:28and that was d t R through that had a
- 37:32couple of nice throws by the way.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Right, ye arm strengths man. By the way, that that's
- 37:36not the problem with him. It's just yeah, he's got
- 37:40he can move. It's just letting the game come to him.
- 37:44It's it's that's you know why Cleveland wanted to move him.
- 37:47But there was some talent with him, no doubt.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Yeah that Grantson, what is it was like a double
- 37:52bobble yeah.
- 37:53Speaker 3: And then and then I mean he was wide open
- 37:57in the in the back of the end zone. And
- 37:59then and then I think if I remember right, DTR
- 38:02hit nick me use to end practice, Yeah in him
- 38:06right and stride.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Like Adam said, when it's there and he sees it,
- 38:10he he hits it pretty well. He's got a good
- 38:12trigger arm. But you just don't see that on a
- 38:15on a consistent enough basis from DTR. And I still wonder.
- 38:18I mentioned this with Adam Andrew I'll get your opinion
- 38:21on it in the podcast that came out on Monday,
- 38:24is that he runs a lot, which is obviously one
- 38:27of his strengths. And I don't know if that's him
- 38:29running RPOs and dialing his own number or if the
- 38:32coaches are just using that in their play calling to
- 38:35the advantage. But I feel like it's hard to evaluate
- 38:38him more as a pass as a passer and taking
- 38:41up a roster spot when they have him doing a
- 38:43lot of zone read.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that might be something that the coaches are having
- 38:48him do. I'm not exactly sure, and maybe it's just
- 38:50instinct on his part, but he does that sometimes on
- 38:53seven on seven's and that's a that's a drill that's
- 38:56designed to get the ball out. I mean, it's I
- 38:58don't know, it's something to keep an eye.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Yeah, that's what, thank you, That's what
- 39:02I'd written down. Why are you doing this on seven
- 39:04on sevens when all you can do is stand back
- 39:07there and throw the ball? I remember, it's too right, right,
- 39:12It's just like dude, just you know, camp out there
- 39:14and throw it. Don't look better? Yeah? Yeah, all right,
- 39:18good stuff. That that's so that's summation. The first day
- 39:20in shorts and shells Tuesday. Today, I say is pads,
- 39:24so looking forward to those coming out and uh, we'll
- 39:27continue to do this and wrap up practice. Is there
- 39:29any other thoughts anyone had to to leave with here?
- 39:33But I will say this, I think Nick Sirianni, like I.
- 39:35Sometimes he gets a reputation for being so player friendly
- 39:39because he's all about his player's numbers and wearing their shirts.
- 39:42But when you watch him coach right and Adam. This
- 39:45has been consistent since his first year. He will coach,
- 39:48he coaches his coaches.
- 39:50Speaker 2: He okay, it was hot. I'm going to give you
- 39:52one one, one little story. I know I've told his
- 39:55story and I'm not going to repeat exactly what Sirianni
- 39:57said to Kenny Gainwell, but he went after Kenny game
- 40:00well out of practice in Cleveland and Kenny Game one
- 40:04had two mental hours in a row and that one's
- 40:06bad enough, and he let him have no He one
- 40:10of the the beauties of being a CEO head coach.
- 40:13And now we'll watch Tom Kaughlin do it for so
- 40:15many practice over the years. He knows the game. He's
- 40:19a Hall of Fame type coach to Tom, super Bowl
- 40:21winner as a head coach, I believe, and you know what,
- 40:24you don't have to worry about coaching position though he did.
- 40:27He's coach receives coach other positions before. But Nick has
- 40:31that freedom because he doesn't have to be somewhere. So
- 40:35you see him by the way he popped on defense
- 40:37on Monday. I saw him there. I was like, oh wow,
- 40:39interesting he's watching defense. And by the way Batulo, I
- 40:43know he's calling plays. But every once in a while,
- 40:46I'm not sure what, Like he'll pop into a position
- 40:49because you know he's coach receivers and quarterbacks. He'll take
- 40:52a second and he'll go over and see what's going
- 40:54on over there, and he'll go back because maybe it's
- 40:57in between pleasures. I don't know what it is, but
- 40:59so yeah, they this look. You don't become a Super
- 41:02Bowl team without having great coaching. They coach the hell
- 41:04out of these guys, there's no doubt indeed.
- 41:06Speaker 1: And by the way, the pads coming out means that
- 41:08the lineman versus offensive lineman defensive lineman one on one's
- 41:11getting yeah. Yeah.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Do you remember going to the senior ball when they
- 41:23called it the pit It would be the offensive defensive
- 41:26lineman going after each other. I mean it was because
- 41:30you're not you know, there's no hitting, but they hit,
- 41:33they punched, and you're trying to beat each other.
- 41:36Speaker 1: It was just something else contact. Yeah, yeah, to your point,
- 41:40it gets sort of that, like the the linemen who
- 41:44are not participating in circle, they become like fans circle. Right,
- 41:47you hit on an Eagles camp, it's a little quieter
- 41:50and sometimes the veteran offensive lineman Herriman's just talking about that,
- 41:55don't get you know, nobody ever wanted to face Trent
- 41:57Cole because Trent Cole went one hundred mile prior on
- 42:00August eleventh, on the fifteenth days. Those guys just wanted
- 42:04to be healthy. So Herriman's will be like, yeah, go ahead,
- 42:06go for it. You know you got it. I know
- 42:08I'm on the team. Go ahead do you want, I'm
- 42:09just gonna give you. So it's not the same, it's
- 42:12a little quieter. But I think when you have so
- 42:14many young defensive alignment and young offensive linement as the
- 42:18Eagles have competing for jobs, it should be pretty fun.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Yeah. One thing I'll add is that guys could actually
- 42:25once you're in pads. There's one thing I do like
- 42:27about being in paths is let's say you've been like
- 42:29average so far for the first four days. Because it's
- 42:33in pads, guys usually ratchet up a little bit. Sometimes
- 42:35some reformance takes a step that you didn't expect. Go, wow,
- 42:39this dude really stood out today. We'll see if this
- 42:41means something. So we'll be looking for that on Tuesday, all.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Right, And you know on Inside the Birds we'll have
- 42:46it all covered between myself, Adam Kaplan of course he's
- 42:50there every single day, Andrew to check. Oh, that's gonna
- 42:53do it for this episode of Inside the Birds, the
- 42:55leading podcast in Eagles Intel, and as always, we thank
- 42:59you for flying with us Inside Dubbirds.
- 43:09Speaker 4: Mm hmmm.
