- 0:12headlines and race recaps to insider analysis and paddock buzz.
- 0:16Whether you are a diehard to foso, a Red Bull loyalist, or just love
- 0:20the thrill of wheel to wheel racing.
- 0:21We've got you covered with UpToDate F1 News delivered at full throttle.
- 0:25Strap in because the lights are out and we're underway.
- 0:28This is formula fanatics.
- 0:40You know, it's a good thing the schedule worked out just so that we weren't able
- 0:44to talk about Japan on the last Formula fanatics episode because this month was
- 0:48devoid of formula wide races due to.
- 0:51The excursion so we can talk about Japan and all the cool things that happened
- 0:56at Suzuka, and finally get the answer to the question everybody's wanted to know.
- 1:01Did Tanya watch the Formula One movie and what does she think?
- 1:05So let's talk about Japan a little bit.
- 1:07It's been a minute.
- 1:08Do we remember the race?
- 1:10Remember I took copious notes for you guys.
- 1:13What race?
- 1:14Japan.
- 1:15I know, I, I, I'm kidding.
- 1:17Who won?
- 1:18Oh, yes.
- 1:18Now I remember who won.
- 1:19Tell me.
- 1:20Who won your boy Kim.
- 1:22That's right.
- 1:25We saw the return of Ptri finally.
- 1:28Yes.
- 1:29Yeah.
- 1:29He led for a little while.
- 1:30Not long enough though.
- 1:31You know what he was doing?
- 1:32He was outrunning the IRS.
- 1:34That's what he was doing.
- 1:35That's why he was hauling ass.
- 1:39Was this the one where he had a horrible start again and it had
- 1:42to make up all the positions?
- 1:43Kimmy fell to like sixth.
- 1:45He was on the pole and he dropped back, like the car turned off on him
- 1:49and everybody went around him and then he had to play catch up and he ended
- 1:51up 14 seconds ahead of Ptri because there was a terrible pit strategy
- 1:56that occurred there somewhere as well.
- 1:58This is the race.
- 2:00Where we were talking about the disparity in speed that caused Beerman's
- 2:06terrible wreck, given that his car virtually like almost fell its face low.
- 2:12Uh, and then No, no, no.
- 2:14It was somebody in front of him and he, it was Okon who dropped Anchor.
- 2:18Yeah.
- 2:19Or was Gly like one of the two of them dropped Anchor because he had zero energy
- 2:23and Beerman made an evasive maneuver and then he ended up hitting the wall.
- 2:27They said at 50 Gs.
- 2:30Yes.
- 2:30That was the impact which he got up and walked away from.
- 2:33I mean not, I mean, he was holding his ankle, but still I'm like,
- 2:36bro, that was a hit from hell.
- 2:39And I watched that replay a bunch and it was just like, wow.
- 2:43Yeah, that was tough to watch.
- 2:45But it brings up a lot of questions about like yeah.
- 2:47The, the, the disparity and the speed and everything.
- 2:50And there's been some rule changes over the last month where it's been dark
- 2:54because of the races in the Middle East.
- 2:56You know, the FIA is saying maybe this 50 50 electric motor
- 2:59thing wasn't such a good idea.
- 3:01Hmm.
- 3:02Really, it's like Volkswagen not listening to its consumers.
- 3:05Like not even ISA and the a CO do a 50 50 split.
- 3:10Like it's always like an 80 20, like the electric is just a turbo
- 3:14basically at the end of the day.
- 3:15And it gets 'em out of the pits and you know, out of the corners and stuff.
- 3:18Like, kind of acts as all wheel drive, you know, that kind thing.
- 3:21This is bonkers and it leads to that Mario Kart bull crap because the same
- 3:25thing happens in a video game, right?
- 3:27Suddenly Donkey Kong drops anchor and you're in the
- 3:29woods and you don't know why.
- 3:31Yeah, it, it looked exactly like a video game.
- 3:33It was, it was nuts.
- 3:35It was K Pinto, that's who was, oh, all those back markers the same, but.
- 3:40Now the cleanup from Beerman's accident.
- 3:44Remember we talked about China, where they like the a hundred year old
- 3:47tractor and like the three old guys with like, I was like, what are we doing?
- 3:52Did you see they had like these eight Japanese gentlemen come out
- 3:56on the track with these handmade.
- 3:58Straw brooms, and they're like sweeping the track.
- 4:01I'm like, have they never heard of street sweepers?
- 4:03Do they not?
- 4:04They don't have these at the track.
- 4:06They can't get one from like Tokyo or from one of the big cities.
- 4:09Right?
- 4:09And bring it to Suzuka to sweep the, they got these guys with their handmade
- 4:13brooms looking like they're from Amish, Pennsylvania, sweeping the track.
- 4:17It was unreal.
- 4:18Took forever.
- 4:19It took forever.
- 4:20And what it ended up causing was that whole thing with the safety car
- 4:24and blah, blah, blah, where Russell got screwed on the pit stop, which.
- 4:28Well deserved Russell because I didn't want you to win anyway.
- 4:32So locks it in.
- 4:35At that point, that was the turning point of the race.
- 4:37That's when Kimmy had it in the bag.
- 4:39Yeah.
- 4:40Now there was a funny quote, if you listen to Russell over the radio
- 4:44after that whole thing, 'cause you know you've seen the pictures.
- 4:46You've seen the memes, you know he's not happy about stuff and you hear it.
- 4:51What was the quote?
- 4:53Crying like a baby, he says.
- 4:56Are we gonna put Kimmy into that place that we trained?
- 5:03It was so cryptic and it was so what?
- 5:06Creepy.
- 5:06That's what he said.
- 5:07Are we gonna put Kimmy into the place that we trained, like we're gonna put him in
- 5:12the sin bin or in the torture chamber?
- 5:14Or so was like bizarre, bizarre plan X or something like, you know what I mean?
- 5:19Yeah.
- 5:19Bonkers, weird.
- 5:21Now Cadillac, what are they doing?
- 5:24Hello.
- 5:25Aston has their own problems, but Cadillac is like complete buffoonery, ery.
- 5:31They start BOTAs on hard tires.
- 5:35BOTAs dead freaking last.
- 5:39Could not be any slower if he tried and he's just like, what are
- 5:42you, what are you buffoons doing?
- 5:44But Perez managed not to take him out, so all right.
- 5:48I mean, all I'm gonna say Audi's still doing better.
- 5:53Terrible.
- 5:55Terrible.
- 5:55Absolutely terrible.
- 5:57I think Cadillac would do better if they just ran the Black Wings, right?
- 6:01They would, if they ran the sedans, they would be doing better than the
- 6:06Formula One cars, especially when they bounce off of each other, him and Perez.
- 6:10Good Lord.
- 6:12Oh yeah.
- 6:13They looked like Days of Thunder, but still, I mean, it'd come
- 6:15out the other side at least.
- 6:16And speaking about coming out the other side, Alonzo finished the race.
- 6:20He finished in 18th, but he finished the race.
- 6:23Wonder how his wrists are doing that.
- 6:25He had a month off.
- 6:26That's why he's, he, he had to give it at his all, you know,
- 6:28it's Japan, you gotta give it your all, you know, it's like a anime.
- 6:32Although stroll retired at lap 31, so he did better than the 25 projected.
- 6:37The safety car helped, you know, the lower speeds of the safety car helped.
- 6:42So Kimmy ends up 14 seconds ahead of Ptri, and then there was a really
- 6:45good battle between Le Claire.
- 6:47And Russell, despite the fake overtake stuff.
- 6:51So there's a good battle for third and fourth there, and then Lando
- 6:54and Hamilton for fifth and sixth.
- 6:56Another little battle going on there.
- 6:58I, for whatever reason, find myself really rooting for Hamilton this year.
- 7:03Tell me why, why is that?
- 7:05I don't know why.
- 7:06Like, I, I like a good comeback story.
- 7:08I guess everybody is trying to say that Hamilton's like at the end of his career.
- 7:12And then I'm, I'm pointing to Eric when I, when I say everybody, so
- 7:16I, I'd like a good comeback story.
- 7:18I'd like to see him come back and, and do the whole I feel you.
- 7:23I feel you.
- 7:23Yeah.
- 7:24Right.
- 7:24But let me add to that.
- 7:26All the chicanery and the shenanigans with that F 40 and Kim Kardashian.
- 7:32Oh my God.
- 7:33Well, apparently let, let's not even be those people because
- 7:37like, I don't know, they're like on the beach together and crap.
- 7:41Like who cares about their personal life?
- 7:43I don't care.
- 7:43No, no, because it's, it's so.
- 7:46In Ferrari's face, like I don't know if he's trying to make a point or
- 7:51whatever, but you can imagine that Mar is not happy with the way he
- 7:55is conducting himself in publisher.
- 7:58But was Marine ever happy?
- 7:59They were happy with Schumacher.
- 8:00When was the last time they were happy Schumacher?
- 8:02They were happy.
- 8:03So 2002.
- 8:04Well, uh, anyway, early two thousands, maybe.
- 8:07Maybe the other Kimmy, because he was like the ice man.
- 8:10He never did anything wrong.
- 8:11You know what I mean?
- 8:11Kimmy Renan did, he just didn't give a fuck.
- 8:15But my point is Ferrari.
- 8:17It's Ferrari, right?
- 8:18And it's like.
- 8:19He's running around in an F 40, which I mean, mad props.
- 8:22I mean, if I had an F 40, I'd be driving it too.
- 8:25But that's like these videos with the drone and him drifting through a
- 8:28parking garage and then she's in the car and like all this, this stuff.
- 8:31And I'm like, what does this say?
- 8:33What what, what are you trying to do?
- 8:34And then, I don't know.
- 8:36So he's done it before.
- 8:39Other cars, but now he is done it in the Ferrari.
- 8:41So does he just add, is he added to the list?
- 8:44Apparently this is, I think the third time he's done those stunts in Japan.
- 8:50I don't know, I dunno, it just sits weird with me.
- 8:52I, I just don't, I can't put my finger on why it just feels wrong.
- 8:55I feel that he probably talked to Ferrari about it.
- 9:00They knew about it from his, I don't think so.
- 9:03Past, and they were probably okay.
- 9:06They, he probably got their blessing is my guess.
- 9:08I don't think so at all.
- 9:09'cause I think there's been comments made about how they don't like
- 9:13his behavior outside the track.
- 9:15Then they shouldn't have signed him because he wasn't anything he was doing.
- 9:18Anything he's doing now is not stuff that he wasn't doing before.
- 9:22Well, yeah, yeah, of course, of course.
- 9:23So then that's shame on them, not shame on him.
- 9:25Maybe Toto had a slightly, you know, he was even as uptight as he is,
- 9:29maybe he was better okay with it.
- 9:31So Nigel Mansel.
- 9:33Has been quoted.
- 9:34Oh boy.
- 9:35Here we go.
- 9:38Good.
- 9:39The lion.
- 9:40So mantle in talking about an eighth championship for Hamilton, he's quoted
- 9:45saying, I'm going to be romantic.
- 9:47I'd like Lewis to do it.
- 9:49Good said through his broom mustache.
- 9:52So he would like to see an eight time world champion in Louis Hamilton.
- 9:57It'd be the first eight time world champion.
- 10:00It's a senior driver showing up the younger drivers half his age.
- 10:07It, it makes for a good story pretty much.
- 10:10Right.
- 10:11It makes for the next F1 movie, which is possibly a development.
- 10:15Yeah.
- 10:16Yeah.
- 10:17Who's gonna hang their hat on that the most, who benefits the
- 10:20most Ferrari benefits the most?
- 10:22Because then they can say, we had two of the most winningest F1 champions ever.
- 10:28That would be Schumacher, of course, and Hamilton at that point.
- 10:31But Mercedes claims 99% of it.
- 10:34Like, come on, guys.
- 10:36Like really?
- 10:36Like, I don't know.
- 10:37Personally, I don't think it matters if Hamilton wins an eighth.
- 10:41I, I'm kind of like with where it's like.
- 10:44If you won one or you won four or you won eight, it sort of
- 10:47really makes no difference.
- 10:48You still won a championship, kind of move on with life.
- 10:52So is Lando super awesome?
- 10:53'cause he is won his one championship.
- 10:55He's better than stroll.
- 10:56Uh, okay.
- 10:57I'll agree with Brad on that.
- 10:59My personal feelings towards Lando, like, eh, that whole season was a, I
- 11:03don't know that it felt like collusion.
- 11:05He's, he's won, he is won world championship.
- 11:07He's just as good as everybody else.
- 11:08Yes, and he probably will never win one again like Kiki
- 11:12Rossberg or some of the others.
- 11:14But it doesn't matter that he doesn't win another one again, he's won one.
- 11:17If you've won one or two or four or eight.
- 11:20It's all the same.
- 11:20I agree.
- 11:21So why does Hamilton need to reach for eight?
- 11:23That's the question.
- 11:24I don't think it's the same.
- 11:27Don't think it's the same.
- 11:29I don't wanna make the comparison, but to me, I feel like if you push
- 11:33your luck and it's different, right?
- 11:34This is a weird analogy, but it's sort of like the Lindsay Vaughn thing where it's
- 11:38like Hamilton's sort of like Lindsay, like can you get to a point where you're
- 11:42like, dude, is it really worth it?
- 11:44I don't think that's a good comparison.
- 11:47Actually, I kind, I kind think that's fairly accurate.
- 11:50I don't think he's acting reckless.
- 11:52Not to say she was being reckless, but I don't think he's, he's out
- 11:56there being a reckless driver.
- 11:58No, I mean he's, he's fairly competitive and I think Lindsey Wong was.
- 12:02Fairly competitive even.
- 12:04But Lindsay, Yvonne went into the Olympics being a world champion.
- 12:07Yeah.
- 12:08After several years of retirement and at her age of 40 or 41 years
- 12:12old, she was at the top of her game.
- 12:14And a ton of injuries too.
- 12:15Like she had a ton of injuries and stuff.
- 12:17Yeah.
- 12:17While having recovered from past injuries, et cetera.
- 12:20So for people that criticized her, she shouldn't have been there.
- 12:23Why was she ranked number one then against people half her age?
- 12:26You know what I'm saying?
- 12:27It was a very unfortunate accident that she had that was almost like a fluke.
- 12:30She made a poor decision, which arguably you could say Hamilton
- 12:34could make a poor passing negotiation error, but even any of them could.
- 12:39Any of them could right now with this stupid speed disparity.
- 12:43Oh yeah.
- 12:43100s.
- 12:43Exactly what happened to Beerman.
- 12:45Yeah.
- 12:45If Stroll's allowed to be out there, then there's absolutely zero reason why
- 12:49Hamilton can't be out there, I guess.
- 12:52So there's no reason why even Nigel Mansel can't be out there if stroll's out there.
- 12:57How many people is Lewis taken out?
- 13:00How many people has Lance taken out?
- 13:02Yes.
- 13:03I can't disagree with that.
- 13:04I mean, absolutely.
- 13:05That that's a statistic they need to add.
- 13:07How many people has Lance taken out and who is he taken out the most?
- 13:11His teammate or somebody else?
- 13:14Yeah.
- 13:14Well, yeah.
- 13:14Okay.
- 13:14So Alonzo's got the most, I've got another question for you.
- 13:17Oh, boy.
- 13:18Who is better at their craft?
- 13:21Lance Stroll or Volkswagen?
- 13:25Ooh.
- 13:25Ooh.
- 13:27That might go to Lance.
- 13:32Uh, who's got my money?
- 13:35Land Stroller.
- 13:36Volkswagen.
- 13:37I guess to wrap up that thought, though, I could care less if Hamilton wins or loses.
- 13:43It's sort of the same in the end, you know what I mean?
- 13:46Because I feel like he doesn't have anything left to prove in Formula
- 13:49One other than this one thing.
- 13:52I feel like he wasted time, especially in the seasons leading up to this, where
- 13:56he really wasn't doing Jack of all and he could have enjoyed motor sport elsewhere.
- 14:02He's already a multimillionaire.
- 14:04Go do Lama, go do touring car, go do something else.
- 14:08Maybe he's not interested.
- 14:09So, but the thing is, and it's, it's a weird thing to say, but if you're that
- 14:13good, at least go after the Triple Crown.
- 14:17No, the Triple Crown hasn't been taken away from Graham Hill.
- 14:22It hasn't been done since the sixties where somebody won LAMA
- 14:26Formula One and the Indy 500.
- 14:29Hamilton should have shot for that because it would've put him
- 14:31in a totally no different league.
- 14:33No.
- 14:34No, imagine the pressure you're under.
- 14:38Everyone expects that you can go be Triple Crown and then you fucking do shit.
- 14:43That's what happened to Alonzo.
- 14:44He got two outta three.
- 14:46He was driving Hondas though, two outta three for Alonzo.
- 14:49But Alonzo tried.
- 14:51At least he tried.
- 14:52I don't think like rooting for Hamilton means I want him to win a championship.
- 14:57I don't really care about that.
- 14:58But I do enjoy seeing him be more competitive, like in his battles
- 15:03with Russell or, or not Russell, his battles with the cleric.
- 15:06I mean, that's some of the best racing like I've seen in a long time.
- 15:10And then just, just seeing him be in like the, the top five or whatever and watching
- 15:15him get a podium every once in a while.
- 15:16It's, it, it, it excites me.
- 15:18I like it.
- 15:18The problem is this competitive racing that we're seeing is
- 15:22like, it's not competitive.
- 15:23It's bullshit.
- 15:24Yeah.
- 15:25It looks really cool.
- 15:25'cause it's like, wow, there's actually something happening.
- 15:27It's not just Parade Labs, but then it's artificial.
- 15:29'cause it's like, oh, let me pass you 'cause my battery's charged.
- 15:32Oh, now you pass me your battery's charged.
- 15:34And it's like.
- 15:35Would it be that competitive if we didn't have these batteries?
- 15:38No, I still think he would be, he and cleric would still
- 15:42be battling with each other.
- 15:43I don't think so.
- 15:44I guess we're gonna find out since they changed the regulations.
- 15:47Yeah, we're gonna find out at the next race.
- 15:48Although the next race is trash anyway.
- 15:49'cause Miami's a terrible track, so.
- 15:51Oh, it's horrendous.
- 15:52Yeah.
- 15:52But, but we do have the one after that to look for, which is
- 15:56the potato, I mean, uh, Canada.
- 15:58Let's hope that Lando makes a pass on the outside of Ptri again, and
- 16:01this time, you know, whatever.
- 16:03Uh, yeah, the whole super clipping thing and all the energy management
- 16:06changes and they've made a whole bunch of changes to the cars in
- 16:10the month that they've been off.
- 16:11So.
- 16:12Are we gonna see anything really change at the end of the day that,
- 16:15uh, this season is just, oh, and the rumors are Ferrari's done Some
- 16:18upgrades, so, oh boy, in the upgrade, the second little spoiler to the halo.
- 16:23Is that what they've done?
- 16:24So we'll see how left side and right side.
- 16:26Oh, adjustable left shark, right Shark?
- 16:29Yeah.
- 16:30We still don't have that rotating spoiler that they showed in the preseason.
- 16:45So to wrap up Suzuka, Tanya, where did Audi finish?
- 16:49Uh, I think 11 and 13.
- 16:50Solidly in the middle.
- 16:52Solidly sucking.
- 16:53Yep.
- 16:54No.
- 16:55I don't know why you're saying that for a first time out team in Formula
- 16:59One and they're solidly in the middle, I don't think that's that bad.
- 17:04Everyone thought Cadillac was gonna come out and be at the front and they're
- 17:07fucking dead last getting lapped.
- 17:10They are, unfortunately, the laughing stock, they're kind of
- 17:13where Haas was like 20 years ago.
- 17:14You know what I mean?
- 17:15It's like terrible.
- 17:16The Americans don't belong at F1.
- 17:18I guess the American manufacturers, the American teams don't belong at F1
- 17:22and they're doing better than Williams.
- 17:25I mean, barely bare.
- 17:27Doesn't matter.
- 17:28I mean, I think to think they were gonna be one, two suddenly first time
- 17:33out, I don't think was realistic.
- 17:35But I think being in the middle and actually.
- 17:38Fighting for points and having and getting points.
- 17:41Actually, I don't think that's a bad place to be for like the third race.
- 17:46That's better than DN Fing constantly, especially given their mediocre drivers.
- 17:51There's that too, right?
- 17:53So, but here's the question.
- 17:55How long can Volkswagen afford to have Audi running in 10th place?
- 18:01Basically, Volkswagen can't afford it now.
- 18:03They shouldn't even be doing it now.
- 18:05Yes, a thousand percent.
- 18:07Okay.
- 18:08So does it really matter that we're excited about Audi when there's the
- 18:12high probability that they won't last two seasons, but maybe this
- 18:16is one of those things where like you build a company to sell it.
- 18:19Maybe they're building the Audi F1 team to sell.
- 18:22Although it's Salur, isn't it?
- 18:23It's it's, they just got their name on it, so yeah.
- 18:26More F1 teams that don't really deserve to be there.
- 18:30They should have died out just like Williams 30 years ago.
- 18:33Yeah.
- 18:33Yeah.
- 18:33Like whatever.
- 18:34So I don't know that that's the disappointing part.
- 18:37That's why I keep going there because we're excited, but it's like meh.
- 18:42It's all meh.
- 18:42And Audi's only doing okay because the astons are falling apart.
- 18:48The Cadillacs are garbage.
- 18:49So that's four cars that are out of their way.
- 18:52So if we count up from what, 22, we're already guaranteed to be an 18?
- 18:56No, but it doesn't matter.
- 18:57That just means that Audi's engineers are doing a better job.
- 19:02Then the, the great Adrian Newey at Aston Martin, whose car is a
- 19:05fucking piece of trash, and Cadillac, who's so good everywhere else,
- 19:09and their car is hot garbage also.
- 19:11So what does that mean?
- 19:12Are the Audis doing that?
- 19:14Well, because Bono keeps saying that there's problems with the power units.
- 19:18Bono's an idiot also.
- 19:20So there's that.
- 19:23Hey, he's in charge now.
- 19:24Okay.
- 19:25He's in charge, he's setting expectations for when he ruins the team.
- 19:30He's looking for an excuse.
- 19:31He's, he's the racer excuse.
- 19:33So when he stars in the third Ghostbusters movie, like, what, what, what do we, and
- 19:37maybe there are, maybe there are power unit issues that are causing them to be in
- 19:42the middle of the pack, which if they're still in the middle of the pack with power
- 19:45unit issues, that's pretty impressive.
- 19:47They keep using those two liter turbos.
- 19:49That's the problem.
- 19:50Right.
- 19:50We already know there's an issue with them.
- 19:51So they got a 1.8 T in there.
- 19:53That's why they're in the middle of the pack.
- 19:55Well, yeah.
- 19:56Everybody else is running six cylinder and they're running,
- 19:59they need to run a VR six.
- 20:00Yeah, they need to put that 3.2 in there from the beetle TSI or RSI.
- 20:04Yeah, a hundred percent.
- 20:05It's, it's just disappointing.
- 20:07It really is.
- 20:08I, I also think that had Audi had the opportunity to have better drivers,
- 20:13to Brad's point, they'd be doing better probably out of the gate.
- 20:16'cause I don't think Bline and Holgenburg have it in them to go any
- 20:20higher than where they're, or even if they had a better team principle.
- 20:24I mean, what if they had Christian Horner?
- 20:27Dude, I read that.
- 20:28I thought that was an April Fools joke.
- 20:30Like for real.
- 20:31Like I was like, you have got to be kidding me.
- 20:34The headline Audi rules out Christian Horner as the F1 lead.
- 20:37That man is Unhirable.
- 20:40Like you think if Audi stooped to that level and hired Christian Horner,
- 20:45what would that say about them?
- 20:47Would you feel the same way, Tanya?
- 20:49If Christian Horner was the principle, I mean, it would not look good.
- 20:53It would not look good.
- 20:54But see, look how good they're doing.
- 20:57They're rejecting Satan be gone.
- 21:01They've welcomed Jesus Christ into their hearts and into their lives.
- 21:03Oh, can you imagine Christian Horner at Audi?
- 21:07Like what?
- 21:08What?
- 21:09He must be pretty desperate.
- 21:10They would be after he, I'm telling you, he's Unhirable.
- 21:12He's never gonna have a job before one ever again.
- 21:14He's gonna end up at Cadillac.
- 21:16You know, they might just stoop to that level
- 21:25and they'll, they'll, they'll bring Gunther Steiner back to
- 21:27his, uh, uh, vice principal.
- 21:30So Miami's a wash because it's like Monte Carlo, where you qualify
- 21:34is where you're gonna finish.
- 21:35So that's the end of that.
- 21:36How do we think Audi's gonna do at Canada, which is actually a pretty fast track.
- 21:42Better than catalog.
- 21:43It's hard to say.
- 21:44Well, yeah, yeah.
- 21:45Better, better than Cadillac.
- 21:46They're better than stroll.
- 21:48Where we, we've really set the bar high.
- 21:51We don't know what the, what the, the changes from the
- 21:54regulations are going to Right.
- 21:56Bring for them.
- 21:58I say they end up where they're, where they've been ending up middle of the pack.
- 22:01See, and I, and I think you're onto something, Brad.
- 22:03I think that's where Miami, we're gonna see more of the same, or we're not gonna
- 22:07really tell if the regulations have made a difference because Miami is so tight.
- 22:12It's got those little bursts of short straightaways, but then it's all,
- 22:15you know, rinky-dink, like you're driving around a parking lot, you
- 22:18are driving around a parking lot.
- 22:20Well, yeah, but literally what I'm getting at is, what I'm getting at
- 22:22is you're not gonna see the effect of the changes that they made.
- 22:26So Canada and the races after that, the, the faster races, the European
- 22:30races are gonna be more telling if these regulations actually
- 22:33made a hill of beans a difference.
- 22:35Yeah, maybe we will see the impact.
- 22:37'cause there won't be some massive crash Is stroll in the race?
- 22:41Oh, I guarantee you there'll be a massive crash then there's still
- 22:43potential for a massive crash.
- 22:45Amen to that dude.
- 22:46Every, it's like rolling the, it's like rolling the
- 22:48Dungeons and Dragons here, man.
- 22:50Let's just roll the dice.
- 22:51Let's go roll for initiative.
- 22:54Roll for Destruction.
- 22:55Lance Stroll.
- 22:56That's gonna be my d and d character.
- 22:58Now I name him Stroll.
- 22:59What do you think he, he always rolls a 20 Infinite death.
- 23:04Oh boy.
- 23:05Alright, so the question that's been on everybody's mind for six months.
- 23:11Oh man.
- 23:11Keep people up at night.
- 23:13Yeah.
- 23:14Yeah.
- 23:14The F1 movie.
- 23:15Did you watch it?
- 23:16I watched the majority of it.
- 23:19Wait, what does that mean?
- 23:22I fell asleep.
- 23:25So, so, so Tanya got A-D-N-F-I fell asleep.
- 23:31In the second, in a, in a portion of the second half.
- 23:35Oh man.
- 23:35It was that riveting.
- 23:36Huh?
- 23:37So I'm not really sure what I missed, but I don't think I missed a lot.
- 23:41You, you didn't miss anything.
- 23:43And, and I barely remember the movie.
- 23:48It was that good.
- 23:49It was that good.
- 23:51It was stupid premise.
- 23:54It was unrealistic, but the CGI and the real footage and the actual
- 24:00F1 drivers that don't drive for F1 anymore, and Christian Horner was in it.
- 24:06Immediately dated like a Child to Survive episode it.
- 24:12Okay.
- 24:12Was it the retelling of Days of Thunder or not?
- 24:16Mm. With a little bit of Grand Smo thrown in?
- 24:18No, it was more the retelling of Driven.
- 24:20Yeah.
- 24:21I'll give you that.
- 24:21Just Stallone movie.
- 24:22No.
- 24:23'cause there wasn't Days of Thunder, wasn't a redemption story of some.
- 24:27Washed out.
- 24:28Older driver.
- 24:30Yeah.
- 24:30But then we had the kid, we had the Louis Hamilton guy in it too.
- 24:33Remember his His teammate?
- 24:35Yeah.
- 24:35And that guy was an obnoxious.
- 24:37So I mean, there were definitely points in the movie that just
- 24:41were like, so stupid, eh?
- 24:43What was it like one point?
- 24:45In the racing, Brad Pitt's character, Sonny, he starts wrecking the other cars
- 24:50to get like red flag or safety cars.
- 24:53So then that way the other dude was moving up.
- 24:55I'm like, bull fucking shit.
- 24:56The second time that happened, your ass would be black flagged and fucking
- 24:59off the track like the, that was such fantasy and didn't make any sense.
- 25:03I don't know, like stuff like that just takes away, it's like this is unrealistic.
- 25:07This is such a farce.
- 25:08And it's like it's the ha car from like several years ago suddenly
- 25:11go, being able to be in like I'm right behind max for stepping.
- 25:15No you're not.
- 25:15You're right behind him.
- 25:16'cause he just lapped you.
- 25:23So what you're saying is you really enjoyed this movie.
- 25:26I mean, it was fine.
- 25:27If you check your brain at the door as a motorsport enthusiast, then
- 25:30yet you are a hundred percent right.
- 25:32I mean, cinematically, it was nicely done.
- 25:35I mean, I'll give it that, right?
- 25:36Like all that and, and the camera angles and blah, blah, blah.
- 25:42But I mean, you really have to like suspend reality a little bit and just
- 25:47take it as a movie that, you know, it's, it's fantasy and all that.
- 25:51Because again, like the storyline is unrealistic, right?
- 25:54He was a 20 something hot shot who had some major shunt.
- 25:58I don't even remember what caused it that.
- 26:01Then he was basically broke his back in 15 places and that was the end of his
- 26:05career and he was supposed to be the next.
- 26:07Michael Schumacher, sna even raced against them.
- 26:11Sounds like the beginning of the last chase.
- 26:13Remember how that started?
- 26:14There's no Burgess Meredith in this though.
- 26:17Yeah, I did like Javier Barnum's character though.
- 26:19He plays, you know, one of the typical Italian team principles, not Bento.
- 26:24Definitely I liked his character.
- 26:26That was like probably my favorite guy.
- 26:27Movie, I would've needed to have re-watched it again.
- 26:30No, it's two and a half hours of your life.
- 26:32You didn't get back the first time.
- 26:33It was, and that's why I fell asleep and I watched it on a
- 26:35plane, so, oh, that's awful.
- 26:38It's, it was too long.
- 26:39It was a great plane movie because you need to kill that much time.
- 26:43Right.
- 26:43But it was very long, which is what deterred me from
- 26:45watching it that one time.
- 26:46You're like, let's watch it.
- 26:47I'm like, how long is it?
- 26:48You're like, two and a half hours, and it's like eight o'clock.
- 26:51I'm like, Nope.
- 26:53No.
- 26:54Now having seen it.
- 26:55Would you recommend this movie?
- 26:57So I'm doing the Steven Izzy thing now.
- 26:59I mean, sure if you have two, two plus hours and you want sort of
- 27:05an actiony movie, if you want to classify it as that, I don't know.
- 27:08What did you learn?
- 27:10What did I learn?
- 27:13That apparently you can go from 30 years later.
- 27:17Driving a Formula One car to then into another Formula One
- 27:20car in wind, magically terrible.
- 27:23So now that you've seen it, do you think there's room for a second
- 27:27movie, F two or whatever they're gonna call, we're gonna go backwards.
- 27:30No.
- 27:31F you, what would it be?
- 27:33Right.
- 27:34Is it Brad Pitt gonna be in it because they ended the movie.
- 27:36Spoiler alert, for anybody who waited six months and is still going without
- 27:41seeing it turn off the volume right now.
- 27:44He left T, he won his first F1 race ever.
- 27:48Not a world champion 'cause it was just one race.
- 27:50But he is the champion of that single race.
- 27:52So he got his one podium first place and then he's like, okay, I'm done.
- 27:56Now I'm exiting Formula One.
- 27:58And then he goes to like the Baja 1000 or whatever it is.
- 28:02So what's the premise of the second one gonna be?
- 28:06Baja 1000.
- 28:07That's not F1.
- 28:08No.
- 28:09And Joshua Pierce, dude didn't take the Mercedes seat from Toto and he is
- 28:15gonna stay with the Haas team there.
- 28:18And I guess in the second one he is.
- 28:21A world champion now, or about to be, or like, so what would
- 28:25Brad Pitt come back to do?
- 28:26Like coach him again?
- 28:28Like I Team principal.
- 28:30He'd be Alonzo like, is he coming back and he's gonna be the team
- 28:34principal, because that would be boring.
- 28:37IF Yeah, that'd be terrible.
- 28:39Absolutely terrible.
- 28:40It's gonna be ocean.
- 28:41It's gonna be Oceans 11.
- 28:43In F1 cars.
- 28:44Like is he Even in the next one, you'll just see Brad Pitt in the
- 28:47background eating like he does in all the other movies that he said,
- 28:50and that's all he is gonna do.
- 28:51Stand there and give one liners and eat some food.
- 28:53Terrible.
- 28:54You know what movie I would watch?
- 28:56What's that?
- 28:56And look forward to, Ooh, I think I know where you're going with this.
- 29:00Because the little rumors are coming up, bubbling up to the surface again.
- 29:04Even Jeff Gordon has been saying stuff, well, you're going somewhere else,
- 29:09because I think he's been talking to Mr.
- 29:10Cruz.
- 29:11Could we possibly have a days of thunder too?
- 29:15Ah, see, I thought you were gonna talk about the Schumacher
- 29:18movie that's coming out.
- 29:20'cause that looks super good.
- 29:22Have you seen that?
- 29:23Where they follow the life of Michael Schumacher?
- 29:25Mm-hmm.
- 29:26Oh yeah.
- 29:26It's sort of in the guise of the Sena film in the, in that
- 29:30sort of style and everything.
- 29:31And it looks really good.
- 29:33I, I'm trying to remember what it's called now.
- 29:35I saw a pr, an actual trailer for it.
- 29:38It's epic.
- 29:39Like it goes all the way back to the beginning when he is like, you know,
- 29:42same thing as sent a cart racing and coming up and driving the seven
- 29:45up car, the Jordan and how he ends up at Ferrari and the whole thing.
- 29:49And you know, obviously, wait, this isn't the movie.
- 29:51They, this isn't the, the, the movie documentary thing they
- 29:53already did on him, on Netflix?
- 29:55No, this is something new where they found an actor who looks like Schumacher and
- 29:58looks like a bunch, so much like Sena.
- 30:01They've been trying to cast to look like the real people, and
- 30:03it, it looks super awesome.
- 30:04If I can find the trailer, I'll include it with the episode,
- 30:08but it's, it's super cool.
- 30:10Oh, okay.
- 30:10Yep, I see it.
- 30:11Schumacher 94, I guess is what it's called.
- 30:14It has another working title plan for 2026 on Netflix.
- 30:18Yes.
- 30:19The 1994 focuses the 1994 Formula one season highlighting the intense
- 30:24championship battle Sunna's death, and the Shomi mania that followed his first title.
- 30:29Yep.
- 30:30I think that is gonna be the movie to watch out for in the coming
- 30:33year, or miniseries or however they're gonna lay that out.
- 30:37Well, unless you guys have any other F1 news, I guess we'll bite our tongues
