- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation. Welcome to Just the Cats. My
- 0:15Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett on this Tuesday, September 22nd. Man,
- 0:20Speaker 2: it's chilly outside, but I hope everybody's having a great
- 0:22Speaker 2: day because I'm doing the best I can as well.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Cloudy day, a little chilly, but it's okay. Everything's going
- 0:30Speaker 2: to be fine, Michael Bennett. That's what I keep telling myself.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Justin Kalen's with me this morning. Justin, are you afraid
- 0:37Speaker 2: I'm going to say anything else?
- 0:39Speaker 1: No, I'm just concerned that you think it's chilly outside. Really? No,
- 0:43Speaker 1: it's chilly to me. I mean, you're chilly versus everybody
- 0:47Speaker 1: else's chilly. significantly different. Oh, absolutely. I walked out of
- 0:51Speaker 1: my house this morning and I was like, this is incredible. Oh,
- 0:54Speaker 1: did you really? Oh yeah. Good for you. Okay.
- 0:56Speaker 2: See, I like that. I like that you did. It's
- 0:59Speaker 2: 61 degrees outside right now. That's chilly to me.
- 1:02Speaker 1: That's perfect to me.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Is it really? No, I don't like it. I like
- 1:06Speaker 2: it when it's 95 degrees. And I like keeping it
- 1:10Speaker 2: that way. I mean, I went to– there was a
- 1:13Speaker 2: little backside event at Churchill Downs this past Sunday. I
- 1:17Speaker 2: went to it, and I was sweating like a pig
- 1:19Speaker 2: and loved every second of it. In fact, one of
- 1:22Speaker 2: my buddies out there brought– what are they called? Old-fashioned
- 1:27Speaker 2: jello shots to the picnic.
- 1:29Speaker 1: That sounds incredible.
- 1:30Speaker 2: And unfortunately, within two hours, they were melted. They were
- 1:33Speaker 2: no longer– they were liquid shots. And I'm telling you,
- 1:37Speaker 2: they were fantastic. They would have never gotten melted if
- 1:41Speaker 2: I was there because I had them all.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Because you had them all. Exactly. Absolutely. I know it.
- 1:45Speaker 2: And my buddy Chris was like, Michael, have another one. Michael,
- 1:47Speaker 2: have another one. It's like, Chris, I've got to drive home.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Now, is there anything that you do where you like
- 1:53Speaker 1: it a little on the cooler side? Like if you're golfing,
- 1:55Speaker 1: you'd rather have 95 than 75? Sure would. Really?
- 1:59Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely. Probably the only thing is skiing. I mean,
- 2:05Speaker 2: that's the only thing because I want the snow to
- 2:08Speaker 2: be frozen. I don't want it to melt. That would
- 2:12Speaker 2: be the only thing. There is nothing out there I
- 2:15Speaker 2: like doing in the cool air. What about like a bonfire?
- 2:18Speaker 2: You'd rather have a bonfire in 90 degree weather than
- 2:21Speaker 2: fall weather?
- 2:21Speaker 1: I don't have a bonfire. I don't care about bonfires.
- 2:24Speaker 1: It's just not.
- 2:25Speaker 2: You asked me what would I like to do in
- 2:28Speaker 2: cool weather. I answered your question, and clearly it wasn't enough.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I don't care about bonfires.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I'm having a bonfire. Don't invite Michael Bennett.
- 2:34Speaker 3: No.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Well, if you've got marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers, I
- 2:39Speaker 2: might be there. Listen, you take me back to my childhood.
- 2:44Speaker 2: You give me certain food, and it takes me right back.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And s'mores is one of them.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Have you ever done s'mores with fudge stripes? With what?
- 2:53Speaker 1: Fudge stripes, you know, the fudge stripe cookies, little Keebler cookies. Oh, no,
- 2:57Speaker 1: I've never done that. I haven't either.
- 2:59Speaker 2: I don't even know what fudge stripe is. Oh, if
- 3:00Speaker 2: you looked it up, you would be like, oh, fudge stripes. Okay,
- 3:04Speaker 2: I've never had Keebler. I'm a Chip the Hoy kind
- 3:05Speaker 2: of guy, or Oreo. Those are my go-to cookies right
- 3:09Speaker 2: there when I was still eating a lot of cookies.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I've heard for years that fudge stripe s'mores are the
- 3:14Speaker 1: way to go, but I've never tried it.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Oh, I think I know what you're talking about. Yeah,
- 3:18Speaker 2: they have lines of chocolate on top of it.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Okay, yeah. Hence the term fudge stripe. Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 3:24Speaker 1: That's how they got their name.
- 3:27Speaker 2: My term of fudge stripe might be a little different.
- 3:29Speaker 1: That's when I take my buck. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Yeah,
- 3:32Speaker 1: we don't need to hear that. Especially 8 o'clock in
- 3:37Speaker 1: the morning. Oh, my gosh.
- 3:38Speaker 2: But, no, I love, listen, anything with marshmallow in it,
- 3:42Speaker 2: I am a happy guy. I mean, I love marshmallows
- 3:48Speaker 2: to the point where I started making my own marshmallows.
- 3:50Speaker 1: You like Peeps, too, right? No, no, no. I don't
- 3:53Speaker 1: like Peeps. You don't? Oh, I love them. Oh, yeah.
- 3:57Speaker 2: And my wife bought me for Easter. They sold out quickly.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Cotton candy Peeps. Oh, you talk about addicting. Can't think
- 4:07Speaker 2: of anything I'd want less. I'd rather eat a cucumber.
- 4:11Speaker 2: That's an interesting comparison right there. A cucumber or a peep.
- 4:16Speaker 2: What's wrong with peeps?
- 4:18Speaker 1: I don't know. It's a texture thing for me. Oh,
- 4:20Speaker 1: it is?
- 4:20Speaker 2: Okay, so you don't like marshmallows at all is what
- 4:22Speaker 2: you're telling me. I'm not a big marshmallow guy, no. Okay,
- 4:24Speaker 2: so if somebody offered you some Rocky Road ice cream.
- 4:29Speaker 1: From Baskin Robbins, which is my favorite. Okay, you'd eat it. Yeah.
- 4:33Speaker 1: If somebody offered you a s'more, would you eat it? Yeah.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I mean, I can eat marshmallows. I just prefer not to. Okay. Like,
- 4:40Speaker 1: Rice Krispies are one of my favorite things in the
- 4:42Speaker 1: entire world. There's all kinds of marshmallows in Rice Krispies. Okay.
- 4:46Speaker 1: You mean Rice Krispie Treat. Correct. When you say Rice Krispie,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I'm thinking of the cereal. Yeah, I don't want the cereal.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Neither do I. It's so boring. No.
- 4:54Speaker 2: My mom used to make Rice Krispie Treats with the marshmallows,
- 4:58Speaker 2: but she would put double the amount of marshmallow in it.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Okay. Oh, it was fantastic. Oh, yeah.
- 5:04Speaker 2: In fact, now I need Patricia. Can you call her
- 5:07Speaker 2: up now and tell her I need some Rice Krispies?
- 5:09Speaker 2: That'd be great.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Exactly. Have her make us some. Actually, it's funny that
- 5:13Speaker 1: we brought this up. So I do a live remote
- 5:16Speaker 1: in Cordon every year for like a customer appreciation day
- 5:20Speaker 1: at a certain business. Well, the owner of the business,
- 5:24Speaker 1: his daughter has this baking company. And she's incredible, like cakes, cookies,
- 5:28Speaker 1: you name it. Right. But she makes the best Rice
- 5:31Speaker 1: Krispies in the entire world. Really? How are they different?
- 5:34Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what she does, but
- 5:36Speaker 1: I know that when she gives them to me, they're unbelievable. Really?
- 5:39Speaker 1: So I've gotten to the point now for the last
- 5:41Speaker 1: two years when he sends his email, hey, y'all on
- 5:44Speaker 1: board with Customer Appreciation Day, I always respond back, yes,
- 5:49Speaker 1: but I need a pan of Rice Krispies. A pan? Yeah,
- 5:53Speaker 1: a whole pan. Holy cow! I want a.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Whole big tray of them. That's not asking for too much.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Are they paying you, by the way, to do this
- 6:00Speaker 2: customer appreciation?
- 6:00Speaker 1: They are. Okay, good.
- 6:02Speaker 2: And then on top of it, in your contract to
- 6:05Speaker 2: do this customer appreciation, it is pay me, and then
- 6:10Speaker 2: I need a pan of Rice Krispie Treats. I love
- 6:13Speaker 2: that you're that way. I told him last year, because
- 6:15Speaker 2: last year was the first year I tried this move.
- 6:18Speaker 2: She actually brought the Rice Krispies, and I said, man,
- 6:20Speaker 2: good thing these are here. I'd be leaving. So, I
- 6:23Speaker 2: think moving forward, I think I'll get a pan every year,
- 6:25Speaker 2: which is really exciting. It sounds like I need to
- 6:27Speaker 2: do a Just the Cast remote here. And you know what?
- 6:31Speaker 2: All they would need to do is give me a
- 6:32Speaker 2: pan of Rice Krispie Treats. Forget about any kind of financial,
- 6:37Speaker 2: monetary type of transaction here. I just want Rice. I
- 6:41Speaker 2: can be bought in Rice Krispie Treats. They're worth it.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Is that the best treat in your mind?
- 6:47Speaker 1: It is in mine, yeah. I love Rice Krispie. You do? Okay.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I mean, the only thing that could compete with it
- 6:52Speaker 1: would be like a double-decker fudge round. A double-decker fudge? Round. Round? Round.
- 7:01Speaker 3: I don't know what a round is. You don't know
- 7:02Speaker 3: what a fudge round? No, never heard of that.
- 7:05Speaker 1: No. Stop it.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Yeah, this is, I am learning all kinds of stuff
- 7:09Speaker 3: from you today. If it's got chocolate, it involves chocolate.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I know. Is it like a ho-ho? No, but it
- 7:17Speaker 1: is a little Debbie.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Okay, well, Little Debbie's not ho-ho, okay?
- 7:20Speaker 1: There are differences here. Who makes ho-ho? Hostess. Oh, okay.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Hostess Cupcake. Little Debbie greater than hostess. No, absolutely not.
- 7:28Speaker 1: You're wrong. No, stop. We're not even going to have
- 7:30Speaker 1: this debate because you're so far wrong. You are wrong.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Ho-hos are the greatest. Absolutely not. Yes, I'm a ho-ho. Ho-ho,
- 7:38Speaker 1: you can have the opinion that ho-hos are the greatest.
- 7:41Speaker 1: But Little Debbie, definitively better than Hostess.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Can you imagine it? Hostess Cupcake. Guys, I got this
- 7:47Speaker 2: great idea. We're going to make this cake. We're going
- 7:49Speaker 2: to roll it up, put icing in it, and dip
- 7:51Speaker 2: it in chocolate. And by the way, here's what we're
- 7:54Speaker 2: going to call it.
- 7:55Speaker 1: A ho-ho.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I mean, that just sounds, did the guy just come
- 8:00Speaker 2: back from Bangkok the night before? And not only is
- 8:03Speaker 2: what he was with one, I shouldn't say that, but
- 8:05Speaker 2: I mean.
- 8:06Speaker 1: A ho-ho. And then he comes up with King Dong,
- 8:10Speaker 1: another version of a cake. Ding Dong. Yes. Well, it's
- 8:14Speaker 1: a King Dong, isn't it? Or is it Ding Dong?
- 8:17Speaker 1: Ding Dong. dong it's well that's.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Even worse isn't it you got a ho ho and
- 8:21Speaker 2: a ding dong and what happens when you bring them
- 8:23Speaker 2: together don't forget about the snowballs oh see that's what
- 8:26Speaker 2: creates it creates a snowball you get ho ho mating
- 8:30Speaker 2: with a ding dong and guess what you get a
- 8:33Speaker 2: snowball my mom loves snowballs.
- 8:36Speaker 1: They're so gross They're so gross.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Why?
- 8:41Speaker 2: Because they got delicious marshmallow, coconut.
- 8:44Speaker 1: They're pink. I do like coconut, but I've never cared
- 8:47Speaker 1: for snowballs. Really? I like snowballs. Can you even buy
- 8:52Speaker 1: snowballs anymore? Sure you can. Can you really? Yeah.
- 8:56Speaker 2: What was the, a Susie Q is the other thing
- 8:58Speaker 2: I just went nuts for. Have you ever had a
- 9:00Speaker 2: Susie Q?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Not familiar with Susie.
- 9:02Speaker 2: That's where you have the two cakes, two chocolate cakes,
- 9:05Speaker 2: and in the middle you have this whipped cream or something.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Oh, that looks good. The icing. Are you looking it up? Yeah,
- 9:11Speaker 1: those look tasty.
- 9:12Speaker 2: And see, the sad part about it, I don't even
- 9:15Speaker 2: know if they make, you know, didn't Hostess go out
- 9:18Speaker 2: of business not too long ago and then somebody tried
- 9:21Speaker 2: to revive it?
- 9:22Speaker 1: I don't know. It shows that you can buy all
- 9:23Speaker 1: this stuff at Kroger. At Kroger? Yeah. Okay. All right, then.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Even the Susie Qs. Okay, so you can buy it.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Hostess Cupcake was the other thing. I was all hostess.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I mean, that's why I was 400 pounds. That's a
- 9:38Speaker 2: bad take.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Really? It really is. Yeah. Okay.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Well, I'm a hostess. Listen, if I had a NASCAR,
- 9:46Speaker 2: mine would be hostess. I'd have a big old ding-dong
- 9:49Speaker 2: right there on top and driving around that track at Bristol. Anyway,
- 9:55Speaker 2: people probably think we're talking about other things.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Get a little edgy. I know. Get a little edgy. okay.
- 10:00Speaker 1: You know what?
- 10:01Speaker 2: It's going to get a little edgy because of my
- 10:03Speaker 2: parking situation, but I'll get over it. But anyway, I
- 10:08Speaker 2: want to talk to the lady that decided this. I
- 10:11Speaker 2: want to face her. That's what I want to do.
- 10:13Speaker 2: So you said Trevor went off yesterday on. He mentioned
- 10:16Speaker 2: it several times too.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Really? Really? Is he okay? Is Trevor my best
- 10:21Speaker 1: friend now? Yeah.
- 10:22Speaker 2: I kind of feel like he and I are scarily
- 10:25Speaker 2: a little too much alike.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, that is scary. You don't really want
- 10:28Speaker 1: that to be the case. Personality-wise, yeah. I get where
- 10:32Speaker 1: you're going right there. But I kind of like Trevor.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I mean, y'all scared me about him, but then when
- 10:37Speaker 1: he came on, it's like, I kind of like Trevor.
- 10:39Speaker 1: It's a shame you're not going to be here on Friday, right? Why?
- 10:42Speaker 1: Or are you going to be here Friday? No, I'm
- 10:43Speaker 1: not here on Friday. Because he's got to fill in again. Oh,
- 10:45Speaker 1: he does?
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yep.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Oh, this is terrible. I might need to be on
- 10:50Speaker 1: the air Friday. Okay. Yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Trevor needs. Oh, I shouldn't say that to you. Trevor
- 10:55Speaker 2: needs to fill in a little more, but oh my goodness.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Where are you going? Oh, we have a remote at Salsarita. Oh, Salsarita.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Okay.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I'm never included in the Salsarita remote. That's because it
- 11:07Speaker 2: doesn't open till 11. Well, isn't there a breakfast Salsarita? No,
- 11:12Speaker 2: but there needs to be. We've told Pam that for years.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Well, she probably does not get to decide something like that.
- 11:19Speaker 1: So anyway, all right. 502-384-1450.
- 11:23Speaker 2: You want to call 502-414-1450. You want to text in.
- 11:26Speaker 2: I'll get you your text in a little bit. But
- 11:29Speaker 2: how about UK football? Let's start out with that today.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Okay. Are you ready for this? Ready.
- 11:34Speaker 2: They were named the Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Team.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Of the Week yesterday. I was so jealous when I
- 11:40Speaker 1: saw this. Were you really? I was. Okay.
- 11:43Speaker 2: I didn't realize this was a thing as selected by
- 11:45Speaker 2: the Football Writers Association of America. And it's the fourth
- 11:49Speaker 2: time that UK has had this honor.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Really?
- 11:52Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Last time was in 2023 after UK beat number nine
- 11:56Speaker 2: UofL in Louisville.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Didn't realize it's been a thing that long. See, I
- 12:00Speaker 1: didn't either.
- 12:01Speaker 2: And I question whether it's been a thing that long.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I think it's been a thing for the Football Writers
- 12:07Speaker 2: Association of America, but I don't think it's been a
- 12:09Speaker 2: Pop-Tarts thing. So is it kind of goofy that they've added?
- 12:15Speaker 2: I mean, I would really like to ask the very
- 12:17Speaker 2: serious football writers out there that write for Football Writers
- 12:21Speaker 2: Association of America. Do they like that it's now called
- 12:25Speaker 2: the Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Team of the Week?
- 12:28Speaker 1: Because I will have to say. That is a mouthful.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And you know what?
- 12:32Speaker 2: I'm okay with that mouthful. But what else would make
- 12:36Speaker 2: me happy is a Pop-Tart in my mouth, too.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I got some over here. You want one? Do you really? Yeah,
- 12:40Speaker 1: brown cinnamon sugar? Nope. Lost me. All right. So that's
- 12:44Speaker 1: your favorite Pop-Tart? It goes back and forth. Sometimes I
- 12:48Speaker 1: like those. Sometimes I'm a strawberry guy. See, that's how
- 12:51Speaker 1: I am. I'm a strawberry guy. Yeah.
- 12:53Speaker 2: And if they didn't put the filling in, the strawberry filling,
- 12:56Speaker 2: I'd be good with that, too, if it was just
- 12:58Speaker 2: the pastry.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Ew. The icing and the, what do you call that?
- 13:01Speaker 1: I mean, you're just off to all kinds of great takes.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I am. I am. Well, that, I. Who wants a
- 13:06Speaker 1: Pop-Tart without the stuff in them? This guy right here.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I sure do. I love those things. But, yeah, just.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Take away, just give me the icing and the little pastry,
- 13:15Speaker 2: forget the strawberry stuff, and I'm good to go. Well,
- 13:18Speaker 2: you know how I feel about cinnamon, so you know
- 13:20Speaker 2: I'm not going to take the cinnamon one. Do you
- 13:23Speaker 2: like them toasted or not toasted?
- 13:25Speaker 1: Not toasted. Yeah. I'm the same way, too. You know
- 13:28Speaker 1: what I ate last night that I haven't had in forever,
- 13:30Speaker 1: speaking of toasted? What's that? Apple butter. When's the last
- 13:33Speaker 1: time you had some apple butter? All right.
- 13:36Speaker 2: My goodness. And you know the best place that had
- 13:39Speaker 2: the best apple butter ever? Was this place you've never
- 13:43Speaker 2: heard of. I guaranteed it was in Goshen, Kentucky for
- 13:46Speaker 2: a number of years. And I grew up going here
- 13:48Speaker 2: for breakfast and dinner. It was called the Melrose Inn.
- 13:53Speaker 2: And they had the best apple butter in the world.
- 13:56Speaker 2: So I would say it's probably been the better part
- 14:00Speaker 2: of 30 years since the last.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Time I had apple butter. That's way longer than I
- 14:03Speaker 1: was expecting you to say. So where did you get
- 14:05Speaker 1: some apple butter last night? So we got a guy
- 14:10Speaker 1: that hangs around our studio sometimes over at the other station,
- 14:13Speaker 1: and he brought us some. He makes it. I am
- 14:16Speaker 1: at the wrong station. I really am.
- 14:19Speaker 2: The only problems we have here is we can't park
- 14:21Speaker 2: in the parking spaces we want to park in.
- 14:23Speaker 1: And nobody, well, I shouldn't say that. Jamie brought us
- 14:25Speaker 1: some donuts one day. That's right.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I want to know, somebody tell me where's the best
- 14:30Speaker 2: place to go buy some apple butter. That is, you
- 14:33Speaker 2: talk about taking me back. Between that and my mom
- 14:36Speaker 2: used to make fried apples. Did you ever have fried apples?
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I was never really crazy about the fries. Oh,
- 14:41Speaker 1: that was dessert to me.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I mean, sometimes I would take it when we had
- 14:44Speaker 2: leftovers and I'd put some ice cream on it.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Oh, phenomenal. Yeah, it was great, though. I toasted me
- 14:50Speaker 1: a piece of bread, threw some on there. Yeah, I
- 14:52Speaker 1: like my apple butter with biscuits. You can get it
- 14:54Speaker 1: right next door, actually. Next door? Yeah, at the fruit market. Oh, really? Yep. Okay,
- 15:00Speaker 1: at the place that sells some crazy fruit over there.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I like that. Texas grapefruits. That's right, Texas grapefruits.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Kentucky tomatoes. Oh, well, when the tomatoes come out, I mean,
- 15:11Speaker 2: I'm there. I mean, it's got to be Kentucky tomatoes, though.
- 15:15Speaker 2: It is funny how they do that. Will Stein was
- 15:17Speaker 2: also named Dodd Trophy National Coach of the Week.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Well-deserved.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Well, I was kind of surprised that UK won a
- 15:25Speaker 2: bunch of these awards, yet Ole Miss beat LSU, which
- 15:30Speaker 2: to me, I'll be completely honest, was an even bigger game.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Are you kind of surprised you got UK safety Jordan
- 15:37Speaker 2: Castell named Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week? Of course,
- 15:43Speaker 2: he had a team high of 13 tackles and an interception.
- 15:47Speaker 2: That one that happened in the fourth quarter, that really
- 15:49Speaker 2: sealed the deal. Kenny Minchey was named great eight quarterback
- 15:55Speaker 2: of the week. and linebacker Sam Green named SEC defensive
- 16:00Speaker 2: player of the week with his interception, six tackles, one
- 16:04Speaker 2: for loss, and that fourth down stop that definitely sealed
- 16:08Speaker 2: the deal for UK. So I look at that and
- 16:10Speaker 2: I'm like, wow, what does Ole Miss think about this?
- 16:13Speaker 2: Because I feel like That was the bigger win of
- 16:17Speaker 2: the week. Listen, this was a huge, I'm not trying
- 16:22Speaker 2: to deny this was not a big win for UK.
- 16:25Speaker 2: But wasn't the Ole Miss-LSU win a bigger win than
- 16:29Speaker 2: the UK? I guess maybe because it was a surprise
- 16:33Speaker 2: that nobody absolutely expected.
- 16:36Speaker 1: What do you think? Yeah, I mean, that's it. Nobody
- 16:39Speaker 1: gave Kentucky a fighting chance at this. Nobody. Nobody except
- 16:44Speaker 1: the coaching staff and clearly the players. Whereas Ole Miss
- 16:47Speaker 1: and LSU was more of a toss-up. You had moments
- 16:50Speaker 1: where it felt like LSU should be favored, and then
- 16:54Speaker 1: you had moments where maybe Ole Miss wins this game. So, yeah,
- 16:58Speaker 1: I mean, I think the unpredictability of Kentucky getting that
- 17:04Speaker 1: win is just, yeah, that pushes them over the top.
- 17:07Speaker 1: It does. Okay, well.
- 17:09Speaker 2: And then now I'm starting to wonder, okay, if Menchie
- 17:11Speaker 2: continues to improve, which he's got better numbers than Arch Manning,
- 17:15Speaker 2: if you can believe that. And yet Arch Manning is the,
- 17:19Speaker 2: right now, the pick for Heisman, which just right.
- 17:21Speaker 1: No, Chambliss is. Is it Chambliss? I thought it was
- 17:24Speaker 1: Arch Manning. Arch is up there, but. Okay. All right.
- 17:27Speaker 2: But I look at this and I think, does Notre
- 17:30Speaker 2: Dame look back and think, ooh, did we maybe let
- 17:33Speaker 2: somebody go we should not have let go?
- 17:34Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I don't know. What do you think? I know Ohio
- 17:39Speaker 1: State fans are feeling the exact same way watching Lincoln
- 17:42Speaker 1: Keenholz for Louisville. I mean, that's just the times we're in.
- 17:48Speaker 1: If you're not going to start a player, he's going
- 17:50Speaker 1: to leave and go try to seek elsewhere where he
- 17:53Speaker 1: can be a starter. Could UK beat SMU? I don't
- 17:57Speaker 1: see why not. Look, Michael, after you go into Kyle
- 18:01Speaker 1: Field and take care of the number nine team in
- 18:04Speaker 1: the country, sure, you can think they were overrated all
- 18:06Speaker 1: you want. No, I don't think that at all. But
- 18:08Speaker 1: there is not a team that you can bring up
- 18:10Speaker 1: to me that I can honestly sit here and say,
- 18:12Speaker 1: do I think Kentucky would beat them? And I can't
- 18:15Speaker 1: say no. Exactly. At this point, you cannot. Except for
- 18:18Speaker 1: my Hoosiers. But they haven't been tested yet.
- 18:25Speaker 4: No.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And when is their first really big game? We got
- 18:30Speaker 1: Northwestern on Friday. That's not really a big game. But
- 18:33Speaker 1: Northwestern's playing a lot better this year.
- 18:35Speaker 2: They're playing better, yes. But, I mean, that's not a
- 18:38Speaker 2: true test. October 10th, I guess, would be the game
- 18:41Speaker 2: at Nebraska. That's probably our first big one.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Is it? Okay.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Nebraska's pretty good this year? I mean, we should kick
- 18:47Speaker 2: their head in, but we'll see. At this point, who
- 18:49Speaker 2: is the biggest surprise within the SEC? And I don't...
- 18:53Speaker 2: Mississippi State. That's what I was getting ready to say.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I don't really think it's Kentucky yet. I think it's
- 18:58Speaker 2: Mississippi State. Because weren't they picked to be... No, Arkansas
- 19:03Speaker 2: was picked to be last, weren't they? And you got
- 19:05Speaker 2: Mississippi State that was right down there with them. And
- 19:09Speaker 2: UK was only one pick above Arkansas, if I remember correctly.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Oh, wrong.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Oh, we were talking about biggest surprise. Biggest disappointment, definitely Arkansas.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Why is Arkansas the biggest disappointment? Nobody was picking them.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Horrible. Yeah. I mean, they are embarrassingly bad.
- 19:26Speaker 2: And then did you see how much more money they're
- 19:28Speaker 2: spending for basketball compared to football at Arkansas?
- 19:30Speaker 1: No, I didn't. Yeah. It's a crazy amount. Yeah. It's
- 19:35Speaker 1: very significant. So, all right. We got to take a break. 502-384-1450.
- 19:39Speaker 2: You want to call in 502-414-1450. Uh, if you want
- 19:44Speaker 2: to text in on the whiskey, Thief text line, or
- 19:45Speaker 2: you can tweet me at justacatradio. Plus, we'll get to
- 19:48Speaker 2: your tweets when we get back. But let's talk about
- 19:50Speaker 2: some more U.K. football and a little bit about volleyball.
- 19:55Speaker 1: I still got to give them a lot of credit.
- 19:56Speaker 1: They deserve it. Stay right there. This is Just the Cats. Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la.
- 20:26Speaker 4: Uh-huh.
- 20:29Speaker 1: It's down at the New Amsterdam.
- 20:35Speaker 5: It's down at this yellow-haired girl.
- 20:38Speaker 4: Mr.
- 20:38Speaker 5: Jones strikes up a conversation with.
- 20:42Speaker 1: A black-haired flamenco dancer.
- 20:45Speaker 5: You know she dances while his father plays guitar. She's
- 20:50Speaker 5: suddenly beautiful.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Okay, can I tell you about this band right here?
- 20:59Speaker 2: Because this is Counting Crows, right?
- 21:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Which is so confusing. You got Counting Crows, you
- 21:05Speaker 1: got Black Crows. Correct.
- 21:06Speaker 2: And they were both popular, really popular at the same time.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I went and saw the Counting Crows one time. They
- 21:12Speaker 2: sang this song. I think they took 30 minutes to
- 21:15Speaker 2: sing this song. And that might be a bit of exact.
- 21:18Speaker 2: I think it was like 15, 20 minute version. Of
- 21:20Speaker 2: that one song right there. That's a little long, isn't it? Yeah,
- 21:25Speaker 2: probably a little so. I mean, probably the most popular
- 21:28Speaker 2: song ever written that's really long is what in your mind?
- 21:34Speaker 1: Free Bird. Free Bird. No, I lied. That's not what
- 21:38Speaker 1: I was going to say. Okay, what? American Pie. Oh, God.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Worst song ever. I remember when I was a kid,
- 21:47Speaker 1: my grandparents lived. Oh, probably 12 minutes from us. And
- 21:53Speaker 1: that song was on from the time we pulled out
- 21:55Speaker 1: of the driveway till the time we pulled into theirs. Really?
- 22:01Speaker 1: I don't really think it was that long, but it
- 22:03Speaker 1: felt like it was on the whole trip. Jeez.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, that's one of the worst songs ever written.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I think Queen had Bohemian Rhapsody. That was really long.
- 22:13Speaker 2: That was really popular. Uh, what's the one by Led
- 22:16Speaker 2: Zeppelin stairway to heaven. That was really way too long.
- 22:21Speaker 2: You said free bird, which is another good pick.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Uh, and yeah.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Uh, what, what's the other one you just said? Um,
- 22:27Speaker 2: American pie, American pie, bye bye. Miss American pie. My
- 22:31Speaker 2: wife loved that song. It's just like, Oh, please stop.
- 22:34Speaker 1: By the way, counting crows will be a bourbon and
- 22:36Speaker 1: beyond on Sunday. Are they really? Yep. Nice.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Going all Bourbon and Beyond today. And I'm glad you
- 22:42Speaker 2: are because that was one of those groups I picked today.
- 22:45Speaker 2: I think I might try to go all Bourbon and
- 22:47Speaker 2: Beyond the rest of the week.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I like that.
- 22:49Speaker 2: I think you could do it. That may prove tricky.
- 22:51Speaker 2: I'm telling you right now. I'm disappointed I'm not going
- 22:54Speaker 2: to be in town. But this is the best lineup
- 22:57Speaker 2: Bourbon and Beyond has ever had.
- 22:58Speaker 1: It's a good one.
- 22:59Speaker 2: And I'm worried that I would wear myself out because
- 23:03Speaker 2: I would want to go every single day. Because there's
- 23:05Speaker 2: a number of bands out there I would want to see.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 23:08Speaker 2: So anyway, since UK scored 31 points against Texas A
- 23:12Speaker 2: & M this past Saturday, UK is offering tickets for
- 23:16Speaker 2: this Saturday's game. I think it's unfortunately already done because
- 23:20Speaker 2: I think it stopped. I believe it stopped at midnight
- 23:23Speaker 2: last night. So for the South Carolina, South Alabama game,
- 23:28Speaker 2: they're selling tickets for $ 31.
- 23:32Speaker 1: $ 31. I think that's great. It is great.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Everything that Will Stein and staff has done to, as
- 23:42Speaker 2: far as promotion for UK football this year, has been
- 23:47Speaker 2: nothing short of phenomenal. And I'm really proud of them,
- 23:51Speaker 2: what they've done. The whole concession stand thing, making beer cheaper,
- 23:57Speaker 2: doing the concessions cheaper. The whole website and the.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Well, not necessarily a website, but the social media posts
- 24:07Speaker 2: that they put up, it's just been home run all
- 24:10Speaker 2: the way around. And now you're doing something like this. Hey,
- 24:13Speaker 2: UK scored 31 points last weekend.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Guess what?
- 24:15Speaker 2: We're going to sell tickets to everyone out there that
- 24:17Speaker 2: wants to come for $ 31. And that allows people that
- 24:22Speaker 2: probably can't afford to come to a normal game and
- 24:25Speaker 2: spend all that money allows them.
- 24:27Speaker 1: And this is the perfect time. And because you know what?
- 24:29Speaker 2: I hope a bunch of people bought those tickets because yes,
- 24:33Speaker 2: it is South Alabama and Unfortunately for South Alabama, I
- 24:37Speaker 2: don't believe they're starting quarterback. Quarterbacks want to be starting
- 24:40Speaker 2: this weekend. So it's going to be a backup. So
- 24:43Speaker 2: this should be a game where UK steps it up. Listen,
- 24:47Speaker 2: do not pull back on the gas pedal. They need
- 24:51Speaker 2: to take South Alabama and just destroy them. No offense
- 24:54Speaker 2: to South Alabama, but this needs to be a game
- 24:58Speaker 2: that says UK did not win a flute game this
- 25:00Speaker 2: past weekend, which I don't.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Believe they did.
- 25:03Speaker 2: And go there and push down on that throttle and
- 25:06Speaker 2: just steamroll over this team.
- 25:09Speaker 1: And they will. You think so?
- 25:11Speaker 5: I do.
- 25:11Speaker 2: I always get a little nervous anyway. Like right now,
- 25:14Speaker 2: me saying all this stuff, I'm a little nervous about it.
- 25:17Speaker 2: I mean, they did that to, who was the first
- 25:21Speaker 2: team you played? Youngstown State?
- 25:22Speaker 5: Yes.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and that was supposed to be upset alert according
- 25:25Speaker 1: to CBS Sports. Yeah. I wouldn't worry about this game
- 25:29Speaker 1: at all. But then again, that's coming from somebody who
- 25:33Speaker 1: thought there was a 0% chance Kentucky wins last year. Yeah, exactly.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I mean, that's one of those things. I think that's
- 25:38Speaker 2: what Michigan did. I don't think Michigan is that great,
- 25:42Speaker 2: but I don't think they're that bad to where they
- 25:44Speaker 2: should lose to Western Michigan. I think they were just
- 25:47Speaker 2: overlooking that game and looking towards Oklahoma. Do you agree
- 25:52Speaker 2: with that, or do you think Michigan is really that bad?
- 25:57Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm still trying to figure them out.
- 25:59Speaker 1: There are so many teams across college football right now
- 26:04Speaker 1: that I just don't know what they are. And I
- 26:07Speaker 1: think your team is one of them. Absolutely. For me,
- 26:10Speaker 1: I don't know what they are. For me, too.
- 26:11Speaker 2: And I'm not trying to knock on IU whatsoever. I
- 26:15Speaker 2: don't know what kind of team UofL has.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Well, I mean, UofL I do have a better read
- 26:20Speaker 1: on just because they've played respectable opponents, but especially with
- 26:24Speaker 1: Indiana schedule, when you play three walkovers, it's hard to
- 26:28Speaker 1: gauge what the team actually is. Yeah. Even like Kentucky,
- 26:32Speaker 1: I'm still struggling a little bit with them because it's
- 26:35Speaker 1: so far from what I thought it was going to
- 26:38Speaker 1: be coming into the season. Totally. I'm still trying to
- 26:41Speaker 1: wrap my head around what it could possibly end up being.
- 26:43Speaker 1: You can wrap it, but, yeah, go ahead and wrap
- 26:45Speaker 1: it too. I'm not going to wrap it, but I'll
- 26:48Speaker 1: wrap it. But, yeah, I mean, it's hard to gauge–
- 26:52Speaker 1: what teams are this early in the season. I couldn't
- 26:54Speaker 1: agree with you more.
- 26:55Speaker 2: And because even though UK had that, I thought after
- 26:59Speaker 2: the Youngstown State game, they look really good. And then
- 27:01Speaker 2: it really messed my head up when I saw the
- 27:03Speaker 2: Alabama second half. But I thought UK looked really good,
- 27:09Speaker 2: even though they're playing Youngstown State. Now they came back
- 27:12Speaker 2: after a loss and they look really good again. So
- 27:17Speaker 2: it just made it fun. The dynamic of how UK
- 27:23Speaker 2: football has changed the perception people have for them in
- 27:29Speaker 2: the matter of just a week, you can say just
- 27:32Speaker 2: a few months, is just phenomenal. Game this weekend, remember,
- 27:36Speaker 2: it's going to be at 1245. Uh, Jaguars are two
- 27:40Speaker 2: in one so far this season. I don't know who
- 27:42Speaker 2: they played the first game, but they, they lost to
- 27:44Speaker 2: Tulane by four. And then they came back and, uh,
- 27:48Speaker 2: beat Ohio university, uh, last Saturday, 41 to 36. So
- 27:54Speaker 2: they're not beating teams by a bunch, but anyway, uh, you,
- 27:59Speaker 2: you got that this weekend. So, uh, I just, it's
- 28:02Speaker 2: cause here's the other part. That's amazing to me. what
- 28:05Speaker 2: one game can do to a program. Because I feel
- 28:08Speaker 2: like it was on the verge after the Alabama loss
- 28:12Speaker 2: that websites, the media, everybody was getting ready to turn
- 28:16Speaker 2: a page and go straight to.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Basketball.
- 28:21Speaker 2: See, as a kid, Justin, I always knew the football
- 28:24Speaker 2: season wasn't going well because when I would read my
- 28:28Speaker 2: good friend Oscar Combs' Cat's Paws, and we're only three
- 28:33Speaker 2: games into the season, and you already see basketball on
- 28:38Speaker 2: one page, basketball on the next page, basketball on the
- 28:40Speaker 2: next page. Then you get all the way to the back. Oh,
- 28:43Speaker 2: by the way, here's some football news. You knew it
- 28:46Speaker 2: was a bad season for football because everybody just flipped,
- 28:50Speaker 2: turned the page, and gone to basketball. See, I think
- 28:55Speaker 2: Mark Pope likes that. It takes a little pressure off him. Now, Cal,
- 28:59Speaker 2: he hated it. He hated UK football succeeding.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Yeah, because you're not getting people talking about basketball. You're
- 29:06Speaker 1: not getting the attention. Exactly.
- 29:08Speaker 2: And he wanted that attention because it meant a lot
- 29:10Speaker 2: to his recruiting players.
- 29:12Speaker 1: And I get it.
- 29:13Speaker 2: I get why he was that way. But I think
- 29:15Speaker 2: Mark Pope kind of likes it. He embraces it. I
- 29:18Speaker 2: kind of like that version more. I want us to
- 29:22Speaker 2: be not just a basketball school. I want us to
- 29:25Speaker 2: succeed at every sport. So the fact that we're winning
- 29:28Speaker 2: at football, we're winning at basketball, hopefully we'll win at basketball,
- 29:32Speaker 2: we're winning at volleyball. I want everything to succeed. I
- 29:35Speaker 2: don't want us to just be one known as one
- 29:37Speaker 2: type of school.
- 29:38Speaker 1: What's that say saying that all high tide rises all
- 29:41Speaker 1: boats oh i like that yeah i i don't think
- 29:44Speaker 1: i've ever heard that before how high tide rises all
- 29:48Speaker 1: boats which makes all the sense of.
- 29:49Speaker 2: The world why is it old is that why you've
- 29:51Speaker 2: never heard that i have i literally never on this
- 29:54Speaker 2: planet a long time you don't have to say it
- 29:56Speaker 2: that way that's just kind of mean But, yeah, I've
- 30:00Speaker 2: been here for a long time.
- 30:01Speaker 1: So, okay. Jeez. Let's get to the text line. 502-414-1450.
- 30:07Speaker 1: All the snack talk. This is from Josh.
- 30:10Speaker 2: And Christmas treat talks from last week has me reminiscing
- 30:15Speaker 2: about the older ladies that always brought in homemade treats
- 30:18Speaker 2: to work. Now I work from home and my coworkers
- 30:21Speaker 2: are just the voices in my head.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Shut up, Ethel. You think Ethel's really a person she
- 30:26Speaker 1: used to work with? I know an Ethel. Do you really?
- 30:30Speaker 1: I do, and she's not 110 like you would imagine.
- 30:34Speaker 1: How old is she? She's probably, if I had to guess, mid-60s. Okay, mid-60s.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I mean, there are a lot of first names you
- 30:44Speaker 2: don't hear anymore. Ethel's one of them. Yeah, I had
- 30:48Speaker 2: a teacher in sixth grade. This is definitely a name
- 30:51Speaker 2: you never hear of anymore, except for a golf club.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Her name was Bertha. Bertha Gauntz. I loved her.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Very strict.
- 31:00Speaker 2: You call her Big Bertha? No, are you kidding? No,
- 31:03Speaker 2: you didn't call Miss Bertha. Miss Scott's Big Bertha.
- 31:07Speaker 1: No, no, no. That was the hill we had to
- 31:09Speaker 1: run up for cross country. Oh, it was? Big Bertha?
- 31:11Speaker 1: Big Bertha, yeah.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Yeah, well, the only Big Bertha I know is a
- 31:14Speaker 2: golf club, which was really huge in the day.
- 31:17Speaker 1: It was. You don't hear much about Big Berthas anymore, though,
- 31:20Speaker 1: do you? Yeah, yeah.
- 31:22Speaker 2: But Bertha is a name you don't hear anymore. What's
- 31:24Speaker 2: another name? What's a man's name? Oh, I'll tell you
- 31:27Speaker 2: a man's name. This was my uncle's name.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Rufus.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Okay.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Okay.
- 31:33Speaker 2: His name was Rufus Lewis Bennett, and he went by Lou.
- 31:37Speaker 2: He never wanted to go by Rufus. But my cousin,
- 31:41Speaker 2: he disliked the name so much that he named his
- 31:44Speaker 2: son Rufus, and we called him Roof.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Oh, I love Roof. Rufus was hilarious. I'll give you
- 31:50Speaker 1: one that's not even that old, but that you don't
- 31:53Speaker 1: hear anymore. All right, I'm ready. Troy. Ooh, that's a
- 31:56Speaker 1: good one. There's not younger people named Troy. No? I
- 32:01Speaker 1: feel like everybody named Troy is of a certain age.
- 32:04Speaker 2: We'll have to look up. What are the most common names?
- 32:06Speaker 2: You still get a lot of Michael and Mike's.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:09Speaker 2: You steal a lot of Justin's as well. My youngest
- 32:13Speaker 2: son's best friend is named Justin. It's an unfortunate name.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Why do you say that? I never liked it.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Okay.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Okay. Just in time. So, I mean, that's why there's
- 32:25Speaker 1: a lot of things you can play. I know. But
- 32:28Speaker 1: John here.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Hey, Michael, can you explain the national championship recognition for
- 32:33Speaker 2: Kentucky football? Here is what the NCAA says. The consensus champion,
- 32:37Speaker 2: the NCAA lists Oklahoma as the official consensus champion for 1950.
- 32:43Speaker 2: This is because the two major wire service all at
- 32:46Speaker 2: that time. was the Associated Press and the United Press,
- 32:51Speaker 2: UPI and AP, voted the Sooners number one at the
- 32:55Speaker 2: end of regular season. Before the bowl games were even played,
- 32:59Speaker 2: the Kentucky acknowledgement, the NCAA does include Kentucky in its
- 33:04Speaker 2: records book for 1950, but specifically marks them as the
- 33:09Speaker 2: champion chosen by a single math computer selector, the Jeff
- 33:14Speaker 2: Sagarin ratings. Yeah, that's right, the Sagarin race. Sorry so long,
- 33:19Speaker 2: just want to get the context right. Yeah, I can't
- 33:24Speaker 2: explain it. I've always said Kentucky won the national championship
- 33:28Speaker 2: in 1950. The people that were around, Oscar Combs has
- 33:32Speaker 2: always said, Kentucky was the national champion in football in 1950.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Yet they don't get that acknowledgement. The only reason I
- 33:40Speaker 2: can think of, and the UK needs to fix this,
- 33:43Speaker 2: and I think it's because Oklahoma has historically been known
- 33:48Speaker 2: more as a football school. But UK, coached by Bear
- 33:54Speaker 2: Bryant back then, should be acknowledged as the– this is
- 33:58Speaker 2: something we should bring up to UK, Justin.
- 34:00Speaker 1: It's 1950. Who cares? If you want to claim the championship,
- 34:03Speaker 1: claim the championship. Go ahead and do it. I don't
- 34:05Speaker 1: think anybody's going to be mad at you.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Yeah, Western Michigan should just go ahead and claim to
- 34:10Speaker 2: be the win between their game with Michigan.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 34:14Speaker 2: They got their paycheck. They've already cashed it. Do you
- 34:18Speaker 2: think Michigan would say, oh, wait a minute, we're not
- 34:20Speaker 2: going to schedule you again if they said that? That's
- 34:23Speaker 2: the part I think they worry about. That's loser mentality.
- 34:26Speaker 2: It is loser mentality. And I think that's what Western
- 34:30Speaker 2: Michigan worries about, is that, well, we need that paycheck,
- 34:33Speaker 2: and if we say that, then Michigan's not going to
- 34:35Speaker 2: schedule us again.
- 34:37Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Well, then go schedule Michigan State. Get a big paycheck
- 34:42Speaker 2: from them. What are the other big schools in Michigan?
- 34:45Speaker 2: There aren't any besides Michigan State and Michigan. That's it,
- 34:48Speaker 2: isn't it? I can't think of any. Yeah, there's Central Michigan,
- 34:51Speaker 2: Western Michigan. I mean, they got every directional school in
- 34:54Speaker 2: the world up there.
- 34:55Speaker 1: They do.
- 34:56Speaker 2: But anyway, that's always bothered me. But yeah, John, I
- 35:01Speaker 2: agree with you. UK should just come out and say,
- 35:04Speaker 2: let's hang a banner here. At Commonwealth Stadium. And we
- 35:08Speaker 2: got the national championship.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Who was it that did that this weekend? Was it Auburn?
- 35:13Speaker 1: That just put up like a 1960s national championship? Yes,
- 35:17Speaker 1: it was Auburn.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Because they've been self-proclaiming that the last five or six years.
- 35:22Speaker 1: You're right. Yeah.
- 35:24Speaker 2: So why shouldn't UK? Do they find it silly? Do
- 35:28Speaker 2: they think that, well, I don't know. That's something we
- 35:32Speaker 2: should ask Will Steins. And he'd probably look at me
- 35:36Speaker 2: and say, who cares? Anyway, he'll say, I'm going to
- 35:41Speaker 2: win one for us. It'll be me that does it.
- 35:44Speaker 2: And I love that talk. You can be mad at him,
- 35:47Speaker 2: all the people that want to hate him on it.
- 35:48Speaker 2: You're going to hear that quote for the rest of
- 35:50Speaker 2: the time.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you are. And you know what? That quote I love.
- 35:53Speaker 1: It's like everybody still today is like Google me when
- 35:56Speaker 1: talking about Cignetti. You're going to hear that Will Stein
- 36:00Speaker 1: quote for the rest of the time. Yes. And you
- 36:01Speaker 1: know what? That's a good thing because they're talking about
- 36:04Speaker 1: UK football. Yeah. That's why. You said it a couple
- 36:07Speaker 1: of minutes ago. You got that loser mentality. Guess what?
- 36:10Speaker 2: I want that winner mentality. By the way, somebody texted
- 36:13Speaker 2: me and said, hey, Michael. It was King Dong. So
- 36:17Speaker 2: I think it was both. Oh, Ding Dong and King Dong.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah. And they spelled it D-O-N. King Don. It's like, no,
- 36:27Speaker 1: it's King Don. That's something totally different. I know.
- 36:29Speaker 2: But it was by Hostess. I mean, they show a
- 36:32Speaker 2: picture of Hostess there. Anyway, King Dong, Ding Dong, who cares?
- 36:36Speaker 1: No, you're right. I'm looking at it.
- 36:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a terrible name. All right, we've got to
- 36:40Speaker 2: take another break. I'm going John Wong long today. So, anyway,
- 36:45Speaker 2: 502-414-1450 keeps sending me texts, and I'll get back to
- 36:49Speaker 2: all of them before the end of the hour.
- 36:50Speaker 1: I promise you I will. Stay right there. No, not
- 36:53Speaker 1: one more segment. We've got a bunch of more segments,
- 36:55Speaker 1: Justin Katz.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Four.
- 36:56Speaker 1: A bunch of them. Stay. Yeah, four of them. She's
- 37:05Speaker 1: been looking at you. I don't think so.
- 37:09Speaker 5: She's looking at me.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Standing in the spotlight.
- 37:18Speaker 5: I call myself a great guitar. Everybody loves me. We
- 37:32Speaker 5: get some rules to follow. That endless, these hellos. No
- 37:47Speaker 5: one knows.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Now, there are some songs. This is what I don't like.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Because people can watch me on YouTube. Don't turn it
- 37:56Speaker 2: down yet.
- 37:57Speaker 1: I love this song. Thank you. This is a great
- 38:00Speaker 1: pick right here. Thank you.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Because I know I look so ridiculous. This is a
- 38:05Speaker 2: song that makes me want to headbang.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Okay? So my head's bopping up and down. And it's like, oh, crap.
- 38:10Speaker 1: YouTube's on. I got to stop. Because I don't want
- 38:12Speaker 1: to look dumb. Oh. I mean, there's only so much
- 38:15Speaker 1: you can do. Yeah. Who is this? This is Queens
- 38:19Speaker 1: of the Stones. That's right. Queens of the Stones.
- 38:21Speaker 2: They are. That's a great band. Another band I would
- 38:24Speaker 2: want to go see. I was talking to my buddy
- 38:26Speaker 2: Shannon yesterday. He called me up and was making fun
- 38:28Speaker 2: of me about something, of course. And he's like, there's
- 38:32Speaker 2: this band they're playing because, you know, he has to
- 38:34Speaker 2: go for his QMF stuff. And he said, there's this band.
- 38:38Speaker 2: I said, who is that? He goes, you know them.
- 38:39Speaker 1: And then he names.
- 38:40Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, I love that song. And he's like,
- 38:43Speaker 2: here's another one. I didn't know that band. And then
- 38:46Speaker 2: it's like, I love that song. It's like it just
- 38:48Speaker 2: is endless what they've done. And congratulations to the guys
- 38:52Speaker 2: that put this thing together. Is it the same guys
- 38:56Speaker 2: that do Louder Than Life do also Bourbon and Beyond?
- 38:59Speaker 1: That I don't know.
- 39:00Speaker 2: I don't know either. I'm sure somebody out there knows
- 39:03Speaker 2: and text me and let me know.
- 39:04Speaker 1: I just don't know.
- 39:05Speaker 2: But one person texted, and let's get to the text now,
- 39:08Speaker 2: because I promise you I'll get to these before the
- 39:10Speaker 2: end of the hour. One person texted in, 502-414-1450, don't
- 39:17Speaker 2: fried apples have cinnamon?
- 39:19Speaker 1: They do.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Yes, but if you were Annie Mae Bennett, my mom,
- 39:25Speaker 2: Annie Mae Bennett, she never put cinnamon in for me.
- 39:30Speaker 2: It'd just be sugar. Oh, you got the special. Oh,
- 39:33Speaker 2: I definitely got the special. Because you're right, Texter. There's
- 39:37Speaker 2: cinnamon in on some. Because, you know, when I go,
- 39:39Speaker 2: for instance, to my wife and I went to.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Cracker Barrel.
- 39:46Speaker 2: I forget why we stopped off in... I think it
- 39:49Speaker 2: was Simpsonville.
- 39:51Speaker 1: We stopped.
- 39:51Speaker 2: We were going to Lexington for something. And we stopped
- 39:55Speaker 2: there and they had a little bit of cinnamon in there.
- 39:58Speaker 2: And it's like, oh, come on, you're ruining it. But no,
- 40:01Speaker 2: my mom, Annie Mae Bennett, would never put cinnamon in.
- 40:06Speaker 2: And I always appreciate it. That's what a mom does
- 40:08Speaker 2: for her baby boy. So there you go. One person
- 40:11Speaker 2: texted in and said, Greengrass and High Tides, Outlaws, best
- 40:16Speaker 2: long song ever. Great call right there. Could not agree
- 40:20Speaker 2: with you more. Have you ever heard? I guarantee you
- 40:23Speaker 2: have not. You've never heard of the Outlaws, have you?
- 40:25Speaker 2: I've heard of the Outlaws. I don't think I've heard
- 40:27Speaker 2: that specific song.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Green grass and high tides forever. It's a great song.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Now I definitely don't want to listen to it. Oh,
- 40:35Speaker 1: stop it. It's a good one. Turn me off.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Listen, I used to, my brother-in-law had the vinyl of
- 40:41Speaker 2: the Outlaws, and I would play that song right there,
- 40:44Speaker 2: along with Deep Purple. I bet you've never heard of
- 40:47Speaker 2: Deep Purple either.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Nope. Oh, yeah.
- 40:49Speaker 2: He had an incredible vinyl collection back in the day.
- 40:52Speaker 2: But Outlaws, great call right there. One person texted in,
- 40:57Speaker 2: stairway to heaven is long. All those are the old
- 41:02Speaker 2: the DJ needs to use the restroom or has a
- 41:06Speaker 2: friend in studio songs.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Ah. That makes sense. Really? Is that what you do? Yeah.
- 41:13Speaker 2: You play the long songs when, you know, maybe a
- 41:15Speaker 2: lady friend comes over to visit. You got the candles
- 41:18Speaker 2: all lit and you're, you know, just say, I need
- 41:20Speaker 2: a little bit of.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Long standard song. We'll do for me.
- 41:22Speaker 2: Oh, that's not a compliment. You know, you're trying to
- 41:25Speaker 2: get a girl out there. They don't want to hear
- 41:27Speaker 2: a standard song. We'll do for you.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Okay.
- 41:29Speaker 2: I mean, that, that just does not put flavor in
- 41:32Speaker 2: there for Justin Kalen.
- 41:33Speaker 1: When the ladies are considering you. Okay. You need a
- 41:36Speaker 1: little more flavor. Don't ever say that again. Uh, Cletus.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Great name. Yes. Cletus is a name you never hear before. Right?
- 41:47Speaker 1: I love the name Cletus. I do, too.
- 41:50Speaker 2: We had a gentleman at my church all my life.
- 41:54Speaker 2: His name was Cletus Branstetter. And unfortunately, he passed away,
- 42:00Speaker 2: I think, just like three or four years ago. But
- 42:03Speaker 2: he moved to Lexington. Yeah, Cletus Branstetter. That's a phenomenal
- 42:06Speaker 2: name right there. There's a character in Grand Theft Auto
- 42:08Speaker 2: V named Cletus.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Is there really? Yeah. A character in what show? In
- 42:12Speaker 1: Grand Theft Auto V. Oh, the video game. Yeah, yeah. No,
- 42:16Speaker 1: I didn't know that. He's a redneck. Is he?
- 42:18Speaker 2: Oh, so we assume that Cletus is a southern name
- 42:21Speaker 2: is what you're telling me.
- 42:22Speaker 1: I would assume, yeah. Yeah. You ever met anybody from
- 42:25Speaker 1: New York with the name Cletus? No, I haven't. Uh, Claude,
- 42:32Speaker 1: I think Claude is another name. You hear, you never
- 42:34Speaker 1: hear other than AI. Yeah. That's the only time I've heard.
- 42:38Speaker 2: But as far as a human being named Claude, I,
- 42:41Speaker 2: it's been years since I've heard.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Somebody named Claude for mod. Yeah. Mod is another one.
- 42:47Speaker 2: No, a very famous TV show back in the seventies,
- 42:50Speaker 2: by the way, terrible show.
- 42:52Speaker 1: I never watched it. Uh, Michelle texted in, said Homer. Don't. Yeah.
- 42:58Speaker 2: That's a good call right there. Um, Then she also
- 43:02Speaker 2: said paradise by the dashboard light.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Which was by meatloaf. How familiar? Oh, is that that one?
- 43:08Speaker 2: That's really long and has the woman in it. Oh,
- 43:12Speaker 2: I think, yeah, I think I know that song.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Paradise by the dashboard light. Wow.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Ah, my listeners are really showing their age. Michelle, you're
- 43:22Speaker 2: not showing your age, but Rufus Allen used to own
- 43:26Speaker 2: a strip club on 7th Street. I have a doll
- 43:30Speaker 2: from my childhood named Rufus. Yeah, I like Rufus. To me,
- 43:35Speaker 2: because it reminds me of my cousin. How do you
- 43:39Speaker 2: say it? I mean, he was special, okay? And I
- 43:44Speaker 2: loved him. He came up and lived with us for
- 43:47Speaker 2: a while. And those were the times of my life
- 43:49Speaker 2: when my cousin Rufus came up here.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Special as in slow?
- 43:53Speaker 2: I don't want to say he was slow, but he
- 43:55Speaker 2: was challenged. Okay, whatever. But, yeah, Rufus was awesome. He
- 44:00Speaker 2: unfortunately passed away about four years ago. But, yeah, Rufus
- 44:04Speaker 2: was awesome. I mean, just full of life. Uh, babe
- 44:08Speaker 2: Pirelli was under center for that, uh, bear buying team, uh,
- 44:12Speaker 2: that took, uh, Oklahoma down.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Really? I didn't know that. That's another name.
- 44:16Speaker 2: You don't really hear babe. What a name for a
- 44:21Speaker 2: football player. Can you imagine naming your child Babe today
- 44:25Speaker 2: and he becomes this great football player? I mean, he
- 44:27Speaker 2: would not survive. He would have to be the toughest
- 44:30Speaker 2: kid out there or would have to quit football if
- 44:32Speaker 2: he wasn't.
- 44:33Speaker 1: And his name was Babe. If your name was Babe
- 44:35Speaker 1: back in that day, it probably meant you were going
- 44:37Speaker 1: to be an athlete. Oh, you think so? Babe Ruth? Yeah. Yeah.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Cletus was on Dukes of Hazzard. Was he really? Southern.
- 44:46Speaker 2: I guess Cletus is Southern. I'd say Rufus is Southern.
- 44:51Speaker 2: I mean, these old names you don't hear anymore. Do
- 44:55Speaker 2: they lean Southern? I guess they do. So one texter
- 45:00Speaker 2: texted in and said, the Whiskey Thief commercial sounds like
- 45:02Speaker 2: a Tegrity Farms promo by Randy from South Park.
- 45:08Speaker 1: I'm not familiar. I'm not either. I wish I was,
- 45:10Speaker 1: but I'm not.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Yeah, the city walk and the city, because I'm not
- 45:17Speaker 2: saying it the way they say it on there. uh
- 45:19Speaker 2: airlines those are the funniest commercial that's south park isn't.
- 45:23Speaker 1: It i honestly haven't watched too much of that oh
- 45:27Speaker 1: really it seems like it's on every day when you're
- 45:29Speaker 1: on social media if you get on tiktok or instagram
- 45:32Speaker 1: they're always playing uh the worst uh the little kid
- 45:36Speaker 1: calls in i want oh i thought i was calling
- 45:38Speaker 1: uh city airlines oh just a minute city airlines how
- 45:42Speaker 1: can i help you.
- 45:42Speaker 2: And he wants to go to canada for fifty dollars
- 45:45Speaker 2: fifty dollars It's just great.
- 45:48Speaker 1: I love that part. All right, hour two coming up.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Stay right there. More of Just the Cats. Welcome to
- 46:15Speaker 1: Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 46:25Speaker 2: All right, hour number two on this Tuesday. It's Tuesday,
- 46:29Speaker 2: and our good friend Mr. Top Button's not here.
- 46:33Speaker 1: What the heck?
- 46:35Speaker 2: Listen, I'm prepared for him. I'm choking myself right now
- 46:38Speaker 2: as we speak in honor of Corey Price, but what.
- 46:42Speaker 1: The heck, man? I don't know. Is he coming? Okay.
- 46:47Speaker 1: I haven't gotten a text. Should we text him? I
- 46:51Speaker 1: don't know. You don't know? I think we should text him.
- 46:54Speaker 1: I don't really want that responsibility. Oh, you don't? Okay.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I'll text him real quick. I've already got too much
- 47:01Speaker 1: going on over here. What all is going on? I've
- 47:04Speaker 1: got to set up his camera and make sure the
- 47:07Speaker 1: levels are good for the show. Oh, that's so much
- 47:12Speaker 1: to take care of. My goodness, I feel really bad
- 47:14Speaker 1: for you. Good night.
- 47:16Speaker 2: I don't know if I could balance all that or not,
- 47:18Speaker 2: but best of luck to you.
- 47:19Speaker 1: I got his camera on. Hey, Corey Price, Fashionably Late,
- 47:23Speaker 1: TV star. TV star, Corey Price. Oh, is he here?
- 47:27Speaker 1: Where is he? He just came in to give me
- 47:28Speaker 1: the traditional fist bump. Well, I mean, he's late.
- 47:32Speaker 3: He doesn't have time to go over there first. If
- 47:34Speaker 3: you go talk to him afterwards when you're this late.
- 47:37Speaker 3: I guess he decided he had the time. Can't knock
- 47:40Speaker 3: him for it.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Look, he's going to shake my hand with the wrong hand.
- 47:43Speaker 1: That's one thing.
- 47:44Speaker 2: There's two things that bother me about shaking hands. Someone
- 47:48Speaker 2: that does not give you a firm handshake. And my
- 47:51Speaker 2: best friend's dad did that. constantly my entire life. And
- 47:57Speaker 2: on top of all, he was from China.
- 47:59Speaker 1: So he was Asian.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Is that a typical thing for Asians to give you
- 48:04Speaker 2: the old fish hand as your handshake?
- 48:06Speaker 1: I have no idea. The other part is you just
- 48:08Speaker 1: don't want to say, cause you don't like the topic. No,
- 48:10Speaker 1: I don't. I really have no clue. I'm not well
- 48:13Speaker 1: versed in this.
- 48:14Speaker 2: The other part is I don't like it when people
- 48:16Speaker 2: take the other hand and want to shake your hand,
- 48:18Speaker 2: but you know, I'm left-handed and I'm thinking, well, maybe
- 48:21Speaker 2: that's the way I should shake hands.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Cause I'm left-handed. I don't know. But anyway, here he goes.
- 48:30Speaker 1: Got to fix stuff. Can we move Corey's mic or
- 48:33Speaker 1: his camera up a little bit? Can you do that, Michael? Yeah. Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Whatever you need me to do.
- 48:38Speaker 2: Perfect, Corey. But you know, it's Tuesday. Even though he's late,
- 48:41Speaker 2: I'll let him go ahead.
- 48:42Speaker 1: It's Tuesday. Go ahead with the intro. I don't mind.
- 48:48Speaker 1: It's better.
- 48:49Speaker 5: Promise me.
- 48:50Speaker 1: I'll be back in time.
- 48:58Speaker 2: You know, respect is earned, and he doesn't get my
- 49:00Speaker 2: respect today. I'm unbuttoning the top button. But he's a
- 49:03Speaker 2: TV star. Well, yeah, exactly. Oh, is that what it is?
- 49:07Speaker 2: So he's fashionably late because now he's a celebrity since
- 49:10Speaker 2: he's on Channel 56. What was it, 56? Fox 56, yes, sir.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Where is that station?
- 49:15Speaker 1: It is in Lexington.
- 49:16Speaker 3: Oh, so since he's now on Fox 56. TV star,
- 49:21Speaker 3: Corey Price, he's probably going.
- 49:22Speaker 2: To have a, this is a celebrity, UK celebrity, television star,
- 49:27Speaker 2: radio influencer, everything, Corey Price. I think we need to
- 49:32Speaker 2: have the big voice come on and say all of
- 49:34Speaker 2: that while Huey Lewis is playing in the background. What
- 49:38Speaker 2: do you think, Justin? That seems, again, like a little
- 49:41Speaker 2: bit too much work. But I think that's what Corey
- 49:43Speaker 2: is asking for now.
- 49:45Speaker 1: That's what he deserves. Does he deserve it? TV star. Okay. Well,
- 49:48Speaker 1: thank you guys for that. I appreciate it.
- 49:50Speaker 2: But evidently he won him on time for that yesterday.
- 49:52Speaker 2: That's the other part. He's such a big star now,
- 49:57Speaker 2: he was late for his TV appearance.
- 50:00Speaker 3: I had car troubles yesterday, you know.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and what's your excuse today? I just.
- 50:08Speaker 3: Quit worrying about the piece of paper and answer my questions.
- 50:10Speaker 3: There's dirt or something on this table.
- 50:11Speaker 1: Oh, this place is filthy. Don't worry. That's disgusting. Yeah,
- 50:15Speaker 1: I mean, it's terrible. You want to go wash your hands? Here.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Thank you. Take that.
- 50:20Speaker 3: I was just late getting out from work today.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Really?
- 50:24Speaker 2: Okay, so you let work get in the way of
- 50:26Speaker 2: coming on the radio show where you get paid. You're
- 50:28Speaker 2: leaving a job that actually pays you to come over
- 50:31Speaker 2: here and do something that absolutely doesn't pay you a dime.
- 50:34Speaker 2: How dare you be late for this?
- 50:36Speaker 1: It's tough, I know. Yeah, yeah. I apologize. All right,
- 50:39Speaker 1: so how do you feel? You did not go to
- 50:41Speaker 1: the game, correct? Sadly, no, I did not. Yeah.
- 50:44Speaker 3: How are you feeling? Are you still celebrating this ballgame?
- 50:48Speaker 3: I'm still on a pretty big high.
- 50:51Speaker 1: How could you not be? Yeah, I mean.
- 50:53Speaker 3: We've won a top ten game on the road six
- 50:56Speaker 3: times ever. Crazy three in the last four years.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:01Speaker 3: So half of them just in the last four years.
- 51:03Speaker 3: But I know with how we played against Bama in
- 51:07Speaker 3: the second half, I didn't think we had a chance.
- 51:10Speaker 3: You know, I'm on the radio every day talking about
- 51:14Speaker 3: UK sports.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Well, sometimes. And Fox 56 has yet to call me.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Why are they calling you? You're saying you're sometimes on
- 51:23Speaker 1: the radio or sometimes talking about sports. Well, maybe a
- 51:26Speaker 1: combination of all of that.
- 51:27Speaker 3: I have a face for the radio, so I'm not
- 51:32Speaker 3: sure why they asked me to be on TV.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Oh, really? Okay. How long were you on? Like five
- 51:37Speaker 1: and a half minutes. That's a good amount of face
- 51:39Speaker 1: time there. It's not bad. Did you put on something appropriate?
- 51:42Speaker 1: Brush your hair? Brush your teeth? Shave?
- 51:45Speaker 3: Did you look? If you watched what I shared, you
- 51:48Speaker 3: would know, sir.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Wow. Calling him out. I watched part of it. I
- 51:53Speaker 1: didn't watch it.
- 51:54Speaker 3: Then you wouldn't have to ask what I was wearing.
- 51:56Speaker 3: Because I wanted you to share with everyone what you did.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Corey, I am not a Kentucky fan, and I watched
- 52:02Speaker 1: it from start to finish. Thank you, Scoots. I appreciate it, Scoots.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Start to finish.
- 52:06Speaker 3: You know who is a true friend? Justin scoots Kalen.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. So it's going to be suck it, Michael,
- 52:15Speaker 1: from now on.
- 52:15Speaker 3: No, I would never say that, Michael Bennett.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Okay. All right. Well, I just wanted you to explain
- 52:21Speaker 1: what all you did. Hold on. This was your experience,
- 52:25Speaker 1: not Michael Bennett's. Right.
- 52:26Speaker 2: This is Corey Price's experience. And I wanted you to
- 52:30Speaker 2: talk about it because I know you were excited about it.
- 52:33Speaker 2: My first time on TV is a big deal.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Is it really? First time on TV? Yeah. Wow.
- 52:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 52:38Speaker 3: Got a DM from the producer of Fox like 5
- 52:41Speaker 3: o'clock Sunday.
- 52:42Speaker 1: A DM? Oh, wow.
- 52:45Speaker 2: That's when you're a celebrity, Justin, when they don't even
- 52:48Speaker 2: have your cell phone number.
- 52:49Speaker 1: They had to DM you. He slid into my DMs,
- 52:52Speaker 1: of course. Wow.
- 52:53Speaker 3: Kind of short notice, like I said, 5 o'clock Sunday
- 52:56Speaker 3: and asked.
- 52:56Speaker 1: I was like, yeah. Yeah.
- 52:59Speaker 2: I wonder if he would choose radio or TV if
- 53:02Speaker 2: they decide to have him on like at 9 o'clock
- 53:05Speaker 2: on Tuesday, Justin.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Who knows? I like. Radio better, I think, honestly. Do
- 53:10Speaker 1: you really? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Why? That's surprising you say that.
- 53:13Speaker 1: I have a face for it. Oh, and that's not
- 53:16Speaker 1: the real reason. Radio's easier because you can go in
- 53:18Speaker 1: with the mindset of... Nobody's listening. People don't know what
- 53:22Speaker 1: you look like and what you said, Michael.
- 53:25Speaker 2: You can go in thinking, well, nobody's listening. Yeah, so
- 53:27Speaker 2: I can talk about anything I want because what difference
- 53:29Speaker 2: does it make? I'm entertaining myself. And if they like it, great.
- 53:33Speaker 2: If they don't, I know, click, there they go.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Because I do that as well.
- 53:38Speaker 3: So I was on with Paul Jones. I guess he's
- 53:40Speaker 3: the head guy for their morning show.
- 53:43Speaker 1: Really?
- 53:44Speaker 3: So he asked me a few questions, and it was great.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Does he go by John, by the way? No. He doesn't?
- 53:52Speaker 1: John Paul Jones? No, he's not.
- 53:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't get that joke, but that's okay. Showing
- 53:57Speaker 2: my age again. Do you know who John Paul Jones is?
- 54:00Speaker 1: The monk? No. Rolling Stone?
- 54:02Speaker 3: No.
- 54:03Speaker 1: I know who John Jones is. John Paul Jones plays
- 54:05Speaker 1: the bass for Led Zeppelin.
- 54:07Speaker 3: I knew it was something from Rock Band, sorry. They
- 54:10Speaker 3: asked me already to do it again.
- 54:12Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, seriously?
- 54:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I might do the Monday after the
- 54:16Speaker 3: Vandy game. But what if it's a loss?
- 54:19Speaker 1: I'm going to have to talk about a loss, sadly.
- 54:22Speaker 1: Would you please tell them I'm available as well? I
- 54:24Speaker 1: would love to. I'll even drive to Lexington to be
- 54:27Speaker 1: in studio with him.
- 54:29Speaker 3: I will get in touch with them. Tell John Paul
- 54:31Speaker 3: Jones that, please, yes. And I'll even call him John
- 54:34Speaker 3: Paul Jones. My people will tell their.
- 54:36Speaker 2: Oh, here we go. There's another sign of Mr. Big
- 54:39Speaker 2: Time over here. And how many girls are calling you
- 54:42Speaker 2: now because you've been on television?
- 54:44Speaker 1: My phone has just been, I mean, constant. See? Exactly.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Did you get an agent yet?
- 54:50Speaker 3: I'm contemplating it, yeah.
- 54:52Speaker 1: Okay.
- 54:52Speaker 3: Thinking the GM agents, something like.
- 54:54Speaker 1: That, you know. Okay. Makes sense. Yeah, it makes sense.
- 54:57Speaker 1: All right. All right. Go ahead. Let's just... Just us
- 55:00Speaker 1: lowly people, you know, honored that you're here. So anyway,
- 55:04Speaker 1: go ahead, Justin. Justin. Or whatever your name is. Oh,
- 55:07Speaker 1: that's right. Mr. Price. Of course not. Okay. Of course not.
- 55:12Speaker 3: This week is September 20th through the 26th. Around this
- 55:15Speaker 3: time of year, at least back in the day, like
- 55:17Speaker 3: lots of shows like started around this time. So this
- 55:21Speaker 3: is all football and TV shows this week.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Is one of them Survivor? Absolutely not.
- 55:28Speaker 3: We're going to start off September 20th, 1984. The sitcom
- 55:32Speaker 3: Who's the Boss airs its first episode on TV. Tony
- 55:36Speaker 3: Danza was the boss, by the way, Michael Bennett.
- 55:39Speaker 1: No, he wasn't. Yes, he was the boss. No, he wasn't.
- 55:41Speaker 2: The beautiful lady that was on the show with him
- 55:44Speaker 2: was the boss. I watched that show for about two seconds.
- 55:47Speaker 1: That was enough. Oh, come on. Terrible show. That's not true.
- 55:51Speaker 3: Created by Martin Cohan and Blake Hunter. Starred, of course,
- 55:55Speaker 3: Tony Danza. Catherine Hellman.
- 55:57Speaker 1: Yes. Judith Light, Alyssa Milano. Ah! Settle down. Okay, sorry.
- 56:03Speaker 3: And Danny Pintaro. The show aired a total of 196
- 56:08Speaker 3: episodes over eight seasons on ABC.
- 56:11Speaker 1: 195 too many. That's wrong.
- 56:14Speaker 3: And Alyssa Milano won three Young Artist Awards for Best
- 56:18Speaker 3: Young Supporting Actress in a TV Series. She's gone on
- 56:22Speaker 3: to do some good things.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Has she? Yeah, Milano, of course. Okay, good. Scoots will
- 56:27Speaker 1: love this one.
- 56:28Speaker 3: September 20th, 1997, UK football defeats IU 49-7 in Bloomington.
- 56:36Speaker 1: Wow. 49-7. Wow.
- 56:38Speaker 2: That's an impressive one. Yep, that's what would happen if
- 56:40Speaker 2: UK played them this year.
- 56:41Speaker 1: That's right. Exactly. Yeah. We are the losingest D1 program
- 56:46Speaker 1: of all time. It's true.
- 56:47Speaker 3: This is the largest margin of victory for UK against
- 56:50Speaker 3: IU in school history at 42 points. Pretty sloppy play.
- 56:55Speaker 3: The two teams combined for 22 penalties. For 241 yards.
- 57:00Speaker 3: Good gosh. Tim Couch set a school record with seven
- 57:04Speaker 3: touchdown passes. And Craig East tied the school record with
- 57:07Speaker 3: four touchdown catches.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Wow. All on your lowly losers, Scoots. Let me know
- 57:13Speaker 1: when you got a title. Oh, we got one. 1950.
- 57:17Speaker 1: That's right.
- 57:18Speaker 2: 1950.
- 57:18Speaker 1: That's right. Let me know when you got a legitimate title.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Not some made-up Mickey Mouse version. Oh, my gosh. All right.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Moving on. This is one more.
- 57:28Speaker 3: First Trevor when I need him. Although the offense was
- 57:31Speaker 3: not as great in this one. September 21st, 1996. UK
- 57:34Speaker 3: football defeats IU. How about 3-0 at Commonwealth Stadium?
- 57:40Speaker 1: Are you serious? I don't even remember that. What a
- 57:43Speaker 1: horrible game. 3-0.
- 57:44Speaker 3: 1996, was that Uzalek as the offensive?
- 57:49Speaker 1: That was his last year. That's why, right there. That
- 57:52Speaker 1: was Curry's last year. Yeah. Oh, that was horrible. Uzalek,
- 57:55Speaker 1: and he used Tim Couch as an option quarterback, if
- 57:59Speaker 1: you can believe that. I know.
- 58:01Speaker 3: It's just the second time in school history that UK
- 58:03Speaker 3: shut out IU. They also did it in 1904. Both
- 58:05Speaker 3: teams combined to have 488 yards of total offense. UK 226,
- 58:08Speaker 3: IU 262. And Brian Johnson made the game-winning 26-yard field
- 58:17Speaker 3: goal with 14 seconds left.
- 58:19Speaker 1: So it was 0-0.
- 58:21Speaker 3: For 59 minutes and 46 seconds.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Yikes. Yeah, that was brutal. Did either of y'all hear
- 58:26Speaker 1: about the game, the high school game in northern Indiana
- 58:29Speaker 1: this week? No. So it was.
- 58:31Speaker 3: Does anybody hear about anything from the state schools?
- 58:34Speaker 2: I mean, it's not like big schools or anything. Justin,
- 58:38Speaker 2: do you hear how he is today? He's got some attitude.
- 58:40Speaker 1: After the TV thing. Yeah, it doesn't bother me. Okay, good.
- 58:43Speaker 1: That's normal. But it was 2-2 at the end of regulation.
- 58:47Speaker 1: You've got to be kidding me.
- 58:49Speaker 3: 2-2.
- 58:50Speaker 1: And then one team ended up hitting a field goal
- 58:52Speaker 1: in overtime, so they ended up winning 5-2. Can you imagine?
- 58:56Speaker 1: That's a baseball score. Exactly.
- 58:58Speaker 3: There was an Auburn-Mississippi State game, I think, about 10
- 59:01Speaker 3: or 15 years ago. The final score was 3-2. Wow,
- 59:07Speaker 3: a field goal and a safety. What a crazy way.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 59:11Speaker 3: September 21st, 1998, the sitcom The King of Queens aired
- 59:15Speaker 3: its first episode on TV. Are you all big King
- 59:16Speaker 3: of Queens fans?
- 59:17Speaker 1: No. It was okay. No. All right.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Created by David Litt and Michael J.
- 59:22Speaker 1: Whitehorn.
- 59:23Speaker 3: Starred Kevin James, Padden Oswalt, Leah Remini. Larry Romano, Jerry Stiller,
- 59:32Speaker 3: Nicole Sullivan, and Victor Williams.
- 59:34Speaker 1: See, that's why I wasn't a fan of it. Kevin
- 59:36Speaker 1: James is not funny to me. He's all right in
- 59:40Speaker 1: Grown Ups. He's all right.
- 59:43Speaker 3: They're doing a third one, by the way. Yeah, we
- 59:46Speaker 3: don't need a third one. I mean, the second one
- 59:49Speaker 3: was okay.
- 59:50Speaker 1: I thought the second one was better than the first one. Really? Okay,
- 59:52Speaker 1: fair enough.
- 59:53Speaker 3: The show aired a total of 207 episodes over nine
- 59:56Speaker 3: seasons on CBS. And the show won the BMI Award
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: for Best TV Music four times.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: More like BM Award, but go ahead. Best Music, BM. Okay.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: September 22, 1987. Sitcom Full House.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Yeah, now we're talking. Yeah, Full House was a banger.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: Michael Bennett. Okay. You never watched Full House? No, I
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: didn't like it. Oh, I thought everybody watched it. No,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: not even close.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: Everywhere You Look. Created by Jeff Franklin. Starred Andrea Barber,
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: Candace Cameron, Dave Coulier, Lori Loughlin, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen,
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: Bob Saget, John Stamos, Jodie Sweetin, and Scott Winger. The
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: show aired a total of 192 episodes over eight seasons
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: on ABC. And Andrea Barber, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Jodie Sweetin won a combined six Young Artist Awards. September 22, 2018, U.K.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: football defeats No. 14 Mississippi State 28-7 at Kroger Field.
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: This is U.K.
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: 's first win against a ranked Mississippi State team since 1953.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: U.K. held the Bulldogs.
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: To just 201 yards of total offense. And Benny Snell Jr.
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: led the Wildcats on offense with 165 rushing yards and
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: tied the school record with four rushing touchdowns.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Former King, Benny Snell. That's right. If you were a chick,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: who's the one guy you'd sleep with? John Stamos. Thank you.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: I bet you Corey didn't get the reference. Best magazine to... Oh,
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: you do get it. Good housekeeping. Well done, Corey. Velociraptor.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: I know Step Brothers. Come on. You really?
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: I don't know Step Brothers? That is an insult. That's
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: an insult.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: This is when Corey Price's personality comes out.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: That I love so much.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: I love comedies, Michael Bennett. Yes, you and me both.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: And the combo of Farrell and Riley, I mean, come on.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: I like Farrell and Mark Wahlberg maybe a little better.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: No. Yeah, I do. I hate to tell you. Well,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, John C. Reilly is pretty
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: freaking funny. I think he's underratedly funny. I remember my
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: first beer, which is ironic because I never drank. Moving on.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: That's enough ketchup. Yes. I like ketchup.
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: September 23, 1995, UK football defeats South Carolina 35-30 in Columbia.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: The wind snapped a streak of 11 straight SEC losses
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: for UK.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: What year was this? 95. What was the date? September 23rd. Okay.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: All right. That's not Antonio O'Farrill. That would have been
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: back in the early. That was Billy Jack Haskins. Billy
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Jack Haskins. Okay. Yeah, because Antonio O'Farrill did it, too.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: I think his last year was 94. Was he 94? Okay,
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: I got you.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: UK had the game-winning touchdown on a three-yard run by
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: Billy Jack Haskins with 923 left in the fourth quarter.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Another great name right there, Billy Jack. Oh, also, I
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: was listening.
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: Claude was my name in French class in the.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Eighth grade. Are you serious? It was Claude, yeah. Claude
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: was your name? That is so off of Corey. Claude.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Eighth grade, we had to take French for half of
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: the year.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: That's what he's going to make us do now, Justin,
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: is refer to him as Monsieur Claude.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: I've got to find back in time in French.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: And also, Babe, that wasn't their born name. They were
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: nicknamed Babe.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: I know it was nicknamed, but still, how can you
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: have a nickname Babe as a guy and you play football?
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: Well, thanks for listening, Corey. First time forever. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: That's the first time. I had it on while I
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: was running late. Running late. Yes, exactly. Exactly. Thank you.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: This game from 95 is the Mo Williams game.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: Ah. An SEC record 429 all-purpose yards. Whoa.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: 299 rushing yards 73 kickoff return yards and 57 receiving yards.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: You just had a different confidence back then when Mo
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: was playing for UK. You knew he was going to
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: get yardage. I mean, I would rank him as far
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: as greatest running backs. I mean, you've got to give
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: it to Benny Snell because he's got the most yardage
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: over everybody. But, I mean, Mo Williams might be where
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: on the list as far as you're concerned as the
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: top five running backs.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I can give you a Mount Rushmore. I would love
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: to hear your Mount Rushmore of running backs for Kentucky.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Benny Snell. Yep. Sonny Collins. Yes. Mo Williams. Yes. And C-Rod.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Chris Rodriguez. Yes. Or as we should say, Roderick Wes. Yeah. Sure. Yeah.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: It's just a reference from an old show neither of
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: y'all have heard of. That's great. Yeah.
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: September 23rd, 2009. The sitcom Modern Family airs its first
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: episode on TV. We all big Modern Family.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: I like Modern Family. No. I wasn't a Modern Family fan. No,
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: I liked it.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: Created by Stephen Levitan and Christopher Lloyd. Not that Christopher Lloyd.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: A different one. Starring Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson,
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: Nolan Gould, Sarah Hyland, Ed O'Neill, Rico Rodriguez, Eric Stonestreet,
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: Sofia Vergara, and Ariel Winter.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: You better get her name right. I try sometimes. Okay, good.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: The show aired a total of 250 episodes over 11
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: seasons on ABC. And the show won the Golden Globe
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: Award for Best TV Series, Musical, or Comedy in 2012.
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: 2012 was a great, great year.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: Why is that? We won the title. Oh, okay. I
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: figured it was all about Corey, not UK. It's not
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: always about me. Mr. TV star. It's almost always about me. See, exactly.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: He admitted it. I love this.
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: September 24th, 1955.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: I think Michael was in college then. U.K.
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: Football defeats No. 8 Ole Miss 21-14 at Stouffield.
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: This is U.K.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: 's fourth win against an AP poll top ten opponent.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: The first time since the 1951 Sugar Bowl against No.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: 1 Oklahoma. The national championship year. That's right. Yeah. That's right, Skeets.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Fuck it, Justin.
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: Both teams combined to complete nine passes on 25 attempts.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: And U.K.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: Had the game-winning touchdown on a one-yard touchdown run by
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: Bob Hardy with 11.47 left in the fourth quarter. September 24th, 1985.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Great year.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: The sitcom Growing Pains airs its first episode on TV.
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: In my opinion, the best TV show theme song of
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: all time.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: That's just me. That's a horrible take. Cheers is the best. Oh,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: I couldn't agree more with that. Cheers was awesome. Cheers
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: is great, but Growing Pains is better.
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: WKRP in Cincinnati was probably one of the best too,
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: but Cheers was the best theme song ever.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Not the best, but it's good. And Office was good, too.
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: I guess the best non-lyric theme song. Created by Neil Marlins.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: It starred Kirk Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio. He did some things.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: I didn't know that. Really?
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: Tracy Gold, Ashley Johnson, Joanna Kearns, Jeremy Miller, and Alan Thicke.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: The show aired a total of 166 episodes. Over seven
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: seasons on ABC. And Kirk Cameron won the 1990 Kids
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: Choice Award for Favorite TV Actor.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Oh, interesting. Is Alan Thicke's son still around? Robin Thicke.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Robin Thicke. Is he still around as a singer? He
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: had that Blurred Lines song, but beyond that. I haven't
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: heard anything from him since. Me neither. Yeah. September 25, 1976.
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: UK football defeats West Virginia 14-10 at Commonwealth Stadium. This
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: is UK's first win against the Mountaineers since 1968. UK
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: rest for 303 yards on 62 attempts. They only had
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: seven passing attempts, so if you're keeping score at home,
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: that's 69 total plays.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Nice.
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: Nice.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: And the game-winning score came on a nine-yard touchdown run
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: by Rod Stewart, not the singer.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: Oh, really? Rod Stewart? In the third quarter. Wow. Rod Stewart.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Hot legs. I mean, that was his greatest song right there.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: He had fast legs, not hot ones. I don't know.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: You know, I'm surprised Kentucky doesn't schedule more games. We
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: always did in the past with IU. We've always done
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: with Tennessee.
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: Cincinnati, we played a lot. Cincinnati, that's right.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: We don't really schedule any games with West Virginia.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: Basketball or football. I know. Yeah. Sad. It is sad.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: September 25th, 1999, the teen comedy drama series Freaks. and
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Geeks airs its first episode on TV. And this is
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: a cult classic. It didn't last long. I have never
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: heard of this show.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: Didn't see it. The cast. Oh, okay.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: Created by Paul Feig, starring Linda Cardellini, John Francis Daly,
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: James Franco, Sam Levine, Busy Phillips, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel,
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: and Martin Starr.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Full of great people. No joke.
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: A show with a total of only 18 episodes for
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: one season on NBC.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: But in 2016, Rolling Stone magazine ranked the show number
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: 11 on the list of the 100 greatest TV shows
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: of all time.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Number 11, and it only had, that can't be right.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: It was a great show. I'm not sure why it
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: got canceled so quickly.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: It says low ratings, erratic scheduling by NBC, and a
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: creative mismatch between the creators and network. Wow. Okay. It
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: was a great show. Should have been on Fox, but
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: Fox wasn't around. Or was it? 1999 it was. Oh, yeah,
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: it was. Okay.
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: September 26, 1962, the sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies aired the
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: first episode on TV.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Not a fan. No, not a fan at all. Jethro.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: That's another name you never hear of anymore. Jethro Tull?
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: Jethro Tull, that's right, yes. Aqualung.
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: The theme song's not that bad from the show.
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: It's okay. All right. Sorry, I'm just not a fan.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: I mean, what was... Callie's another name. Callie Mae. A
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: name you don't hear of much anymore.
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: Created by Paul Henning. Stars Max Bayer Jr., Raymond Bailey,
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: Donna Douglas, Buddy Ebsen, Nancy Culp, and Irene Ryan. The
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: show aired a total of 274 episodes over nine seasons
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: on CBS. In 1997, TV Guide ranked the season three
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: episode Hedda Hopper's Hollywood.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Say that ten times fast. I couldn't say it once.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: Number 62 on its list of the 100 greatest episodes
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: of all time. Last one, September 26, 1964. Big one.
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: U.K.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: Football defeats No. 1 Ole Miss 27-21 in Jackson, Mississippi.
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: This is U.K.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: 's second win all-time against an AP poll No. 1 team.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: I mentioned it prior. Beat Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl, 1951.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: U.K.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: Had the game-winning touchdown on a 22-yard pass from Rick
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: Norton to Rick Kessner with 238 left in the fourth quarter.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Rick to Rick.
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: And Rick Kessner led the Wildcats on offense with nine
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: receptions for a then-school record 108. And 85 yards, it's
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: now third most all time in school history.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: It's interesting they played that in Jackson, not Oxford.
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: Ole Miss back then would play some home games in Jackson.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Kind of like Alabama. I think even Memphis sometimes. Really?
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: I had no idea.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: But now you always counted on Alabama playing in Birmingham
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: at Legion Field. And now you don't see that at
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: all anymore. But that's a horrible stadium, by the way.
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: We were there for the bowl game after the 2010 season.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: Hall of Fame. Was that Joker Phillips' first season? Yep. Yeah.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: BBVA Columbus Bowl. We lost to Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: Horrible game.
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: Well, Mike Harline couldn't play. He was team rules or whatever.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: Well, after this past weekend, what's your kind of outlook
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: for the rest of the season now, Corey?
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: Has it completely changed for you? Like it has for me.
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: I'm willing to go up a win or two. I
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: thought initially five and seven. I think I can go
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: up to seven and five now.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: Can you really? Yeah.
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: And who did you increase as far as who UK
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: is going to beat? Well, obviously I didn't have a
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: win this past Saturday.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: I didn't either. That's a one right there. Yeah. And
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: then one more that I think we can get that
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: I didn't think– Maybe Tennessee. Oh, really? It's in Knoxville,
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: so we don't have a great history there. I would
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: have thought Oklahoma. Oh, well, that's true.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: And I'm going to that game, actually, so I would
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: be thrilled if we won that game.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: Are they going to let you be in the box?
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: I'm going as a fan.
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: You should tell him you're going and just go ahead
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: and get your own travel plans.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: I do want to enjoy one game a year as
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: a fan. Oh, you do? Okay, fair enough. There you go.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: Because it's different being up there in the press box.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: One of my good friends from college, we decided in
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: 2015 to go to one road game together each year.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Nice. And this year we're going to. I think that's
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: a great idea. All right.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: Corey, always fun having you here, especially after a big
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: win like we just had.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: And a big appearance on TV. Here we go again.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: Here we go again.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: If you haven't seen it, go follow Corey Price.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: You see Price. Smash that like button, you know? Yeah, exactly.
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: You can see him on TV. Like and subscribe. He's single, ladies.
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: He's single.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: And he doesn't mind driving to Elizabethtown, I'll tell you that. Right.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: Exactly it. Go ahead, Justin. If my car works. Oh, boy.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: That's not a good sign. No. That doesn't really thrill
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: the women when they know your card is unreliable. Don't
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: say that. It broke down. Between both of y'all. Honesty
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: is the best policy. I agree. Honesty is the best policy. But,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: I mean, that's kind of a thrill.
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: My card broke down yesterday, so I'm having some struggles.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: Are you? Is it working today?
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: I haven't even got it looked at yet. I had
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: a busy day yesterday, so I'm hoping I can get
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: it looked at.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: Oh, because he was on TV.
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: There goes another drop right there, Justin. Why didn't you
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: just beat him to it?
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: I was so busy being on TV for five.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: See, there we go again.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: Five and a half minutes that I couldn't get my.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: And you're giving me problems, Justin, about talking about parking here.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: And this guy's talking about TV a thousand times more
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: than me. I'd much rather hear Corey talk about his TV.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Scoots. That's right. Only because it's not uncomfortable to you. Exactly.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: All right, Corey.
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: Great having you. Big win this weekend is what I'm
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: hoping for. Is that what's going to happen?
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: Of course. Okay, good. We'll see you next Tuesday. Will
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: we be here? I'll be here. Yeah, quit asking.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: What did you want to say? Well, maybe I won't
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: with the parking situation. So anyway, stay right there. We
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: got more Justicats coming right up. 502-414-1450 If you want
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: to text in on the Whiskey Thief text line, I
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: love this song. I'm sorry. But it's just a little
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: too slow a start. It's like, get to it, man.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: It's one of the songs I get a little frustrated with,
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: even though I like it so much.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: Couldn't agree more. It's like, hurry up, man. Get to
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: the fun part.
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: Anyway, one person texted in, Babe, Dedrickson was the greatest
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: female athlete ever.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: You can use it for women, too. How about that?
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: Well, that's what I thought you would use babe for.
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: Babe sounds like, I don't know. Is that one of those,
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: have you ever had a girlfriend where you had little nicknames.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: For each other? I mean, I don't remember, but yeah. Really?
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: I did. Yeah.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: That's one thing my wife and I have never done.
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: I've never called her babe or honey or any of.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: That kind of stuff. No. No pet names at all? No. No.
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: When I'm mad at her, yeah, I call her pussy.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: When I get frustrated, I call her pussy cat, and
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: it irritates her. Yeah, I call her pussy. But none
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: for like positive. No, none for positive. No, she's Patricia. Yeah,
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: or I'll call her puss puss. Yeah, when she's getting
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: on my nerves, she knows when she is. By the way,
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: I texted her that since that Whiskey Thief commercial sounds
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: like a Tegrity Farms promo on South Park. Yeah, that's hilarious.
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: I went and watched that video. I showed it to Justin. Justin,
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: you didn't think it was funny.
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not really big on South Park in general. Yeah,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: it's kind of a. It's not necessarily my type of humor. Oh,
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: my gosh. There have been funny moments that I've seen
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: in South Park, but overall, I don't think it's that funny. Yeah.
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: One person asked me, did I prefer Ellie Mae Clampett
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: or Mary Ann? I'm a brunette kind of guy, so
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: that should answer your question right there. Please don't say
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: you were a Ginger fan.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: No, come on now. I will say I did date
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: one girl that was redheaded, and she was beautiful. No,
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: but no. And I'm not going to say her name,
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: but I think she lives up in the northeast now.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: Call her out. No, no, no. Her name was Megan.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: How's that?
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying. She now lives. She's a doctor
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: up in the northeast somewhere. It wasn't Megan with an H,
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: was it? No, it was M-E-A-G-A-N.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: There you go. A few more details for you guys.
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: Like the song says, I think my first crush was
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: Daisy Duke and then cut off jeans. I'm trying to
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: think who my first crush was. I honestly, probably the
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: girl from the Facts of Life. I can't think of
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: her name.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: Right now. It was probably her. Let me see if
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: I can look that up. Mine was probably the middle
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: sister from Full House. The middle sister from Full House? Yeah. Okay.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: Lisa Weschel. Yeah, she was Blair on the Facts of Life.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: That was probably my first crush.
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Can you remember who your first real crush was?
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: Not a celebrity, but here in when Justin was here.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: Do you really? I can name every girlfriend I ever
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: had in elementary school. Can you? In elementary school? No question. Wow.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: That's impressive. Yeah. Kathy Wallace for me. Ashley Agnew for me. Wow.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: Kathy Wallace was in Richmond, Virginia. I don't know where
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: she is today.
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: But then it was another girl here and then I
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: better not say her name because every now and then
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: she does listen to the show.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: I actually ran across mine probably two years ago. Did
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: you really? Last wedding I officiated. She was the photographer
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: for it.
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: Really?
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it was fun. Was she married? She's not, but
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: she's in a very serious relationship. Were you disappointed?
- 1:19:52Speaker 5: No.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: No, not really. All right.
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: He's still gorgeous. What do you think of John Summerall?
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: I know you talked about it on your show. Florida
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: head coach was informed that his team was favored by
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: three and a half points against Ole Miss. I think
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: this is going to be a fun game to watch.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: It will be.
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: And his response to me was absolutely priceless. There's a
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: lot of good drugs out there, huh? I thought that
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: it's like, okay, can we laugh about this? Or are
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: there going to be people out there that are going
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: to criticize him for saying this?
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sure there's some sensitive sallies that will probably
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: get on him.
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: And isn't that ridiculous that we cannot simply tease about this?
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: It's going to get me back to the whole thing
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: from a couple of weeks ago, and I'm not going
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: to do that. But I just think it's sad that
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: there's going to be people out there that are going
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: to say, oh, you can't be saying teasing about drugs.
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: That's a joke, and it was pretty stinking funny. And
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: I'm glad it was John Summerall that said this. Yeah,
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: it made me laugh big time.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: I mean, we were talking about on my show last
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: week how if you're a part of the coaching staff
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: or team, you've got to have belief that you're going
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: to go in and win every single game. And with
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: a quote like that, it doesn't feel like John Summerall's
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: in that mindset. Yeah. Which makes it even funnier.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: Well, you know, UK is a decisive pick for the
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: game this weekend against South Alabama. Did you see what
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: the opening line is?
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: Let me guess. All right. So you did not see it,
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: in other words. I have not seen it. All right,
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: go ahead. I'm going to go 31 and a half. Oh, wow. No,
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: that's a lot bigger. It's 20 and a half.
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: Only 20 and a half? Why do you say only?
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: I still think that's pretty big. You think it should
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: be more? I think it should be more.
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: Yeah, especially with the potential of their starting quarterback not
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: playing in the game this weekend.
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: It's going to be a row. I hope it is.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: I hope this is a one that you can play
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: your starters the first half, and then guess what? You
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: get to rep a lot of other plays in a
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: game like this, which down the road could potentially help
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: because you can't. Realistically, a football team can't stay healthy.
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Who's barking? Do you hear that? I sound like Troy.
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: He's a big Browns fan. Okay, there we go. He's
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: doing his Browns part. But that totally flipped me out.
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: So, but that's going to help with getting some of
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: those other players that don't get to play much. And
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: guess what? It might surprise you and find, ooh, he's
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: a lot better in games than I thought he was.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: And so that's going to help UK. By the way,
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: UK at South Carolina game time announced. On October 3rd,
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: kickoff will be at 415 down in Columbia.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: That's a weird time. That's what I thought.
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: I'm glad you said that because when I saw that,
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: it's like, I mean, don't we do 12 o'clock games?
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: I mean, now it's 1245.
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: This game this weekend is 1245. Then you got the
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: SEC game of the week, which is 330. Now we
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: have a 415 game. I mean, I thought that was
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: kind of weird too. Listen, if UK wins that game,
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: I'm going to predict it now. Shane Beamer's out.
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: He will no longer. I think he'll last the rest
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: of the season, but I think he'll be done.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: I don't know if he will. Oh, really? Chanting for
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: him to be fired. Yeah.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: I know we talked about it yesterday, but it is
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: kind of crazy how not only are they yelling it,
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: but they're actually putting it on their phones and holding
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: it up. Fire Shane Beamer. I mean, is that going
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: to help more?
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: I don't know. I think to me, yelling it and
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: him hearing it helps a lot more. I mean, he's
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: done regardless. I think you're right.
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: The other part I want to talk about is ESPN
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: College Football Power Index gives UK football a 53.3% chance
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: to reach six wins.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: I thought that was kind of low. Seems, looking at
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: the schedule and seeing what you saw on Saturday, it
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: does seem low. It does.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: And they're projecting UK to play in the Birmingham Bowl
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: versus Cincinnati in That would be kind of fun, although
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: I don't want to go to Birmingham. If you remember
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: who the head coach is at Cincinnati, that's Scott Satterfield.
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: Scott's Tots. Yeah, exactly. Scott's Tots.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: Another one they were predicting is playing in the Gasparilla Bowl,
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: which I really like. That's December 18th, and they're predicting
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: they would play against South Florida. Now, South Florida, if
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: you know, is based in Tampa, and they play currently
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: at Raymond James Stadium. So, that'd be a home game
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: for South Florida.
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: That's not where the bowl would be, though, would it? Yes. Oh, okay.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: It's going to be right there at Raymond James Stadium.
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: I mean, that wouldn't be a good bowl. Because it's
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: South Florida? Yeah, I think Kentucky would roll them.
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, their great coach left last year. He's at Auburn.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: Is that right? I believe. I believe so. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: So anyway, but that's the one I would prefer to
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: go to just because, well, it's Tampa. Why do you
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: want to go to Birmingham of all places? Why would
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: you ever want to go to Birmingham period?
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Great question. Yeah. Okay, good. I'm glad you agree with that.
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: All right. We got to take our last break. 502-414-1450.
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: Text me and I'll get it read before we end
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: the show. And anyway, I do want to talk a
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: little bit about football when we come back and then
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: I do want to say something about Arch Manning, which
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: I was kind of surprised about that he said yesterday.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: Stay right there. One more segment. I want you to
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: want me. I want you to want me. I need
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: you to need me. I doubt you doubt me.
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: I'm begging you to make me.
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: So Cheap Trick is coming to Loud River, or Bourbon
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: and Beyond? Yeah. I don't remember that. They'll be there.
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: Robin Zander, just by the way, is the lead singer.
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: I love Cheap Trick. That's another great band right there.
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: They are coming on Thursday.
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: Wow. I've really messed up. I really have. Thursday looks awesome. Okay,
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: go ahead. Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, The
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: War on Drugs. I'm not too familiar with them. Gary
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: Clark Jr. Oh, I love Gary Clark Jr. You'll have
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: to play him tomorrow. The Fray. Thursday's going to be awesome. Wow.
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: All right, because you've played Gary Clark Jr. on this
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: show before. I have. And you couldn't believe it. It's like,
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: you know this song after that couple of seconds.
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: But, yeah, he's a really good guy. talented, uh, guitarist
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: and singer on top of it all. He was one
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: of those guys that would bring somebody from the audience.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: He did this. I think it was Atlanta.
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: He brought this kid up from the audience to come
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: play guitar and the dude could rip it. I mean,
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: I love those kinds of guys. Foo fighters do that.
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: I'm trying to think who else has done that in
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: the past.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: Uh, uh, was it?
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: No, it was a few fighters. Didn't have a couple
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: of times. They had the clown guy. I don't know
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: if you ever heard about that. The guy was, no,
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: he called him Kiss Guy because he had makeup all
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: over his face and he looked like a kiss guy.
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: And so he brought him up and he was just
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: ripping Monkey Wrench is the song.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: That he would let him play. Yes. Very good. Yeah.
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: You're butchering it, but very good. Speak for yourself, butchering songs.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Well, that is true.
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: One person texted in, Michael, you don't have to go
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: to Birmingham. You could just have Scoots paint you a Birmingham.
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: I could. I get the reference. Make it look like
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: the way you planned. Well, you get the reference, right?
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: That's a Tracy. Come on. Who's that got? Lawrence? There
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: you go. Okay, there you go. Oh, country. That's big.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: Country right there.
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: Uh, 48 Handley says, speaking of the Gamecocks, how is
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: it they are allowed to keep their mascot while others
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: are made to change? They put metal spurs on them and, uh,
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: they fight to the death.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: Need I say more? That's a good point. Wow. I've
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: never thought about that. Gamecock would be a fighting chicken. Yes.
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: That's interesting. He is right about that. They should have
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: to change. Yeah.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: Uh, by the way, I I'm still frustrated by Mississippi
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: state being allowed to have cowbell. I'm to a point now,
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: it's like, okay, UK, let's bring our own cowbells.
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: No, you can't steal their thing. You've got to start
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: your own tradition. We do? Okay. Let's bring some flutes.
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: How's that?
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: We'll just be blowing in flutes the entire game. That's
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: your solution.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: I don't know what else is there. A drum? That's
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: a lot to carry. Zydeco. See, that to me would
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: be LSU. Or like a washboard. A washboard could be fun.
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: We could play the spoons.
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: Patrick texted out, Green Day invites people up to play
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: as well.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. You're right, Patrick. I have seen Green
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: Day bring people up.
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: And....
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: They were, usually they're really good. I couldn't do that.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: If I knew I could, well, maybe if I'd played
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: the song over and over a thousand times, I could
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: get up there and comfortably play it. But, you know,
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: by the time you get up there, you're in front
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: of thousands of people. And that adds a sense of pressure,
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: without a doubt. I found it interesting yesterday where Texas
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: quarterback Arch Manning made the comment he has never been
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: to Knoxville. I was surprised by that comment. By the way,
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: a lot of people. I think, well, his uncle played
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: at Tennessee. You'd think he would have gone to a
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: game because his uncle played there.
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: I don't know. You're not surprised by that? Not particularly, no. Okay.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: He also, Steve Sarkazian said that Nayland Stadium is the
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: loudest stadium in the country. That I really question. I
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: don't think that is true at all. Where do you think,
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: Justin Kalen, the loudest stadium in the country is? Somebody's
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: already ripping me about the flutes. I'll get that in
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: a minute. But where do you think the loudest stadium is?
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: That's a great question.
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: I tend to lean towards LSU, especially night game.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: That was going to be my answer. It was? Okay,
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Yeah. You shouldn't. Okay, fine. Just forget it.
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: One texter said, flutes, Michael? This one time at band camp.
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: That's a great line, by the way. I've used that
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: line so many times, it's not even funny when somebody
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: starts referencing bands or something.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: This one time at band camp. You get the reference,
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: don't you? I do. Yeah. Even though those movies suck.
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: You're so wrong about that. Anyway, but yeah, I came
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: up with flutes. That was a terrible come up with.
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: So anyway, harmonica. I mean, you can't do a whistle.
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: I mean, it's better than what Purdue does. The world's
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: largest drum.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: That is kind of goofy, isn't it? Yeah, I know.
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: And then UK tried to do that for a little while.
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: I was glad when they stopped that. The big blue drum?
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: Is that what it was? Yeah, it was silly. Apparently,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: it's in the college football video game. Is it? Oh, please, no.
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: That's just... Okay. I don't like that.
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: Okay. Just, please, let's come up with something else. I
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: appreciate the effort, but that was dumb. Will Stone was
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: making the rounds the last couple days on ESPN Radio.
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: He believes that UK has the right pieces in the
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: organization and in the university to be great.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: I mean, clearly. Huh? Clearly. Yeah. And that is what... Uh,
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: that was just one step in the process. It was
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: one game. I love that. He's saying this, this is
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: the kind of talk I want my coach to have. Okay.
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: I mean, he's, it's like we talked about earlier. He's
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: we did. He's saying and doing all the right things. Yeah. Yep.
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: Uh, UK volleyball back being ranked number three after beating, uh,
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: UofL on Sunday. Uh, next up for them is Wednesday night.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: So tomorrow night they are playing in Nashville at nine o'clock.
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: Against Vanderbilt.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, keep in mind it's 8 o'clock to Vandy.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: That's true. Yeah.
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: So they're playing at 9 o'clock, and then they're back
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: home Sunday for another really difficult game.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: Volleyball plays No. 7 Texas at Memorial. I'm so ready
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: for the tournament. Are you?
- 1:32:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: I get it. Because it's going to be fun again,
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: isn't it? Oh, it's going to be a blast. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: But I'm hoping they fill it up again, make it
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: a crazy, crazy sold-out game for them. will make me happy,
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: and I know it will make Craig Skinner happy as well.
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: So everybody keep that in mind. Please go to the
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: game 1 o'clock Monday as we celebrate. Or Sunday. Sunday, Sunday, Sunday. Yeah,
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: thank you. All right, everybody. Appreciate you listening. Appreciate the text.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: Fun show. I mean, just as soon as I think, oh, boy,
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: what's it going to be like today?
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: And it was just a ridiculous conversation by me and you.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: But anyway. All right, we'll see. Exactly, it is. We'll
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: see you tomorrow on Just Casting.
