- TCM5: Shit's fucking mind boggling to me. Anyway, I'm I'll cut this out of the show before we air it. But it's all fun. Leave it at it. That's what she said. yeah, anyway. So go ahead, you're gonna have to run the show today 'cause I'm driving. So All right. Damn. Enjoy. I think Good luck. You you already forgot what show we're doing today? No, no, no, no. We're doing Wally E. No, we're not doing Wally. No no, we're doing Texas we're doing the two Texas chain on Massacres. All right. All right. God damn, he fought he fucked up. He fucked up. No, no, no. No, because it it said it said TCM five and six, but I confused because I saw Wally was like a little bit further down. I thought we were doing Wally and then TCM. Nah, nah, just the two. 'Cause we're behind. You know, I went to public school. I didn't have the right math to to add it up correctly. Quick review on Wally. It was a very dystopian film about humans. And the robot was sentient and was cute and adorable. Yeah, no, it's it's it's it's weird because on on the calendar it says WALLE. But then on Rivers on the ep the website it says T C five and six. I think You might have flipped it before. You might have flipped it before. But, anyways, we're getting into the I think the pinnacle of Texas Chainsaw Massacre series. This is the remake that was produced by the production company Platinum Dunes, was run by Michael Bay. If you know him, he's known for blowing up shit in his movies just for no goddamn reason. I don't know. It it didn't really feel like a Michael Bay movie, though. This was a platinum a little bit. Yeah, Platinum Platinum Dunes is known for at that time when Texas Change, so I believe Texas was the the first one, but they were known for really starting to remake these horror franchises because they also did the remake for Friday the thirteenth and then they also did the remake for Nine Mirror on Elm Street. So this was also around that boom when they started doing 'cause I believe not by Platinum Dunes, but the hitcher also was remade. So yeah, this is around that time when they kinda started to to darkify the horror films. And this is a such a different feel and vibe from what the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre that came out in the nineteen seventies. So this is an a I know you labeled it number five, but it's just this one is just called Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Two thousand three. Yeah. Type shit. two thousand three, directed by Marcus Dennis Bole. They didn't keep the rights, right? Who? Platinum Dunes, right? So they they made the two and that was it. And then they made the one Jason and the one Freddie? So I was ex I I was looking into it a little earlier this week about what happened with them and they kind of started to veer off of remakes and they started making more original horror films. I think they I mean, they've still been making movies, but I think the other guys that were part of this production company, they spin off and they started to do some other things. like after okay, so they also did the Amityville horror remake correction. They did have the rights to the hitcher remake, which I did see in the movie theater. And then they're known for doing The Purge, Ouija, A Quiet Place. Which hold on. Which which purge did they do? All of All in the same all produced by Platinum Dunes. And then randomly they did a Ninja Turtles. I think I've seen that Ninja Turtles, right? That was the Ninja Turtles, right? That was the the one with Megan Fox, I think. She played April O'Neal. She played April O'Neal. Yeah. Yeah, that was terrible. So this one, the first one that came out, was produced by Platinum Dunes, but the distributor was New Line Cinema, Rotten Tomatoes of thirty seven percent. this one was also starring Jessica Beale, Jonathan Tucker, Eric Learsman, Michael Vogel, R. E. Emery, rest in peace, and some other people. Your maggot. I don't know if you've ever seen Full Met This you seen Full Metal Jacket? I haven't yet, but he's from that. I know that. I know him from that. Okay. So I know this is Justin's favorite Texas Chansaw Massacre. This is cause I mean, I had a bias 'cause this was the first one I saw. And I remember, dude, I was like a a kid. And I was just like playing around the house like with my cousin. And it's just it's like nine thirty at night. I remember this. It was like nine thirty at night. I'm like running around. And I see them kinda like, you know, and I'm like, Why can they watch it? So towards the end where they saw like the the found footage I was just like stuck on the TV. I was just like, What the fuck is this, bro? So then they told me and I saw the cover, I was like, Who the fuck is this? I was like, Who is this, bro? Then I saw it and I was like I was like, fuck. And then when I saw the older ones, I was like, it's not the same. You know? Like I get there's more there's more of a you know, a classic. you know, tone to the older ones or especially the first one, but this remake to me, it was like A leather face I would actually be like really scared around. You know, compared to the older ones. Steak and potatoes, baby. I was like, yo, what the fuck? And he w when he wore the guy's face. When I was a kid, I was like, I was like, that's your boyfriend, dude. It's like damn you cook. I was like, damn, I'm about to die. There was something random I was thinking of too when I was watching these these films. And I've been wa I've been thinking about that pretty recently. And I'm just thinking, you know, behind those masks, it's like, do you think Leatherface has halatosis? no, I mean I mean he doesn't look like the type to you know floss with a water pick and use colgay freshman, so I would assume. I just was wondering, like, does this does this breath smell like ten pounds of whoop booty? I don't know, bro. I wonder what like the day to day conversations are. Like on a Tuesday morning at like ten thirty AM. I can't think of anybody how they're making breakfast. In that family that has smells good. Nah, the No, no, no. Grandpa well, Grandpa wasn't even in this one, but they all smell like I don't remember seeing Grandpa. Grandpa was remember he was in the house and that was when Jessica Buell's character went in to go like use the phone. And yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. With the the one legged or zero legged guy in a wheelchair? Yeah. He would he would technically be the the grandpa. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's right, that's right. That's right. So w I now I have to figure out like 'cause you didn't like this one, Pat. I d it's see, it's not that I didn't shit. Hold on. It I don't I I apologize for the rain. You hear I don't know if you hear more rain than my voice, but it's fucking pouring. but yeah, I didn't think it's rain. You don't hear the ring? 'Cause the the the phone's like up on the dash, like right by there, and it's just fucking slamming. But I didn't not like it, but I also You know what it was too? I think I I was expecting I don't know what I was expecting. I think I was expect expecting something a little more Yeah, I think both not both of you I think hyped it up a little too much for me. I was expecting something like super wow. And you was the best film ever made. It was okay, you know. I it was more standard horror than the first one. yeah. I just I I didn't like them leaning into like the green tones so much. Green tones so much. Because it kind of it kind of like it it kinda took away from everything that was there. Like it had some really great production design. I I thought they you know, all the little random dead shit floating around. Dead shit floating around. even when they were driving through Texas, like it it just the color grade just didn't really do Texas any justice. yeah. And I I feel I didn't I didn't mind the friend group. I like the friend group I liked. It was one of the better friend groups from the films. but I am I do like Jonathan Tucker. he he definitely doesn't work enough. But I I do like Jonathan Tucker. And I I thought Jessica Beale was like a good like physical like final girl. Like she had physicality to her. She had physicality to her. Which I liked, which are not a lot of like horror movie women what they call they call them final girls, right? A lot of like horror movie final girls don't have like a fit a solid physical build to And she did, which I liked. But I just didn't like the way she portrayed the character. and a lot of it was just a lot of it was just like I like the guy who played Leatherface. I don't know if you know he's in like the I don't know if you ever saw the movie The Program. College football movie? You like college football. You didn't see the program? Nah. The last movie I saw was that Disney Plus one with Clemson. Nah, you gotta watch the program. It's with James Conn. James Conn. the guy who plays Leatherface is like he plays like a D lineman and he's juiced out of his ass. He's fucking like slamming car windows with his head. Yeah, this came up before I was born. And he was also in any given space. It was in any given Sunday. I don't know if you ever saw any given Sunday. One of my favorite Yeah, one of my favorite specialists. I remember I remember I remember seeing this and my father had just watched this. So you remember the program. You should have started with Halle Berry. You remember the lineman from Any Given Sunday with the Alligator? Yeah, and then he tried to take down the older woman. Yeah, that's that's leather guy who played Leatherface. He said no he said age is not a number. But yeah, I I mean I liked a lot of aspects of it. I just didn't think it was like they didn't put it together well because Like Jessica Beale, like she's whooping ass for like like fifteen minutes towards the end and then she gets in the car and becomes like straight canatonic. She doesn't speak, she's in shock, like she doesn't do nothing. And then something happens and she's up back at it again, like instantly. So I feel like weak as shit, man. You mean see I I just a weak ass series, I say. No, but Featherface is not him. He's like He's he's like Remember when K D made that speech? He's like, Yo, I'm fucking tired of being second place, bro. I hate this shit. I feel like that's tired of that. Yeah, he's like, bro, I'm sick and tired of this shit, bro. Like I have a whole chainsaw. Y'all not scared of me, bro? Like what's going on, man? I'm like six six, six seven. I'm fast as fuck. I'm chopping it. I'm chopping it at all, bro. But you could take these two and average those out. Those these are probably better than a lot of the movies on the back end of Jason, Freddie, and Michael. So I think if we're gonna if we're gonna do that, I think this remake is better than the Freddie remake. For sure. Yeah. I did I did not like the Freddy remake whatsoever. But like think about it. Freddie, Jason and Michael Myers are like at the lunch tape laughing at Leatherface with dumbass, bro. Or a whole chainsaw. I don't know what the fuck to do with it. But he's still arguably on that Mount Rushmore. It's interchangeable with him and Ghostface. I can't do it. I can't I can't I can't put Leatherface anywhere near Mount Rushmore. I saw I saw a post and they had him with the top with the, you know, the big three. He said, Ain't no big three without me. Can't do it. F your big three. See, but that's like that's like that's like Leatherface like shrugging his way into it. Like, nah, like I'm I'm here, bro. Yeah, Justin, you the other three are like, nah, bro, like not really. So Justin, you were here last last week when we reviewed the fourth one, but I was telling it, I was telling Pat that when I went to Halloween Horror Nights a couple weeks ago, there was a at least eight kids with Texas chain saw Massacre shirts on, and these kids had been maybe 16 or 17. Like this series is loved. I think that if you're looking at from a technical aspect and if you're looking at it from just a good movie, then you're probably gonna say no. But then horror has not horror has never really been looked at as like the strongest genre where you can make films. It's been a genre where you can you can do something under budget. And you can have actors kinda go over all over the place and use their range and sometimes it's effective, sometimes it's not. But I I can't I mean it's not like any of those movies that we mentioned have ever been nominated for like an Oscar or best actor or anything. I mean the ladies just got best supporting actress for weapons, but you know, that that could be debatable, but It's not a respected genre. If if what's her name from Smile Two didn't get nominated, the girl from Weapons is is a joke. The lady from Weapons. That's bullshit, bro. I don't like it, bro. What's her name for I I forget her name from she played in Smile Two. Aunt Gladys and she was also in Uncle Buck. That's the actr actress from Uncle Buck. Uncle Buck is a great movie. But For the girl from Smile Two not to get nominated and then turn around and give Aunt Gladys a nomination is bullshit. The girl from Smile Two put in one of the best horror performances ever. Amy Madigan. Yeah, she was crazy as she played. They got from smile too. No. So this is this film just opens up. Just on a big Yeah. But I still can't do it because I I don't see how it could you could put Leatherface he's not scared. Like they never made him scary. This was scary. It really wasn't. Like it was more Like you feared Freddie, you feared Jason, like you Leatherface just never really put that fear of God in somebody. Ghostface never put the fear of God in anyone. smacked him that smacked the shit out of him. Ghostface, you know, you I don't think you could put Ghostface on there either because there's so many different ghost faces. So like Ghostface was just a persona. It wasn't a person. Right? So some of them had three ghost faces. You know, the mask you could put on the Mal Rushmore, but the actual character, I don't think you can. Because there's no character. Like it's just people plotting revenge wearing this ghost face. technically in Jason Goes to Hell, he had his whole entire family where his heart's jumping from place to person, so he had a whole crew behind him. Right a squad. Did does anybody really recognize I know if y'all remember that one. Does anybody really recognize Jason goes to hell? There's no Freddie versus Jason without Jason goes to hell because at the end of it, his heart is in the dirt and then the the claw comes out and pulls the heart to hell. And then Jay and then Freddie's laughing at the end. Does anybody recognize Freddie versus Jason anyway? Nobody gives a shit about Freddie. Yeah, then the same way. The same way that you recognize Tech Chainstar Massacre 2, Halloween H two O and what was one other one? Resurrection. Like they're all still we all still we can't ignore that those films did not exist. Nah, I can't I can't. I can't defend Leatherface whatsoever. None of the Texas Change on Masker movies. I can't do Trigger trick, motherfucker. They're not even entertaining. You start to get like you start to get the is you start to get the establishment of this group, you know, they're coming from Mexico, obviously they bought weed and they're gonna sell it. And then they they miss this this girl and they almost hit her. And then the beginning is she blows her brains out and now they're trying to find the cop. And then after that they're just kind of floating around this area, this town, trying to see what they can do with this body. And then Jessica's character goes in the house and then the guy, her boyfriend goes in when he was not supposed to, and then he sees all this weird stuff. And then out out of nowhere, Leatherface just bombs him. Like a cartoon character. And then, you know, he starts to seize up and he's pulling them back. Like that is really good. I think Holt, the cop who played, I think he played really well because he is and when we get into the next one, you can see that he's really the master mind behind this entire family and how it's run. Yeah, like I think it was a good jumping off point. Like it was a good it I don't think it was a good movie, but it was a good start to like reignite the franchise. And I think it moved up with the next one, but then they stopped it. So I mean i i it's kind of like I don't know, it feels kinda pointless in the grand scheme of Texas Chainsaw Massacre because they didn't continue. Like they gave you this, they gave you how it became That and then it stopped. And then the next movie let was it Leatherface or was it 3D? It was Texas Chainsaw 3D. Had nothing to do with this one. It was a completely different sheriff. It was a completely different this, that, it was a whole different and I I just don't like that there was no continuity in any of these movies. Except for these two have two remakes. These two have Yeah, except for the two remakes. I think at that point though, Platinum I think at this point Platinum. Sorry, Road Rage, sorry. I I think at this point Platinum they they did these two. They had the same pretty much the same cast, which they've never done in any of these films. And then they started to make different remakes because after this I believe it was the Friday thirteenth, it was Nightman Elm Street, it was Hitcher, and they started like rattling these other horror films off. And then obviously we see with the purr series, which also was kind of a distribution that they did with Platinum Dunes not Platinum Dunes, but Blumhouse. So I think at that point it was already kinda passed. Which also kinda feels kinda weird for them to do this and then the beginning. It would have been kinda weird, I think in my opinion, to go back and do like another sequel or whatever. Mulcock sucker. yeah, I mean I bet. I I don't I don't know. If you're gonna it l they should have at least got a trilogy out of it. I I definitely felt they should have gotten a trilogy at least just because of the way it was set up. So one, I you can say it was good, you can say it wasn't, it was okay, you know, but it wasn't bad. And then I thought The second was it the the beginning or yeah it was the beginning, right? The next one? Yeah. I thought that was great. The way they tied it back together and tied everything together. I liked I didn't really care for the friend group. Like they didn't the friend group wasn't the best, but I liked the way Jordan and Brewster played the character. So they had a nice little lead into something and it became nothing. way they set this story up though, like I like the friend group, the whole coming from Mexico, all that stuff was great. I just didn't I didn't really like the technical aspects of this film. So I didn't really care for the sound. I thought the sound design should have been a little better. I felt the cinematography should have been I you know, I guess that was the time too where horror movies lean like heavy green. You know, throw a fucking green filter on there and whatever it is. but just the the overall technical stuff I didn't really care for. Especially like the the green aesthetic. That the greenest like what was that? House of wax was all green too? It's another bang. You know, I I don't really care for that aesthetic. The ring was like really green. You know, they they try to make it feel grungy with like a a beat up green and it just I don't know. It just never it never really catches me. Green really the sound design I didn't really care for. I I did like the story and I did like the friend group. I I thought those are the two highlights of it. I like the the found footage aspects of it. Like when they were telling the story that way, I like that. Like th there was a lot to like. It's just I don't they didn't really put it together the way I I would have liked them to. what's his name? he was great as the sheriff. Holt. Yeah Yeah, he's got that real douchebaggy just feel to him. So he where he played a sheriff real well. Yeah, he did a really good job. I was like, fuck you, man. I just face I just want leather face to get more. And I know he's not going to because now I watch the whole series. But like they He just needs to hit the git. No, I mean he j they just need to give him something like he's falling in love in number two. In number three he's fucking getting locked in a closet. In number four he's putting on lipstick. You know. I I love the way in number six where they set him up, like how he became Leatherface. I lo I I love that aspect. Like six I really like. Like I would watch six again. Then the new beginning, I would watch that again. But then when they did Leather when they did Leatherface, they made the kid like all fuck I I don't know what the hell they were doing with the kid. And then they made him just like I don't even I can't even explain it. So it's like they never really gave Leatherface the proper like a proper story for him to really strike fear in people. Because yeah, I mean it's just he's just a hammer or whatever, you just point and he goes. Like there's nothing really to that. Like I I would want something especially if you're gonna do nine movies like you shouldn't just have one film explain how he became Leatherface. Like even if you don't do it in the first one. Like we understand the first one the first one. You know, but he's dancing in the first one at the end. Like he's dancing with a chainsaw. So he was always never he was never scary to me. Except as often. Yeah. 'Cause we only had one hand at that point, or one arm. But like it's you know, it's He never earned that right to be this where Freddie, Jason, Michael they earn the right to be stupid. Leatherface never really earned that right, in my opinion. Because one was okay. He was still goofy in one. And two, he was an absolute joke. Four, it was like what the fuck? He's just you know. So he he never really got that from me. Sorry, I I don't know, it didn't I liked it. This one I just I I liked the aspects of it. I just didn't like it as a whole. So I it my my sincerest apologies to Brandon and Jay and Justice for not for not loving this one. That was really to to piggyback on you you asking why there wasn't a sequel and I was just doing some really quick research while you were talking and it set and so after the beginning came out in six, the two other executives that had four in platinum dunes, they pretty much went to go start another company. And then they said they were not going to do a third one. let me see, 'cause it's Bradley Fuller. And they're still around. Trying to see what exactly they're part of now. But I think it's the same company that I don't know, I I just don't feel I feel like it was a cop out just to make him like him like I know, we're not allowed to say the R word. So mentally mentally short, I guess. Whatever you wanna say, but like you never really got his story. And like by the time you got it, he was already an adult and then the kid version of it is just fucking stupid. Like you know. So it's I think they did Leatherface Dirty throughout the whole nine nine movies. I never think I don't think he got a proper a proper movie. Other than six, I guess that would be. Is the be the new beginning. They they went to go work under Universal after And then it looks like the next company that that did Text Chancel three D, they had bought the rights from New Line Cinema. So again, the the hands are changing, which is also another reason why we didn't get which why the next one was not in continuity from the previous two that had established a tone, a feel, whether you liked it or not, it's still those two they they were very consistent on par with the first sequel that actually looked like the one that was previously done. Yeah. In comparison to the other four that we had at that at that point. No, the continuity was great between the two. Like I that I love. Like that that's that's why I wanted a third. But the the continuity was great. How they how you see the guy's legs get chopped off in the next one. So like the the the way it is like I like that. Like I I want more of that. Like I think that's how you need to build a series. And they now this is when they started it and then they stopped it immediately. You 'cause I think I think even though these were great for horror fans, I don't think that suc like commercially they were as successful as they thought it would be. Which one maybe more? The beginning or Or the first we may. Let's see. I w I'm gonna go I'm gonna say the probably the first one, right? Made probably made more. Because if the beginning made less and they then that's another reason for them to just ditch the project. So the budget for O three was nine point five million at the box office. just domestically it did eighty million and worldwide it did a hundred and seven. Opening weekend did twenty nine point one million. The beginning or the first one? The first one. Well don't forget Justin Google was like a big star at that point. Yeah. Yeah. And the second one, the beginning, it had a production budget of sixteen million. box office gross earned thirty nine point five million and fifty one point eight worldwide. And it says that it grossed one hundred and seven million dollars globally. I I don't see why you actually the first one made a hundred and seven. This one made fifty fifty one point eight. Jordan Brewster also at that point was pretty well known because she was connected to the Fast and Fury series. So I think that was was where she was most known and recognizable in this film. I think she was the biggest star in this film that But you also gotta think she So the problem is she didn't I mean the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was gonna do numbers Whoever was in the remake. Right? So it didn't really matter. It helped that Jessica Beale was But I think if you switch Jordana Brewster and Jessica Beale, you'll do the same numbers for the first one. Just because it was what, ten years and now you're remaking the story and Dark, I think it probably would've did numbers regardless. then Diesel pops out, fixes the engine, fixes the car, and he's like, Let's go. But I don't think the audience For Fast and Furious is gonna be the same audience as Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I think that's gonna be a completely different audience. There were some elements. I'm just saying, just a random cameo. Yeah, you get and Diesel. You'll get movie fans. It was high energy. This movie was has some some moments where it was like at especially at the end when I'm blanket right here, but the guy who he says is a good actor, he was, you know, his mouth was all mo his Teeth were falling out and he was kind of catatonic and then he tried to save his friend for Blender Face and then he ended up getting boxed up in the end. Yeah. You never seen him in anything? I feel like Jessica Beale set up the dude with the asses up, put homie in the one closet, in the one little closet in the corner of the room. Like where else where else are they gonna hide, bro? Alright, man. Yeah, I I think also set your boy up like that. That's crazy. Like I think also this one, the beg the the first one in O three, it it yeah, you you could say that it was a very typical slasher film. And I think this next one, the beginning, even though it was it was done after, but in the timeline it's previously done before, they set up more themes and elements in that one because you have the war. obviously the main conflict before the Hewits are even introducing the film is Yeah, we're going back to to fight in the Vietnam War and and the and the brothers like, No, I don't want to go. And then that's kind of what sets up the antagonists with the sheriff saying, you don't want to fight for your country and all this and we're gonna torture you. But that's the next one, right? That's not this one. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. No, I was saying I was I was comparing, I was saying that the s the the beginning has a little bit more they have some more themes versus this one. This one just felt a little more baseline with just we're trying to survive getting out alive. So now do you which friend group do you like the best so far? The second one. Everything's It made sense. No, no, I'm saying in general. Like even going all the way back to the beginning. shit. Give me the Netflix. The Netflix one. get the fuck out of here. Give me the Netflix group. If I was in that friend group, I think I would have turned into Leatherface. we let's let's go. Pass it pass it. I'm gonna kill him with you. Let's let's go have an IPA at a at a die bar in the middle of nowhere. My type of my type of Saturday night. Yeah, no. That's your type of Saturday night. That's not my type of Saturday night. Just go to the gas. That's type of Saturday night gets actually a little more. Dude, it's cheaper. I I I never I never understood that, bro. Go go just go to the store and buy it, bro. It's cheaper. But then you miss out on being around people and and getting to learn stories and I don't know, it's a pat's Pat's saying that's hey, you know, these kids don't want go outside and You can be social and you can go to a bar and not drink alcohol because it's being became it's become more p common to have mocktails, to have non alcoholic beers, and you can just congregate and get to That's not what I that's not what I was saying. So you don't support going out to get non alcoholic beers? just get the twelve pack or the six pack. And go just if you're going out sit on s sit on some stairs and you and what if you want to go dance? Then go dance. Yeah. But if you're going out, get drunk, get some sports. We got speakers. You you could you could legitimately start a block party. Not not over here in East Williamsburg. Shot cops will shut that shit down in like five point two seconds. Not if you played the Smiths. They'd be like, Dude I can't rock with this bro. You know what? Leave it on, man. Yeah. Guaranteed. I don't know. So I think or like some Motley crew. I think you'll get the pass. So I I think also going back, this was when I I think the first time I went to Holly Morton ice with like two of my best friends. we this was when New Line Cinema had all these these properties. So this was like really like the fur that was the first year, I believe it was seven or eight. The first year that they had IPs and it was Leatherface, it was Jason, and it was Freddy. So I I remember Freddy's house was kind of done off of Dream Warriors. Like you're going through a part where where it's all pillows and you can hear him clawing through the pillows and they have like the T V scene. And then I believe Jason That's pretty sad. Jason was Camp Crystal Lake, like you were going into the like the bunk beds, and then like they had the the the like the sheets kind of and he's like popping out with like the machete. And I remember they also had Leatherface and you're kind of going through that scene that they re that they had in this one where the guy was running in between the sheets. So we're like going through the sheets, and then you just have the six foot five, two hundred and eighty pound guy with a chainsaw, just like ready to just like wham you. Bro, you you know how I would Man, that Freddy one sounded dope though. It was. It was really good. I went to I went to a haunted house one time and some dude with a chainsaw was like there at the last thing and he like jump scares you. Like I look I look I was like I I'm I was like, my god here, bro. Like I'm so I'm so kind of confused. But if it was Michael Myers or Jason, I don't know, bro. Like I'm so kind of fu confused how this one isn't because to me this is the most intimidating leatherface we've ever gotten up to this point. It was. That's why I liked this one the most. This one like if you were like this leatherface was just like, you know, like how Pat said, he was like a fucking A hammer bro, you just this is point A and point B. which is like there is there is like a there is like a a scary sense in like someone that mindless. Like dude, you can't even think for a second, bro. Like, what did I do? You know, there's just no thought process. It's just like So that was a good representation. You know what I like too? I like that he had he there was no hesitation in him. Yeah, because I was like, fuck, dude. I was like, all right, this this leather face I can back. I can back this leather face all day. I was like, yeah, go, you know, like. But the first the first, you know, the well not the first one was kind of scary, but like from two to four, dude, I was like psyched up. Yeah, because then he He hesitated, like he didn't kill the radio host at first. Then he didn't ju fell in love. One juke and I'm out. But like this was like an intimidating leatherface. I wouldn't say scary. I would say he was intimidating. It's a better word, yeah. But I I I I really like that he really like he didn't hesitate whatsoever in this in in this one. It was just point and shoot. That was it. That was it. but yeah, I mean he's the and also the family does play Emmet the Sheriff, who is his uncle, played sewing the biggest. You know, he's really the the main antagonist in this film. And also the family Which we kinda see in the beginning. Like they're there and they are aware, but they're not fully, fully anticip participating outside of obviously, you know, we kind of find at the end that we're we're assuming that there was a family or some couple or someone who went through Texas and they're no no longer there, so they end up taking the baby. So at you know, at the end when Bill she runs in and she's asking, like, Hey, there's this crazy guy and the guy, you know, the lady's like, yeah, no, drink this water, drink this water and she's like, Why are you Telling me to drink this water and then, you know, she put a roofie in the drink. And she was she was she was about to be chopped up. Yeah. Which that that character, I think. No, I'm getting her mixed up because I I was thinking that she was the one that was in that episode that I know what she did last summer, but that's not her. Nah, it's Jennifer Lovely. No, the one who who's the killer guy, the the brother. I found it funny that he was sewing, dude, like like he that he just sews. I'm like, bro, he's about to drop the hardest clothing brand of all time right now. 'Cause we didn't see his f he we didn't see his face in in this one either. 'Cause he was just you know, he had the mask and then he made a new one. He he he he took it off. I don't remember. Bro had that crazy ass nose. Like I remember him obviously killing Aaron's boyfriend who's played by Jessica and then her face her boyfriend's face is on his and that shit's not even clean. It's not sterilized, it's nothing. You didn't put alcohol, you didn't put anything on that, you just put that shit on. It's just hot. Halatosis. Farm to table, baby. Farm to table, right there. I guess your immune system is a lot stronger if you're just putting raw faces on your face, right? Because you just suck it in. I guess that's the new method, bro. Even in the beginning they go in the See TikTok creators. So I've been putting raw skin on my Even in the beginning they're going into the store to report, Hey, we got a dead body and then looking at the food and it's just all just nasty. You can tell it's not good. It looked like it had been sitting there for a minute, but you know The context also is I don't know, let's let's let's go ahead and jump into to the next bro, that's our reality in twenty forty five, bro. When have TikTok creators talking about how the donated face they use is clearing up their ex their their s their blackheads or white heads. So I I just got a question for Justin. So watching it the second time now so you saw it the first time back in the day, and then watching it again now. How did it compare from the the first time you saw it to now the second time or third time if you've seen it more than once? Obviously it had more of an impact when I was when I was a kid 'cause I was like, who the fuck is this? This guy's kinda nuts, bro. Do you still like it as much? Yes, 'cause I feel like it's one of the best representations of Leatherface throughout the whole series. at least like in my top three representations. But it did lose like some of its like scariness watching it now. but that doesn't that doesn't really deter from how much I still like the film. So the how much I like the film is kind of the same. there are some parts where I've you know, I find it funny. Like just overall, whenever he sews, I just I start laughing. I'm like I'm like, all right, man. Can you make me a hoodie? You know, like you know, cotton, not cotton, not not not skin. Make me a a cotton hoodie, bro. But you know, you can kind of you can kinda let him slide on the sewing, right? Because it it's it fits, right? It's creepy. He so has to sew the face together. So you can kinda let that slide where you can't really let him slide falling in love with a random DJ like See see now where where I feel like there's there's there's a horror character that executes that intelligent weirdness. Very well is the collector. I feel like that sewing it because it was it you can give him flack for that, but it also kind of felt like I was like, What the fu I was like, does he sip wine on his off days? Does he go to wineries whenever he's not in the mood to kill people? Wineries are top notch though, I'm not gonna lie. You know, is he like I would like to s he's like, I would like to squish the grapes with my feet. That are all like I d I don't know. But like with the collector that you you know like the intelligence is there. You know? I was like, you're intelligent enough to fucking sew, dude. I don't know. Shit. So I've always wanted to learn how to sew. It was a little off putting. That's why I just found it fun. But we yeah, like you you can give flack for that for sure. I just found it kind of funny. I was like, yo, need me a hoodie, dude. Size medium. I think I'll give Leather pass for you. I think I'll give him a pass for sewing. I I think you don't want sewing to put people's face on. He's just like sewing. I'm saying in the in the grand scheme of the movie, like it is just another goofy thing that Leatherface is doing, right? But I think I would give him a pass on here just because I think if you're putting faces on, you need to know how to sew. Like if you don't want a ripped face on there, you want it clean on your face, you gotta learn how to sew. And I'm sure they don't have like gorilla glue that he can adhere. If he slashed someone's face and it's like, I need to find a way to be able to merge the nose and the ear together so it's not falling off and I'm chasing people with chainsaw. Like it makes sense. Bro gets clean. Bro gets clay and shit. It's not as clean. It's not as clean. It's not, but it's dirty. Imagine him making YouTube videos on like how to cr make a mask. It's like, all right, you two guys. Going on. It's your boy Leatherface. Today we're gonna be making a replica human mask. To be fair, sewing, like if you get like an actual authentic sewing kit, it's extremely expensive because you have to get all the materials. yeah, like does he play does he play Mozart in the background? You know? When he's sewing. Did he did none of the movies had him listening to any kind of music, right? No. He's just listening to Beethoven. Well they didn't I don't think at that point 'cause this is this looks like it's pay taking place in the seventies. You can't prove me otherwise. This look like a period piece. This looks like a period piece. So they also are in remember, they're in a town that's been essentially shut down, so they don't have access to a lot of materials that you'd be able to get into a more modern up and running area in Texas at that point. No, but I mean you don't you don't think that would be that would have been like a character Like a little bit to help the character, give him some kind of music. It was a Houston in the trap house. I don't think it would have fit with this this type of guy, cause he is not the way they they portrayed him, he's not that. I would say Leatherface is not a bad guy. I mean, he does bad things, but his influence is coming from his family. Clear clearly. Like he's not the he's not That I think that's one of the biggest things that you could probably possibly take away from this film is Leatherface is not the villain in this film. He'd probably be an FIT suit or something like that. Yeah, I don't think he was ever the villain is selling his ass off, man. It was Just being like, look at this. It was the sheriff. The sheriff was the main one. I made
