- 0:08Speaker 1: Ogre Types of Scenic Awkward.
- 0:17Speaker 1: That's hilarious.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Good morning y'all.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I am so excited to be here.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Let me just turn on my music in the background and I'm gonna send this over to our folks on hold on y'all.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I gotta send this over to the folks on the Facebook streets because we just lost our connection, so let me go ahead and take care of that right now.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And for those of y'all, if you're in the live chat, if you could just go ahead and share as well you just helped me drop it to our prayer group.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Listen, technology is technology, but we have to do whatever we can to make sure we get this word out.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Got a lot of people who listen to us live and I wanna be respectful, so just think about that for a second.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I'm grateful again for this space, but I also have to respect the folks who are giving us our time y'all.
- 1:50Speaker 1: So we had a lot of promos, but I stopped those because I just wanted to make sure that we corrected that and we didn't lose anybody along the way.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So now we're gonna move into worship.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I gotta turn on my music because I have soaking music in the back that just kinda helps me usher in into worship.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Amen, all right.
- 2:10Speaker 1: So for those of y'all who are on Facebook now, you should have the link to YouTube so you can be watching us live there.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Otherwise, cast a replay.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Cast a replay.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So, good morning to everybody on LinkedIn, also on the Parade Deck Faith Channel.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Good morning y'all.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Also on ex, formerly known as Twitter, good morning y'all.
- 2:33Speaker 1: We're gonna be talking about.
- 2:34Speaker 1: This is the third part of our study on matters of the heart, and this week we're gonna be talking about gratitude and contentment and all those things.
- 2:45Speaker 1: So, first off, I was in prayer, as always, I was in prayer before we started, so I'm crash landing into this, okay, so I just thank you, lord.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I am so grateful that you have given us these platform.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I thank you, lord, that you have given me breath this morning.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I'm just grateful for all that you have already done.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Lord, god, my heart just yearns for you, lord, and more than anything, lord, more than anything, I just pray that someone, even one person, will be blessed by what they're hearing today, whether they're catching us live or they're catching us on the replay streets, or they're listening to it on podcasts.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Wherever it is that someone's gonna be blessed.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I'm just so grateful, amen.
- 3:30Speaker 1: So, lord, just ask that you will teach us today about gratitude and being content.
- 3:35Speaker 1: This is a tough one for many people because gratitude is an emotion.
- 3:41Speaker 1: It is not something that's very it's not something we practice.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I mean, I know we all some of us have gratitude journals, some of us live the life of being grateful in different ways, so we show that emotion of being grateful.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I was talking to one of my teammates yesterday and she was just sharing that even simple words like thank you, I can tell, like sometimes in email people, people are so irritated if you say thank you.
- 4:13Speaker 1: They're like I don't need nothing, you don't have to thank me, that's my job.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Okay, then maybe you don't need to be thanked.
- 4:19Speaker 1: You know we become even defensive when it comes to being grateful.
- 4:23Speaker 1: So you know, this is one of those topics again and it's just not easy.
- 4:28Speaker 1: If you're going through a rough time, it's hard sometimes.
- 4:32Speaker 1: You know, because of our emotions.
- 4:35Speaker 1: It's hard to be grateful when we're going through some things.
- 4:38Speaker 1: You know to have that mindset where, even when you're going through some things okay, health, life loss, all those things right it's hard to be grateful when you're in a season of constant change and you don't know where you're going and all those things.
- 4:53Speaker 1: So what we're gonna do today is we're gonna be looking at two verses, two scriptures one in Philippians four and the other one in Luke 17, and we're gonna talk about what does it mean to be grateful and to show gratitude?
- 5:07Speaker 1: And I pray that by the time we finish this morning, that you will have a different mindset and maybe this just encourages you to be grateful.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Right, be grateful, all right.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So now I'm gonna share my screen again.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I have to say all this y'all for those who listen to us later during the week.
- 5:25Speaker 1: They don't know what I'm doing.
- 5:26Speaker 1: So I'm sharing my screen now for Philippians four and I'm actually gonna come down to verses 11 and 12.
- 5:34Speaker 1: This is the ESB version, the AHL version, and I'm gonna read this out.
- 5:39Speaker 1: So it says not that I'm speaking of being in need, for I have learned, in whatever situation I am, to be content.
- 5:47Speaker 1: And if we pause right there, that is one of the biggest challenges that a lot of us have.
- 5:53Speaker 1: In whatever situation are you content, it doesn't mean that you're okay if it's you're being abused.
- 6:01Speaker 1: That's not what it means.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Right, it is even understanding that you need that job.
- 6:07Speaker 1: You know, again, there are people who lost jobs yesterday, some this morning, and because we're on the LinkedIn streets, I have to speak to business and people who are working or not working as well.
- 6:17Speaker 1: This is just what he said to me okay, but even in this situation, to be content, knowing that God is gonna provide for you, you know, it's the reason that you can be content.
- 6:30Speaker 1: You can be content about whatever situation you're in, isn't because you're just the smartest in the room you might be.
- 6:37Speaker 1: It's knowing that God is gonna provide for you, okay.
- 6:42Speaker 1: And so verse 12, it says I know how to be brought low right.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Listen, I know how to be brought low.
- 6:49Speaker 1: I know loss and I know how to abound.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I know how to come back from that right.
- 6:55Speaker 1: In any and every circumstance.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I've learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need right.
- 7:07Speaker 1: It's not gratitude and being grateful to God and grateful for what you have.
- 7:13Speaker 1: It's not about being like it's not like a sugar rush or you know you just, it's not a.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You know, oh, I should just be grateful for the little, and it's not that.
- 7:25Speaker 1: It's when you learn, when you've gone through these things you've been brought low right, when you've been brought low, and you learn the secret of whether you have plenty or hunger, abundance, or you're in need.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Verse 13 tells you here's the secret sasya, I can do all things.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Through him, who strengthens me.
- 7:45Speaker 1: So, regardless of whatever situation I'm in, I can be content because I know listen, I know.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I know that I can do all things, I know that I can abound, I know that I can find plenty, I know that I'm a comeback, I know I'll find the next job.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I know I'll find the next business opportunity.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I know that my relationships are gonna turn around.
- 8:08Speaker 1: I know that I'm gonna be healed.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I know, I know.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I know I can do all things through him, jesus, who strengthens me.
- 8:18Speaker 1: It's not based on my strength, it's him who strengthens me.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Right?
- 8:25Speaker 1: So your, your heart, posture and your attitude and the way you think about things.
- 8:30Speaker 1: That affects your emotion and the emotion of being grateful.
- 8:36Speaker 1: But if you're only relying on your strength, you're going to have a tough time being grateful.
- 8:40Speaker 1: When you go through the seasons of hunger or lack, you're going to have a tough time being content in whatever situation you're in.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Isn't that amazing?
- 8:50Speaker 1: I'm going to show you.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I'm going to show you one more.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Let me show one more.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Yes, amen, tracy is saying I love the scripture.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Throughout my life it's been my guidepost, reminding me that life is going to happen.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Look past current circumstances, focus on the source, that's God, evaluate myself and be grateful.
- 9:08Speaker 1: While she's waiting on God, let me show you another.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Let me show you another, the other scripture I wanted to show you.
- 9:13Speaker 1: This one is a little bit longer, a couple verses, but for y'all is a little bit longer, but I just want to show you this and then we're going to, then we're going to have a conversation.
- 9:21Speaker 1: So Luke 1711, and I'm going to, I'm going to jump around in this one because I don't want to do the whole eight verses for the sake of time.
- 9:31Speaker 1: On the way to Jerusalem, he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee and as he entered the village he was met by 10 lepers who stood at a distance right, because they were lepers, so they weren't allowed into the city.
- 9:42Speaker 1: They had some things going on, they were ill, they couldn't come into the city, they couldn't contaminate, amen.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And lifted up their voices saying Jesus, master, have mercy on us.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And when he saw them, he said to them go and show yourselves to the priest, go and show yourself to the priest.
- 9:58Speaker 1: And as they went, they were cleansed.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back praising God with a loud voice.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Let me just pause right there.
- 10:08Speaker 1: So then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, he turned back on the highlight this, turned back and fell on his face, at Jesus feet, giving him thanks, giving him thanks.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Let me stop sharing.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Let me stop sharing.
- 10:24Speaker 1: You know how I talked about gratitude being an emotion, an emotion.
- 10:29Speaker 1: So there are folks who keep, again, gratitude journals and they've made it a practice and a part of their life.
- 10:37Speaker 1: It's being able to just stop and take stock of what's happening around you.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And we say take stock.
- 10:44Speaker 1: In Jamaica, that means take inventory, okay, evaluate.
- 10:49Speaker 1: As Tracy says, take stock of what's happening in your life so that in every situation you can still be great, you can still find a reason to be grateful.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Now, because I'm a woman of faith, all my grateful.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I'm grateful to God, right, because he is my source, I can do all things through him.
- 11:07Speaker 1: And so just this morning, before I came on, I just started to thank God and just pour out my heart for the things that I'm grateful for.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Now.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Listen, it might be corny, but it really does make a difference when you just take stock, you just pause and you start thinking about the things that you have every right to be grateful for.
- 11:31Speaker 1: So what are we grateful for?
- 11:33Speaker 1: You know, yesterday was Valentine's Day and it was, you know, the romantic holiday.
- 11:39Speaker 1: But not everybody was, you know, in that season of their lives.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Some people were dealing with heartbreak yesterday or, you know, loss.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Yesterday there were, you know, men and women who lost partners and so they weren't able to lost meaning like death, loss, right, so they weren't able to celebrate this, you know, the romantic holiday.
- 11:59Speaker 1: They were coming in from a different perspective, some of again, like I said, some of us, some people, have learned about job losses.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Yesterday it wasn't a romantic day for everybody.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Everybody wasn't on the streets saying how much they loved anything.
- 12:14Speaker 1: But, do you know, can I just encourage you, can I just encourage you, for whatever season you're in, to just take a pause and just be grateful for what you have, where you are and being content in it.
- 12:24Speaker 1: So here's what I did before the call, just to put it in practical terms.
- 12:28Speaker 1: So before the platform.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Again, it doesn't mean that technology isn't going to be technologying and things aren't going to, you know, act crazy.
- 12:37Speaker 1: It's not, you know, it's life.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Life is lifeing right.
- 12:40Speaker 1: But I took a pause before I came on just to tell God what I was grateful for.
- 12:46Speaker 1: So I was pouring out my heart that I was just grateful for this platform, that I was just grateful for him using me as the person who has keys for other people right.
- 12:58Speaker 1: The more that I started just praising God and just just again, not asking for anything, just saying Lord, I'm so grateful for that.
- 13:06Speaker 1: You woke me up this morning.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I'm so grateful that you're using me in this way to bless other people, lord, I'm so.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I'm so grateful that my car started yesterday.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Amen, I'm so grateful I was.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I was able to buy groceries and it wasn't a thought of where the money is coming from.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I was so grateful that you used me to encourage someone who lost their job yesterday.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I'm so grateful that you've given me this family.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I'm grateful for this home.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I'm grateful for my health Y'all.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I've been through some real health challenges for real, for real.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Okay, I'm grateful that you've put breath in my lungs.
- 13:39Speaker 1: When I started going down the list of things just to be grateful for I didn't even get to the big stuff.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I was still in the little stuff.
- 13:46Speaker 1: How grateful I was.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I thank you, lord.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I'm so grateful that you've blessed me.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I'm so grateful that you've given me this abounding grace.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I'm so grateful that you poured out your mercy.
- 13:56Speaker 1: And then I started to just be grateful for the people around me.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I'm grateful for my husband.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I'm grateful for my daughter.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I'm grateful for my siblings.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I'm grateful for my friends.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I'm grateful for the folks who work for me.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I'm grateful for my partners in business.
- 14:10Speaker 1: I'm grateful for the prayer ministry, y'all.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I'm grateful for the three praying sisters.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I'm grateful for LinkedIn.
- 14:19Speaker 1: I'm literally, when you start to pour out your heart for the things that you are grateful for, you start with the small things.
- 14:24Speaker 1: You can't help but bubble up into the larger things.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And so, just like that leper, the one that was truly blessed after he came out of something, after the Lord blessed him with something and he turned back around Right, I'm going to just read this word again.
- 14:39Speaker 1: He said then one of them it means not everybody does this.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I started out by saying that, listen, being grateful, gratitude is an emotion.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Not all of us have this, so the word says in verse 15, then one of them, when he saw that he was healed.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Listen, when he saw, when he opened his eyes and saw that things had turned around, when he saw that he was provided for, when he saw that he was healed, he turned back.
- 15:04Speaker 1: A lot of you come in and you get blessed and you don't even go back to say thank you.
- 15:08Speaker 1: But he turned back and he praised God with a loud voice.
- 15:11Speaker 1: It wasn't undercover.
- 15:12Speaker 1: He was so excited about what had happened, he was so grateful.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Some of you have refused to even say thank you to your bosses because you feel some kind of way that thing should have come quicker to you.
- 15:24Speaker 1: You don't even want to say thank you to your colleagues.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Right, again, senior I'm talking senior leaders right?
- 15:31Speaker 1: People with people with you know titles that you refuse to even say thank you to your secretaries or admins, or you know projects.
- 15:39Speaker 1: You refuse to have to show any gratitude and then, when the challenges come and you you're expecting those same people to help you, come on.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Gratitude is an emotion.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It's an emotion, but I'm telling you, the moment you start, you know just being grateful.
- 15:55Speaker 1: If you're trying to think about, if you're trying to figure out, man, I don't know what to pray for this morning, please start by Lord.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I'm so grateful for you.
- 16:02Speaker 1: You know, I'm just great, lord.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I'm so grateful for you and that was my prayer this morning before I came on.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Lord, no matter what happens this morning, I'm just grateful for this opportunity.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I'm grateful that you selected me.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I'm grateful that you chose me.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I'm grateful that you're anointed me to speak.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I'm grateful that you've given me high favor, high favor.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I'm grateful, I'm grateful.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I'm grateful.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I'm grateful.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Right Before we complain, before we even ask for anything, what are you grateful for?
- 16:38Speaker 1: And that's a heart posture.
- 16:40Speaker 1: That's a heart posture.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Amen, I love it.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I love it so much and I'm telling you you cannot.
- 16:46Speaker 1: When you start out your day, I get why.
- 16:48Speaker 1: It's a practice.
- 16:49Speaker 1: If you start out your day with just being grateful for what you have, then you start to realize how blessed you are.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Even in loss, you start to realize how blessed you are.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:01Speaker 1: So you had a bad health scare.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Lord, I'm grateful that you're giving me doctors to help me, heal me.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Lord, I'm grateful that there's a hospital nearby.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Some of us are so blessed we don't even understand it.
- 17:13Speaker 1: You know, if we're here in the US, there's a hospital you can get to, or an urgent care center.
- 17:20Speaker 1: I'm saying this, I'm Jamaican.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I understand struggle, right, and even in our lives in Jamaica we were very, very blessed, but we still understood struggle that other people went through and were grateful grateful for God for all that he's done for us.
- 17:38Speaker 1: So, father, I have released the keys that you have given me for your people this morning, for those who are still locked in that emotional prison where they refuse to be grateful or even thankful.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I pray, lord God, that the words that you have released will penetrate their hearts and their minds, for them to just be grateful for what they have and where they are, knowing that you are the only one who can supply all of our needs, being confident in everything that you said you would do for us and trusting in you only, lord.
- 18:08Speaker 1: I thank you, lord God, that you stopped by to see about your daughter this morning.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I thank you, lord God, that you have already done so much.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I dare not ask for more, and yet you give me more than I could ever want.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I thank you that the spirit of gratitude will now release and fall over everyone who is under the sound of my voice.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Lord, may penetrate their hearts, lord, god, so that they'll go tell somebody today.
- 18:29Speaker 1: You know, I thank you.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I thank you.
- 18:31Speaker 1: May they be inspired, lord God, to just go tell somebody.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Thank you, oh Lord.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I pray that their prayers, lord God, will, as they release their own prayers to you, it will include the words Lord, I am so grateful for you.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I'm grateful for you, lord God.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I'm thankful to you for everything, lord God, in this, in this season, lord God, where we're learning more about our posture and our heart and the matters of the heart, things concerning our heart, lord God, because what is in our heart, lord God, that's what, that's what we act out.
- 19:00Speaker 1: And so, lord Jesus, I just thank you and I'm so grateful that you've chosen to use me, this broken and chipped vessel, to release your word this morning.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I pray that everyone is blessed, everyone who stands in need, those who stand in need of a word on a job, lord God, or a contract, lord God.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Those who stand in need of a yes on an assignment, lord God.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Those who are walking in their purpose and they're asking you for the next step.
- 19:24Speaker 1: I pray that you'll make the vision plain to them this morning, lord God, to confirmations and dreams and connections, lord God, I pray that every single person who is, who is yearning, lord, god, yearning, yearning to hear from you that they will, and I thank you, lord, for this lesson of gratitude in Jesus name.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Amen, isn't that awesome?
- 19:44Speaker 1: Hashtag grateful, amen, y'all Hashtag grateful.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Tracy, you're right, I gotta put that up.
- 19:51Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Be grateful and go tell somebody thank you today.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Just go tell somebody you know I'm really thank you.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Just go say thank you today.
- 20:00Speaker 1: I'm grateful for you.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I'm so grateful for your support.
