- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: Daily, presented by Gen Jack.com.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Aluga, thanks so much for being here.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Saturday, January 3rd, the sun is not out yet on Saturday.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: But hey, we are talking, Jack Wars football.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Normally, I'd be thinking about bold predictions right now for Jack Wars Titans, and I am going to be thinking about that here very shortly.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: But first, we have to start this morning off.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: Talking about Colvin Lannon.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars have a re-signed or extended Colvin Lannon to a three-year deal worth 51 million.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: I believe it's up to 55 million within cinnives and about 33 million, 32 and a half million guaranteed.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: So this is an average annual value for Colvin Lannon of 17 million and this story is remarkable.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely remarkable.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to break it down really appreciate y'all being here if you enjoy the content It's all jacks all the time.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Please like and subscribe And I'll just check out Jenjag.com pick up some new dude wall gear like the hat I'm wearing right now Helps port the channel look good while doing it again.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: Thank y'all so much This has been such a fun ride not only this season, but even through the dark times 24 23, you know towards the end of it, but yeah
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's just been so much fun and I really appreciate all of y'all tuning in and gauging, chatting with me, so yeah, Cole Van Lannon, Jacksonville, Jack Wars, starting left tackle.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: Three years, 51 million, again, I believe what did we see here, up to 55 with incentives, up to 55 and a half with incentives and 32 and a half.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: million guaranteed.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: So three year deal.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: That means basically the first two years are guaranteed.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's how how it kind of breaks down there.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: Most of the first two years are guaranteed.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: And so 17 million per year base.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: And then up to whatever 55 divided by three is 55 and a half divided by three per year.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: 18.5.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: Basically, he could earn a total value of 18.5 million dollars per year if he plays out of this contract and hits all his incentives.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: Unbelievable, because this is a guy that let's be honest, when this season started, he was closer to being not on the Jaguars roster than to being the Jaguars starting left tackle, when this offseason started.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's absolutely true.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: And now he has proven himself as a guard and a tackle.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: And in my opinion, his best tape has been at tackle for the Jaguars this year.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Colvin Lannon, I'm not going to sit here and pretend that after three years of him just kind of being a, I don't want to say middleing, but a backup certainly not someone that was threatening to crack the starting lineup,
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: after three years of that in Jacksonville after being, a former seventh round pick, I believe, six or seventh round pick by the Packers for him to get to this point in his career.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: Four, six round pick in 2021, 21, 215th overall.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: And just kind of, you know, be riding the way of being an NFL backup.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: for the last four years, five years.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: And now get that big contract, 17 million per year.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's crazy.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: That's crazy.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, he started, like, he missed a lot of training camp, right?
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: He started this season in active for the Jaguars.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't start playing until week four,
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, when when injuries took place, he got in for a start of getting some reps at right guard, played a little bit of left tackle against against the Rams, started playing some left guard, some right tackle, some right guard, against the Titans he played right guard and left tackle.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: So Walker Little got injured with the concussion.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: So Colvane Lane came in and playing right guard.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: They moved him over to left tackle.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: And the rest is history.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: He's been playing left tackle since week 13 for the Jaguars and the way he has played since then has earned him this deal along with the versatility.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: He brings along with this Jaguars organization.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: They've talked about it.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: They want to pay the person.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: and they obviously feel very, very comfortable with the person that Cole Van Linnon is.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: And now this marks the second time in the back half of this year that the Jaguars have signed a player, extended a player, who, in September, were even October, if you would have told Jaguars fans,
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: that the Jaguars would have extended Jacobi Amir's and Colvae and Lannon before the 2025 season ended.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: You be like, wait, what?
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Excuse me?
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: Colvae and Lannon wasn't even a starter.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Amir's wasn't even a Jaguar.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: Now these guys are both key critical pieces to the Jaguars build for the next couple years at the very least.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's an incredible story, and you know, Kudos to James Gladstone, the entire organization,
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: Very, you know, in my opinion, they very decisively move, boldly move.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what James Lads don't promise.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Colvin and Lannie's 27 years old, so he's in the prime of his career, he's been playing great football.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, truly great football in my opinion, at left tackle.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: He's been a really good run blocker and a really good pass protector.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: One thing I love about him.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's an underrated athlete.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't have like great length, but he doesn't have deficient length either.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: He has like over 33 inch arms.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: He's got you know good testing numbers overall.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: I love his his fundamentals the way he plays.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: So often he's making first contact with his hands right in here.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: right where you want it if you're an offensive line coach if you're if you're offensive coach he just he's playing fundamentally sound he's not a deficient athlete or or you know physical like from him from the physical standpoint he's certainly not deficient in any way but he just didn't ever really have that starting starting opportunity he's
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and a good amount of those were at left tackle, but he has stepped up in such a big way.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and he wasn't bad at left tackle for the Jaguars before, but I think playing in this offense with this coaching staff that does such a good job understanding strengths and weaknesses of players and understanding how to best utilize their players has been a God send for him.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's been a godsend for them when they've had injuries this year.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: Again, he's played right tackle, right guard.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: left tackle, left guard this year.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: Not only position he hasn't played his center, you can probably do that if you absolutely need him to, but the Jaguar has had some good depth at center.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks to another bold move in and bringing Jonah Monheim and who had basically historically short arms, something from Balc never would have done, certainly.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: But I just, I credit this staff, front office wise, coaching wise, Cole Van Lannon himself, and certainly Jacobi Myers.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: These deals get done for the future of this football team.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: And it just goes to show you if you are yourself and your team first guy and you bust your butt and you earn it, the money will come with the Jaguars, the money and the starting job, it will come if you earn it.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like just because you're somebody who former late-round pick,
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: this regime didn't trade for you like they really didn't owe you anything but you went and earned what you got and that's really impressive for Colvin land and Jacobi Myers too obviously.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi came in to Jacksonville you know with a little bit there this is the group that actually tried to forehand and he had been starting in the NFL for a long time doing a very good job just didn't quite have that recognition.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: that some other big receivers have, but Colvin Lane and Jacobi Myers are now key pieces to this build.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: I saw someone on Twitter saying, well, this doesn't make Colvin Lane and the Jaguar starting left tackle, moving into 2026.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: We can have that debate, I think he is.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: Does that mean they're not gonna try to consistently improve the offensive line long-term and make sure they have that depth?
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't think that's the case at all, I think they will.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, continue to try to add pieces to the offensive line for 2026 and beyond, but yeah, I do think COVID and land it's going to be in the starting lineup starting next year.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: He is he's earning that and maybe if if somebody they bring in can challenge him, yeah, I don't think that they're going to shy away from challenge.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: But I think COVID and land in has the very least earned that for now and earned just like their trust, like even if he's not playing left tackle.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: They feel confident he can get it done at guard or tackle on either side.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: So amazing story for Cole VanLan and Kudos to him, Kudos to the Jack Wars front office and coaching staff and we're going to have both predictions here very soon.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know how y'all are feeling about this in the comment section below.
