- 1:14Speaker 9: Go in the regular season of the NBA. The reigning
- 1:23Speaker 9: champion Oklahoma City Thunder have pretty much led the league
- 1:28Speaker 9: from the get go.
- 1:31Speaker 4: But there is.
- 1:31Speaker 8: A seven foot alien in San Antonio who is going
- 1:36Speaker 8: to present a challenge. But is there potentially another challenger
- 1:42Speaker 8: who could even squash the giant a large loaf of
- 1:48Speaker 8: bread in the Mile High City. And then we look
- 1:54Speaker 8: to the east and the once vaunted Miami Heat have basically.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Backed rated from existence.
- 2:01Speaker 8: Is they are on the edge of elimination?
- 2:05Speaker 4: We will find that out and more as we begin
- 2:08Speaker 4: the second hour of Sports Talk on the Zone eleven

- 2:15Speaker 3: You hello, friends, you have way too much fun with

- 2:36Speaker 3: an opportunity for us to come on and really play
- 2:39Speaker 3: radio today and have a lot of fun with this.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Is this is something that that you and I both
- 2:44Speaker 3: enjoy getting getting to do especially on this week like this,
- 2:48Speaker 3: and I love that you called it like this is
- 2:49Speaker 3: the spring sports equinox. There is a fall sports equinox
- 2:53Speaker 3: that is equally exciting. But again, NBA season is getting
- 2:57Speaker 3: ready to wrap up, what you're about to dive into.
- 2:59Speaker 3: The College Basketball Championships just ended. Opening Day was just
- 3:03Speaker 3: the other day. Baseball is just now getting started. So
- 3:06Speaker 3: if you're in Facebook, get going.
- 3:09Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, there's it's a it's a Schmorgesborg of
- 3:14Speaker 4: what you could hope for. I mean, uh, we didn't
- 3:16Speaker 4: even bring up the fact. You know this weekend you've
- 3:19Speaker 4: got A and M and t U in baseball going on,
- 3:24Speaker 4: you got Chili Fest, which I know is outside the
- 3:26Speaker 4: sports calendar, but uh, dodging of Plinton County sport in
- 3:33Speaker 4: and of itself. So I mean lots of stuff going on.
- 3:37Speaker 3: So yeah, again this is and less again and the
- 3:40Speaker 3: the the the fall sports equinox is obviously football. Haveav
- 3:43Speaker 3: you this one unless you and again if you are
- 3:46Speaker 3: a sports fan, this is an amazing week. And again
- 3:48Speaker 3: being able to look at the the beautiful course that
- 3:52Speaker 3: is AUGUSTA National is just wonderful to be able to
- 3:55Speaker 3: watch the TV.
- 3:56Speaker 4: But let's let's let's dive into the association because we
- 4:04Speaker 4: as we as we transition to the playoffs, basically in
- 4:08Speaker 4: about five days, we get a totally different season. We
- 4:13Speaker 4: get a totally different experience when it comes to basketball,
- 4:16Speaker 4: because right now there is just some unwatchable garbage in
- 4:23Speaker 4: relation to the teams that are thinking. In fact, what
- 4:27Speaker 4: Sacramento did the other night, you got to find the
- 4:31Speaker 4: leap out of them for that, because I'm sorry, you
- 4:35Speaker 4: are not putting a competitive or even watchable product on
- 4:40Speaker 4: the floor when you do something like that.
- 4:42Speaker 3: And that's it's it is so bad.
- 4:45Speaker 4: I mean to hijack the conversation, but it isn't. It
- 4:48Speaker 4: kind of stinks that as we draw to the clothes,
- 4:52Speaker 4: what you're having to sit through is just garbage. But
- 4:56Speaker 4: you know, in five days it doesn't matter because that's
- 4:58Speaker 4: when it actually gets good.
- 4:59Speaker 3: And that's the the thing that the NBA and Adam
- 5:03Speaker 3: Silver is going to have to figure out because again
- 5:09Speaker 3: and the players know that the fans are really starting
- 5:13Speaker 3: to pick up on that that with the exception of
- 5:17Speaker 3: a couple of marquee matchups during the regular season, the
- 5:21Speaker 3: regular season doesn't matter, and that's going to be a problem.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Because people are gonna stop putting eyeballs on the television,
- 5:29Speaker 3: which goes back into what you and I were just
- 5:31Speaker 3: talking about the TV dollars that the NBA require, like
- 5:34Speaker 3: looks forward to to pay some of these salaries. And
- 5:37Speaker 3: so that's why I know he's trying to Adam Silver,
- 5:39Speaker 3: it's trying his hardest to figure out. And that's where
- 5:43Speaker 3: and people are now starting to have a fit about
- 5:45Speaker 3: the sixty five game.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Well, and I'm glad you brought that up too, And again,
- 5:48Speaker 4: sixty five game rule. You have to play sixty five games,
- 5:52Speaker 4: and you have to play a certain amount in those
- 5:53Speaker 4: sixty five games to qualify for all the postseason awards,
- 5:56Speaker 4: including All NBA Team and things like that. You're about
- 6:00Speaker 4: to have a situation where last year's All NBA team,
- 6:05Speaker 4: ten of the fifteen I believe, will not even qualify
- 6:08Speaker 4: for this year's All NBA Team because they're not going
- 6:11Speaker 4: to meet the sixty five game minimum. And so when
- 6:14Speaker 4: the history books are written and you look at the
- 6:16Speaker 4: twenty twenty five, twenty twenty six, albeit albeit NBBA teen,
- 6:21Speaker 4: you're gonna be like, who are some of these Jabbronis
- 6:25Speaker 4: And why isn't like why aren't some of the world
- 6:30Speaker 4: champion members on this all NBA's how did they win
- 6:35Speaker 4: a championship if they weren't even all And it's going
- 6:37Speaker 4: to because of the stupid, stupid rule, which by the way,
- 6:39Speaker 4: was collectively bargained.
- 6:41Speaker 3: And here's the problem, and I'm glad you said it
- 6:43Speaker 3: that way. You know what if all of those guys
- 6:45Speaker 3: that are going to be winding about, I don't care,
- 6:48Speaker 3: because play the again. And the only thing that I
- 6:50Speaker 3: will add and they should have put this in there
- 6:52Speaker 3: in that sixty five game rule is the caveat that
- 6:55Speaker 3: if you are medically unable to play, which that would
- 7:00Speaker 3: that would put Caid Cunningham back in there, that would
- 7:02Speaker 3: put that would put Womy if he doesn't play, back
- 7:06Speaker 3: in there, but that would put most of the players
- 7:08Speaker 3: back eligible, including Luca into some of this discussion that
- 7:12Speaker 3: I would be okay with, but a lot of like
- 7:14Speaker 3: the other part of like one of the best abilities
- 7:17Speaker 3: is availability, and they've started they put this rule in
- 7:19Speaker 3: there because guys just weren't playing like they just were not,
- 7:22Speaker 3: whether it was by their own admission or by the
- 7:24Speaker 3: team keep keeping them out. And that goes back into
- 7:27Speaker 3: the unwatchableness of basketball and Adam Silver has to do
- 7:32Speaker 3: something to get the players and the team. And again
- 7:35Speaker 3: go to what is happening with Giannis and to Tacumpo
- 7:39Speaker 3: in Milwaukee. Right now he is screaming to play and
- 7:43Speaker 3: the team isn't going to let him.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Let's I want to dive into that, but there's so
- 7:50Speaker 4: much more I want to dive into. So I want
- 7:51Speaker 4: to talk about the Yo, honest thing. From the standpoint this,
- 7:55Speaker 4: we saw this coming well before December. Yes, the the
- 8:00Speaker 4: feelers and the rumors had already been put out there.
- 8:03Speaker 4: He was he was ready to get out because of
- 8:05Speaker 4: his obvious Milwaukee was not going to be a contender.
- 8:08Speaker 4: This thing dragged out all the way to the trade deadline,
- 8:12Speaker 4: and then all of a sudden, it all went away
- 8:14Speaker 4: with an announcement from the Milwaukee general general manager. Now
- 8:22Speaker 4: he's complaining about he wants to play the team. He's
- 8:26Speaker 4: claiming the team won't let him play. There's reports that
- 8:29Speaker 4: when he does these three on three practices he's not
- 8:33Speaker 4: back up to speed. I mean, whoever, we have both
- 8:37Speaker 4: sides arguing and this thing's about to just turn ugly.
- 8:41Speaker 4: And the bottom line is he he is obviously going
- 8:48Speaker 4: to be a he's a general generational player that if
- 8:51Speaker 4: he gets added to a particular squad, yes we'll make
- 8:54Speaker 4: them competitive. But he's also at a point in his
- 8:57Speaker 4: career where you have to start wondering what is the
- 8:59Speaker 4: durability of the soil? And and I hate to say this,
- 9:05Speaker 4: or I wanted to bring this up last time, there
- 9:08Speaker 4: was a very strange occurrence right there, right after the
- 9:12Speaker 4: trade deadline, where it was announced that Jannis and Antatakupo
- 9:18Speaker 4: was going to be a spokesperson for Kashi. Now, for
- 9:22Speaker 4: those listening who aren't familiar with Kashi is it's one
- 9:25Speaker 4: of these prediction markets. So it's not a gambling site.
- 9:29Speaker 4: It's these it's these unregulated prediction markets where you can
- 9:33Speaker 4: basically bet on just about anything, including will there be
- 9:37Speaker 4: a ceasefire? And some people apparently had some foreknowledge on that.
- 9:42Speaker 4: But going back to this topic, Yannis being announced as
- 9:49Speaker 4: a spokesperson for this site is very interesting because the
- 9:55Speaker 4: prediction market just on what he was going to do
- 9:58Speaker 4: in free agency rated over twenty three million dollars in
- 10:03Speaker 4: revenue for Caushee was the Now, the other part of
- 10:10Speaker 4: this is these deals don't happen overnight. They are typically
- 10:14Speaker 4: negotiated for weeks, if not a couple months in advance,
- 10:17Speaker 4: because you have to you have to go through the agent,
- 10:19Speaker 4: you have to go through the manager, and you have
- 10:21Speaker 4: to do all the financial terms and all these other things,
- 10:23Speaker 4: and so you really have to ask yourself. Did he
- 10:29Speaker 4: He obviously went out of Milwaukee, but was there. I'm
- 10:33Speaker 4: not accusing him necessarily of anything, but basically he was
- 10:36Speaker 4: able to drum up business for this site that he
- 10:40Speaker 4: was going to become a spokesperson for. If I'm Adam
- 10:46Speaker 4: Silver and some of the ownership, you kind of have
- 10:49Speaker 4: to look at these things because this is kind of
- 10:51Speaker 4: the world we're getting into now where athletes can kind
- 10:57Speaker 4: of manipulate I hate to say this manipulate.
- 10:59Speaker 3: For absolutely can and.
- 11:03Speaker 4: It's like I say it there that just kind of
- 11:07Speaker 4: raised some red flags with me. And then this this
- 11:09Speaker 4: whole messy breakup at the end, uh where based you
- 11:13Speaker 4: know it's gonna be it's gonna be tough to for
- 11:17Speaker 4: for him to go to certain spots where he wants
- 11:20Speaker 4: to go because of the available trade capital. That said,
- 11:24Speaker 4: teams like New York or Miami may have that they
- 11:27Speaker 4: can get that they can trade with Milwaukee because Milwaukee
- 11:30Speaker 4: certainly doesn't want to end up on the short end
- 11:33Speaker 4: of this. But I mean, you could see a situation
- 11:35Speaker 4: where he sits out next year if they don't get
- 11:38Speaker 4: a trade done.
- 11:39Speaker 3: He's not gonna be on the team next year, like
- 11:41Speaker 3: the nobody wants to do that. Unfortunately, Doc Rivers is
- 11:44Speaker 3: caught in the middle of it. He's not going to
- 11:45Speaker 3: be their coach next year.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Like it's which is kind of funny that he gets
- 11:48Speaker 4: announced that he's going uh a nominee for the Nate
- 11:51Speaker 4: Smith Hall of Game and he's about to be fired.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Yeah, he's not gonna be there again. But actually on
- 11:56Speaker 3: the court, and I say on the court like yes,
- 11:59Speaker 3: waiting in patiently for the playoffs to get here, because again,
- 12:03Speaker 3: a lot of the games right now, depending on these
- 12:06Speaker 3: late season matchups, are dang near unwatchable depending on the
- 12:09Speaker 3: team on the court. And that's why I still and
- 12:12Speaker 3: we don't have to go back to it too deeply
- 12:13Speaker 3: of I wish there was in addition to the play
- 12:18Speaker 3: in tournament, which will be the team seven, eight, nine,
- 12:20Speaker 3: and ten, there needs to be a draft lottery tournament
- 12:25Speaker 3: that gives these teams some kind of incentive to do
- 12:28Speaker 3: something at the end of the year, because you're right,
- 12:31Speaker 3: whether it's a team like Sacramento that is obviously tanking,
- 12:36Speaker 3: whether it's a team like the Washington Wizards that I mean,
- 12:40Speaker 3: any of those bottom teams right now are just awful.
- 12:44Speaker 4: Yeah, and it is. And which going back to what
- 12:47Speaker 4: you brought up with, Milwaukee doesn't want you, honis to play.
- 12:50Speaker 4: The whole reason they want to lose as much as possible.
- 12:52Speaker 4: This is last year that they control their draft picks.
- 12:55Speaker 4: After this year, it's all dictated by the teams they
- 12:57Speaker 4: have previously drafted with. So that's why we bring this
- 13:00Speaker 4: up now when we talk about watchability and maybe what
- 13:05Speaker 4: we're not watching, I want to talk about Nikolai Jok.
- 13:13Speaker 4: I'm going to say something sacrilegious here, but when you
- 13:16Speaker 4: start looking at the statistics, we kind of have to
- 13:18Speaker 4: have this conversation. Yes, it is well within uh actual
- 13:26Speaker 4: same thought to say the following Nikolai Joki might be
- 13:31Speaker 4: a better basketball player than Michael Jordan. It is he is.
- 13:38Speaker 4: He is doing things nobody has done before. And the
- 13:43Speaker 4: thing is no one sees it because he plays for Denver,
- 13:47Speaker 4: so he's playing all these West Coast games at night. Uh,
- 13:51Speaker 4: I mean, if we're being honest, basketball might be like
- 13:53Speaker 4: the fifth or sixth most important thing in his life.
- 13:55Speaker 4: He I mean, he does not. He cares little about
- 13:58Speaker 4: it at all.
- 13:59Speaker 3: But this.
- 14:01Speaker 4: He is a three time MVP, and he's actually playing better.
- 14:05Speaker 4: He's having a better season this year than he's had
- 14:08Speaker 4: in any of his three MVP seasons. And right now
- 14:10Speaker 4: I think betting odds is he's third or fourth.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Yes, which is unbelievable because I believe last time he
- 14:16Speaker 3: is leading the leads and leading the league in rebounds
- 14:19Speaker 3: and assists. Yes, and as a center.
- 14:22Speaker 4: As a center, let me get a little statistic for you.
- 14:25Speaker 4: In the history of the NBA, never has a player
- 14:29Speaker 4: who led the league in rebounds one season came back
- 14:33Speaker 4: and led the league and assists the following season, and
- 14:36Speaker 4: vice versa. No, but he's doing both.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Right now that no one has done.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Is on a ten game win streak. It is the
- 14:44Speaker 4: longest in denverse history, going back to twenty thirteen. I
- 14:48Speaker 4: believe in this ten game in this ten game win
- 14:54Speaker 4: win streak. For historical context, there have been one point
- 14:59Speaker 4: four mill ten game win streaks for NBA players in
- 15:03Speaker 4: NBA history. None in one point four million scenarios has
- 15:09Speaker 4: a player led in points, rebounds, and assist and he's
- 15:13Speaker 4: doing it.
- 15:14Speaker 3: He is right now at forty two triple doubles on
- 15:19Speaker 3: the season. The only person who have more is Oscar Robertson. Yep,
- 15:24Speaker 3: and so he's ted. He's tied with Russell Westbrook right
- 15:27Speaker 3: now for the most of the season. Oscar Robertson is
- 15:29Speaker 3: the only one that had more in a season. But
- 15:32Speaker 3: this is like the on the list I saw it
- 15:34Speaker 3: this morning of how many times he's done it in
- 15:36Speaker 3: the season. Like it's him and Russell Russell Westbrook that
- 15:39Speaker 3: have like just killed it. But like again third straight
- 15:42Speaker 3: year he's doing this and.
- 15:44Speaker 4: One more points. So when he plays, he's averaging forty
- 15:48Speaker 4: points a game and twenty six rebounds. I believe when
- 15:52Speaker 4: he goes up against Wimby, who you can make an
- 15:55Speaker 4: argument Wimby is one of the most crushing defensive players
- 15:58Speaker 4: in the leak. He's still in the three games they
- 16:02Speaker 4: play this year or six games, I forget what it is.
- 16:05Speaker 3: He's yeah, they're in the same division.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Same division. He's so season average forty and twenty six
- 16:11Speaker 4: against Wimby forty and twenty. Wimby is not having an
- 16:15Speaker 4: effect on his ability whatsoever.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Sorry, I'm still laughing it.
- 16:19Speaker 4: She's thinking it looks like a giant white loaf of bread.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean he is the epitomes.
- 16:24Speaker 4: He's European. I mean, there's there's very little When I
- 16:27Speaker 4: say attractive, I'm I'm I'm not talking about physical attractiveness.
- 16:34Speaker 3: No, you're talking about in terms of what we and
- 16:36Speaker 3: I'm going to say this specific, what we in terms
- 16:39Speaker 3: of Americans in the sports center age, are used to
- 16:43Speaker 3: seeing from a basketball player.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Especially a star basketball player. You think Magic Johnson, you
- 16:49Speaker 4: think Michael Jordan.
- 16:50Speaker 3: You think either either speed or athleticism.
- 16:55Speaker 4: You think you think, you think something that sets you
- 16:57Speaker 4: apart physically, the physical ability to do something that you
- 17:02Speaker 4: don't see everyone else in the league, and especially you
- 17:06Speaker 4: don't see guys on you know, random court in a
- 17:09Speaker 4: park doing and this oath I'm not trying to be mean,
- 17:17Speaker 4: you know, there's no other, I mean, the other way
- 17:19Speaker 4: to describe it. But he he may he may end
- 17:22Speaker 4: up being the greatest basketball player of all time and
- 17:25Speaker 4: kind of like show he Tani, which is just blowing
- 17:27Speaker 4: our mind, and what he's able to do right now.
- 17:29Speaker 4: We may it may take fifteen or twenty years for
- 17:32Speaker 4: us to look back and Reid, were we not paying attention?
- 17:36Speaker 3: And that's the sad part, it is not paying attention
- 17:38Speaker 3: to what he's been able to do. And again now
- 17:40Speaker 3: having the the the Denver Nuggets, and this is where
- 17:44Speaker 3: I'm going to finish this and then go into a
- 17:46Speaker 3: very sad, sad moment for me of how I'm really
- 17:52Speaker 3: empathetic for Lebron James. But he's got the Denver Nuggets
- 17:54Speaker 3: on that ten game win streak and now in the
- 17:57Speaker 3: and the third position, and if they the San Antonio
- 18:01Speaker 3: Spurs and the two three matchup in the second round,
- 18:04Speaker 3: and San Antonio as good as they've been and as
- 18:07Speaker 3: good as Wimby is, are as young as they are,
- 18:09Speaker 3: Like I'm I'm not thinking that these Spurs are going
- 18:14Speaker 3: to win that matchup, Like I'm not like there if
- 18:16Speaker 3: it was the Lakers, I would.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Say, if it's a healthy joker, I don't think they do.
- 18:20Speaker 3: And speaking of that, and they are they have only
- 18:23Speaker 3: dropped down to the fourth spot. Now the Lakers, who
- 18:28Speaker 3: had just powered through to the third spot.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Well, I mean we talked about the last time we
- 18:33Speaker 4: hear just just the magnificent February into March that they
- 18:39Speaker 4: had especially was having but as a team had just
- 18:42Speaker 4: been able to put together and all of that just
- 18:46Speaker 4: came crashing down.
- 18:47Speaker 3: When when Luca goes out with with the hamstring injury,
- 18:50Speaker 3: and I going back to that, like, you never I
- 18:55Speaker 3: would never want to second guests a coaching decision. You
- 19:00Speaker 3: are a player just wanting to play.
- 19:03Speaker 4: But he hurt, that was down thirty in the first half,
- 19:08Speaker 4: and he.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Was already running up lame on that hamstring in the
- 19:12Speaker 3: first half.
- 19:14Speaker 4: I think there there's some warranted criticism. It's because this
- 19:18Speaker 4: is not like, uh, this is not like uh Sandy
- 19:22Speaker 4: al Contro for the Miami Marlins pitching a shutout into
- 19:27Speaker 4: the ninth inning the other the other night and no
- 19:30Speaker 4: ends up getting a runners on first and second and
- 19:33Speaker 4: then the manager comes out pulls them and they end
- 19:36Speaker 4: up losing the game. I mean, as a coach, you
- 19:40Speaker 4: gotta know.
- 19:40Speaker 3: That game was over. And there's again when whether it's
- 19:45Speaker 3: one sixty two or eight what was it, yeah, or
- 19:47Speaker 3: eighty two in the basketball is like there's some game
- 19:49Speaker 3: where you know what, we just ain't got it tonight.
- 19:51Speaker 3: I don't need it because now you don't know like
- 19:54Speaker 3: you year year year you were basically had they had
- 19:58Speaker 3: the third spot like all. But I mean, and and
- 20:02Speaker 3: let's that situation like this happened where you you were
- 20:05Speaker 3: more than likely going to be in the third spot,
- 20:07Speaker 3: have home court advantage through at least one round, more
- 20:10Speaker 3: than and have set yourself up in a good spot
- 20:13Speaker 3: to be able to play this young team in the
- 20:16Speaker 3: San Antonio Spurs, even though they've got that alien on it,
- 20:19Speaker 3: they're very inexperience and if you've you've got some experienced
- 20:23Speaker 3: veterans that that can maybe knock them off their game.
- 20:27Speaker 3: And still that.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Second, especially if Luca can give you, you know, thirty thirty,
- 20:32Speaker 4: if not forty points, Yeah, you know across four or
- 20:35Speaker 4: five games, you're definitely in the mix for that.
- 20:38Speaker 3: But I mean, all of that, all of that is
- 20:40Speaker 3: out the window in the West.
- 20:42Speaker 4: And so now like this, I mean, honestly, this reminds
- 20:45Speaker 4: me of how many years ago was it where Golden
- 20:47Speaker 4: State you had.
- 20:51Speaker 3: When Kevin Durant was on the team and he came
- 20:53Speaker 3: back and then ended up tearing at Achilles.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Uh no, that one after that? Man, why can mind
- 20:59Speaker 4: blanking is folks? This is what stinks about Libradio When
- 21:04Speaker 4: you need a name and you can see a face
- 21:06Speaker 4: and he's dating a female rapper and I just cannot.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Oh, Clay Thompson, thank you.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Yes when Clay goes out and yeah, you know when
- 21:12Speaker 4: they were plagued by injuries, and its basically like, well,
- 21:14Speaker 4: you know, this is a lame dug. I mean you
- 21:17Speaker 4: feel like with the Lakers, I mean there's there's not
- 21:20Speaker 4: enough pieces remaining on that roster that that are going
- 21:23Speaker 4: to be able to be competitive, especially against this West.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Which is funny, and we talked about them the last
- 21:28Speaker 3: time we hear also going back over to the East
- 21:30Speaker 3: and the exact opposite situation being the Boston Celtics and
- 21:34Speaker 3: getting Jason. I was one of those that I was like,
- 21:37Speaker 3: Jason Tatum should not come back this year. I really
- 21:40Speaker 3: didn't think that he should, Like you were rushing him back,
- 21:43Speaker 3: you were going to put all this pressure on him.
- 21:45Speaker 3: The team was already playing so well, Like why mess
- 21:50Speaker 3: up that chemistry? Why do that? And it has I
- 21:54Speaker 3: won't say seamless return, but as close to seamless as
- 21:58Speaker 3: you can get.
- 21:59Speaker 4: I mean it really, I mean, for all the warranted
- 22:03Speaker 4: criticism on how odd he can be as as a
- 22:06Speaker 4: head coach, is you gotta give missoula credit because what
- 22:12Speaker 4: he's been able to do in a year that we
- 22:14Speaker 4: had written Boston completely written them off to be the
- 22:19Speaker 4: number two arguably probably better than Yes when you look
- 22:24Speaker 4: at talent. And oh, by the way, just to circle
- 22:27Speaker 4: back to the Yannis situation, actually have if you put
- 22:31Speaker 4: in the trade machine, Boston actually has pieces that do
- 22:34Speaker 4: not involve Tatum and Brown being dealt that you could
- 22:39Speaker 4: see Yannis in a Celtics jersey next year.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Again, all of that, like nobody going back to the
- 22:44Speaker 3: end of last and and him and Jason Tatum going
- 22:47Speaker 3: out with that nobody thought about like they were and
- 22:50Speaker 3: they were actually shedding talent, Yeah, to kind of figure
- 22:54Speaker 3: out what they're going to do d of al Horford.
- 22:57Speaker 3: You know, they were shedding talent, they were shedding contract.
- 23:00Speaker 3: And here they are in the second play like and
- 23:04Speaker 3: by far like looking like, if not the best team,
- 23:08Speaker 3: the biggest challenger to Detroit in the Eastern Conference. And yeah,
- 23:12Speaker 3: Joe Mozila deserves all the credit in the world for
- 23:15Speaker 3: for not only keeping the team where they were, but again,
- 23:19Speaker 3: if it's not seamless as seamless as possible, getting Jason
- 23:22Speaker 3: Tatum back into.
- 23:23Speaker 4: There and well and especially once Boston starts hitting threes.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Oh, it's it's over. It is absolutely over. And so yeah,
- 23:31Speaker 3: we have three games left in the regular season before
- 23:35Speaker 3: we get to the Amazon Prime play in Tournament and
- 23:38Speaker 3: trying to figure out how and when to watch all
- 23:41Speaker 3: of that. Like, I just they're gonna have every single
- 23:44Speaker 3: game of the play in Tournament and it just get again.
- 23:48Speaker 3: It goes back to having NBA games on Prime anyway.
- 23:52Speaker 3: With the I just it is just so hard for
- 23:54Speaker 3: me to remember. I mean, this will be easier because
- 23:56Speaker 3: if I'm going to watch the play in Tournament, I
- 23:58Speaker 3: know to watch that, but like finding when and where
- 24:01Speaker 3: the games are just so hard. I know, and I
- 24:05Speaker 3: know that these are first world problems and put all, like,
- 24:07Speaker 3: I just want to be able to watch sports.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Well, and you know, from the standpoint of we are
- 24:14Speaker 4: so used to the four major networks and then the mothership, yes,
- 24:19Speaker 4: and you know to go to go to that. With
- 24:22Speaker 4: baseball it kind of expanded to a couple of the
- 24:25Speaker 4: cable channels, you know, the turn the turner, the Turner channel. Well,
- 24:28Speaker 4: and even with the NBA, we knew you had to
- 24:30Speaker 4: go to the turner channels and then uh, you would
- 24:33Speaker 4: also have your traditional broadcast. Uh from that standpoint, but yeah,
- 24:37Speaker 4: I mean in a world where you can pull up
- 24:44Speaker 4: any game on just about any device, yes that is great.
- 24:48Speaker 4: But at the same time, there's a lot to be
- 24:50Speaker 4: said about knowing where to watch, when to watch, all
- 24:55Speaker 4: that kind of stuff. Yeah, I I I can, I
- 24:58Speaker 4: can empathize.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Highway six North is starting to back a little bit.
- 25:04Speaker 3: So if you're listening to us just being prepared, well.
- 25:06Speaker 4: I mean, I will say it's five point thirty. This
- 25:08Speaker 4: is about the normal time this stretch starts slowing down.
- 25:13Speaker 4: The good part is it's not at a standstill, not yet,
- 25:16Speaker 4: not yet, but yeah, never know, it could be coming.
- 25:22Speaker 3: Yeah. Coming back in just a second is Jason and
- 25:25Speaker 3: Jared who have taken over for CHIP today on Masters Thursday.

- 27:12Speaker 11: put on the new roof, did all.

- 30:57Speaker 4: I will say this the funniest, one of the funniest
- 31:00Speaker 4: April Fool's post I saw, said. Michael McDonald admits it's
- 31:09Speaker 4: all been a it's all been a voice. He's been
- 31:11Speaker 4: doing all these years.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Uh Chipauer Sports Talk Sports Rade eleven fifty AM, The
- 31:18Speaker 3: Zone ninety three seven FM, Jason Cornelie's Jared Hicks.
- 31:22Speaker 4: In Real Quick. Yes, happy birthday forty seven years young,
- 31:29Speaker 4: Keisha Knight. Rudy, Rudy is forty seven looking good as ever?
- 31:36Speaker 3: God, how do you keep doing?
- 31:37Speaker 13: Uh?
- 31:37Speaker 3: It is Rudy forty seven years old?
- 31:40Speaker 4: More importantly, how is she only five foot one?
- 31:43Speaker 13: No?
- 31:44Speaker 6: Yes?
- 31:46Speaker 3: Was it the what video?
- 31:47Speaker 13: Was it?
- 31:47Speaker 15: The like?
- 31:48Speaker 3: Was it the chinky video that she was in?
- 31:50Speaker 4: Raven Simone has like a good six inches on her?
- 31:54Speaker 3: Was it the chinky video that she was in?
- 31:56Speaker 4: I think so?
- 31:56Speaker 3: Yeah, Like she didn't look at that well obviously she
- 31:59Speaker 3: was wearing the booth like what Yeah, okay, she's But
- 32:03Speaker 3: how is Rudy Huxtable forty seven years old?
- 32:07Speaker 15: She is?
- 32:07Speaker 3: And I, like I I always assumed, like thinking back
- 32:14Speaker 3: to the Cosby Show and don't even come at me again,
- 32:20Speaker 3: as we talked about.
- 32:21Speaker 4: This artists show from Yeah, Yes, thank you.
- 32:25Speaker 3: That I always thought that I was more Theo's age
- 32:30Speaker 3: as I was watching it than Rudy's age.
- 32:34Speaker 4: And I was and as we as we discussed, you know,
- 32:36Speaker 4: as we discussed because we came on the air the
- 32:39Speaker 4: day he unfortunately passed. Yeah, Malcolm Jamal Warner was fifteen
- 32:44Speaker 4: when when the show started.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Right, which would mean I was nowhere near fifty. Like
- 32:50Speaker 3: holy cow, Like that completely flips my thought process on
- 32:57Speaker 3: on the show. But I guess so like I remember,
- 32:59Speaker 3: like there I I was not in college when THEO
- 33:01Speaker 3: went to college, like holy cat, Like I don't even think,
- 33:05Speaker 3: but yeah, there was. I was not even close to
- 33:06Speaker 3: college when THEO was going to college.
- 33:08Speaker 4: I mean, it's it's so so Keisha's is just a
- 33:11Speaker 4: little not even a full year older than well, no,
- 33:15Speaker 4: she is. She is a full year older than I am.
- 33:17Speaker 4: I'm August eighty, she's obviously April of seventy nine, and
- 33:22Speaker 4: I'm I'm now thinking back to kind of her progression
- 33:25Speaker 4: on the show, and especially when I started watching, and
- 33:28Speaker 4: kind of how the ages corresponded. But like you, I
- 33:33Speaker 4: didn't think of it in those terms. I always equated,
- 33:36Speaker 4: you know, myself to THEO. Yeah, when watching Save by
- 33:39Speaker 4: the Bell, like Zach Right and Slater, despite the fact
- 33:42Speaker 4: they were, you know, a good four or five years
- 33:45Speaker 4: older than me at that point.
- 33:46Speaker 3: It's yeah, it's amazing and obviously THEO is the only
- 33:48Speaker 3: son in there, so you're going to relate more than him.
- 33:52Speaker 3: But I never, like, seriously look at like it doesn't.
- 33:55Speaker 3: It did not click to me like I always assumed.
- 33:58Speaker 6: Like I was.
- 34:00Speaker 4: I mean, you know, and that was that was always
- 34:01Speaker 4: a thing about especially especially in eighties television ages. We're
- 34:08Speaker 4: just all over the place, like you could not tell
- 34:10Speaker 4: who was what age.
- 34:12Speaker 11: You know.
- 34:13Speaker 4: The classic joke, especially when we were in junior high
- 34:18Speaker 4: and going into high school, was on nine two one, oh,
- 34:21Speaker 4: Luke Perry looked like he clearly looked more like a
- 34:24Speaker 4: forty year older than he did a high school student.
- 34:27Speaker 3: Oh one thousand percent the kids at nine o two
- 34:30Speaker 3: and oh did we're not the high one? Okay.
- 34:32Speaker 4: I wanted to send you this joke during the final
- 34:35Speaker 4: four Oh Illinois number fifteen, Davis, the white guy with
- 34:44Speaker 4: the curly long haird of tonytail, I wanted to send
- 34:48Speaker 4: I was like, I need to get a screenshot of
- 34:50Speaker 4: him because this joke's just not going to land. But
- 34:52Speaker 4: he looks like the guy from the eighties movie Uh
- 34:57Speaker 4: that is clearly it's a movie set in college, but
- 35:00Speaker 4: he is clearly forty two years old trying to pass
- 35:03Speaker 4: off as a twenty one year old frat bro I
- 35:06Speaker 4: mean it like clearly did not look.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Oh yeah, the ages of some of the people on
- 35:13Speaker 3: the show. It's like either like obviously nine O two
- 35:16Speaker 3: one zero or show And I didn't my shows like
- 35:19Speaker 3: One Tree, Hill and All because I would watch that
- 35:22Speaker 3: because they were supposed to be high school basketball players.
- 35:25Speaker 3: And I'm like, this is the worst example of basketball
- 35:27Speaker 3: on television.
- 35:28Speaker 4: I think I have seen I think white shadows. Oh well,
- 35:33Speaker 4: and I checked that again my algorithm. I know we're
- 35:36Speaker 4: getting off topic. Mark Curry has just been all over
- 35:39Speaker 4: my algorithm late. I guess there's been like a hanging
- 35:42Speaker 4: with mister Cooper reunion going on, so him and Holly
- 35:46Speaker 4: p and god, he's he still looks great. Reginald vel
- 35:50Speaker 4: Johnson who was in the picture with him, you could
- 35:53Speaker 4: tell me Reginald is only fifty five years old, and
- 35:55Speaker 4: I believe you right, he does not look like he's age.
- 35:58Speaker 3: But anyway, sorry, no, And that's one of the things
- 36:03Speaker 3: that anyone, any of our did. We're at how many
- 36:06Speaker 3: listeners now, we're in the set seventies, I say, in
- 36:08Speaker 3: the seventies. If any of our listens are like if
- 36:11Speaker 3: it is nineties music or eighties nineties television. We will
- 36:18Speaker 3: get off on tangents that that you would not believe,
- 36:22Speaker 3: because that is just that's that's our real wheelhouse.
- 36:26Speaker 4: I was at the gym this morning. This song came
- 36:28Speaker 4: on and I told the coach, hey, can we we
- 36:31Speaker 4: skip it because it's way too slow? And she was
- 36:34Speaker 4: asking me what song is this? And I was like,
- 36:36Speaker 4: it's Duran Duran Ordinary World from nineteen ninety two. And
- 36:39Speaker 4: this college girl was like, how do you know that?
- 36:42Speaker 3: Because it's music and we actually listen to it and
- 36:44Speaker 3: pay attention to it.
- 36:45Speaker 4: And I'm an encyclopedia of worthless lunge. What's an encyclopedia?
- 36:48Speaker 3: H oh wow, yeah, do you know what an encyclopedia is?
- 36:51Speaker 13: Just?
- 36:52Speaker 3: Okay, not your thank you now? Well you because you
- 36:55Speaker 3: were joking about like you didn't know how much that
- 36:58Speaker 3: much about Janet Jackson until you started working the show
- 37:01Speaker 3: with us, right, yeah, And he started looking up JANEA.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Jack because that is and and when we like her,
- 37:06Speaker 3: now don't we there we.
- 37:07Speaker 15: Go okay, all right now that we have like four minutes, yeah,
- 37:12Speaker 15: but no going back to the masters and looking at that,
- 37:16Speaker 15: and so I'm just curious like.
- 37:19Speaker 3: How how like I don't. It's one of those things
- 37:25Speaker 3: to where like for me, I don't. I've one of
- 37:27Speaker 3: my bucket listed. I'm kind of going back to you,
- 37:30Speaker 3: is I want to go and watch a Duke North
- 37:34Speaker 3: Carolina game at Cameron Indoor.
- 37:36Speaker 4: Okay, And by the way I hear, it's kind of
- 37:39Speaker 4: I mean, there's something to be said about being in there.
- 37:42Speaker 4: But I've heard Cameron Indoor is actually kind of a dump.
- 37:44Speaker 3: It's a small arena, it is, it is super small,
- 37:50Speaker 3: like and I've been lucky this year, like with with
- 37:53Speaker 3: traveling for women's basketball to go in some some pretty
- 37:57Speaker 3: nice arenas.
- 37:57Speaker 4: And you've been to alan Field Health, yes right, I
- 38:01Speaker 4: mean so and so have I. And it's old, yes,
- 38:05Speaker 4: but you you feel the history of it and I
- 38:07Speaker 4: and I'm you know, Cameron Indoor would kind of fit
- 38:09Speaker 4: in that.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I saying, Like, yeah, I want to.
- 38:11Speaker 3: I want because I was always a Duke fan as
- 38:13Speaker 3: a kid, and yeah, I want to go see Cameron Indoor.
- 38:15Speaker 3: But I'm just like, do you And and That's where
- 38:19Speaker 3: I was going with that, thank you, So I I
- 38:21Speaker 3: still want to do it, but I've heard Cameron Indoor
- 38:24Speaker 3: is a letdown. You have been in the master's lottery
- 38:29Speaker 3: since two thousand and six. Yes, is there any part
- 38:33Speaker 3: of you that is worried about it being?
- 38:36Speaker 4: No, No, because literally everything I have seen, heard and
- 38:41Speaker 4: read tells you it's actually well it will Any expectation
- 38:45Speaker 4: to have TV doesn't do any doesn't do it justice
- 38:49Speaker 4: to to walk, to look, to smell, to to feel.
- 38:54Speaker 4: I mean just everything about it is incomparable and so uh.
- 39:02Speaker 3: To me.
- 39:03Speaker 4: I guess there. You know, there's those things that you
- 39:06Speaker 4: just know will not let you down for as you know,
- 39:14Speaker 4: for when when I say this, For as dirty as
- 39:17Speaker 4: New York is rumored to be, it has long been
- 39:20Speaker 4: rumored to be, and granted prior to the nineties, Yes
- 39:23Speaker 4: there were they were very much true. But to go there,
- 39:27Speaker 4: to to go to Yankee Stadium, to go to the
- 39:30Speaker 4: Mecca Madison Square Garden, to go to to to experience
- 39:35Speaker 4: that it's it you're it's not a let down. From
- 39:41Speaker 4: the standpoint.
- 39:42Speaker 3: I always laugh and people say that New Yorkers are
- 39:45Speaker 3: are mean, and I like to my in my experience
- 39:48Speaker 3: when I was there, it's not like they're. Most of
- 39:50Speaker 3: them were actually very nice.
- 39:52Speaker 4: They're just like it's a it's a fat and that's
- 39:56Speaker 4: the thing, is kind of you have to know.
- 39:58Speaker 3: It's a fast place and you can't ask a long
- 40:00Speaker 3: drawn out question like hey, can you help me find this,
- 40:02Speaker 3: and no point to it and go on about it
- 40:04Speaker 3: the way like they just they are getting to where
- 40:06Speaker 3: they need to go, mostly because none of them drive
- 40:08Speaker 3: and they have to be able to get where they're going. Either.
- 40:11Speaker 4: Disney World, Yeah, I mean I expected it to be
- 40:14Speaker 4: geared towards kids when I went there in two thousand
- 40:16Speaker 4: and six. And I love going there because you get
- 40:21Speaker 4: in that bubble and it just everything about it. You
- 40:26Speaker 4: feel great once you're in that bubble. And then when
- 40:28Speaker 4: you get home and look at the credit card bill,
- 40:30Speaker 4: that the reality slaps you in the face. And that's
- 40:32Speaker 4: gonna be what going to Augusta National is. Because I
- 40:35Speaker 4: hate to tell you this. And if I ever get
- 40:37Speaker 4: to go, and I go get to go to the
- 40:38Speaker 4: gift shop, guess what we're spending four figures?
- 40:42Speaker 3: Oh oh, I would expect nothing less if you were there,
- 40:46Speaker 3: Like that's one of those.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Things gets you a coffee cup.
- 40:49Speaker 3: If I like, there are certain things on a trip
- 40:51Speaker 3: you just do you You have to distance yourself from
- 40:55Speaker 3: the reality of the situation, and so yeah, you just
- 40:59Speaker 3: I am here. I don't know if or when I
- 41:02Speaker 3: will ever be back exactly. I'm just going to I
- 41:04Speaker 3: will I will buy. And the funny thing way, because
- 41:07Speaker 3: you and I have talked about this before too, I
- 41:09Speaker 3: was gonna say, like, yeah, I'll buy the fourteen dollars
- 41:12Speaker 3: pimento cheese sandwich. But the food isn't expensive.
- 41:15Speaker 4: There no dollar fifty cent.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Yes, what I'm saying, like you think, like you think
- 41:18Speaker 3: in a situation, you're gonna go there, because you go
- 41:21Speaker 3: even going down to Minute Made or to uh Toyota
- 41:25Speaker 3: or something, even going to Kyle right now, the food
- 41:30Speaker 3: is so.
- 41:30Speaker 4: Well, That's what I was about to say when you
- 41:32Speaker 4: brought it up, because though you can see the menu
- 41:36Speaker 4: prices at Augusta National right now, and then you compare
- 41:41Speaker 4: that when you have to buy a nine dollars now,
- 41:43Speaker 4: granted it's free refills, but you're maybe gonna get one
- 41:48Speaker 4: if not too if you're lucky during the mat during
- 41:50Speaker 4: a game. The amount of money you have to spend
- 41:54Speaker 4: on food, it is, on top of it you've already
- 41:58Speaker 4: spent to just get in brutal. And that's again I
- 42:03Speaker 4: think that's why that Augustine National and the Masters is
- 42:07Speaker 4: so appealing. It's because kind of like Costco, they've kept
- 42:11Speaker 4: the price down. They could raise it. Yeah, they know
- 42:14Speaker 4: they could. Scarcity, I mean perfect market economy. Scarcity allows
- 42:19Speaker 4: them to price whatever they want because you can't buy
- 42:22Speaker 4: this stuff anywhere else. But they're not. They're there. They
- 42:27Speaker 4: they are trying to provide you with an enjoyable experience.
- 42:30Speaker 3: They know that that's what you were there for. They
- 42:32Speaker 3: they're getting their money. Oh god, yeah, they understand that
- 42:35Speaker 3: they're getting their money coming back. I guess you talked
- 42:41Speaker 3: about the pit and I know we've looked at a
- 42:44Speaker 3: couple of I kind of.
- 42:46Speaker 4: Want to touch on this doj in the NFL story
- 42:48Speaker 4: because as we talk about television stringing and everything like that.
- 42:51Speaker 4: So let's let's talk talk about that when we come back.

- 46:26Speaker 4: So this came out my freshman year in high school.
- 46:29Speaker 4: So you're a senior and I'm trying to come with
- 46:34Speaker 4: correct It's just one of those like you say you
- 46:37Speaker 4: can put it on. I want you to know, my lady,
- 46:45Speaker 4: honestly speaking, if especially if you kind of edit out
- 46:48Speaker 4: the fade in and the fade album, you could put

- 46:55Speaker 3: It just goes.
- 46:58Speaker 4: You can listen to this on Magic nineties. I was
- 47:06Speaker 4: about to say one O three and I'm like.
- 47:09Speaker 3: We're not going back to you. You did that.
- 47:12Speaker 4: It's I mean, it's it's muscle memory.

- 47:17Speaker 3: by Jason and Jared. Wonderful Thursday afternoon. Highway six traffic,
- 47:21Speaker 3: both directions right now, going right, all right, keep keep
- 47:25Speaker 3: it going if you're if you're listening to us, thank you.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Keep your phones down. Pay attention to all of the
- 47:31Speaker 3: changes here on Highway six, the Big six project, do
- 47:36Speaker 3: you okay? I don't know.
- 47:38Speaker 4: Maybe you share the cinement, maybe you don't. When I'm driving,
- 47:41Speaker 4: I'm looking at what they're doing, and I'm trying to
- 47:44Speaker 4: figure out, Okay, what what exactly is this going to
- 47:49Speaker 4: look like?
- 47:49Speaker 3: I don't and I've seen the designs and what they're
- 47:54Speaker 3: starting to do right now don't match what I think
- 47:57Speaker 3: I saw on the designs.
- 47:59Speaker 4: Because you know, when uh so on the northbound, when
- 48:02Speaker 4: they did the lane shifty, when they were building that
- 48:06Speaker 4: and paving that, I thought to myself, Ay, I don't
- 48:09Speaker 4: know how sturdy that ground looks. But B is like,
- 48:13Speaker 4: that's probably not permanent, which I obviously don't think it is.
- 48:17Speaker 4: But it's like I guess they're doing that's going to
- 48:19Speaker 4: be the new feeder, because I guess they're going to
- 48:21Speaker 4: start working on the feeder and it's like, no, that's
- 48:23Speaker 4: new highway. Because now they're they're doing I guess what's
- 48:26Speaker 4: going to be end up being the Texas Avenue flyover exit,
- 48:32Speaker 4: flyover under under or however it's going to be done.
- 48:36Speaker 4: And like what they're doing, what they're doing up here
- 48:39Speaker 4: at Southwest Parkway, it looks like now they are constructing there,
- 48:45Speaker 4: they're doing what's going to be a retaining wall for
- 48:48Speaker 4: what they've they've cleared away. But I still can't figure
- 48:53Speaker 4: out what. Yeah, me neither, So I got nothing. I'm
- 48:56Speaker 4: just like if I could, I don't. I don't want
- 48:59Speaker 4: to blink. My girls are going to be five years older,
- 49:01Speaker 4: but I almost kind of want to blink and be
- 49:02Speaker 4: like five years from now, just have this all be top.
- 49:05Speaker 3: Yeah, like, yeah, it'll five years.
- 49:08Speaker 4: We'll see My over under is still at eight. All right,
- 49:11Speaker 4: So let's talk. Story came out today the Department of Justice,
- 49:14Speaker 4: which apparently has nothing else more important to do, is
- 49:18Speaker 4: opening an anti trust investigation into the NFL over TV deals.
- 49:22Speaker 4: Now when you read that, you start to think, okay,
- 49:25Speaker 4: there we're talking all television contracts. I'm sure it may
- 49:31Speaker 4: morph into that discovery. But what this is specifically talking
- 49:35Speaker 4: about is the NFL Sunday ticket again, which DirecTV lost
- 49:43Speaker 4: YouTube owned by Google or Alphabet outbid DirecTV for the
- 49:49Speaker 4: carrier rights. Yes, now what is being what is being
- 49:56Speaker 4: alleged by the plaintiffs is that the NFL is price
- 50:00Speaker 4: gouging consumers for this service. Again, again, what I would
- 50:09Speaker 4: argue is, and I'm assuming this is the NFL's argument,
- 50:15Speaker 4: you are paying for the ability to watch every NFL
- 50:21Speaker 4: game on a given Sunday that normal citizens do to
- 50:26Speaker 4: get to watch because of what was passed in nineteen
- 50:31Speaker 4: sixty one, the Sports Broadcasting Act, which allowed which gave
- 50:35Speaker 4: basically all sports entities antitrust protection over their product. Because again,
- 50:44Speaker 4: at the end of the day, this is a privately
- 50:46Speaker 4: owned product. This is a public entity, a public service.
- 50:53Speaker 4: I mean I would say, yeah, I mean, I think
- 50:56Speaker 4: if you were to get the Sunday ticket now on YouTube,
- 50:59Speaker 4: I think it's like four hundred dollars.
- 51:00Speaker 3: I don't even probably don't.
- 51:02Speaker 4: I don't waste time with it.
- 51:03Speaker 3: I don't like that because we have YouTube TV at
- 51:05Speaker 3: the like, and that comes up every get I don't
- 51:09Speaker 3: even look at it.
- 51:09Speaker 4: When when we had Direct TV, we kept getting the
- 51:12Speaker 4: Sunday ticket because you have to do is call and
- 51:14Speaker 4: threat and you're gonna leave Direct TV and they're like, oh,
- 51:17Speaker 4: we can give you the Sunday ticket for free. Kind
- 51:20Speaker 4: of wonder why Direct TV lost the Sunday ticket to
- 51:22Speaker 4: YouTube TV, but that's how we had it for a
- 51:24Speaker 4: number of years, because no, we're not going to pay
- 51:26Speaker 4: that much.
- 51:27Speaker 3: It is ridiculous.
- 51:29Speaker 4: Yeah, are there times where I don't want to watch
- 51:32Speaker 4: I don't want to be blacked out from every other
- 51:35Speaker 4: NFL game because we are in the Houston Texans DMA
- 51:40Speaker 4: and so we have if they're at home, we have
- 51:42Speaker 4: to watch only that game at that window. Yeah, it
- 51:45Speaker 4: kind of stinks, But at the same time, it's not
- 51:48Speaker 4: worth three or four hundred dollars. You know, Uh, Cincinnati
- 51:53Speaker 4: and Cleveland play the Sunday noon game.
- 51:56Speaker 3: I am not enough of a gambler to need to
- 51:58Speaker 3: watch all of those games.
- 51:59Speaker 4: And I guess that's what drives it, probably more than.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Either either straight up gambling.
- 52:07Speaker 4: Or fantasy fantasy football.
- 52:09Speaker 3: Yeah, like one of the two of those again, because
- 52:11Speaker 3: that's when I was a lot more active in fantasy football.
- 52:14Speaker 3: That was the only reason why I was watching other games. Yeah,
- 52:16Speaker 3: it was become like I got to see how my
- 52:18Speaker 3: players are doing, Like I got to know what's going on.
- 52:20Speaker 3: But other than that, Like yeah, but I still never
- 52:22Speaker 3: got the Sunday ticket because I didn't care that much.
- 52:24Speaker 4: No, No, I mean I mean if you're if you're
- 52:28Speaker 4: a an eating or drinking establishment that would benefit from
- 52:31Speaker 4: being able to broadcast multiple Oh yeah, that makes perfect sense.
- 52:34Speaker 4: Average consumer. I mean it's if you're a big enough fan,
- 52:39Speaker 4: then the market economy dictates that you what you have
- 52:44Speaker 4: to do, You have to pay for this.
- 52:46Speaker 3: You got to be a pretty degenerate gambler to like
- 52:49Speaker 3: I mean I say that like or just a I
- 52:52Speaker 3: am just not a big enough NFL fan to want
- 52:56Speaker 3: to shell out that much. The games that they put
- 52:59Speaker 3: on typically are entertaining enough for me to be able
- 53:02Speaker 3: to watch on the network.
- 53:03Speaker 4: So going back to what we talked about last time,
- 53:05Speaker 4: and especially how you can you know, Major League Baseball
- 53:08Speaker 4: has a subscription package where you can watch every every
- 53:11Speaker 4: game on a given night. You know, the NBA, NHL,
- 53:15Speaker 4: they all have it. But again it's something it's something
- 53:21Speaker 4: special that the league is providing and the get their product.
- 53:26Speaker 4: To get their product, there is an intrinsic value to it,
- 53:30Speaker 4: and they have set what that price is, set what
- 53:32Speaker 4: that price is. So I don't, I honestly don't know
- 53:36Speaker 4: what kind of teeth this thing is going to have,
- 53:39Speaker 4: especially when I mean, two years ago, a district court
- 53:47Speaker 4: in LA said the NFL violated anti trust laws in
- 53:53Speaker 4: the distributing of out of market Sunday afternoon games on
- 53:56Speaker 4: a premium subscription service and awarded four point seven billion
- 53:59Speaker 4: dollars in damage, which, of course you knew that was
- 54:01Speaker 4: going to be that was going to be appealed. Yes,
- 54:05Speaker 4: and now because the damages can triple under federal federal
- 54:09Speaker 4: antitrust laws, the NFL could be liable for folks. This
- 54:14Speaker 4: is not a joke. Fourteen billion dollars. I again, I
- 54:21Speaker 4: don't see how this goes anywhere.
- 54:23Speaker 3: No, not at that level. Not, I mean again, and
- 54:29Speaker 3: and then even if it does, it'll get appealed.
- 54:31Speaker 4: I just yeah, it is just un I mean, if
- 54:33Speaker 4: you if you want to make an argument like you
- 54:35Speaker 4: were talking about, where it's difficult to find the game
- 54:41Speaker 4: you want to watch on a given night, I could
- 54:46Speaker 4: I mean, I can see some logic in the fact,
- 54:50Speaker 4: you know, in order to watch football, I've got to
- 54:54Speaker 4: have this, this, and this and this subscription service. Right
- 54:57Speaker 4: But in most cases, and this is where I think
- 55:00Speaker 4: the NFL is gonna win on this. If you're talking
- 55:02Speaker 4: about your local team, anytime your team plays local is
- 55:06Speaker 4: a local there is a local broadcast, even when it's
- 55:08Speaker 4: on one subscription services. So that's why I was like,
- 55:11Speaker 4: I don't see how this is going to go anywhere,
- 55:14Speaker 4: and why the Department of Justice is frankly even wasting
- 55:18Speaker 4: time on it.
- 55:19Speaker 3: Your Thursday afternoon, at least with us is now over.
- 55:23Speaker 3: We appreciate everybody listen. This is a lot of I again,
- 55:25Speaker 3: I'm glad that we got a chance to be here
- 55:27Speaker 3: on the first day of the Masters. This is a
- 55:29Speaker 3: lot of fun. I always want to thank Chip for
- 55:31Speaker 3: allowing us to come in and play radio on this show.
- 55:35Speaker 3: I gotta go do my civic duty.
- 55:37Speaker 4: I say, godspeed with you.
- 55:39Speaker 3: Yes, this will be fun this evening. For the rest
