- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome back to Artists on artists on Artists on artists.
- 0:07Speaker 1: This week, we're not talking to directors of Marvel movies.
- 0:11Speaker 1: In fact, we're talking to people who made a movie
- 0:15Speaker 1: quite different than that. They're indie darlings.
- 0:19Speaker 2: This movie is a buzz with acclaim and excitement because
- 0:25Speaker 2: it is an indie film. It wasn't made by a
- 0:27Speaker 2: major studio. It's made by a bunch of people who
- 0:30Speaker 2: care about movies. We sat down with them to talk
- 0:33Speaker 2: to them about what it is to make.
- 0:35Speaker 1: An indie film, how they.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Got the shot without resources, and what it's like to
- 0:41Speaker 2: be the talk of the town.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Let's listen in.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Wow, oh my god, this is wonderful that we all
- 0:52Speaker 4: get to sit down and talk about it. Gang together,
- 0:55Speaker 4: goshin all back together.
- 0:57Speaker 1: The gang is back together. I mean, this picture is
- 1:00Speaker 1: just it's kind of everything to me. It's been our
- 1:03Speaker 1: whole lives. Yeah, we did it.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I look at every morning, I see we did it.
- 1:10Speaker 1: We did it. This crazy group of kids made the
- 1:12Speaker 1: movie Feeble Mother's Feeble Children Children.
- 1:17Speaker 5: I mean, come on, Feeble Mother's Feeble Children's.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Yes, that's pretty much everything.
- 1:23Speaker 5: It's so funny doing pressed for this movie.
- 1:25Speaker 6: It's ridiculous because I peele children's funny to.
- 1:30Speaker 1: You know, our publicist wants would want us to say this,
- 1:33Speaker 1: tag yourself or you a feeble mother or a child.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Yeah, so let's just get it out of Let's get
- 1:37Speaker 3: all this stuff there.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Publicist sold us to say, tag yourself or your feeble
- 1:41Speaker 2: mother or feeble child, feeble mother, gang rise up.
- 1:45Speaker 6: Yes, if you're doing feeble mother peoble child with Utopia,
- 1:48Speaker 6: two weekend.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Cheers to you, us and your feeble Toby a picture.
- 2:01Speaker 6: We don't have to do that, ship you guys, because
- 2:03Speaker 6: this is an indie movie and we don't have to
- 2:05Speaker 6: be a part of any big r PR people. They
- 2:09Speaker 6: look at us like we're doing something like Zutopia, and
- 2:11Speaker 6: I go, no, this is We're doing this for a
- 2:13Speaker 6: small group.
- 2:14Speaker 4: I guess if you're using the Fortnite skin, feeble child.
- 2:20Speaker 5: The dance is good dance.
- 2:23Speaker 3: If your feeble child is doing the flossy And we
- 2:28Speaker 3: hate that we have.
- 2:28Speaker 4: To do we have to do. But it's crazy because
- 2:32Speaker 4: this movie was nothing, nothing, just a couple of months ago,
- 2:37Speaker 4: and all of a sudden it's caught this buzz and
- 2:40Speaker 4: it's beautiful to watch it blow up in front of
- 2:43Speaker 4: our eyes. I never thought this would happen.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Do you remember when.
- 2:45Speaker 6: We got beers during the bidding war that night, all
- 2:48Speaker 6: those all those studios are bidding over feeble bones.
- 2:55Speaker 4: We like to call it the bidding war, the feeble bones,
- 2:57Speaker 4: the feeble bones.
- 2:58Speaker 1: My god.
- 2:58Speaker 5: We didn't know what to do with this time.
- 3:00Speaker 3: It was just the bones of the the project.
- 3:04Speaker 1: It was just feeble bouts. Not enough calcium, we need more.
- 3:08Speaker 2: And and you know we say bidding war, but we were.
- 3:10Speaker 2: You know, we're talking about this.
- 3:12Speaker 7: One guy wanted to give us fifty thousand dollars and
- 3:14Speaker 7: this other guy wanted to give us fifty thousand dollars.
- 3:17Speaker 3: So that's that's the bid.
- 3:19Speaker 1: And they both baked a beautiful lasagna to try and
- 3:22Speaker 1: sway us one way or the other.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Big shout out to Derek, and sorry we went with Tim. Derek,
- 3:29Speaker 4: you'll get us next time.
- 3:31Speaker 8: Maybe make a.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Little more ball.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I was saying a little too spicy. I don't go
- 3:37Speaker 1: to a lasagna for spice.
- 3:38Speaker 2: And I'll still say we had room for both. I
- 3:40Speaker 2: think one hundred thousand would have been great. No, I
- 3:43Speaker 2: don't know why choose. That's on you, Derek so well.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Let's go around, Like, let me we tell tell the
- 3:50Speaker 4: listener and the viewer what we worked on on this project,
- 3:54Speaker 4: what our positions were. So I'll go first. I guess
- 4:00Speaker 4: my name is Jonah Taylor and yeah, I was one. Yeah,
- 4:06Speaker 4: I was one of the actors in the in the project.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I like to say though, since it's so Indie like,
- 4:12Speaker 4: as an actor, you're also part of the creative team,
- 4:15Speaker 4: you know, It's like it's interesting. Yeah. I like to
- 4:17Speaker 4: say that.
- 4:18Speaker 5: A lot, especially when you're improvising a lot of the seats.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean it was so real, it was so raw,
- 4:23Speaker 4: so like a lot of the direction was coming in
- 4:26Speaker 4: going like just just go with what you're feeling.
- 4:29Speaker 7: You were, you know, you had so many questions on set,
- 4:31Speaker 7: and we had such tight days.
- 4:34Speaker 4: And for me, it's the role I need to feel collaboration.
- 4:39Speaker 4: And for me, collaboration is I'm going to ask you
- 4:41Speaker 4: a million questions and disagree with your answers until I
- 4:44Speaker 4: shoot the scene the way I want to shoot it.
- 4:46Speaker 7: I remember you walking around just with a little bull
- 4:47Speaker 7: of checks mix, asking every department why are you doing that?
- 4:51Speaker 4: I was so curious to just go so, what is
- 4:54Speaker 4: this department over here?
- 4:55Speaker 7: And I'm saying, hey, we have the Natural History Museum
- 4:57Speaker 7: for four hours.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Is a huge favor.
- 5:00Speaker 4: And but did you know there's a character on a
- 5:03Speaker 4: set called a best boy. That's so fun. That's a
- 5:06Speaker 4: job character character to live in.
- 5:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it was wild to see you with
- 5:14Speaker 6: that bull checks mix go up to the prop department
- 5:16Speaker 6: and ask where the snacks were.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Well, I thought they knew snacks. I just thought, you know,
- 5:21Speaker 4: I'm the actor, so I'm guessing kind of everybody on
- 5:24Speaker 4: a set is lightly half of a pa for me
- 5:34Speaker 4: and half.
- 5:36Speaker 3: To get me snacks, but tell me where they are exactly.
- 5:39Speaker 7: Of course, and resources were rough, but we did have
- 5:42Speaker 7: to kind of have a second second follow you around
- 5:45Speaker 7: with a feather duster and wipes because you were getting
- 5:47Speaker 7: checks mixedpit everywhere, so we had to kind.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Of clean your path.
- 5:51Speaker 1: But it was your process, to be fair. You delivered
- 5:55Speaker 1: some really really outstanding work as the son of the
- 6:00Speaker 1: Feeble Mother, and you you really you really brought it out.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And that one day that you didn't have checks mixed
- 6:08Speaker 1: you you struggled a little bit.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Yeah, we couldn't use that footage.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Kept saying my mouth is so drop and.
- 6:15Speaker 1: You know, check is a dry snack.
- 6:17Speaker 4: I think it is. The checks makes my mouth moist.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Would it's not cereal?
- 6:27Speaker 3: I'm so confused.
- 6:29Speaker 4: It looks like cereal.
- 6:30Speaker 3: There's some cereal in there's some cereal, but it is salty.
- 6:34Speaker 5: I never thought that there is some cereal check mask.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Well check, I believe Holy falk. Yeah, well it's so
- 6:41Speaker 1: it's so crazy the context. Once you take it out
- 6:44Speaker 1: of the context, it's no longer cereal. It's a smacks.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Keep going around like, introduce yourselves.
- 6:49Speaker 7: Okay, I'm My name's Davis Chard. I was the director
- 6:54Speaker 7: of photography.
- 6:56Speaker 4: The dp DP.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Wiss char DP.
- 7:02Speaker 7: Because decided to be neutral on every exactly.
- 7:06Speaker 3: I kept saying. I was like, hey, whatever you want,
- 7:08Speaker 3: I'll do.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 7:12Speaker 7: How do you want to shoot this? I said, how
- 7:14Speaker 7: do you want to shoot this? And that was to
- 7:16Speaker 7: anybody who asked.
- 7:17Speaker 4: But you made us look so amazing. I mean, you've
- 7:20Speaker 4: got a gift for lighting, and you've got a gift
- 7:23Speaker 4: for angles.
- 7:24Speaker 7: Well, say, that's one thing about swis charge that you
- 7:26Speaker 7: get one beer in him, he tells you how he.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Would have shot it.
- 7:33Speaker 8: I love that.
- 7:33Speaker 1: One day we all sat around Crawfords and we were
- 7:37Speaker 1: eating fried chicken and beer, and we would give you
- 7:40Speaker 1: a movie and you'd say how you shot it, say
- 7:43Speaker 1: the Godfather, and you'd be like, upside down.
- 7:46Speaker 4: The fact that you want to shoot Godfather upside down?
- 7:52Speaker 6: Would you have shot twelve Agreement sideways?
- 7:59Speaker 1: Now this is DP.
- 8:00Speaker 7: I think that puts you in the head of those characters.
- 8:05Speaker 7: Cameras like we see like you know, you can't see
- 8:07Speaker 7: you right now, but basically these cameras they are right
- 8:10Speaker 7: side up, and you could go upside down, like I think.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Godfather can ask you bird Man.
- 8:16Speaker 7: Sideways, but the other sideways right sideway.
- 8:22Speaker 3: You're gonna need the other one for comparison for this
- 8:25Speaker 3: to appreciate.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Okay, what about what about Monsters Inc.
- 8:29Speaker 7: Monsters Inc. You know, I think what would have been
- 8:33Speaker 7: really interesting for Monsters Inc. Is uh shot everything from
- 8:37Speaker 7: like under the monsters make bigger, Yeah, because then the
- 8:46Speaker 7: monsters would really feel monstrous, because that's I watched Monsters Inc.
- 8:50Speaker 3: And I go, I'm not scared of these monsters.
- 8:52Speaker 1: They're at my height, they're at my high level, they're
- 8:54Speaker 1: right here. Make them make it looking down.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Then I'd be scared.
- 8:59Speaker 4: It's like it's like or tour stuff with you man,
- 9:03Speaker 4: it's like our tour ship.
- 9:04Speaker 3: But again on our movie, I couldn't I couldn't have.
- 9:06Speaker 7: I couldn't want have made a choice, couldn't be bother,
- 9:09Speaker 7: couldn't be.
- 9:11Speaker 4: One big moment when you said, this is why they
- 9:14Speaker 4: called me Swiss. Yeah, and you put a filter on
- 9:17Speaker 4: the camera that made circles that you could only see
- 9:19Speaker 4: out of circles, exactly like a Swiss cheese effect.
- 9:22Speaker 3: That's why they called me Swiss.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I loved that Swiss cheese shot. That's that sheen. That
- 9:27Speaker 1: scene shot through the POV of Swiss cheese was absolutely devastating.
- 9:31Speaker 1: It's amazing.
- 9:31Speaker 6: You watch the whole movie, it's in film, we did
- 9:34Speaker 6: on film, and then halfway through you see a shot
- 9:36Speaker 6: that looks like a Snapchat filter and you go, that's it.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I mean, it was revolutionary. You know, when she's losing
- 9:42Speaker 2: her house but you can only see her face and
- 9:45Speaker 2: a window, and you know there's other people in the shot,
- 9:48Speaker 2: but you can't see him. Get it was really interesting,
- 9:51Speaker 2: you understand.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Yeah, so subtle that metaphor.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I didn't even mean to do that. That's something we
- 9:56Speaker 3: found on the day.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Yeah, if you found it a lunch, I found it
- 10:00Speaker 1: at lunch.
- 10:01Speaker 3: I found the cheese.
- 10:02Speaker 7: Also, the filter was actually just with cheese. Well this
- 10:05Speaker 7: filter I dropped some cheese dropped it.
- 10:09Speaker 6: My god, what's going on? My name is Vet Burns.
- 10:18Speaker 6: I play the old man in the film. I've been
- 10:22Speaker 6: in this industry a long time.
- 10:25Speaker 7: I mean, you can say the character named the strong
- 10:26Speaker 7: father of a feeble mother.
- 10:28Speaker 5: Strong father of mother hunter gatherer.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Ye, strong father mother hunter gatherer.
- 10:37Speaker 5: What can I say? You work in this industry for
- 10:40Speaker 5: years and then you meet some.
- 10:43Speaker 6: Young bucks like these kids, like these fucking kids.
- 10:49Speaker 5: So at first you're like, maybe I want to retire.
- 10:51Speaker 6: This kid's throwing a piece of cheese on the camera, right,
- 10:54Speaker 6: and you go, you know what, I think, I'm fucking done.
- 10:57Speaker 5: But Daniel's the footage comes out, and I go, holy ship.
- 11:00Speaker 6: I don't know if I've actually ever made cinema until
- 11:04Speaker 6: Feeble Mother, feeble Bones.
- 11:06Speaker 7: But children, No, don't say that you were.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I mean, come on, I mean, come on, fat you
- 11:11Speaker 2: played Rodney Dangersfield son in the last movie he ever met.
- 11:15Speaker 4: That was a great You got your goddamn.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Take a laugh, then take them up, enjoy it.
- 11:25Speaker 3: And I and I remember the movie Peanuts.
- 11:29Speaker 5: You know, want me for thinking peanut piss was it cinema?
- 11:34Speaker 8: Oh no, god.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Generation it's come around. Penupiss meant something.
- 11:40Speaker 4: It's amazing sound on criteria. That's how I saw it
- 11:42Speaker 4: first time.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Well, we talked, we.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Talked about women differently during those days.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Of course, course of course you're not holding that again.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Course at that time.
- 11:59Speaker 3: And it's context.
- 12:00Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 12:01Speaker 6: Think it's hard to give peanut Piss accolades when you
- 12:08Speaker 6: see what we're.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Doing, right, we talk about the plot of the Peanut Piss.
- 12:12Speaker 7: If you want you on me, okay, you and Runny
- 12:15Speaker 7: Dangerfield become gynecologists hit.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And it was a different time.
- 12:23Speaker 6: It was a different time, different times.
- 12:27Speaker 5: And you know what, I didn't like my dialogue.
- 12:30Speaker 1: You can I have liked it at the time. It's
- 12:32Speaker 1: fine if you did.
- 12:33Speaker 5: I I look back at scenes and I go, I
- 12:35Speaker 5: don't know if I'm in there.
- 12:36Speaker 3: You're in there.
- 12:37Speaker 4: When you walk out of the college's room and going
- 12:39Speaker 4: do not go in there?
- 12:45Speaker 1: Gets a bathroom exactly.
- 12:49Speaker 7: Like it's a a woman and I going in there.
- 12:54Speaker 1: You don't want to go in there.
- 12:56Speaker 4: I got to go see a man about a dog
- 12:58Speaker 4: and it's a woman's pussy.
- 12:59Speaker 5: See, No, I can't get off, give me out.
- 13:05Speaker 8: Those lines.
- 13:05Speaker 6: I wouldn't you wouldn't do those these days, especially with
- 13:07Speaker 6: the god damn, especially with a lady director.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Direct. Please thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you,
- 13:19Speaker 1: thank you so much. I am a lady director. My
- 13:24Speaker 1: name is Brenda mcclock and I am I think it's
- 13:35Speaker 1: if she thinks it's Clock mcclough. Listen, I and I've
- 13:41Speaker 1: i've of course, well we can't get into it. My
- 13:44Speaker 1: name is Brenda mcclough. I made Feeble Mother's Feeble Children,
- 13:49Speaker 1: and I'll tell you I was inspired by the story
- 13:53Speaker 1: of a feeble mother I saw in the grocery store
- 13:56Speaker 1: one day, my own mother.
- 14:00Speaker 8: Word.
- 14:00Speaker 3: I had no idea.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I was in a Ralph's looking at the bread. I'm
- 14:06Speaker 1: nine years old, no way, and then I I still
- 14:11Speaker 1: remember it. I I I grasped to show my mother
- 14:14Speaker 1: a bag at that was perfectly plump, and I reached
- 14:18Speaker 1: and it was air. There was nothing around. She was gone.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Was this a dream?
- 14:27Speaker 3: Because I wanting to into this story.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Is this happened to me? This happened to I grabbed, grabbed,
- 14:41Speaker 1: so I grabbed for my mother and she was gone,
- 14:43Speaker 1: thin air. And then I hear on the announcement, is
- 14:48Speaker 1: there a Brenda, a young Brenda. Your mother is here.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And in that moment, I was both lost and found.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I was here and gone. I was motherless and I
- 15:00Speaker 1: was an orphan and I also had a mother at
- 15:03Speaker 1: the same time.
- 15:04Speaker 4: It feels like a dream, the reality of the situation.
- 15:07Speaker 3: What was happening.
- 15:08Speaker 4: Another way, it disappeared this.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Happened to me, And in that moment, I didn't know
- 15:14Speaker 1: it yet, but that was the genesis of feeble Mother,
- 15:18Speaker 1: feeble Children. And I knew. I knew this was going
- 15:21Speaker 1: to be formative. And I just have to say that
- 15:24Speaker 1: that everyone brought this to life so well, and I
- 15:27Speaker 1: was just so honored to have the best team in
- 15:30Speaker 1: show business. And look at what our little movie has done.
- 15:33Speaker 1: And I am just thrilled and plump is peach to
- 15:38Speaker 1: be here.
- 15:39Speaker 4: You guys made such a good creative team together.
- 15:43Speaker 3: And yeah, I mean I can introduce myself to I'm
- 15:45Speaker 3: Don mccock, her husband.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Yeah name, I didn't take name.
- 15:53Speaker 4: I added an L.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Now that was her name.
- 15:56Speaker 1: That was my name.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Sorry, I was mistake and I thought you were going.
- 15:59Speaker 1: To kind of well we met, we can tell the story.
- 16:03Speaker 1: We met at the BMB because they said license for
- 16:06Speaker 1: macawk and then we both.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Said here and I said it spelled correctly.
- 16:10Speaker 1: And I said that's wrong, and then we walked up.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:15Speaker 7: So I was the co writer on this and first
- 16:17Speaker 7: a d and had so much fun and because you
- 16:21Speaker 7: were filming this, but I I, you told me this
- 16:23Speaker 7: story on our first day, and I was so attached
- 16:26Speaker 7: to it. It was like, oh my gosh, I resonate
- 16:28Speaker 7: with that. And so we went back and forth, and
- 16:30Speaker 7: the writing was arduous, writing was the writing was certainly
- 16:35Speaker 7: having fun. Yeah, you were having a lot of fun.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I was having fun. I was pretty because you you have.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I would say, I I am morally opposed to final drafts,
- 16:44Speaker 1: and you're obsessed with this.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I love it. You love that I put my grocery
- 16:48Speaker 3: list in there.
- 16:49Speaker 1: He loves.
- 16:54Speaker 3: It's so funny.
- 16:55Speaker 2: But you know what's fun is, you know, you coming
- 16:58Speaker 2: in having so many wonderful ideas and saying, hey, these
- 17:01Speaker 2: can all be one font, you know, and and you saying, no, no,
- 17:04Speaker 2: let this.
- 17:06Speaker 3: This needs to be chiller. You know, this is a
- 17:07Speaker 3: scary moment. This needs to be chiller.
- 17:09Speaker 4: I love the part of the script where half the
- 17:11Speaker 4: dialogue is photos of screenshots of a notes app.
- 17:14Speaker 5: Yeah, it was crazy, or the hyperlink to a Pinterest board.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:21Speaker 7: It was really really fun and interesting and I was
- 17:24Speaker 7: just there to help. And then you know, when it
- 17:26Speaker 7: came to who's going to direct this, who's gonna be
- 17:27Speaker 7: in charge.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Of it, It's gonna be you. It's gonna be all course.
- 17:30Speaker 1: But I'll keep us on.
- 17:30Speaker 7: Time and I'll know what we're doing every day. And
- 17:33Speaker 7: it was really fun. It was a fun relationship.
- 17:36Speaker 1: It was really fun, and it's really fun to have
- 17:38Speaker 1: your husband be a first d D. It is fun, right,
- 17:40Speaker 1: It's really fun.
- 17:41Speaker 3: You had fun with that.
- 17:42Speaker 1: I had a lot of fun because I just felt
- 17:44Speaker 1: like this said was running itself and I was just
- 17:47Speaker 1: shown up and I.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Didn't feel like that because I was. I had a
- 17:50Speaker 3: lot of that's interesting.
- 17:53Speaker 4: A man of many hats, Yeah, man of many hats
- 17:56Speaker 4: to multi hyphens here writers, ad late slash.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Director lay direct. We're always saying that you're first.
- 18:07Speaker 7: Looking at this it's a boys club, right, but there
- 18:09Speaker 7: was You have to understand there's so many women we
- 18:11Speaker 7: did invite to be yes, I mean we.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Should talk about the elephants in the room. Our star
- 18:18Speaker 1: feeble mother is not present. She's not present.
- 18:21Speaker 4: She's actually filming off the hype of feeble mother. She
- 18:25Speaker 4: just booked the new d C Batman.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Ruthie Ruthie Garbo. We're so happy for her and her journey.
- 18:36Speaker 1: And why don't you come to the holiday party? You
- 18:39Speaker 1: know we needed we need your r s v P.
- 18:44Speaker 2: There getting there's a lot of buzz for I mean,
- 18:45Speaker 2: we should say what feeble mothers people children's about.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Yeah, let's talk about the well you do it.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Here's the thing. How about I describe it? Yeah, the
- 19:00Speaker 1: pank you.
- 19:00Speaker 4: I don't want to say what you so like for me?
- 19:03Speaker 4: What it is about. It's about a son dealing with
- 19:05Speaker 4: the generational traubma of his mother who didn't come from
- 19:09Speaker 4: a good home, but she's trying her best, and it's
- 19:12Speaker 4: how the sun takes on that world. So as much
- 19:16Speaker 4: as a movie about feeble mother, it's also about a
- 19:18Speaker 4: feeble son.
- 19:19Speaker 1: And I would say, just in terms of scream time,
- 19:21Speaker 1: it's proportionally more about a feeble mother who has a son.
- 19:25Speaker 4: And that's so true. But the screen time is not everything, right,
- 19:29Speaker 4: So I do have two minutes in the movie, a
- 19:32Speaker 4: two minute monologue when when I arrive at home and
- 19:35Speaker 4: I go, God, even thinking about it, I just want
- 19:37Speaker 4: to do it. Mom, what's going on? What's going on
- 19:43Speaker 4: with your life? Clean up yourself. You've got to clean
- 19:47Speaker 4: up yourself. We're done with this. I am grown, mom.
- 19:54Speaker 4: We're done with this.
- 19:55Speaker 1: He did this at lunch too, done with this.
- 19:57Speaker 4: And then you let me improvise, and I said, we're
- 19:58Speaker 4: done with this girl, but you did and I improvised
- 20:01Speaker 4: that line. So that's my claim of it.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Done with this girl.
- 20:03Speaker 4: We're done with this girl.
- 20:04Speaker 3: We're done with this girl.
- 20:06Speaker 7: Actually, yeah right, yeah, and then that was great because
- 20:08Speaker 7: after we shut that, you had two weeks off.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I had two weeks off Barbados.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Yeah you really, you were you were kind of out
- 20:14Speaker 3: in the town.
- 20:15Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Then we were in the rehab scene.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, Oh Barbados was a blast. I wish you
- 20:21Speaker 4: guys could come. How was the rehab shoot?
- 20:24Speaker 1: Oh? Cold, arduous, Yeah.
- 20:28Speaker 7: The rehab center with a bunch of real people going
- 20:31Speaker 7: through rehabilitation.
- 20:33Speaker 4: Well, this is great. We actually have a clip of
- 20:35Speaker 4: that rehab center week. Yeah, that's awesome.
- 20:39Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 20:40Speaker 4: That's awesome. Okay, I'll play it right now so we
- 20:42Speaker 4: can see what happens. Mom.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I'm I'm doing good here. I'm really finding myself. I
- 20:48Speaker 1: have a routine. I think this is going to be
- 20:51Speaker 1: good for me. You don't need to worry I'm doing good.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Someone's biting in here. We need someone someone's biting. We
- 20:59Speaker 3: need somebody's no one's second.
- 21:02Speaker 1: And as I was saying, i you don't need to
- 21:05Speaker 1: worry about me.
- 21:08Speaker 3: I'm.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I'm going to become the woman I'm supposed to be.
- 21:20Speaker 1: And you know I've I started learning guitar while I'm
- 21:23Speaker 1: in here. They have music. All right, all right, okay,
- 21:31Speaker 1: and I'm great.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Now why do we do that in one shot? Do
- 21:36Speaker 5: you have a reason for it?
- 21:37Speaker 3: I just you know, we needed to get out of there.
- 21:39Speaker 7: They were upset that we were in the building.
- 21:42Speaker 4: A lot of people biting and yelling in the rehab.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Well, you you worked on.
- 21:46Speaker 2: That movie where you illegally shot in Disneyland, and you said,
- 21:48Speaker 2: let's just do that in this rehab.
- 21:50Speaker 3: Let's just do what I did.
- 21:51Speaker 7: Let's just do I illegally shot in disney Let's just
- 21:53Speaker 7: do that in this rehab.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I said. I said.
- 21:55Speaker 7: It needed to feel real, and it needed to be
- 21:57Speaker 7: and it needed to be fast, and I think in
- 22:01Speaker 7: the future, I just want steal shots from a rehab center.
- 22:03Speaker 7: I think there was so much going on hospital's, rehab centers,
- 22:05Speaker 7: government prisons, stuff like that.
- 22:08Speaker 3: I'm not going to steal shots from.
- 22:09Speaker 8: Well.
- 22:09Speaker 4: How we had to get into the rehab center was
- 22:11Speaker 4: a lot. I mean, you guys had to fake, fake,
- 22:13Speaker 4: a fake, a drug problem in order to get back
- 22:16Speaker 4: into that.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it was weeks of I mean we had rehearsals
- 22:20Speaker 1: for the faking of the drug problem in addition to
- 22:22Speaker 1: the movie that we were shooting. And so it was
- 22:26Speaker 1: you know, it was a lot, but you go the
- 22:27Speaker 1: extra mile. You know, our background is in theater, and so.
- 22:30Speaker 2: You did a great job kind of transforming your drug addiction.
- 22:34Speaker 2: At first was so broad the.
- 22:38Speaker 1: First round because I went, let's just put it on.
- 22:41Speaker 3: I think we have some rehearsal footage from that.
- 22:43Speaker 5: You have rehearsal footage of what we.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, sure, let's let's play it.
- 22:50Speaker 8: We'll put and.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Okay, I got a problem, man, let me in here.
- 23:01Speaker 1: My two units. I mean, my friends, I remember this
- 23:08Speaker 1: day that I appreciate you rolling on that it was broad.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Yet I almost believe it so broad.
- 23:18Speaker 7: It's so different, different, broad, generally specific, specific specific.
- 23:27Speaker 1: At the same time.
- 23:28Speaker 5: Well, I mean we didn't have much time. We were
- 23:29Speaker 5: rehearsing the movie, Okay, I.
- 23:31Speaker 6: Mean, and that goes how how uh arduous the rehearsal
- 23:35Speaker 6: process was too, like just like sitting in the scripts
- 23:39Speaker 6: and really just of course repetition. I mean, come on,
- 23:42Speaker 6: I haven't worked with a lot of girl directors that
- 23:44Speaker 6: do repetition and descript analysis.
- 23:47Speaker 7: Could say directer to I mean, we're everything you can
- 23:51Speaker 7: speak to that, but we don't have to know.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I like it. I like it. I think it's nice.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I think you, I think and I always want to
- 24:00Speaker 1: know from an older man what what things lady directors
- 24:05Speaker 1: have done versus what the lady directors do usually do
- 24:09Speaker 1: because I want to know where I'm at in terms
- 24:10Speaker 1: of the pack you know what I mean, am I?
- 24:13Speaker 1: And and what's what's the girl industry doing? What is
- 24:17Speaker 1: the girl director industry standard in terms of these things?
- 24:20Speaker 5: And old guy, maybe I should I.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Not be gone girl.
- 24:24Speaker 3: I'm telling I mean, I've been telling you. She's giving
- 24:26Speaker 3: you the green line.
- 24:26Speaker 1: I think you didn't give me. I like men and
- 24:30Speaker 1: women are different.
- 24:31Speaker 2: I keep trying to get you to go to these
- 24:33Speaker 2: girls director lunches and you don't want.
- 24:36Speaker 1: No, they're always sweet. Great.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Now, well, you're always posting online too, kind of like
- 24:43Speaker 4: I roll emoji that ever director movie.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I know, I'm posting pictures of Lena Dunham and Greta
- 24:49Speaker 1: Gerway get lunch together going. But it looks believe they
- 24:55Speaker 1: got that?
- 24:57Speaker 8: Be the do these do?
- 25:00Speaker 3: He keeps It looks like.
- 25:02Speaker 8: Believe it.
- 25:03Speaker 1: You got that baricycle in front of the DGA. It
- 25:05Speaker 1: picks you up and drives you down to the sweet.
- 25:09Speaker 8: Sounds like.
- 25:12Speaker 3: From Nashville.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I know I would die to go to one of those. Really,
- 25:18Speaker 1: I know, the baricycle that stops at the d GA,
- 25:21Speaker 1: picks up all the women get everybody get it. Okay,
- 25:27Speaker 1: I'm jealousy jealous. It looks fun. I have to get
- 25:30Speaker 1: off my high horse. But come on, come on.
- 25:34Speaker 2: But you did such a great job with so few resources.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Let's talk about people don't talk about indie films. The
- 25:39Speaker 2: resources you have and what you put into something. And
- 25:42Speaker 2: we like to be transparent. I mean, let's talk about
- 25:44Speaker 2: the budget. We made this for one hundred and forty
- 25:47Speaker 2: thousand dollars.
- 25:48Speaker 4: It is nothing. It's pennies, which is not only understand
- 25:53Speaker 4: that's pennies, that's literal pennies.
- 25:55Speaker 1: You can make half a short film with that money,
- 25:57Speaker 1: and I really want to. I have to give it
- 26:00Speaker 1: up to our crew, I mean especially you and like
- 26:03Speaker 1: all of our all of our wonderful, wonderful people, because
- 26:07Speaker 1: a lot of times you were accepting payment in David
- 26:10Speaker 1: Buster's bucks. Yeah, because there were months where you know,
- 26:13Speaker 1: we had promises, we had io You's, we had payments
- 26:16Speaker 1: that hadn't gone through yet, and so we had to
- 26:18Speaker 1: make do with what we had. And so I just
- 26:20Speaker 1: really appreciate all of you taking being troopers about that.
- 26:24Speaker 5: And I told my reps at CIA, I went, it's crypto.
- 26:27Speaker 7: You just told them it's crypto, and they were fine
- 26:29Speaker 7: with okay.
- 26:33Speaker 8: Drilling someone's drilling out.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:37Speaker 2: So so I work at David Busters and I was
- 26:40Speaker 2: doing day working all day on the film, and then
- 26:43Speaker 2: at night I would play games over and over to
- 26:46Speaker 2: earn enough points to get you.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Guys, your point.
- 26:48Speaker 1: And you wanted to earn it the right way, you
- 26:50Speaker 1: didn't you. This guy is so noble he doesn't use
- 26:54Speaker 1: his employee discount. Well, he wants to earn prizes because yeah,
- 26:59Speaker 1: so you are turn prizes, you redeem them for the
- 27:01Speaker 1: little like squishy toys, and then you sell those for money.
- 27:05Speaker 2: So that's what I was doing every night from ten
- 27:07Speaker 2: pm to ten am. I was just playing the hoops.
- 27:10Speaker 2: I was doing the wack them all thing. I was
- 27:12Speaker 2: doing Dan Dance, Dance Revolution, Dan Dan Revolution is another one.
- 27:16Speaker 8: I love.
- 27:20Speaker 3: You just play it as a guy named Dan. Yeah, yeah,
- 27:22Speaker 3: making noodles.
- 27:23Speaker 4: It's hungry l Can we talk about everybody's favorite scene
- 27:29Speaker 4: from the movie, Oh, my goodness, Yeah.
- 27:32Speaker 3: You know.
- 27:32Speaker 7: For me, I think it was probably, uh, the ocean
- 27:37Speaker 7: shoot when we were out on that barge cold. It's
- 27:42Speaker 7: so amazing, thank you, thank you, because we were on
- 27:44Speaker 7: that Marger's moving and I.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Want to commend you for being willing to go underwater
- 27:49Speaker 1: with the camera.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I was happy to.
- 27:51Speaker 5: We'll talk about the rig. I mean that that whole thing,
- 27:54Speaker 5: My god.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Yeah, the rig.
- 27:55Speaker 7: It was we had a shoulder mount and uh, I
- 27:59Speaker 7: think we we we we we. We were shooting on
- 28:01Speaker 7: a an Alexa and I just hopped right in that
- 28:06Speaker 7: water with that camera and it broke easy. Really a
- 28:11Speaker 7: rag kept and then we would put another camera on
- 28:14Speaker 7: and I'd hop back in because we would give we
- 28:17Speaker 7: would get about one second of footage each time.
- 28:20Speaker 1: I'll take the fall for this because I was like,
- 28:22Speaker 1: I think it could work this time, and you're like,
- 28:25Speaker 1: it's not my movie, So you hopped in.
- 28:27Speaker 3: I'm doing I Live to Surf.
- 28:29Speaker 7: I played so much Buck Hunter to we use about
- 28:33Speaker 7: so crazy ninety of our one hundred and forty on
- 28:36Speaker 7: I'm just going mowing through cameras on that bar.
- 28:39Speaker 4: The footage was crazy because it because it came out
- 28:41Speaker 4: all pixelated and destroy Yeah, amazing.
- 28:45Speaker 2: If we shot on I was just hoping we shoot
- 28:47Speaker 2: on film because at least it looks weird. But when
- 28:49Speaker 2: you don't shoot on film, that's kind of what we're missing.
- 28:52Speaker 4: We shot the movie on beside this point. You shoot
- 28:54Speaker 4: on digital, it breaks fast.
- 28:56Speaker 7: Yeah, that's kind of what I Sometimes it's salvagible film
- 28:59Speaker 7: is the machines turns off.
- 29:01Speaker 1: You know it immediately.
- 29:02Speaker 6: It happens with you kids, when you're tired, you turn off.
- 29:05Speaker 6: Back in the day, we kept going.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Did you guys shoot popcorn piss on film? Had to?
- 29:11Speaker 3: You had to.
- 29:12Speaker 6: Popcorn piss was on film, Buck Hunter, butthole was on film.
- 29:20Speaker 4: And you just didn't think of that because he.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Just said, are you.
- 29:24Speaker 5: Oh, that's where we come from. That's where they came from.
- 29:29Speaker 5: Number three, that's where they Okay, I don't know, you
- 29:33Speaker 5: get old and you forget what movies you worked on.
- 29:35Speaker 1: No, of course, of course, but I I mean I
- 29:39Speaker 1: have to say in terms of we were talking about
- 29:40Speaker 1: our favorite our favorite scenes. I really loved. I'm sorry
- 29:49Speaker 1: you're thinking about stop it. I loved going into the
- 29:55Speaker 1: Libre of bread factory and shooting all that stuff a
- 30:00Speaker 1: gorilla style with real workers and permit to be.
- 30:08Speaker 6: I mean, we can't go and get trying to get
- 30:10Speaker 6: a permit with David Buster's bucks.
- 30:13Speaker 4: It's tough.
- 30:14Speaker 1: They don't take it, but you know it's it's uh.
- 30:17Speaker 1: We had our feeble mother, you know, finally wrapping up
- 30:21Speaker 1: everything and making peace with her son in the in
- 30:25Speaker 1: the Librea bread factory and saying, this is what we
- 30:28Speaker 1: missed out on, this is what we were supposed to have.
- 30:31Speaker 4: We stole shots that whole day, that whole day. Let's
- 30:34Speaker 4: play it. Let's play that clip. I would love to
- 30:36Speaker 4: see the Libre bread factory. Okay, here we go, play
- 30:41Speaker 4: what gives mom? What gives?
- 30:45Speaker 7: Look?
- 30:46Speaker 1: I want to be the mother I couldn't be before
- 30:54Speaker 1: I find our relationship. Well, I wanted to be something
- 31:00Speaker 1: I wanted to be. Oh, I wanted to say, Louisa,
- 31:10Speaker 1: break bread with me, Son.
- 31:12Speaker 5: I'm looking for a cafe ol A. I'm Miranda.
- 31:16Speaker 1: By break bread with me Son?

- 32:12Speaker 1: She was hard to track down. She did say enough
- 32:17Speaker 1: lines to qualify for Best Actress Supporting he did.
- 32:20Speaker 2: It was crazy to find her and tell her that
- 32:22Speaker 2: not only is she in a movie, but she's.
- 32:27Speaker 3: She was shocked.
- 32:28Speaker 4: Well, who thought it wasn't called Louisa was up? She
- 32:33Speaker 4: said for a spirit war.
- 32:36Speaker 6: It's so it's like she's not given anything such a
- 32:39Speaker 6: different type of.
- 32:40Speaker 7: Her name was Danielle, So I don't even understand why
- 32:43Speaker 7: she thought he was calling her. But that was so interesting,
- 32:47Speaker 7: and we know you thought that was interesting because you

- 34:55Speaker 7: If that's what we added, we added it, but not
- 34:58Speaker 7: in post.
- 34:59Speaker 3: I held up a little piece and we didn't throw
- 35:04Speaker 3: your popcorn. You guys at the time, I remember you
- 35:06Speaker 3: guys were like, what are you doing?
- 35:07Speaker 8: What is that?
- 35:07Speaker 3: Is that?
- 35:08Speaker 7: But I knew and I remembering because you told me
- 35:10Speaker 7: you didn't know how to focus pull, and that was
- 35:12Speaker 7: such a clear focus, right, Yeah, well I was just
- 35:15Speaker 7: I was on auto the whole The whole movies are
- 35:17Speaker 7: on auto focus the whole time. When you watch the movie,
- 35:20Speaker 7: it's going it's like as people walk, if somebody walks
- 35:23Speaker 7: in the foreground, and that simply was I didn't know.
- 35:27Speaker 3: I didn't know.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Also, the White Ballads was adust.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Everything is coming in and out of That's why you.
- 35:35Speaker 6: Have people like the libreo bread Lady and predominantly featured
- 35:39Speaker 6: in the film but not in the script because you're
- 35:41Speaker 6: on auto focus.
- 35:43Speaker 4: White balance too, somebody was walking with a white apron everything.
- 35:45Speaker 7: Everything and people. At the time, I remember Martin Scorsese
- 35:50Speaker 7: tweeting at me saying he loved that choice.
- 35:52Speaker 1: It was like choice, Oh yeah, because a lot of
- 35:55Speaker 1: we can.
- 35:56Speaker 7: Choose the camera, the camera choosers. I pushed record your
- 36:01Speaker 7: pish recording that I'm on my phone kind of the
- 36:03Speaker 7: only opinion of a DP I've ever heard.
- 36:05Speaker 1: It's like that.
- 36:06Speaker 6: I loved the days you brought your air pods because
- 36:08Speaker 6: your videos weren't too loud.
- 36:10Speaker 1: You did so kind of just loud, and you are
- 36:14Speaker 1: crazy fy p, I must it's crazy crazy.
- 36:18Speaker 7: There are these guys who are just building a whole
- 36:20Speaker 7: town in the forest and they go and they make
- 36:23Speaker 7: these video where they're kind of moving really fast as
- 36:25Speaker 7: they build, as they build this little town. You know,
- 36:28Speaker 7: you know you caught that on the camera. And they're
- 36:30Speaker 7: also nominated for a Yes, I held my phone out
- 36:33Speaker 7: in the front camera and I said, go follow forest
- 36:37Speaker 7: boys Forest.
- 36:38Speaker 2: I mean that was but really, I mean the award claim.
- 36:40Speaker 2: It's been so cool to see you. You're getting your flowers.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Finally, I feel like I'm at the florist. Okay, this
- 36:50Speaker 1: is like.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Wow, Wow, it's.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Like an embarrassed and.
- 36:58Speaker 6: You had a flower crown and I'm get on the
- 37:01Speaker 6: bicycles cards.
- 37:10Speaker 1: It is overwhelmed, giant. I don't know how to get
- 37:14Speaker 1: it relax because I want to come back.
- 37:16Speaker 8: I know, I have to say.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I have to say.
- 37:18Speaker 7: I know.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I just wish I could bottle this feeling. Bottle this
- 37:22Speaker 1: feeling because I know it's not gonna be forever. But
- 37:25Speaker 1: I gotta say like things are happening, things are moving fast.
- 37:30Speaker 1: I am being called upon to I guess I'll announce
- 37:33Speaker 1: it here direct the City Bank movie, My City. It's
- 37:42Speaker 1: the origin story of every hostpaper.
- 37:46Speaker 8: So you didn't know, I don't, I swear to you.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry you.
- 37:58Speaker 8: What's my mind? You look trapped.
- 38:04Speaker 1: I'm so excited to start the writing process.
- 38:06Speaker 8: I have a.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Notepad hidden in a drawer that I can't wait for
- 38:11Speaker 1: you to find in our house.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Okay, that's Am I going to be involved in writing?
- 38:15Speaker 1: Well, of course you're gonna do all you're gonna This
- 38:20Speaker 1: guy loves to put it in final draft, so you're
- 38:21Speaker 1: gonna be putting it in final graphs.
- 38:23Speaker 8: He looks like.
- 38:25Speaker 1: In guitar taps guitar, the ones correspond to all the
- 38:40Speaker 1: vowels in the alphabet genius. The two's are the elemental piece,
- 38:46Speaker 1: that whole section, you know, and in four and five
- 38:49Speaker 1: they're the rest.
- 38:50Speaker 7: It's it's it's literally like working with you know, someone
- 38:54Speaker 7: who like a ham radio, you know, like a Morse code.
- 38:58Speaker 3: It's funny, it's.
- 38:59Speaker 1: But it's I can't we just work.
- 39:01Speaker 4: We just work together. So delightful and.
- 39:04Speaker 3: I can't wait to see what city banks about.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Once I did code it, it's like, as awesome, this
- 39:11Speaker 2: is awesome.
- 39:13Speaker 1: It's going to be amazing. Honey, are you un happy?
- 39:18Speaker 4: I'm so happy happy.
- 39:20Speaker 1: I just you know, it sounds like you need an
- 39:22Speaker 1: hour in the flotation tank.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Well I'll take it. I mean, I'll never say, like
- 39:28Speaker 3: eleven in Stranger.
- 39:29Speaker 5: Things, I think she wants attention, he wants at stranger.
- 39:33Speaker 1: What are you working on? What are you working on?
- 39:38Speaker 4: Love strangers? So I'm working on.
- 39:44Speaker 5: Sometimes you have to feed the beast, give.
- 39:47Speaker 3: The conversation.
- 39:48Speaker 4: You have a cookie.
- 39:49Speaker 7: Remember, we would be in the middle of we'd be
- 39:54Speaker 7: in the middle of shooting and I would just hear
- 39:56Speaker 7: in the back.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Of me me, me, me, now, me now, me now,
- 40:00Speaker 1: how do you feel?
- 40:02Speaker 2: Honestly, one of the rare occasions you wouldn't pandasit, I
- 40:04Speaker 2: wouldn't respect that.
- 40:05Speaker 3: I would say so yes.
- 40:07Speaker 4: Unfortunately, I was the only one of us not nominated
- 40:09Speaker 4: for anything. People have been talking up and reading the
- 40:13Speaker 4: letter box and we're keep on getting four and a
- 40:14Speaker 4: half stars with one note they hated Jonah. So I
- 40:19Speaker 4: am working on a rap album. Actually, naturally, big move.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Okay, And what's also I just want to say, I
- 40:26Speaker 2: mean you were nominated for a Southeast San Gabriel Valley
- 40:29Speaker 2: Rising Star Award.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not that's not nothing. You got the Valley
- 40:35Speaker 1: Sun Most Important Person of the Week Award.
- 40:39Speaker 4: It was so excited. Well, I'm from the valley, so
- 40:42Speaker 4: that's awesome.
- 40:43Speaker 5: That means it's an even bigger Noma.
- 40:46Speaker 2: You got magazine's number one cheese eater, so that was
- 40:52Speaker 2: a special thing I was doing on this side.
- 40:54Speaker 4: You just saw my Instagram how much I love.
- 40:56Speaker 5: Cheese, and you got that award with BuzzFeed. One of
- 40:59Speaker 5: the guys this year that we went we didn't need him, Yes,
- 41:02Speaker 5: one of the guys this year.
- 41:03Speaker 4: We didn't need.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Top ten guys.
- 41:05Speaker 4: One number one on.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Guys we didn't need.
- 41:10Speaker 4: Love.
- 41:10Speaker 7: When they got all the guys we didn't need together
- 41:12Speaker 7: in Canadian Treats, they released two articles they do guys
- 41:15Speaker 7: we didn't know we needed.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and guys we just guys we didn't need,
- 41:21Speaker 1: We did not need.
- 41:22Speaker 3: I did not know I needed these guys, and I
- 41:25Speaker 3: know I don't need to and you were on that.
- 41:28Speaker 3: But it's just fun to be in an articles.
- 41:30Speaker 4: Fun, it's fun to get the Google alert.
- 41:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it's fun to Google search your name and something
- 41:36Speaker 3: pops up.
- 41:36Speaker 4: Yes, it's a positive.
- 41:38Speaker 1: That's amazing. But I'm so excited for your rap album.
- 41:41Speaker 1: I mean you you wrapped so quietly and so frequently
- 41:44Speaker 1: in your trailer.
- 41:45Speaker 4: Try to wrap just lightly enough so people can hear
- 41:47Speaker 4: me going, and.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Just loud enough for us to go.
- 41:51Speaker 8: Was that wrap?
- 41:51Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 41:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's exactly what.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Who are your biggest rap inspirations?
- 41:56Speaker 4: Oh? Easily modest Yahoo's I.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Was gonna I could have guessed that.
- 42:01Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, based on who is a huge one and
- 42:05Speaker 7: what is sort of the album about? What are you
- 42:07Speaker 7: addressing anything in particular?
- 42:09Speaker 3: Are you wow? Thank you?
- 42:12Speaker 4: I'm taking on the idea of war. It doesn't just
- 42:17Speaker 4: affect the soldiers. I don't know if people know this.
- 42:22Speaker 4: The war affects a lot more than just the people fight.
- 42:23Speaker 3: I think the war.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Yeah, so war is kind of one of the biggest
- 42:27Speaker 2: things kind of that everyone knows effects kind of.
- 42:30Speaker 4: I don't know. So I just really take on more
- 42:32Speaker 4: with my wraps and it's like we might fly, we
- 42:39Speaker 4: might soar, but not in a war. Not in a war.
- 42:43Speaker 4: Because you think boom boom is the one affected. But
- 42:46Speaker 4: guess what, all of our brains are infected when a
- 42:50Speaker 4: bomb is dropped.
- 42:54Speaker 5: Bomb is said this.
- 42:56Speaker 4: I think he's got a crush on him.
- 42:58Speaker 5: They want obsessed with him in touching.
- 43:01Speaker 1: When a bomb flies high.
- 43:03Speaker 4: You look to the sky and you think boom boom,
- 43:06Speaker 4: goes the soldier man. But he doesn't have a plan
- 43:09Speaker 4: because when he gets back, he's not only affecting the
- 43:13Speaker 4: war plan, He's affecting other man, from man to man
- 43:18Speaker 4: to man to man war w A are you ready?
- 43:24Speaker 1: I think you've actually invented a new artcor because I've
- 43:28Speaker 1: never seen someone wrap to one person.
- 43:33Speaker 4: My album is kind of like I brought you into
- 43:35Speaker 4: the studio a lot to hurt me out.
- 43:38Speaker 3: I was there, but again, I was on my phone
- 43:43Speaker 3: one time the video, but it's not stopping him.
- 43:51Speaker 4: It's it's it's beautiful. So that's just one of the
- 43:54Speaker 4: many songs I have on my AUM.
- 43:56Speaker 5: Congratulations, amazing, Thank you guys, thank you.
- 44:00Speaker 4: And just bring up one of my favorite film scenes
- 44:02Speaker 4: in the movie. I loved when the mother switches brains
- 44:05Speaker 4: with the daughter and they have that whole montage of
- 44:08Speaker 4: understanding each other a little bit.
- 44:10Speaker 1: I was really inspired by old movies like Freaky Friday,
- 44:17Speaker 1: sort of like class classic, the classics.
- 44:20Speaker 6: You know, I want to pay homage to We did
- 44:22Speaker 6: this guerrilla style at six Flags, right, yeah, we stole
- 44:26Speaker 6: or is that just my day?
- 44:28Speaker 1: No? No, no, no, we did do this gorilla style.
- 44:30Speaker 3: I was actually crazy.
- 44:31Speaker 4: We were shooting.
- 44:32Speaker 3: You were under day.
- 44:35Speaker 1: We ended up having to pay you for the day
- 44:40Speaker 1: because you were shots.
- 44:43Speaker 5: Single rider.
- 44:46Speaker 4: Work coming home with me you were on Yeah.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:53Speaker 4: Just seeing an old dad next two by himself. Nothing sad.
- 44:59Speaker 5: It makes me feel alive.
- 45:01Speaker 3: That was crazy drugs.
- 45:02Speaker 5: That's what I tell my mother.
- 45:03Speaker 7: You know.
- 45:04Speaker 3: Fun fact about that scene.
- 45:05Speaker 7: By the way, she literally used scissors and cut out
- 45:09Speaker 7: that scene from Freaky Friday from the script in the
- 45:14Speaker 7: l a library and just taped it into the script.
- 45:17Speaker 5: Yes, amazing, you're kidding. I would have never known that
- 45:20Speaker 5: was cut and taped on the page.
- 45:23Speaker 8: Well, you know how.
- 45:26Speaker 3: I would.
- 45:30Speaker 7: But now it is weird because it is such a
- 45:32Speaker 7: it's a movie about generational trauma, and then suddenly there
- 45:35Speaker 7: is this scene where they go.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Yeah yeah.
- 45:43Speaker 6: When I read stage directions like Jamie Lee Curtis false,
- 45:50Speaker 6: I just thought that was chicken scratch.
- 45:52Speaker 4: Well, it's so fun that in the original Freaky Friday movie.
- 45:54Speaker 4: They got the actor.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Attached.
- 45:59Speaker 4: That's what you're doing.
- 45:59Speaker 1: It's crazy what you find when you go to the
- 46:06Speaker 1: w g A Library. They just have straight up people's
- 46:08Speaker 1: names in there. No, it uh, it was a It
- 46:11Speaker 1: was a mixing of genre that I felt we needed.
- 46:14Speaker 1: We needed to pivot to hard comedy for a moment
- 46:18Speaker 1: so that you know how much they're actually hurting. If
- 46:20Speaker 1: you feel uncomfortable watching this, it's because you have generational
- 46:23Speaker 1: trauma as well. And that's what we say directly to
- 46:25Speaker 1: the camera at the end of.
- 46:26Speaker 3: The scene becomes an ad and it goes, do you
- 46:29Speaker 3: have generation?
- 46:31Speaker 4: Do you well?
- 46:33Speaker 1: Do you?
- 46:33Speaker 3: We stole a personal injury attorney's office for.
- 46:36Speaker 5: That nothing better than stealing an office.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Any advice for any filmmakers, Just get the permits.
- 46:46Speaker 8: Can we play the.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Clip from the personal injury attorney scene? That's that's one
- 46:50Speaker 1: of my favorite shots in all of films.
- 46:55Speaker 5: Hey you there, do you have generational drama?
- 46:58Speaker 4: Mom? I don't know why you're bringing this accident to
- 47:02Speaker 4: an attorney?
- 47:03Speaker 5: Do you need to get Did this movie touch you
- 47:06Speaker 5: in a certain way?
- 47:07Speaker 1: He can help us. I don't know where else to turn.
- 47:11Speaker 5: In here listen to my favorite personal injury attorney, Bob Son.
- 47:17Speaker 1: I've been hurt, We've been hurt. We've been hurt as
- 47:25Speaker 1: a family.
- 47:28Speaker 4: I know we've been hurt. About time to move on. Mom,
- 47:32Speaker 4: just buried and move on. No, just like I did.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Your father would still be here if it weren't for
- 47:38Speaker 1: that motorcycle.
- 47:39Speaker 7: How that's that the hospital he was personally call the hospital,
- 47:45Speaker 7: carl the hospital arts and call us back later.
- 47:47Speaker 8: Are you thinking of he was.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Chicken rap?
- 47:54Speaker 5: What my Santa by chicken ram?
- 47:57Speaker 7: I don't like that right now? Wow?
- 48:03Speaker 4: Wow, crazy to steal it on the day that they
- 48:09Speaker 4: were shooting that.
- 48:09Speaker 7: Commercial next to the woman, Well she got another oscar
- 48:13Speaker 7: now she got to She got nominated twice for the
- 48:16Speaker 7: same woman, which is crazy because it's I mean, it's uncanny.
- 48:21Speaker 7: It's crazy woman who was.
- 48:28Speaker 4: In the person deligiury attorney's office.
- 48:30Speaker 1: I love that we get to see the inner workings
- 48:33Speaker 1: of relationships between co workers.
- 48:36Speaker 4: But this is the thing about this movie. I mean,
- 48:37Speaker 4: it was so avant garde. Parts the ride ups have
- 48:41Speaker 4: been delicious Indie wire Rope, Delicious Collider Collider Vulture Collider gushed.
- 48:51Speaker 3: The article gushed, but honestly, I sent them. I sent
- 48:55Speaker 3: them a towel in the mail.
- 48:58Speaker 5: We did that with peanuts.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Good job, because you were gushing.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Thanks for the gush.
- 49:08Speaker 5: Here's a towel for your seat. Thanks for the gush.
- 49:11Speaker 4: Like all these articles are writing like what they think
- 49:14Speaker 4: the film means, and I was just going to actually ask,
- 49:17Speaker 4: like personally, like do you guys think any of them
- 49:19Speaker 4: are right? Do you guys think any of them are wrong?
- 49:22Speaker 1: This film is kind of.
- 49:24Speaker 4: Go ahead.
- 49:26Speaker 3: No, you don't have to give it away. This is
- 49:27Speaker 3: your film, you wrote it.
- 49:28Speaker 8: No, this is part of.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Being a lady director is stopping talking sometimes. I will, however,
- 49:42Speaker 1: say this movie was about for me, it was about
- 49:48Speaker 1: you doesn't know.
- 49:50Speaker 4: Economy, the economy, economy?
- 49:53Speaker 1: Okay, okay, it was about.
- 49:59Speaker 3: You never said that an interview before. You've said it many.
- 50:03Speaker 8: Have I not said that?
- 50:04Speaker 1: How about it wasn't a big part of the writing process.
- 50:06Speaker 3: We're talking about the woman. Remember what.
- 50:13Speaker 5: This is about the econ because she wrote it in
- 50:15Speaker 5: a calculat.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Well, okay, I guess, I guess I could have sworn
- 50:23Speaker 1: I told you that whole story it was about grocery
- 50:26Speaker 1: store inflation. Don't change the Are you sure this is
- 50:30Speaker 1: what I've been saying in interviews these grocery stores. One
- 50:34Speaker 1: thing I'd like to buy instead of paper or plastic
