- 2:12Speaker 4: in Okay. You see see a dog outside trying to
- 2:18Speaker 4: make everybody listening to mama, you know, just handling business
- 2:22Speaker 4: out of contact vendors. Today I've been doing the thing saying,
- 2:28Speaker 4: but a chicken wing.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:32Speaker 3: So my first question for you before we dive right,
- 2:35Speaker 3: and you know My lessoner is my you know, my
- 2:37Speaker 3: lucker is my audience. Want to tell us about yourself,
- 2:40Speaker 3: those who don't know you.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Well, First of all, as you already mentioned, I'm a
- 2:45Speaker 4: member of the most fabulous d not organization that has
- 2:48Speaker 4: ever been created. They took I make the sorority incorporated. Okay,
- 2:53Speaker 4: that's first and foremost. Okay. Second of all, I am
- 2:57Speaker 4: a mom, I am a child of God visionary, I'm
- 3:00Speaker 4: an entrepreneur. I'm an insurance agent. Okay. In my insurance
- 3:04Speaker 4: company is called Cornerstone Wealth Advisory and Insurance Services, since
- 3:09Speaker 4: with life insurance, Medicare first timers and those already on Medicare,
- 3:14Speaker 4: and also with investments. And I'm a single mama of
- 3:17Speaker 4: four beautiful children, two boys and two girls and three teenagers. Anyway,
- 3:26Speaker 4: but yes, the applications, well, I just want to say
- 3:36Speaker 4: thank you for taking the time out of your schedule
- 3:38Speaker 4: and coming on my broadcast around problem as everybody be
- 3:41Speaker 4: theirself and we talking about real conversations. So today we
- 3:45Speaker 4: are going to talk about you know, self care, self love.
- 3:49Speaker 4: You know, I want Tom off with an icebreaker for you,
- 3:52Speaker 4: right all right? So okay, so ready.
- 4:02Speaker 2: So when people hear about the phases of self care.
- 4:06Speaker 3: You know, they all would think about, you know, a
- 4:08Speaker 3: spa day, but when you hear it, when it comes
- 4:11Speaker 3: to your mind at first self care, the first thing
- 4:15Speaker 3: about is rest, because my thing is rest isn't always
- 4:19Speaker 3: laying down prostrates, which is laying flat feet propped up
- 4:22Speaker 3: with the pillows and your little cucumber sizes in your eyes.
- 4:26Speaker 3: It's rested to make sure.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Are things getting done? Are things being handled? And sometimes
- 4:32Speaker 4: that rest can incorporate resting your mind, not just your body,
- 4:36Speaker 4: but your mind as well. It could be something as
- 4:39Speaker 4: small as journaling, have a quiet moment to yourself, listen
- 4:42Speaker 4: to your ratchet music or spa music whatever whatever you
- 4:45Speaker 4: godspel music, whatever music can choose. But this makes that's
- 4:49Speaker 4: the first thing that comes bund when I think about
- 4:51Speaker 4: self care is rest.
- 4:53Speaker 2: You know, I think for me, I think of self care.
- 4:56Speaker 2: I think of I say I said love, Why love?
- 5:08Speaker 2: I think because you you have to love yourself, you.
- 5:10Speaker 4: Know, like for me self love self love like self
- 5:14Speaker 4: love is definitely where is that self care?
- 5:16Speaker 2: Because who don't care about you besides you?
- 5:19Speaker 4: And if you don't love yourself, who will love you?
- 5:21Speaker 4: You can't expect me to love you. Hear love yourself right,
- 5:23Speaker 4: I feel you. I was looking at.
- 5:26Speaker 2: It, so when did you first real life?
- 5:30Speaker 3: Self care has been a deep, deep importance to you
- 5:34Speaker 3: better than you know.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Bubble bath and vacation.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Let me get mussel together because hold on the more
- 5:46Speaker 4: I realized how important self care was when I was
- 5:49Speaker 4: going through my divorce, Let's just be real. Because I
- 5:52Speaker 4: realized after being a mom for so long, a wife
- 5:56Speaker 4: for so long, and wear those hats and putting me
- 5:59Speaker 4: before my health to where my doctor was saying, you
- 6:01Speaker 4: have ulcers you have you're losing hair, You're losing skin,
- 6:04Speaker 4: your teeth is hurt, and all that stuff going on.
- 6:06Speaker 4: It was stress induced. That was my bottom and my
- 6:08Speaker 4: valley experience to realize how important self care is. So
- 6:12Speaker 4: now my self care is getting my nails done, going
- 6:15Speaker 4: for a walk at the gym, around the neighborhood, making
- 6:18Speaker 4: sure I have moments throughout the date, and anfelt the
- 6:20Speaker 4: week that I had that self care. And when I
- 6:22Speaker 4: realized I don't have that self care, I started to
- 6:24Speaker 4: stress a little bit. I feel tension in my face,
- 6:26Speaker 4: in my neck. I'm looking for physical markers to say, hey,
- 6:29Speaker 4: when's less I arrested, okay, and it's just that was
- 6:33Speaker 4: the biggest thing. I realized that I was not taking
- 6:36Speaker 4: care of myself when my doctors were telling me straight up, hey,
- 6:40Speaker 4: we don't know what's going on in your life right now,
- 6:42Speaker 4: but if you don't stop whatever's happening to you and
- 6:44Speaker 4: take care of yourself, then you're gonna die and you're
- 6:47Speaker 4: gonna die out and look just like this because of
- 6:49Speaker 4: stress and well, they didn't realize that I was going
- 6:51Speaker 4: through a divorce, but they didn't realize this. I have
- 6:53Speaker 4: a chronic illness for over twenty eight years, well almost
- 6:55Speaker 4: twenty eight years now. I have chrome disease that requires
- 6:58Speaker 4: me the case and also self care. But all of that, again,
- 7:01Speaker 4: to be a wife and mother, I put everything on
- 7:03Speaker 4: the back burner. I didn't know how to balance time
- 7:06Speaker 4: for me and time as a mom and other titles
- 7:09Speaker 4: that I have in my life. I don't know how
- 7:11Speaker 4: to do that. So through that experience, I've learned if
- 7:14Speaker 4: I don't take care of myself and even more reason like,
- 7:18Speaker 4: I felt that burnout feeling like throughout the summer because
- 7:21Speaker 4: I have one kid doing football, I have so many
- 7:24Speaker 4: things going on a different level with my business, you know,
- 7:27Speaker 4: the entrepreneur mode, getting that mode sometimes and not know
- 7:30Speaker 4: how to off all the time.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Tell me about it.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Excuse me. Yeah, it's like I feel again. And also
- 7:36Speaker 4: with my health trying to balance out you know, new
- 7:38Speaker 4: medications and these tests they want to do and it's
- 7:41Speaker 4: just a lot. But I have to make sure and
- 7:44Speaker 4: make a priority consciously or it's going to be on
- 7:46Speaker 4: the back burner again. And I can't go through that again.
- 7:49Speaker 2: I think with me, will self care is? I think
- 7:52Speaker 2: because you know.
- 7:53Speaker 4: You know me, I'm always on boom boom boom boom
- 7:55Speaker 4: boom boom boom boom.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Like even my friends, my family and my spouse, they
- 7:59Speaker 3: always tell me when you're gonna relax, when you're gonna
- 8:01Speaker 3: do for you, and you know I take certain things off,
- 8:05Speaker 3: like oh no, I do nothing. The answer is no, no.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Thank you. I'm not going nowhere.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Let's say I got my who, I got my wine. Listen,
- 8:16Speaker 3: when I'm at home, I want nobody to bother me,
- 8:20Speaker 3: like my man understand, Like, yo, I don't wanna talk
- 8:24Speaker 3: at the moment.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Just give me this timeframe, just too and just what's that?
- 8:31Speaker 4: Literally, just give a few minutes and don't gotta be
- 8:33Speaker 4: all day. I still love your care for you, baby,
- 8:35Speaker 4: but you're gonna give you a few minutes for myself
- 8:37Speaker 4: to realize. I have to touch base with myself and
- 8:39Speaker 4: be into myself for a few minutes because it's been
- 8:42Speaker 4: a today. Their stresses life on everybody. Everyone has their stressors.
- 8:46Speaker 4: They're different for different people. Everybody can get stressed off
- 8:48Speaker 4: with different things differently. You may want to be stressed
- 8:51Speaker 4: for some person, may be a trigger for somebody else,
- 8:53Speaker 4: And you gotta always get conscious of that. And if
- 8:55Speaker 4: you don't take the top for yourself, who want to
- 8:57Speaker 4: do it? You won't be checking out of the hospital.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Oh I can break, but it is too late so
- 9:01Speaker 4: that you can't read. You can't you can't retract us
- 9:04Speaker 4: certain things. You know what I'm saying. So it's you
- 9:07Speaker 4: better take that time, baby, listen.
- 9:10Speaker 3: If you don't land, it's like, how can you functioning life?
- 9:15Speaker 3: You know, like you said, you are a mom, you're
- 9:17Speaker 3: a business owner and slash an entrepreneur. You know over here,
- 9:21Speaker 3: I'm an author, I'm a poet, I'm a brother at
- 9:24Speaker 3: and I'm in school and I have a relationship. I
- 9:27Speaker 3: don't have kids, but I have different you know our
- 9:29Speaker 3: prog what's the word. I'm looking for other things I
- 9:33Speaker 3: need to maintain. So how do you teach your kids
- 9:38Speaker 3: self kid?
- 9:38Speaker 2: You know? You know football, practice, you know school.
- 9:41Speaker 3: You know, doing different organizations, you know being being the
- 9:45Speaker 3: children being a child, you know, hav their brothers and
- 9:48Speaker 3: sister running around? You know, as a mom, like, how
- 9:51Speaker 3: do you teach your children how to self kid at
- 9:53Speaker 3: the early age?
- 9:54Speaker 2: At dar right now?
- 9:55Speaker 4: Communicate? We can't expect our kids to communicate with us
- 9:59Speaker 4: if I really can't communicate with our kids effectively. So
- 10:02Speaker 4: a lot of times it's mommy needs a break right now.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Mommy is tired, right now, I need a few minutes.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Oh I got no, give me a few minutes, Mammy,
- 10:14Speaker 4: give me about five minutes was my timer. I did
- 10:16Speaker 4: a few minutes a quiet time and then you can
- 10:18Speaker 4: come on with the questions or you know, I mean sitting,
- 10:23Speaker 4: have my quiet moment and they may not know that
- 10:25Speaker 4: and bust them in the room.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Oh no, no.
- 10:28Speaker 4: No, it's quiet time. Come back in about ten minutes.
- 10:33Speaker 4: That I got you. And if you don't communicate with
- 10:35Speaker 4: our kids, know that it's appropriate to ask for It's
- 10:38Speaker 4: okay to ask for and communicate that with our children.
- 10:40Speaker 4: How do you gonna know how to do it? And
- 10:42Speaker 4: I'm not screaming, I'm not hollering. I'm talking, Hey, it's
- 10:45Speaker 4: quiet time. So my kids are much younger, I would say,
- 10:50Speaker 4: oh it's quiet time, but it's like outside, it's time
- 10:54Speaker 4: to go on your bed for some rest for a
- 10:56Speaker 4: little while. The mommy look outside like this, Bobby, I
- 11:03Speaker 4: guess because sometimes you know when you when you for
- 11:07Speaker 4: your fuse being let them both ends, and you would
- 11:09Speaker 4: have blown out on your kids. And you don't want
- 11:10Speaker 4: to show them that part of you because your childhood
- 11:13Speaker 4: or through other experiences that maybe tread it for you.
- 11:16Speaker 4: You don't want to be You call your kids a
- 11:19Speaker 4: B C, A to Z. You want you your nose
- 11:23Speaker 4: and your ears and they know it's you. Better tell
- 11:26Speaker 4: them kids, go to be. It's quite a time of
- 11:31Speaker 4: fifteen minutes. Y'all been arguing all day. I suggest y'all
- 11:33Speaker 4: go to your rooms.
- 11:37Speaker 3: So like that, So having kids, you know self kids
- 11:42Speaker 3: also you know called boundaries. You know because because a
- 11:47Speaker 3: lot of people again I always speak this a lot,
- 11:50Speaker 3: I spent us on you know, the wrong broadcast, you know,
- 11:53Speaker 3: just a black canvas and I had just to do bodcasts.
- 11:58Speaker 4: You know, boundaries is always support it. You know, boundary
- 12:01Speaker 4: is always you know that self love, boundary is always
- 12:05Speaker 4: you know that self care. So how do you you know,
- 12:11Speaker 4: how can I say, how do you handle boundaries with
- 12:15Speaker 4: you know, a family member, friends, you know at work
- 12:18Speaker 4: have to learn that if they really would care, they
- 12:20Speaker 4: would reach out. I can't always reach out to different
- 12:24Speaker 4: people because sometimes my mind may ever forget or I'm
- 12:27Speaker 4: like I need some time to myself. Most of the
- 12:29Speaker 4: summer I didn't really reach out a lot of people
- 12:30Speaker 4: the summertime. This myth. This summer was like I didn't
- 12:32Speaker 4: do a lot of vacations with my kids running around
- 12:34Speaker 4: my kids. We would be the beach a few times.
- 12:36Speaker 4: That was it. My goal this summer was to rest
- 12:39Speaker 4: and heal because I had a lot of medical things
- 12:40Speaker 4: going on as well. And then when I could ould
- 12:42Speaker 4: balance to work at the work you know, workload in
- 12:44Speaker 4: there as well. But the biggest thing with boundaries is
- 12:47Speaker 4: I'm gonna do what I can when I can. I
- 12:49Speaker 4: can't do for everybody, and if I can't, I'm gonna
- 12:51Speaker 4: tell you no. And I don't have to explain what
- 12:53Speaker 4: my no is and why I'm saying no. I can
- 12:55Speaker 4: say disrespectfully no, thank you and going about my business.
- 12:59Speaker 4: You're not gonna add more to my play because your
- 13:01Speaker 4: play is full of you. On the no then, like
- 13:04Speaker 4: I said, just as nice as I did, I don't
- 13:06Speaker 4: think the attitude nasty with you. But no, it's my
- 13:08Speaker 4: no and my boundaries, my boundary. I want to explain
- 13:11Speaker 4: that to you. And I've learned that just ru the
- 13:13Speaker 4: past a year or two. If I said no, no,
- 13:15Speaker 4: those kids will say, well why, but why? Sometimes you
- 13:19Speaker 4: can always answer why because I said so, And in
- 13:23Speaker 4: the moment when I have more time on my hand
- 13:25Speaker 4: to explain that to you, out of that moment, whatever
- 13:27Speaker 4: that necessary moment is, I could break it down for you.
- 13:29Speaker 4: But in this moment, the answer is no, and that's it,
- 13:32Speaker 4: and that's what friends, children, whatever.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I think a lot of people don't understand the word
- 13:37Speaker 2: no because it's definitely oh.
- 13:39Speaker 3: They oh, they want oh, listen, they want an explanation
- 13:44Speaker 3: after no. And I think for me, I have learned
- 13:48Speaker 3: even with this year, I have not been out.
- 13:51Speaker 2: I would say I've been outside for certain things, right, I.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Haven't like when people book me for certain things, I'm like,
- 14:01Speaker 4: what if I'm gaining off of this, you know right,
- 14:04Speaker 4: I'm like, no, you just when use me because I
- 14:07Speaker 4: mean no the answers, no, why you can't do this
- 14:10Speaker 4: or why you can't I.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Don't have to give you that answer.
- 14:14Speaker 4: I'm not able to at this time. I pray you
- 14:17Speaker 4: I wol to feel that spot that you need me
- 14:18Speaker 4: to feel, have a blessed day exactly like it rubbed
- 14:23Speaker 4: me the wrong way, and it rubs some of my
- 14:26Speaker 4: friends refrashing like they want to answer right then me
- 14:30Speaker 4: as an individual person.
- 14:32Speaker 2: I don't have to. I'm not obligated to give you
- 14:36Speaker 2: that answer.
- 14:38Speaker 4: That part, that part, I'm not obliging to tell you anything.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Noah's no. I apologize you feel some kind of way
- 14:45Speaker 4: you want to show up to the event or do
- 14:47Speaker 4: ABC X y Z, but it's not can I I'm
- 14:49Speaker 4: not able to do that now. I'm sorry I disappointed you,
- 14:52Speaker 4: but I cannot be there for everybody that can't be
- 14:53Speaker 4: there for myself. And sometimes, like I hate to say
- 14:56Speaker 4: no to people. I've always wanted to try to go
- 14:58Speaker 4: and go to everybody's events to support everybody, but sometimes
- 15:02Speaker 4: God shows me I need to slow my happy self
- 15:04Speaker 4: down and just be still Peace, Be Still solves forty
- 15:08Speaker 4: six and one, and it says be still so many
- 15:10Speaker 4: times in the Bible, But how many times we have
- 15:12Speaker 4: to actually operate and that be still more, be still
- 15:15Speaker 4: and listen, be still, and no no what know who
- 15:18Speaker 4: you are? Know to how I say no?
- 15:22Speaker 3: So my next question is for you, how have you
- 15:25Speaker 3: ever felt guilty for putting yourself first?
- 15:27Speaker 2: And how how did you handle it?
- 15:33Speaker 4: Yes? Again, Like, the biggest issue I had with like
- 15:38Speaker 4: self care and boundaries was when I was going through
- 15:40Speaker 4: my divorce, and a lot of times that was I
- 15:43Speaker 4: realized I had to say no more often, and a
- 15:45Speaker 4: lot of times I felt guilty because I'm like, I
- 15:47Speaker 4: couldn't be there for everybody to do this. I don't
- 15:49Speaker 4: feel like I just I was not in the mental
- 15:51Speaker 4: capacity to go on in people's faces ki ha ha
- 15:55Speaker 4: if how I was going through Even then, I was
- 15:58Speaker 4: going through real private so I'm not going to block
- 16:00Speaker 4: what I'm going through In the streets. Some people were
- 16:01Speaker 4: trying to say, well, what's going on with you? Nothing,
- 16:03Speaker 4: I can't know. But that really hurt me, And it
- 16:06Speaker 4: kind of bothered me because I hated showing two people out.
- 16:10Speaker 4: But for my mental health, talk about things that are
- 16:12Speaker 4: traumatic for you and to you, over and over and
- 16:15Speaker 4: over and over and over and over and over and
- 16:18Speaker 4: over and over again. It's not healthy. Mental health professionals
- 16:22Speaker 4: said that all the time. You know what I'm saying.
- 16:24Speaker 4: So that was like the hardest part of was saying no.
- 16:26Speaker 4: And even when kids were much younger, they wanted to go,
- 16:30Speaker 4: excuse me, this party, that party, this event, that event.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Sometime I couldn't just do it. I had to tell
- 16:35Speaker 4: them no, they're crying boom and Mamma loves you. I'm
- 16:38Speaker 4: gonna say your mama, I still love you. You could
- 16:39Speaker 4: be upset, you could have your emotion, but I have
- 16:41Speaker 4: to say no at the time. And it's just eventually
- 16:43Speaker 4: you getting more used to it. I have more, so
- 16:46Speaker 4: eventually you start getting good at it. No no, just
- 16:53Speaker 4: like that.
- 16:54Speaker 2: I think for me growing up, I think I didn't
- 17:00Speaker 2: had another It wasn't a lot of noes for me.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I think it was a lot of I can see
- 17:08Speaker 2: what I can do, I can see what I can.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Do, and eventually, you know, you tell that yild not
- 17:13Speaker 3: to get your hopes up, but not to get your
- 17:15Speaker 3: hopes It's like it's mid level and you know I
- 17:18Speaker 3: learned that.
- 17:20Speaker 2: You know, a lot of people are.
- 17:23Speaker 4: Scared to tell me you know why I was little
- 17:24Speaker 4: because like it hurt my feelings. But now you tell
- 17:26Speaker 4: me no, cool, Cool because I respect that. I respect
- 17:31Speaker 4: your boundaries, right, and I respect you as a person
- 17:35Speaker 4: being outfront with me. Hey, I'm sorry I can't do this. Hey,
- 17:38Speaker 4: I'm sorry I can't come because back then, for me,
- 17:40Speaker 4: I always expect a lot of people be like why
- 17:43Speaker 4: did not come in? I always been like down, like right, I.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Expect so much people to do certain things, but reality
- 17:52Speaker 2: kicked them.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Like sometimes they can't do what you they can't do right,
- 17:59Speaker 3: and sometimes they can't show up how you want them
- 18:01Speaker 3: to show up.
- 18:02Speaker 4: That's right. Sometimes they have to show up for they
- 18:06Speaker 4: want self They don't even know how to do that exactly.
- 18:09Speaker 4: So people really do not and you can tell about
- 18:10Speaker 4: their self care. You ain't brush your teeth, brush your hair,
- 18:13Speaker 4: get your hair washed, and wash your tail and how long.
- 18:16Speaker 4: And one thing I'll be saying, one of my little
- 18:18Speaker 4: quotes I'll be saying is especially TikTok a little a
- 18:20Speaker 4: little social media pages. If y'all follow, I say, I'm
- 18:24Speaker 4: gonna mind my business, brush my teeth with my deorder
- 18:27Speaker 4: and drink my water. I got to worry about worry
- 18:32Speaker 4: about you too, no ma'am, no sir.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Oday. So let's let's switch a little bit, switch more
- 18:39Speaker 2: about it. You know, you say you're an entrepreneur.
- 18:42Speaker 4: You know, let's talk about your business, you know, real quick,
- 18:45Speaker 4: you know, let's let's talk about you know, health assurance.
- 18:48Speaker 4: You know why it's important to have health assurance because
- 18:50Speaker 4: pretty much self care and self love is always have
- 18:55Speaker 4: to do with that will come down to you know,
- 18:56Speaker 4: family members and have a certain thing happen, be having
- 18:59Speaker 4: the honest conversation with them.
- 19:01Speaker 2: So let's talk about it for minutes. Okay.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Well, for me, I specialize in medicare more for health
- 19:09Speaker 4: insurance for seniors who around sixty five or have a
- 19:11Speaker 4: disability and how are able to get medicare right, So
- 19:14Speaker 4: it's basically the same thing for you people who are younger.
- 19:17Speaker 4: If you care about your sple, love yourself, go on
- 19:19Speaker 4: a doctor in a regular basis. Don't be fearful of
- 19:21Speaker 4: the doctors. I know some of you have trauma when
- 19:23Speaker 4: it comes to doctors. But if you do basic maintenance
- 19:26Speaker 4: that helps curb a lot of things to go with
- 19:29Speaker 4: your body. If you know there's something hereditary in your family, diabetes,
- 19:33Speaker 4: high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, it would be wise
- 19:37Speaker 4: to use wisdom to get these things checked out regularly
- 19:39Speaker 4: so you can have preventative measures in place. If you
- 19:42Speaker 4: brush your teeth, I may joke about it, but if
- 19:43Speaker 4: you honestly, my great great brother, a great great excuse me.
- 19:47Speaker 4: You used to say, take care of your teeth, your eyes,
- 19:49Speaker 4: your ears, and your feet. With eyes, you gotta be
- 19:54Speaker 4: able to see. You can't a good prescription. I didn't
- 19:57Speaker 4: even know one. Now if you have a good prescription,
- 19:58Speaker 4: excuse me, gariality, but you can't see right if you
- 20:01Speaker 4: get take care of your teeth, But how you teeth
- 20:04Speaker 4: in your mouth? And also a lot of bacteria, a
- 20:06Speaker 4: lot of heart infections, and blood can come out of
- 20:10Speaker 4: sores and less in your mouth. You got taking care
- 20:12Speaker 4: of your hearing? How you gonna hear what going on?
- 20:14Speaker 4: If you can't, you can't, you can't, you know what
- 20:16Speaker 4: I'm saying. I got that situated. Also, when it comes
- 20:18Speaker 4: down to taking care of your feet. How many people
- 20:21Speaker 4: with diabetes are told to be extra cautious of what's
- 20:24Speaker 4: going on with their feet? A lot right, a lot
- 20:27Speaker 4: right now that I deal with with seniors, especially those
- 20:29Speaker 4: who are African Americans, deal with heart issues, deal with
- 20:33Speaker 4: UH diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular issues. Hey Tavoyd rice
- 20:40Speaker 4: Zevi anyway, anyway, but that's the biggest thing that I'm
- 20:48Speaker 4: dealing with. And not just call you know, our elderly
- 20:51Speaker 4: black you know, our elders of the family, but also
- 20:53Speaker 4: with Caucasian individuals. They deal more with mental health issues.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Sometimes not say every white person or every Black person
- 21:01Speaker 4: just with these things, but I see prevalent in a home.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Another big thing I see with seniors is loneliness. Y'all.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Self care isn't about abandoning granny and grandpa. Now I
- 21:12Speaker 4: understand generational trauma, etc. But sometimes all they want is
- 21:15Speaker 4: you to pop up real quick and say hello, I
- 21:18Speaker 4: don't look like half my clients. I make sure you
- 21:21Speaker 4: on my mind. If God puts you on my heart
- 21:23Speaker 4: in my mind, I want to pop up and right now,
- 21:25Speaker 4: loneliness is one of the biggest killers of singers. Right now,
- 21:29Speaker 4: they're neglected themselves. They don't care they and God bless
- 21:32Speaker 4: us who have cats and puppies as they feel like
- 21:34Speaker 4: some reason to live forward you know what I'm saying.
- 21:36Speaker 4: But any preventative of anything, as far as your health
- 21:40Speaker 4: is important. I don't care what age you are. If
- 21:42Speaker 4: you've an issue, get taken care of. It's what like
- 21:44Speaker 4: you see on TV and what's on popular right now,
- 21:47Speaker 4: pipple pop and all those stuff they got leisures and cancers,
- 21:49Speaker 4: bulbous things all across save body from top to bottom
- 21:52Speaker 4: and not get things taken care of. I had this
- 21:55Speaker 4: lamp on my back for seven years. I had this
- 21:57Speaker 4: lump on my hip. You got it for seven and
- 22:01Speaker 4: twenty seven years. And I think Jayla and dangling baby
- 22:07Speaker 4: Baby couldn't have been me. Is this a what of me?
- 22:14Speaker 2: Is this a I'm going to the doctor see by
- 22:18Speaker 2: a lot of people scared?
- 22:19Speaker 4: You know what?
- 22:19Speaker 2: I think a lot of people are scared of the results.
- 22:22Speaker 4: That and it has to be what it is, the fear.
- 22:24Speaker 4: But if you get you know one, it's minute, but
- 22:26Speaker 4: to make its bigger with it, it really is cancer.
- 22:28Speaker 4: And that thing's put across your whole day one body
- 22:30Speaker 4: and been ten twenty years now. Baby, it's too late.
- 22:32Speaker 4: But they called it when it's permittive, when it was small,
- 22:35Speaker 4: when you first got that thing checked out you know
- 22:38Speaker 4: what I'm saying, like cool now a lot of it.
- 22:41Speaker 4: I got to be fair, baby, it gotta be.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Me who I'm a Listen, I am a true believer
- 22:50Speaker 2: man and going to the doctor. I am a true believer.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I'm telling you this wasn't here. I'm telling you I
- 22:56Speaker 2: am truth. Listen.
- 22:58Speaker 4: If anybody have through my social media back in the day,
- 23:02Speaker 4: you have seen, if you have seen my teeth and
- 23:06Speaker 4: hor about I took the first.
- 23:08Speaker 2: I took the first that it gotta fix a lot.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Like a lot of people are just scared to take
- 23:14Speaker 2: that first step.
- 23:14Speaker 4: I'm telling you, yeah, he did. Fear. I've bet whate
- 23:18Speaker 4: guy he was fifty eight years old. Should holler at me, baby.
- 23:21Speaker 4: That's a whole other conversation. But one thing about it.
- 23:23Speaker 4: He had trauma from his teenage ys or get his
- 23:26Speaker 4: teeth done. This man teeth was rotten in his mouth
- 23:30Speaker 4: and he talking about he's scared to go to he
- 23:31Speaker 4: wanna get a whole new sit of teeth. But you
- 23:33Speaker 4: know how much a whole of the teeth costs for
- 23:36Speaker 4: what I'm got a hold on one side of my mouth.
- 23:38Speaker 4: That thing cost five thousand dollars for one tooth. Imagine
- 23:40Speaker 4: the whole cit of thirty two.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Okay, and that's not including you have insurance.
- 23:45Speaker 4: That's gonna include pain. That's not including the injections. Put
- 23:48Speaker 4: you to sleep every two beating the place and pulled
- 23:51Speaker 4: out and put back together. Everybody.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Maybe you need how gode like I'm telling you because
- 23:57Speaker 3: I just don't understand you sit here. I understand you
- 24:02Speaker 3: know health health. You know you don't have a health
- 24:05Speaker 3: assurance and stuff like that. But baby, you go to
- 24:07Speaker 3: the hospital, they have to check you out, they have
- 24:11Speaker 3: to doctor office. It's a different right, different right. But
- 24:18Speaker 3: there's even free health clics out right now. You have
- 24:20Speaker 3: to do your research and do your homework. But there's
- 24:22Speaker 3: free health clinics and get help you out right now
- 24:24Speaker 3: for for either for absolutely free or for a minuscule
- 24:28Speaker 3: minute price. And here in the Low Country there's a
- 24:31Speaker 3: clinic and Summerville that will meet on a regular basis
- 24:33Speaker 3: at a local church. I think call Hell and Hands
- 24:35Speaker 3: Ministry if I'm not mistaken. They'll meet on a regular
- 24:37Speaker 3: basis and do basic over check of your body. They
- 24:40Speaker 3: have free dental clinics there as well. If you guys
- 24:43Speaker 3: want to get pulled, get the tooth pulled, make sure
- 24:45Speaker 3: is the right one, but get the tool palled.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Questions.
- 24:52Speaker 3: But it's it's very important, man, it's very important. I
- 24:55Speaker 3: don't know because the game fear A fear is mentally
- 25:00Speaker 3: my people don't like yo. If you know you have
- 25:04Speaker 3: the fear because I get I hear these stories. I
- 25:07Speaker 3: definitely hear these stories.
- 25:08Speaker 4: You know doctors do take advantage of patients when they
- 25:11Speaker 4: at a low point, but that's not every doctor.
- 25:15Speaker 2: That's right doctor.
- 25:17Speaker 4: And then do you have do your research if you
- 25:19Speaker 4: think your doctor is a scle wack and you have
- 25:21Speaker 4: insurance or not, find one that you trust. Find irreputable
- 25:25Speaker 4: doctor that you like and you trust. If you won't
- 25:27Speaker 4: want to look like you, I don't care what your
- 25:28Speaker 4: color you have. If I want to look like you,
- 25:30Speaker 4: if you don't want to like you, if you want
- 25:31Speaker 4: a female, if you want to male. Doctor, you repar
- 25:34Speaker 4: what your issue is, request what you would like. But
- 25:36Speaker 4: make sure you get out of that fear and can
- 25:38Speaker 4: so check because God forbad something happening. You have children
- 25:40Speaker 4: depend on you, a spouse depending on you, family depending
- 25:43Speaker 4: on you, and you being self. Oh I got time,
- 25:45Speaker 4: I got time, I got to work these hours I
- 25:47Speaker 4: want to put that check in with it. That's I mean,
- 25:49Speaker 4: it is what it is, you know what I'm saying.
- 25:50Speaker 4: And some people are so fearful, whether they got chest
- 25:53Speaker 4: pains or side pains or something they think made going
- 25:56Speaker 4: on because they're so fearful. But at the same time,
- 25:59Speaker 4: you have the use that fear to scare you to
- 26:01Speaker 4: get right. You know what I'm saying. If you know
- 26:03Speaker 4: you gotta lose some weight and the beanies and weenies
- 26:06Speaker 4: and eat them fat back and put back and the
- 26:08Speaker 4: fat ryns and then I ask you for dinner. Did
- 26:10Speaker 4: you need to start doing that? But the see and
- 26:13Speaker 4: the thing is honesty, honesty, right, you know you you
- 26:17Speaker 4: want to lose, and I'm on this weight loss journey.
- 26:20Speaker 4: I'm telling you I was lost fifteen Listen, I was big,
- 26:24Speaker 4: but your boy and your boy looking color.
- 26:28Speaker 2: But like you have to be honest with yourself, like
- 26:31Speaker 2: you have to be honest with yourself.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Like I said, if you look at my social media
- 26:35Speaker 4: way back in my college year, this was not like
- 26:38Speaker 4: this telling you until I've been realistic and be like, yo,
- 26:43Speaker 4: my tea look messed up.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I want to say the other word, but my tee.
- 26:47Speaker 4: Look messed up, especially nobody would date no personally when
- 26:50Speaker 4: I messed out, like it's not self care like you
- 26:52Speaker 4: not taking care of yourself? Right? That tells a lot,
- 26:56Speaker 4: you know, And and shot to my doctor Trevor because
- 26:58Speaker 4: Trevor Trevor is wanted girls.
- 27:00Speaker 2: And really he really be honest with you. It's like,
- 27:05Speaker 2: you know you're supposed to be doing that. You know
- 27:07Speaker 2: you're supposed to be doing that.
- 27:08Speaker 4: This is right.
- 27:09Speaker 2: But shout out to travel man, like real quick. So
- 27:12Speaker 2: my next question for you, right is.
- 27:15Speaker 4: You see let me get nervous. Let you the question.
- 27:17Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, let me look. I'll be like hold on,
- 27:21Speaker 4: I'll be like, hold up, what's the next question?
- 27:25Speaker 2: A b cdmru. So how do you you know, self
- 27:32Speaker 2: evaluate yourself?
- 27:33Speaker 4: You know, like I said, I do about how I feel.
- 27:36Speaker 4: So sometimes I'm feeling kind of down. Let me go
- 27:39Speaker 4: for a walk, Let me have a little ton of myself.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Let me listen to my music.
- 27:41Speaker 2: I like to listen.
- 27:42Speaker 4: I listen to a wide variety of music. If I,
- 27:44Speaker 4: like I said before, if I feel attention to my
- 27:46Speaker 4: body in certain places even now, who else I have
- 27:48Speaker 4: to bow bath? You know what I'm saying. I check
- 27:50Speaker 4: myself and sometimes even to day, like my goal is
- 27:52Speaker 4: to day just get to the gym for thirty minutes,
- 27:54Speaker 4: like after that, Michaels are already in the car. I
- 27:56Speaker 4: know how I get. So my goal to get to
- 28:00Speaker 4: the gym fut least thirty minutes, get on the triple
- 28:01Speaker 4: and go. I when and every time I said, even
- 28:03Speaker 4: when I say I had to trip myself say this,
- 28:05Speaker 4: just go for ten minutes, just get just get to
- 28:07Speaker 4: the door. And now the Punnet fitness up. My house
- 28:10Speaker 4: two miles away and the four miles away, so I
- 28:12Speaker 4: had no excuse. But my fad wonder how you want
- 28:14Speaker 4: to go? But I go away. So with my self care,
- 28:19Speaker 4: I know that I go. You know, I have a
- 28:21Speaker 4: busy day and I'm exhausted. I know if I go
- 28:23Speaker 4: for thirty minutes to an hour, I'm gonna feel so
- 28:25Speaker 4: much better, and I'm gonna sleep real good because versus sleeping,
- 28:28Speaker 4: you'll work out in the morning. You would help pep
- 28:29Speaker 4: your day up. But at night. I've learned with me,
- 28:32Speaker 4: do not work out at night, even thirty minutes, ten minutes, whatever,
- 28:35Speaker 4: even an hour or two. If I get caught up,
- 28:36Speaker 4: I say for hours to the kids home. They save
- 28:38Speaker 4: they good with my grandparents. You know they're good. But
- 28:41Speaker 4: if I get a gym at night, I see so
- 28:43Speaker 4: much better at night. And sometimes I know my self
- 28:45Speaker 4: cares also need to be more more work or receive
- 28:47Speaker 4: more work. When I can't get sleep at night. What's
- 28:50Speaker 4: on my mind? What's what's going on? You know what
- 28:51Speaker 4: I'm saying. I had to check myself. So it's like,
- 28:53Speaker 4: you know, I I've listened to my body. My body's
- 28:55Speaker 4: hurting certain areas, bowl baths, walk music. You know, there's
- 29:00Speaker 4: different things I do. So now get my nails done today.
- 29:04Speaker 4: I do different things for me to distress. I think now,
- 29:10Speaker 4: I think for a lot of my people who are listening,
- 29:13Speaker 4: who's watching? So I have a like a one on
- 29:16Speaker 4: one conversation with God, Like that's very well we if
- 29:21Speaker 4: we like we here like this, he's my homie, Like
- 29:25Speaker 4: that's definitely where I definitely feel like I can always
- 29:30Speaker 4: talk to somebody who doesn't judge me, even though he listened.
- 29:35Speaker 4: I might not want the you know, the the end
- 29:40Speaker 4: results what I want, but you know, God knows what's
- 29:44Speaker 4: best for me, and God knows what's best for anybody
- 29:46Speaker 4: who believes in God. Anybody who believes what.
- 29:49Speaker 2: They believe in. But that's the part of myself care.
- 29:53Speaker 3: So my last question is for you, miss ma'am, like,
- 29:58Speaker 3: what advice can you give somebody on you know, self
- 30:01Speaker 3: care and self love or anything on this spressdel.
- 30:06Speaker 4: The biggest thing I would I would hit home after
- 30:09Speaker 4: our discussion on today is love yourself first, treat yourself
- 30:13Speaker 4: well and find things. It does have to be money related,
- 30:18Speaker 4: but find things. Three fourth, things that you enjoy doing
- 30:21Speaker 4: that helps relax you. I don't care if it's blowing bubbles,
- 30:24Speaker 4: call on the coloring book, going for a walk, journaling,
- 30:28Speaker 4: meditation on God's word, or outside in the peace peaceful
- 30:32Speaker 4: nature if you like peaceful nature. So that's my biggest
- 30:35Speaker 4: thing with Find something that you like to do at
- 30:38Speaker 4: least two to three things, and it's seek to do
- 30:40Speaker 4: those things a regular basis to lower your stress levels
- 30:42Speaker 4: and take care and love on you. Okay?
- 30:45Speaker 2: And how can people find you on social media?
- 30:48Speaker 4: Facebook, TikTok business, okay, well on TikTok Shelly, wellye pooh
- 30:56Speaker 4: coming at you and I'm playing So what do you
- 30:57Speaker 4: put on TikTok? Now? TikTok is my think to relax?
- 31:01Speaker 4: I cut over on TikTok. I'm cooking, I'm talking, I'm
- 31:04Speaker 4: going live, I'm enjoying life. I'm having something about crozy.
- 31:07Speaker 4: I talk about life, chronic illnesses, I talk about cooking.
- 31:11Speaker 4: The relationships. Everything is on social media. On there, Facebook
- 31:14Speaker 4: about professional or professional. I do little goofy stuff on
- 31:17Speaker 4: that more professional Michelle Raking on Facebook on TikTok chili
- 31:21Speaker 4: with you pooh. I'm also other forums with the other
- 31:23Speaker 4: two main ones I use for right now and also
- 31:26Speaker 4: on Insta and somehow there. As much as I am
- 31:28Speaker 4: my TikTok, I cut up, so if you want to
- 31:31Speaker 4: cut I'm gonna get a good laugh.
- 31:33Speaker 2: I say, man, thank you, man, I appreciate it. I
- 31:36Speaker 2: appreciate it. Thank you sitting down with me.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Listen.
- 31:40Speaker 3: You know you are definitely my girl, You are definitely
- 31:42Speaker 3: my friend. You are definitely wanting to have this real
- 31:46Speaker 3: conversation with men. It's a lot of conversation that a
- 31:49Speaker 3: lot of real people can't.
- 31:50Speaker 4: Have, right, And I'm real with it. I always I'm
- 31:53Speaker 4: gonna stay real, oh way, something to blunt some situation.
- 31:58Speaker 4: I'm always a kill now. I'm always gonna be real.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Well, thank you, thank you so much.
- 32:04Speaker 4: It's your boy, mister Zachary William and walk to the

- 32:29Speaker 2: I
