David Bowie – Life on Mars? | Song Meaning Explained #54
David Bowie's lyrics got rejected. Someone else's version of the same melody became Frank Sinatra's My Way, one of the most famous songs of the 20th century. Bowie stayed angry about it for an entire year, and then built his revenge directly into Life on Mars.
This episode breaks down the real story behind one of Bowie's greatest songs, including the rejected French lyrics nobody remembers, the piano connection to The Beatles, and the hidden John Lennon diss buried inside the chorus.
