Luna: Oh, I love eating out. So, what's the first phrase? Lucas: When you're at a restaurant, you might want to say 'I want food.' In Telugu: నాకు అన్నం కావాలి. Luna: నాకు అన్నం కావాలి. Lucas: Good! నాకు means 'to me' or 'I want,' అన్నం is 'food' or 'rice,' కావాలి means 'want.' So, నాకు అన్నం కావాలి. Luna: నాకు అన్నం కావాలి. What if I want water? Lucas: Then you say నాకు నీళ్ళు కావాలి. But a more polite way to ask is 'Give me water' — నీళ్ళు ఇవ్వండి. Luna: నీళ్ళు ఇవ్వండి. That's water and give. Lucas: Exactly. Imagine you're at a restaurant and you want to order. You say: నాకు అన్నం కావాలి. నీళ్ళు ఇవ్వండి. Luna: నాకు అన్నం కావాలి. నీళ్ళు ఇవ్వండి. That's two phrases already. Lucas: After you eat, you'll want the bill. In Telugu: బిల్లు ఇవ్వండి. Luna: బిల్లు ఇవ్వండి. So 'bill' is బిల్లు, and ఇవ్వండి is 'give.' Easy. Lucas: Right. And if the food is tasty, you can say ఇది రుచిగా ఉంది — 'this is tasty.' Luna: ఇది రుచిగా ఉంది. రుచిగా means tasty? Lucas: Yes, 'tastily' or 'tasty.' So you can compliment the chef. Luna: I want to practice. So, I walk into a restaurant and I say: నాకు అన్నం కావాలి. Lucas: Perfect. Then you say: నీళ్ళు ఇవ్వండి. Luna: నీళ్ళు ఇవ్వండి. Then after eating: బిల్లు ఇవ్వండి. Lucas: And if you liked it: ఇది రుచిగా ఉంది. Luna: ఇది రుచిగా ఉంది. That's a full meal conversation! Lucas: Let's run through them again. Repeat after me: నాకు అన్నం కావాలి. Luna: నాకు అన్నం కావాలి. Lucas: నీళ్ళు ఇవ్వండి. Luna: నీళ్ళు ఇవ్వండి. Lucas: బిల్లు ఇవ్వండి. Luna: బిల్లు ఇవ్వండి. Lucas: ఇది రుచిగా ఉంది. Luna: ఇది రుచిగా ఉంది. Lucas: Great! Now, remember in Episode 38 we learned how to ask prices? That could come in handy here too. Luna: Oh yeah, ఇది ఎంత? But today we didn't practice that. Lucas: Right, we'll stick to ordering. So, imagine we're at a restaurant. You say: నాకు అన్నం కావాలి. Luna: నాకు అన్నం కావాలి. Lucas: The waiter brings water. You say: ధన్యవాదాలు. Luna: That's from episode 8? Yes, 'thank you'. Lucas: Exactly. After eating: బిల్లు ఇవ్వండి. Luna: బిల్లు ఇవ్వండి. Lucas: And if it was good: ఇది రుచిగా ఉంది. Luna: ఇది రుచిగా ఉంది. I feel ready to order in Telugu now! Lucas: That's the goal.
