- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:16presented by Schnook Cedry this episode 542, I'll be your host,
- 0:21Kyle Korne. I'm here with my Co host Nate
- 0:23Reyes. Nate.
- 0:29KC How are we? I'll be honest with you, my MVP
- 0:362005 dynasty is not off to a a banner start dusted off the old
- 0:45OG Xbox said let's let's run it with a dynasty.
- 0:50I I'm going to cut you off and think that there's probably not
- 0:55a ton of dust on that. I mean, I, I, I break it out a
- 1:02few times a. Year like I I don't know if it's
- 1:05if it's around long enough. Literally, like probably during
- 1:08baseball season I'll break it out, play a little MVPO 5, play
- 1:11a little NC, double AO6, and then when the fall rolls around
- 1:15a little. Depressed around like November
- 1:17December range. Well, that's when I break out
- 1:20College football 08 OK, so I'm I'm I'm covering my bases.
- 1:24So you that's a that's a valid point.
- 1:26Not too much dust on this thing. But anyway I started dynasty.
- 1:30I left it up to our fantasy league said what what team you
- 1:35want me to run it with? They said are they is that still
- 1:39the devil rays on MVPO? 5I said it is that was the team
- 1:43that was decided upon. I made my I, I did my fantasy
- 1:47draft. And so right now the the team is
- 1:51looking pretty solid, but we're off to an O and two start.
- 1:54And in both games the Blue Jays took, believe it or not, Bob
- 2:00Gibson, my ace, and Nolan Ryan, my #2 out to the woodshed in
- 2:04both games. So.
- 2:05That's tough, man. Where are you?
- 2:08Are you playing on a certain difficulty?
- 2:10MVP the Mac the the Max level. I'm proud of you for that.
- 2:16I'm going to try to, I'm going to try to run it.
- 2:17I'm going to try to run it 162. My plan was to set it at 3
- 2:21innings and started the started the league and they were like
- 2:26we're not giving you that option at the moment.
- 2:28So I had to commit to 9 innings. So here we are.
- 2:33I I feel like there's a fine line with I don't know where,
- 2:40what at what age level that you pass where you change the
- 2:50difficulty of a video game just because you need a freaking
- 2:54break in life and you're like. Just I, I need a win man.
- 2:58Just give me a win. I just need to enjoy this.
- 3:00I don't need to throw my controller through the drywall,
- 3:04you know what I mean? Like I don't know where that
- 3:08that turning point is, but I feel like there is a turning
- 3:11point eventually. Yeah, when the responsibility,
- 3:15the like, the real life adult responsibility starts stacking
- 3:18up, it's like those videos after a team loses a World Series and
- 3:21you'll see the guy where he's like and it pans.
- 3:26To the TV, it's like a yeah, it's a nothing in the third
- 3:30inning. That's the kind of wins you
- 3:32need, I guess once you once you crossover in your late 20s or
- 3:35something, I don't know, but yeah.
- 3:38That's why like I, I think I had to stop.
- 3:40Not that like I was super into it.
- 3:42It was mainly A COVID thing. But like Call of Duty online,
- 3:46you're just like I, I, I bother 11 hours.
- 3:52I don't need to get absolutely wrecked by an 11 year old in
- 3:56Call of Duty like I did. I just, I need to enjoy
- 4:00something. I just need some peace.
- 4:04Well, to your point, that difficulty change might be
- 4:06coming very soon because I mean, if I can't, if I can't win with
- 4:10Bob Gibson rocking, rocking the 1998 devil race throwback uni, I
- 4:16might add, or Nolan Ryan were in the alternate force green.
- 4:21What what what? What else is that rotation
- 4:23looking like? It's not great.
- 4:26After that. It's like Tim.
- 4:27I think Tim Wakefield's like my #3 yeah, it's, it's a little bit
- 4:32of a steep fall off. I went heavy on the the aces
- 4:35right out of the gate. It was like a draft draft.
- 4:37Oh yeah, full finish draft. Got Yogi behind the dish?
- 4:41Did you make yourself the first pick?
- 4:44I did, yeah. You have to.
- 4:47I was like, I'm in for, I'm in for a rude awakening here, so I
- 4:50at least need to take the first pick.
- 4:52Yeah. Willy MO Pena is my left
- 4:54fielder. Dude, the names on this this
- 4:55roster, Let me just run you around the diamond real quick.
- 4:57I got Bob Gibson, my #1 Yogi behind the dish.
- 5:01I got Shipper at 3rd. What's his name?
- 5:08Was it Jimmy Rollins? No, he was he in that game.
- 5:14That would have been his. Yeah.
- 5:15Jimmy, I think Jimmy Rollins was much short stuff.
- 5:19Yeah. That's The thing is some of
- 5:20these guys like you think like, oh, Chipper Jones, like you got
- 5:23to keep in mind like where this is at, where this is at in his
- 5:25career. I think Jimmy Rollins is a
- 5:27short. I got Pokey Reese at second.
- 5:30I got, I think David Ortiz. No, he's my dhi.
- 5:35Don't remember who I have at first left.
- 5:37Willie MO Pena, Griffin center Orlando Cepeda.
- 5:42Is it somewhere? Maybe he I guess he's my first
- 5:44baseman. It's it's a pretty solid squad.
- 5:46Doesn't sound like an on two team.
- 5:48No, it's not. Drop that down the Hall of Fame
- 5:52or whatever is below. MVP veteran.
- 5:56Veteran probably we'll figure it out.
- 5:58I'll I'll keep you guys updated, but let's talk let's talk
- 6:01current events baseball here. Let's talk about the here and
- 6:03now, not 2005. This MVP conversation has piqued
- 6:11my interest and I know it's piqued yours because your guy is
- 6:15one of the two names leading the charge in this ALMVP race and
- 6:18Aaron Judge, but his counter in the race is a catcher out in
- 6:27Seattle by the name of Cal Raleigh Nate.
- 6:31Before we get into specifics here, gut reaction.
- 6:36I would say take off your bias hat, but I that would be silly.
- 6:40I know that this is going to play into it.
- 6:43Gut reaction. Gut reaction.
- 6:45When you hear somebody say Cal Raleigh has a case for the
- 6:49ALMVP, what is your response? It's an understandable case, I
- 6:59think. I I, I believe we've talked
- 7:03about this a lot in the past, you and I, at least I do.
- 7:08I don't know how you feel are in the camp that like the value to
- 7:15the team holds a little bit more weight in my voting, right.
- 7:21It's not entirely in that, but I think of like the value that
- 7:26that specific player brings to that specific team.
- 7:32I think that makes up a a solid chunk of it.
- 7:35I think that's, I'm not going to say half, I'm going to say 33%
- 7:44of my decision on the vote is the just sheer value of like, if
- 7:50you take this guy out of the lineup, what does that do,
- 7:55right? How successful is that team
- 7:58without him? So that's where I think I
- 8:01understand the argument for Cal Raleigh just 'cause obviously
- 8:08it's not a super deep line up in Seattle.
- 8:12Yeah, he's absolutely that offense.
- 8:14He is like that offense without question.
- 8:16He is obviously having his best season of his career, a lot of
- 8:25power showing up like, like and and as a catcher.
- 8:28I don't think that that's stressed enough how difficult
- 8:33that is. Like, can I jump in?
- 8:37Can I jump in real quick talk about talk about those numbers.
- 8:40You're talking about career year.
- 8:42And again, we're we're at the beginning of June.
- 8:45So I understand that, you know, in order for this to to hold
- 8:48true, he's got to pace this or pace this to even a slightly
- 8:53lesser degree for this conversation be relevant.
- 8:55But as of as it stands right now coming into today, Wednesday,
- 9:00his 259 average is 36 points higher than his career average.
- 9:07His OBP is 68 points higher, slugging is almost 200 points
- 9:17higher, OPS220 give or take points higher.
- 9:21And his OPS plus is his 189 OPS plus right now is significantly
- 9:28higher than his career OPS mark of OPS plus mark of 121.
- 9:32So to your point, I mean, and and we kind of knew this
- 9:35already, but when you look at the just the simple county
- 9:38numbers, you're like. Yeah, he.
- 9:40Certainly does have a case. And and I do think that this if
- 9:46if the season stops now, he's he's in the top three.
- 9:52I think we really got to stress like as a catcher, it's just I
- 9:55don't I don't know if that's truly understood.
- 9:58Like, I don't know if we just like take numbers for granted at
- 10:02times. I don't know if we remember.
- 10:07And it's not like it's your hands, bro.
- 10:13Like your hands are getting beat up over and over and over all
- 10:20the time, No days off. Like, I, I don't think people
- 10:27understand what it's like to catch 95 + 150 times in a game
- 10:35and to still be able to hold a baseball bat and, and have some
- 10:41pop in that swing. Like that's different.
- 10:45That's very hard to do. There's a reason why offensive
- 10:48catchers are a dime a dozen. There's a reason why they stand
- 10:53out so much in the history of our game.
- 10:57There's a reason why majority around the league, it's like
- 11:00that. That's why they platoon guys.
- 11:02That's why you have a 2 headed monster behind the dish to allow
- 11:05those guys to have days off. It's not just, it's not like
- 11:08knees, it's not like getting foul balls hit off of your, you
- 11:11know, off your groin or off of your neck or like just missing
- 11:16pads. It's like it's a combination of
- 11:18that. It's the mental capacity of
- 11:20having to handle an entire staff.
- 11:22It's staying tapped in every single pitch.
- 11:26And then it's also the physical, you know, attributes of like, I
- 11:29got to keep my hands feeling good for hitting.
- 11:32That's a very hard thing to do. I think catching is one of the
- 11:36hardest positions in sports. I think it's definitely the
- 11:39hardest position in baseball, however, and this isn't, this
- 11:48isn't. Why you're you're going full
- 11:51judge mode here? Can I just get one last note?
- 11:53I'm not going to go full. Judge mode.
- 11:54All I know is that like I just want you, you just read off how
- 11:58much of A tick up his stats are from his career average.
- 12:04When we get in to judge, I want you to read off the difference
- 12:09in those categories between the two guys.
- 12:15Look, I, I don't think any, nobody with with a brain is
- 12:22disputing what Aaron Judge is doing this year.
- 12:25And I'll just got spoiler alert, I still believe Aaron Judge to
- 12:29be the leader in the clubhouse when it comes to MVP votes.
- 12:34I understand that. Yeah.
- 12:37But again, we had this conversation every year and
- 12:40granted, for the longest time it was between it was a
- 12:44conversation about Judge and Otani.
- 12:46When we're talking about what does the V represent in MVP?
- 12:52Like is it is it a, a player that actually it, it like serves
- 12:59as a value to his team? Yeah.
- 13:03Or is it just the guy that has the most home runs at the end of
- 13:06the year? Because I feel like they're for
- 13:07a stretch. That seemed to be what it was.
- 13:10I mean, sure, it may be a little more nuanced to to in some.
- 13:13Cases that that has the story to it.
- 13:15Yeah, that it that. And maybe it wasn't the only
- 13:19thing that they were leading in, but it was it was the one that
- 13:22was most often talked about. However, this is a different
- 13:26situation. We're not talking Judge and and
- 13:28Otani coming out of the American League.
- 13:30We're talking about Aaron Judge and a catcher.
- 13:33Now, if you want to take the the traditional route and and dial
- 13:37it back to maybe what they used to think MVP represented.
- 13:41And it was it was about a guy who actually provided value to a
- 13:45team. Cal Raleigh does that.
- 13:47And I'm not saying Aaron Judge, Aaron Judge doesn't, but as a
- 13:51catcher, we've and you've already touched on it, but you
- 13:55have to do so much. I it's a challenging position,
- 14:00arguably the the most challenging on a baseball
- 14:02diamond. But it's not, it's not just that
- 14:06Cal Raleigh is doing all of these, all of these things.
- 14:08It's not that he's, he's hitting for power.
- 14:11It's not that he's, he's leading.
- 14:13He's he's managing A pitching staff.
- 14:15It's not that he's he's a good defender.
- 14:18He's doing all of these things at an exceptional rate like he
- 14:23is a platinum, He is a platinum glove defender behind the dish.
- 14:28We already know what he's doing offensively with the home runs,
- 14:31the power, the OPS, plus all of that.
- 14:33We know it, but and and he's he's doing all of this as a
- 14:38catcher and at the very least given, given Aaron Judge a run
- 14:43for his money. Now, how strong of a run you
- 14:46want to look at or you want to, you want to label that as that's
- 14:49up to you. But I think it's interesting
- 14:52that as of June 4th, we're looking at Cal Raleigh as the,
- 14:57the, the, the threat to Aaron Judge.
- 15:06It's big numbers, so it's got 6 wipes by the way.
- 15:15With that said, with that said, I read I.
- 15:17Mean it's just it's tough when if if judge was hitting 280,
- 15:25then yeah, I think this is a very different conversation.
- 15:30I'm with you. I'm with you.
- 15:33It's June 4th and he's hitting 390.
- 15:40It's also June 4th and Cal Raleigh is pacing for like he's
- 15:44on pace like 63 home runs or something like that, which I
- 15:53look and look, I, I, as we speak, I'm looking at a
- 15:57notification right now from our Facebook group, which by the
- 16:00way, I don't, I feel like I've never plugged that on here maybe
- 16:03once. Plug the heck out of it.
- 16:05Check out our Facebook group. It's not, I'm not talking about
- 16:07the page itself like the three O take, but we have a Facebook
- 16:10group called Today in Baseball. It's a bunch of baseball fans in
- 16:13there sharing posts that they come across, sharing interesting
- 16:16facts, experiences, stories, pictures from the games they go
- 16:20to. I'm looking at one right now
- 16:24where somebody is requesting that we not have MVP
- 16:31conversations in June. And look, I'm with you.
- 16:36I understand it's early, but you have to think with with the
- 16:42offensive prowess that Cal Raleigh brings to the table,
- 16:48there's a very good chance we're going to be looking at an August
- 16:51conversation where Cal Raleigh is still going to be in the top
- 16:55three of the conversation. Maybe Bobby Witt finds a little
- 16:57bit of a resurgence. Maybe he, you know, maybe maybe
- 17:00jumps Cal Raleigh because he he. I mean, I think Jose Ramirez is
- 17:06probably the next one that we need to discuss.
- 17:08Well, I was looking at the betting or the, the, the, the
- 17:12betting odds today and I think, I think they actually had Bobby
- 17:16Witt some some vendor or some outlets had Bobby Witt like
- 17:20second even above Cal Raleigh right now.
- 17:22And I'm like, yeah, that's a little a little strong, but.
- 17:25Not this year, not so far. But anyway, I think we could, I
- 17:29think it could be August and it's a very realistic
- 17:33possibility that Cal Raleigh is still in the conversation.
- 17:36Top three for MVP race. That's all I'm saying.
- 17:40But to your point, getting to the Aaron, Aaron Judges numbers
- 17:43coming into today, Wednesday, he's hitting 38721 homers, which
- 17:48is coming into today, two behind Cal Raleigh's 23.
- 17:52He's got 50 RBIs on base, a 485, a slug of 757, his OPS is 1242
- 18:02and his OPS plus is 248. He's already it's June 4th.
- 18:08He's already accumulated 4.7 WAR.
- 18:15It, it, I don't, I don't even think like it.
- 18:17It's not a conversation of bias in any way.
- 18:19Like I don't even need to be biased.
- 18:21I think if it's, if it's just player A versus player B and if
- 18:25we strictly look at numbers, that's a conversation.
- 18:28And again, that's not my full conversation.
- 18:31That's not the whole part of it. I do think that there's a chunk
- 18:35of the conversation that has to go towards the value of the team
- 18:39and being a catcher, being above average catcher, playing so
- 18:46often, that's a big deal that has a lot of value.
- 18:50So I don't want to discredit it. I don't think there's any need
- 18:53to tear down Cal Raleigh in order to make the argument for
- 18:56Aaron Judge and vice versa. I think it's just it's June 4th
- 19:06and he's hitting 390. Like that's, that's something
- 19:09that like he's he's found a new gear that like we're we're not
- 19:14used to seeing like we're we're it's fine seeing a power hitter
- 19:19who has a ton of strikeouts who hits 28290 and you're like,
- 19:25that's a good MVP year. Like wow, like almost 300.
- 19:31And then there's this. It is interesting though.
- 19:35Yeah, I've heard you say multiple times already like it's
- 19:37June 4th. It's so interesting as we're
- 19:40having this conversation that in in one breath you can say it's
- 19:44so early, it's only June 4th. How are we having an MVP
- 19:48conversation already? But in some of these numbers,
- 19:51it's like it's June. 4th in the same breath, you're like their
- 19:54judge is hitting 387 on June 4th.
- 19:57Like somehow it seems early, but it's also late for some of the
- 20:01for some facets of this conversation.
- 20:03It's very, it's very interesting, but.
- 20:05I I will say, and we don't have to, you know, belabor this
- 20:08conversation too much because again, it is early for the MVP
- 20:11conversation itself. I just wanted to touch on it.
- 20:13But I will say, I do feel like I don't feel like I owe him an
- 20:20apology. But I will say that with the way
- 20:24that this year has gone, building off of the historic
- 20:28year he had last year and and even seasons prior, I feel like
- 20:34I do need to revisit the best player in Major League Baseball
- 20:39conversation a little bit like I I do.
- 20:43I still think it's Shohei once he comes back as a pitcher and
- 20:49is is putting up respectable numbers.
- 20:51Assuming that's the case, I feel like that has to be the answer.
- 20:57But as it stands right now, I mean, if you're just talking
- 21:00hitting, like we're seeing things from Aaron Judge right
- 21:02now that I don't think we've seen since like Barry Bonds.
- 21:06Yeah, you're talking to near what was it is is on base is
- 21:10480. 485. People, he's getting on base 48
- 21:171/2% of the time. We'll just call it a clean fit.
- 21:22Let's just call it half the time.
- 21:23He's getting on base half the time.
- 21:26That's a big deal. Like, I don't care.
- 21:30I don't care about with a number like that.
- 21:32I don't care about advanced analytics.
- 21:34I, I'm sorry if you like, I don't care how you're getting on
- 21:38base if you're hitting like if you are getting on base half the
- 21:41time you are providing value to your team.
- 21:44End of conversation. And I think that's going to
- 21:47continue to be something that holds that average up.
- 21:51I think that average, I'm not going to say he's going to hit
- 21:53380 plus for the season, but I think I think you can.
- 22:00I don't think it's crazy to say that he's going to hit over 300,
- 22:04potentially 320 this year. Like I don't think that's absurd
- 22:08to just say, yeah, I I could see that happening because the walks
- 22:11aren't going anywhere. He's clearly walking.
- 22:15And until there is like a legitimate threat behind him in
- 22:22the lineup, teams are going to continue to work around him.
- 22:25So I don't think the walks are going anywhere.
- 22:28That's valid point. The last thing that I was just
- 22:32curious before we move on, I wanted to see what his splits
- 22:36were. And you might you may even have
- 22:38an idea. No, no, no months.
- 22:41That's that's one of my like, like things I like nerding out
- 22:46about like some people have certain stats that they like.
- 22:49Yeah. But I, that's one of the things
- 22:51for some reason that really intrigues me is how a guy's
- 22:55season trajectory plays out over, you know, a month by month
- 22:59basis. And I'm, I'm trying to pull up
- 23:03what his, what his career splits are for the month.
- 23:10So average he drops over his core over the course of his
- 23:16career. He drops from a 330 hitter in
- 23:19May to a 290 hitter in June, and then July goes drops to 289.
- 23:26So just a point. August 279, September, October
- 23:30275 S. History would tell you it's
- 23:35going to only go down from here, but.
- 23:38And he's he's been slumping a little bit.
- 23:40But to your point, you know, if he's going to be pitched around
- 23:43that might, you know, buy him some ABS, if you will, maybe
- 23:47props up that average a little more than he would if if he had
- 23:51somebody behind him. But yeah, anyway, yeah, let
- 23:54putting a bow on the the whole ALMVP thing again, I know it's
- 23:57June, but it, it's at the very least it's worth giving props to
- 24:02Cal Raleigh for having just, I mean, we know again, we know
- 24:06what Aaron Judge is doing. But if nothing else, if you take
- 24:08nothing else away from this conversation conversation, the
- 24:11fact that Cal Raleigh is doing this as again, not like a
- 24:16slightly below league average catcher, he is doing this at an
- 24:20elite level. Yeah, my last thing and then we
- 24:24can move on that specifically. And and I it's I think it's just
- 24:32important to like remind yourself that like don't take
- 24:36this Aaron Judge offensive season for granted and just like
- 24:41shit, like throw an umbrella of like, oh, he's doing great.
- 24:44Like, let's not look like pay attention to what the numbers
- 24:49are, are saying, because it's not normal.
- 24:53You're not you don't see this every year, much less
- 24:55consecutive years, much less someone in their, you know, 30s.
- 24:59So something that I like consider, but my last question
- 25:03and then we can move on. How I, I'm not saying team
- 25:07success is like a huge important factor, but like if the Mariners
- 25:12slide and maybe miss the playoffs, like does that sway
- 25:16your, your vote personally on an MVP?
- 25:20And I don't, I don't think team success is a big part of what
- 25:23we're talking like percentages of what makes up an MVP vote.
- 25:28I'm I'm putting like maybe 10%. Sure, I here's my.
- 25:33Take on a team success then. Here's my take.
- 25:35I think we're at a point in the game now, and maybe this is just
- 25:38me, maybe I'm maybe I'm on an island here, but I think team
- 25:43success in the year 2025, or really we'll just call it like
- 25:47the twenty 20s, we're at a we're at a point in the game now where
- 25:50I feel like team success can only it's not going to serve as
- 25:55a detractor. It's only going to add to a
- 25:58narrative if the team is doing well.
- 26:01Like in Cal Raleigh's situation, he's going to get a little bit
- 26:05of a bias bump at the end of the season.
- 26:08If the Mariners somehow figure out a way to to run away with
- 26:11this division, they're going to go look at what he'd look at
- 26:14what Cal Raleigh did. He put the literally put the
- 26:16entire team on his back, on his on his rear big dumper and took
- 26:22him, led him to a division crown.
- 26:26But if they finish in 3rd place, I don't think anybody's going to
- 26:30point to Cal Raleigh and be like, well, if he did, if he
- 26:32performed a little better, maybe they would have finished second
- 26:34or even won the division. Yeah, I.
- 26:36Don't know, 'cause he, like we said, he is like he, he is the
- 26:40Mariners right now. Right.
- 26:41And I and I know that I don't we don't need to pull this thread.
- 26:44I I know the AL. East No, no.
- 26:46Last thing. Last thing.
- 26:48As the AL West and then like, I don't need to go down that road.
- 26:53I don't think it's fair to go like apples to apples between
- 26:56the Yankees and the and the Mariners.
- 26:57It's just it's just different. But it is something that I'm I
- 27:01think I put a little value into team success.
- 27:05And I think it does lose its luster a little bit.
- 27:08But we saw Shohei, you know, winning in an Angels uniform and
- 27:14and not make it to the playoffs. We saw Trout do the same thing
- 27:16like I. Have so it's.
- 27:18I don't think it's a huge part of the equation.
- 27:22Last thing and then we'll move on.
- 27:23No, no, I'm, I'm done. We're we're talking.
- 27:25We're talking. Jack Caglione now called up this
- 27:28week and made his debut. My days are getting mixed up.
- 27:32Was that last night debut last night?
- 27:35I believe Tuesday, yeah 'cause they they were off Monday, yeah,
- 27:39yeah. So Tuesday over 5.
- 27:44But did you see the numbers behind?
- 27:47Do you see some of the numbers behind his ABS last night He he
- 27:55had OK, so 4 out of the five balls that he hit were 96 plus
- 28:03on expecting. Expecting battery average is
- 28:05huge. Then Oh yeah, yeah, he I think
- 28:09he, I think his finally B was 113.1 miles an hour.
- 28:14Oh, I did. In his debut.
- 28:17Yeah, I was going to say. He achieved the fourth highest
- 28:22exit V low of all Royals hitters this season in one game.
- 28:27This is why this needed to happen.
- 28:29This is why we were, everybody was calling for this to happen.
- 28:33And granted, I like I say that with like a little bit of
- 28:37frustration because it was like, what are we doing?
- 28:40But I look at the Royals and I'm like, OK, well, at least you
- 28:43pulled the trigger. I'm sitting here thinking about
- 28:45my Red Sox and wondering why Roman Anthony is annihilating
- 28:50the AAA level and is still in AAA.
- 28:53So, you know, I can only get so frustrated with the Royals for
- 28:57for quote UN quote like mishandling this.
- 29:00It sounds like, you know, maybe they went a little longer than
- 29:03they would have liked, but good on them for actually pulling up
- 29:08a guy that's going to help the team and and help specifically
- 29:12the offense that, as we've talked about, is one of the
- 29:14worst in baseball. Yeah, I did see.
- 29:19I think I saw. Was it his first at bat that he
- 29:21had that fly out to right center?
- 29:23That was like deep? Yeah, like against the wall.
- 29:26Yeah, yeah. Like shade to the right center,
- 29:29Victor Scott snagged it, robbed him of extra bases.
- 29:34That was that was a good swing. And that was the other thing
- 29:37that impressed me in, in watching his ABS is and this, I
- 29:41feel like this was sort of the description or the, the scouting
- 29:46report, if you will, of, of, of him and the minors and really
- 29:51just throughout his like amateur career, I guess you could say is
- 29:56he just seemed like calm. His demeanor is so calm, a slow
- 30:01heartbeat. He didn't look overpowered in
- 30:04his in his ABS in his debut. Like his hands were still quick.
- 30:09He was still getting the balls. And as as I just said, he was
- 30:13hitting them hard, like hard contact.
- 30:17But that's got that's got to be so encouraging for the Royals to
- 30:20know that like this guy is not going to shy away from from the
- 30:26the spotlight that that the Major League level brings.
- 30:32So good for good for him. And I'm I'm hoping he can.
- 30:35I don't even they're playing at night, I believe.
- 30:38So I don't even know what he's got.
- 30:40Postponed. Oh, did he get?
- 30:41Did he get? Postponed.
- 30:42Well, hope hopefully he can he can notch his hit his first hit
- 30:47soon, but I'm thinking one of his first hits just like it's
- 30:51got to be a tank, right? I mean, that's just.
- 30:54I mean, it takes gangster hacks dude.
- 30:56I mean, there's, there's only, I feel like there's only so many
- 30:58guys when you get called up that you can say that about.
- 31:00He's one of them. Yeah, those are those are daddy
- 31:04hacks. He does.
- 31:06He just it looks very, very good.
- 31:09He he looks like a star, but he's got the make up of a star,
- 31:15the demeanor of a star. Like you were saying, I like a
- 31:20good number. I don't know what it is about
- 31:23debuts, but I like a good number on the jersey and 14 is a good
- 31:28number. It's not a great number, but it
- 31:30is a good number. That's a football number, but
- 31:32I'll take. It in baseball, it's better than
- 31:38like anything 30 and above, you know what I mean?
- 31:41I'm not kind of out on what is. Yeah, Marcella Myers wearing 39,
- 31:46which I'm like. Bro.
- 31:48Come on. Awful and we know the story of
- 31:51the Yankees. So like any time I see a young
- 31:53guy come up, I'm like, oh, number 89.
- 31:58So I 14 solid. I like 14.
- 32:01I he bro just looks good in a uniform.
- 32:05I'm not going to lie. He just, he's a good looking
- 32:07cat. I he just, he's got all the
- 32:10makeup, man. I don't know.
- 32:12I haven't. It's a handsome fell.
- 32:14I haven't seen enough of like his like interviews or, you
- 32:17know, like anything like that. I'm curious if if like if he's
- 32:24quite like, I think Bobby Witt's quiet, but at the same time like
- 32:29his, he's got drip. Well, let's not go slander and
- 32:35Bobby our guy Bobby. Witt.
- 32:37I'm saying like Bobby Witt's like quiet, but like has.
- 32:39Drip. I thought you were talking about
- 32:41Jack. I got.
- 32:41Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bobby for sure.
- 32:42Yeah, yeah. Sorry.
- 32:44I don't know what Jack Hagley, I don't know what that's like.
- 32:48I don't I don't know if he's a little louder.
- 32:50I don't know if he's a little more confident.
- 32:52I don't know if he's he's got like no drip and just like all
- 32:56like he seems. Like a classic Who's who's was
- 33:01that? Teddy Roosevelt.
- 33:08Teddy Teddy Roosevelt speak softly and carry a big stick
- 33:12that seems like kind of where Jack Caglione that's.
- 33:14What I was wondering, yeah, like.
- 33:17I've been I would venture to say the confidence is a pretty high.
- 33:23This is just from what I've like the the very limited things I've
- 33:28seen on Jack so far. But I would venture to say that
- 33:31the confidence is more apparent with Jack versus Bobby.
- 33:36Like it would take you a while to really get to the heart of
- 33:40Bobby's confidence in a conversation with him.
- 33:42Like it would take him a while to really open up.
- 33:45Like, yeah, I know I'm like literally one of the greatest
- 33:47players in the game. He wouldn't say that.
- 33:49And I'm not saying Jack would either.
- 33:51But I feel like if he, if both of them were to walk into a
- 33:54room, I feel like Jack is going to maybe maybe steal the show a
- 33:58little bit more from like a aura perspective.
- 34:01It's. A presence that's a big boy.
- 34:03That is a big boy. I don't know if this has been
- 34:08discussed at any point recently. So pitching's just dead?
- 34:14That's just like officially pitching is just like out of the
- 34:19Royals. What context here?
- 34:20Are we talking just a general statement, pitching's dead, or
- 34:25for Jack? Like it's just like the option
- 34:28of him getting off again. Yeah.
- 34:30Sorry, I was not tracking with you there.
- 34:32You're saying specifically for Jack?
- 34:34Yeah. Those days are just done.
- 34:38It's kind of sad. It is sad, like it definitely
- 34:41gave us some fun headlines, but maybe the Royals just look at
- 34:44this like and I'm not I'm not saying he's show hey, but it
- 34:49might be a similar. There might be a similar, albeit
- 34:53more premature conversation going on here as is happening in
- 34:58LA with the Dodgers and show, Hey, being like, hey, look, we
- 35:02could do this, but do we need to?
- 35:05Should we do we need to push the envelope here or can we just be
- 35:09happy with the offense that we know we're going, that we know
- 35:11we're going to get from this guy?
- 35:14And again, I know he literally Jack just made his debut.
- 35:17I understand that. But if, if, if it if everything
- 35:20pans out the way that it's supposed to, he's going to be an
- 35:25offensive threat in this league for some time to come.
- 35:30And maybe they just don't want to mess with that.
- 35:31I don't. It's hard to say.
- 35:32It's understandable. I don't, I don't hate on it.
- 35:35I just, it would have been nice to see, you know?
- 35:41Hey, I'm with you, man. I'm with you.
- 35:46Let's you want to talk about some dudes that have been some
- 35:50dudes that been deserving of some credit it's.
- 35:57That sound? Let's talk credit.
- 36:04Cannon Junior Caminero's hitting 395.
- 36:11That's seventeen hits, including six homers, 18 ribbies, and an
- 36:16OPS of 1412. And just as a cherry on top,
- 36:20thirteen runs scored in his last 11 games.
- 36:23Again, that's a 395 average over his last 11 games coming into
- 36:28Wednesday. And fun little nugget here that
- 36:30I came across. Am I, am I digging around?
- 36:32Courtesy of Foul Territory TV on Twitter, Junior Caminero is
- 36:37batting 625 off of relief pitchers over the last 14 days,
- 36:41which is the best in the American League, which makes me
- 36:45wonder like if that's just the American League like who's the
- 36:49who's higher than that in the National League?
- 36:52That's. A good point.
- 36:56That's a good question. Is that like a show hey
- 36:59situation? Are we talking like a Luis arise
- 37:02situation? Like am I overthinking this or
- 37:05or? What?
- 37:06No, it's a valid question. I don't know either way.
- 37:12Stud good for this young young man.
- 37:14There's only stud one dude. Yeah, that talk about
- 37:18confidence, by the way. 14 jacks on the year coming into the day.
- 37:24Love that good good ballpark to hit in so far.
- 37:27OPS 811 OPS plus the 1:28. Yeah, that we knew.
- 37:31The pop is there. It's just swinging this stuff.
- 37:34Some discipline. Kids good though.
- 37:38Kids real good. Speaking of good, Max Muncie's
- 37:43hitting 324. That's twelve hits, including
- 37:47six homers, 17 rubies and a 1248 OPS over the last 15 days.
- 37:55Shout out Jacob in the chat. What's up Jacob?
- 37:58Welcome, by the way, shout out to all of the all all of you
- 38:01hanging out in the chat with us tonight on this.
- 38:04Love the chat? Wednesday Night Live stream the
- 38:07Max Muncie. When did this start?
- 38:11Was this the Mets series when it started taking off?
- 38:20So I know he did his thing against the Yanks.
- 38:23Well, he. So here's the thing with Max
- 38:25Muncie. And if you've been following him
- 38:29at any point, you know that he's made some switches when it comes
- 38:33to his eyes. Yeah, but we know he's been
- 38:36wearing glasses, but did he also get, did he get surgery at some
- 38:40point? I thought I heard, I thought it
- 38:41was just the glasses, but I. Think it was probably both.
- 38:46Well I feel like if you got surgery it would eliminate the
- 38:48need for glasses, but I feel like I just saw him wearing
- 38:50glasses the other day. Maybe not.
- 38:52Surgery is kind of overrated. I've heard some success stories
- 38:59from the from. The a lot of failure stuff.
- 39:01So, Well, to be fair, I've I've been blessed with good eyes.
- 39:05Dad got the LASIK years ago and said it was one of the greatest
- 39:09decisions he ever made, so I can only imagine how much something
- 39:13like that would impact a Major League hitter.
- 39:16But courtesy underdog MLB on Twitter, without glasses he was
- 39:22hitting 180 zero home runs and had 34 strikeouts. 04 RB is 34
- 39:29strikeouts with glasses, which by the way, 28 without, 29 with.
- 39:35OK, perfect. He went from hitting 180 to now
- 39:40hitting 275. Zero homers to 8 homers. 4
- 39:46ribbies to 30 ribbies. 34 strikeouts to 18.
- 39:52I mean, if there was pudding, there'd be proof in it.
- 39:55It's crazy what being able to see can do for you, not just as
- 40:00a Major League like we talked about, but just as a human
- 40:02being. True, very true.
- 40:05I mean you can do a lot of stuff if you can see.
- 40:07Yeah, homies locked and. Good on Max.
- 40:12Just makes that line up even deeper.
- 40:17It's a good bought like this is a good run for him too.
- 40:19He needs it like he's hitting like that span or the the 15 day
- 40:25span that I told you where he's hitting 324, six homers, He's a
- 40:292, He's a 228 career hitter and he's had a little bit of a down
- 40:37year based on the certain metrics that you might look at.
- 40:43OPS is down on bases down, OPS plus is down.
- 40:48So he needed this. This is this is big for big for
- 40:51Max, big for the Dodges, who by the way, are fighting off.
- 40:56Again, it's early, I know, but they're fighting off the pods
- 41:03were only a game back coming into today.
- 41:06How about it? I'm sure Sante.
- 41:11How about it? Next up, Addison Barger making
- 41:17his credit cannon debut coming into today for and I don't I
- 41:25think the Jays game actually just ended on a walk off.
- 41:29I think it was Alejandra Kirk actually.
- 41:31I don't know if he got one, but coming into the day 4
- 41:35consecutive games with a Homer. He went out for 4:00 today.
- 41:41That yeah, I think I saw his last at bat and he was over
- 41:43three at that point. So yeah, I guess I didn't miss
- 41:46anything. Courtesy of just Baseball on
- 41:50Twitter. No one in the AL has a better
- 41:52hard hit percentage since May 1st than Addison Barger in that
- 41:56time slashing 299 three 7567 with an OPS of 937, six homers,
- 42:04163 weighted runs created plus and a 1.5 F 4.
- 42:10Deese, deese, Deese. I mean Toronto seven and three
- 42:16in their last ten man. 2nd place in the East.
- 42:19Like that's. Only 6 pack.
- 42:22There's a lot of people out there that had them pretty low
- 42:26on the list. No, they suck.
- 42:29They suck. If, if, if this, if the theme of
- 42:32this episode is it's June. It's so early.
- 42:37I think we can apply that line of thinking to the Blue Jays and
- 42:42saying, you know, what is little run has been cute.
- 42:45The fact that they're only 6 pack in the in a pretty crappy E
- 42:49Great, awesome. But this is I mean, go ahead,
- 42:55write it, etch it in stone. Save this receipt.
- 42:59I know, Nate, you're big in you're big in receipts.
- 43:02Now go ahead and Sharpie it. The Jay.
- 43:04This is this is not going to pan out to be anything that we
- 43:10haven't seen for the last however many seasons.
- 43:14This is the Jays of old will return.
- 43:18Wow. But not if Addison Barger has
- 43:23anything to say about it. So good.
- 43:25Good for him. And lastly here, Andrew Abbott
- 43:31of the Cincinnati Reds, outside of today's little fart start
- 43:39where he gave up five against the Brewers from May 6th, from
- 43:48May 6th to May 30th, was 3 and O with an ERA of .63 and 30
- 43:53strikeouts across 5 starts. His best start in that span was
- 43:57actually against the National League's best Chicago Cubs where
- 44:03he went 7 innings, only gave up one hit, had zero in runs and
- 44:07eight KS. And that was actually the start
- 44:09before this far to start today. So that that was back.
- 44:14That start against the Cubs was May 30th.
- 44:16So been looking very, very sharp for the Reds.
- 44:21So you love to see that, especially considering the fact
- 44:24that Hunter green, which I forgot to even include that in
- 44:27my notes, but Hunter Green back on the shelf with a re
- 44:30aggravated groin injury. You don't like to see that.
- 44:33I don't like to see that, man. Like I was feeling really good
- 44:37about my Cy Young pick, but dude just can't, can't stay on the
- 44:42bump. Cannot.
- 44:45Hard to win an award when you're not playing, you know?
- 44:47It's true. It's true.
- 44:49It's hard. To get so I've been.
- 44:50Told fired for you. So I've been told.
- 45:00How you doing guy? The Rockies, well, I mean, can
- 45:06we gig? I, I guess we go ahead and give,
- 45:09give it to him, the Colorado Rockies.
- 45:11I just man. Wow, that I don't even know if
- 45:15you heard, but even not. It like cocked it, Yeah, it was
- 45:18like didn't fire. Which actually is very fitting
- 45:21for if we're going to give the credit card to the Rockies, I'd
- 45:23give you a little false start there.
- 45:25OK, I'm glad you heard that because I thought I was the only
- 45:27one. Rockies sweep the Miami Marlins,
- 45:33their first series win of the year.
- 45:36It's actually their first series win dating back to September
- 45:4116th through 18th of last year. First, the D backs.
- 45:50Look, I know we just shot the cannon for the Rockies, but this
- 45:54is less about the accomplishment on behalf of the Colorado
- 45:57Rockies and more of a what are you doing?
- 46:01Miami Marlins? How do you how do you let A-Team
- 46:05come in and get their 10th, 11th and 12th wins of the season in
- 46:10again, early June? If we're going to label this
- 46:15episode title this episode, we're just going to call it,
- 46:17it's June. How are you going to let A-Team
- 46:20come in in June and get their 10th, 11th, 12th wins and just
- 46:27go on about your day, not fire somebody, not burn the stadium
- 46:30down? How do how do you let that
- 46:31happen? Miami Marlins That That's
- 46:33pathetic. I mean, they're also an
- 46:35embarrassing organization. That's pathetic.
- 46:37I mean, we know this, but to get swept, I know, I know crazier
- 46:44things have happened in baseball, but my goodness, they
- 46:48they didn't even have double digit wins.
- 46:50The Rockies didn't even have double digit wins coming into
- 46:52your ballpark when they when they when they arrived via plane
- 46:56or train or limo. I don't know how they arrived to
- 47:00the park. Hold on, I want to do something
- 47:03a little fun here. Keep oh boy, keep stalling for
- 47:05me. By the way, going dating back to
- 47:08that mark that I mentioned, September 16th through the 18th
- 47:12of last year, their last series win, this sweep snaps a streak
- 47:17of 22 straight series losses. 22 You have to be so it goes
- 47:26without saying, but you have to be so bad to not even luck into
- 47:30winning a series in that amount of in that amount of series.
- 47:33That's crazy. What do you got?
- 47:37Based on the ESPN app, can you guess the total attendance of
- 47:44the three games? Oh, I OK, so I did.
- 47:48You already saw some. No, I, I saw the first game on
- 47:52Friday 'cause that was the, the picture.
- 47:54I don't know if you saw but there was like a picture
- 47:56floating around viral or whatever it.
- 47:58Seemed well above what was shown in the picture.
- 48:03You know what I mean? Like the number, right?
- 48:05Yeah, way higher than. OK, so, well, the picture I saw
- 48:09somebody had like tweeted out, I'm, I'm guessing at this point
- 48:12it's sarcastically, but they're like 157 people.
- 48:16Tonight's Marlins, Rockies game. I didn't even think twice about
- 48:19it until I saw the actual number.
- 48:21I was like, that totally makes sense.
- 48:23I'm looking at this picture right now.
- 48:25There's probably about little, little under 200 people here.
- 48:29And then it came out reported that it was like 3500 or
- 48:32something. I'm like that's just wrong.
- 48:35Yeah, well, I'm going off the ESPN app just because it was the
- 48:39quickest. So give me the give me a guess
- 48:42on the total for the three games.
- 48:47I'm probably way off here, but I, I would guess that their
- 48:51highest total would have been Friday, because people have
- 48:55things to do on the weekend. Like I, I, I know Friday night
- 48:58is the weekend. Like, yeah, like you've got the
- 49:01like, Saturday, Sunday, Saturday.
- 49:03You're trying, yeah. You're trying to take care of
- 49:04home projects. Sunday.
- 49:06You're trying to like, wind down for the week.
- 49:07You're not trying to go watch a combined, like 30 wins of
- 49:13baseball being played. Actually, how many?
- 49:19How many wins of the Rockies got?
- 49:22They're 11 and 50. OK, so like 30?
- 49:25Four wins. No 12 and 50. 12 and 50 Sorry I
- 49:29was looking at the last. Yeah, so I was close. 35 wins
- 49:33between the two of them. Yeah, so I'm guessing Friday
- 49:36night was actually the the big ticket game.
- 49:39Wrong. Saturday.
- 49:42Yeah, nothing makes sense with the Marlins, man, I swear.
- 49:45My goodness. OK, if that that Friday game was
- 49:4835, I'm going to say like I'm going to say like 13,000 over
- 50:04the weekend. According to ESPN, it was, it
- 50:09was 19,738. We had 5894.
- 50:15So I don't know what the 3500 number was.
- 50:17I don't know where these numbers I think I saw.
- 50:20That. I thought I did too, but the
- 50:23five 894 on Friday, 7583 on Saturday, 6261 on Sunday, it's.
- 50:34Quality baseball. Am I saying the right days, by
- 50:36the way, days of the week? I'm not.
- 50:38It's Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. I don't know what I'm making up.
- 50:41You messed me up with the weekends.
- 50:43Oh, you're so right. That's on me.
- 50:47Hey, I'll take the. Monday.
- 50:49I'll take the. Start of this series.
- 50:52That's that's on me. I got confused.
- 50:59He he threw me off. He threw a wrench in there.
- 51:03Yeah, that's amazing. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
- 51:05The series just ended today. Yesterday, Today.
- 51:13What's today? What's Wednesday?
- 51:15Yeah, the sweep. The sweep happened today,
- 51:17Wednesday. Sweep happened yeah.
- 51:18So yeah, 19,000 people that I did see the TikTok of like this
- 51:25group of guys, you know those like 5050 tickets that you can
- 51:29buy yes, there's a guy that bought like 2050 fifty tickets.
- 51:38I don't know if you won or not. I'm going to have to look back,
- 51:40but like of what are the chances?
- 51:42That you, I mean you got to, but then again, like your chances
- 51:45are better, but the payouts going to be garbage.
- 51:48He spent like he spent like $400.00 in the 5050 raffle
- 51:52thing. Imagine losing that.
- 51:58No disrespect, No disrespect. Disrespect.
- 52:01Rockies suck. The Marlins suck.
- 52:03No disrespect. No disrespect.
- 52:09Speaking of sucking, the Padres suck for thinking they're just
- 52:13going to come in and snatch up Jaron Duran.
- 52:15I'm not a fan of this. Yeah, fill me in on this.
- 52:19What's this? About No, there's just there was
- 52:21reported that the Padres were interested in Jaron Duran and
- 52:26this actually dates back to I think what year is it, 2025?
- 52:30Yeah, dates back to last year. Like they were, they were
- 52:34apparently checking in on him last year as well.
- 52:36So they've liked him for some time.
- 52:38I've liked him for some time. Big, big Jaron Duran guy the
- 52:41last couple these last couple years.
- 52:44I I'm probably on record as having said at one point like I
- 52:51I would be OK parting ways with Jaron Duran, but this was
- 52:55before. That's crazy to say all that.
- 52:59No. Well, my reasoning was that I
- 53:01just didn't. I knew he was like, I know he's
- 53:05good, but I'm, I'm looking at what he did last year and I'm
- 53:08just like we. Can't.
- 53:10Was that the peak? Yeah, like we can't fall victim
- 53:14victim to thinking that this this, this is going to be the
- 53:19normal moving forward. Like this is the normal moving
- 53:23forward. We just can't, however.
- 53:27OK, sorry, keep going. No, I was just going to say
- 53:29however, like he's had an obviously as you would expect,
- 53:35numbers are are down from last year even I think defensively as
- 53:39well has since I've been moved over to the left.
- 53:43But like comparatively like he's like he's putting up a probably
- 53:47a better year then I would have anticipated being the bounce
- 53:54back otherwise, if that makes sense.
- 54:00What I was going to say is, isn't he also one of those
- 54:02sneaky guys that like kind of late, late bloomer than you
- 54:06would guess? Well, that, well, yeah, I was
- 54:09thinking you're talking like in terms of the season itself, but
- 54:12like, because like offensively people are pointed like his lack
- 54:15of power. But if you look at what he did
- 54:16last year, he didn't, he didn't start popping off with power
- 54:20until the second-half of the year anyway.
- 54:22In fact, I'm pretty sure he was at this point in time last year,
- 54:25he was pretty close in terms of homers, maybe off by like a
- 54:29couple, two or three. But yeah, he like last year, he
- 54:34was like an he was like an MVP conversations and was comparable
- 54:40at this point of the year last year.
- 54:41So anyway, yeah, Padres, Padres, yeah.
- 54:49And at a much like larger level, at a macro level, to your point,
- 54:53yeah, late bloomer, but I'm here for it.
- 54:55And Padres can just go ahead and keep on moving it down the line,
- 54:59looking, looking elsewhere. Just got three more years of
- 55:06control. Why trade him that's.
- 55:09Yeah, Speaking of just free, Speaking of control, I think
- 55:17Paul Skeens is really wishing that the whole years of control
- 55:23thing was like a myth or just didn't exist, because he's
- 55:29probably hating life right now. And I'll tell you why.
- 55:32This is his second start. In the last four starts where he
- 55:40has gone, 8 Indians gave up a single run, not plural singular
- 55:47run and lost the game. And look, I know people are go
- 55:54with win loss records don't matter for pitchers.
- 55:57If I'm Paul Skeens and I'm going out there and giving you.
- 56:01It matters to them. That's what Indians, right?
- 56:05Eight Indians of one run ball on multiple occasions and I'm
- 56:12getting handed the loss. Yeah, it's going to all.
- 56:16Even if it didn't matter to me before, like even in college,
- 56:18it's going to matter to me now because that's pitiful.
- 56:22I'd like to know if there was like some type of interaction
- 56:25between him and degrom and there was just like a Space Jam thing
- 56:30of like just spreading it. It's contagious.
- 56:35Yeah, Paul Skeens was like, we were just talking like pitch
- 56:38grips or whatever. He's he's like, show me your
- 56:40grip. He had the Skeens had the ball
- 56:43in his hand and then Jacob degrom grabs it.
- 56:46And then all of a sudden they both light up.
- 56:48And then you see this transfer of power or that's right, I
- 56:51guess lack thereof because, well, no, it's not even it's not
- 56:55even a lack of power. Skeens is doing what Skeens is
- 56:57doing. It's the bums around him.
- 56:59They can't figure out a way to win.
- 57:01And by the way, I think I saw the night that they they shut
- 57:03they put up a shut out. So I'm like, OK, go figure the
- 57:07neck the next night we can hold them score the held the Astros
- 57:10scoreless. Whatever Scrubs guy can't wait
- 57:14to talk extension. I think it's time to get rid of
- 57:18the Pirates button, the Jolly Roger button, that music.
- 57:24I think it's, I think we have to replace it with something else.
- 57:26Don't play it. I mean, just as a way to like
- 57:32honor. It's like the last time, not the
- 57:37whole thing, right? RIP.
- 57:43Yeah, they don't even get the beat drop or they don't even get
- 57:46the the crescendo. They're they're not worthy of
- 57:48that. RIP they didn't even get a.
- 57:50Quarter. Curious to see what you replace
- 57:52it with. Yeah, I'll have to think on
- 57:55that. That's interesting.
- 57:56I really like that button. I'll be honest with you, I.
- 57:59Know. It's truthfully it's turned into
- 58:02the Paul Skeens button like it it lost the Pirates button
- 58:06privileges. It's.
- 58:07Got to be returned. Months ago.
- 58:11What a shame. We could do this for every every
- 58:14every quality start that he loses and play the song.
- 58:20Yeah, oh, another 88 inning effort by Paul Skeens.
- 58:22Another loss. The Button's going to get
- 58:24overused, yeah. According to What did we settle
- 58:29on? Is it codify?
- 58:30Codify baseball. I want to I want to go with
- 58:33codify because codify codify sounds it makes me
- 58:37uncomfortable. I think that's.
- 58:40I think that is the correct pronunciation, but I'm not.
- 58:42I'm not great with. I I'd like to think a guy named
- 58:45Cody started it and that's what he's going for.
- 58:48Chances are very slim, but we'll go with it.
- 58:50According to Codify Baseball on Twitter, Paul Skeens has allowed
- 58:53nine only 19 earned runs and 13 starts this year, but the
- 58:58Pirates have lost eight of those games.
- 59:02Keep it up. Black and yellow, keep it up.
- 59:05I'm not going to name names, but there's people in our circle
- 59:08that believe that he's open to an extension.
- 59:13That could not be a bigger lie. I'm sorry, I don't know, I, I
- 59:18don't know what kind of, what kind of drugs, illicit drugs.
- 59:21They're they're floating around up there in, in Pittsburgh, but
- 59:26get off them because Paul Skeads is going elsewhere.
- 59:29Has to step in, it's our last hope and will be Has to step in,
- 59:32force the sale. Insane.
- 59:34Last thing on that your guy Justin Havens, Nugget chef on
- 59:39Twitter. Paul Skeens is the first pitcher
- 59:41since Pedro Martinez in 2000 to lose twice in a season and
- 59:45starts of eight plus innings. One or zero earned runs or just
- 59:49runs general one or zero walks and eight KS.
- 59:54Yeah, I hate to see it. That sounds like a team I want
- 59:59to sign up a long term commitment for.
- 1:00:03Anyway, that's all I got. Let's have a let's have a
- 1:00:09weekend folks. Let's that's Wednesday crap.
- 1:00:12Yeah, he's up on that. I got, I got a fun one.
- 1:00:16Did you see the Cole Young kid with Seattle?
- 1:00:19The debut. Yes, I did.
- 1:00:22Call up video. Call up video was great.
- 1:00:25Incredible and then the debut gets his first knock and then
- 1:00:30gets his first RBI and let's we don't need it.
- 1:00:33We don't need to talk about what it was.
- 1:00:35You know, it's just a little rollover dinker to 1st baseman,
- 1:00:40but still a walk off to like to celebrate.
- 1:00:43Yeah. To your It's your debut.
- 1:00:46You're celebrating your jersey ripped off.
- 1:00:49You get the cooler dump at the end of the game, you get the
- 1:00:52interview like. Well, I did that TikTok about
- 1:00:54it, one of the better call up videos.
- 1:00:56Like I mean, most call up videos are great, but that was one of
- 1:01:00the better ones I've seen. Dude.
- 1:01:01Like when when you get emotional when the parents are on the
- 1:01:03call. Yeah, getting emotional, yeah.
- 1:01:06All in all, just a very, very awesome debut.
- 1:01:11Very cool. Can we?
- 1:01:16Is it just me or like I swear it's like 8 out of every 10
- 1:01:22prospects that get called up their first game like one of
- 1:01:27their first ABS or sometimes it ends up being their first hit.
- 1:01:31They're like legging out like an infield dribbler.
- 1:01:34What? What is that?
- 1:01:35Why is that? Yeah.
- 1:01:38Am I just, am I just like convincing myself that that
- 1:01:41happens more than it does 'cause I feel like with a lot of these
- 1:01:45guys that gets called up you, they're like legging out little
- 1:01:48like now that now that I've said that, remember that and and
- 1:01:51watch. I mean, you're probably.
- 1:01:52Right. Watch these prospects feel their
- 1:01:54legs. Dude, it's just like I'm going
- 1:01:56to please dear Lord, make contact with something today
- 1:02:00like that. Just got to be the only
- 1:02:03mentality. And you're barely getting and
- 1:02:05then you have it. Grown men like Jack Caglion,
- 1:02:08it's like, no, I'm going to hit a ball 115.
- 1:02:12I'm going to basically have the hardest hit ball this team's had
- 1:02:15all year, and this is like my first at bat.
- 1:02:17Anyway, that's all I got. Yeah, let's have a let's have a
- 1:02:21good rest of the week, I guess. Sorry to.
- 1:02:23Whatever that means. Yeah, pull.
- 1:02:25The trigger too early there, but yeah, let's let's have a good
- 1:02:29rest of the week trying to think anything we've got to plug.
- 1:02:33Let's keep an eye on dates for a next Keeping book.
- 1:02:37Yeah, we have to pick something. Learning how to keep score with
- 1:02:40Nate Sunday Night baseball broadcast.
- 1:02:45We'll, we'll, we'll pick one. Keep an eye out.
- 1:02:47If you're listening or watching. Keep an eye out.
- 1:02:48We'll, we'll figure out a, a next date for that.
- 1:02:50Sox Yankees. Oh, last thing, I'll say Sox
- 1:02:54Yankees this weekend. Don't ask me to engage in any
- 1:02:59sort of bets. Don't ask me to to make any sort
- 1:03:02of predictions. I couldn't be.
- 1:03:05Well, I won't say I couldn't be more out on this team because
- 1:03:07I'm so back in on this team after our walk off today, Saddam
- 1:03:10Rafaela with a three O 8. Did you see a 308 foot walk off
- 1:03:14Homer snuck it right inside the pole.
- 1:03:18No, but I'm on at a larger scale.
- 1:03:22I'm this team frustrates me. Another weekend of nationally
- 1:03:27broadcast games. Oh.
- 1:03:30So annoying. I'm so I'm so weary having to
- 1:03:34watch my team. Do you like I hate National?
- 1:03:37No, I'm, I'm, I'm with you. No, it's just funny because
- 1:03:40you're like, Oh, my team is so good and everyone wants to talk
- 1:03:43about my team. No, it's just it's ESPN I
- 1:03:47absolutely solidifying. I get it.
- 1:03:50At least one to three Sunday Night Baseball Yankee Red Sox
- 1:03:57matchups. I think Nessen only gets what,
- 1:04:00the Friday game 'cause I guess what's Fox's Saturday?
- 1:04:03ESPN Sunday. I see MLB Network on Friday, but
- 1:04:08I don't think they dominate the. Way the other not with the
- 1:04:12rights yeah yeah but yeah don't ask me to make any sort of bets
- 1:04:17I I have no interest in doing that right now but.
- 1:04:20Super interesting that they go 3 and then come back two series
- 1:04:28later to face each other in Fenway.
- 1:04:30Well, it makes sense because I get this is the first match up
- 1:04:33of the season. Yeah.
- 1:04:35So it was again, it's June, we've mentioned it already, it's
- 1:04:39June and they're just now meeting.
- 1:04:41So we're probably going to see some some match ups stacked over
- 1:04:44the next couple months. I'm not overly confident in my
- 1:04:47team at the moment either so. Oh yeah, it's got to be so hard
- 1:04:51being in first place right now. Anyway, check out the shop,
