- 1:29yet.
- 1:30Been working in the garage.
- 1:32And thank goodness I had a hat beside
- 1:35me.
- 1:38So anyway, Corey can't get in.
- 1:45So if you guys just bear with me
- 1:48one moment.
- 1:50And I will send him a link.
- 1:56Maybe, maybe not.
- 2:00Um, just for mirrors is green now.
- 2:03I don't even know what that means.
- 2:07I'd never understood like the question or
- 2:09the different colors or whatever.
- 2:14Uh, but yeah,
- 2:18maybe it's just cause you're cool, Joseph.
- 2:28uh this is way harder than i wanted
- 2:29it to be um because i'm not signed
- 2:36in on my phone to be able to
- 2:38text him uh
- 2:56So anyway, lots going on.
- 3:08I can't type when I'm trying to do
- 3:10other things.
- 3:20Sure enough.
- 3:28All right,
- 3:28hopefully I can find his email address
- 3:34somewhere.
- 3:41So anyway, yeah.
- 3:46I don't even know what I was saying
- 3:47anymore.
- 3:48I saw Winter was watching Maximum
- 3:51Pleasure, and it is very, very good.
- 3:57And I'm glad she's into it.
- 3:59So Corey is really talk about off the
- 4:02rails, man.
- 4:03We are so off the rails,
- 4:05just trying to get him on.
- 4:11And I don't even have his,
- 4:17I don't even have his email address.
- 4:20Holy crap, dude.
- 4:32And I know he's in the chat.
- 4:33I wish you would send me his email.
- 4:49Try this.
- 4:50I'll just send it on IG.
- 4:54Let's try that.
- 4:58I sent it to his IG.
- 5:03Yeah, too much thirdsy, too much thirdsy.
- 5:06Now,
- 5:07my wife is actually out of town this
- 5:09weekend.
- 5:10So got up,
- 5:13started doing some stuff around the house,
- 5:15trying to get this garage cleaned up so
- 5:17I have a full gym.
- 5:22Yeah, that's what I'm trying to work on.
- 5:24And
- 5:27So I sent it to your IG, Corey,
- 5:30you can copy and paste it from there
- 5:32to whatever you need to.
- 5:39So anyway, um,
- 5:40I did have something to share with you.
- 5:41So my wife texts me this morning and,
- 5:46uh,
- 5:46she was looking out the dining room window
- 5:49when she saw this.
- 5:58So right outside the dining room window,
- 6:02her and her parents were sitting there
- 6:03having breakfast.
- 6:05And baby Black Bear apparently wants to
- 6:09come hang out on the porch.
- 6:16So, yeah.
- 6:18And this is possibly a future...
- 6:24our future home.
- 6:26My wife and I are actually looking into
- 6:29moving here after I retire.
- 6:39I have no idea where Corey is.
- 6:41I sent him a link in his Instagram.
- 6:47Yeah, it's my mascot Wayne.
- 6:49You're right.
- 6:50My mascot.
- 6:54Just coming to hang out and root for
- 6:57Caleb Williams and Tyson Bajent and all
- 7:00that stuff.
- 7:07Apparently,
- 7:07Corey hasn't learned how to turn on his
- 7:09computer.
- 7:10There it is.
- 7:11Bro,
- 7:11this is my wife's laptop that she uses
- 7:15for school.
- 7:17Normally, I've used this before,
- 7:20but it's apparently not being very helpful
- 7:22today.
- 7:23Hi, everybody.
- 7:27Yeah,
- 7:27so I don't know if you saw the
- 7:28bear.
- 7:29I did see the bear.
- 7:31Why is there a bear in your backyard?
- 7:33So that isn't my backyard.
- 7:34That may be my future backyard.
- 7:36Oh.
- 7:39My wife is at her parents' house.
- 7:41Oh, okay.
- 7:42I missed that.
- 7:42I thought you said she looked out of
- 7:44your backyard.
- 7:45No, no, no.
- 7:46Out of her parents' dining room window.
- 7:49She's there for Father's Day weekend.
- 7:52um i don't have a dad anymore so
- 7:55you know but um but we're looking at
- 7:58buying their house at some point and
- 8:01making that our retirement home nice so it
- 8:04may be my future home does it come
- 8:06with the bear uh mascot for my team
- 8:11right i mean so far so yeah fun
- 8:16stuff um yesterday we had a horse on
- 8:19the show today we have a bear
- 8:21My question to her was,
- 8:23if baby bears coming up on the back
- 8:25porch, where is mama and papa bear?
- 8:27Correct.
- 8:30I'd be a lot more worried about mama.
- 8:31I think papa bears probably is out doing
- 8:32whatever baby bears do.
- 8:34But mama bears can be pretty protective
- 8:36from what I understand.
- 8:39Oh, wow.
- 8:41Cory looks great.
- 8:43It's a darker background.
- 8:45He's not as flush.
- 8:46He's not under the office lights.
- 8:48Not under the office fluorescents,
- 8:51as it were.
- 8:51I also only got my haircut this morning.
- 8:56Mama Bear ain't too far behind.
- 8:57Yeah.
- 8:58That's generally the case.
- 8:59It's more often the case than it isn't.
- 9:03That is for certain.
- 9:04Yeah.
- 9:05So I decided today,
- 9:08if we're going to go off the rails,
- 9:09I'm going to do it later in the
- 9:10show.
- 9:11No.
- 9:13I didn't know he was on a schedule,
- 9:14but cool.
- 9:15Yeah.
- 9:16So today I wanted to talk about a
- 9:17couple of things.
- 9:18One, um,
- 9:22I got my media credentials yesterday.
- 9:25Yeah, you did for the elites still.
- 9:28Oh yeah.
- 9:29Depending on masters.
- 9:31That's why whenever you texted me
- 9:33yesterday,
- 9:33I didn't even bother to ask you.
- 9:39You know that, uh,
- 9:42that uh pat may and uh anakin thing
- 9:45where like he's talking to her and she's
- 9:47like and the and the whatever right and
- 9:51the whatever that's almost into that like
- 9:54and the masters right so
- 9:59tried to come in the back door and
- 10:01i asked the people at the elite the
- 10:04crossfit hq sure laura who i've worked
- 10:07with for years like hey does this get
- 10:10me into the masters too it's good for
- 10:12all of them and then i got that
- 10:14wall sorry nope you have to contact blop
- 10:20at legends.com to get your media
- 10:24credentials for the masters so
- 10:28That's still pending.
- 10:29But here's the biggest conundrum, right?
- 10:33And I was listening to Kyra's interview
- 10:34with Dave today,
- 10:36and it just kind of hit home with
- 10:37me because they announced that the elites
- 10:42are going to start on Wednesday now,
- 10:43right?
- 10:46She has to change her flights because she
- 10:49booked it like it was starting on Friday,
- 10:54and now she wants to be in a
- 10:55couple days earlier because of the
- 10:56Wednesday.
- 10:58Yeah.
- 11:00How many athletes are having to change
- 11:02their plans and getting stuck with higher
- 11:06bills because all of a sudden the unknown
- 11:11and unknowable is adding days to...
- 11:13The unknown and apparently chargeable at
- 11:18this point.
- 11:19Right.
- 11:19Right.
- 11:20And so I, when,
- 11:22when CrossFit announced they were going to
- 11:23San Jose,
- 11:25I immediately went to that week and I
- 11:27booked a hotel for,
- 11:30I think either Tuesday or Wednesday
- 11:34through the weekend.
- 11:35Sure.
- 11:36Got it at a really good price.
- 11:39Cause there was nothing going on at that
- 11:42point in time.
- 11:43Yeah.
- 11:44Now,
- 11:45if I want to go to the masters
- 11:46and I have to adjust, I'm effed.
- 11:49Big time.
- 11:55I wish that CrossFit could understand that
- 11:59not only for athletes, media,
- 12:03but spectators make plans, right?
- 12:08And then you have to like,
- 12:11now they've added days.
- 12:12How the hell do you make that happen?
- 12:24run up your credit card uh balance i
- 12:25really don't know i mean you can't a
- 12:28lot of times you can't can't like i
- 12:31had uh airbnbs i was looking at and
- 12:35i had the wrong date in uh for
- 12:39the monster games or or for whatever and
- 12:42when i went back and looked at the
- 12:43same places and tried to adjust it
- 12:46I couldn't because those days aren't
- 12:48available.
- 12:49The day that I was looking at was
- 12:50available.
- 12:51Those days were not available.
- 12:52And I'm sure it's the same way like
- 12:54that in San Jose because there's a lot
- 12:55of stuff,
- 12:55other stuff that's going to be going on
- 12:56besides just the games.
- 13:00Right?
- 13:01San Jose is a pretty big city.
- 13:03I'm sure there's some other sporting
- 13:04events and whatever else is going on in
- 13:06and around there.
- 13:07Not to mention just tourist destination in
- 13:09general.
- 13:10So that's a lot.
- 13:13you have to be able to just scoop
- 13:14up another place.
- 13:15And I'd be like, oh, no, it's fine.
- 13:16I'll just add two days earlier at that.
- 13:19Later,
- 13:20I'm sure you can probably extend your
- 13:22stay.
- 13:22That's usually a lot easier.
- 13:23But, like,
- 13:25you can't go backwards in time and say,
- 13:27I want to start earlier.
- 13:31Right.
- 13:32Hotels do not let you adjust your booking.
- 13:34Not generally speaking.
- 13:36Right.
- 13:38And I saw, Grant,
- 13:39what you said you paid.
- 13:41I got mine cheaper than that.
- 13:45um but anyway i wanted to adjust
- 13:48completely and make sure i was there for
- 13:50all the masters and just part of the
- 13:52elite and come home and cover the rest
- 13:55from here do the show from here on
- 13:57sunday night yeah but i don't i don't
- 14:01even think that's going to be possible
- 14:06With the hotel and the flights and
- 14:08everything.
- 14:12So anyway, also,
- 14:14we learned last night that they're going
- 14:15back to the pool.
- 14:16Yeah, we did.
- 14:20And I think that that wording is very
- 14:22important.
- 14:22They're back to the pool.
- 14:23They didn't say we're swimming back to the
- 14:27pool.
- 14:28There's not going to be an ocean swim,
- 14:29which we didn't think there would be.
- 14:31We didn't think there would be anyway.
- 14:33I'm still waiting.
- 14:35I haven't seen it yet.
- 14:36I haven't looked back at the post again
- 14:38today yet,
- 14:38but I'm still waiting for all the boo
- 14:40birds to come out and swim.
- 14:42Because it's going to come.
- 14:46The fact that I haven't seen it yet
- 14:47is miraculous.
- 14:49I think it's awesome.
- 14:51I do too.
- 14:52I am one hundred percent behind it,
- 14:54but I just know how people are.
- 14:56We've had this discussion a million times
- 14:59about people that love to bitch about
- 15:01nothing.
- 15:02Need to have something to complain about.
- 15:05i'm waiting for people to come back and
- 15:07say and just and throw out lazar's name
- 15:10just because get back in the waters bro
- 15:18let it go it's it's if they're going
- 15:21to the same one they did before it's
- 15:23a twenty five yard pool maybe only five
- 15:25yard pool yeah like come on
- 15:29It's a twenty-five yard pool.
- 15:31You only need a couple lifeguards and
- 15:33you're good.
- 15:34And they'll have them.
- 15:36They're going to be there.
- 15:37It's a pretty large part of the facility
- 15:39at that point.
- 15:39It's not like a random lake in the
- 15:40middle of Texas.
- 15:43And you can probably touch the bottom in
- 15:48a third of it.
- 15:49I'm certain.
- 15:52So...
- 15:55Yeah, Lucy Campbell ain't crying.
- 15:56No,
- 15:57there's a bunch of them that's not crying.
- 15:59Yeah, Ty Jones is not crying.
- 16:01I saw somebody said Pat Belner was going
- 16:05and looking at his video and saying they
- 16:07needed reviews now because we're going to
- 16:09be swimming.
- 16:11Here's the thing, though.
- 16:12It's one of twenty now.
- 16:15It will have less impact on the overall
- 16:18score than any time swimming has been
- 16:21around.
- 16:22I am super curious as to what they're
- 16:23going to do because there's been several
- 16:24pool events that they could pull from or
- 16:28if it's going to be something completely
- 16:29different.
- 16:30Yeah.
- 16:32I mean,
- 16:32winter's in here talking about the bar
- 16:34muscle-up swim event.
- 16:36I don't think they're doing that one
- 16:37again.
- 16:39I actually prefer the echo bike slam ball.
- 16:45GSD.
- 16:46Yeah.
- 16:47Yeah, that was fun.
- 16:50That was actually, I enjoyed that more.
- 16:55But that's me.
- 16:57I love watching swimming.
- 16:59I love critiquing the swimming.
- 17:03Because that's my jam.
- 17:05Yeah.
- 17:06I love watching the swimming and
- 17:07pretending like I know what's going on.
- 17:09Yeah, and I've seen you swim, so...
- 17:14I'm about to start swimming again.
- 17:16Probably this week.
- 17:17I got to get some...
- 17:19I got to get some more time,
- 17:20get some time in the water before I
- 17:22hit the Kansas.
- 17:22So yeah.
- 17:25Uh,
- 17:26winter also love that one would be sick
- 17:27with a bigger field.
- 17:30Yeah.
- 17:30Cause it was fun to watch do with
- 17:32just the five of them.
- 17:34So like with a,
- 17:34with a bigger field and a lot more,
- 17:36you know, separation,
- 17:38a lot more stuff going on.
- 17:40think it'd be cool to be fair winter
- 17:43i love to swim and since you know
- 17:46brandon's been putting it in and whatnot
- 17:47and i've had to train for because i've
- 17:49had to swim at a couple different places
- 17:52it's fun to do hundred percent um but
- 17:56i still have absolutely no idea i started
- 17:58watching people swim and trying to like oh
- 18:00look at his stroke whatever no i don't
- 18:06uh asked or serve uh they could do
- 18:08some olympic high diving at the pool if
- 18:11you've seen the pool no yeah not so
- 18:15much not so much probably a terrible idea
- 18:18and with a pool this size you'd need
- 18:20a diving well separate that is much deeper
- 18:25way deeper i love to float on a
- 18:30floaty in the pool
- 18:33I grew up around water.
- 18:35I've been swimming since I was probably
- 18:36five or six years old.
- 18:38Um,
- 18:38just not ever competitively until here
- 18:42recently.
- 18:43So it's been kind of figuring out as
- 18:44we go and look,
- 18:47it was my best event at legends last
- 18:49year.
- 18:50So my,
- 18:53my biggest dream of dreams is if Pat
- 18:57Vellner shows up with water wings on,
- 18:59that would be amazing.
- 19:02It would be amazing.
- 19:04I'm telling you,
- 19:04I literally chuckled out loud.
- 19:06Jennifer had to ask me what I was
- 19:06laughing at last night when I saw that
- 19:08comment.
- 19:08That's it.
- 19:08Somebody said it.
- 19:10Pat Belner was now furiously just
- 19:12downvoting his own record.
- 19:13Please check my video.
- 19:14Please check my video.
- 19:15Please check my video.
- 19:19Think about the judging complaints if they
- 19:21had diving.
- 19:25I know that's a joke.
- 19:26That is a joke from Andrew because there's
- 19:29always bitching about judged events at the
- 19:30Olympics.
- 19:32Diving being one of them, ice skating,
- 19:35all those.
- 19:36The German judge.
- 19:40Kenneth is trying to get us off the
- 19:42rails.
- 19:43Have you seen the lazy river that Costco
- 19:45is selling?
- 19:46I'm sorry, what?
- 19:49It is a blow-up lazy river that you
- 19:52can put in your backyard.
- 19:54Get out.
- 19:55I don't even think my backyard is big
- 19:56enough to hold it.
- 19:59But it is an inflatable lazy river.
- 20:03So my backyard... While you react to that,
- 20:05I'm going to try to find it.
- 20:06Yeah, my backyard is right back here.
- 20:08And we have a...
- 20:11There's a pond right behind it, right?
- 20:14So it kind of slopes downward.
- 20:17So a lazy river,
- 20:18an inflatable lazy river wouldn't do me a
- 20:19whole lot of good because it wouldn't be
- 20:20on a flat surface.
- 20:21I would not be able to make it
- 20:22back.
- 20:22You could do half of it and start
- 20:25up here and float around and kind of...
- 20:29Yeah.
- 20:29See, Mark's got the same problem.
- 20:31I do that.
- 20:33I got a twelve degree slope back there.
- 20:35Oh, yeah.
- 20:37That would be it'd be rough at the
- 20:40least.
- 20:40It'd be rough.
- 20:42Dude.
- 20:45A thousand dollars.
- 20:48You have a hundred foot lazy river pool
- 20:51system.
- 20:52My wife would flip.
- 20:55I'm going to send her that in a
- 20:56little bit.
- 20:57One of her favorite things to do is
- 20:58a lazy river.
- 20:59Like I just sit and float and don't
- 21:01have to like,
- 21:03like she don't want to do water slides,
- 21:05none of the other good shit,
- 21:06but like she would sit and float around
- 21:09in a lazy river at any given point
- 21:10in the day.
- 21:13That's amazing.
- 21:16What I would,
- 21:18what happened to me is I would get
- 21:19stuck back here in the cul-de-sac.
- 21:22I see that.
- 21:24Well, yeah,
- 21:25back here in the other area and just.
- 21:27Scott, you coming out?
- 21:28I'll get out in a minute.
- 21:29It's fine.
- 21:30Yeah, like I'd get stuck back here.
- 21:32It doesn't show my pointer, but okay.
- 21:35How... A thousand dollars.
- 21:39Then how much is that?
- 21:40Nine, nine, nine, nine, nine?
- 21:43Nine, ninety-nine, ninety-nine.
- 21:45Dude.
- 21:47And it's like, what, three feet deep?
- 21:50Yeah,
- 21:50lazy rivers aren't much more than three
- 21:52feet, are they?
- 21:53Not at all.
- 21:54You don't need that.
- 21:55You don't need any more than that.
- 21:57i just sent that to my mom for
- 21:59a cabin i mean i imagine with two
- 22:01hundred feet of it you got to have
- 22:02a pretty substantial backyard but that's
- 22:07amazing uh oh my god i want that
- 22:14and judy lived like around the corner from
- 22:15you aren't y'all in the suburbs i don't
- 22:17think that's gonna she she lives in
- 22:18ostrander and i don't ostrander may be the
- 22:22only part in ohio that's not flat
- 22:28I was telling somebody about it.
- 22:29We were talking about flat something the
- 22:30other day.
- 22:31Who was I talking to?
- 22:33Oh, the lady I closed business with.
- 22:35We did basic training in the same place
- 22:37in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
- 22:40And I said,
- 22:41running up to one hill on the entire
- 22:43base.
- 22:44Like, there's one hill on the entire base.
- 22:45And when you go off a PT,
- 22:47you get to run the hill.
- 22:48And then not everybody's at the top at
- 22:50the same time.
- 22:50You get to run back down,
- 22:52pick up the slow people,
- 22:53and take off again.
- 22:55So yeah, no, I understand that.
- 22:56Dude, that's amazing.
- 23:02Imagine how long it would take to fill.
- 23:06You'd almost have to bring in a water
- 23:07truck to fill it.
- 23:10Oh, it would take some time.
- 23:13It would one hundred percent take some
- 23:15time.
- 23:15I am.
- 23:16I'm Googling it right now because I need
- 23:18to send it to Costco.
- 23:21Why does Sean have to worry,
- 23:23mess up the fun?
- 23:26Apparently it's an AI generated joke.
- 23:30Come on.
- 23:30It's the second thing that comes up.
- 23:34It's the second thing that comes up on
- 23:35if you Google Costco.
- 23:40My first one for me was Costco Lafayette,
- 23:43Louisiana,
- 23:43which is there's a Costco in Lafayette.
- 23:45And the second thing is Costco Lazy River.
- 23:47Yeah, it's fake.
- 23:50God dog it.
- 23:54But now that people know it's possible.
- 23:58Huh?
- 23:58Huh?
- 24:00Let's see who the first person to come
- 24:03up with it for real is.
- 24:04I'm just saying it's a thing that could
- 24:06be in above ground lazy river.
- 24:09They make above ground foods all day long.
- 24:12All this is is a different shape.
- 24:16This is a million dollar idea.
- 24:17I was military police at Fort Leonard
- 24:19Wood.
- 24:20Lost in the woods, baby.
- 24:25Coming to a store near you next year.
- 24:27You better believe it.
- 24:29You had better believe it.
- 24:30That's amazing.
- 24:31When my daughter was young,
- 24:32we had the blow up water slide.
- 24:36Like, and it,
- 24:38it took up about half of my backyard.
- 24:40Oh yeah.
- 24:42And it had the big slide.
- 24:44It had like a shoot through slide and
- 24:47then it had like a wading pool all
- 24:49around it.
- 24:50Yeah.
- 24:51Uh, one of my best friends,
- 24:53this little girl just turned two and, uh,
- 24:57They got one for two-year-old people's
- 24:59size, but it's substantial.
- 25:02It's got a slide.
- 25:03It's got a little area you can climb
- 25:05up.
- 25:05Same thing.
- 25:07It's pretty cool.
- 25:07All right.
- 25:10I've about had enough.
- 25:13Just joining the conversation,
- 25:14who's the new handsome fellow with you
- 25:16today, Scott?
- 25:17Sunday night, I get, oh,
- 25:19look at Jamie's big arms.
- 25:21Look at Jamie's big arms.
- 25:22I mean, Jamie's got more big, dude.
- 25:24Carolyn's so pretty and so athletic.
- 25:26I get nothing.
- 25:27Now on the lunch show, oh,
- 25:29who's the GQ model next to Scott?
- 25:32Who's the handsome fellow next to Scott?
- 25:35I'm just sitting here getting squad-oosh.
- 25:40Scott, who's that guy?
- 25:41What do you mean, who's that guy?
- 25:44The same guy.
- 25:46I literally got a haircut like two hours
- 25:50ago, three hours ago, two hours ago.
- 25:54I'm in the lab working my ass off.
- 25:58You know, and nothing.
- 26:01Squad douche.
- 26:02Paying the singers.
- 26:03Bringing shirts to the people.
- 26:05It's a cry chain.
- 26:10We use trash bags and a sprinkler.
- 26:12Yeah, us too, Ken.
- 26:13We couldn't afford the real slip and
- 26:15slide.
- 26:15But here's the deal with the slip and
- 26:17slide.
- 26:19It had to be invented by a woman.
- 26:22Okay, here we go.
- 26:25Here we go.
- 26:26Because there is no safe way to run
- 26:29and dive on a slip and slide if
- 26:30you are a male.
- 26:32Facts.
- 26:34And not be hurting for half the day.
- 26:36Facts.
- 26:39Facts.
- 26:39Like you have to do a real good
- 26:40baseball slide and not.
- 26:45Unless you can do it on your butt.
- 26:47Yeah.
- 26:48And you are older than twelve.
- 26:52There is no way you can dive on
- 26:54a slip and slide.
- 26:57Or you got to do some tuck shit
- 26:59that I don't even know about.
- 27:01Nope.
- 27:02And compression shorts didn't exist back
- 27:04then.
- 27:04So bicycle shorts with tear quick,
- 27:08fast and hurry,
- 27:09which you weren't wearing to go slip and
- 27:10slide anywhere.
- 27:13Oh man.
- 27:15It's not safe for females either.
- 27:16Okay.
- 27:18Okay.
- 27:19Go up one more when it's got you
- 27:22back.
- 27:23Oh.
- 27:24Corey,
- 27:24who's that guy with you with the extra
- 27:26clean garage?
- 27:36This is what happens, y'all.
- 27:37If you go like a month and a
- 27:38half, basically,
- 27:40or a full month without a haircut,
- 27:42and you go get one,
- 27:42you don't look like a caveman anymore.
- 27:44It's amazing how that works.
- 27:47ain't no man killing his grass with that
- 27:49thing.
- 27:50True.
- 27:50Every time Jennifer's like,
- 27:55because Jameson and Brody are four days
- 27:57apart.
- 27:57Their birthdays are four days apart.
- 27:59And so they never get to do like
- 28:00slip and slide stuff because it's in
- 28:01November and it's usually cold enough
- 28:03around here and then that you don't want
- 28:05to get on a slip and slide, like,
- 28:06you know, rent one or whatnot.
- 28:08She wants to get one for the backyard
- 28:09for like before school starts for her.
- 28:12And I'm like, dude, can we not?
- 28:14Like, if we're going to do that,
- 28:17at the very least let's get one of
- 28:18they come set up and then haul away
- 28:22because that way it's not there for an
- 28:23extended period of time for that reason
- 28:26mark phillips killing my freaking grass uh
- 28:31the dive is easy landing is orthopedic
- 28:33calamity it's uh it's less than ideal it's
- 28:39not so much the fall it's the landing
- 28:41correct you can be as controlled as you
- 28:44want to
- 28:45Corey,
- 28:45who's that guy with you with the sultry
- 28:46voice?
- 28:47I don't know.
- 28:48All right.
- 28:48Now we're getting better.
- 28:50Yeah.
- 28:50That smooth baritone.
- 28:52That is Scott Sweitzer,
- 28:53ladies and gentlemen,
- 28:54coming at you on the ones and twos.
- 28:59How's life out there on the five or
- 29:01five?
- 29:05When we lived in Florida,
- 29:07we had like a patio and my wife
- 29:09worked what was supposed to be four nines
- 29:13and a four.
- 29:15It became more like tens and a four.
- 29:20But she would get off work at like
- 29:21eleven a.m.
- 29:22on a Friday and I worked the rest
- 29:24of the day.
- 29:25I would come home to her in a
- 29:27baby pool on the patio with a little
- 29:31mini hibachi grill beside her and a
- 29:34pitcher of margaritas.
- 29:37And that's where she had been for the
- 29:39last four hours.
- 29:42We had a picture of me and
- 29:45And it might be the last beer I
- 29:46drank that I can remember actually
- 29:47drinking.
- 29:48But out here on the back,
- 29:49my little back patio area,
- 29:51sitting in the kiddie pool with Jameson,
- 29:54drinking a beer,
- 29:55letting her splash around in the water.
- 29:57She probably was two years old,
- 29:58three years old, something like that.
- 30:02But it was on the concrete.
- 30:03It wasn't in the grass.
- 30:04Right.
- 30:05You ain't killing all my grass there.
- 30:09I was renting in Florida to kill the
- 30:11grass.
- 30:11I don't care.
- 30:12Yeah, well, understandable.
- 30:14My only problem was to put this green
- 30:15down over the entire front yard
- 30:17specifically to kill all the grass so he
- 30:19had to cut it no more.
- 30:21She would sit there turning hot dogs on
- 30:23the grill with a little long fork.
- 30:29And her pitcher, Marguerite.
- 30:30And she would just drink right from the
- 30:32pitcher.
- 30:33As you do.
- 30:36Yeah.
- 30:39I was listening to WOD Prep this morning
- 30:41with CJ and Claire.
- 30:44And it just,
- 30:47it made me think about a lot of
- 30:48things.
- 30:49And I mean,
- 30:51CJ made a lot of good points.
- 30:53If you have not listened to it,
- 30:54it's actually pretty good about like,
- 30:57and I think life is like this.
- 30:59The thing you want is really expensive.
- 31:03The thing you can afford is not real
- 31:05fun.
- 31:06And you got to find something in the
- 31:08middle.
- 31:08Like you want the Mercedes,
- 31:11you can afford the Honda Accord,
- 31:14but maybe you can stretch and get
- 31:16something in the middle.
- 31:16Yeah.
- 31:18And that's really the CrossFit game
- 31:20season.
- 31:21What we want, the Mercedes,
- 31:24is the regionals back.
- 31:25Right.
- 31:27But none of us can afford it.
- 31:31What we can afford is online.
- 31:37Which unfortunately is not ideal.
- 31:39So that's the Honda Accord.
- 31:43Right.
- 31:43And you're going to have some backfiring.
- 31:45You're going to have some oil issues.
- 31:49All that stuff, right?
- 31:51It's not going to be as comfortable.
- 31:53Like the backseat of a Volkswagen?
- 31:55Yeah.
- 31:56And they've tried to do something in
- 31:57between and it's always fallen short
- 32:00because you're never going to get to the
- 32:02Mercedes again.
- 32:03It's not going to happen.
- 32:05You just can't afford it.
- 32:09So you're looking for the Teemu version of
- 32:11the Mercedes somewhere in the middle and
- 32:15whatever, whatever it is in the middle,
- 32:17it's always going to be the Teemu version.
- 32:22But you got to learn to accept it
- 32:24because it's what we have.
- 32:27And you also got to be willing to
- 32:29put in the work to make it the
- 32:30best possible version of what we can
- 32:32afford.
- 32:34Right.
- 32:35That's not just on us.
- 32:35That's on the people who's actually
- 32:37putting it out there.
- 32:38When it's also on us in a way
- 32:41like you put after I came back from
- 32:44syndicate and you said all these people
- 32:46bitching in the comments about nobody
- 32:47being in the stands,
- 32:49but they're at home watching and they're
- 32:51not in the stands.
- 32:53If you don't go support the live stuff,
- 32:56it's going to go away.
- 32:59It's the law of supply and demand.
- 33:03Economics one-on-one.
- 33:05And so if you sit at home and
- 33:07watch on the stream all the time and
- 33:09never go to at least one semi a
- 33:11year,
- 33:13you're contributing to the decline of
- 33:16where we're going with this.
- 33:19I went to one.
- 33:21granted masters only,
- 33:22but I also had four people come for,
- 33:24three people come with me.
- 33:27And that wasn't just me though.
- 33:28Like most of the people that were there
- 33:29had at least two, three,
- 33:31four people with them.
- 33:31Very few people went by themselves.
- 33:36And I didn't bitch about it.
- 33:40As a matter of fact,
- 33:41I had nothing but good things to say
- 33:42about it.
- 33:44And I was there,
- 33:45and I will still vehemently defend it to
- 33:48people that were like, I mean,
- 33:50the stream looks like,
- 33:51I don't give a damn what the stream
- 33:53looks like.
- 33:53I was there, and I can tell you,
- 33:55there were people there, a lot of them.
- 34:01The place was huge.
- 34:02And you know,
- 34:03all you can do about it too,
- 34:04it was filled up to the best of
- 34:06their abilities.
- 34:08But I mean, what you gonna do?
- 34:11The other thing that the stream doesn't
- 34:13allow you to see is people come in
- 34:15and out of the venue throughout the day.
- 34:18All day long.
- 34:20So, yeah, at any one moment,
- 34:22it's not completely jam-packed.
- 34:25But people are going to get food.
- 34:27People are going to get drinks.
- 34:29People are going to the bathroom.
- 34:31People are going to take naps and come
- 34:33back later.
- 34:34Or they're going out to get some sun
- 34:37so that they're not like inside all damn
- 34:39day.
- 34:39Absolutely.
- 34:43And Mark makes a point.
- 34:47Gosh, you guys are chatting heavy today.
- 34:49I love that.
- 34:52He said,
- 34:53my other argument about looking for other
- 34:55revenue streams, right?
- 34:57Well, that's a fact.
- 34:58But if the attendance doesn't start
- 35:01growing,
- 35:04you're still not going to hold the events.
- 35:07If a tree falls in the wood,
- 35:09nobody's there to hear it.
- 35:10Does it make a sound?
- 35:15maybe so if you hold an event and
- 35:18nobody comes to see it what's the point
- 35:21in holding the event right you can't just
- 35:25there's only so long you can just throw
- 35:27money away especially if it's your money
- 35:32now granted the regional days there are a
- 35:33lot more people in the stands at least
- 35:36the regional i'm a part of and i
- 35:38would go to yeah
- 35:45Avera says, Scott, not sure you noticed,
- 35:47but Americans are struggling financially
- 35:49going live CrossFit events.
- 35:51It's not even possible for many of the
- 35:53few who could actually enjoy going.
- 35:55I will, I guess I've noticed,
- 35:58by the way.
- 36:00Yeah.
- 36:02But the other thing is,
- 36:04the ticket prices are ridiculously high.
- 36:08And that is beyond what it should be.
- 36:14And that's not just the games.
- 36:15That's the games.
- 36:16That's the semifinal events.
- 36:17That's all of it.
- 36:20For the Masters games to charge nearly
- 36:23three hundred dollars for the weekend or
- 36:26for the it's not even the weekend midweek.
- 36:29Yeah.
- 36:29When you have shown no history of
- 36:32attracting people to your event.
- 36:36Is utterly ridiculous.
- 36:41Absolutely, fully, totally,
- 36:43utterly ridiculous.
- 36:46They're talking in here about to go see
- 36:48the Wednesday event,
- 36:49you have to buy the RX Plus ticket.
- 36:52The RX Plus ticket is an additional three
- 36:54hundred dollars a day.
- 36:56Per person.
- 36:58Per person.
- 37:00On tickets that you've already spent eight
- 37:02hundred dollars to get into the arena.
- 37:06So now you're talking eleven hundred
- 37:08dollars for one person.
- 37:13If you bought the RX Plus for every
- 37:15day.
- 37:18I couldn't do that.
- 37:20I'll tell you, I couldn't do that.
- 37:21There's no way.
- 37:25No way.
- 37:27There, there is this,
- 37:29and hopefully Bruce comes in and make some
- 37:32changes that make some sense,
- 37:34but what they're charging for this stuff
- 37:38and only getting a couple thousand people
- 37:40in the building should be giving them a
- 37:43clue that
- 37:44that if we drop the price,
- 37:46maybe we double or triple the amount of
- 37:49people that show.
- 37:51Especially at the games.
- 37:54There was a dude,
- 37:55and this was probably in the eighties,
- 37:57and I can't remember his name to save
- 37:59my life.
- 38:00I want to say he's a Middle Eastern
- 38:03dude.
- 38:04Walked into the Mercedes dealership and
- 38:07tried to buy it.
- 38:09And they laughed him out of the building.
- 38:11Went back,
- 38:12walked up to a Porsche dealership,
- 38:14And they actually listened to him.
- 38:17He bought it.
- 38:17There was a bunch of old nine four
- 38:19four sitting on the lot and he sold
- 38:20them at fire sale prices.
- 38:23Like everything must go type of deal.
- 38:28And they didn't make a whole lot of
- 38:29money per car,
- 38:30but got all the inventory out and got
- 38:32new inventory and got new inventory out.
- 38:36Same concept, right?
- 38:37Get asses in the seats.
- 38:39The more you get in the seats,
- 38:41the better it's going to look.
- 38:42If you want them more in there,
- 38:45you can't say, oh,
- 38:46here's an extra three hundred dollars per
- 38:48person.
- 38:50Three hundred dollars per person.
- 38:52If just me and my wife went,
- 38:53that's six hundred bucks for that day.
- 38:57No, dude, I'm not doing that.
- 39:00I'm just not.
- 39:01I can't.
- 39:03They need to break out their econ
- 39:04one-on-one books and do a little review.
- 39:07Exactly.
- 39:08And Jason Bowen's right.
- 39:09Like you just signed to be a volunteer.
- 39:13I will tell you though,
- 39:14if you show up to volunteer,
- 39:16you are going to be working your ass
- 39:17off.
- 39:18They, they,
- 39:20they put you to work when you show
- 39:22up to volunteer.
- 39:23I've done it.
- 39:24I've done it at the games.
- 39:25I've done it at the regionals.
- 39:27I've done it at semi finals.
- 39:28It is a job.
- 39:30Yeah.
- 39:32only thing i'll say to benita about this
- 39:34uh i'm not sure how many international
- 39:36people usually attend the games but a lot
- 39:38of us are not keen to travel to
- 39:40the states right now ask the people who
- 39:42have come from the work for the world
- 39:44cup they are having a ball it's my
- 39:46favorite content on the on the internet
- 39:48right now is people here for the world
- 39:50cup discovered like the japanese people at
- 39:54the barbecue place
- 39:56the Scots in freaking Boston.
- 40:00That's been amazing.
- 40:01And just the random people just walking
- 40:03around like these are the nicest people
- 40:04I've ever met in my entire life.
- 40:06People are genuinely interested in what
- 40:09we're doing and whatnot.
- 40:10It's my favorite content on the planet
- 40:13right now.
- 40:13Yeah,
- 40:13and they said it's not at all what's
- 40:16being portrayed overseas.
- 40:19And I love that fact.
- 40:20This is my home country.
- 40:21I love this country.
- 40:23And
- 40:25every country has its issues, right?
- 40:28But the fact that these world cup visitors
- 40:31are saying how awesome it is being here
- 40:33is really cool.
- 40:34Yeah.
- 40:37Um,
- 40:39people in the seats by more vendor
- 40:41products, more vendors want to come,
- 40:42et cetera.
- 40:43Yes, yes, yes.
- 40:44I have preached that for a year and
- 40:46a half.
- 40:47It's basic economics.
- 40:51It's basic economics.
- 40:53More people equals more people looking at
- 40:55your stuff equals more people spending
- 40:57money because they think your stuff is
- 40:58cool.
- 40:59Especially if they're having a good time.
- 41:04If you're paying for an extra,
- 41:06what am I getting for that extra three
- 41:08hundred dollars per person?
- 41:10I get to go see the offsite events?
- 41:12Is that it?
- 41:14You probably don't even get a seat.
- 41:16Right.
- 41:17So I get to go stand.
- 41:17You get to go stand and watch.
- 41:19And I have to probably make my own
- 41:21way there.
- 41:23Oh, for sure.
- 41:25So it's not just the extra three hundred
- 41:26dollars.
- 41:27Would you get to watch it all as
- 41:28a volunteer?
- 41:29So I don't know the current format.
- 41:33The last time I volunteered,
- 41:34it was at Madison.
- 41:36I was on a team that did North
- 41:38Park.
- 41:41All the events at North Park,
- 41:43I got a firsthand view of.
- 41:46of the action like and close it was
- 41:51awesome we were working when they were in
- 41:54the arena until the final day the final
- 41:59day they let us come in to what
- 42:01was the media pit at the time and
- 42:04watch from there
- 42:08Otherwise,
- 42:08you had to watch on a Jumbotron,
- 42:10which was hanging in the middle of the
- 42:12parking lot, made into a festival area.
- 42:17They had a big Jumbotron.
- 42:18You could watch the action while you were
- 42:20working on North Park.
- 42:24So yeah, you could watch,
- 42:27but it's not going to be the experience
- 42:29of hanging out in the arena and being
- 42:33a part of it.
- 42:33You're not going to have a seat.
- 42:35But I met amazing people doing it.
- 42:39And you're probably going to have to be
- 42:40on some sort of clock because they're
- 42:42going to need you to come back and
- 42:43do whatever you signed up to do.
- 42:46Like, don't be that guy that signs up.
- 42:48Like, oh, yeah, I'm going to volunteer.
- 42:50And just to be able to get some
- 42:51access to the athletes and to the floor
- 42:53and whatnot.
- 42:55The RX Plus package says you get some
- 42:57free food, beer,
- 42:58and some athletes meet and greets.
- 43:00And I think access to a lounge maybe.
- 43:02I think that's like the Madison Club when
- 43:04they were in Madison.
- 43:06where you got access to all that.
- 43:08And I don't think all the food and
- 43:10stuff were free.
- 43:11It's just you had access to kind of
- 43:13your own private area.
- 43:14If it's free, all the better.
- 43:16But there's no way they're carting the
- 43:17food and the lounge out to all these
- 43:20sites they're going to.
- 43:22A minimum of three on Wednesday.
- 43:25Right.
- 43:28Just no way.
- 43:28Experience a
- 43:37So anyway, there's all that.
- 43:44I also,
- 43:45I don't even know where to go with
- 43:46this.
- 43:49They were talking also about everybody
- 43:55doing this online review and picking apart
- 43:57everything here and there.
- 44:00And I was sitting there thinking like,
- 44:05we've got to get to a point where
- 44:09There is a difference between the
- 44:11methodology and the sport.
- 44:13Absolutely.
- 44:15Right.
- 44:17The, the methodology,
- 44:18you can scale things so that everybody can
- 44:21do it.
- 44:22Right.
- 44:23Anybody can do it on the sport.
- 44:28If you can't do something,
- 44:30then you don't get to compete.
- 44:35If someone says, well, I can't lock out,
- 44:38well, sorry about your luck.
- 44:41Yes,
- 44:41he didn't get that fix and then come
- 44:42try again.
- 44:44Right.
- 44:45Or my overhead mobility doesn't allow me
- 44:48to do that move in that,
- 44:49but to standard.
- 44:51Well, sucks to be you.
- 44:53Sucks to be you.
- 44:54I don't know what to say.
- 44:55Moving right along.
- 44:56This is not three-thirty class on Friday.
- 44:59And I got into a little fight with
- 45:00Tristan because I said,
- 45:03if you can't run a sub five forty,
- 45:05you're not going to play in the NFL.
- 45:09And he's like, well, kind of different,
- 45:11but kind of the same.
- 45:14And I was using an extreme example because
- 45:17I'm a podcaster and I want to invoke
- 45:19emotion.
- 45:20That's what we do.
- 45:22The other thing is,
- 45:23it just illustrates that to be a pro
- 45:27in something,
- 45:29you have to be the elite of the
- 45:30elite.
- 45:32There is no modification.
- 45:34There is no scale.
- 45:37Nope.
- 45:39You need to be snatching two hundred and
- 45:40seventy five to two hundred ninety five
- 45:42pounds plus.
- 45:43You need to be able to clean and
- 45:44jerk three sixty five and over like every
- 45:48day, not just once in a blue moon.
- 45:51You need to be able to run somewhere
- 45:53in the middle of a five ish.
- 45:55He was summoned by there's a there's a
- 45:58litany of things that you should have
- 46:00under your belt if you think you're going
- 46:01to be a CrossFit Games athlete.
- 46:05And if you're going to try to make
- 46:06a living off of it,
- 46:07then you definitely need to have something
- 46:09that are checked off of the list there.
- 46:13Don't come in here denying everything,
- 46:15Tristan.
- 46:15I watched what you wrote.
- 46:17I knew what you said.
- 46:21I took what you said,
- 46:23I inflamed it to create reaction,
- 46:26but to have a discussion about what the
- 46:29online review said.
- 46:30What he actually said was,
- 46:32if people don't have the body type to
- 46:35be able to do the thing to standard,
- 46:39when you're doing online review,
- 46:40you don't even know that.
- 46:43Right.
- 46:43Right.
- 46:44When you're doing an in-person competition
- 46:46and you talk to the judge, well,
- 46:48I have this thing where I can't do...
- 46:51You don't get to do that on online
- 46:52review.
- 46:53This is what locked out looks like.
- 46:54I've had,
- 46:56I know people that they get what they
- 46:58judge every single time.
- 46:59Hey, look,
- 46:59this is what locked out looks like.
- 47:01This is, I can't like,
- 47:02you can push on it.
- 47:03You can do whatever you want.
- 47:04That's where it's going to end up.
- 47:09If someone has long ass femurs and busted
- 47:12their ankles playing soccer and can't
- 47:13squat below parallel,
- 47:15you can't do the open then.
- 47:17Yes.
- 47:19Well, you can.
- 47:21you're gonna do you can't do it
- 47:22competitively you're gonna do the
- 47:24foundations version or whatever version it
- 47:26is that you can do you absolutely can
- 47:29still do the open but don't expect to
- 47:31find yourself at the crossfit games at the
- 47:33end of it uh yes vicky he fell
- 47:40into the trap failed victim to the classic
- 47:43blunder and most fans that's what we do
- 47:46we have things to talk about for five
- 47:49days a week
- 47:51So if you say something online, Tristan,
- 47:52I may grab it and I may twist
- 47:55it to what I want to talk about.
- 47:59It got you to jump in the chat,
- 48:00Tristan, if nothing else.
- 48:05You can do foundations.
- 48:06You can do scaled if you can do
- 48:08it to that standard.
- 48:10If you look at this stuff for foundations
- 48:11this year, it basically said,
- 48:13just go ahead and make up your own
- 48:15workout.
- 48:18It really, really does.
- 48:21And what Andrew was saying up there,
- 48:22that sometimes we do that for the Masters
- 48:24too much is one hundred percent correct.
- 48:28Right.
- 48:29Because I think we're.
- 48:31We're afraid we're going to piss people
- 48:33off and they're not going to sign up
- 48:34and then we're only going to have one
- 48:36hundred thousand people sign up for the
- 48:37open the next year.
- 48:39Yeah.
- 48:40There's all this fear of like what's going
- 48:42to happen if.
- 48:46And we're on this like fine razor's edge
- 48:49of, is it going to survive or not?
- 48:54And everybody's worried about pissing
- 48:56people off.
- 48:57And that is so counter to what created
- 49:00CrossFit.
- 49:01CrossFit was created to piss people off.
- 49:08And it's,
- 49:09I was having this discussion with Grant
- 49:11this morning and hopefully he doesn't mind
- 49:13me sharing,
- 49:14but
- 49:16They publicly say,
- 49:19CrossFit HQ publicly says that they review
- 49:22all semifinal workouts and approve them.
- 49:27But at the end of the day,
- 49:30but at the end of the day,
- 49:32they don't want to piss off these people
- 49:35that are funding their semifinal season.
- 49:39So is it truly a real review?
- 49:42And I don't think it's malicious from
- 49:43CrossFit.
- 49:45I think it's just that we're on this
- 49:48razor's edge of having somebody else pay
- 49:50for that.
- 49:52And so we don't want to piss them
- 49:53off.
- 49:54So, okay, throw it on damper.
- 50:04Right.
- 50:04Well, you know,
- 50:05you're not yet a hundred percent.
- 50:08Let them figure it out.
- 50:09That, uh, what was it?
- 50:11Emily Rethwell was just,
- 50:14Yes.
- 50:15Off the platform and was just yanking on
- 50:17the lane and throwing all her body weight
- 50:19onto it because of that.
- 50:20And I'm only using that example because
- 50:22that is what Dave used in his interview
- 50:24with Austin.
- 50:27That was brought up to them, to Boz.
- 50:30Boz brought it to Dave.
- 50:32And Dave and Boz said, well,
- 50:34let's see how it goes.
- 50:38If Dave was looking at his own
- 50:40programming,
- 50:41there's no way he would say the phrase,
- 50:43let's see how it goes.
- 50:46Not for an event.
- 50:47If it was in testing, yeah,
- 50:49a hundred percent.
- 50:49Right.
- 50:50That's a whole different.
- 50:51But not to like,
- 50:53see how it goes live at the event.
- 50:55Well, let's see how it goes.
- 50:57After the first, the first heat goes,
- 50:59then maybe if we have to make an
- 51:00adjustment, we'll make an adjustment.
- 51:02That way they'll scores will be different
- 51:03than the first people scores.
- 51:05Like that's insane.
- 51:06Yeah.
- 51:10I think with movement standards and event
- 51:15organizers and event events,
- 51:20we are just not trying to piss people
- 51:22off.
- 51:25Which is no way to travel through life
- 51:27in general and definitely no way to run
- 51:31events and doing the things that we're
- 51:33doing to try to find a fitness owner.
- 51:35And all of that...
- 51:37is creating a product that is harder and
- 51:40harder to watch and harder and harder to
- 51:45move forward.
- 51:49Because life comes with tough decisions.
- 51:53Every single day.
- 51:54I mean, there are books upon books.
- 51:57I don't read them,
- 51:59but there are books upon books about
- 52:01having critical conversations.
- 52:03Scott's heard about books upon books about
- 52:06having more conversation.
- 52:09People don't like them.
- 52:13But you have to have them.
- 52:14Hey, you preach to the choir right here.
- 52:17They're all pot, meat, kettle.
- 52:21There's a whole book.
- 52:23An entire book called The Comfort Crisis
- 52:27that is about exactly what we're talking
- 52:29about, about people not wanting,
- 52:31they just want it soft and make it
- 52:33okay.
- 52:34Dude, no.
- 52:36Sometimes it needs to be difficult.
- 52:39The entire thing of what we do is
- 52:41based around doing hard things,
- 52:43things that other people do not do,
- 52:46will not do because they don't want it,
- 52:50they want it easy.
- 52:50They want the easy way out.
- 52:52avera says i play in a men's golf
- 52:54leg and it pisses me off the pga
- 52:55won't let me play in their events i
- 52:57should be playing right now at shinnecock
- 53:00and all i can think of is uh
- 53:04beavis and butthead going hey he said i
- 53:13feel like you just made that up it's
- 53:15a it is a real golf course i
- 53:18know nothing about golf so
- 53:21Well,
- 53:22here's what I – here's what I –
- 53:27yes, I am done with books, Omar.
- 53:28Totally.
- 53:32I said they're out there.
- 53:32I didn't say I read them.
- 53:33Correct.
- 53:35Very specific.
- 53:36Very specific about that.
- 53:39What I do want to say is there's
- 53:41also this fear that you're not going to
- 53:43get the fittest to the games to compete.
- 53:47You, as a league,
- 53:48you don't get to say who comes to
- 53:50the championship.
- 53:53the the performance on the field is what
- 53:56gets you to the championship and if you
- 53:58don't make it through that gauntlet
- 54:01because you had the flu on one day
- 54:03well so be it it just is what
- 54:05it is i i think this was on
- 54:09girls interrupted i made the comment i
- 54:11don't maybe it was with i don't know
- 54:15i watched so much content because i was
- 54:16here by myself last night right i'm
- 54:20confused but
- 54:22Why is Brooke Entz and Josh Bridges Road
- 54:27to the Games the most watched Road to
- 54:29the Games ever?
- 54:31Because they didn't make it.
- 54:33Yeah.
- 54:35Because that was a story.
- 54:37And everybody was there to see the
- 54:40reaction and how they handled it.
- 54:44FYI, spoiler alert,
- 54:46one handled it way better than the other
- 54:47did.
- 54:47In case you haven't watched it.
- 54:51But I bet you everybody in this chat
- 54:53has seen that road to the games.
- 54:56So why do we care if one person
- 54:59misses it?
- 55:01The games went on without Sam Briggs in
- 55:03twenty fourteen.
- 55:05The games went on without those two in
- 55:07twenty sixteen.
- 55:10And they came back.
- 55:13Like, well, not Brooke, but.
- 55:18Sam Briggs.
- 55:20made her way back to the game,
- 55:21which made even more of a story.
- 55:24Josh Bridges made it back to the games,
- 55:27which was a whole other story.
- 55:28Yeah.
- 55:29And just for you, Corey, the U.S.
- 55:36Golf Open is going on right now in
- 55:38Shinnecock, at Shinnecock, in Long Island.
- 55:44Is it in Long Island or on Long
- 55:45Island?
- 55:46Because it is an island.
- 55:47Are you on the island or are you
- 55:48in the island?
- 55:50If you're in the city,
- 55:52you're in the city, not on the city.
- 55:54Do you get in the plane or do
- 55:55you get on the plane?
- 55:58You can get on the plane.
- 55:59I'm going to get in the plane.
- 56:00How about that?
- 56:01And then we'll take off and we'll see
- 56:02who's still there whenever we get to our
- 56:04destination.
- 56:08You know,
- 56:09I'd probably know the answer to those
- 56:10questions if I read books.
- 56:12If you would actually read a book from
- 56:14time to time.
- 56:14Yeah.
- 56:15Yeah.
- 56:19I watched that episode a few days ago.
- 56:20It's my favorite.
- 56:21I watched it over the weekend again.
- 56:23It's almost everybody's favorite because
- 56:28that's what sports is about.
- 56:31Sports is about the New York Knicks were
- 56:35not supposed to win the NBA championship
- 56:37this year.
- 56:39Everybody said it was going to be someone
- 56:41from the Western Conference because it is
- 56:43much stronger.
- 56:44It wasn't.
- 56:45Everybody said the Celtics were better.
- 56:47Celtics didn't even make it to the
- 56:49championship game on their side.
- 56:51But that's what makes sports great.
- 56:56And the Celtics have the coach that gives
- 56:57the absolute best post-game interviews
- 57:00I've ever seen in my entire life.
- 57:04Is Shinnecock in the island?
- 57:08Depends on if they bought another island
- 57:09enough drinks, I guess.
- 57:13What would, and this is Long Island, so.
- 57:16Hey, hey, hey, hey.
- 57:17Doesn't take as many of those drinks.
- 57:19Saddle up, baby.
- 57:24Do you get in a Clydesdale or on
- 57:26a Clydesdale?
- 57:27Well, it depends on who you are.
- 57:28Again, yeah.
- 57:31It really depends on who you are at
- 57:32that point.
- 57:33Um,
- 57:37Watching the dynamic between her and Mars
- 57:39is just literally watching their marriage
- 57:41dissolve.
- 57:42Right in front of our face.
- 57:43Right in front of our faces.
- 57:46My heart broke for him, dude,
- 57:47because Mars is a really nice guy.
- 57:51And he just wanted to do and be
- 57:54there for you.
- 57:54You can see him trying to figure it
- 57:56out as the weekend goes,
- 57:58every time they interview him.
- 57:59Gosh, don't do that.
- 58:03So...
- 58:05Back to the inner Ana Clydesdale.
- 58:07Based on all the comments on all my
- 58:09shows,
- 58:10nobody really cares about that because
- 58:13it's more about Corey and Jamie and
- 58:15Carolyn.
- 58:17But okay, I'm not bitter.
- 58:19I'm not bitter.
- 58:21I'll just keep hitting the lab,
- 58:23doing my thing.
- 58:24And just carry your smooth baritone with
- 58:28us the rest of the time that we're
- 58:29here.
- 58:35My man, Joe,
- 58:36who is an awesome photographer and has
- 58:40worked for us in the past.
- 58:41He helped me with the Hattie doc.
- 58:43I was going through some stuff and he's
- 58:45ninety five percent better.
- 58:46And I am so glad to see that.
- 58:54The last thing I was going to talk
- 58:55about.
- 58:59Yeah, this is a lot.
- 59:01I grew up,
- 59:02I was in the eighties and nineties.
- 59:06Sure.
- 59:06ESPN SportsCenter was on my TV.
- 59:09Every morning.
- 59:11At least five hours.
- 59:13Every morning.
- 59:14When I got up, SportsCenter was on.
- 59:18Rich Eisen is doing a series called This
- 59:20Was SportsCenter.
- 59:22And he's interviewing other SportsCenter
- 59:26hosts from that era.
- 59:28Yep.
- 59:29I grew up with Rich Eisen and Stuart
- 59:31Scott being like...
- 59:32Because I was bouncing in bars and
- 59:34bartending,
- 59:35and they were on when I came home.
- 59:38Booyah!
- 59:41And so Rich is always going to have
- 59:42a special place in my heart.
- 59:45I've watched two of the four episodes.
- 59:47I've watched the Dan Patrick and I've
- 59:49watched the Linda Cohn.
- 59:50I have laughed nonstop on both of them.
- 59:54They are great watches,
- 59:56and it's probably more nostalgia...
- 59:59than straight humor, but it is... Yes,
- 1:00:04Ken.
- 1:00:06It was SportsCenter and MTV for hours,
- 1:00:08back when MTV actually played music.
- 1:00:10I was going to say, yeah.
- 1:00:12Before MTV just decided to just go full
- 1:00:16reality TV and change it to RTV.
- 1:00:19It made a whole lot more sense at
- 1:00:20that point.
- 1:00:20But yeah,
- 1:00:21when they actually played music videos and
- 1:00:24had VJs, good stuff.
- 1:00:28Martha Quinn, Nina Blackwood.
- 1:00:31Kennedy.
- 1:00:34Downtown Julie Brown.
- 1:00:35Downtown Julie Brown.
- 1:00:36What was the old dude's name?
- 1:00:37Did the news?
- 1:00:39Kurt Loder.
- 1:00:39Yep.
- 1:00:41As cool as the other side of the
- 1:00:42pillow.
- 1:00:42Good stuff, man.
- 1:00:45My favorite rich one is when someone would
- 1:00:49rob somebody of a home run and he
- 1:00:50would go, you want me on that wall?
- 1:00:52You need me on that wall.
- 1:00:58oh oh oh video killed the radio star
- 1:01:06the buggles dude we are we are old
- 1:01:09i have a don't ask me what i
- 1:01:13had for dinner last night don't ask me
- 1:01:15what i did yesterday at two o'clock in
- 1:01:17the afternoon don't ask me any like
- 1:01:20real maybe semi important pertinent
- 1:01:22questions but song lyrics from the
- 1:01:25eighties let's go and the fact that you
- 1:01:28still know that the buggles are the people
- 1:01:30who sang it yep you can't know one
- 1:01:34without the other like that's just the two
- 1:01:37things need to kind of go together yeah
- 1:01:39i uh i still have to watch mike
- 1:01:41greenberg and chris berman uh they're out
- 1:01:43too
- 1:01:46What was interesting in this episode is
- 1:01:48they were talking about how when ESPN went
- 1:01:50to the bottom line,
- 1:01:52that scrolling ticker of scores across the
- 1:01:55bottom, and how they were all pissed.
- 1:01:58Yeah,
- 1:01:59because now you're taking stuff away from
- 1:02:01us to do.
- 1:02:01Well, right.
- 1:02:03They said they would write the setups for
- 1:02:05something,
- 1:02:06and it's harder to surprise the audience
- 1:02:09when they know the outcome.
- 1:02:10Right,
- 1:02:11because it's been ticking across the
- 1:02:13bottom the entire time.
- 1:02:15And I will admit like when I,
- 1:02:16there were times when I didn't know what
- 1:02:18the score of the game was.
- 1:02:20We didn't have internet.
- 1:02:22All you had was sports center to tell
- 1:02:24you.
- 1:02:25And I would wait until that game appeared
- 1:02:29on the screen.
- 1:02:31And then when the bottom line came,
- 1:02:32if that score came up, Oh, okay.
- 1:02:34I can go to bed now.
- 1:02:35Yeah.
- 1:02:36Cool.
- 1:02:36Done.
- 1:02:40Go to sleep.
- 1:02:41Now I think we've taken the ticker to
- 1:02:42a whole new level.
- 1:02:44Um,
- 1:02:45with politics and,
- 1:02:47and votes and all of the things,
- 1:02:51whether it's everywhere.
- 1:02:55I don't need to know for two hours
- 1:02:56straight that I'm under a tornado watch.
- 1:02:58Tell me once and I get it.
- 1:02:59Hey bro.
- 1:03:01Yesterday morning, South Louisiana,
- 1:03:06within six hours, we had a tropical storm,
- 1:03:09tropical storm warning, a flood warning,
- 1:03:11a tornado warning,
- 1:03:13in a heat, yeah, flood advisory,
- 1:03:15excuse me, and in a heat,
- 1:03:19extreme heat water, within six hours.
- 1:03:21But I get all that on my phone
- 1:03:22now.
- 1:03:24I didn't know about any of it until,
- 1:03:27I literally didn't know we were having a
- 1:03:28tropical storm until it was happening.
- 1:03:32For all intents and purposes.
- 1:03:35Meg remembers watching the tickers to see
- 1:03:37if her school was closed.
- 1:03:39Here's the deal.
- 1:03:40When I was a kid,
- 1:03:42we didn't have that.
- 1:03:43I grew up in the middle of nowhere.
- 1:03:45Right.
- 1:03:46So we had to listen to the radio
- 1:03:49to find out if our school was closed.
- 1:03:51Us too.
- 1:03:53And then my daughter,
- 1:03:55we lived here in Columbus.
- 1:03:56She gets born.
- 1:03:57There are so many freaking schools in the
- 1:03:58Columbus viewing area.
- 1:04:00Right.
- 1:04:01You'd have to wait almost a half an
- 1:04:03hour to find out if you can go
- 1:04:04back to bed.
- 1:04:07We didn't even have to talk about living
- 1:04:10in the middle of nowhere.
- 1:04:11Like,
- 1:04:12I went to the kindergarten through eighth
- 1:04:15grade all at one place.
- 1:04:17Pierport primary all the way through
- 1:04:20Pierport elementary.
- 1:04:21And then we just went to Assumption High.
- 1:04:22Like there was no,
- 1:04:23it's the only school in the parish.
- 1:04:24It's the only high school in the parish.
- 1:04:26So if we didn't have school for whatever
- 1:04:28reason,
- 1:04:29it was probably because a hurricane came
- 1:04:31through and there wasn't school to go to.
- 1:04:33It just was no electricity or whatever
- 1:04:35else was going on.
- 1:04:37Meg grew up in Montana.
- 1:04:38So like,
- 1:04:39It would only take like five schools to
- 1:04:41get through the whole gambit.
- 1:04:43Yeah.
- 1:04:45So she could do the TV thing.
- 1:04:46Yeah.
- 1:04:52Benita,
- 1:04:53we also would listen to the radio to
- 1:04:55see if schools closed because it was too
- 1:04:56cold for the buses to run.
- 1:04:59Never been that cold here.
- 1:05:00Dude,
- 1:05:01my buses had chains on the tires in
- 1:05:03the winter.
- 1:05:05Every time I hear that,
- 1:05:06I have absolutely no idea what it looks
- 1:05:07like because...
- 1:05:10It's snowed.
- 1:05:11Let me see.
- 1:05:13I don't,
- 1:05:14I don't even know how to describe it.
- 1:05:16The first time I remember ever seeing snow
- 1:05:20was in nineteen eight, eight, eight,
- 1:05:22eight, eight, nine.
- 1:05:25We had a light dusting over the whole
- 1:05:27yard and we thought it was the greatest
- 1:05:29thing on earth.
- 1:05:30Right.
- 1:05:31And then I don't ever remember it's
- 1:05:32snowing again until two thousand and six.
- 1:05:41See,
- 1:05:42I grew up in the Appalachian mountains
- 1:05:43with snow and hills.
- 1:05:46So the chains like,
- 1:05:47and I'm talking like thick chain would
- 1:05:50wrap around the tire and it would cross
- 1:05:52over.
- 1:05:53There was like two chains down the side
- 1:05:56and a bunch of chains, like a ladder.
- 1:05:58Right.
- 1:05:59And then the bus would drive over it
- 1:06:01and then you would hook it and that
- 1:06:02would wrap around the tire.
- 1:06:04And those big chain links would dig into
- 1:06:06the ice and snow.
- 1:06:09yeah if you do that just so you
- 1:06:10could climb the hill if you do that
- 1:06:12down here you just tear up the asphalt
- 1:06:14right well and we had studded tires where
- 1:06:17they had tires where they put like little
- 1:06:19mini nails all through it so you have
- 1:06:22nails in your tire down here you've got
- 1:06:25yeah not big nails these are tiny little
- 1:06:27nails like spikes like wearing turf shoes
- 1:06:31on a soccer field yeah
- 1:06:34Right.
- 1:06:34Same premise.
- 1:06:35But there were certain dates you had to
- 1:06:38have them off your car because they ruined
- 1:06:39the asphalt.
- 1:06:40Yeah.
- 1:06:41None of that.
- 1:06:46We have studded tires from October to
- 1:06:48April.
- 1:06:51Yep.
- 1:06:52Judy did the old phone tree.
- 1:06:58There was enough.
- 1:06:59There was a few enough people in town.
- 1:07:01when i grew up the town i grew
- 1:07:02up in you didn't even have to dial
- 1:07:04like my grandmother's number was two five
- 1:07:06two six two seven uh six two seven
- 1:07:08four when i was a young kid when
- 1:07:10i first learned her number that's the only
- 1:07:12number i needed was the six two seven
- 1:07:13four and therefore i could just dial six
- 1:07:15two seven four and get their house yeah
- 1:07:23i'll never forget that i got that that's
- 1:07:25gonna stick with me until i'll be a
- 1:07:26hundred years old
- 1:07:31Did you ever watch The Punk'd?
- 1:07:36I did.
- 1:07:37But I knew it as Candid Camera.
- 1:07:40Yeah.
- 1:07:41I understood.
- 1:07:46No, I didn't.
- 1:07:46I thought Ashton Kutcher was...
- 1:07:48I like him acting in movies,
- 1:07:51but when he was just like...
- 1:07:52I thought that was obnoxious as shit.
- 1:07:55I never watched any of it.
- 1:07:57Yeah, that was kind of after me.
- 1:07:59I mean, literally,
- 1:07:59I watched Candid Camera in the
- 1:08:01a lot yeah it was um but yeah
- 1:08:07also watch night rider and the a team
- 1:08:10and the a team fall guy dukes of
- 1:08:14hazard and good lord simon and simon
- 1:08:20magnum pi magnum pi all right man now
- 1:08:26we're now you're just now you're just on
- 1:08:29the hallucinogens man and we're
- 1:08:34Uh, anyone?
- 1:08:36Yes, Ken.
- 1:08:36I was going to talk about the party
- 1:08:38lines,
- 1:08:38but I decided probably need to get out
- 1:08:40of this conversation and get back to
- 1:08:42cleaning my garage and being bitter that
- 1:08:45nobody thinks I'm attractive.
- 1:08:47But anyway, enough about that.
