- 0:03Speaker 1: Welcome back to Guardians Wrap-Up. Guardians a winner today, 5-2
- 0:07Speaker 1: over the Twins, and they got it going early thanks
- 0:11Speaker 1: to the long ball once again, as this time it
- 0:14Speaker 1: was Gabriel Arias stepping in in the second inning. Gabriel
- 0:17Speaker 1: Arias at the plate, and he swings and drives one high,
- 0:20Speaker 1: deep to left center.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Home run, Arias! Into the bullpen. Guardians in front, 1-0.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Arias..
- 0:31Speaker 1: With three home runs in the last week now, and
- 0:35Speaker 1: there has not been a cheapie in the bunch. Meanwhile,
- 0:38Speaker 1: Gavin Williams was off to a great start. He retired
- 0:41Speaker 1: the first 13 hitters he faced. Perfect game with one
- 0:45Speaker 1: out in the bottom of the fifth, but Royce Lewis
- 0:48Speaker 1: singled on a flare to right center, and that set
- 0:51Speaker 1: the table for a run-scoring inning as Tristan Gray would
- 0:54Speaker 1: bring in the run with an RBI base hit and
- 0:57Speaker 1: tie the game at one. But it didn't take long
- 1:00Speaker 1: for the Guardians to retake the lead. Top half of
- 1:02Speaker 1: the sixth inning, Chase DeLauder came through again. The 2-1 pitch.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Swung on and that's blasted. High and deep to right.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Hard run DeLauder. He comes through again in the later
- 1:18Speaker 1: innings and he puts Cleveland back in front.
- 1:21Speaker 4: 2-1 Guardians.
- 1:25Speaker 1: The Guardians would pad the lead in the seventh inning.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Back-to-back walks for Patrick Bailey and Stephen Kwan. They were
- 1:32Speaker 1: on base with two outs when Brian Rocchio stepped in.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Switch hitter right side. The pitch to him.
- 1:37Speaker 2: He swings.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Lines it to third.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Over the glove.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Fair ball down the left field line. This is going
- 1:43Speaker 1: to score Bailey. Right behind him is Kwon. There'll be
- 1:46Speaker 1: a play at the plate. Kwon slides. Safe at home plate.
- 1:50Speaker 1: It's a two-run double for Brian Rocchio. And the Guardians
- 1:55Speaker 1: have the big hit they were looking for. It is
- 1:58Speaker 1: now 4-1. So the Guardians... Had a commanding lead at
- 2:03Speaker 1: that point. Royce Lewis homered in the bottom of the
- 2:07Speaker 1: seventh to make things interesting. But Patrick Bailey would answer
- 2:10Speaker 1: for the Guardians in the ninth. Here comes the 1-0
- 2:13Speaker 1: from Go. Swung on and launched. High and deep to right.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Way back there.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Home run, Patrick Bailey.
- 2:24Speaker 1: A towering blast that cleared the wall by plenty in right,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and the Guardians now lead it 5-2. And that was
- 2:35Speaker 1: it for offense on this day as the pitching took
- 2:37Speaker 1: over for the Guardians. Williams was terrific, relief help, and
- 2:42Speaker 1: in the end it was Cade Smith earning the save
- 2:45Speaker 1: for the Guardians. More on that in a moment, but
- 2:47Speaker 1: just a solid effort all around on the mound for
- 2:50Speaker 1: the Guardians as Williams takes went the first seven innings,
- 2:53Speaker 1: allowing just two runs on three hits, and matched his
- 2:56Speaker 1: season best for strikeouts with 11. He wins his 10th
- 2:59Speaker 1: game of the season. He's now 10-4. Hunter Gaddis with
- 3:03Speaker 1: a perfect eighth inning, and Cade Smith with a perfect
- 3:06Speaker 1: ninth to earn his major league-leading 27th save. Kendri Rojas
- 3:10Speaker 1: took the loss for the Twins. He's now 1-1. Final line,
- 3:14Speaker 1: five runs, six hits, no errors for the Guardians. Five
- 3:17Speaker 1: men left on base. On the other side for the Twins,
- 3:20Speaker 1: two runs, three hits, no errors, and three men left stranded.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Time of the game, two hours, 23 minutes.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Paid crowd, 22,221. Stay with us.

- 5:36Speaker 1: Guardians a winner today by a final score of five
- 5:39Speaker 1: to two here in minneapolis let's head downstairs and hear
- 5:42Speaker 1: from manager steven vote.
- 5:44Speaker 8: Hot obviously um you know he stopped it today and
- 5:48Speaker 8: uh he was fantastic um obviously perfect for a long
- 5:52Speaker 8: time there and um just we couldn't have asked for
- 5:55Speaker 8: anything more than gavin today and uh seven innings of
- 5:59Speaker 8: shutdown baseball nice of you gabby to get you one
- 6:01Speaker 8: to get rolling but Just him and Chase being able
- 6:03Speaker 8: to hit.
- 6:03Speaker 2: The ball out and Patrick.
- 6:04Speaker 8: Yeah, when we hit the ball out of the yard,
- 6:07Speaker 8: I mean, we're better. Everybody is.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I mean, it's no secret. And that's just it.
- 6:11Speaker 8: When you're ready for a mistake and you get it,
- 6:13Speaker 8: you don't want to miss it. And I thought we
- 6:15Speaker 8: swung the bats pretty well today off over. You know,
- 6:17Speaker 8: he's tough. That ball never gets to the plate. Threw
- 6:20Speaker 8: very few fastballs, but I thought we fought him in battle.
- 6:24Speaker 4: And Rokio once again late, too.
- 6:25Speaker 2: How good is it to have Rokio do this right now?
- 6:28Speaker 8: He's been consistent all year, coming up with big hits,
- 6:31Speaker 8: getting on base. Obviously, the defense has been fantastic.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Huge, huge hit from Rokey.
- 6:38Speaker 8: What do you make of Gabby Harris' power?
- 6:42Speaker 5: I mean, he's had a few, like, four-fifths last week
- 6:44Speaker 5: or so.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Gabby's got some of the best tools in baseball.
- 6:47Speaker 8: I mean, that play he made on the bunt, very
- 6:50Speaker 8: few third basemen make that play. His arm strength and
- 6:53Speaker 8: his power are real. And he's getting better at swing decisions.
- 6:57Speaker 8: He's getting better with following a plan. And when he
- 6:59Speaker 8: gets a mistake like that, it's going to go a
- 7:01Speaker 8: long way when he barrels it.
- 7:02Speaker 6: Are you excited to watch Chase hit against lefties?
- 7:05Speaker 5: He's really comfortable.
- 7:07Speaker 2: He's got a good plan and approach. It's a short,
- 7:09Speaker 2: quick swing.
- 7:10Speaker 8: He makes great swing decisions. It's a recipe for hitting
- 7:14Speaker 8: left on left. What's been fun this last week is
- 7:17Speaker 8: seeing him turn on some fastballs. Chase is in a
- 7:20Speaker 8: really good place right now.
- 7:21Speaker 2: We need to keep him going.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Well, that's it for our coverage today from Target Field
- 7:30Speaker 1: in Minneapolis. The Guardians Traveling Roadshow moves on to Miami
- 7:34Speaker 1: tomorrow night. They'll open a three-game series heading into the
- 7:37Speaker 1: All-Star break against the Marlins with a 7-10 start. Airtime
- 7:41Speaker 1: for Guardians warm-up, 6.35. With the victory today, Cleveland now,
- 7:47Speaker 1: they will maintain their status at the very least in
- 7:50Speaker 1: the American League Central Division, but could pull into a
- 7:53Speaker 1: first-place tie with the White Sox if the White Sox win.
- 7:56Speaker 1: do not come from behind and win their game against
- 7:59Speaker 1: Boston today. Cleveland came in a game out in the
- 8:02Speaker 1: AL Central. Minnesota, meanwhile, misses an opportunity to get back
- 8:05Speaker 1: to the 500 mark. They are 46-48 on the season,
- 8:10Speaker 1: and they're now two games back of the Guardians, two
- 8:12Speaker 1: and a half back of the White Sox as we speak. Well,
- 8:16Speaker 1: we want to thank Jared Wells, our on-site engineer here
- 8:19Speaker 1: at Target Field, and as always, Brian Motze back at
- 8:22Speaker 1: Command Center. And for Pat Tabler, this is Jim Rosenhouse
- 8:26Speaker 1: reminding you, the final score today from Target Field in Minneapolis,
- 8:31Speaker 1: the Cleveland Guardians 5, the Minnesota Twins 2.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Have a great night, everyone.
- 8:37Speaker 9: Well, Heidi Ho, 425 here on a Thursday afternoon, July,
- 8:40Speaker 9: what is it, 9th already? It's 85 degrees. Ron Verb,
- 8:44Speaker 9: NewsRadio 570 WKVN. Welcome one and all with the Guardians
- 8:48Speaker 9: victory today. So that's the good news. We'll be with
- 8:50Speaker 9: you right up until 7 o'clock tonight. Ron, why is that? Well,
- 8:55Speaker 9: I'll tell you, because we have a legal show coming
- 8:57Speaker 9: your way 5 to 6 tonight, as always, courtesy of
- 9:00Speaker 9: Beatrice Kopp. Free legal advice. That'll be 5 to 6 tonight.
- 9:04Speaker 9: And then tonight, 6 to 7, John Arnold's Money Talks
- 9:07Speaker 9: program on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 9:08Speaker 2: So that's what's ahead. So we conversate tonight.
- 9:14Speaker 9: For a mere 35 minutes, boys and girls, for a
- 9:17Speaker 9: mere 35 minutes, we can conversate here on NewsRadio 570.
- 9:21Speaker 9: Here's last night when I left the radio station. When
- 9:25Speaker 9: I was driving home, I went down 224 in Boardman,
- 9:29Speaker 9: and I turned on Tippy.
- 9:31Speaker 2: I went down Tippy. And, boy, I tell you something. Obviously,
- 9:37Speaker 2: it depends where you are.
- 9:38Speaker 4: You talk.
- 9:41Speaker 9: Are unaware of the damage that this tornado did. But boy,
- 9:44Speaker 9: and going down Tippie, it was just eye-opening to go
- 9:47Speaker 9: slow and look at the damage it was done to
- 9:49Speaker 9: so many trees down in that area and so many homes.
- 9:54Speaker 9: And I mean, you would see so many tree trucks
- 9:57Speaker 9: that were out there dealing with these gigantic trees that'd
- 10:01Speaker 9: be on somebody's house or down in their yard. And
- 10:04Speaker 9: a lot of tree guys and tree trucks and Edison
- 10:07Speaker 9: trucks that were down there.
- 10:09Speaker 2: And just What a great effort.
- 10:12Speaker 9: I mean, I was reading where somebody was saying they
- 10:16Speaker 9: brought some of these Edison guys, and there's also private
- 10:20Speaker 9: contractors that Edison hires. I mean, when you look at
- 10:23Speaker 9: these guys, and when you're without power, I was talking
- 10:26Speaker 9: to a guy today, his power just got restored today.
- 10:30Speaker 9: He's down in that Tippecanoe area. His power just got
- 10:34Speaker 9: on today. So can you imagine, let's see, what is it, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday?
- 10:42Speaker 9: I mean, that's how long. But the trees that were down,
- 10:46Speaker 9: the wires that were down, the phone poles or electric
- 10:48Speaker 9: poles that were down, just incredible. So when you see
- 10:52Speaker 9: all these guys from Ohio Edison in their trucks, you know,
- 10:56Speaker 9: I just salute them. I absolutely salute every one of them.
- 11:00Speaker 9: It is a dangerous job. in what they're dealing with.
- 11:04Speaker 9: It's an extremely dangerous job, the linemen for Ohio Edison.
- 11:08Speaker 9: And then you see all these other guys that are
- 11:11Speaker 9: here that are what you'd call subcontractors, private sector guys
- 11:16Speaker 9: that's retired from the power company and opened up their
- 11:19Speaker 9: own company with the same type trucks, huge investment trucks
- 11:22Speaker 9: to put poles in and bucket trucks and that kind
- 11:25Speaker 9: of stuff that are here to assist the electric company
- 11:29Speaker 9: in dealing with this type of a situation. And With
- 11:33Speaker 9: the heat and high temperatures and the humidity, not so
- 11:37Speaker 9: much the temperature as well. It's just the humidity that
- 11:41Speaker 9: we've had lately. It's just been tremendous last few days.
- 11:44Speaker 9: And these guys are busting their hump in this humidity,
- 11:47Speaker 9: trying to get power on in all these areas, doing
- 11:49Speaker 9: a terrific job. And, uh, I just salute them. I mean,
- 11:54Speaker 9: you sit back. Sometimes we sit back, we complain and
- 11:57Speaker 9: we bellyache about a lot of things, but there's things
- 11:59Speaker 9: that we got to acknowledge and people we got to
- 12:01Speaker 9: acknowledge that just, in my opinion, do such a terrific service.
- 12:07Speaker 9: And that would be certainly Ohio Edison, all the linemen
- 12:11Speaker 9: that are out there. I think Ohio Edison does an
- 12:13Speaker 9: excellent job. The linemen that are out there, all you subcontractors.
- 12:17Speaker 9: And frankly, all you tree guys that are local tree
- 12:20Speaker 9: guys and the ones that have come to town as
- 12:22Speaker 9: well to try to help out in these situations and
- 12:25Speaker 9: get that going because there's just a ton of work
- 12:27Speaker 9: out there. And that can be expensive as well. So,
- 12:31Speaker 9: I mean, the insurance and insurance adjusters. You know, when
- 12:34Speaker 9: we're talking about all the people that you've got to
- 12:36Speaker 9: give a salute to, as they used to do on EHAW,
- 12:38Speaker 9: you've got to think about your insurance company and all
- 12:41Speaker 9: the adjusters that have to come out and deal with
- 12:44Speaker 9: people's flooded basements and deal with people's roof damage and
- 12:48Speaker 9: deal with the damage that was done. A lot of
- 12:49Speaker 9: adjusters have to come out and look at that. And
- 12:53Speaker 9: then you're going to get into all the people that
- 12:55Speaker 9: have to service people. the damage that was done in
- 12:58Speaker 9: basements and what have you. I mean, there's just a
- 13:00Speaker 9: lot of people that will obviously make some pretty good
- 13:04Speaker 9: money if you're a tree guy or you're doing restoration
- 13:07Speaker 9: in flooded basements. You'll make a bundle of money. But
- 13:11Speaker 9: I'm sure that the customer is glad you're there and
- 13:14Speaker 9: the insurance company is probably happy that you're there as well.
- 13:18Speaker 9: Just an incredible thing. Just some people that really do
- 13:22Speaker 9: fantastic work. And as I say, the first ones that
- 13:25Speaker 9: come to mind are the linemen for Ohio Edison and
- 13:27Speaker 9: all the subcontractors and all the tree guys making it happen.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Back in a minute.
- 13:34Speaker 1: On NewsRadio 570 WKVN.
- 13:37Speaker 9: Well, Heidi Ho, 425 here on a Thursday afternoon, July,
- 13:41Speaker 9: what is it, 9th already? It's 85 degrees. Ron Verb,
- 13:45Speaker 9: NewsRadio 570 WKVN. Welcome one and all with a Guardian's
- 13:49Speaker 9: victory today. So that's the good news. We'll be with
- 13:51Speaker 9: you right up until 7 o'clock tonight. Ron, why is that? Well,
- 13:56Speaker 9: I'll tell you, because we have a legal show coming
- 13:58Speaker 9: your way 5 to 6 tonight, as always, courtesy of
- 14:01Speaker 9: Beatrice Kopp, Free Legal Advice. That'll be 5 to 6 tonight.
- 14:05Speaker 9: And then tonight, 6 to 7, John Arnold's Money Talks
- 14:08Speaker 9: program on NewsRadio 570. So that's what's ahead. So we
- 14:14Speaker 9: conversate for a mere 35 minutes, boys and girls, for
- 14:18Speaker 9: a mere 35 minutes, we can conversate together. Here on
- 14:20Speaker 9: NewsRadio 570 WKBN. Here's last night when I left the
- 14:25Speaker 9: radio station. When I was driving home, I went down
- 14:29Speaker 9: 224 in Boardman, and I turned on Tippy.

- 14:48Speaker 9: to go slow and look at the damage that was
- 14:50Speaker 9: done to so many trees down in that area. And
- 14:54Speaker 9: so many homes. And I mean, you would, you would
- 14:56Speaker 9: see so many tree trucks that were out there trying

- 17:45Speaker 9: people's flooded basements and deal with people's roof damage and
- 17:48Speaker 9: deal with the damage that was done.
- 17:50Speaker 2: A lot of adjusters have to come out and look
- 17:52Speaker 2: at that.
- 17:53Speaker 9: And then you're going to get into all the people
- 17:56Speaker 9: that have to service people.
- 17:57Speaker 2: The damage that was done in basements and what have you.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I mean, there's just.
- 18:01Speaker 9: A lot of people that will obviously make some pretty
- 18:04Speaker 9: good money if you're a tree guy or you're doing
- 18:07Speaker 9: restoration in flooded basements.
- 18:09Speaker 2: You'll make a bundle of money.
- 18:11Speaker 9: But I'm sure that the customer is glad you're there
- 18:15Speaker 9: and the insurance company is probably happy that you're there
- 18:18Speaker 9: as well. Just an incredible thing. Just some people that
- 18:22Speaker 9: really do fantastic work. And as I say, the first
- 18:26Speaker 9: ones that come to mind are the linemen for Ohio
- 18:28Speaker 9: Edison and all the subcontractors and all the tree guys
- 18:32Speaker 9: making it happen.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Back in a minute.
- 18:37Speaker 10: In Akron, a 14-year-old boy is charged with last week's
- 18:40Speaker 10: shooting death of a 15-year-old, Josiah Harris. The charges include
- 18:45Speaker 10: negligent homicide. Akron police say the shooting happened as a
- 18:48Speaker 10: 14-year-old was being attacked by the 15-year-old's dog. The state
- 18:53Speaker 10: of Ohio is considered to be the best state for
- 18:55Speaker 10: business in the nation. That's according to a ranking by CNBC.
- 19:00Speaker 10: That ranking's been around for 20 years. In the first ranking,
- 19:04Speaker 10: Ohio came in 30th place. Now it's number one. Governor
- 19:08Speaker 10: Mike DeWine on CNBC to talk about it.
- 19:11Speaker 9: We are focused on making this a business-friendly state.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Taxes are low.
- 19:17Speaker 7: The legislature has been great about leading in regard to that.
- 19:21Speaker 2: I'm Matt Reese.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Listen on the free iHeartRadio app for all your music, news, talk,
- 19:26Speaker 1: and sports radio.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Podcasts, too.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Download the app. Free never sounded so good. Now, Ron
- 19:36Speaker 2: Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 19:41Speaker 9: All right, back to it. News Radio 570 WKBN. Explain
- 19:45Speaker 9: this to me. I'm just going to read you an
- 19:47Speaker 9: email I just was reading. And I'm trying to figure out...
- 19:52Speaker 9: Instead of sending me this email, call me and explain
- 19:54Speaker 9: this to me, emailer. And it just says this, and
- 19:59Speaker 9: I don't know what this means. You heard it here first.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Okay?
- 20:03Speaker 10: Rumor.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Okay, it's a rumor.
- 20:06Speaker 9: So that says, you heard it here first. Rumor has it...
- 20:09Speaker 9: that Ed O'Neill is a potential buyer of Schwebel's. Okay,
- 20:17Speaker 9: explain that to me, emailer. You know, if you're listening,
- 20:22Speaker 9: I'm calling on you to call into the program and
- 20:23Speaker 9: explain what that means. I'm trying to figure out where, okay,
- 20:27Speaker 9: so there's that rumor. What's that based on? I'm just
- 20:30Speaker 9: trying to figure it out. I'm just trying to figure
- 20:34Speaker 9: it out. What does that mean? I'll get to calls
- 20:42Speaker 9: in a minute. There's two stories that I also wanted
- 20:45Speaker 9: to bring to your attention. Illness linked to explosive diarrhea
- 20:51Speaker 9: reported locally. So I want you to know that if
- 20:56Speaker 9: you're having explosive diarrhea, are you suffering from explosive diarrhea?
- 21:04Speaker 2: Hi, it's Ron Verp.
- 21:07Speaker 9: Health officials are urging people to be aware of a
- 21:09Speaker 9: parasite that is making people sick across the country. With
- 21:13Speaker 9: the Ohio Department of Health reporting two confirmed cases in
- 21:16Speaker 9: Mahoning County. Okay, only two cases. Can you imagine? I
- 21:23Speaker 9: can't even imagine if I was trying to do the
- 21:25Speaker 9: broadcast and I'm suffering from this. Hey, I've got to
- 21:27Speaker 9: take a commercial break. I have explosive diarrhea right now.
- 21:30Speaker 9: Experts say cyclosporias... is a foodborne parasite. You would never
- 21:39Speaker 9: know that I'm a college graduate, and I actually took
- 21:42Speaker 9: all the science classes that were required, and I can't
- 21:44Speaker 9: pronounce it.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Cyclosporias. I'm going to go with that.
- 21:50Speaker 9: It's a foodborne parasite that can cause severe gastrointestinal illness,
- 21:55Speaker 9: according to the Ohio Department of Health, as of July 2nd.
- 21:58Speaker 9: 28 Ohioans have been hospitalized, and 171 cases were reported
- 22:03Speaker 9: in June across the state. Symptoms include explosive diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue,
- 22:15Speaker 9: and loss of appetite. And it can last for days
- 22:19Speaker 9: or even weeks if it's left untreated. So this is
- 22:25Speaker 9: contracted usually from fresh vegetables like salads or green onions
- 22:31Speaker 9: or from some fruit like raspberries. And so usually contacted
- 22:38Speaker 9: from the route, from the contaminated food. Rarely is it
- 22:42Speaker 9: passed from person to person. So, you know, I got
- 22:47Speaker 9: to put my foot down. I guess I better stop
- 22:48Speaker 9: eating salads, green onions, and fruit like raspberries. Because the
- 23:01Speaker 9: stuff must not be that clean. So what does the
- 23:05Speaker 9: doctor recommend? That you thoroughly wash fresh fruits and vegetables
- 23:09Speaker 9: and seeking medical help if symptoms get worse or don't improve.
- 23:13Speaker 9: So if you've got explosive diarrhea. Hi, it's Ron Verb here.
- 23:17Speaker 9: That's like a radio commercial. Hi, it's Ron Verb here.
- 23:20Speaker 9: Are you suffering from explosive diarrhea? If so, what you
- 23:23Speaker 9: need to do is avoid salads and green onions as
- 23:29Speaker 9: well as some fruit like raspberries. And if you continue
- 23:33Speaker 9: to have, and if you do all of that and
- 23:35Speaker 9: still have explosive diarrhea, make sure you see your doctor.
- 23:38Speaker 9: This public service announcement brought to you by NewsRadio 570
- 23:42Speaker 9: WKBN and Ron Verb. It's probably not funny to the
- 23:48Speaker 9: people who have it, right? They're not laughing about it.
- 23:51Speaker 2: All right.
- 23:51Speaker 9: But I want you to be aware of it. Where
- 23:56Speaker 9: was the other one? Mahoning County won't get money for
- 23:58Speaker 9: storm cleanup.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 24:02Speaker 9: Sorry.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 24:04Speaker 9: Gertrude Avenue and Boardman on Wednesday looked like many other
- 24:08Speaker 9: township streets lined with branches for pickup after Sunday's storm.
- 24:11Speaker 9: The aftermath dominated the discussion at Wednesday's Boardman Township Trustee
- 24:15Speaker 9: Meeting where they learned not to expect any money from
- 24:18Speaker 9: the state or federal government. Zach Williams of the Monon
- 24:21Speaker 9: County Emergency Management Agency told Boardman trustees not to expect
- 24:24Speaker 9: any money for state or federal governments to help with
- 24:27Speaker 9: cleanup after Sunday's storm. The federal government requires that at
- 24:29Speaker 9: least 24 houses sustain 40% damage and.
- 24:33Speaker 2: That they are uninsured.
- 24:36Speaker 9: Okay, so you need houses that have 40% damage and uninsured.
- 24:41Speaker 9: Shame on you for being responsible for having insurance. What
- 24:46Speaker 9: kind of criteria is that? Oh, we got to have 40%
- 24:48Speaker 9: damage and your house has to be uninsured. What kind
- 24:51Speaker 9: of load of crap is that? And I don't mean
- 24:53Speaker 9: explosive diarrhea. We don't have that much damage to meet
- 24:56Speaker 9: those directives that they need, Williams said. Right now, we
- 25:00Speaker 9: are not really seeing those stats meeting their standards. Williams
- 25:03Speaker 9: said most of the county's power should be restored by
- 25:05Speaker 9: 11 p.m.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Wednesday.
- 25:08Speaker 9: Well, a buddy of mine called me and said he
- 25:10Speaker 9: just got back today, except for Fairway Drive area of Canfield,
- 25:15Speaker 9: which could be out until the weekend. And God help
- 25:19Speaker 9: you people with trying to sleep without air conditioning. We
- 25:22Speaker 9: are down to under 800 residents who left in a
- 25:26Speaker 9: county that are without power. So we're doing pretty good
- 25:30Speaker 9: where we started with over 23,000. They got 400 calls,
- 25:35Speaker 9: the fire chief said, for service.
- 25:37Speaker 2: But other.
- 25:40Speaker 9: Issues surprised me even more. It still amazes me that
- 25:43Speaker 9: there were no injuries treated by us or Lane Ambulance
- 25:46Speaker 9: from the storm. And we had trees down on cars.
- 25:48Speaker 9: We had people stuck in high water. Steve Iacovone joined
- 25:53Speaker 9: his fellow trustees in complimenting how the employees of Orbitoncha
- 25:56Speaker 9: battled the aftermath. It doesn't look like the tornado blew
- 25:59Speaker 9: through here, and it's been three days to see how
- 26:04Speaker 9: everyone stepped up in a time of crisis. It was
- 26:07Speaker 9: truly amazing. It's going to take weeks and possibly even
- 26:10Speaker 9: months or two in order to get all that cleaned up. Well,
- 26:14Speaker 9: that's nice to hear. Like I say, you've got to
- 26:17Speaker 9: salute all these people, man. You've got to salute Line
- 26:19Speaker 9: Ohio Edison and all the subcontractors, man, getting the poles
- 26:23Speaker 9: back up to power up, and all the tree company
- 26:25Speaker 9: guys that are cleaning this up.
- 26:28Speaker 2: You're on the air.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Yeah. Hey, Ron.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:32Speaker 11: I talk like that every time I listen to your program.
- 26:36Speaker 2: It's Bubba Ganoush. So you're saying when you listen to
- 26:39Speaker 2: my program, you get those symptoms?
- 26:41Speaker 11: I've got a growth of diarrhea, yeah.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Listening to the program. Well, that's interesting. I mean, I'm surprised.
- 26:47Speaker 9: It probably won't be a very long phone call, and
- 26:49Speaker 9: you'll probably have to make your point and hang up
- 26:51Speaker 9: and go relieve yourself.
- 26:54Speaker 4: Oh, come on now. You pick on me? I give
- 26:57Speaker 4: you one back.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Well, you know, you're hurting my feelings. I need a
- 27:00Speaker 2: hug now. I need a hug.
- 27:01Speaker 11: You don't have any feelings, Ron.
- 27:03Speaker 2: I need a hug. You've got to give me a hug.
- 27:05Speaker 2: You hurt my feelings.
- 27:07Speaker 4: I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll call JJ and
- 27:09Speaker 4: have him come over and give me a big hug.
- 27:12Speaker 4: And then maybe draw you a picture.
- 27:13Speaker 2: All right. Actually, he's not a bad artist in all seriousness.
- 27:17Speaker 2: I've seen some of his stuff.
- 27:18Speaker 4: By the way, I haven't been on in a while.
- 27:21Speaker 4: I know.
- 27:22Speaker 2: I was concerned that maybe you were trapped somewhere as
- 27:25Speaker 2: a result of the storm.
- 27:27Speaker 4: No, not at all. I didn't get hit. I said
- 27:29Speaker 4: the art father drew hill marriage when I came in,
- 27:32Speaker 4: and I got nothing. Just a few sticks.
- 27:35Speaker 11: In my driveway, and that's.
- 27:37Speaker 3: It. Yeah.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Do you live in Boardman?
- 27:40Speaker 5: No.
- 27:41Speaker 4: I live in... I live in kind of Austintown, Mill Creek.
- 27:45Speaker 4: But it came through. The winds are over 70-something miles
- 27:49Speaker 4: an hour.
- 27:50Speaker 11: They were hard.
- 27:51Speaker 2: I didn't know you lived in Austin. You've got to live.
- 27:54Speaker 2: What's your zip code?
- 27:55Speaker 5: 44511?
- 27:55Speaker 2: No, 09. Well, then that's not an Austintown zip code.
- 28:01Speaker 4: No, I said Mill Creek Park near Austintown, west side.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Okay.
- 28:06Speaker 9: So for just a minute, I thought you said you
- 28:08Speaker 9: lived in Austintown, and I thought if that was true,
- 28:11Speaker 9: I'd have to put the house up for sale.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Because I'd go home and I'd say to my wife,
- 28:17Speaker 2: I would say, I would say to my wife, there
- 28:19Speaker 2: goes the neighborhood. Bubba Ganoush is here.
- 28:21Speaker 4: Did you see what you just did?
- 28:24Speaker 2: I just, I listen to him just teasing. Okay. Grow
- 28:28Speaker 2: a pair.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Well, I was teasing too about the diarrhea.
- 28:34Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 28:34Speaker 4: By the way, guess who bring that in?
- 28:38Speaker 2: Uh, well, I, I don't know. It's, it's from your lettuce.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Uh, That's illegal.
- 28:45Speaker 9: You shouldn't be eating lettuce. I mean, you know, it's... Oh,
- 28:49Speaker 9: I don't know about that. It's from your lettuce.
- 28:53Speaker 2: I'm just trying to go through everything on what's going
- 28:58Speaker 2: on in this community, you know, to see what... Okay,
- 29:04Speaker 2: go ahead. What contribution do you have to make to
- 29:06Speaker 2: the broadcast?
- 29:08Speaker 4: Okay. Don't pick... Don't pick..
- 29:14Speaker 9: I ran.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Do me a favor. Do me a favor.
- 29:18Speaker 9: Pick up your phone so I can hear you clearer. Okay,
- 29:21Speaker 9: this is where that guy said this. Okay, so I'm
- 29:24Speaker 9: going to listen to this story. So let's see. In
- 29:28Speaker 9: a filing this week in federal court, Schwebel's Baking Company
- 29:32Speaker 9: indicated to a judge that it has a potential buyer.
- 29:35Speaker 4: Yes, his name is Eddie O'Neill.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Now, why does the guy say that rumor has it?
- 29:40Speaker 2: it it's Ed O'Neill?
- 29:41Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right. Eddie loves this town. Maybe he wants
- 29:45Speaker 4: to buy it so he can hang out with Ray
- 29:48Speaker 4: Boom Boom Mancini and the rest of his buddies.
- 29:52Speaker 9: Schwebel's indicated during a Tuesday conference call that they have
- 29:55Speaker 9: a potential buyer and may need to go through Chapter
- 29:57Speaker 9: 11 bankruptcy process for the sale. Defendant Schwebel's Baking Company
- 30:01Speaker 9: indicated that may need to go through expiated Chapter 11
- 30:05Speaker 9: bankruptcy process to achieve a sale of its business to
- 30:07Speaker 9: a potential buyer. There is presently a potential buyer for
- 30:12Speaker 9: defendant Schwebel's Baking Company and the parties to this litigation
- 30:16Speaker 9: are in discussion to determine. Okay, so that's what they say.
- 30:19Speaker 9: So then how would this person that emailed me and
- 30:22Speaker 9: you know who you are, explain it to me, said,
- 30:24Speaker 9: you heard it here first, rumor, rumor, they say, has
- 30:28Speaker 9: it that Ed O'Neill is the potential buyer of Schwebel's.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Well, how would they know that? How would you know that?
- 30:33Speaker 2: How would anybody know that? How do you know I'm
- 30:37Speaker 2: not the potential buyer of Schwebel's?
- 30:39Speaker 4: Stop. Listen to me.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Listen to me. I don't care about that. How do
- 30:45Speaker 2: you know I'm not the potential buyer?
- 30:48Speaker 4: Yeah, Ron. Yeah, Ron. You? You've got to be kidding me.
- 30:51Speaker 4: You've never ran a business before?
- 30:54Speaker 2: All my life. I know. I know.
- 30:56Speaker 4: You ran a business.
- 30:58Speaker 9: Okay, but I mean, when you take a look at Schwebel's,
- 31:01Speaker 9: I hope there is a potential buyer. I'm saddened to
- 31:06Speaker 9: see it go. I mean, it seems to me you
- 31:08Speaker 9: should be able to turn that place around. I mean,
- 31:11Speaker 9: they've got a lot of customers.
- 31:12Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 31:12Speaker 4: You should be happy as hell, Ron.
- 31:14Speaker 2: But I would like to know where that rumor started.
- 31:18Speaker 4: All right. You won't listen to me. All right.
- 31:21Speaker 2: What do you have to say? I'm listening.
- 31:23Speaker 4: All right. Eddie was born over here on the north side.
- 31:28Speaker 2: I know that.
- 31:28Speaker 4: All right. He's good friends with a lot of the
- 31:32Speaker 4: people in this community.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so?
- 31:35Speaker 4: He could come down to Cedars all the time. He
- 31:37Speaker 4: was good friends with my brother Tom.
- 31:39Speaker 2: All right, so?
- 31:41Speaker 4: And he comes to the Golden Dawn a lot.
- 31:43Speaker 2: So what's that got to do with buying Schwebel's?
- 31:47Speaker 4: He loves his community. When he heard about that many
- 31:50Speaker 4: workers being laid off, he said, you know what? I
- 31:54Speaker 4: got the money. Let's do it.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Well, I'll be curious if that's true. I mean, I
- 32:01Speaker 2: don't know how people find that stuff out. I want
- 32:03Speaker 2: to know how they find that out. I really want
- 32:05Speaker 2: to know. Because, I mean, that would be kind of cool.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Could I ask you something? If you knew somebody that
- 32:12Speaker 4: became famous.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I do.
- 32:15Speaker 4: And they kept in touch with you. I do.
- 32:17Speaker 2: It's a guy named J.J. the Liberal.
- 32:20Speaker 4: All right, and they kept in touch with you. All
- 32:22Speaker 4: of a sudden, they mention you. Hey, listen, Ron, I
- 32:25Speaker 4: think I'll buy that because I can't see that many workers,
- 32:30Speaker 4: thousands of workers being out of work.
- 32:31Speaker 2: It's not thousands of workers. They don't have that many employees.
- 32:35Speaker 4: It's not just young people.
- 32:37Speaker 2: They have hundreds of workers, not thousands.
- 32:40Speaker 4: All right, well, they got thousands. It's Youngstown and Cleveland.
- 32:44Speaker 2: I don't know. Okay, so let's say they got a
- 32:47Speaker 2: few hundred. But whatever.
- 32:49Speaker 9: I hope it survives. So you're saying that he might
- 32:53Speaker 9: have said it to a friend. I just want to
- 32:54Speaker 9: know how that got out there.
- 32:55Speaker 2: And you don't know.
- 32:56Speaker 4: All right.
- 32:58Speaker 2: All right, but you're saying this is a possibility.
- 33:02Speaker 4: I believe it because he loves his community.
- 33:05Speaker 9: Well, I love this community, too, and I'm not buying Schwebel's.
- 33:09Speaker 9: You love this community, and you're not buying Schwabels.
- 33:13Speaker 4: Yeah, but you couldn't afford that kind of money, right?
- 33:14Speaker 2: You're absolutely right. No, you got me there.
- 33:17Speaker 4: All right. But listen.
- 33:19Speaker 2: I got to go.
- 33:21Speaker 4: Since he knows a lot of people, he can collaborate
- 33:25Speaker 4: with their money as well. All right.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Thank you for your call. I'm glad you're safe. I've
- 33:29Speaker 2: been worried sick about you, okay?
- 33:31Speaker 4: Now, what about Iran?
- 33:32Speaker 2: We'll deal with that tomorrow. You're on the air. Wait
- 33:38Speaker 2: a second. You're on the air.
- 33:40Speaker 5: Hey, Ron.
- 33:41Speaker 4: Yes. CQDX, buddy.
- 33:44Speaker 2: CQDX to you, my friends.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Hi.
- 33:47Speaker 5: I want to tell you a little bit about Sunday.
- 33:50Speaker 5: We were at my sister's there, right in the middle
- 33:52Speaker 5: of that mess, off of West Boulevard, in the swimming pool.
- 33:57Speaker 5: And that wind started, and that train howl noise started.
- 34:02Speaker 5: And it kept getting worse and worse, and I told
- 34:04Speaker 5: to get every kid to the house. He got them
- 34:07Speaker 5: in the basement, and I watched the... The entire backyard
- 34:10Speaker 5: trees fold over, and that wind just kept picking up,
- 34:13Speaker 5: and that noise kept escalating. And then about 15 minutes,
- 34:17Speaker 5: it was gone. But, I mean, it destroyed that neighborhood
- 34:20Speaker 5: over there pretty bad.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Now, where were you in.
- 34:24Speaker 5: The pool at? We were off of Gulfview, West Boulevard.
- 34:29Speaker 2: And everybody had terrible damage. Oh, yeah, so you were served.
- 34:35Speaker 2: On NewsRadio 570, WKBN. All right, back to it.
- 34:39Speaker 9: News Radio 570 WKBN. Explain this to me. I'm just
- 34:44Speaker 9: going to read you an email I just was reading.
- 34:46Speaker 9: And I'm trying to get to figure out. Instead of
- 34:50Speaker 9: sending me this email, call me and explain this to me, emailer.
- 34:55Speaker 9: And it just says this. And I don't know what
- 34:57Speaker 9: this means. You heard it here first.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Okay.
- 35:00Speaker 6: Rumor.
- 35:01Speaker 4: Okay.
- 35:01Speaker 2: It's a rumor.
- 35:03Speaker 9: So that says you heard it here first. Rumor has it.
- 35:07Speaker 9: that Ed O'Neill is the potential buyer of Schwebel's. Okay,
- 35:15Speaker 9: explain that to me, emailer. You know, if you're listening,
- 35:19Speaker 9: I'm calling on you to call into the program and
- 35:21Speaker 9: explain what that means. I'm trying to figure out where, okay,
- 35:24Speaker 9: so there's that rumor. What's that based on? I'm just
- 35:27Speaker 9: trying to figure it out. I'm just trying to figure
- 35:32Speaker 9: it out. What does that mean? I'll get to calls
- 35:40Speaker 9: in a minute. There's two stories that I also wanted
- 35:42Speaker 9: to bring to your attention. Illness linked to explosive diarrhea
- 35:49Speaker 9: reported locally. So I want you to know that if
- 35:54Speaker 9: you're having explosive diarrhea, are you suffering from explosive diarrhea?
- 36:02Speaker 2: Hi, it's Ron Verp.
- 36:04Speaker 9: Health officials say are urging people to be aware of
- 36:07Speaker 9: a parasite that is making people sick across the country,
- 36:10Speaker 9: with the Ohio Department of Health reporting two confirmed cases
- 36:13Speaker 9: in Mahoning County.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Okay, only two cases. Can you imagine?
- 36:20Speaker 9: I can't even imagine if I was trying to do
- 36:22Speaker 9: the broadcast, and I'm suffering from this. Hey, I've got
- 36:24Speaker 9: to take a commercial break. I have explosive diarrhea right now.
- 36:27Speaker 9: Experts say cyclosporias... is a foodborne parasite. You would never
- 36:37Speaker 9: know that I'm a college graduate, and I actually took
- 36:39Speaker 9: all the science classes that were required, and I can't
- 36:42Speaker 9: pronounce it.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Cyclosporias, I'm going.
- 36:46Speaker 9: To go with that, is a foodborne parasite that can
- 36:49Speaker 9: cause severe gastrointestinal illness, according to the Ohio Department of Health,
- 36:54Speaker 9: as of July 2nd. 28 Ohioans have been hospitalized, and
- 36:58Speaker 9: 171 cases were reported in June across the state. Symptoms
- 37:06Speaker 9: include explosive diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue, and loss of appetite.
- 37:15Speaker 9: And it can last for days or even weeks if
- 37:18Speaker 9: it's left untreated. So this is contracted usually from fresh
- 37:24Speaker 9: vegetables like salads or green onions or from some fruit
- 37:30Speaker 9: like raspberries. And so usually contacted from the route from
- 37:37Speaker 9: the contaminated food. Rarely is it passed from person to person. So,
- 37:44Speaker 9: you know, now I got to put my foot down.
- 37:45Speaker 9: I guess I better stop eating salads, green onions, and
- 37:53Speaker 9: fruit like raspberries. Because the stuff must not be that clean.
- 38:01Speaker 9: So what does the doctor recommend? That you thoroughly wash
- 38:04Speaker 9: fresh fruits and vegetables and seeking medical help if symptoms
- 38:09Speaker 9: get worse or don't improve. So if you've got explosive diarrhea. Hi,
- 38:13Speaker 9: it's Ron Verb here. That's like a radio commercial. Hi,
- 38:16Speaker 9: it's Ron Verb here. Are you suffering from explosive diarrhea?
- 38:20Speaker 9: If so, what you need to do is avoid salads
- 38:24Speaker 9: and green onions as well as some fruit like raspberries.
- 38:30Speaker 9: And if you continue to have, and if you do
- 38:32Speaker 9: all of that and still have explosive diarrhea, make sure
- 38:34Speaker 9: you see your doctor. This public service announcement brought to
- 38:37Speaker 9: you by NewsRadio 570, WKBN, and Ron Verb. It's probably
- 38:45Speaker 9: not funny to the people who have it, right? They're
- 38:47Speaker 9: not laughing about it, all right? But I want you
- 38:49Speaker 9: to be aware of it. Where was the other one?
- 38:54Speaker 9: Mahoning County won't get money for storm cleanups. Oh, yeah?
- 39:01Speaker 9: Let's see. Gertrude Avenue and Boardman on Wednesday looked like
- 39:04Speaker 9: many other township streets lined with branches for pickup after
- 39:08Speaker 9: Sunday's storm. The aftermath dominated the discussion at Wednesday's Boardman
- 39:12Speaker 9: Township Trustee Meeting, where they learned not to expect any
- 39:15Speaker 9: money from the state or federal government. Zach Williams of
- 39:18Speaker 9: the Monning County Emergency Management Agency told Boardman trustees not
- 39:21Speaker 9: to expect any money for state or federal governments to
- 39:24Speaker 9: help with cleanup after Sunday's storm. The federal government requires
- 39:27Speaker 9: that at least 24 houses sustain 40 damage and that
- 39:30Speaker 9: they are uninsured. Okay, so you need houses that have 40%
- 39:36Speaker 9: damage and uninsured. Shame on you for being responsible for
- 39:41Speaker 9: having insurance. What kind of criteria is that? Oh, we've
- 39:45Speaker 9: got to have 40% damage and your house has to
- 39:47Speaker 9: be uninsured.
- 39:48Speaker 2: What kind of load of crap is that? And I
- 39:50Speaker 2: don't mean explosive diarrhea.
- 39:52Speaker 9: We don't have that much damage to meet those directives
- 39:55Speaker 9: that they need, Williams said. Right now, we are not
- 39:58Speaker 9: really seeing those stats meeting their standards. Williams said most
- 40:01Speaker 9: of the county's power should be restored by 11 p.m.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Wednesday.
- 40:05Speaker 9: A buddy of mine called me and said he just
- 40:07Speaker 9: got back today, except for Fairway Drive area of Canfield,
- 40:13Speaker 9: which could be out until the weekend. And God help
- 40:16Speaker 9: you people with trying to sleep without air conditioning. We
- 40:20Speaker 9: are down to under 800 residents who left in a
- 40:24Speaker 9: county that are without power. So we're doing pretty good
- 40:27Speaker 9: where we started with over 23,000. They got 400 calls
- 40:32Speaker 9: of fire chiefs said for service.
- 40:34Speaker 2: But other.
- 40:37Speaker 9: Issues surprised me even more. It still amazes me that
- 40:40Speaker 9: there were no injuries treated by us or Lane Ambulance
- 40:43Speaker 9: from the storm. And we had trees down on cars.
- 40:46Speaker 9: We had people stuck in high water. Steve Iacovone joined
- 40:50Speaker 9: his fellow trustees in complimenting how the employees of Board
- 40:53Speaker 9: of Intentions handled the aftermath. It doesn't look like the
- 40:56Speaker 9: tornado blew through here. And it's been three days to
- 41:01Speaker 9: see how everyone stepped up in a time of crisis.
- 41:04Speaker 9: It was truly amazing. It's going to take weeks and
- 41:06Speaker 9: possibly even months or two in order to get all
- 41:09Speaker 9: that cleaned up. Well, that's nice to hear. Like I say,
- 41:14Speaker 9: you've got to salute all these people, man. You've got
- 41:16Speaker 9: to salute Ohio Edison and all the subcontractors, man, getting
- 41:20Speaker 9: the poles back up to power up, and all the
- 41:22Speaker 9: tree company guys that are cleaning this up.
- 41:25Speaker 2: You're on the.
- 41:28Speaker 4: Air.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:29Speaker 11: Hey, Ron.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Yes. It's Bubba Ganoush. So you're saying when you listen
- 41:36Speaker 2: to my program, you get those symptoms?
- 41:38Speaker 11: Listening to the program.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Well, that's interesting. I mean, I'm surprised.
- 41:45Speaker 9: It probably won't be a very long phone call, and
- 41:47Speaker 9: you'll probably have to make your point and hang up
- 41:49Speaker 9: and go relieve yourself.
- 41:51Speaker 4: Oh, come on now. You pick on me? I give
- 41:54Speaker 4: you one back.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Well, you know, you're hurting my feelings. I need a
- 41:58Speaker 2: hug now. I need a hug.
- 41:59Speaker 4: You don't have any feelings, Ron.
- 42:01Speaker 2: I need a hug. You've got to give me a hug.
- 42:03Speaker 2: You hurt my feelings.
- 42:05Speaker 4: I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll call JJ and
- 42:07Speaker 4: have him come over and give me a big hug.
- 42:09Speaker 4: And then maybe draw you a picture.
- 42:11Speaker 2: All right. Actually, he's not a bad artist in all seriousness.
- 42:14Speaker 2: I've seen some of his stuff.
- 42:16Speaker 4: By the way, I haven't been on in a while.
- 42:18Speaker 11: I know.
- 42:20Speaker 9: I was concerned that maybe you were trapped somewhere as
- 42:22Speaker 9: a result of the storm.
- 42:24Speaker 4: No, not at all. I didn't get hit. I said
- 42:27Speaker 4: the art father drew Hill marriage when I came in,
- 42:30Speaker 4: and I got nothing. Just a few sticks in my driveway,
- 42:33Speaker 4: and that's it. Yeah.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Do you live in Boardman?
- 42:37Speaker 4: No.
- 42:38Speaker 11: I live in..
- 42:40Speaker 4: I live in Austin Town, Mill Creek. But it came through.
- 42:44Speaker 4: The winds are over 70-something miles an hour.
- 42:47Speaker 11: They were hard.
- 42:48Speaker 2: I didn't know you lived in Austin. You've got to live.
- 42:51Speaker 2: What's your zip code?
- 42:53Speaker 1: 44511?
- 42:53Speaker 2: No, 09. Well, then that's not an Austin Town zip code.
- 42:58Speaker 4: No, I said Mill Creek Park near Austin Town, west side.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Okay.
- 43:03Speaker 9: So for just a minute, I thought you said you
- 43:06Speaker 9: lived in Austin Town. And I thought if that was true,
- 43:08Speaker 9: I'd have to put the house up for sale. I
- 43:12Speaker 9: guess I'd go home and I'd say to my wife,
- 43:14Speaker 9: I would say, I would say to my wife, there
- 43:17Speaker 9: goes the neighborhood. Bubba Ganoush is here.
- 43:19Speaker 4: Did you see what you just did?
- 43:22Speaker 2: I just, I listen to him just teasing. Okay. Grow
- 43:25Speaker 2: a pair.
- 43:26Speaker 4: Well, I was teasing too. About the diarrhea.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:32Speaker 4: By the way, guess who bring that in?
- 43:36Speaker 2: Uh, well, I, I don't know. It's, it's from your lettuce.
- 43:41Speaker 4: That's illegal.
- 43:42Speaker 2: You shouldn't be eating lettuce. I mean, you know, it's... Oh,
- 43:46Speaker 2: I don't know about that. It's from your lettuce.
- 43:54Speaker 9: I'm just trying to go through everything on what's going
- 43:56Speaker 9: on in this community, you know, to see what..
- 44:01Speaker 2: Okay, go ahead. What contribution do you have to make
- 44:04Speaker 2: to the broadcast?
- 44:05Speaker 5: Okay.
- 44:06Speaker 4: Trump hit... Trump hit..
- 44:11Speaker 2: I ran. Do me a favor. Do me a favor.
- 44:15Speaker 9: Pick up your phone so I can hear you clearer. Okay,
- 44:19Speaker 9: this is where that guy said this. Okay, so I'm
- 44:21Speaker 9: going to listen to this story. So let's see. In
- 44:26Speaker 9: a filing this week in federal court, Schwebel's Baking Company
- 44:29Speaker 9: indicated to a judge that it has a potential buyer.
- 44:32Speaker 4: Yes, his name is Eddie O'Neill.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Now, why does the guy say that rumor has it
- 44:37Speaker 2: it's Ed O'Neill?
- 44:39Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right. Eddie loves this town. Maybe he wants
- 44:42Speaker 4: to buy it so he can hang out with Ray
- 44:46Speaker 4: Boom Boom Mancini and the rest of his buddies.
- 44:49Speaker 9: Schwebel's indicated during a Tuesday conference call that they have
- 44:52Speaker 9: a potential buyer and may need to go through Chapter
- 44:55Speaker 9: 11 bankruptcy process for the sale. Defendant Schwebel's Baking Company
- 44:58Speaker 9: indicated that may need to go through expiated Chapter 11
- 45:02Speaker 9: bankruptcy process to achieve a sale of its business to
- 45:05Speaker 9: a potential buyer. There is presently a potential buyer for
- 45:09Speaker 9: defendant Schwebel's Baking Company and the parties to this litigation
- 45:13Speaker 9: are in discussion to determine. Okay, so that's what they say.
- 45:16Speaker 9: So then how would this person that emailed me... and
- 45:19Speaker 9: you know who you are, explain it to me, said,
- 45:21Speaker 9: you heard it here first, rumor, rumor, they say, has
- 45:25Speaker 9: it that Ed O'Neill is the potential buyer of Schwebel's.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Well, how would they know that? How would you know that?
- 45:31Speaker 2: How would anybody know that? How do you know I'm
- 45:35Speaker 2: not the potential buyer of Schwebel's?
- 45:37Speaker 4: Stop. Listen to me. Listen to me.
- 45:41Speaker 2: I don't care about that. How do you know I'm
- 45:42Speaker 2: not the potential buyer?
- 45:45Speaker 4: Yeah, Ron. Yeah, Ron. You? You've got to be kidding me.
- 45:48Speaker 4: You've never ran a business before?
- 45:51Speaker 2: All my life. I know. I know.
- 45:54Speaker 4: You ran a business.
- 45:55Speaker 9: Okay, but I mean, when you take a look at Schwebel's,
- 45:59Speaker 9: I hope there is a potential buyer. I'm saddened to
- 46:04Speaker 9: see it go. I mean, it seemed to me you
- 46:06Speaker 9: should be able to turn that place around. I mean,
- 46:08Speaker 9: they've got a lot of customers.
- 46:09Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 46:09Speaker 4: You should be happy as hell, Ron.
- 46:12Speaker 2: But I would like to know where that rumor started.
- 46:16Speaker 4: All right. You won't listen to me.
- 46:18Speaker 5: All right.
- 46:18Speaker 2: What do you have to say? I'm listening.
- 46:21Speaker 4: All right. Eddie was born over here on the north side.
- 46:25Speaker 2: I know that.
- 46:26Speaker 4: All right. He's good friends with a lot of the
- 46:30Speaker 4: people in this community.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Yeah, so?
- 46:32Speaker 4: He could come down to Cedars all the time. He
- 46:34Speaker 4: was good friends with my brother Tom.
- 46:36Speaker 2: All right, so?
- 46:38Speaker 4: And he comes to the Golden Dawn a lot.
- 46:41Speaker 2: So what's that got to do with buying Schwebel's?
- 46:44Speaker 4: He loves this community. When he heard about that many
- 46:48Speaker 4: workers being laid off, he said, you know what? I
- 46:51Speaker 4: got the money. Let's do it.
- 46:56Speaker 2: Well, I'll be curious if that's true. I mean, I
- 46:59Speaker 2: don't know how people find that stuff out. I want
- 47:00Speaker 2: to know how they find that out. I really want
- 47:02Speaker 2: to know. Because, I mean, that would be kind of cool.
- 47:05Speaker 4: Could I ask you something? If you knew somebody that
- 47:10Speaker 4: became famous..
- 47:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I do.
- 47:12Speaker 4: And they kept in touch with you.
- 47:14Speaker 2: I do. It's a guy named J.J. the Liberal.
- 47:18Speaker 4: All right, and they kept in touch with you. All
- 47:19Speaker 4: of a sudden, they mention you. Hey, listen, Ron, I
- 47:23Speaker 4: think I'll buy that because I can't see that many workers,
- 47:27Speaker 4: thousands of workers being out of work.
- 47:29Speaker 2: It's not thousands of workers. They don't have that many employees.
- 47:33Speaker 4: Well, it's not just young people.
- 47:34Speaker 9: They have hundreds of workers, not thousands.
- 47:37Speaker 4: All right, well, they've got thousands. It's Youngstown and Cleveland.
- 47:41Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 47:43Speaker 9: Okay, so let's say they got a few hundred. But whatever.
- 47:47Speaker 9: I hope it survives. So you're saying that he might
- 47:50Speaker 9: have said it to a friend. I just want to
- 47:51Speaker 9: know how that got out there. And you don't know.
- 47:53Speaker 4: All right.
- 47:55Speaker 2: All right, but you're saying this is a possibility.
- 47:59Speaker 4: I believe it because he loves his community.
- 48:02Speaker 9: Well, I love this community, too, and I'm not buying Schwebel's.
- 48:07Speaker 9: You love this community, and you're not buying Schwebel's.
- 48:10Speaker 4: Yeah, but you couldn't afford that kind of money, right?
- 48:12Speaker 2: You're absolutely right. No, you got me there. All right.
- 48:16Speaker 4: But listen.
- 48:17Speaker 2: I got to go.
- 48:18Speaker 4: Since he knows a lot of people, he can collaborate
- 48:22Speaker 4: with their money as well.
- 48:24Speaker 9: All right.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Thank you for your call. I'm glad you're safe. I've
- 48:26Speaker 2: been worried sick about you, okay?
- 48:28Speaker 4: Now, what about Iran?
- 48:30Speaker 2: We'll deal with that tomorrow. You're on the air. Wait
- 48:35Speaker 2: a second. You're on the air.
- 48:37Speaker 5: Hey, Ron.
- 48:38Speaker 4: Yes. CQDX, buddy.
- 48:41Speaker 2: CQDX to you, my friends.
- 48:44Speaker 3: Hi.
- 48:44Speaker 5: I want to tell you a little bit about Sunday.
- 48:47Speaker 5: We were at my sister's there, right in the middle
- 48:50Speaker 5: of that mess, off of West Boulevard, in the swimming pool.
- 48:54Speaker 5: And that wind started, and that train howl noise started.
- 48:59Speaker 5: And it kept getting worse and worse, and I told
- 49:01Speaker 5: to get every kid in the house. He got them
- 49:04Speaker 5: in the basement, and I watched the The entire backyard
- 49:07Speaker 5: trees fold over, and that wind just kept picking up,
- 49:11Speaker 5: and that noise kept escalating. And then about 15 minutes,
- 49:15Speaker 5: it was gone. But, I mean, it destroyed that neighborhood
- 49:18Speaker 5: over there pretty bad.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Now, where were you in the pool at?
- 49:22Speaker 5: We were off of Gulfview, off West Boulevard.
- 49:27Speaker 2: And everybody had terrible damage. Oh, yeah. So you were
- 49:31Speaker 2: smart enough to say. I give my own county credit.
- 49:35Speaker 9: I mean, I heard the tornado sirens loud and clear,
- 49:37Speaker 9: and they went off several times. And, I mean, thank
- 49:41Speaker 9: God for those tornado sirens. But you were smart enough
- 49:43Speaker 9: to say everybody out of the pool and get in
- 49:45Speaker 9: the basement.
- 49:46Speaker 5: Well, that unmistakable noise of a train whistle, and it
- 49:51Speaker 5: kept increasing, and I said, I can't see it, so it's.
- 49:55Speaker 4: Time to get in the basement.
- 49:57Speaker 6: Right.
- 49:58Speaker 5: But the reason I'm calling you is to, I would
- 50:02Speaker 5: like to give credit, all of those neighborhoods over there
- 50:07Speaker 5: were trashed.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Yes.
- 50:08Speaker 5: Sixth is the debris on the yards.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Yep.
- 50:11Speaker 5: This truck pulls up with some people in it, and
- 50:14Speaker 5: they get out and they say, could we clean your
- 50:17Speaker 5: yard for you? And you go, well, how much?
- 50:20Speaker 4: And they said, no cost.
- 50:22Speaker 5: And they raked all this debris of all the people
- 50:26Speaker 5: on the street that they can get to out to
- 50:28Speaker 5: the edge of the street, and your yard looked like
- 50:32Speaker 5: nothing ever happened.
- 50:33Speaker 2: And who were these people?
- 50:35Speaker 5: Well, I'm going to give you that here one second.
- 50:37Speaker 2: Well, come on, Grandpa. I only got so much time.
- 50:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:41Speaker 5: It turns out to be the Van Pelt family from
- 50:44Speaker 5: the Pleasant Valley Church, Germantown Road. And they came up
- 50:50Speaker 5: there and helped all these people clean their yards.
- 50:52Speaker 2: So you're telling me this was just a family that
- 50:54Speaker 2: showed up?
- 50:56Speaker 4: Yeah. Yep.
- 50:57Speaker 2: What was the name of the family? I mean, this
- 50:59Speaker 2: is really a hell of a story.
- 51:01Speaker 5: Yeah, the Van Pelt family.
- 51:03Speaker 2: And where are they out of?
- 51:03Speaker 11: They were..
- 51:05Speaker 4: Uh, Columbiana.
- 51:06Speaker 5: Their church was the Pleasant View Church.
- 51:09Speaker 11: And they came up.
- 51:11Speaker 5: And they said they were from there. And they came
- 51:14Speaker 5: up to help.
- 51:15Speaker 2: When did this happen?
- 51:17Speaker 5: Oh, they were there, I think, Monday.
- 51:19Speaker 4: Wow. They were going house to house.
- 51:23Speaker 5: And they literally raked every front yard and pulled all
- 51:27Speaker 5: that debris up.
- 51:28Speaker 4: Good. Back to the curb.
- 51:29Speaker 5: And you wouldn't know anything went on in the yard.
- 51:33Speaker 5: They cleaned it so good.
- 51:34Speaker 2: What great human beings.
- 51:37Speaker 9: How many people would do such an act of kindness
- 51:41Speaker 9: for free in this heat and humidity?
- 51:43Speaker 2: God bless people like that. God bless them.
- 51:46Speaker 5: The neighbors got together. The road was closed. And an
