- 0:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Again, thank you for being with us uh on on this uh particular episode.
- 0:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh we're gonna talk a little bit about loss.
- 0:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um loss can mean a lot of definitions.
- 1:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um not necessarily talking about the loss of in this particular episode.
- 1:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm not necessarily talking about having a loss where someone passes away, where that is very important to grieve, to never forget, and just be a human being with emotions.
- 1:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What I'd like to talk about today is the loss or losses that we may encounter along the way of our story, of our being, of what we believe are it's not our will to be done, it's thy will be done, in my opinion.
- 2:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so along the way, we find ourselves in a lot of different, a lot of different positions, a lot of different states of mind.
- 2:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I'm very specifically talking about those of us who are doing out-of-the-box work, and with out-of-the-box work, generally, you know, there's these uh seasons of uh highs and lows, you know, depending on the season, right?
- 3:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If we're doing really well, then we're at a we're at a peak.
- 3:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If we're in the middle of the next season, the next the next thing or things, it can feel like we are in that valley.
- 3:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And are we ever going to be able to get out?
- 3:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Well, nothing is given.
- 3:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: At least to me.
- 4:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We have to almost be ready for the loss.
- 4:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So the loss of friends or members of the family, or just like that's just that's crazy, that's never gonna happen.
- 4:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm not here boasting saying that I am iconic, that I'm an icon.
- 4:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm not saying that.
- 4:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What I am saying is in the song it talks about having out-of-the-box ideas, talks about people not always understanding what we're what we're working on, what we're doing, that sometimes, well, for me a lot of times, it's like, oh yeah, that's never gonna happen.
- 5:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That that'll never happen.
- 5:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You're making it up, it's AI, it's it's everything except wow.
- 5:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I really hope this succeeds.
- 5:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Right?
- 5:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean, you're if you're in you're in the same family and friends, you know, you and I, we want we want people to be on our side.
- 6:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah, and that song iconic talks about having you know these dreams of wanting to succeed and wanting to help, or whatever our dreams are in the face of adversity, they can come very close to us.
- 6:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: See, some of us, I'll include myself, we think adversity only comes from you know, that outside world, not friends or family or or that.
- 6:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So when it does come to fruition, when and if it comes to fruition, then it's like, okay, been working on this for a year and a half, two years, been called every name in the book, lazy, you name it, and this is for those of you out there like me, who are kind of looked at like, mmm, that's never gonna happen, you're never gonna do that.
- 7:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Why would they include you in that?
- 7:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Why what have you done?
- 7:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You don't know those people, and so what do we have to do?
- 8:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We have to we have to be strong, strong mentally and physically, but a majority of it's mental, and that's why I think I spend so much time focusing on my mental health because that's where a lot of the battles they actually happen inside our mind of why'd they say that?
- 8:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Why didn't they say this?
- 8:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And why did they do this and not do that, or why'd they do that and not this?
- 8:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and what if, what if, what if, what if?
- 8:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I've been there, done that, and I'm sure there's gonna be times in the future I'm gonna be in that same boat.
- 9:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But I'm trying to just talk through this, these feelings, these feelings of alienation from people that we love as I just I said earlier, what nothing's given, and so when opportunities arise, we can either just walk away and say, oh no, that's just that's never gonna amount to anything, or the opposite, and say to ourselves, you know what, I don't know how this fits in the mold, how this fits in the future, but I'm gonna try it.
- 10:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that and those are the people that I'm talking to and talking about here with myself.
- 10:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, it's it sucks to Again, it sucks to have people we love kind of look at us with that like I don't think so.
- 10:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's not gonna happen.
- 10:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It hurts feelings, hurts my feelings.
- 10:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, somebody in my circle says, Justin, I think I want to do this.
- 11:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Or what have you been working on?
- 11:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I think we shouldn't be so so quick a judgment.
- 11:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So quick a judgment.
- 11:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's that gossip, right?
- 11:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh, he thinks he's gonna do this, and that's never gonna happen, or she's working on, she says she's talking to this person that there's no way that person would ever talk to them.
- 11:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And again, for the most part, a lot of the people that are in the gossip have no clue what it what it's taken, what it will take.
- 12:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And what if he's talking to them?
- 12:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What if there is something coming up?
- 12:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What if there's a tour?
- 12:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: See, those are the things that I'm talking about for what ifs.
- 12:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We can what if anything?
- 12:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Somebody came to me and said, Joseph, I'm working on this, and I'll say, Well, what if this actually happens?
- 12:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That'd be pretty sweet.
- 12:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, we're here to root you on, you know, there's gonna be a times of a dry, dry desert where there's no rain to be seen for days and months and maybe years.
- 13:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And then once that rain starts, and positive things begin manifesting call into the ether, into the into society.
- 13:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Then we get called vindictive and just trying to put somebody down and and and and and you get the drift.
- 14:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean, how are we supposed to act?
- 14:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: How are not even act?
- 14:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: How are we supposed to be when for days, weeks, months, sometimes years, we've been put down while he's making these stupid videos.
- 14:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh really?
- 14:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Okay.
- 14:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's no way this person would ever talk to you.
- 14:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Why would they?
- 14:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Who are you?
- 14:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's like I'm not haven't changed.
- 14:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I found what I'm passionate about.
- 14:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: How would you like it if somebody did that to you and said, Oh yeah, he's out of his mind or she's out of control?
- 15:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Wouldn't feel good, would it?
- 15:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You want somebody in your corner, and you shouldn't have to look into that outside world to finally find somebody for your corner.
- 15:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There will be people outside that are in your corner, in my corner.
- 15:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: However, it I don't know what it is, I don't know why it is, I just I just don't know.
- 15:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And it's it just sucks.
- 16:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Tucks have you know people you love going, oh yeah, he's full of it.
- 16:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: He's lazy.
- 16:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: He just sits on the chair, sits on the couch, makes these stupid videos.
- 16:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Never gonna mount anything.
- 16:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I say okay.
- 16:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's your stance on this what we're doing.
- 16:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Things, experiences, events, blah blah blah.
- 16:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: When if these things, experiences actually play themselves out.
- 17:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Then we get faced with another question.
- 17:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Well, do we include include people?
- 17:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The very people that have been putting us down for years or weeks or months.
- 17:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's really what it comes down to.
- 17:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Things are this is AI, it's never gonna happen.
- 18:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Wasting your time, need to do something else.
- 18:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Cause it's not happening right this very second.
- 18:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: How about if and when it does happen this very second?
- 18:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's called jumping on the bandwagon.
- 18:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I learned a lot about that in sports.
- 18:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Where you know, like the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox or whatever baseball team.
- 18:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Doesn't matter.
- 18:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm just using those because the Dodgers, because they're you know, the some of the larger fan bases.
- 19:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They're gonna make the playoffs, they're gonna make the World Series, they're gonna win the World Series.
- 19:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So that's it's when events are already happening, and then people make a decision.
- 19:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh yeah, I really love the Yankees, I love the Dodgers.
- 19:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Same thing could be said for what I'm going through, what you may be going through.
- 19:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Somebody you know may be going through.
- 19:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh yeah, things are happen okay, yeah.
- 20:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Include me and I include me and I why wouldn't you include certain certain people I don't know That's the trillion dollar question I don't know what to do I don't I don't know there's no manual So these are the types of questions that we're faced with these are the questions These are the thoughts that play out in our mind every day and every night And so instead of maybe enjoying the moment the moment goes so fast that we don't even have a chance to enjoy it because we've been so caught up with our minds and wanting to please everybody.
- 21:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I don't know how things will turn out.
- 21:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't know anybody that does except God, Jesus.
- 21:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm a believer, you don't have to be a believer to be part of the Voices for Voices family, but just know.
- 22:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's at least one person that believes in you.
- 22:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That is you.
- 22:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Again, an idea may go viral the first time or the five hundredth time.
- 22:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Or never at all.
- 22:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I just don't want to be in my later years thinking, man, I wish I would at least tried this.
- 22:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah, people talk about being on our deathbed and some people having regrets.
- 23:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like, oh, I wish I would have traveled more.
- 23:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We didn't have a lot of money.
- 23:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We had enough.
- 23:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But the older I got, the less I wanted to go.
- 23:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I wish I would have had that show.
- 23:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I wish I would have gone to that event.
- 23:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I wish I would have met that person.
- 23:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I wish I would have talked to that person.
- 23:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Just remember, anything worth anything worth it.
- 23:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Positive outcome.
- 23:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It takes work.
- 24:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And it's gonna take a lot of people that are naysayers.
- 24:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Doesn't mean you don't still love the people.
- 24:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But how do how do we listen?
- 24:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Somebody that's never or very briefly tried the entrepreneurial way.
- 24:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's just like why would we take money advice from somebody who's broke?
- 24:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Why would we take entrepreneurial advice from somebody that's never or just had a brief stint of being an entrepreneur?
- 25:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We wouldn't, would we?
- 25:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We would turn to them in other cases when it's their expertise.
- 25:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But just that human instinct of no, that's never gonna happen.
- 25:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Okay.
- 25:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's okay.
- 25:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Everybody's entitled to their own opinion.
- 25:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Remember?
- 25:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I talked about the first amendment so much.
- 25:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's okay.
- 25:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If others, whoever they may be, you know, they start whispering when you come in the room, or they talk behind your back, or they sit outside instead of coming in the house.
- 26:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Heaven forbid they'd have to actually say hi to me.
- 26:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Cause I'm just, you know, such a toxic person.
- 26:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah.
- 26:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Okay.
- 26:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Just remember we all have brains.
- 26:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We can forgive, but we never forget.
- 27:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But I've been willing to talk about talk about them and admit to them.
- 27:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Other people they don't they wouldn't as much as go as far as say that they've ever made a mistake.
- 27:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I'm talking about right here, right now.
- 27:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What's happening, what's going on.
- 27:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What may be going on at a point in the future.
- 28:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And again, there's nobody's promised another day, another hour, another minute, another second.
- 28:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I'd rather look at things optimistically, knowing that, than not.
- 28:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's how I like to look at things.
- 28:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm no expert on mental health.
- 28:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm an expert on my mental health.
- 28:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't know what I've been diagnosed with and medication and that.
- 28:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I can only share my experiences.
- 28:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Getting help is not the end of the road.
- 29:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You have to you have to ask for help every once in a while.
- 29:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Every single one of us.
- 29:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We do.
