- 0:54Speaker 1: Tyler Hines and Andrew Walker are real clothes one two
- 0:57Speaker 1: for me, I think he is so attractive.
- 1:02Speaker 2: And I don't know if I've only seen him in
- 1:05Speaker 2: anything but one movie.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I think we've seen him in a couple in twenty
- 1:08Speaker 1: twenty one. If you want a piece of that, Tyler Ryans,

- 1:36Speaker 2: the Wedding Veil, which we will talk about in two
- 1:40Speaker 2: weeks when we review the second installment in that trilogy,
- 1:45Speaker 2: The Wedding Veil Unveiled.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Yes, also, we have.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Been getting a couple of emails from Hallmark Channel watchers,
- 1:53Speaker 2: which thank you so very much.
- 1:55Speaker 1: We just have one small request.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Please put the movie you're referring to in the body
- 2:00Speaker 2: of the email somewhere, because sometimes these lovely writers will
- 2:05Speaker 2: write in and be like, I love that song in
- 2:07Speaker 2: that movie, but we don't know what movie or what
- 2:09Speaker 2: song you're talking about.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Indeed, you're ready for a synopsis of this movie. I
- 2:13Speaker 1: Am Butler's in Love in a prestigious Butler Academy, Passionate
- 2:19Speaker 1: Emma and rebellious Henry trained to become royal Butlers, where
- 2:23Speaker 1: the competition is fierce and sparks fly, starring Stacey Farber,
- 2:29Speaker 1: Corey Coott, and Maxwell Coffield. News and notes about Butler's
- 2:34Speaker 1: in Love.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Have a little bit plus I have a little deep
- 2:37Speaker 2: dive info on like real life Butler academies.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Buttling buttling, which is actually a real word. It is. Indeed,
- 2:45Speaker 1: this movie was filmed in Burnaby, British Columbia, November twenty
- 2:48Speaker 1: twenty one.
- 2:49Speaker 2: There was a scene where they were outside and you
- 2:52Speaker 2: could see their breath and my husband, who watched this
- 2:54Speaker 2: one with me, was like, WHOA looks cold there. I'm like, yeah,
- 2:56Speaker 2: it was probably filmed in February in Canada, and I.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Was right November. But yeah, what did I say February? Uh,
- 3:04Speaker 1: you guys know what I meant. I didn't mean November.
- 3:06Speaker 1: It's so cold in my house that Wenny and I
- 3:08Speaker 1: are both holding with both of our hands mugs of
- 3:12Speaker 1: hot drinks as close to our faces as he possibly can.
- 3:15Speaker 1: It's like sixty five degrees in here. That's cold to me,
- 3:17Speaker 1: and ply the home that's gold inside.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Maxwell Cawfield, who played mister Willoughby in this movie, was
- 3:25Speaker 2: also the hot guy who was in Greece too.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I have never seen Greece two. It's super cringey, Like
- 3:32Speaker 1: I mean Greece one was too, like, we is problematic,
- 3:35Speaker 1: we know, but Grease Too was like, yeah, they had
- 3:40Speaker 1: a song called reproduction and it was just what you
- 3:43Speaker 1: think it means, Like science class. They're all dancing around
- 3:47Speaker 1: in science class talking about reproduction. Yeah. Yeah, but the
- 3:51Speaker 1: hot British guy who drove the motorcycle. Does it get
- 3:54Speaker 1: to be British in that movie? He is?
- 3:56Speaker 2: And in fact I read an article an interview from
- 3:59Speaker 2: him that said, like this, this is the first time
- 4:00Speaker 2: that he got to play a British actor since Grease Too.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Oh, it's been a long time. I loved his British
- 4:06Speaker 1: accent in this movie. Well. I thought it lent gravitas
- 4:09Speaker 1: to his butler instructor character. I did. Wow. Henry, who
- 4:17Speaker 1: is portrayed by Corey Cott, is best known for playing
- 4:20Speaker 1: Jack Kelly on Broadway in Newsy's Have you seen Newsy's
- 4:24Speaker 1: on Broadway? Never? I'd love to.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I'm not familiar with the show. I know it's they
- 4:28Speaker 2: wear those cute little hats and j yeah and dance around.
- 4:32Speaker 2: But I gotta tell you, I really liked Corey Kott.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I loved Corycott. I'm like, who are you? I like you? You know,
- 4:40Speaker 1: I did not know that he was on Broadway, but
- 4:44Speaker 1: his IMDb he's oddly left off of the Butler's in
- 4:47Speaker 1: Love IMDb page, but his own IMDb page does list
- 4:51Speaker 1: his role in Butler's in Love, which I thought was interesting.
- 4:54Speaker 1: But this is clearly his first starring role on screen.
- 4:59Speaker 1: So interesting to hear that he has more of a
- 5:02Speaker 1: stage resume than screen. But Corey Cott, look, some of
- 5:08Speaker 1: our dudes of Hallmark are aging, which is good. Fine, great,
- 5:12Speaker 1: that's that's what you want to happen, better than the alternative. Huh.
- 5:16Speaker 1: But I like this younger, Corey Cott. Bring him in, okay,
- 5:20Speaker 1: make him a regular. Well, you know what's funny is
- 5:22Speaker 1: that he, I read, took over the role from Hallmark
- 5:26Speaker 1: railer Jeremy Jordan, who we last saw and mix up
- 5:30Speaker 1: in the Mediterranean. Jeremy Jordan's all right, yeah, it's not
- 5:34Speaker 1: the same Jeremy Jordan. It's not. But I can't I
- 5:37Speaker 1: can't hear that name. It's all yep without saying it
- 5:39Speaker 1: in my mind. Well, I love how you threw a
- 5:41Speaker 1: little Beverly Hills nine O two and oh into this
- 5:44Speaker 1: because I have a note about Beverly Hills nine and
- 5:47Speaker 1: two and oh later and Okay, yeah, Stacy Farber plays
- 5:50Speaker 1: Emma Conroy. She had a pretty large role in Virgin
- 5:54Speaker 1: River season three, and I was thinking, gosh, I don't
- 5:55Speaker 1: remember her. That's because I have not finished.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Oh that's a Netflix show, right, Yeah, I will watched
- 6:01Speaker 2: the first two seasons. Yeah, that's not for me, that show. Sorry,
- 6:04Speaker 2: it's a little too hallmarky for you, probably it is.
- 6:07Speaker 2: She's also in de Grassi the Next Generation, which I
- 6:10Speaker 2: never watched that show either, but I have a twenty
- 6:12Speaker 2: five year old sister who I think it was right
- 6:14Speaker 2: in that line.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Ah, yeah, yeah, I see that.
- 6:18Speaker 2: She also has been in an episode of Unreal, which
- 6:23Speaker 2: Unreal is now the new what's that one show?
- 6:26Speaker 1: That upon a Time and Once upon a Time.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like everybody's been in Every Hallmark actor has
- 6:32Speaker 2: been in that movie. Do you have any more news
- 6:34Speaker 2: and notes?
- 6:34Speaker 1: Well? Anna White, the writer of this movie, says that
- 6:37Speaker 1: she based this Butler Academy on the Butler Academy in
- 6:40Speaker 1: the Netherlands, which you can find at butlerschool dot com.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Very interesting so because my deep dive has revealed that
- 6:50Speaker 2: the International Butler Academy is considered the only professional butler
- 6:55Speaker 2: school in the world. Which is where, I don't know,
- 6:59Speaker 2: somewhere had Euros'll let me look. It is in the Netherlands.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Maybe this is the one. Is it Butler school dot com?
- 7:05Speaker 1: Is that their website? It is? Okay? Okay? So well good,
- 7:10Speaker 1: all right.
- 7:10Speaker 2: At least she was going to like the source of
- 7:14Speaker 2: you know, the place people think is the top place.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Yeah, she had clearly done her research. It felt like
- 7:20Speaker 1: to me, it felt like she knew what was up with,
- 7:23Speaker 1: like place settings and wine parry okay, and cufflink lengths,
- 7:29Speaker 1: et cetera. Okay, okay, more about Butler.
- 7:32Speaker 2: So, it's a ten week training program. It's eight hundred
- 7:35Speaker 2: curriculum hours. Okay in ten weeks is a lot, right?
- 7:39Speaker 1: Is that? That just seems like full time to me? Okay? Yeah?
- 7:41Speaker 1: Eighty hours a week. Yeah, ye, forty hours a week
- 7:44Speaker 1: times two months. My math is bad, guys. Sorry.
- 7:47Speaker 2: It costs approximately sixteen thousand US dollars.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that seems like a lot of money for two
- 7:56Speaker 1: months go to school there. But it's all inclusive, which
- 7:58Speaker 1: includes housing and utiful form and field trips and stuff
- 8:02Speaker 1: like that. Okay.
- 8:04Speaker 2: The curriculum includes are you ready for it? I am
- 8:07Speaker 2: the life of a butler. The modern butler staff management,
- 8:11Speaker 2: house management, table management, laundry management, communication, pet management, etiquette
- 8:17Speaker 2: and protocol, cooking, and miscellaneous, which includes flower arranging, character building, chauffeuring,
- 8:24Speaker 2: etiquette and security.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Well, you weren't a lot of hats indeed, right, Yeah,
- 8:30Speaker 1: and maybe you just are managing people who wear those hats.
- 8:33Speaker 1: But you still need to know the ins and outs
- 8:34Speaker 1: of their job. Yeah, manage them.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Right, But here is the bummer of it all. The
- 8:42Speaker 2: average butler salary, according to salary dot com is.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I want you to guess it's updated twenty twenty two
- 8:49Speaker 1: as well. What do you think forty five thousand dollars
- 8:51Speaker 1: a year?
- 8:52Speaker 2: Average is sixty three thousand dollars a year. The range
- 8:57Speaker 2: typically falls between fifty five and seventy three.
- 9:01Speaker 1: I wonder did that? Do they get room and board?
- 9:03Speaker 1: I don't know. That's a good question. Are they living
- 9:06Speaker 1: in the homes where they are butlers? Would you do
- 9:10Speaker 1: all that stuff for sixty three thousand dollars a year?
- 9:12Speaker 1: I would be a terrible person to work at that
- 9:15Speaker 1: level of service. I wouldn't I'd killed the game? Would you?
- 9:20Speaker 1: You don't think so? You like being told to do
- 9:23Speaker 1: that much? Yeah? I like all that. Sure, yuh. I
- 9:27Speaker 1: mean if I was like single with no kids, maybe
- 9:33Speaker 1: it feels exhausting to me. It does now let me
- 9:36Speaker 1: I watch a show on Bravo called Below Deck. Yeah,
- 9:41Speaker 1: it's basically like they're buttling well, and one about the
- 9:44Speaker 1: women in this show was wanting to be a yacht butler.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Who was oh on the movie that we want I
- 9:50Speaker 1: don't want to put it that her room roommate. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 9:54Speaker 1: that felt like it brought it into the twenty first
- 9:56Speaker 1: century to me, her talking about being a yacht butler
- 9:58Speaker 1: as opposed to just like in some old castle. Does
- 10:02Speaker 1: this thing actually exist? Yes? Yeah? I mean where do
- 10:05Speaker 1: butlers exist? The White House? Do you think I'm sure
- 10:09Speaker 1: that you know for sure? Jeff Bezos home, I don't know. Yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Are they more prevalent in European home? Yeah? I don't
- 10:20Speaker 1: know either. But for sixty three thousand dollars a year,
- 10:24Speaker 1: it's not well to think about it. If you're getting
- 10:26Speaker 1: room and board, so you're not paying rent, you're not
- 10:29Speaker 1: paying for food, you're not paying for utilities. Maybe you
- 10:32Speaker 1: have the use of a car that could really round
- 10:35Speaker 1: that value above three figures. Pretty quickly you get the
- 10:38Speaker 1: weekends off. Do you get a holiday? I don't know.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I don't know either those I don't know.
- 10:43Speaker 2: If anybody knows the ins and outs of being a butler,
- 10:46Speaker 2: please email us so curious.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Yeah, because if you're making sixty three thousand dollars a
- 10:51Speaker 1: year and you can just bank all of that because
- 10:53Speaker 1: you don't have to pay for anything, not a bad limon. Yeah.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I mean, if you're just paying for like a dinner
- 10:59Speaker 1: out every once in while, while just kitchen kitchen on,
- 11:01Speaker 1: you're two days off a year that you apparently get. Yeah.
- 11:04Speaker 2: That's why being a boat butler, a yacht butler is
- 11:09Speaker 2: a better deal, I think, because you do get days
- 11:11Speaker 2: off between charter according to below deck. Yeah so, and
- 11:16Speaker 2: there's a season a yachting seas of course, yes, so
- 11:20Speaker 2: see sure see, I don't know. If I didn't get
- 11:24Speaker 2: seasick on a boat, I would do that maybe, yeah,
- 11:28Speaker 2: And if I was, I would No, I would not,
- 11:31Speaker 2: I would not. Let's have first impressions, my dear, I
- 11:35Speaker 2: forgot to write one down.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna do. I'm going to do mine.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Then I'm ready show me a child who aspires to
- 11:42Speaker 2: be in a butler. When I grow up, man, it
- 11:43Speaker 2: doesn't exist.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Do not understand the pull of the Downton Abbey which
- 11:48Speaker 1: we need to discuss in a minute. We need to
- 11:49Speaker 1: discuss in a minute. Don't say anything.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I'm not going to say anything like from me, I'm
- 11:53Speaker 2: not going to say anything. But like, I think, you
- 11:55Speaker 2: grow up and you want to be royalty. You don't
- 11:57Speaker 2: want to work for royalty. I mean, this is a
- 12:00Speaker 2: real type a personality here. She's like, I want to
- 12:02Speaker 2: be in charge. I want to be the person running
- 12:04Speaker 2: that household. No, I grew up watching Beverly Hills nine
- 12:09Speaker 2: or two, and oh here's my example. I didn't want
- 12:12Speaker 2: to work at the Beverly Hills Beach Club like Brandon did.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I wanted to be a member at the Beverly Hills
- 12:16Speaker 2: Beach Club like Kelly.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Sure, me too.
- 12:18Speaker 2: So it just is so weird to me that there
- 12:21Speaker 2: would be like this little girl watching this Downton Abbey
- 12:27Speaker 2: type show where she wants to be the hbic.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Right, but she's not royalty head butler and guys, that
- 12:41Speaker 1: was a by accident, but she's not. So what's the
- 12:44Speaker 1: next best thing? What's how else can she have this life?
- 12:48Speaker 1: This is the only way she's not Royalty's, she's not
- 12:51Speaker 1: a lady.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Okay, fine, but I just I don't know that feels
- 12:54Speaker 2: like a job of servitude that like.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Okay, but to your nine O two one oh beach
- 13:00Speaker 1: Club point, did you watch Save by the Bell when
- 13:02Speaker 1: they worked at the beach club. No, And like Zach
- 13:06Speaker 1: and Kelly, they all had their beach club uniforms. That
- 13:08Speaker 1: didn't appeal to me because it was all of them
- 13:12Speaker 1: working together that looked like a fun job. Yeah, I
- 13:16Speaker 1: hear that. I hear that. I guess there are people
- 13:20Speaker 1: out there I'm not seeing.
- 13:21Speaker 2: The person doesn't exist. It's just not for me, even
- 13:24Speaker 2: though I think I would do an awesome job at it.
- 13:28Speaker 1: She's Carson, y'all. She thinks she's Carson. Here's what I
- 13:31Speaker 1: like it is, Carson, give me a minute, okay, all right.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I loved so much the deep nod to Downton Abbey
- 13:39Speaker 1: in the opening. The music is like two notes off
- 13:43Speaker 1: of the Downton Abbey opening sequence. The scenes of them
- 13:46Speaker 1: setting the table and lighting the fires and setting up
- 13:48Speaker 1: the house is the Downton Abbey opening. It's so close
- 13:51Speaker 1: to infringing on copyright violation, but it was so great.
- 13:55Speaker 1: And then of course they pull back and she's watching
- 13:58Speaker 1: a television show. I have seen down to Nabby all
- 14:01Speaker 1: the way through at least twice. I love that show.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I love it. I understood why she loved that show,
- 14:07Speaker 1: and I understood why watching that show because Carson, who
- 14:10Speaker 1: is the head butler in this home, he's part of
- 14:12Speaker 1: their family, and they later on, Emma shows a scene
- 14:17Speaker 1: to Henry where the head butler and one of the
- 14:19Speaker 1: ladies of the house. He's like, that's a very inappropriate relationship.
- 14:22Speaker 1: But that is the Carson Lady Mary relationship, like he
- 14:24Speaker 1: loves her above all else. So I could understand wanting
- 14:28Speaker 1: to be that important to someone. You want to be
- 14:32Speaker 1: the person, not the person that's important to them. If
- 14:35Speaker 1: I had my way, I guess you want to be
- 14:38Speaker 1: the person who someone's like lighting your fire and combing
- 14:41Speaker 1: your hair at night. Of course I do, of course
- 14:44Speaker 1: I do. But I'm also not that person. I'm just
- 14:48Speaker 1: I don't want to be that person. I don't want
- 14:49Speaker 1: to comb somebody's hair.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Like when I say, like I could kill the butler game.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I don't want to comb somebody's hair.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I want to like manage the person who's going to
- 14:55Speaker 1: comb my hair, arrange the flowers, and to set the table.
- 14:57Speaker 1: That's what I want to do. And it's not far
- 14:59Speaker 1: from like my mom being mommy right, you know what
- 15:03Speaker 1: I mean? Unpaid. Yeah, it's way less than six that's
- 15:08Speaker 1: why we're not ironing table loves. Oh my god, I
- 15:12Speaker 1: just I love that down to an Abbey moment. I
- 15:14Speaker 1: loved it so much.
- 15:15Speaker 2: This is a show I've not seen, Guys, I don't
- 15:18Speaker 2: I just I don't know if I could do it well.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Like I said earlier, I really liked Corey Cott. I
- 15:22Speaker 2: thought he was nice calming balance to Emma's over the top,
- 15:27Speaker 2: I'm a buffoon demeanor, like she thought she could do
- 15:32Speaker 2: a job, but she like she really couldn't. And I
- 15:34Speaker 2: thought it played nicely because there's a scene between them
- 15:37Speaker 2: where he I think they were talking about like wine
- 15:40Speaker 2: pairings or something, and he's like, it's all about balance,
- 15:43Speaker 2: and I was like, yes, he is the balance, Like
- 15:46Speaker 2: he balances Emma, like he's real like this way and
- 15:50Speaker 2: she's real like this way. And I'm making like an
- 15:52Speaker 2: up and high a scale a scale yes, thank you.
- 15:58Speaker 2: So I thought like he balanced her out, and that's
- 16:01Speaker 2: what I liked about him. I just found him so
- 16:03Speaker 2: like dreamy in a way.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. I loved their kiss at the end. Yeah,
- 16:11Speaker 1: she just like walks forward and puts that arm. I
- 16:13Speaker 1: just loved it.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Loved it well when she they were gonna kiss, like
- 16:17Speaker 2: in the park on a walk at one point, and
- 16:20Speaker 2: then she stops and I'm like, what a tease because
- 16:23Speaker 2: she was giving them those doe eyes, like make a.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Move, dude, and then she's like, we can't. I just
- 16:32Speaker 1: was like, I hate this stuff. When he's gonna get canceled?
- 16:36Speaker 1: Am I by who?
- 16:37Speaker 2: The Hallmark listeners, women and men of the world.
- 16:40Speaker 1: You have the right to say no at any point.
- 16:43Speaker 1: You're right, but you're right, Okay, you can change your
- 16:47Speaker 1: mind at anyway. I don't. Well at that point, I
- 16:49Speaker 1: was like, what difference does it make make out with him?
- 16:51Speaker 1: You can still go back and work hard and study,
- 16:53Speaker 1: but make out on the walk a little fun, live
- 16:56Speaker 1: a little agree.
- 16:58Speaker 2: I like Stacey Farbert.
- 17:01Speaker 1: This is her first homewark moyvie, Is that right? She
- 17:04Speaker 1: was like, okay, Like she's not a bad actress. I
- 17:06Speaker 1: just don't like her character so like it. But I
- 17:09Speaker 1: liked her like she was like young and vibrant, and funny.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I just didn't like Emma. Sorry, well are you ready
- 17:17Speaker 1: for what we wish for? No?
- 17:18Speaker 2: I have one more liked, but it comes with a butt.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I liked the tension that Henry's parents brought to it, Yeah,
- 17:27Speaker 2: and the like pressure that they put on him. But
- 17:31Speaker 2: how much do I believe that there's this like lineage
- 17:34Speaker 2: of butlers, especially in like a family. You're looking at
- 17:37Speaker 2: me like I'm crazy? Does downt Nabbey have like a
- 17:40Speaker 2: lineage of butler's I.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Don't know, but no I don't. I'm not looking at
- 17:43Speaker 1: you like you're crazy. I did think at some point
- 17:45Speaker 1: it was like how many times does he need to
- 17:47Speaker 1: say to you he doesn't want to do this? And
- 17:49Speaker 1: his father, having been this incredible butler, I think should
- 17:53Speaker 1: know that someone whose full heart isn't in it is
- 17:56Speaker 1: not going to be a great butler given the amount
- 17:59Speaker 1: of devotion of your time and energy it takes. At
- 18:04Speaker 1: some point it feels like his dad would been like, well,
- 18:06Speaker 1: this isn't what I want for you, but you're gonna
- 18:07Speaker 1: suck at this and give our family a bad name. Okay, Yeah,
- 18:11Speaker 1: like you're not, You're gonna burn out, you hate it,
- 18:13Speaker 1: You're not going to like it. Well, and the thing
- 18:15Speaker 1: is just like I don't know how old Henry was
- 18:17Speaker 1: supposed to be, but like he's in a grown ass
- 18:19Speaker 1: adult he can't be like look, yeah, it took me
- 18:21Speaker 1: not doing it. Yeah, yes, took him way too long
- 18:24Speaker 1: to be like listen, mom and dad, I'm not going
- 18:27Speaker 1: to seventeen Butler schools for you to finally realize he's
- 18:29Speaker 1: like the rebel that gets kicked out of Butler School
- 18:33Speaker 1: for jerking around with his place settings. Yeah, so let's
- 18:37Speaker 1: talk about what we wished for. I wish that Emma
- 18:41Speaker 1: wasn't such a bumbling idiot. She's clearly capable. She's been
- 18:45Speaker 1: prepping for this moment her entire life. I do not
- 18:47Speaker 1: buy that she cannot get her play setting act together.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's a real shame because that's the writer
- 18:55Speaker 2: who is who has to.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Like put this like.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Lean idiot in this role. She can't put like a capable,
- 19:03Speaker 2: strong woman in this.
- 19:04Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Like it just is like it's this like stereotype of
- 19:08Speaker 2: like I'm an idiot and this guy's gonna come and
- 19:11Speaker 2: he's gonna help me.
- 19:12Speaker 1: I needed the conflict to come from elsewhere because she's
- 19:15Speaker 1: been preparing for this, she's been studying for this. She works,
- 19:18Speaker 1: you know, in a restaurant, practicing these things. Certainly she's
- 19:21Speaker 1: there's a place to look up play settings, and she's
- 19:23Speaker 1: been practicing this at home. I just don't buy that
- 19:26Speaker 1: someone as dedicated as she is cannot get her act together.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I agree, and they blow it off as stage right
- 19:33Speaker 1: m but no, yeah, I agree too. I wish for
- 19:37Speaker 1: a better a better script. Sorry.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Like I said, I watched it with my husband and
- 19:43Speaker 2: he's like, this movie could have been about anything.
- 19:45Speaker 1: It could have been. They could have been accountants, like
- 19:48Speaker 1: it was. And the joke is that he's my husband's
- 19:50Speaker 1: an account but like he's right, they're like doing like
- 19:54Speaker 1: a job, so you could slight No, you could put
- 19:57Speaker 1: any job in like whatever they were doing, accounting, crocheting,
- 20:03Speaker 1: I don't podcasting, you know what I mean. Yeah, it
- 20:05Speaker 1: just was like it was too cookie cutter for me. Really. Yeah,
- 20:11Speaker 1: you know it's funny because I felt like this was
- 20:13Speaker 1: a little bit different. It felt a little bit different.
- 20:16Speaker 1: One thing I liked that I didn't mention is I
- 20:19Speaker 1: liked that it felt like our writer Anna White had
- 20:21Speaker 1: done her research so that when they're in those scenes
- 20:23Speaker 1: about play settings and about how butler dresses and all
- 20:26Speaker 1: of these things that it felt like reality, like we
- 20:30Speaker 1: were in a classroom with them. I like that part.
- 20:33Speaker 1: And I appreciate that the writer made the effort to
- 20:36Speaker 1: understand the topic that she is writing a movie about. Yeah,
- 20:41Speaker 1: because we've complained about that before in the past, where
- 20:43Speaker 1: there would be like an influencer storyline. And I'm not
- 20:45Speaker 1: calling us influencers, we just have an understanding of it. Sure,
- 20:48Speaker 1: and you know it's like completely wrong or whatever. It's like,
- 20:51Speaker 1: come on, do the research.
- 20:52Speaker 2: So she obviously either has experience with somebody who is
- 20:56Speaker 2: a butler or did the research right. And I can
- 20:58Speaker 2: appreciate that. Liked Emma and Henry as friends that pears.
- 21:03Speaker 2: I did not find them.
- 21:04Speaker 1: To be a romantic that much.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I loved their chemistry really okay, and immediately, like I
- 21:09Speaker 2: fell asleep at the very very end.
- 21:12Speaker 1: So here's my question. Here's my question.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Did she take the job that ye parents got her
- 21:19Speaker 2: and then quit and went to wherever he was chefing
- 21:21Speaker 2: at chefing whatever.
- 21:22Speaker 1: She's like driving away and he's like walking down the
- 21:25Speaker 1: lane to her, and she gets out of her cab
- 21:28Speaker 1: and that's where they have their kiss. That's why you
- 21:30Speaker 1: don't know the kiss because you didn't see it happened
- 21:32Speaker 1: in the woods.
- 21:32Speaker 2: I saw a kiss that happened. Like they're in front
- 21:35Speaker 2: of like they're in a kitchen.
- 21:38Speaker 1: They're in like as the pivotal moment of the movie.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I don't know. She takes the job, she likes it,
- 21:46Speaker 1: but they're basically they're like, yeah, you're not gonna have
- 21:48Speaker 1: a light. This was what didn't really what bothered me.
- 21:51Speaker 1: They're like, you're not really gonna have a life out
- 21:52Speaker 1: of here, which she kind of knew, but I guess
- 21:54Speaker 1: she was like, oh, well, now that I want to
- 21:56Speaker 1: bang Henry, I maybe do want a life out of here.
- 21:58Speaker 1: You don't see her quit. You just see her throw
- 22:00Speaker 1: her bag in a cab. They're driving away and Henry's
- 22:03Speaker 1: walking down the lane to her, so she says, stops
- 22:05Speaker 1: us up and she gets out, and he tells her
- 22:09Speaker 1: that he's told his parents and he's gonna go get
- 22:12Speaker 1: a job, and she's like, oh, I quit, let's go
- 22:15Speaker 1: off together. And then the next scene they're in that
- 22:16Speaker 1: hotel that they were in together before because he knew
- 22:19Speaker 1: that chef and he apparently oh, he had gone They
- 22:22Speaker 1: don't say this, but evidently he had gone back and
- 22:24Speaker 1: asked for a job, and she evidently had gotten a
- 22:27Speaker 1: job there, so they can have some sort of work
- 22:29Speaker 1: life bounce. So that is their second kiss. You missed
- 22:31Speaker 1: the good kiss? Well, I fell asleep. It was a
- 22:33Speaker 1: good kiss. It was it was well shot.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Okay, maybe I'll go back and just watch that part.
- 22:39Speaker 2: But okay, okay, let's move on to Did you see.
- 22:42Speaker 1: That her mom does not age?
- 22:44Speaker 2: No?
- 22:45Speaker 1: I know that was so funny, right, like put a
- 22:47Speaker 1: wig on her, put some fank wrinkles on or something.
- 22:50Speaker 1: The actress's name is Rebecca Davis. She is forty one
- 22:53Speaker 1: years old. Stacy Farber is thirty four, So there is
- 22:55Speaker 1: a seven year age differends And that just goes to
- 22:59Speaker 1: show you what the movies think about women. Because a
- 23:03Speaker 1: forty one year old was old enough to play the
- 23:05Speaker 1: mother of this thirty year old actress. Well, I wonder
- 23:08Speaker 1: if Stacy Farber's the Emma character is supposed to be
- 23:12Speaker 1: younger than that in the twenties, in her twenties, she's
- 23:17Speaker 1: forty one years old, even though she was twenty one.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I know, I know she'd be only twenty No, I know,
- 23:22Speaker 1: I get it. No, because she had gone to college
- 23:24Speaker 1: and then she had gotten all these jobs, and she'd
- 23:26Speaker 1: been applying for years, I mean maybe in her twenties still,
- 23:29Speaker 1: and it's only a few years older. The castine is
- 23:31Speaker 1: always wrong in these movies. They're either, I mean.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Case in point, Joe Bradley from Oh, she's not been
- 23:40Speaker 2: playing a man who's looking at retirement. He come on,
- 23:47Speaker 2: And when we have like moms, they're either super old
- 23:50Speaker 2: grandma's or they're forty one year old women.
- 23:53Speaker 1: To thirty year old children. Yes, so do better, castine
- 23:58Speaker 1: call us. Okay. When Henry crashes into Emma at the beginning, yeah,
- 24:03Speaker 1: she's like holding on those plates like she's even a
- 24:05Speaker 1: freaking circus trick, right, and he crashes into her and
- 24:08Speaker 1: all the plates shatter into a million pieces on like carpet.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I was like, really, so stupid, Like I just was like,
- 24:16Speaker 1: that's not really they would have just fallen maybe broken,
- 24:20Speaker 1: but not into like shards. Sure, that's not dramatic though,
- 24:24Speaker 1: I'm just annoyed by stupid shit like that. They had
- 24:27Speaker 1: to make her look like mumbling idiot. Well, it wasn't
- 24:30Speaker 1: her fault, it was his fault, Oh BUDDA butler should
- 24:33Speaker 1: always be aware of their surroundings.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna tell you a quick story one time,
- 24:37Speaker 2: and I'm sure I told you this before. I threw
- 24:40Speaker 2: my husband a birthday party at Angel Stadium, which is
- 24:42Speaker 2: a baseball stadium here in southern California, and I rented out.
- 24:48Speaker 1: A big, huge suite.
- 24:49Speaker 2: It was for his thirtieth birthday. The doors to the
- 24:53Speaker 2: suite opened out, so if you're inside the suite, the
- 24:58Speaker 2: doors opened out. And when you rent a suite, they
- 25:02Speaker 2: have like the service that comes with, like the food
- 25:05Speaker 2: and then whatever, and the drink cart.
- 25:06Speaker 1: In this it was very cool. They bring the dessert cart.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Somebody, one of the people who brought it put it
- 25:13Speaker 2: in front of the door. I opened the door to
- 25:16Speaker 2: go to the bathroom and knock over the cart in
- 25:19Speaker 2: the hallway, and the lady was mad at me, and
- 25:23Speaker 2: I was like, you're the dummy who put it there.
- 25:27Speaker 2: I don't know how this is at all relevant of
- 25:29Speaker 2: Butler's in Love.
- 25:30Speaker 1: You felt Emma's pain, You did not feel like she
- 25:32Speaker 1: should have been blamed dropping the plane. Exactly, Yes, exactly.
- 25:36Speaker 1: There's a butler in training in this movie who has
- 25:38Speaker 1: no lines. She doesn't appear on the IMDb page. She's
- 25:41Speaker 1: a woman, but she's fighting for her life on screen.
- 25:45Speaker 1: She there's a moment where they parade into the dining
- 25:47Speaker 1: room for their synchronized service, and she's got a pageant
- 25:51Speaker 1: smile on. She's in the front of that line and
- 25:52Speaker 1: she walks in, head held high. She's like, this is
- 25:55Speaker 1: my moment. There's another scene where Emma and Henry are
- 25:59Speaker 1: saying goodbye to each other in the lobby of this
- 26:02Speaker 1: butler school, and she walks by and they kind of
- 26:05Speaker 1: say like, oh, bye bye to a couple of people.
- 26:07Speaker 1: This one walks by, turns to face them, big smile
- 26:10Speaker 1: on her face, waves at them, and then walks away.
- 26:12Speaker 1: They don't even acknowledge her. But she's like, I am
- 26:15Speaker 1: getting my moment.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I wonder if that's like the writer's friend spouse, you
- 26:20Speaker 2: know something?
- 26:21Speaker 1: You know, look at her nothing that's so funny. I
- 26:25Speaker 1: didn't notice that. Let's talk about her sad grilled cheese
- 26:28Speaker 1: sandwich though, Yeah, what was happening there? Why was she
- 26:32Speaker 1: making a.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Grilled cheese sandwich? I get like, butlers need to like
- 26:35Speaker 2: know something about food preparation. But she made a grilled
- 26:39Speaker 2: cheese sandwich. Yeah that any child can probably make and
- 26:44Speaker 2: burns the hell out of it. And I'm not saying
- 26:46Speaker 2: that I haven't burned a grilled cheese sandwich in my
- 26:50Speaker 2: forty six years online.
- 26:52Speaker 1: But here he.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Goes, Oh, put some greare and apples in it and
- 26:57Speaker 2: it will balance the burnt whatever.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Okay, but okay, the sandwich is done. At that point
- 27:04Speaker 1: is he telling her to put I understand, like the
- 27:06Speaker 1: apple slice maybe on top, like whatever. But she's just
- 27:08Speaker 1: put on the slice and she is on top of
- 27:09Speaker 1: this already grilled cheese sandwich. No, it goes inside a
- 27:12Speaker 1: great and she takes a bite and she's like, oh yeah,
- 27:14Speaker 1: like it made a difference. Well, when did you Your
- 27:17Speaker 1: sandwich was already made. Yeah, there's no weird slice of
- 27:20Speaker 1: cheese on top and the slice of apple bad. Yeah, come
- 27:23Speaker 1: over while she's cooking it. Yes, good, I'm glad you sought. Yeah,
- 27:27Speaker 1: glad you sought the chalkboard ringings. Yeah.
- 27:31Speaker 2: First of all, how devastating. When we were like in
- 27:35Speaker 2: college they would like or even high school would put
- 27:37Speaker 2: like your what your grades up?
- 27:41Speaker 1: Yeah? In college it wasn't our name though. I think
- 27:44Speaker 1: it was like the last four of our social like
- 27:46Speaker 1: there was some sort of like animanimity, Yeah, is that
- 27:49Speaker 1: the right one? But I was like, she's like looking,
- 27:55Speaker 1: you don't think she didn't. She knew she had to
- 27:57Speaker 1: be like last. There's also like twelve on the board.
- 28:00Speaker 1: It's not that hard to find your Emma. I know
- 28:02Speaker 1: she's It was like a big scene. She's looking like
- 28:05Speaker 1: finding her name on a cast list. Yes, exactly, Are
- 28:08Speaker 1: I gonna be Mary Poppins. It's like she burnt this sandwich,
- 28:14Speaker 1: she dropped the plate, drop the plance at a table
- 28:17Speaker 1: for shit. Yeah, I'm like, what of course you're last dumb.
- 28:23Speaker 1: But the funny thing is she goes to mister Willoughby
- 28:25Speaker 1: and she's like, would you write me a letter of recommation?
- 28:26Speaker 1: And he goes, you suck no, and she's like I know, yeah.
- 28:31Speaker 1: At no point does she even really defend hers. She's like,
- 28:33Speaker 1: I don't really know what's wrong with me. He's like
- 28:34Speaker 1: I don't know either.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Well, and at one point too, like uh, Henry says like, oh,
- 28:38Speaker 2: we're going out or whatever. He's like a bunch of
- 28:42Speaker 2: us are going out and she's like, well, I'm studying
- 28:44Speaker 2: my place settings. I was like, really, like how hard
- 28:48Speaker 2: is it. It can't be that hard. I know you'd
- 28:51Speaker 2: like you fork. I learned place settings from Pretty Woman,
- 28:55Speaker 2: you know what I mean? There's a salad fork and
- 28:58Speaker 2: a dinner fork on your left.
- 29:00Speaker 1: What more, DNA? She had a fish for what that
- 29:02Speaker 1: goes at the top? Does it not? I don't know. See,
- 29:05Speaker 1: it's just so I could study it and learn it.
- 29:07Speaker 1: But then he says, a bunch of us are going out,
- 29:09Speaker 1: and then just the two of them, and she's just
- 29:10Speaker 1: the two of them. My husband said the same thing.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Where's everybody else? You know?
- 29:13Speaker 2: It's so funny, okay. And there was one other scene
- 29:16Speaker 2: like where they were doing like their almost like choreographed
- 29:24Speaker 2: place setting. Not it was like they were being graded
- 29:27Speaker 2: on it.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Yeah, do you know what I'm talking about? No, it
- 29:30Speaker 1: was like like the two of them was the two
- 29:32Speaker 1: bumbling idiots? Or was it Emma and Henry?
- 29:35Speaker 2: No, it was Emma and Henry and there It wasn't
- 29:38Speaker 2: like that cute scene when he's like draw a, draw
- 29:40Speaker 2: a settings when they're being graded. I know they're being raided,
- 29:43Speaker 2: which like when did why are the butlers doing a choreograph?
- 29:46Speaker 1: Like why are they doing it together?
- 29:48Speaker 2: I don't know, Okay, the next immediate scene, he's like,
- 29:52Speaker 2: I made you dinner.
- 29:54Speaker 1: When when did you do that? Dude? Like they're both
- 29:57Speaker 1: in there, like in their butler out of it stuff.
- 30:00Speaker 1: I was like, that doesn't make any sense. No, I
- 30:03Speaker 1: think it's made. When he made the beef welling tenth
- 30:05Speaker 1: and then she picked the right wine, he's like, oh,
- 30:07Speaker 1: good job. Yeah, and he's got like all his lights
- 30:10Speaker 1: set up outside. Oh yeah. When he says good job
- 30:13Speaker 1: about the wine, I wanted to crawl through the TV
- 30:14Speaker 1: and punch him in the face. Don't good job me.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Would you rate this movie two stars? I gave it three.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I liked it. I did not like it. I just
- 30:25Speaker 1: thought it was so boring. Yeah, I'm sorry. When he goes,
- 30:30Speaker 1: what did you say? Set the expectations and I was like, oh,
- 30:34Speaker 1: it's decent. I hate it. I was really excited for it. Yeah,
- 30:37Speaker 1: I was excited after you said it was decent, and
- 30:39Speaker 1: I was like, all right, cool, cool, cool, cool cool,
- 30:41Speaker 1: Because a three star movie for me is that's a
- 30:43Speaker 1: good score. I know it was. I just know. I
- 30:48Speaker 1: think January, their New Year New Movies, was kind of
- 30:51Speaker 1: a fail. Yeah, it was great overall. Next week there
- 30:56Speaker 1: is no new movie it is a reshowing of the
- 30:58Speaker 1: Wedding Veil. We have already reviewed that movie. You can
- 31:01Speaker 1: go back and give that a listen if you have
- 31:03Speaker 1: not had the chance. We will be back the week
- 31:06Speaker 1: of February twelfth, which is when the Wedding Veil Unveiled
- 31:11Speaker 1: will be on air. Looking forward to it. I am
- 31:13Speaker 1: looking forward to it too. So we Italy in Italy
- 31:17Speaker 1: with an actual Italian Actoor like many of his acting
- 31:21Speaker 1: credits or movies in Italian, so he's not like doing
- 31:23Speaker 1: a fake bonjour, no preche bassa, although I don't think
- 31:27Speaker 1: that was a fake accent, Hyler, but he's yeah, no
- 31:31Speaker 1: fake Boston accents in this one. So we'll be back
- 31:34Speaker 1: with that. We will be back next Tuesday with our
- 31:36Speaker 1: regular Tuesday episode and until then, have a great weekend, everybody.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Goodbye bye,
