Latest / Kenny Wallace Media / Remembering My Friends Greg Biffle & Craig Wadsworth After Tragic Plane Crash | Kenny Wallace Show
Transcript
- 0:00Today is Thursday, December 18th and it's not a good day.
- 0:07Horrible tragedy today. Greg Biffle, his wife, his two
- 0:12children, my dear friend Craig Wadsworth all killed in a a
- 0:20plane wreck in Statesville, NC. Now I want to address me doing a
- 0:27little tribute and celebrating their lives.
- 0:32What I find that happens during these times is everybody gets on
- 0:37social media because they're in disbelief, their heart broke.
- 0:42And I thought I would do this because I want to give you a
- 0:47look inside my dear friend Craig Wadsworth, who drove our
- 0:53motorhome for six years. So I've decided to do this video
- 0:58because I think we all need to share our stories.
- 1:06And that's why I'm doing this. I think it's the right thing to
- 1:10do. So let's start out with Greg
- 1:13Biffle, my dear friend John Roberts.
- 1:18We would do that speed TV show. And John Roberts would say stick
- 1:24with the Biff. Every week it's like, who's
- 1:28going to win this race? Johnny Roberts and John Roberts
- 1:31would say, I'm going to stick with the Biff.
- 1:36Greg Biffle, champion winning race car driver, husband,
- 1:45father. So much to Biff, so much more to
- 1:50Biff than just driving that race car humanitarian.
- 1:57You know, Biff was really good at his trade.
- 2:01I he was one of the best, like I said, great race car driver,
- 2:06winner and a champion. But as we clearly saw as life
- 2:13progressed, it's like, is there more to Biff?
- 2:17And boy, there was, I did a Kenny conversation with the Biff
- 2:21and this guy had it going on when when the hurricane was at
- 2:27Helena, it went through the North Carolina mountains.
- 2:31It was then what we saw Greg Biffle was all about.
- 2:35It was Greg Biffle, Andy Petrie Cletus, you know, Garrett
- 2:41Mitchell. They all got in their
- 2:42helicopters. And Greg Biffle, what a great
- 2:47pilot, got in that helicopter and became a humanitarian
- 2:52mission. He would save people stuck in
- 2:56the mountains. You should hear these stories
- 2:58about Greg Biffle. He found joy in helping people.
- 3:03Just incredible. Biffle had a machine shop
- 3:09business. It's like, OK, his NASCAR career
- 3:11is over, but his life didn't stop.
- 3:15He had a place in the Bahamas. He had a place out on the West
- 3:18Coast. Great Biffle.
- 3:21My gosh, there was so much to him.
- 3:25My heart, my heart breaks for everybody involved.
- 3:29Once again, I said, I'm doing this because I feel like we
- 3:32should tell stories and and celebrate everybody's life.
- 3:36Now, I didn't know much about Greg Biffle's wife and beautiful
- 3:40children, but Greg Biffle has died this Thursday, December
- 3:4818th in a plane wreck. And now listen, everybody's
- 3:51going to go. What happened?
- 3:52You know, all I know is they took off from the Statesville
- 3:55airport. Cloudy day seemed like something
- 3:59went wrong and they they they did AU turn and they came back
- 4:04and by God, the airport was right there and the plane, you
- 4:12know, fell to the ground and then burst into flames.
- 4:14Now that that's all I know right there.
- 4:17And the reason I even bring that up is because everybody in the
- 4:19real world is what happened. What happened?
- 4:23You can find that, that that flight plan you, you can find
- 4:28that on the Internet and my friends have been sharing it
- 4:30with me. That's what I know.
- 4:34No one switch gears to Craig Wadsworth.
- 4:39Oh my God, I just can't believe this.
- 4:41Craig was like family to us at my daughter's weddings, Drove
- 4:48our motor coach for six years at least.
- 4:52And the only reason that Craig and I went our separate ways was
- 4:56in 2015. I retired, I was done and we
- 5:00gave each other a big hug and Craig found his way working with
- 5:04the great Greg Biffle and Kim and I and our family, we moved
- 5:08back to Saint Louis, but it wasn't two years ago.
- 5:13Craig called me up and said, Herman, I'm headed out to
- 5:15Biffle. So I'm taking a, a, a dune buggy
- 5:18out to Biffle. Man, Biffle, Biffle had so much
- 5:22great workmanship. He had these big dune buggies
- 5:25and, and, and the Biff had the boat down at down at in the
- 5:29Bahamas. But so Craig would stop by here
- 5:34and got a beautiful picture. I'm so glad we took that
- 5:37picture. It shows Kim and myself with
- 5:40Louie or Lucy and I'm sure glad we got that picture.
- 5:44But Craig Wadsworth, let me talk about Craig.
- 5:48Craig is the 1. He is the man that taught me and
- 5:52saved my life and created 2 words.
- 5:55This wonderful phrase, no drama, no drama.
- 6:03I had a couple other motorhome drivers before Craig and I would
- 6:07be in North Carolina and they would be out on the West Coast
- 6:11and they'd have a flat tire in the motorhome and they'd call me
- 6:15and I would say, well, I'm in North Carolina, what can I do?
- 6:20Well, when Craig became my motorhome driver, you never knew
- 6:24anything was wrong. And I believe I was at Richmond
- 6:27and I said, Craig, I said you, you never complained.
- 6:30There's there's never nothing wrong.
- 6:33Craig could do anything. And Craig Wadsworth looked at me
- 6:37and he said, Herman, there's no drama.
- 6:40I got it handled. I looked at him and I just gave
- 6:43Craig a big old hug. I said, Craig, I will never
- 6:46forget that phrase as long as I live.
- 6:50I think I'm going to create a T-shirt and it's going to say no
- 6:54drama. Craig Wadsworth in his memory.
- 6:59The other thing great about Craig is, man, was he a great
- 7:03chef that that guy could cook like nobody.
- 7:06He would spoil my wife Kim. Kim and I would, you know, land
- 7:11at the NASCAR tracks and Craig was always there to pick us up
- 7:15and he'd take us to the motorhome and we'd walk up in
- 7:18there and, and Kim was spoiled. Craig would cut fresh cut
- 7:24flowers and have them in a vase for Kim.
- 7:27Oh Kim loved him just like we all did.
- 7:32Never forget that. No drama, fresh cut flowers at
- 7:39my at my daughter's weddings. Sure going to miss Craig.
- 7:48And he, he was, he was a Jack of all trades.
- 7:51Craig Wodsworth could do everything he really could, and
- 7:55that's why he worked for the BIFF.
- 7:56When I would watch those humanitarian missions on
- 7:59national TV, you'd see the Biff and in the background you'd see
- 8:03Craig. Craig was right there.
- 8:09Sigh. Everybody well, tell your
- 8:10stories. Tell your stories about the
- 8:13Biff. Stick with the Biff.
- 8:17I know John Roberts is hurt in the day because I believe it was
- 8:23Greg Biff. I think he started or somebody
- 8:25started a a pet calendar and everybody had their pictures
- 8:31taken with a pet. And I believe that's why John
- 8:34Roberts and Greg Biffle became such great friends.
- 8:38And I know Johnny's hurt in a day and I know all of you are.
- 8:42My prayers with Greg Biffle and everybody involved.
- 8:49I love you all and Christmas is around the corner.
- 8:53Share your stories right here. And once again, I just thought
- 8:56this was the best thing to do was to celebrate them.
- 9:00Greg Biffle, man, what a legend. Humanitarian of the year for the
- 9:06Biff for what he did for Hurricane Helena and, and
- 9:10rescuing all those people. You know, you find a man's true
- 9:14colors when when people are in need and when people needed
- 9:21help. You know, the three people that
- 9:25I saw going to work was Greg Biffle, Andy Petrie, and the man
- 9:31that became Greg Biffle's new friend, Garrett Mitchell, which
- 9:35is Cletus MacFarlane. So Cletus is a Cletus is a good
- 9:41man and he made a quick statement very quick.
- 9:44He said, listen up everybody, it's true.
- 9:47So if you go to Cletus Macfarlane's YouTube page,
- 9:52Garrett Mitchell, that's his name, Garrett Mitchell, he said,
- 9:56I'm sorry to report, but they were coming to my place.
- 10:01And when I watched national news, Fox TV just a little bit
- 10:04ago, it showed the fight. The flight plan was the BIFF was
- 10:10headed to Sarasota, FL. And that makes sense because
- 10:14Cletus owns, you know, the racetrack right there, Sarasota,
- 10:20which is Bradenton, what they call it the Freedom Factory.
- 10:24Then I don't know how long the BIFF was going to stay, but then
- 10:27they were going to go on to the Bahamas.
- 10:29And I just want to leave you all with this.
- 10:34When I was trying to see if my dear friend Craig Wodsworth was
- 10:39in the wreck, I thought the only thing I know to do is to go to
- 10:42Craig's Snapchat because he was a Snapchat and fool and Craig
- 10:50Wodsworth would document his life.
- 10:53And I got a week behind or so. And so I was I was fast
- 10:57forwarding through and my heart dropped because right there was
- 11:03a quick video of Craig Wadsworth on Greg Biffle's plane taxian.
- 11:11And at that time I knew Craig was on the plane.
- 11:15All right, everybody, I love you all.
- 11:19And as everybody says during tragedy, let the simple stuff go
- 11:26and love your family.
