- 0:44Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 0:48My name is Angel Santana, and I am your host.
- 0:51Today, we have a special edition, because today, our hearts turn north to our neighbors in Canada.
- 1:00Across beautiful forests and communities, devastating wildfires continue to spread.
- 1:07Families have been forced to leave their homes. Firefighters and first responders
- 1:12are working around the clock, risking their lives to protect others.
- 1:17Thick smoke has filled the skies, and many people are living with uncertainty
- 1:23about what tomorrow is going to bring.
- 1:25You know, as believers of Christ, we are reminded that compassion has no borders.
- 1:32When one community hurts, we all have an opportunity to stand together,
- 1:37not only through acts of kindness, but through the power of prayer.
- 1:41In Psalms 46, verse 1, it says, God is our refuge and strength and ever-present help in trouble.
- 1:50Notice that scripture does not say God only shows up after the storm.
- 1:56It says he is present in the middle of it.
- 1:59That means he's present with the family wondering if they'll ever return home.
- 2:05His present, his presence is with
- 2:10the firefighters walking into danger so someone else can walk to safety.
- 2:16He's present with every child who is fighting or frightened by the smoke filled in the sky.
- 2:23Sometimes we ask, where's God when tragedy strikes?
- 2:27The answer isn't always found in understanding why something happened.
- 2:32Sometimes the answer is found in the courage of the people who continue showing up.
- 2:38It's found in neighbors helping neighbors. It's found in volunteers serving complete strangers.
- 2:46And it's found in firefighters refusing to give up.
- 2:49And it's found in people around the world stopping for just a moment to pray.
- 2:55So today, I invite you to do that exactly. Let's pray.
- 2:59Heavenly Father, today we lift up the nation of Canada before you.
- 3:04We pray for every family that has been evacuated from their homes.
- 3:09Comfort those who are afraid. Strengthen those who are exhausted.
- 3:14Protect every firefighter, pilot, medic, volunteer,
- 3:20police officer, first responder Standing between these fires and innocent lives,
- 3:26Give wisdom to leaders making difficult decisions Send favorable weather Bring
- 3:32rain where it is desperately needed Protect the wildfire, the wildlife,
- 3:38the forest, and every community affected by these devastating fires Lord,
- 3:43remind every person facing uncertainty that they are never alone.
- 3:48Surround them with hope. Surround them with peace.
- 3:52Surround them with people who love and who will love, encourage,
- 3:57and support them through this difficult time.
- 4:00Help each of us listen today to remember that prayer is never limited by geography.
- 4:06Even from miles away, we can lift someone up. Even from another country,
- 4:11we can love our neighbors.
- 4:13May we become people who respond with compassion instead of indifference,
- 4:19with faith instead of fear, and with hope instead of despair.
- 4:23In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
- 4:26Thank you for joining me today. Please continue to keep Canada,
- 4:30its people, and everyone serving on the front lines in your prayers.
- 4:34Until next time, never lose hope, never stop believing, and always remember,
- 4:41to have faith, let it begin. Thank you.
