- 0:00Speaker 1: We're making sound fridge stew today. It's one more thing.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Our executive producer Hanson had a good idea. We only
- 0:11Speaker 2: have a couple of clips, so we're wondering what to
- 0:13Speaker 2: call cleaning out the sound fridge, cleaning out the mini fridge.
- 0:16Speaker 2: This is like your dorm fridge. We're cleaning out the
- 0:19Speaker 2: dorm fridge today.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I liked mine better, and I'll tell you why, because
- 0:23Speaker 1: I was thinking of Katie when you said the other day, Katie,
- 0:26Speaker 1: that you'll go to AI and say, hey, I got this,
- 0:30Speaker 1: this and this and my fridge.
- 0:30Speaker 2: What should I make?
- 0:32Speaker 1: Yeah, And it'll give you a good recipe and all.
- 0:34Speaker 1: So we've got some stuff we haven't touched at all
- 0:37Speaker 1: in the sound fridge. We have some stuff that we
- 0:39Speaker 1: used on the show but deserves another look. And also,
- 0:41Speaker 1: I feel like we're asking AI to make us sound
- 0:44Speaker 1: fridge stew.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Speaking a stew which reminds me of soup. I've been
- 0:48Speaker 2: on a kick lately. I can't get enough of grilled
- 0:52Speaker 2: cheese with tomato soup. Oh so good god? Is there
- 0:55Speaker 2: anything better than a grilled cheese sandwich dipped in tomato soup?
- 0:59Speaker 2: Oh my god?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't love tomato soup, but ass soup in
- 1:05Speaker 1: general is it's a beautiful thing. Yeah. I like beef
- 1:08Speaker 1: barley soup with grilled cheese.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Sam, I'm got fantastic.
- 1:12Speaker 3: And some guy broke that down, the grilled cheese and
- 1:16Speaker 3: tomato soup, and they said, it's kind of like pizza
- 1:18Speaker 3: because it's the bread, the cheese, and then the tomato
- 1:21Speaker 3: that is the flavor.
- 1:21Speaker 2: You're right, that's why I like it so good.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Yeah, what's not to like? All right, So you wanted
- 1:28Speaker 1: to revisit a couple of things.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Huh uh, yeah, I think we should play this so
- 1:35Speaker 2: you'll know ahead of a time. This is the sound
- 1:37Speaker 2: of a guy pulling a four thousand pound car with
- 1:42Speaker 2: his testicles. Please, gon'd be careful. Oh my god, he's
- 1:53Speaker 2: doing it.
- 2:00Speaker 3: God.
- 2:02Speaker 2: And his sister said.
- 2:04Speaker 1: We're so proud of him.
- 2:06Speaker 2: And you said, that's the first time anybody's ever done
- 2:09Speaker 2: that in Great Britain or whatever, which is surprising.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Well, given the BRIT's long history, Michael, in their empire
- 2:18Speaker 1: and the rest of it as a colonial power, for instance,
- 2:22Speaker 1: you'd have thought they'd have come upon an occasion we're
- 2:25Speaker 1: pulling a car with your testicles would be handy but no,
- 2:28Speaker 1: it never happened.
- 2:29Speaker 2: But is that a feat of strength or is it
- 2:32Speaker 2: just hoping they don't pull off of you?
- 2:36Speaker 1: It's effing stupid and lunatic.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Is there a video? And did you see it? And
- 2:41Speaker 2: how what's the what's the harness like?
- 2:44Speaker 1: It's like a long orange silk. It's called a scarf.
- 2:49Speaker 1: It's it looks more like a strap than a scarf
- 2:52Speaker 1: to me. But I don't know. I don't know. This
- 2:57Speaker 1: guy was trying to draw attention to men's mental health,
- 3:00Speaker 1: which he did, but just not the way he thought.
- 3:05Speaker 2: You don't have it, you see, is the way you Okay, well,
- 3:08Speaker 2: there you go again.
- 3:10Speaker 1: A key quote from the post game interview was and
- 3:13Speaker 1: I quote when I'd finished my I'm sorry there ought
- 3:16Speaker 1: to be. When I'd finished, my plums were bright purple.
- 3:19Speaker 1: But I'm still firing on all cylinders.
- 3:22Speaker 3: All right, every woman in the world thinking.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Hot, yes, husband material, yeah, yeah, all right. I want
- 3:32Speaker 2: you to father my children and be their role model
- 3:35Speaker 2: if you can. Now you can now, probably not for
- 3:39Speaker 2: a little while, give me a week or two.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Meanwhile, in Portland.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I'm a reptile girl, so we're here for the snakes.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I've never hung out with a snake, and I'm super
- 3:51Speaker 1: excited to hold one or touch one inhale.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Come up, mountain arms. We have your arms in the air.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Say hey, Gemma. Gemma is one of my favorite snakes
- 4:00Speaker 1: and snake yoga.
- 4:01Speaker 2: It's just a different vibe.
- 4:03Speaker 3: It's just like super relaxing and calming, and especially the
- 4:06Speaker 3: big snakes on you.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Hedge of a.
- 4:11Speaker 1: He is one of my favorite snags.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Not a single man in that clip. Yeah yeah, so
- 4:18Speaker 2: kind of reverse to what you're doing earlier. Every guy
- 4:20Speaker 2: in the audience saying hot.
- 4:24Speaker 3: There's more than a big snake on you.
- 4:27Speaker 2: That's what she said. I want you to be the
- 4:29Speaker 2: mother of my children.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Oh boy, python's up to seven feet longer, brought out
- 4:33Speaker 1: by the staff one at a time, along with one
- 4:36Speaker 1: baby Colombian common boa named Mango.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I want to combine the giant snake yoga with the
- 4:42Speaker 2: goat yoga and watch nature tickets. Course. Well, you wouldn't
- 4:46Speaker 2: think they could swallow a whole goat, but they can.
- 4:49Speaker 1: The handlers drape them over students' shoulders or bellies. But
- 4:52Speaker 1: snakes also start winding their way around and climbing up
- 4:54Speaker 1: people's bodies.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Well that's one of my one of my weird fears
- 4:58Speaker 2: I have and I've never lived than a part of
- 5:00Speaker 2: the world where giant snakes do this. But the idea
- 5:03Speaker 2: of snake wrapping itself around me and squeezing me to death. Ah,
- 5:07Speaker 2: I hate the thought of that. Any movie or TV
- 5:11Speaker 2: show where that, like the snake is making its way
- 5:13Speaker 2: around the neck, it's just like, ah, I can't have it.
- 5:18Speaker 1: You know, I don't know that Portland has ever been
- 5:21Speaker 1: better summarized, maybe by Portlandia Fred Armison's genius hilarious show.
- 5:27Speaker 1: But then my son declan musician hipster and you'd think
- 5:33Speaker 1: a perfect Portland here. But he said, as he moved
- 5:38Speaker 1: away from it, he said, yeah, I want to live
- 5:40Speaker 1: somewhere kind of hip and cool, but not somewhere that's
- 5:42Speaker 1: so up its ass about how hip and cool it
- 5:45Speaker 1: is up its own ass. It's like, oh my god,
- 5:49Speaker 1: you people are self conscious and and you're trying so hard.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Do you bend forward or backward for that?
- 5:57Speaker 1: Well, that's up to you. It depends how much snake
- 5:59Speaker 1: you ogime you've taken, right, flexible.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah, performative, performative hipsterism is its own thing.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, well said yeah, this is Katie, do
- 6:09Speaker 1: you want to set this one up fourteen? Uh?
- 6:13Speaker 2: Yeah, So we did the story.
- 6:15Speaker 3: I think it was a couple of weeks ago about
- 6:17Speaker 3: that trans woman. So it was a dude that thought
- 6:21Speaker 3: he was a woman.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Mentally ill dude who masqueraded as a woman. Right, he
- 6:24Speaker 1: had been surgically mutilated.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Yes, And he went to the hockey game in Rhode
- 6:28Speaker 3: Island and killed his ex wife, one of his kids,
- 6:32Speaker 3: and then his I think his father in law. Well,
- 6:36Speaker 3: his son scored a goal in double overtime, taking Air
- 6:41Speaker 3: high school hockey team to the championship.
- 6:44Speaker 2: And this is that clip. It was overtime.
- 6:46Speaker 3: I got caught on offense a little bit there, and
- 6:50Speaker 3: my good buddy Cam just fed me a puff and
- 6:53Speaker 3: I just hear the crowd.
- 7:03Speaker 1: That's that's nice. That's nice that the kids still playing.
- 7:07Speaker 1: He'd almost have to, my god, keep living your life.
- 7:09Speaker 1: It's the only way to not succumb to the horror
- 7:12Speaker 1: of it all up.
- 7:15Speaker 3: And the way that the team just went all around,
- 7:18Speaker 3: I mean, it was it's a it's a cool redemtion.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Like I don't want to call it redemption because he
- 7:22Speaker 3: didn't do anything, but you know what I mean.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Yeah, It's funny because it is a nice story, but
- 7:28Speaker 1: I've heard it presented with like and and the young
- 7:31Speaker 1: man he no, his mom and sister are still slain
- 7:36Speaker 1: by his mentally ill father persevering and his grandpa. Y Am,
- 7:40Speaker 1: but good lord awful.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess you know the lesson you'd take from that,
- 7:52Speaker 2: it's not the end of happiness. Joy joy for life
- 7:55Speaker 2: is not over because of what happened.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I'm never going to tell anybody how to grieve.
- 8:03Speaker 1: But one of the most powerful things I've ever heard
- 8:05Speaker 1: is that person that you're grieving, and it's like really
- 8:10Speaker 1: weighing on your life. What would they want for you?
- 8:13Speaker 1: And do your best to do what they would want
- 8:16Speaker 1: for you. It's a good way to channel, you know,
- 8:19Speaker 1: the emotion of it.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Uh, not grieving anybody currently. That sounds fantastic. If I
- 8:25Speaker 2: were grieving someone and someone told me that, I might
- 8:27Speaker 2: punch him in the face. So it depends on where,
- 8:30Speaker 2: you know, where I am in the process. I don't know. Luckily,
- 8:35Speaker 2: I'm not in that situation right now.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Man.
- 8:36Speaker 2: That crowd went nuts, so they fully understood what was
- 8:40Speaker 2: happening obviously. Oh yeah, Yeah, that was quite the expulsion
- 8:45Speaker 2: of joy, love that, well, I guess that's it.
