- 0:00Speaker 1: Good team. I hope you will self examination you, thinking
- 0:05Speaker 1: about you, reflecting on you, finding a little bit of awareness,
- 0:10Speaker 1: a little bit of accountability, bit of contemplation, not self loathing,
- 0:15Speaker 1: not kind of beating ourselves up, just trying to be
- 0:18Speaker 1: more aware of the me that you in the middle
- 0:22Speaker 1: of all of the non me and you stuff. Self
- 0:25Speaker 1: examination is a worthwhile, if not always comfortable, component of
- 0:29Speaker 1: the personal transformation journey. It's largely about self awareness and
- 0:35Speaker 1: the recognizing of habits, patterns, behaviors and choices which can
- 0:40Speaker 1: fit anywhere on the scale from toxic and destructive to
- 0:45Speaker 1: positive and life enhancing and potentially magical. This process is
- 0:51Speaker 1: not about self loathing or overthinking, as I said, but
- 0:54Speaker 1: rather it is a strategic, rational, and productive exercise, not
- 0:58Speaker 1: an emotional orderstructive one. It's something I practice daily and
- 1:03Speaker 1: have for a long time, and it's a great way
- 1:05Speaker 1: to step out of the moment and to find clarity
- 1:07Speaker 1: and perspective. So I've got what have I got here?
- 1:11Speaker 1: I've got about ten questions self examination, questions that I
- 1:17Speaker 1: use for me, that I've used in coaching with people,
- 1:20Speaker 1: and that I want to share with you today because
- 1:23Speaker 1: I think for some of you not for all of you,
- 1:25Speaker 1: depending on where you're at, what you're up to, but
- 1:27Speaker 1: for some of you these will provide a level of
- 1:30Speaker 1: clarity and awareness and perhaps a potential starting point for
- 1:36Speaker 1: this LITTLEX size. So remember self examination Question one is
- 1:42Speaker 1: what am I currently doing? Which is essentially a form
- 1:45Speaker 1: of self sabotage. Remember, we can't change the thing that
- 1:51Speaker 1: we don't see or acknowledge, And again not about beating
- 1:55Speaker 1: yourself up, just acknowledgment awareness. What's that thing? And so
- 1:59Speaker 1: the thing that you self sabage, it could be I
- 2:02Speaker 1: used to train well, eat well, sorry, train well, lift well,
- 2:06Speaker 1: sleep well. My lifestyle was awesome. But I self sabotage
- 2:10Speaker 1: with food, right, How else did I self sabotage? I
- 2:16Speaker 1: had a lot of potential and creativity that I didn't
- 2:22Speaker 1: use because I was too scared. I didn't want to
- 2:25Speaker 1: be embarrassed. I didn't want to fail. I didn't want
- 2:26Speaker 1: people to think less of me. I didn't want to
- 2:28Speaker 1: be rejected. I wanted to belong. So I'd conform and
- 2:32Speaker 1: and i'd kind of I'd play small. I'd play small.
- 2:36Speaker 1: And it took me a long time to get the
- 2:38Speaker 1: courage and to get the confidence to be able to
- 2:41Speaker 1: just lean into the fear, not overcome the fear. The
- 2:45Speaker 1: fear for me, the fear never goes away, it's the
- 2:47Speaker 1: volume goes down. And some things I'm not fearful of anymore,
- 2:51Speaker 1: but there'll always be some form of fear. So what
- 2:55Speaker 1: am I currently doing? What are you currently doing? Which
- 2:57Speaker 1: is essentially a form of self sabotag? Getting in your
- 3:01Speaker 1: own way? Number two, If ten out of ten is
- 3:05Speaker 1: you using all your potential? What's your current number? Where
- 3:09Speaker 1: are you at? And if you know that you've got
- 3:12Speaker 1: power and potential and possibilities in you that you are
- 3:17Speaker 1: not exploiting, that you are not tapping into, there's a
- 3:20Speaker 1: little rabbit hole you can go down today to think of.
- 3:23Speaker 1: What is that about? What is remember metacognition? Thinking about thinking,
- 3:28Speaker 1: think about think about why do I do that? Why
- 3:31Speaker 1: one do I self sabotage? And two? Why am I
- 3:35Speaker 1: not using my potential? What's the real reason? Not the bullshit?
- 3:39Speaker 1: Oh I'm pretty busy? Fuck all that. That's not true.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Yeah you might be busy, but that's not the reason.
- 3:45Speaker 1: What's the reason. What's the reason? Are you prepared to
- 3:48Speaker 1: fail to fall down, to look silly, to get embarrassed,
- 3:51Speaker 1: to fuck up, to get up, fuck up, get up.
- 3:54Speaker 1: If you're prepared to do all of that, then you're
- 3:57Speaker 1: a big chance of exploiting and using and benefiting from
- 4:00Speaker 1: more of what you have to work with. Number three
- 4:04Speaker 1: is do I invest more of my time and energy
- 4:06Speaker 1: in problems or solutions? How many people do you know?
- 4:10Speaker 1: And you might be one of them, But whenever you
- 4:14Speaker 1: meet that person or talk to that person, there's always
- 4:18Speaker 1: a thousand problems of rarely any solutions, and they're all
- 4:21Speaker 1: They live in the problem, They inhabit the problem, they focus,
- 4:25Speaker 1: they obsess, they self pity about the problem. I'm not
- 4:28Speaker 1: saying there are no problems. Of course there are problems.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I have problems. Everyone has problems. Everyone has challenges and
- 4:35Speaker 1: issues and good days and bad days and catastrophes and
- 4:39Speaker 1: breakthroughs and breakdowns. That's the human experience. We're not pretending
- 4:43Speaker 1: that life's awesome when it isn't. Sometimes it's dog shit
- 4:46Speaker 1: and sometimes it's bloody rainbows and puppies and unicorns and
- 4:52Speaker 1: everything in between. But at the end of the day,
- 4:54Speaker 1: we still need to You and I still need to
- 4:57Speaker 1: navigate the messiness of our own life. So we acknowledge
- 5:01Speaker 1: the problem, We speak it out, we identify it, and
- 5:05Speaker 1: then we immerse ourself in the fixing, in the problem,
- 5:08Speaker 1: solving in the solution. Self examination. Question number four, What
- 5:14Speaker 1: am I currently avoiding, delaying, or denying? This is where
- 5:20Speaker 1: the rubber hits the road. These questions are hard, These
- 5:23Speaker 1: questions are not comfortable, These are not fun. And maybe
- 5:27Speaker 1: you're ready for these questions, and maybe you're not. And
- 5:29Speaker 1: remember again, not so. I say this a lot, but
- 5:32Speaker 1: it's just true. This is not about beating you up.
- 5:34Speaker 1: This is not about you beating yourself up. It is
- 5:36Speaker 1: not about self loathing. It's just about recognizing what are
- 5:40Speaker 1: the habits and behaviors and words and ideas and stories
- 5:43Speaker 1: that I create, that I do, or that I believe,
- 5:48Speaker 1: or that I hold on to or that I repeat,
- 5:52Speaker 1: which are actually holding me back. Number five. We spoke
- 5:56Speaker 1: about fear before. This is a little bit of a repeat,
- 5:58Speaker 1: But that's all right. What fear is currently getting in
- 6:03Speaker 1: my way? What's the fear that you need to address?
- 6:07Speaker 1: What's the main fear that stops you from opening the
- 6:11Speaker 1: door on all that you can do be create? What's
- 6:15Speaker 1: that fear? For me? There have been many fears but
- 6:19Speaker 1: I think for me, because I was simultaneously felt like
- 6:26Speaker 1: an impostor. I had I don't know if I had
- 6:29Speaker 1: a big ego, but I definitely had ego because I
- 6:34Speaker 1: didn't think I was great, So I didn't feel like
- 6:36Speaker 1: I had a big ego. I actually thought I was shit.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I had self doubt, I had an underwhelming opinion of
- 6:46Speaker 1: my own ability, and I think for me for a
- 6:50Speaker 1: long time, my fear is that I just didn't want
- 6:53Speaker 1: to be exposed for the fraud and the idiot that
- 6:58Speaker 1: I thought I was. While I still don't think I'm
- 7:02Speaker 1: a genius and I don't think I'm the fucking high
- 7:04Speaker 1: watermark for high performance or success, I kind of understand
- 7:09Speaker 1: now that a lot of that self talk and a
- 7:11Speaker 1: lot of those stories for me were just fear that
- 7:15Speaker 1: really really got in my way. Number six ties in
- 7:19Speaker 1: with that Number six is what is my most limiting belief?
- 7:24Speaker 1: They kind of tie in number seven. This can be
- 7:27Speaker 1: a confronting question. Am I proud of the way I
- 7:30Speaker 1: live my life? So is the way that I typically
- 7:35Speaker 1: do life, The way that I treat people, the way
- 7:37Speaker 1: that I treat myself, the way that I manage my
- 7:39Speaker 1: body and my health, the things that I say, the
- 7:45Speaker 1: things that I purport to be, or the things that
- 7:48Speaker 1: I purport to value, are my values and beliefs aligned
- 7:54Speaker 1: with how I actually live? Is my day to day
- 7:58Speaker 1: behavior a reflection of who I want to be and
- 8:02Speaker 1: who I say I am and how I want to be?
- 8:06Speaker 1: Because when the way that I live is a reflection
- 8:09Speaker 1: of my values and beliefs and purpose, then I'm living
- 8:12Speaker 1: in alignment number eight. What is my body telling me?
- 8:16Speaker 1: It's a no brainer. We've all got one. You've got one,
- 8:20Speaker 1: I've got one. You can't get a new one. I
- 8:21Speaker 1: can't get a new one. That's your only bloody addition,
- 8:25Speaker 1: your best look after it. It's always talking to you.
- 8:27Speaker 1: It's telling you something. It's smart, it's a genius. It knows,
- 8:32Speaker 1: and it's trying to tell you. And subconsciously, deep down
- 8:36Speaker 1: it's prodding you. And you know, And there are some
- 8:39Speaker 1: of you listening to this, And no, I'm not a prophet,
- 8:42Speaker 1: and I don't have any incredible insight, but I just
- 8:45Speaker 1: know this statistically, there are people listening to this right
- 8:47Speaker 1: now who are putting their metaphoric fingers in their ears.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And some of you, hopefully you won't, but some of
- 8:56Speaker 1: You may very well wait till shit goes horribly wrong
- 9:00Speaker 1: before you pay attention to your body. And the reason
- 9:03Speaker 1: I know that is because it happens all the time.
- 9:05Speaker 1: It happens all the time all around the world. And
- 9:09Speaker 1: I have trained and worked with and coached and counseled
- 9:11Speaker 1: thousands of people who have waited until stuff fell apart,
- 9:17Speaker 1: until the catastrophe. Don't wait for a catastrophe. Don't wait
- 9:21Speaker 1: for stuff to break. Question nine? Question nine is this
- 9:27Speaker 1: what are my results telling me? Your results are your feedback,
- 9:32Speaker 1: your data that kind of gives you insight into what's
- 9:35Speaker 1: working and what's not, what's efficient and what's not. So
- 9:39Speaker 1: just like your body is always telling you something, so
- 9:42Speaker 1: your bank balance balance is telling you something. Your relationships
- 9:45Speaker 1: are telling you something. The way that you work your
- 9:48Speaker 1: results at work, the way that you study your academic results.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Like your life is a source of feedback, your world
- 9:59Speaker 1: is all always telling you something. Pay attention. Last one
- 10:03Speaker 1: for the moment is what's one uncontrollable What's one thing
- 10:09Speaker 1: that isn't in your control that you waste energy on.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I'll say it again, what's one thing that you have
- 10:15Speaker 1: no control over that you consistently waste energy on. That
- 10:18Speaker 1: could be the weather, that could be other people, that
- 10:20Speaker 1: could be that could be dickheads on social media. It
- 10:25Speaker 1: could be a million things. What's that thing that you
- 10:28Speaker 1: need to let go of, stop wasting energy on so
- 10:32Speaker 1: that you can do better, think better, and create better.
- 10:35Speaker 1: There we go self examination. Enjoyed a team Cinemarrah
